NEBULA
HIGH

From the far reaches of the Earth and beyond came the Sentinels of Honor, the most powerful group of heroes the world had ever seen!  They first fought in the Golden Age against the Axis powers in the midst of World War 2, ever evolving and changing.  Some of their numbers are still around today, but most from those days are long gone or retired.  New blood joined, fought... some died but most persevered.  Through the decades the Sentinels of Honor remained strong, but so did the forces of evil.  An armored megalomaniac named the Decimator proved to be a near constant thorn in the sides of the Sentinels from the late 70s to today.  He and many others threatened the safety of our world, but always the Sentinels of Honor were there to stop them.  But you know this story... what you may not know is where the next generation of heroes is trained...

NEBULA HIGH! The world's foremost superhero training academy!  It's secret location, known to very few keeps the students safe from those who would wish them harm.  Normal students go to high school.  Super powered students go to NEBULA HIGH!  Whether they are referred to the school by their super powered parents or the government itself (for those with normal parents), all students find a home away from home for the school year at this prestigious institute.  At Nebula High they will learn all they need to know in order to be among the next generation of super powered defenders of the Earth.. and who knows?  Perhaps a handful will be selected to become the next to join the illustrious Sentinels of Honor!

Students arrive via teleportation disks at the beginning of the school year and live on campus until Summer vacation, when they are permitted to return home.  Occasional field trips to various places on Earth do occur, but under supervision of a senior staff member.  Classes include standard High School academia as well as things such as High Technology and Super Science, Hand to Hand Combat and Magic and Psychic Fortitude.  The school is technically unaffiliated with any government but has liaisons to each major country's Department of Superhuman Affairs (DSA).  As it was originally founded by an American based super team (The Sentinels of Honor), it is a predominantly English speaking school, though technological accommodations can be made for those who don't speak English, whether they be from a foreign country or another planet.

The Principal of the school is none other than former Sentinel, Neutron.  Now retired from fighting crime, he has nonetheless vowed to use his abilities to nurture the next generation of heroes.
Don't just go to school... go to NEBULA HIGH!

******

This will be a largely sandbox-style group game centered around a super powered high school similar to the one seen in the movie Sky High.  Teacher positions are limited but available until otherwise noted.  If you are going to play a student, they must be from 16 years of age to 18 years of age (Sophomore to Senior).

This was previously an established game but we have decided to do a reboot of all threads and see if we can gain some fresh interest.  We look forward to seeing what everyone can come up with!

Remember, we're looking for original characters.  A PC can be an homage to a canon comic book character, but we ask that for the most part they be your own creation.

Please fill out the sheet below and submit it to Josietta and myself for approval.

NAME: Jet Lafayette

NOM DE GUERRE: Void

PLAYER: kingmaster1

AGE: 18

GENDER: Male

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight

POSITION/GRADE: sophomore

ORIGIN: While inside the room Jet's father, who was a scientist, began injecting various chemicals into his through his mother, in hopes of turning his unborn son into some superhuman. No complications or improvements showed during the whole nine months but, the day he was born, things began to show. The doctors saw him as a normal boy, but when he got home things began happening. It first happened with a new toy, a wooden pistol his mother handed him. He laughed and played with it but, once she checked on him again, the gun was gone and no where to be found. His mother was suspicious until he lifted up his hand and, out of his finger, popped the ball that acted as the bullet. After that he was taken by a government troupe to a secure location.

As he aged, seeing his parents every now and then, his powers grew in sophistication and in pure strength. His powers were found to have a certain limit until his body began becoming unstable and he could consume no more, either ejecting all absorbed material, causing it to be fatal shrapnel to all around him, or his body would simply expand in mass until eventually falling apart. They are trying to find something that could keep him stable after his current storage capability, seeing that he could be used to defend against large things like a nuclear missile.

He is more or less happy with his life and even more so when he gets to go to school, Neutron high is quite a fun place.

RESIDENCE: His parents had him in San Francisco, Ca and he would spend most of his summers there, but the government facility he was normally refined too was located in Sacramento Ca.

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: His father is prof. Jonathan Lafayette, famed biological scientist specializing in the study of human mutation. His mother is Angelica Lafayette, homemaker and assistant to his father.

POWERS: Matter absorption. Jet has the ability of consuming matter through any part of his body and making its genetic structure a part of his own. This could range from turning his finger into an absorbed gun or making his hair strands of electrical wiring. Though he needs to have enough of the substance absorbed to utilize it. This can benefit him in armor, being able to burrow holes in walls and make his skin into steel or concrete.

Because of his ever changing genetics his body and DNA in general are very unstable and can only handle a certain amount of matter before becoming dangerously unstable. Despite research that have been unable to find out just how much this is but are aware that, if he is overencombered, his body will reject the absorbed material and immediately eject it into the surrounding area, causing shrapnel of all varieties being fired out or, if he fights this ejection, his body will simply collapse in on itself like a neutron star.

The Appearance:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

EYE COLOR: Amber

HAIR COLOR: White

HEIGHT: 6"2'

WEIGHT: 197

BODY TYPE: Thin

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Charming people, care free people, cats, relaxing, drinking, skipping class, his sword

DISLIKES: work, responsibilities, boring people, most classes, waking up early, large dogs, obnoxious people

TALENTS: Fairly proficient with hand-to-hand combat, scientific experimentation, as well as bladed combat.

CHARACTER TRAITS: Carefree, a bit lazy, very friendly and liberal with his partners,  a mostly kick back person.

PERSONALITY: Jet considers himself a nice person, always trying to find the best in people, though he can sometimes be sidetracked by lust. He would be one of those people drooling over a woman due to her looks and paying no mind to who she was. He's fairly weak towards women, always bending to their will if they beg him just the right way. With other men he has much more of a backbone but he does love hanging out with both genders and drinking together. He will always be the one who first offers a drink and pounds down the first bottle.

Leaving this open to any kind of review or suggestion anyone might have :-)

artemis050

New to the forums and I am very interested! Tell me if I need to add anything :D Looking forward to this.

NAME: Michael Axe

NOM DE GUERRE: The Watcher

PLAYER: Me!

AGE: 16

GENDER: Male

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Hetero

POSITION/GRADE: Junior

ORIGIN: Scientific Experiment

RESIDENCE: Las Vegas, Nevada

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: Bruce Axe; serves as a U.S. Navy SEAL and currently holds rank of Commander.

POWERS: Metal Manipulation, and Photographic Memory/hyper-awareness.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: Blue

HAIR COLOR: Blonde

HEIGHT: 6'1

WEIGHT: 210 lbs.

BODY TYPE: Slightly Husky

APPEARANCE: Generally wears an undershirt, a black coat, and black cargo shorts. Numerous surgical scars on his back.

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Music, working out, reading, studying history (particularly Military Battles), and shooting at the range.

DISLIKES: People who see the world in black and white, Loudness, religious Zealots, people in general, and excess violence.

TALENTS: Marksmanship; The only thing his father is proud of. Speed-reader (300+ words a minute), jury-rigging.

CHARACTER TRAITS: Loner, soft-spoken, intelligent. .

PERSONALITY: A loner, gruff. Michael could be a people person; yet, he chooses not to. Has a very good hold on his temper, but if angered there is no stopping him. After years with a father in the military, Michael no longer sees the world as pure black and white; instead, there are just shades of gray. Michael knows that his father has killed, and realizes that the military may call upon him to do the same thing. He realizes that sometimes, the ends do justify the means and that the world requires people like him to function.

History: Michael’s father loved his military career more than his own family; this was perfect when the government needed a test subject for a military experiment. The premise of the experiment was simple; graft a human skeleton with metal, making soldiers bulletproof! Bruce Ax volunteered his unborn son Michael. The experiment was deemed a failure, Michael was left scarred physically and emotionally, and he was ejected from the program; a major point of contention between him and his father. After he left the program, his relationship with his father completely deteriorated. Bruce considers his son a black mark on his otherwise perfect career.  At the age of 12, Michael started to notice he was changing. He could mold and shape metals; as if they were wet clay! Another day, he started to rub a letter opener; when he glanced at the letter opener, it was sharpened to a fine point. Michael has only made one other discovery about his power; he can propel metal as if he was a human gun.
I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death. What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch and you go to work. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities. You become a little baby, you go back into the womb, spend your last nine months floating... and you finish off as an orgasm.

Major Major

I might fancy a go at this; plus I can play either male or female characters. Are there any niches you'd liked filled?

LunarSage

Kingmaster1, your character looks good.  Note that there may be substances that for whatever reason he is unable to absorb, but in general I like the limitation that he must consume the material in order to take on it's properties.

artemis050, your primary power is cool, but if you would like to have innate protection from harm from metal you need to take that as your secondary power.  Just like a character with fire expulsion would need to take immunity to fire and heat as their secondary power.

Major Major, we welcome any concept and character.  For reference, here is the old approved character sheet thread so you can see what sorts we will already be having in the game.  NPCs will remain the same as before and I know that my PC, Senti's PC, Cadavar's PC and CurvyKitten's PCs will likely remain the same.

Kokaine, did you want to just reestablish your old characters?

He has also been able to absorb non solid matter, like fire or water, but this creates an immense amount of strain on his body as it's nothing he could replace a piece of his body with, if he did it would simply end eventually, leaving him without a hand or foot.

The only thing I would say is that he would need stick to solid matter. No elemental matter.  Otherwise its just far too broken.  Bear in mind that you are still learning to control your power. Thats why you are sent to Nebula High to learn how to use your powers. If you already had control over them you wouldn't have been invited to join the school.

Well, I suppose it would be best not to hit non solid matter since he couldn't actually touch it, so I think you're right there. But he can touch water although it would really mess with his body if he did so, he wouldn't want his liver becoming liquid or something :P

So yeah, no absorption of non solid stuff, I'll edit that.

Very much a WIP
============

NAME: Martin Harvey MacDowell

NOM DE GUERRE: (What is your super name?) The Caller (Subject to change if I can find a better name)

PLAYER: Major Major

AGE: 16

GENDER: male

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: straight

POSITION/GRADE: Junior

ORIGIN: A rather odd combination of mystical artifact and technology

RESIDENCE: New Zealand

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: Nothing special to note; parents are a stained glass artist and a psychiatric nurse

POWERS:
(Major) Can summon a simulation of a single character from any source of fiction; the simulated character would have a less-powerful version of their normal skillset.
(Minor) can speak nearly any language.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: Brownish hazel

HAIR COLOR: dirty blonde

HEIGHT: 198cm

WEIGHT: 130 kg

BODY TYPE: Slightly pudgy

APPEARANCE: TBD

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Anime, jazz music, model making, classic literature, "Good Movies", classic comedy.

DISLIKES: religious zealotry, intolerance towards others (these two points are linked), Michael Bay blockbusters.

TALENTS: Piano playing; trivia games, creative writing and making spreadsheets

CHARACTER TRAITS: absent-minded, sweet-natured

PERSONALITY: Martin's one of those people who seem to be self-contradictory at first glace; a quiet man with a very loud voice; gentle but prone to a fierce temper; apparently slow-witted yet quick with clever little trivia facts; shy about his appearence yet loves to be in the limelight; good-natured but occassionally sinks into bad moods. It's a baffling set of contradictions, that makes for a wierd guy, but is generally considered a nice person.

History

The life of Martin MacDowell is one of ups and downs; at Primary and Intermediate School he was an excellent student, but a series of head injuries over the course of his formative years left him absent minded and disconnected at Secondary School, resulting in him backsliding to becoming a below-average student. It was during this time that he happened to discover anime and manga, in the form of Ken Akamatsu's world famous series Love Hina, and became a life-long fan of the genre. In recent times, he's been making a much more concious effort to be a better student.

The source of his powers is probably one of the weirder sources; one weekend he was at a local flea market with his father, and bought a small necklace for his mother's birthday. He took it home to his bedroom and was about to wrap it up when he was called away for a bit to help tie down some things in the garden to protect them from an oncoming storm; the necklace was left on top of a pile of DVDs. As it also happened he'd been intending to watch some of those DVDs to relax and pass the time with, and the necklace was next to his DVD player, and began to soak up the radiating waste energies from the device as he was in the garden.

Just as Marty was coming back to his room, the storm arrived, and lightning hit the local substation, sending an overload through the powerlines and shorting out his house. His TV set and DVD player gave him a mild electrical shock that knocked him out for a while. But just as that happened, the necklace absorbed a massive jolt of energy, and the last thing Marty saw before he passed out was bolts of energy striking out from the necklace and striking his anime DVDs. After he came to in A&E, where he was being treated for electrical burns and shock, he went home and began to examine the necklace, and from that, discovered its' awesome powers....

Does he just rip people out of their reality and put them into this one? Or are they like, golems with mimicked powers?

The latter, yes; they're simulacrum of the 'real' person.

Also, sorry it took so long to clear that point up; my net connection speed is really bad today; we're talking bytes per second.

Ok! I can understand that. I will just nix the immunity to metal; I will keep the photographic memory/hyper-awareness. Thanks for the quick feedback.

Feel free to get to know each other and make connections with each other until we start.  You've all been at the school at least since the beginning of the term and have likely seen each other. So once your character has the green light to go, feel free to chat and figure out who you might get along with and what not.

I have a few NPCs I play.. including the Queen B Cheerleader bitches... and a really nerdy guy who lusts after the Head Cheerleader and gets shite on too often, much to his dismay lol

She keeps everything bottled up and paints on a fake smile for her parents who have done everything for her to become something positive. People find her very cryptic and mysterious. No one can getting pass her secretiveness to really get to know who she really is.  She not very confident in herself but is trusting, hopeful, upbeat with her life.

History: Sophie Ann Reed was born in Napa, California to Jane and James Reed who owned a famous wine resort that they build to start their own family.. Decadence of a long line of super humans, her parents knew she would one day become a genetically enhanced hero like them. Sophie had been normal for most of her life, keeping the secret of her parent’s old lives from the people around them. She soon started to have headaches at age thirteen, signaling the emergence of her mental powers. Then while at a sleep over Sophie walked into her friends dream, scared of what was happening she blanked the girls mind, putting her in a month long coma. Afraid of how their baby would be treated they moved off into the Colorado mountain ski resort town of Avon where her parents have tried to teach her to harness her abilities to their full potential. Her father, a powerful mind manipulator, taught her how to focus the power and not to be alarmed when entering a person’s head.   Unable to tech her more, the Reeds have opted to send her to Nebula high to be further trained to become a well-endowed superhero. Unlike her parents Sophie has a dream to become a performer and travel the world. But unable to break her parent’s hearts she has agreed to attend their parent’s choice school and is hoping to control her powers to the best of her ability.

Josietta, I was just wondering if there were relationships between students and teachers, possibly romantic, cause I read about the foxy nurse and think she would fit Jet fairly well :P

Of course!  :-)

Chasseybaby, your character looks ok, but please bear in mind that mind control powers can only be used on NPCs unless the player of the PC gives you express permission to do so.  It's one of those powers that can easily tread into the realm of godmodding if you're not careful.

*chuckles*  No, I'm afraid not. There are no student/teacher relationships allowed.  Its all about legalities and conflicts of interest as far as that goes. Can't have people playing favorites just because their student gave good.. umm.. well you know.. ;)

But she'd be happy to talk and give a wink or three your way. ;)

Really he might be one of those guys who goes to the nurses office everyday with...something to do with a fever or...uncomfortableness in a certain area that might need help...

But does that mean NPCs aren't in the...more erotic scenes as well?

I'm thinking of remaking my previous character (with less being inattentive to the game).  Possibly fine-tuning the powers to require less active buy-in from other people though, or making them more like something he can learn to control (since students not having mastery of their powers is kind of the point, and I was never sure that Tommy having a passive power that he was mostly just learning to take advantage of was good enough).  Or just doing a different take on a similar concept.  I think I need to spend some quality time with Wikipedia.

Then as it stands, Karter and her bestie (Chester-NPC) will be returning as is.
Theo I am contemplating turning into a girl at this point though I'll not be changing the power set at all. And my other NPC will just be getting a new face.

My PCs and my NPCs are all open to setting up any sort of history or plot to be played out.

Would it be possible to have a character's minor power be immunity to having their powers negated?  I don't have anything specific in mind yet that I'd even pair it with (I'm not trying to ruin gym class, unless it's really funny), but it occurred to me that it could make sense for a demigod character to simply not have his ability turned off by anything mortals could build.  On the other hand I'm not sure it's appropriate to imply that one power-origin is actually better than others in a genuinely objective sense.

Kokaine

Thought I'd throw this up here just so the npc power sets could be seen and just to be sure they're okay.

POWERS: Teleportation – can transport himself, as well as other people or objects independently of himself, across distances at an accelerated rate through use of an alternate plane.
Enhanced physical condition (with emphasis on agility and dexterity) – this ability allows him to teleport quickly, as well as emerge ready to engage or teleport again if necessary rather than needing a moment to recuperate as others might.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: Blue

DISLIKES: people who take themselves too seriously, homework, pickles

TALENTS: getting other people in trouble, blending in, break dancing, soccer, drawing

CHARACTER TRAITS: troublemaker, laid back, observant

PERSONALITY: Chester is fairly well known by now both as Karter's best friend and as the guy with the water balloons. He has a naturally infectious laugh and is good at putting people at ease when he's not teasing them or setting them up somehow. Among those he likes he's well liked in return. He's got no future plans for a life of crime fighting or any such thing but has been more focused on getting people to forget his father was a former villain and simply see him for the easy going guy he is.

The Basics

NAME: Araceli Santos (NPC)

NOM DE GUERRE: Torrent

PLAYER: Kokaine

AGE: 16

GENDER: Female

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Bi-curious

POWERS: Cyberpathy – can perceive, understand, control and generate electronic, digital, and radio transmissions without accessing any standard source of communication, though she cannot tap into wired communications such as land lines and the like. She is in essence a living wireless hub/computer.
Cybernetic Memory – enhanced memory that allows her to store or delete memories as she chooses.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: Blue

HAIR COLOR: Blonde

HEIGHT: 5'6”

WEIGHT: 122

BODY TYPE: toned and curvy

APPEARANCE:

Beyond the Image

LIKES: swimming, diving, surfing, puzzles, games, chocolate (A LOT), intelligence, affection, anything that stimulates the senses pleasurably, people who are good with their hands

DISLIKES: fads/trends/stupid phases, people who are cold and distant (like computers), barriers/road blocks in her way, the headaches her power sometimes causes

TALENTS: hacking, decoding, swimming, games

CHARACTER TRAITS: Intelligent, sensitive, mercurial

PERSONALITY: Araceli is not your stereotypical tech geek. She doesn't wear glasses, doesn't typically fill her sentences with endless techno-babble, and enjoys getting out and about. She is at times very friendly and affectionate with a slightly quirky flare, while other times she can be increasingly distant and withdrawn and it all has to do with her powers. The longer she is “jacked in” the more distant she grows, which is why she often seeks some sort of sensory stimulation once she manages to pull free, but the longer she tries to ignore the transmissions around her and just be normal, the bigger her need to “jack in” grows. When she starts to become moody and irritable it is generally a sign that she is pulling too far toward one extreme or the other.

Even if Technology can't "turn off" his power, magic would still be able to do so.  Otherwise he'd be a liability to the school and to the world as a whole really. There has to be a way to control everyone in some way shape or form. What you can do is have his minor ability be immunity to tech based controls. Meaning there is no technology that could hold him aka stop his main power. However, powerful magic based powers could.

I'm very excited for this ;D

Still trying to think of an alias for Jet...I can't think of one for his powers other than like...abyss or void

Jefepato

That's fair.  I had a different idea anyway.  For the record, I'm more than willing to discuss if the power needs to be tweaked, because despite the limits it's obnoxiously versatile.  I'm trying to figure out how to balance it between being an ability with serious potential implications and not breaking the game.  So with apologies to Minister Faust,

NAME: Tommy Nakamura

NOM DE GUERRE: Callout

PLAYER: Jefepato

AGE: 17

GENDER: Male

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight

POSITION/GRADE: Junior

ORIGIN: Son of Tenjin, a deified scholar/poet of Japan

RESIDENCE: Los Angeles, CA, USA

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: Tommy's mother is Alison Nakamura, an accomplished software engineer of Irish and French descent.  His father, Hideyoshi Nakamura, is of course really an incarnation of the god Tenjin; he is often away on "business trips" (his family knows what's up, few others do), but is a distinguished professor of history at UCLA.

POWERS: Major power: Logogenesis -- Tommy can literally speak objects into existence.  (He can't directly affect existing objects, and speaking things that aren't physical objects is meaningless.)  It's generally easier if the objects he wants are relatively simple, not too large, and meant to appear nearby, although the actual limits are still unknown as he practices.  Speaking longer and more precise phrases helps too.  He doesn't control the objects he created (unless he's actually holding them or something), although they can be created already in motion.  Broadly speaking, Tommy needs to understand the object he's making, although not perfectly -- he could create a copy of a book he's read several times and knows well without remembering the text verbatim, for example.  He doesn't have to actually know how to create an object in whatever the normal way is, though (he can create a sword without knowing blacksmithing)

Tommy's pronunciation and enunciation needn't be perfect, but they do need to be close enough, and he can't use his power if he can't speak.  He doesn't need to speak loudly, and a sore throat isn't likely to stop him, but sufficient damage to his throat (or just holding his mouth shut) might.  He needn't be perfectly specific -- if he says "bunch of grapes" getting the type of grapes he wanted isn't usually a problem -- but he can't be actively deceptive.  Summoning a "cane" might get him his option of styles but it won't be a sword-cane.  Any language works (and Tommy can't resist abusing the hell out of this), even if it's a dead language or unusual dialect, but it has to be a real language.  Constructed languages are fine, but Tommy can't just invent words on his own and never explain them to people.  He has no idea if actually constructing a language with its own full vocabulary would work.

Normally, created objects are temporary -- not temporary enough to disappear mid-use unless Tommy is doing something pretty extreme, but they don't last long after he's done with them.  (That said, Tommy can't intentionally end his own items by fiat -- if someone uses his own creation against him, he can't hasten its time limit.)  He's sort of getting the hang of knowing about how long they'll last, but it's a slow process since he doesn't have any special ability to sense that; he has to go by his notion of how "well" he invoked his power, which is kind of weird and he hasn't been able to explain it to anyone else.  He can, however, create permanent objects, although it takes enough time to rarely be useful in a crisis; a permanent object that's finished is truly "real" and not part of Tommy's power any longer, meaning it's not really distinguishable from any natural object unless it's somehow odd in itself.  Most forms of making money off this would be probably illegal and definitely unethical (Tommy's taken up sculpting, but making gold in any serious quantity is bad news).

Creating living creatures is basically not a thing.  It's not that Tommy's power can't theoretically do it, but he can't understand anything more complicated than an amoeba well enough to create it.  He could create a steak, but grasping an actual cow's brain is beyond anything he can realistically manage.  Creating a sapient being is right out -- to understand a soul he'd have to be a god.  In any case, the results of screwing up could be horrific and also get his ass kicked, so he would never try.

Minor power: Divine toughness.  Tommy is significantly harder to hurt than a normal person, in a way that's oddly biased toward protecting his life (a legacy of his father's immortality).  It doesn't protect him from papercuts at all and punches only a bit, but his bones are quite hard to break and his vital organs are outrageously tough.  It might not be possible to actually kill him without supernatural means, but he wouldn't be eager to find out if he actually understood fully how this power works.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: Brown

HAIR COLOR: Black

HEIGHT: 5'11

WEIGHT: 178 lbs.

BODY TYPE: Athletic, reasonably muscular

APPEARANCE: Tommy is a handsome young man, dark-haired and dark-eyed, with mixed Caucasian and Asian features.  He's obviously in excellent shape and doesn't mind dressing to show it off, although he tries to keep it reasonably casual because he assumes people will rightly think him an ass if he flaunts his family's wealth too much.  He wears his hair short, and styled so as to look effortlessly nice.  He's usually smiling, and moves with an easy, confident stride.

Beyond the Image

LIKES: keeping in shape, tennis, literature, girls

DISLIKES: idiots, horror movies, bullies, people who can't have a bit of common decency

TALENTS: go, languages (speaks English, Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin and Hindi fluently, and a serious smattering of others for obvious reasons), athletics, pretty much everything in school, reasonably strong-willed

CHARACTER TRAITS: driven, kind, loyal, unsure

PERSONALITY: Tommy is a fairly nice young man who's a bit too used to his life being easy.  He tries not to act like that, because frankly people thinking he's being a jerk about having it easy is something he can't stand (even when they're right), and he works hard at what he does for exactly that reason.  He's loyal to his friends and generally is mostly pretty confident and acts like it, and certainly has no fear of things like public speaking.  One thing that really bothers him, though, is that although he enjoys his classes at Nebula High, he really isn't sure that superheroing is even the best use of his powers -- and he honestly doesn't know if he's being rational or just afraid that he's going to get himself killed.

Tommy was born in LA to the aforementioned parents, and grew up a happy child -- his family certainly didn't lack for much, even if his father couldn't always be around.  He probably had his powers from birth, although it wasn't obvious until he could say the names of objects.  His parents raised him multilingual once he began speaking, which was quite easy for obvious reasons.

Tommy is smart -- not superhumanly smart, but pretty damn smart by any reasonable measure -- but more to the point he's just plain good at school.  Although he didn't hit a lot of nerd stereotypes he still occasionally got pushed around for being a "teacher's pet," but he was generally tough enough to hold his own.  Most of the time.  He still isn't fond of bullies.

It's hard to say why he decided to learn to be a superhero.  Maybe it's just that he felt like someone besides him should benefit from his powers.  His parents are supportive, if somewhat worried; his father never was much of a warrior.  The teachers mostly like him, although explaining why his powers aren't that useful for cheating tends to take a while.  Gym and combat classes have whipped him into shape in a big way, and he complies because having so many classmates who are physically superior is kind of embarrassing.  He tries to be vague about the source of his powers, because it'd just sound like he's bragging.

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual

POSITION/GRADE: Transfer student, Sophomore

ORIGIN: Blessing from ancient spirit

RESIDENCE: England

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: none, Nate was raised in an orphanage

POWERS: Nate has the power to manipulate the wind although it is very much in accordance to his emotional state, his lack of control also goes as far as making things happen by accident, he has been know to accidentlly rip a woman's clothing off by sneezing...... also don't feed him curry he also seems to have no weight to his body, although he will stay grounded if he wishes he is able to just let the wind carry him off if he wanted it too.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: ice blue

HAIR COLOR: Black

HEIGHT: 6ft

WEIGHT: N/A

BODY TYPE: slim but toned

APPEARANCE: Nate dresses in surfer style fashion, wearing t-shirts with fun or catchy pictures or logo's, three quarter length shorts and sandals

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Girls, books, music and birds

DISLIKES: agressiv people, being inside, loud noises

TALENTS: due to his powers over wind he has been able to master whistling like every kind of bird that when he does, they whistle back as if in conversation although he doesn't understand them.

CHARACTER TRAITS: totally go with the flow

PERSONALITY: Relaxed and happy go lucky, Nate is a true child of nature, he doesn't like to cause harm to any living creature, especially those who have an affinity to the sky however if angered he becomes as deadly as the force he controls and his anger can be compared to a super storm.

History: Nate was born and raised in an orphanage in England, knowing nothing of his father or mother, only that a young girl of barely sixteen one day turned up to give birth and was gone three days later, leaving her son behind.

As a boy, Nate was very angry, he picked fights with children he knew were bigger then him and sometimes he let them beat him, not that he needed to let them at the time. it wasn't until he was fifteen that he gained his powers. A school trip to a Mueseam of Celtic History in England had him come across a strange stone that not even historians could tell the nature of. Within the stone resided a spirit of the wind from Ancient times, in exchange for freeing it, the spirit blessed Nate with his powers.

One month later agents of Nebula high school came for him, however believing they were trying to kill him, Nate ran and spent the next two years on the run until he was captured, explaining his situation he eventually agreed to there offer to join the school.

AndyZ

NAME: Brittany Mycroft

NOM DE GUERRE: Mystrix

PLAYER: AndyZ

AGE: 17

GENDER: Female

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Lesbian

POSITION/GRADE: Junior

ORIGIN: Seventh daughter of a seventh daughter

RESIDENCE: Tennessee

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: Her family is completely mundane and all ties to them have been severed for their protection.

POWERS: Right now, her magical powers are mostly raw and untrained.  She's learned to manipulate various types of energy to some degree (for example, bending light into obviously fake holograms or flying) and minor shapeshifting abilities, but anything else she manages so far has virtually no staying power.  Her only attempt at permanent effects was to make her hair golden blonde, which obviously didn't quite take.

It all comes at a price, however, especially when she tries to do something she's never done before.  One time she had to try to heal someone, and did so by turning them into a lizard for an hour.  Even though her friend doesn't remember, she still feels a little guilty about it.  She can't ever seem to use a technological device without it exploding when she tries to improvise a spell or gets upset, but she's managed with practice to duplicate the effects of a cell phone with a spell.  Moving things with magic, even herself to fly, creates a sharp breeze that can be quite noticeable indoors.

One thing she really wants to learn is to control the body's electrical sensors to a degree where she can affect people directly (for example, to knock someone out or induce an orgasm without external effects) but that's going to take practice.

((This may not perfectly fit with the one major, one minor.  I see her as learning more as time goes on and not having a lot of talents at first.  Technically, she's only taking one power of magical aptitude, but that may be too much for what you're thinking.  Please let me know.))

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Fast cars, new clothes, making friends, ice cream (casting gives her a pretty fast metabolism), learning new things

DISLIKES: Bullies, people making fun of her hair, people getting angry at her when she messes up a spell or a gizmo explodes or gets fried in her general vicinity, having children

TALENTS: Besides her magic, she's very intelligent and well-read.  She also has a knack for driving, and for whatever reason, vehicles never seem to go awry while she's the one driving.

CHARACTER TRAITS: Optimistic, spontaneous, but somewhat competitive and driven when she gets focused on something

PERSONALITY: Usually pretty bubbly and outgoing when things are going well, but she can get angry and frustrated just as quickly

History

When the seventh child of a family has seven children, the result tends to create an influx of magic, though such effects are rarely seen in a world where few people have more than two or three children.  For the seventh of a seventh to have seven children results only in a monster, a creature with enough magical power to masquerade as human and sew chaos across the nine planes.  Many who know such dark tales choose never to risk having children at all.

Brittany, like other sevenths of sevenths, didn't manifest her powers until her seventeenth birthday.  By then, however, agents of the supernatural had taken steps to fake her death and erase her records, ensuring that her true name would not be easily revealed to the wrong people.  By the time her powers finally manifested, she'd chosen the name Mystrix for herself.

She still misses her family, but trying to look in on them and find out what they're doing has only been more painful.  Trying to log into Facebook and check on them only caused the computer to wail in sorrow and burst into salty clouds of condensed tears.  She's had a few months since, and everything else about her life has mostly helped her get over it.  Mostly.

At least she was lucky enough to get a summertime birthday, so that she didn't have to get pulled out of school and have to repeat the year.  However, that does mean that she's a bit further ahead than she should be as a junior in her supernatural training.  Ah well, she's a smart girl, so she'll hopefully be able to keep up and handle everything.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

Yes there is still room for more.

And yes Cold, you can of course play a brick. :)  Just follow the guidelines for character creation (one major and one minor power) and you're golden.
You may want to take a look at Eddie "Freight Train" Kaut for reference. He is a jock NPC that Lunar plays when needed.

I don't see the character thread linked (I'll have Lunar post it at the top of the page).  This is a reboot game that we decided to just start over from the beginning with. The old character sheet thread will likely be revamped and used again: Nebula High Character Sheets (PCs and NPCs)

NAME: Tess L. Coils

NOM DE GUERRE: Megawatt

PLAYER: Shadowfox89

AGE: 16

GENDER: Female

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Bi-curious.

POSITION/GRADE: Student

ORIGIN: Tess's powers are inherited, mostly from her father's side but also from her mother.

RESIDENCE: Chicago, Illinois.

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: Nikolai "Thunderstruck" Coils (father, hero), Alana "Gearshift" Coils (mother, hero), Zakhary "Teravolt" Coils (paternal grandfather, semi-retired supervillain)

POWERS:
Major- Electrical generation. Tess can generate and manipulate an electrical field somewhere around the 1,600 volt range for extended periods of time, though she can put out ten times that for single strikes. She has to take sponge baths, however, as immersion in water will short her out for a brief period. This has some utility too, such as allowing Tess to arc weld with her fingertips, power electrical devices.

Minor- Hyper intellect. Tess can make herself smarter and think faster than any normal human. However, this requires her to "juice up" by an outside source of electricity. This also gives her invulnerability to electrical based attacks, as any such would simply hypercharge her mind. The downside to this is that overclocking her mind gives her a high, making her much more cheerful and outgoing than normal, and prone to taking actions that she normally might not.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: Blue-green with specks of yellow occasionally arcing through, as if lightning.

HAIR COLOR: shoulder length wavy red

HEIGHT: 5'1

WEIGHT: 100lbs

BODY TYPE: Small/thin

APPEARANCE: Tess is short and thin with a small chest. She usually wears a pair of khaki slacks and a white shirt. She carries a backpack around wherever she goes, filled with tools and a battery that she uses to charge herself up when need be.

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Computers, books, keeping her mind occupied, mints, trying new things

DISLIKES: Physical confrontation, water (shorts her out), arrogant people

TALENTS: Tess is very good with her hands, having an interest in mechanics. She dreams of one day building her own armor suit, powered by her own electricity, but knows she currently lacks the aptitude or finances for such a thing.

CHARACTER TRAITS: Tess is nerdy and shy, she would rather be working on a machine than partying with friends.

PERSONALITY: See character traits

History

The only daughter of her family, Tess always enjoyed having just enough attention. While her parents were always busy with their jobs, they never passed up the chance to encourage and push her forward. Of course, she was never told what exactly they did. Tess even had posters of both her parents hung on her bedroom wall for several years, going as far as having a crush at one point on her father's alter-ego (a fact which a very red faced Tess will vehemently deny).

For years, it seemed that Tess would never 'mature' into having powers as her parents had. She had not so much as shown an aptitude for electrical manipulation as her father was capable of, nor did she have the technical prowess or ingenuity of her mother. Of course, that changed recently when, during her sixteenth birthday, when her grandfather zapped her with enough electricity to kill a normal person. Of course, this supercharge had some side effects, none of which Tess remembered the next day.

Tess was promptly given an explanation on who exactly her parents were, who her grandfather really was, and what the hell just happened. Then her parents enrolled her in Nebula High and told her that she needed to learn how to control her powers, for her safety and the safety of everyone around her. And some mention about not nearly shocking to death anyone she kisses again.

Edited, I believe that's everything beyond a pic (which I can never find one). Tess has two big weaknesses; water which shorts her out and being too charged up with electricity, which causes her to act very oddly and have no memory of the events.

ebpohmr

NAME: John Paul Harrison

NOM DE GUERRE: Delta-V

PLAYER: ebpohmr

AGE: 17

GENDER: Male

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Bisexual

POSITION/GRADE: Senior

ORIGIN: Spontaneous expression following spike emotional trauma

RESIDENCE: Plymouth, England

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE:
Mother - Audrey Harrison, born 1956, Housewife. Runs online auction shop selling craft supplies. Strong family values but tends to be submissive
Father - Matthew Peter Harrison, born 1950, Pastor. Former missionary and navy chaplain. Strong Christian values, strict, tends to be dominating
Brother - Luke Bartholomew Harrison, born 1982, Chef. Owns and runs restaurant 'Sapori D'Italia'. Independent and headstrong.
Sister - Sarah Harrison, born 1988, Medical Student. Working to become a Pediatric surgeon. Caring, studious and dependable.

POWERS:
Major: Telekinesis
John Paul possesses the capability to transfer the chemical energy within his body into kinetic energy of objects, resulting in observable telekinetic activity. His ability is limited by the energy stored within his body and should he push his abilities too hard, especially with his currently insufficient degree of control, he will enter a state of hypoglycaemic shock. Depending on the energy deficit, this shock may be sufficient to render him unconscious, comatose or dead. A side effect of using his powers for any major or sustained effort is a massive increase in hunger and metabolic rate until his chemical energy stores are replenished.

Minor: Levitation
John Paul is able to use his telekinetic abilities to affect himself. This mainly permits him to levitate and fly. Although he has the capability to throw himself out of the path of danger, he uses this aspect of the power only in emergencies because feeling like he is punching himself with his mind weirds him out.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: Cloudy grey-blue with light grey-blue flecks

HAIR COLOR: Cappuchino brown with light brown highlights.

HEIGHT: 5ft 11in / 182cm

WEIGHT: 155 lbs / 70.5kg

BODY TYPE: Normal build, lithely muscled from favouring outdoor exercise such as running or swimming.

APPEARANCE: Keeps himself well-groomed and favours a smart-casual wardrobe featuring open-collared shirts and jackets.

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Friendly people, dogs, flying, maths, science, dancing, pop & dance music, running, swimming, Italian & Oriental food, coffee, creating motion art with his powers, saving lives and helping people.

DISLIKES: Intolerance (especially by religious groups), overbearing authority, being a lab rat, psychiatrists, centipedes/millipedes, Christian choral music, over-seasoned food, people who drive under the influence, bullies and his father.

TALENTS:
Having taken an interest in the mechanics behind what he can do, John Paul is great with numbers, especially in the arena of applied mathematics.
With a genuine interest in getting to know people and help others, he is both sociable and a good teacher.
John Paul has an excellent grasp of spatial mechanics and is easily capable of keeping track of the position of multiple objects.
Matching his control of kinetic energy with his knowledge, John Paul can create short-lived, breathtaking works of moving sculpture.
While not in the same class as his brother, John Paul can work a kitchen and favours preparing Italian and oriental cuisine.

CHARACTER TRAITS:
Brave - Not afraid to leap after he looks into the abyss
Adventurous - Curious to try new things and see new places
Loyal - A friend is for life, not just the party he meets them at
Friendly - A stranger is a friend he hasn't gotten to know yet
Rash - Is prone to leaping before he looks
Direct - Sometimes he forgets people need white lies
Trusting - Why would people lie about that?
Rebellious - Doesn't respond well to hands-on authority

PERSONALITY:
Given his strict upbringing, John Paul is remarkably well-adjusted. He makes friends easily and adjusts well to new situations. If there is a friend in need, John Paul will do whatever it takes to help them - a tendency that has gotten him in trouble when the friend is less than honest with him. While he appreciates the need for authority figures, he doesn't tend to deal with it well when those same figures get directly involved in his affairs. John Paul has a creative bent and enjoys creating works of art.

BACKGROUND:
Like many kids growing up in a strict Christian household and attending a Christian primary school, John Paul's early experiences were shaped by the beliefs of his parents, specifically his father. It wasn't until he started attending secondary school that his eyes were opened to the many charms and diversions of the wider world. He wanted to see and try it all, but his father's oft stated beliefs otherwise hurt the young teen. Unable to stand up to his father, he started resisting other sources of authority. This created more trouble between himself and his father, eventually sundering the household enough that John Paul had to move in with his older brother. Having been through a similar process, although less confrontational about it than John Paul, the older brother was able to provide an environment that helped foster adventure and imagination.

Free of his father's disapproval at home, John Paul grew in leaps and bounds. Becoming less openly rebellious, he began doing better in school and found that he actually enjoyed some of the syllabus. Free of the strict rules he had grown up with, he started socialising and partying a lot more. Helping his brother in the kitchen at home, John Paul discovered a love for home cooking. He enjoyed discovering girls although, after a talk from his brother and sister, he became a lot more careful with his dalliances. He even experimented with boys and found it to be an enjoyable experience. By the end of Year 10 (NB - freshman equivalent) John Paul was a happy, productive student well-liked by his peers and was eager to return to his studies after the summer.

Then the incident occurred and everything changed. On the 12th August 2010, the family came together for his mother's 54th birthday at Sapori D'Italia, the restaurant run by John Paul's brother. The meal went well, so well in fact that it was one of the nicest family moments John Paul could remember. Afterwards, as they all climbed into the car home, something prompted John Paul to turn and look back. As a result, he was the only one of the group who saw the oncoming hatchback clip a parked car and careen out of control. With fifteen-hundred kilo's of metal flipping and hurtling towards him, all John Paul could do was watch in stunned horror. The car flipped into the air and, despite knowing that there was nothing he could do against that kind of momentum, John Paul threw his arms up to try and stop it. In the last moments of his life he closed his eyes, wishing he could have done something, anything to save his family.

Something flashed through him, red-hot and prickly. Then the screaming started. Opening his eyes, through his shaking vision, he could make out the car hanging in mid-air only inches from his outstretched arms. He blinked, trying to think through what was happening, but his thoughts had turned to glue. He felt cold, so very cold. And so very tired. As a wave of hot-cold darkness dragged him into unconsciousness, he just had time to recognise the tortured, grinding sound of the hatchback falling to the floor.

When he awakened in hospital three days later, John Paul found out that everything had changed. His first clue were the suited men standing guard in his room. The second came when their superior introduced himself as being from the Department of Superhuman Affairs. The final clue was being told that from the start of the next term, the remainder of his schooling would take place at Nebula High. After several hours, he was allowed to see his family and there too he discovered much change. Now disowned by his father, his mother had been unable to visit John Paul in hospital. She had sent a care package through his sister though and a letter. His siblings seemed to have taken the development in their stride, although it was obvious neither really knew what to make of it.

Between getting out of hospital and starting at the new school, John Paul was poked and prodded by every specialist that could persuade the DSA to permit them their investigations. As much as he needed to know how he did what he could do, the teenager quickly grew to hate those sessions. The worst were the head-doctors with all their questions - as if he had had enough time to figure out how he felt about anything yet! Eventually though, it was time to travel to Nebula High.

It was hard at first, adapting to the new environment, so similar to what he had known and yet totally different. But adapt he did, and soon learned to enjoy his new circumstances. (Leaving this vague to fill in later/build with returning students who want to link our backgrounds somehow!)

After two successful years at Nebula High, John Paul anticipated returning for his Senior year.

NAME: Megan Adagio

NOM DE GUERRE: Deaftone

PLAYER: AribethAmkiir

AGE: 17

GENDER: Female

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual

POSITION/GRADE: Junior

ORIGIN: Megan is a second generation hero and inherited her father's powers.

RESIDENCE: Boston, Massachusetts

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: Her father was Anthony Adagio, better known as Outcry, a Sentinel of Honor who perished in a battle against The Decimator.  Andrew Adagio is Megan's grandfather and retired federal judge.  Jennifer Martrone is Megan's mother and is an assistant district attorney.

POWERS:
Major - Sound Manipulation: Megan can create and modify sound waves to mimic, intensify, hush, and distort, as well warp, strengthen, echo, speed up, and slow down sound.
Minor - Hearing and equilibrium are protected from the effects of sound

The Appearance

EYE COLOR: Brown

HAIR COLOR: Naturally dark brown, but typically has blonde streaks or highlights.

HEIGHT: 5'7"

WEIGHT: 134 lbs

BODY TYPE: slender and curvy

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Music, Singing, Cheerleading, English, Theater, Photography, Romance, Pranks, Guys who treat her well, Kissing.

DISLIKES: The Decimator, Studying Law, Criminals, Bullies, Math, Science, Jerks

TALENTS: Megan is a naturally gifted singer though most people likely think she cheats by using her powers.  She has a great eye for detail which helps with her photography.  She's good at acrobatics and dance, and slightly above average in self-defense.

CHARACTER TRAITS: Sweet, Upbeat, Mischievous, and Outgoing.

PERSONALITY:  Megan is fairly loud and boisterous though tries to be respectful and considerate when appropriate, if she recognizes the need.  She's fairly easy to get along with on a one to one basis, but in a larger group she is mindful of individual's popularity and has a desire to associate with people who are most liked.  She will stand up for what she believes in and push back when she's had enough.  Megan's mischievous streak runs deep and she enjoys playing practical jokes on friends and strangers alike.

History:
The daughter of Outcry, a Sentinel of Honor who perished in a battle against The Decimator, Megan was raised by her mother and grandfather without ever knowing who her father had been.  She attended private schools until she was twelve, at which time her powers began to manifest.  Luckily for her and her family, the broken windows over a three block area were easily explained by a low flying military jet breaking the sound barrier.  Now that the government was involved in Megan's life, her overprotective mother and grandfather could do little to prevent her from experiencing the secret life they had tried to hide from her.

It was during her freshman year at Nebula high that Megan had learned about her father.  Her eagerness to learn more about Outcry quickly turned to interest about the Sentinels of Honor and then a slowly growing obsession with their nemesis The Decimator.  Her obsession has been brought to the attention of the faculty and the school councilor has worked with Megan since her freshman year.

Megan joined the cheer team in her sophomore year.  She loves being involved with the school and likes most of the other girls on the squad even if certain personalities make things difficult.  She also joined the school's theater group.  She's been in and out of detention due to her habit of pulling pranks but isn't generally thought of as a troublemaker.

Megan's home life has become tense as she resents her mother and grandfather keeping her father's identity a secret from her.  She barely talks with her grandfather and is known to avoid her mother's phone calls.  Megan is quite happy that she spends most of the year at Nebula high and has found cheerleading camps or theater groups, away from Boston, to fill her last two summers.

Entering her Junior year, Megan is looking to having a lot of fun and  continuing to learn control over her powers.

Her minor power will need to be tweaked a bit or clarified.

So she gets two powers in one (Hyper intelligence and Immunity to Electricity) with a limitation of having to charge up via outside electricity sources?

We're hesitant on that one, just because it involves two powers fo0r the price of one, despite the limitation.  I'd be willing to allow it with the understanding that while her intelligence can go up past human capacity, it cannot go up anywhere close to the levels of someone who takes Hyper Intelligence as their Major Power and still not quite on par with someone who takes Hyper Intelligence as their Minor Power.  Say Human capability for intelligence is on a scale of 1-10.  With the Major Power, you could get an 18 to 20.  With a Minor Power you could get 14 or so.  With what you're proposing, you could get a solid 12.

Does that make sense?

If you're ok with that, you are approved.

Because her powers are so potentially versatile, we're going to ask that you downplay the level of power behind them to balance things out.  ie, if others with a Major power are at a power level of 10, your spells would (currently) be at a 5 or a 6.

If you understand and accept this, you are approved.

NAME: John Paul Harrison

NOM DE GUERRE: Delta-V

PLAYER: ebpohmr

AGE: 17

GENDER: Male

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Bisexual

POSITION/GRADE: Senior

ORIGIN: Spontaneous expression following spike emotional trauma

RESIDENCE: Plymouth, England

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE:
Mother - Audrey Harrison, born 1956, Housewife. Runs online auction shop selling craft supplies. Strong family values but tends to be submissive
Father - Matthew Peter Harrison, born 1950, Pastor. Former missionary and navy chaplain. Strong Christian values, strict, tends to be dominating
Brother - Luke Bartholomew Harrison, born 1982, Chef. Owns and runs restaurant 'Sapori D'Italia'. Independent and headstrong.
Sister - Sarah Harrison, born 1988, Medical Student. Working to become a Pediatric surgeon. Caring, studious and dependable.

POWERS:
Major: Telekinesis
John Paul possesses the capability to transfer kinetic energy between objects. Testing to date has shown that the size of the objects is no real barrier, rather that his ability is limited by the magnitude of energy he can safely transfer per unit time. Capable of exceeding this safety limit to an unknown maximum, such proves to be extremely dangerous for John Paul. Following the incident in August '10 (See Case File entry ZG-37142:JPH.20100812.3), it was determined that John Paul is capable of transferring up to a specific amount of energy with no detrimental side effects beyond eventual exhaustion. When exceeding this quantity, there is an exponential relationship between the magnitude of excess energy and the energy released into John Paul's body. In layman's terms, the excess kinetic energy is transferred to the molecules of his body, resulting in a thermal and luminosity increase. While the latter is not inherently dangerous, the former effect creates a pyrexia-like condition within the body and if the energy release is significant or lasting, may lead to hyperpyrexia and in the most extreme of hypothetic cases, total internal combustion.

Minor: Levitation
John Paul has an instinctual, subconscious ability to tap kinetic energy from the Earth to levitate and fly. Theoretically, he could slow the rotation of the Earth and eventually stop it, but such would require him to accelerate himself to approximately six-hundred thousand times the speed of light while maintaining proximity to the planet for the duration of the process. There is no safe method currently available to test the upper limits of the load he can carry while levitating, or the top speed he can accelerate to, although it appears to be limited in the same way as his more active, conscious energy use.

We're having a tough time understanding exactly what his power does.  Could you please clarify?  Wording that he could potentially stop the Earth's rotation makes us a little leery though.  No one is supposed to have that high levels of power.

If we need to limit the power down the road for the sake of a hindsight balance issue, you're ok with this?

If so, you are approved.

Sounds good to me, although the exact amount will have to be figured out in-game.  I expect most things she does to have some sort of drawback, especially if she's trying it out for the first time.  As the game goes on, please feel free to PM letting me know if things aren't working.

Some of the stuff I've come up with so far for drawbacks will be that light phantasms will be obvious illusions that look like holograms, invisibility will make shadows dance and go crazy, telekinesis will make breezes and so on.

I expect her to learn and get better as time goes on unless that'd be a bad idea.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

NAME:  Connor Marks

NOM DE GUERRE: Planck

PLAYER:  Ciosa

AGE:  16

GENDER:  Male

SEXUAL ORIENTATION:  Straightish.  He's a sixteen year old male.  If it feels good, he'll probably suck it up and got to therapy.

POSITION/GRADE: Student, Sophomore

ORIGIN: Natural Mutation – Connor was born obnoxiously smart.

RESIDENCE: Inner City Baltimore, Maryland

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE:  Mother died during a home invasion when Connor was six. His father was physically and sexually abusive, His father was also a police officer, and Connor has little love of authority figures.

POWERS:  Powers:  Meta-Intelligence.  Connor isn't just smart, he's super smart.  Given access to appropriate resources and time, he could build just about anything – but given his psychological profile and reputation for causing trouble, his access to resources has been sharply limited.  (See personality, below)  Minor Power:  Mathematical prodigy.  Connor can complete nearly any mathematical equation in his head, instantly, including PH.D level mathematics.

The Appearance

EYE COLOR:  pale blue

HAIR COLOR:  brown

HEIGHT:  140

WEIGHT:   5'8

BODY TYPE:  Lean athleticism.

APPEARANCE:  Tattooed, usually shabbily dressed, prefers to put his hood up on his hoodie whenever possible.  A slimmly shaved beard, and small ear gauges.

Beyond the Image

LIKES:  Science.  Math.  Sticking it to the man.  Snappy comebacks.  People who actually value intelligence.  The people on the fringe.  Intellectual challenges.

DISLIKES:  Bullies.  Authority figures.  Popularity.  Mandatory anything.  Nebula High.

TALENTS:  antisocial behavior, building stuff, math and sciences, getting beaten up.

CHARACTER TRAITS: Super genius, long term planner, nigh endless energy

PERSONALITY:  From the psychological profile of Zhang Yue Zhilan:
“Connor is a very worrisome young man. It has taken me a considerable amount of time to build any kind of bond of trust, and I would describe that bond as extremely fragile.  I am doing everything in my power to establish any kind of relationship to minimize his sense of isolation, but I suspect that the routine bullying he experiences at Nebula is countermanding my efforts.”
“Connor shows severe  signs of antisocial behavior.  He has commented that he 'hates people,' and I have telepathically observed multipe elaborate revenge fantasies against those he views as his tormentors, including acts of humiliation, degradation, and sexual acts.  I am entirely convinced that the only thing which prevents him from acting on these fantasies is his extreme hatred for his own father, who physically and sexually abused him very early in his development cycle.  In his mind, executing his revenge fantasies others is tantamount to becoming his father. “

“I have mandated continuing counseling sessions, but I must admit I am extremely frustrated.  Connor possesses an extraordinary degree of self-awareness, and nearly every attempt I have made to use my telepathy to get closer to him has backfired.  Despite this, I do not believe Connor to be a lost cause.  His antisocial behavior is reinforced by his sense of helplessness and victimization, not out of true sociopathy or psychopathy.  His unwillingness to hurt or abuse others stems from his intense childhood traumas.  While Connor is fearless in the face of bullying, he also seems unable to take measures to avoid it.  I suspect there is an element of masochism at work, with a shattered self-esteem that believes he deserves punishment.  He actively antagonizes those who are bigger and stronger than him, and often continues to provacate them long after he has no more ability to physical resist them.

“In order to ensure Connor's safety, and the school's safety, I am suggesting the following measures be taken.  Connor should not be allowed to participate in any field trips outside of the dimensional pocket.  His access to resources in the scientific labs should be sharply regulated.  He should continue to have to attend mandatory counseling sessions until such time as his behavior has shown marked improvement.”

“Be advised:  If Connor ever shows strong signs of conformity, and this change is marked or radical from his normal behavior, I strongly advise the staff to take precautionary measures and consider moving him to a more secure facility, possibly for detainment.  In his psychological paradigm, this behavior would be a strong indicator of potentially violent behavior, and the result of a psychotic break from what I currently consider to be his strongest psychological anchors.  This may seem paradoxical, but I am referring only to a radical behavioral change in a short period of time.”

History :
When Connor was six, an unknown gunman killed his mother in a home invasion.  Connor didn't witness her death, but he did overhear it.  His father, a police officer, suffered a slow slide into violently abusive behavior.  At seven, Connor elected for a life on the streets of Baltimore overliving with his father, a decision that most likely saved his life.

By nine, Connor was deeply enmeshed in a West Baltimore street gang, dealing hard narcotics to the cities rampant drug users.  His promotions were continually stymied by his caucasian ethnicity.  He continually managed to advance by virtue of his intelligence, but ultimately his progression was halted by hostilities arising from Connor's perfection of a new, highly addictive drug he was able to manufacture using corn starch and coffee beans, and a territory war ensued.

During the course of the infighting, Connor was shot and nearly killed.  In his possessions, the police found a small arsenal of personal weaponry systems, including what appeared to be an operating force field built out of a Nintendo DS and a microwave from the 1970s.  They promptly contacted the DSA, and a background search on the boy's father suggested he'd become a victim to a vigilante killing.  His police cruiser had exploded upon ignition.  No evidence traced to Connor, though he has admitted in private therapy that he doesn't know if he did.  Telepathic inquiry suggests the period of time is repressed in his memory.

After he was declared an orphan, he was made a ward of the state and sent to Nebula.

I expect her to learn and get better as time goes on unless that'd be a bad idea.

Nope that's fine on my end.  :-)

Sandbox just means that there's no overarching plot being run by GMs.  It's still freeform but you can do whatever and just have fun with it, rather than a game where everyone is on a particular quest.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

She's an electric manipulator.... Immunity to the element you can control is usually just an assumed secondary power. I just have it as, rather than being outright immune, it's used to power her intellect, with the drawback that doing so is potentially dangerous and could leave her with blank spots in her memory.

It would be a bit silly if she weren't immune to electricity, because her origin story would have killed her and she would risk zapping herself to death whenever she uses her electrical aura.

I had hoped the limitation would have been good enough. Without being charged up she's smart, but just as smart as anyone in the school without super intellect. However, it requires more and more electricity to make her smarter. Maybe she could reach 12 with an average charge, but anything higher and she doesn't remember anything that happened?

The thing is, though it may be an assumed secondary power, immunity to one's own element still needs to be taken as a secondary power in this game.  That's whether that element is electricity, fire/heat, ice/cold, or radiation.

Just so we're on the same page here... are you asking for her to be able to get as smart as those who took Hyper Intelligence as their main power?  I don't want to assume anything, so can you please clarify as to exactly what you want for her?

No, not that smart. Just to the level of others who have hyper-intelligence as a minor power, but only after she's been charged up. And even then she risks overclocking her brain. Going back to the scale, let's say her base intelligence is an 8. With enough electricity, she can reach 11 or 12. Her absolute maximum is 14, but getting that high risks damaging her brain (which is where the loss of control and memory loss come in), and any higher would be lethal.

Tess wouldn't be able to take something like a direct lightning strike and walk away unharmed, that's in the range of 1 megavolt. Going back to the scales, let's say that 12 volts (a car battery) would get her to 9. Multiply that by 10 as volts for every rank that it would increase her intelligence. So it would take 12,000 volts to get her to a 12 according to the intelligence scale, and 1.2 megavolts to get her to a 14. Any higher than that would be permanent brain damage.

For time scale, let's say the "charge" increases similarly. Starting with 6 seconds, each rank charged increases the factor of time by 5, so rank 10 would be for 30 seconds per charge, rank 11 would be 2.5 minutes, rank 12 would be 12.5 minutes, rank 13 would be about an hour, and rank 14 would be about 5 hours. The two longest durations are also the most dangerous for her, because she's not going to be fully aware of herself at this time.

Sorry, I'm very bad at explaining things >.<'

We also need to keep in mind.. this game isn't focused solely on powers or levels of said powers. Its about learning to attend high school, with all the high school drama and crap you deal with normally, while adding on super powers which may be out of control or going off at inopportune times.

You also need to keep in mind that no one student has FULL control of their powers. It is why you are all at Nebula High, to learn control or better control of them.

Just out of curiosity, Lunar - I understand how active powers are going to require training to fine tune their control - how is Connor's super intelligence going to work?  will it 'fritz' on him from time to time?  Or is it passive and 'always on?'

No, nothing like that.  But it will be very easy to get frustrated with all the perceived stupidity around it and avoid coming off as arrogant all the time with intelligence that high.  You'd realistically feel like you're so above everyone that very few people can even relate to you.  It can be lonely to be that smart.

Cold Heritage

#110
I think this is pretty well in the bag. Let me know.

NAME: Michael White

NOM DE GUERRE: None yet

PLAYER: Cold Heritage

AGE: 16

GENDER: Male

SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual

POSITION/GRADE: 10

ORIGIN: Super-Science

RESIDENCE: Brazil/Under the Sea

PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF NOTE: Ernst Oeming, 'Godfather' (in prison); Ilsa Haupstein, biological mother (deceased); Hans Günsche, biological father (deceased); Atticus Savage, adoptive 'father' (in therapy)

POWERS: Major: Superhuman Strength (covering things like lifting capacity, how hard he can hit, jumping really high, running fast by virtue of powerful leg muscles, and offering as of yet untapped potential for more esoteric applications like exhaling with force comparable to high winds), Minor: Superhuman Stamina (covering things like resistance to damage, disease, poisons/toxins, radiation, and other hazards; allowing prolonged periods of exertion before suffering exhaustion as well allowing extended periods of deprivation before suffering deleterious effects; he does not heal at an accelerated rate, but he will heal completely from harm sustained if given sufficient time). Although currently on the higher end of the spectrum for a superhuman of his powerset, age, and experience (which is, of course, still less than a mature hero serving as an instructor or as a Sentinel), Michael will continue to become more powerful with age  - assuming he lives to get older - without ever reaching a plateau. (this is intended as a caveat that the character's powers are not static)

The Appearance

An Image

EYE COLOR: Blue

HAIR COLOR: Black

HEIGHT: 7'10"

WEIGHT: 726 lbs.

BODY TYPE: Hulking

APPEARANCE:

Beyond the Image

LIKES: Silence; Sad Songs; Storms; Restraint/Self-Control

DISLIKES: The Weight of History; People Prying Into His History

TALENTS: Tai Chi; pankration; playing the cello; gymnastics; acrobatics; emotional control; concealing emotions and reactions

CHARACTER TRAITS: Withdrawn; Secretive; Emotionally Vulnerable; Socially Obtuse

PERSONALITY: Although Michael may resemble a jock, he lacks their confidence and certainty. He is scared of other people finding out what he really is. He does not socialize as well as others his age; he misses cues and references that one would expect of someone his age. Michael wishes to be liked and validated, and it is difficult for him to deal with rejections that others would take in stride.

History: The von Klempt-Napyeer Process, pioneered is a method of genetic manipulation discovered in the 1930s. It was a discovery many years ahead of its time. It was a discovery based upon conclusions derived from highly unethical, morally repugnant experiments upon unwilling human subjects. The scientists involved faced no punishment for their actions; the majority were recruited by the Allies, some by the Soviet Union, and a few fled to South America. Ernst Oeming was the son of one of the scientists who fled to South America. Ernst shared his father's dreams, and employing the resources secreted away, toiled to create an army worthy of the horrible, shattered nightmare that had scarred Europe so deeply and his father desired so profoundly to resurrect. Oeming's work bore fruit, but some of his peers drew attention. In time, forces of good came to put an end to it all; Oeming still lives, a prisoner of the most secure prison upon Earth.

Michael was one of the products of Oeming's careful work. Cryogenically frozen as an infant in equipment that had been smuggled into the United States, Michael might not have been anything more if not for Atticus Savage, a legacy hero who faced off against legacy villains. After a battle that saw the cryogenic equipment keeping Michael in stasis damaged, Atticus took the infant and raised it as his own, woefully ignorant that he had also set into motion the resuscitation of other infants. Only two other infants survived - the others suffered from complications in resuscitation or genetic flaws, and perished. The two that remained would go on to become Terrence and Tiffany-Lynn Terror, a pair of juvenile delinquents with dreams of graduation to full-on supervillainy. They terrorize the state of Texas and Louisiana.

The upbringing that Michael had was by several measures fantastic. He was well fed, clothed, and had a roof over his head. He did not suffer deprivation or hardship. His instructors and companions were androids. They lacked sentience and sapience, but they were advanced enough that an otherwise unsocialized boy could not tell the difference or know any better. Michael learned everything that a normal boy his age would learn, and then some: he was taught tai chi, gymnastics, and acrobatics to help him gain control over the power that made it necessary for him to be housed in an isolated complex constructed at the bottom of the ocean. It was perhaps not entirely necessary, but Atticus wanted contingencies in place in the event that nature proved ascendant over nurture - the debut of the Terror Twins entirely vindicated his actions in his eyes. At age ten Michael began to learn to play the cello and pankration. He learned both primarily from an android that he had taken to calling Aristotle, although whether it was consistently the same android is not something Michael could be certain of.

Atticus was, sadly, incapacitated and traumatized by his arch-nemesis, the super-villain Gradelino. With Atticus in therapy with the finest minds of the superhero community, Michael continued his training without knowing anything had gone awry. As Atticus made progress, he managed to inform the DSA of the undersea base's existence and requested that the DSA taken Michael under its wing. The DSA complied, and sent agents to the undersea base. They were somewhat perturbed that the entire affair was set to explode upon command in a blast whose magnitude measured in the thousands of kilotons, but after Aristotle urged Michael to go with the agents, they achieved their goal. Michael was sent off to Nebula High, where he could be instructed to, perhaps, become a productive member of society.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

He's looking good, though his history still looks incomplete.  Is there more you wanted to add?

ColdHeritage:  Your character looks good, though you need to determine, is your Strength your Major Power or is your Endurance your Major Power?  Whichever you choose, the other will be the minor and thus not quite as potent as the Major.

Captain Indestructible for example had his Major as Invulnerability, with Strength being his Minor... though as a fully trained adult, his Strength has risen to higher levels.

No pets at school, sorry.  They can't make exceptions.  He can keep a pet in his dorm or whatnot, but when in class he can't have an animal with him.

Sword?  You're going to have to explain that more in depth.  A special sword?  If he has some sort of special weapon he'd have to have it be one of his powers.  A normal sword?  No, that wouldn't be allowed.  It's still a high school.

I'd be happy with that, so he has the training I mentioned without carrying the weapon :-)

LunarSage

The problem is that having a sword doesn't really have anything to do with his powerset and how he would use it to fight crime.

At least that's how the school would see it.

A guy who's whole powerset involves them being a super swordsman with a magic sword or somesuch?  That'd be different.

I would essentially just want it to be a volunteer style of fighting he would want to be in, and in no way would he be an expert at it but would be a student studying it. So on a scale of 1 to 10...probably like a 4 and wanting to improve.

I guess that since it's not a part of his power it's not necessary but I was thinking it could work for him having a portable source of metal in case of an emergency. Then again...I don't know...I guess the whole thing's becoming a bit too complicated to be worth it :P

Wouldn't stamina fall under strength anyway?

Stamina does not fall under strength.

Stamina is endurance or durability, if you want to look at it from a Marvel Heroes Concept line.

Strength is how much weight you can lift and endurance is how long you can hold it. You can have one without the other even though they are often seen together. They are not required to be together.

Broadly speaking that's fine.  If you have any specific concerns I'd rather talk about them now than later, but I appreciate that it's really kinda broad and there might be things we haven't realized.

On that note, I'm not sure how to set specific terms on the limits of what Tommy can do with his power (currently) but if we need to figure something out we can try.

Tommy's ability to make things actually real seems like sort of a big deal.  My original plan had nothing to do with him providing illicit substances to other teenagers but it occurred to me that he could before I was finished writing.  Is doing minor bad things like that (assuming like booze or weed, not "hard" drugs or anything) by means of one's powers considered a huge offense in Nebula High (i.e. worse than it would be elsewhere)?

I mention this not because I'm trying to make my character a drug dealer, but because...well, I've been a teenager and frankly if this is the worst thing a teenager did with this power, you'd be lucky.

Do let me know if there are any other concerns.

Jefepato:  Yeah, I mean in the broadest sense... like things we hadn't thought about suddenly popping up.

As far as drugs go, don't his creations have a limited lifespan?  We can always say that halfway into effecting someone, the substance vanishes.  Perhaps he doesn't even know why illicit substances or gold and the like vanish so quickly.  It would eventually be revealed, mind you... but that's all if you're ok with that "limitation".

Well, it depends how long it takes him to make things really real.  My assumption was not that it's an incredible endeavor but isn't really super long.  I'm willing to negotiate on this -- I'd like him to have a few weird objects that might just have been experiments in "can I make this?" but I don't want to break the game.  (Of course it's possible that he just can't get good enough to do certain things in the actual timeframe of the game.  And in any case if making something would take so long that he can't actually talk for that long (although repetition is fine) he can't do it -- no putting it on hold.)

I would like to make things internally consistent, but it's possible that he hasn't even realized that doing things he knows he shouldn't do make it harder to create the thing, or something.  I'm not really against him just being unusually well-behaved in certain respects if it's kinda important that he not do a few things though.

Things meant to be consumed are kind of a weird middle ground.  I mean, the fact that it vanishes is actually abusable in itself if he can make food whose calories won't become an issue (or booze that won't be able to give you a hangover etc.).  Maybe there should be some reason that's not easy to do.

We're having a tough time understanding exactly what his power does.  Could you please clarify?  Wording that he could potentially stop the Earth's rotation makes us a little leery though.  No one is supposed to have that high levels of power.

Oops, that's what I get for trying to be technical on low amounts of sleep! In the most basic sense, he can change the velocity of an object by transferring the energy creating the velocity to another object. If he tries to transfer too much energy, it releases inside him as light and heat energy - which can really mess him up if he isn't careful. Especially as he doesn't yet have full control. The idea is that as he grows into his power, the amount he can transfer at once will increase and he will be able to contain a bit more of the energy before it starts messing him up. Oh, he doesn't have that kind of power - he's extremely limited in how much energy he can use that way (literally just enough to levitate and fly). Theoretically if he could find a way to travel at an impossible speed (and I really mean impossible - as in the universe-has-to-break-for-it-to-possibly-work kind of impossible), he could use enough energy to stop the rotation of the Earth. But there is no way such could ever actually work - its purely a theoretical concept such as infinity. If he ever tried it, he would develop an instantaneous case of spontaneous human combustion and the Earth wouldn't even notice. If that explanation doesn't help, I'll just reword the abilities. ;)

In general, I was under the assumption that objects created were created instantly, with a limit on mass that we should discuss.  Maybe a couple tons or so?

Can we just say that there's some sort of force (perhaps divine) that prevents him from creating illicit substances or prevents such creations from existing long enough to be used?

I guess what I'm asking is in very simple terms, what is the end effect of his power?  Telekinesis?  If so, we need to determine a solid limit on how much he can lift with the power.

So what you are saying is that you have a limited spectrum of telekinesis?   I'm not sure its even necessary to mention things he could "Theoretically do" but in actuality not accomplish. Its like saying I could jump from a plane without a parachute but i'd likely die from the impact.   Making theoretical comments just confuses people further, even if I get what you are saying -- others may not.

So in layman's terms, he has telekinetic powers that allow him to shift the kinetic energy of one object into another therefore allowing him to run an otherwise electrical fan through kinetic energy taken from a windmills motion?  So this means the higher amount kinetic energy around him means the higher level of output he gets? Is that what you are saying?

They do happen instantly, when he's finished speaking.  It is possible that the actual speaking could take a while, though.  As noted: size/mass, complexity, and distance all increase difficulty.  Presumably, speed (if created in motion) does as well, and making multiple objects (especially if dissimilar or not at least conceptually grouped).  Longer and more precise phrasing helps to some extent, but there are presumably limits he just can't surpass yet.  (I am not trying to hide behind the fact that "it takes a long time" is less arduous a limitation when I'm writing than it would be to actually describe an object you want for five hours straight.)

So let's say if he might be able to create an object weighing a ton or two, it would have to be fairly uniform (like a big rock), pretty much within arm's reach, and not already moving (probably it should have to be on solid ground too).  But he could pretty easily yell "Baseball!" and have it be flying at someone pretty damned fast, and most likely a deck of cards is easy enough.  A fruit basket is...well, it obviously isn't gamebreaking but it would either take a while or he'd probably screw it up (whoops, all apples or it tastes funny).  I'm going to assume that very large numbers of objects are hard even if they're small/simple because shouting a violent sandstorm at someone could get really broken.

There should probably be a hard minimum on how long it takes to make a permanent/real object, even if it's simple and no one would care.  I mean, I don't think it should take an hour to make a real true apple, but the power needs to be in check somehow.  (It is intentional that it might well be a hell of a lot faster than making an object by hand, but still.)  I'm guessing he's supposed to ask someone before doing anything even slightly questionable.

I'm okay with just, say, going with the idea that Tommy's dad is capable of somehow investigating if Tommy's been doing anything he really shouldn't.  And Tommy knows this, and probably doesn't know how it works or how to evade it.  So nothing a moderately stern father would kick his ass for, which probably covers most serious abuses anyway.  (It's possible he is occasionally in touch to make sure that dangerous-sounding objects are things the teachers already know about, i.e. that Tommy is only doing that stuff under supervision.)

Tenjin was, incidentally, known as a god of natural disasters before the scholarship thing eclipsed that in the general view of him.  Presumably he would not actually strike his son with lightning, but it's the kind of thing that makes you respect the guy's potential anger.

Cool.  Uh, sorry, can I get some specific feedback on what you think the minimum time for a permanent creation should be?  I'm not sure what scale is appropriate here.

Say like ten to fifteen seconds?  That's longer than you think.

I'm strangely comfortable with that.

Of course that's a lot of space for description, but I'm probably going to have a lot of fun Googling language ideas.  (I presume that footnotes would be a wise choice so people don't have to follow me around the Internet to get the joke.)

Yeah sorry, I wrote it like a technical report and got trapped in the mindset... Essentially, his power is telekinesis but I got caught up in trying to make a sensible/physics mechanic. If it will make it easier, I'm happy to just rewrite it as more traditional telekinesis - limited by the amount of energy from his body that he can provide to the effect. If he uses too much energy, his body enters a state of hypoglycaemic shock as it can't give up any more energy without first metabolising fat. The minor ability would change so that he can affect himself with his own TK - allowing him to fly.

Is this version better?

That's better, yes.  I just need to be able to wrap my head around it heh.

I have edited the descriptions for the major and minor powers on the sheet. Let me know if the new version is okay and sorry for causing so much confusion!

LunarSage, I'd be interested in writing up Tess's grandfather as an NPC. Or possibly even a teacher, though I'm not sure how the hero staff would take to  a retired supervillain wishing to teach.

Retired and reformed, or at least he claims to be. He's basically told people he just wants to live out the rest of his years in peace with his family.

His two main powers are electrical manipulation and being able to heal himself by draining electricity, including restoring his youth. Which means "rest of his years" is "as long as he has a reliable power source."

I have Lara Avery and Alice Pleasance Liddell and a teacher in the making I will link here as well when she gets approved. So please check out the girls and let me know if any of you would like to work out some links for rp goodness. :)

Lara Avery sounds like she could get along well with Connor...

Heya MM... you're certainly welcome to play.  The OOC thread is here and it has all the IC thread links on page one.

You should know though that the only GM of the game at this point is Josietta and she won't be taking as active a role and she and I once did.  Stress got the best of the both of us and I dropped (as did a few players)... but there are those who are staying and continuing to play as far as I know.  If you want to know the whole story, it can be read in the last few pages of the OOC.
