Tabou: You (Mind Control, Transformation, Body Swap, Complete Chaos)

This is a tentative group game idea for any and all interested parties.  The premise is that a group of friends have a regular game night in which one person will bring a board game of some kind and the friends would all play from dusk until dawn.  One friend, hoping to find something new and a bit more spicey, finds the game Tabou: You, at a gag gift store similar to those wonderful stores we see in malls today (I will not mention them out of risking copyright information or other notice to the site.)  The friends meet up, and used to odd games and craving some spice in their board game lives, agree to play.  What they don't know is that whatever the game says will happen, happens to them.  The winner of the game even has the opportunity to choose if the changes made during the game are permanent.

Gameplay Style: I will be the game itself.  As players take their turn, I will describe what their consequence/change/perk/fetish is, and the player or players involved then get to describe their own version of what is happening to them and how their character(s) react.  Example: Player one lands on the square titled, "Below the neck piercings," which is a body modification tile on the board.  The player of the character then describes whatever piercing and however many suddenly form on the character, and how they react and feel.  The next player character lands on, "Dirty Mouth," which is a mental modification tile on the board.  From that point on, no matter what the character is trying to say, it somehow always just comes out in a sexual way.  The third player lands on a, "Service," tile which compels a second random draw of the sex acts card pile.  That card randomly says, "perform oral to each player until your next turn."  Obviously I shall refine the game board better and the acts and changes, but body modifications and mental modifications can be anything from, "Become and incestuous lesbian," (landed on by a male character) to, "Double the length and girth of your penis," to, "Swap ethnicity with the last person you touched."  The taboos that will not happen include any bodily waste function, death, dismemberment, or the like.

Number of players: Any and all, of any gender, played by any gender, with a possible cap of around 12 (what board game allows for more?)  A possible accommodation for extra players would be that anyone in visual presence of the game is compelled to witness the game, though the players sitting out themselves were initially just waiting their turn to play in a tournament style evening.  List any kind of modifications or fetishes you prefer.

How to win the game: Reach the end first (I will indeed try to design a game board.)

Those interested: Aside from the information listed above, I encourage anyone to ask questions and offer ideas.  Right now I am picturing this game being played in an old colonial style home in the New England area of the US, in a college town.  Other than that, be as creative as you like with your characters.



Notice: I am encouraging everyone to submit character sheets.  Final decisions will be made on Monday the 26th.  At this point anyone interested should in their character sheet have a hobbie, interest, or some noticeable reason as to why their character would be at a game night with college students.  I'm not picking on anyone in particular, but if we have an excess of sheets, characters that fit the story concept the best will be preferred over those that don't.

And given its narrow scope, I think I would come up with a character utterly unlike my usual choice with the aim of seeing where he/she ended up. If it looks like enough people are interested (three players and you), I'll put together a character.

Likes: Biking, hitting clubs, and bright cheery colors, but she wears black and belongs to several gaming groups, because they buy her illegal gaming contraband (believing her story that she has a secret source at the factory and everything is totally original) as well as the pot she grows in the dormitory basement using her fairly technical system of hydroponic tanks and grow lights.
Dislikes: Smart people who actually pay attention to what she’s doing, people who ask too many questions.
Skills & Hobbies: Can forge a signature easily, has memorized the odds tables for most games of chance, has connections in China who can get her just about anything cloned or forged, and knows how to grow great weed.
Flaws: Pretty much believes she’s smarter than everyone else (and she is smarter than most), ethically challenged and there isn’t much she wouldn’t do if she could apply it against her student loans or bank it. Also has semi-seriously looked at the If I were an Evil Overlord list with an eye to how she would do things if she ever took over the world.
Biography: A math whiz in high school, she had a full scholarship to Cal Tech, but lost it when it turned out she was running a sophisticated 7 Card Stud game on the top floor of the library and a craps table in the basement underneath the faculty lounge that between the two had sucked in half the teachers, 70 percent of the students, and a union rep who lost three months’ worth of union dues in her game. Unfortunately, it was the last issue that tipped it over and in cutting a plea bargain, she had to forfeit just about everything she made. So now, she’s going to a lesser school (in her mind) and paying her own way.

I rather prefer that it would be in two seperate places, rather than on teams, because it gives a bit more variety if we are able be affected by any of the other players, rather than just the ones that are on seperate teams.

I think avoid teams. The reality is we will have people dropping and spots to fill. Plus if you're on a team, you are kind of tied to your partner and if they aren't posting it slows down. My opinion will change if we get six or seven more people wanting to join. But if we just have one or two extra, I bet next week those spots will open up.

Call me a realist =) But I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

Hopefuls, aside from submitting your character ideas, which I would like in the coming week or so, the sooner the better obviously, I'd like to open this up to you submitting ideas you might like on the cards.  I will not guarantee anything makes it or doesn't make it, but I am open to any and all ideas for consideration.  I would also like each person to be very specific on their own hard limits as a writer, so that I might ensure you are not necessarily pressed into a situation you are uncomfortable writing.  I cannot assure you someone else might have something you dislike happen to them, but I can assure you that I will not intentionally squick you out.  I would also like to point out that the board I am making will literally be at random, with certain spaces corresponding to certain things.  If you land on a space that squicks you, I will change it for you when making the game board post into something on your wants list.  Otherwise the game is random, and I urge you to be open to the overall experience.

Appearance: The restaurant Chris works in is a high-volume, "family" dining type of place, which manages to keep the otherwise inactive "gamer" in fairly good shape. Not really heavy-muscled, to be fair, but lean and toned. To deal better with the heat in the kitchens, he keeps his his dusty-brown hair cropped short in a military-style buzz; however, that's pretty much the only thing "disciplined" about him. Outside of work, he wears thin-framed glasses for reading, and is more prone to wearing worn out old jeans and flip flops than pressed pants or polished shoes. Though he is a big fan of short-sleeved, collared shirts.
Distinctive Features: His grey-green eyes are slightly different colors.

Motivation: Escapism. Chris games purely to get away from the stress of cranky kids, short-tempered line cooks, school pressures... at least for the little bit of time he gets to spend with his friends. Couple that with an almost insatiable curiosity / hunger for new stimuli, and you get someone who will try his hand at just about any game once (and has lost his fair share of money for it).

Personality: Casually competitive. While he's not likely to play "cut-throat" in any game, Chris is definitely prone to a little good-natured trash talk when he's gaming, and can get perhaps a little too excited when he wins a good hand of cards or a round of Street Fighter.

Likes: Tequila, card games, high energy music. And caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine. At this point, Chris' room in his apartment could very well be housing a small car's worth of aluminum from cans of soda.

Dislikes: Pushy personalities, customers who try and get everything for free. Also, he really gets frustrated with people who try and detract from his suggestions and opinions because of his age.

Skills & Hobbies: Chris is a quick learner, and is really good at retaining information that's given to him. While this makes waiting tables a breeze (being able to recite the wine-list by rote is a good sell for older guests), it also lends itself greatly to learning and playing all manner of games. He can pick up a game, play a round or two, and then start to catch up to more experienced players relatively quickly.

Flaws: Can be a bit cocky, and get a little too fired up when things are going well for him.

Biography: Chris' school career was always middle-of-the road; he didn't really apply himself enough to truly stand out, but was able to keep up enough that he never dropped below a 3.0 average. Of course, good grades don't actually translate to an instant career, and middling grades even less so... and so even now, two semesters after he's graduated and moved on, Chris is still waiting tables at a steak-house a few miles from his old college. Not that he can complain, though; he can still game with people on the campus, and the cost of living is actually pretty manageable here. So for now, he's just digging in for the long haul, filling out applications when he can and waiting tables the rest of the time.

Likes: She loves to read, loves to game, absolutely loves to cook and finds pleasure in the little things in life. She also loves to eat. LOVES to eat and finds such pleasures in sweets. In fact that is one of the only reasons that she hits the gym as hard as she does.
Dislikes: Rude people and those who "judge a book by its cover." She cannot stand the idea that anything leafy or green should be ingested. Kat also has a bit of an issue with vegetarians for that reason. She is of the mind that she will try anything once and if she does not like it she will not do it again.

Flaws: Her accent and the way she perceives the way others see her, holds her back quite a bit. Kat is also fiercely protective of what she considers "hers" and secretly has a violent past because of that very thing. It takes a lot to make the girl angry, but once she is there, watch out.
Bio: Kat was brought to the US when she was twelve years old with her older sister and younger brother. Once here, her father split and her mother raised all three children with little money and little space. She knows the value of a dollar and knows also how very important college is. She broke up with a man she called the "'love of her life" a few months ago and is finally getting back to her old self again. In school ,at the moment, she is going after her MBA and hopes desperately to become something great. Kat is not quite sure what that is yet, but when it hits her it is going to be fantastic. She hopes to make her mother happy and show her little brother that is she can do it, then so can he.

Distinctive Features: Besides the wheelchair?  None really save for a small piercing in her belly button and a red rose tattoo on her right shoulder blade, both results of dares she had lost but she didn't really complain much about them.
Motivation: The few true friends she has are what keeps her going day in and day out.
Personality: Shy, soft spoken, (unless angered,) a book worm, studious, courteous, and generally a nice person all around, Amy is easy going and just as easy to get along with.  Despite her disability, she doesn't let it slow her down.
Likes: Books of all sorts, animes of all kinds, listening to music, movies of all kinds, learning new things, dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, hanging out with friends, and playing console games of almost all kinds, good food, good friends, (soon to be good sex lol.).

Biography: Despite her physical genetically caused impairment, Amy Henderson is strong enough to be mostly independent since she does her best to keep her strength up.  Having a rare form of a genetic disorder that atrophies her muscular system, it's been a bit rough but with constant care for herself and well being in every sense of the word, she's done well in avoiding the hospital for quite a long time since her youth.  Living originally in Daytona Beach, Florida, Amy didn't get out to the beach a lot but still spent a lot of time out in the sun all the same with a few of her few true friends.  Soft spoken but always able to be heard, she might be considered weak and incapable by some, but don't be fooled since she more than makes up for it in many other ways beyond the physical one.

I still would like an answer but so far since I have received none, I'm just going to go with my usual pick for a character if I can get away with it, which is a bi female.  I'm trying something rarely done on games like this as well as to challenge myself a bit.  Don't worry, she'll be able to do everything asked of her, just have to be a little patient is all lol.

Couple of clarifications here for those wondering why they see me spotting this thread so frequently.

1.) I work Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat, and on those days I am keeping my sanity by checking Elliquiy on my phone.  It is not convenient to try and post while working, but a quick read of profiles allows me to keep ahead of things.  Vergil, just because I haven't commented on your profile doesn't mean I'm ignoring it or you.  Quite frankly I think its a great idea that you have such a dynamic and unique character.  However if you expect me to post every single time you see me online, then you are incredibly mistaken and this game is not for you.  Your choice.

Distinctive Features: In gamer circles, she’s considered hot.
Motivation: Money, paying off her student loans. She wants to graduate debt free with money banked.
Personality: A dry, quiet wit, she secretly despises gamer, but makes too much money off them.
Likes: Biking, hitting clubs, and bright cheery colors, but she wears black and belongs to several gaming groups, because they buy her illegal gaming contraband (believing her story that she has a secret source at the factory and everything is totally original) as well as the pot she grows in the dormitory basement using her fairly technical system of hydroponic tanks and grow lights.
Dislikes: Smart people who actually pay attention to what she’s doing, people who ask too many questions.
Skills & Hobbies: Can forge a signature easily, has memorized the odds tables for most games of chance, has connections in China who can get her just about anything cloned or forged, and knows how to grow great weed.
Flaws: Pretty much believes she’s smarter than everyone else (and she is smarter than most), ethically challenged and there isn’t much she wouldn’t do if she could apply it against her student loans or bank it. Also has semi-seriously looked at the If I were an Evil Overlord list with an eye to how she would do things if she ever took over the world.
Biography: A math whiz in high school, she had a full scholarship to Cal Tech, but lost it when it turned out she was running a sophisticated 7 Card Stud game on the top floor of the library and a craps table in the basement underneath the faculty lounge that between the two had sucked in half the teachers, 70 percent of the students, and a union rep who lost three months’ worth of union dues in her game. Unfortunately, it was the last issue that tipped it over and in cutting a plea bargain, she had to forfeit just about everything she made. So now, she’s going to a lesser school (in her mind) and paying her own way.

Appearance: The restaurant Chris works in is a high-volume, "family" dining type of place, which manages to keep the otherwise inactive "gamer" in fairly good shape. Not really heavy-muscled, to be fair, but lean and toned. To deal better with the heat in the kitchens, he keeps his his dusty-brown hair cropped short in a military-style buzz; however, that's pretty much the only thing "disciplined" about him. Outside of work, he wears thin-framed glasses for reading, and is more prone to wearing worn out old jeans and flip flops than pressed pants or polished shoes. Though he is a big fan of short-sleeved, collared shirts.
Distinctive Features: His grey-green eyes are slightly different colors.

Motivation: Escapism. Chris games purely to get away from the stress of cranky kids, short-tempered line cooks, school pressures... at least for the little bit of time he gets to spend with his friends. Couple that with an almost insatiable curiosity / hunger for new stimuli, and you get someone who will try his hand at just about any game once (and has lost his fair share of money for it).

Personality: Casually competitive. While he's not likely to play "cut-throat" in any game, Chris is definitely prone to a little good-natured trash talk when he's gaming, and can get perhaps a little too excited when he wins a good hand of cards or a round of Street Fighter.

Likes: Tequila, card games, high energy music. And caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine. At this point, Chris' room in his apartment could very well be housing a small car's worth of aluminum from cans of soda.

Dislikes: Pushy personalities, customers who try and get everything for free. Also, he really gets frustrated with people who try and detract from his suggestions and opinions because of his age.

Skills & Hobbies: Chris is a quick learner, and is really good at retaining information that's given to him. While this makes waiting tables a breeze (being able to recite the wine-list by rote is a good sell for older guests), it also lends itself greatly to learning and playing all manner of games. He can pick up a game, play a round or two, and then start to catch up to more experienced players relatively quickly.

Flaws: Can be a bit cocky, and get a little too fired up when things are going well for him.

Biography: Chris' school career was always middle-of-the road; he didn't really apply himself enough to truly stand out, but was able to keep up enough that he never dropped below a 3.0 average. Of course, good grades don't actually translate to an instant career, and middling grades even less so... and so even now, two semesters after he's graduated and moved on, Chris is still waiting tables at a steak-house a few miles from his old college. Not that he can complain, though; he can still game with people on the campus, and the cost of living is actually pretty manageable here. So for now, he's just digging in for the long haul, filling out applications when he can and waiting tables the rest of the time.

I have some small concerns, only in that I would like you to explain how your character fits with these people playing games on a friday night regularly.  Is he still taking classes, or is perhaps related to one of the other characters?  Perhaps the cousin of someone?

Distinctive Features: She is well known for a having a very good singing voice.

Dislikes: Rude people and those who "judge a book by its cover." She cannot stand the idea that anything leafy or green should be ingested. Kat also has a bit of an issue with vegetarians for that reason. She is of the mind that she will try anything once and if she does not like it she will not do it again.

Personality: Shy, soft spoken, (unless angered,) a book worm, studious, courteous, and generally a nice person all around, Amy is easy going and just as easy to get along with.  Despite her disability, she doesn't let it slow her down.
Likes: Books of all sorts, animes of all kinds, listening to music, movies of all kinds, learning new things, dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, hanging out with friends, and playing console games of almost all kinds, good food, good friends, (soon to be good sex lol.).

I still would like an answer but so far since I have received none, I'm just going to go with my usual pick for a character if I can get away with it, which is a bi female.  I'm trying something rarely done on games like this as well as to challenge myself a bit.  Don't worry, she'll be able to do everything asked of her, just have to be a little patient is all lol.

I like the concept of the character but as we stand we have a few too many females.  I am wondering if you would be willing to create a male character instead?  That doesn't mean he can't change into female later, but at the start of the game it is a bit less plausible to have so many females.

I have concerns that you don't quite get the premise of this game.  Aside from the fact that your character isn't too plausible, he brings to the table a level of violence that I've already declared won't be allowed in the game.  If you would still like to join the game, you need to considerably rework him from the ground up, and come up with a plausible reason for him playing games on a friday night with other college students.  I might remind you (and everyone) that each person in the game is a 'friend' of each other, in that they have come together because they either enjoy gaming, or have nothing better to do.

Open Slots:

Aside from the two people above provisionally accepted, there is room for 1 more male character.  Everyone is free to apply, but only one will be picked.  Applicants should consider the edit notes placed on other characters, in that the average character in the game is a college nerd, not necessarily socially accepted.

Distinctive Features: Besides the wheelchair?  None really save for a small piercing in his tongue and a red rose tattoo on his right shoulder blade, both results of dares he had lost but he didn't really complain much about them.
Motivation: The few true friends she has are what keeps her going day in and day out.
Personality: Shy, soft spoken, (unless angered,) a book worm, studious, courteous, and generally a nice person all around, Jack is easy going and just as easy to get along with.  Despite his disability, he doesn't let it slow him down.
Likes: Books of all sorts, animes of all kinds, listening to music, movies of all kinds, learning new things, dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, hanging out with friends, and playing console games of almost all kinds, good food, good friends, (soon to be good sex lol.).
Dislikes: Sports, spiders, assholes, arrogant pricks, people that assume cripple means stupid or retarded, stupid people in general, disorganized or messy rooms, smelly or crappy food.
Skills & Hobbies: Reading, gaming, watching anime, drawing, (though not all that great,) spouting off random facts about movies, books, or shows he's watched regarding the stories themselves rather than actors/actresses, listening to music, even singing along a bit from time to time.
Flaws: Besides hating and having no patience for fools or those that see his physical condition excuse enough to be a complete ass, Jack does not bode well around those that think cripple somehow automatically means retarded.  If that mistake is made, then be prepared for a verbal onslaught of epic proportions from his usual soft spoken self.
Biography: Despite his physical genetically caused impairment, Jack Henderson is strong enough to be mostly independent since he does his best to keep his strength up.  Having a rare form of a genetic disorder that atrophies his muscular system, it's been a bit rough but with constant care for himself and well being in every sense of the word, he's done well in avoiding the hospital for quite a long time since his youth.  Living originally in Daytona Beach, Florida, Jack didn't get out to the beach a lot but still spent a lot of time out in the sun all the same with a few of his few true friends.  Soft spoken but always able to be heard, he might be considered weak and incapable by some, but don't be fooled since he more than makes up for it in many other ways beyond the physical one.
