Witching hour: noun The time of day when supernatural creatures such as witches, demons and ghosts are thought to appear and be at their most powerful.

A young woman is thrust into the world of the supernatural when assailants attempt to murder her and steal from her possession a family heirloom that has long been with her family, passed down from generation to generation. The assailants are interrupted by two helpful, albeit strange beings who stop these men from successfully harming the young woman or stealing her precious heirloom. They do, however, kidnap the young woman's mother, now most definitely leaving her with no option but to trust these two strangers who saved her from certain doom.

The Soul Eater and The Oracle

Legend has it that these were the very first beings made by the Creator. Lovers turned enemies they now stand at arms with one another, though their previous romantic relationship together causes an undeniable sexual tension between the two.

The Soul Eater possesses the power to devour one's soul which results in that soul laying dormant for however long the Soul Eater desires or that soul being eradicated from existence itself. He's similar to an Incubus, but a bit of a deviant from a proper Incubus, though he has the same seductive charms. He has been fighting for good since the dawn of his existence.

The Oracle is said to see all and thus can temper with the strings of fate if given the opportunity. She is beautiful, sharp, seductive and deep down quite emotional. She had fought for good until the Enemy somehow turned her. She, however, has her reasons for turning.

The position of the Oracle is reserved. The position of the Soul Eater is reserved.

The Girl and the Heirloom

A girl who has led a normal life up until this point. She's not much sure about this new fantastical world hidden within the grimy streets of this city she lives in, but she does know one thing- this heirloom must be something valuable...

The position of the girl is reserved.

The Enemy

Like any bad guy, this man is hungry for power, all but ready to take over the world and for what some could only presume to be for the worst. He wishes to start the world from scratch so that he may fine tune it so it can blossom into Utopia. The reasons behind his desire to create this new world are not clear, but being so driven, there must be some fuel behind his actions.

The position of the Enemy is reserved.

The Shapeshifter

A shapeshifting creature who has been taken under the wing of the Soul Eater. The two have a sibling like relationship, teasing each other and watching out for each other. She is a young girl whose family has been murdered by the Enemy.

The position of the Shapeshifter is reserved.

The Twins

Nothing is thicker than the bond of blood and these twins prove that and in more ways than one. They are the mirror image of each other but their personalities couldn't be any more different than they are. One carries the innocence of a dove and the other is licked by the flames of Hell itself. Despite their polar personalities these two have an unbreakable bond- as both sisters and lovers. Beware the presence of the twins, for being graced by them can either be very good or very bad.

The position of the mad twin is reserved. The position of the innocent twin is open.

The Wolf

This young man has the spirit of a trickster, but despite his given title, he is not a wolf nor does he turn into a wolf. However, he does hunt in the night for his prey. His loyalty lies with whoever pays for it the highest. It is said he collects hearts for his hobby, but in reality, he doesn't actually carve the beating hearts out of young women, he simply drains that lovely blush from their skin.

The position of the Wolf is reserved.

The Gargoyle

The Gargoyle is full of knowledge and always seeking more, but beware this creature for the motives of this kind aren't always what they seem. Often used as a messenger of sorts, this creature is most often associated with evil intentions. The Gargoyle remembers anything and everything it has ever seen or heard. Can appear as stone or as flesh and can fly.

The Gargoyle is an original character and therefore reserved by its creator.

Original characters welcome in addition to premade roles, simply fill out the below character skeleton. However, premade roles must be filled for the role play to begin. If interested in one of the premade roles, simply state it along with a character skeleton for that role.

Character skeleton:

Name:
Age:
Race/Power(s):
Good/Bad:
Brief Background:

Please provide a picture along with your skeleton, and please no illustrations. Supernatural characters such as vampires, incubi/succubi, werewolves, shapeshifters, etc. are all welcome. However, there is only one Soul Eater and one Oracle. Human characters are also welcome. Try to keep about an even number of races, though. I don't want thirty vampires and three shapeshifters.

Soul Eater

Name: Tebastian
Nickname: Tabby, Tabs
Age: 23
Race/Power(s): Soul Eater/Eating souls, eradicating existences, draining energy from others, charm
Good/Bad: Good
Brief Background: Tebastian has long fought against the evil trying to derail the world. He has kept watch over the young woman in question for some time now, quietly protecting her behind the scenes. He has helped form a secret underground movement to keep her protected and has succeeded up until this point to keep her distant from the world of the supernatural. He has been long preparing for the day he would have to meet her. Tebastian is a sweet and genuine person who, for such a nasty title as 'Soul Eater' is playful and easy going. He has a natural charm that women easily fall victim to and uses this to his advantage, feeding off their energy, draining them during sex, though not normally killing them (accidents happen, unfortunately). He has a past with the Oracle, to whom he has deep feelings for. Once madly in love with her, he was heartbroken when she left his side to take her place by the side of the Enemy. Whenever the two cross each others paths, they tease and taunt each other, sexual tension ever high between the two.

Oracle

Nickname: Eyja (from Freyja)
Age: 23
Race/Power(s): Oracle/All-Sight: Her eyes see everything, past, present, and future. By seeing the past, she knows what has been. By seeing the present, her eyes tell her what is, far beyond what human eyes can see, and by seeing the future, she tampers with the possibilities of what can be.
Good/Bad: Bad.
Brief Background: Once in love with the Soul Eater, Eyja used her power to preserve the good she saw in the world. That was in the past however, and as the future approached her reach, her views seemed to change, and she left Tebastian, and joined The Enemy. Calm and collected, never alarmed or angry, she is only really ever apparently passionate about anything when the Soul-Eater is around, or brought up. There still exists, for her, a great sexual tension with the Soul Eater, and she can be somewhat cruel in teasing him as a result.

Girl

Name: Madison Eldridge
Age: 17
Race/Power(s): Human/None that she’s aware of
Good/Bad: Good
Brief Background:

Madison has had a rough but fairly normal childhood. Her father left when she was five. Her mother, Laura Eldridge, told her he’d died but she knew better. For the first few years after he left, Madison would catch her mother talking to him on the phone very late at night after she’d thought Madison to be asleep. When she allows herself to think about it, the sound of her mother crying behind closed doors still haunts her and has created a smoldering of hatred for the man she barely knew.

After her father left, that’s when the moving started. Every year at the end of school, Madi’s mother packed up all their belongings and moved them clear across the country. Like clockwork. She’d lived in a dozen or so states at this point. Every year was the same: starting over at a new school, making friends, and then having to leave it all behind. Madi quickly tired of the heartbreak and began closing herself off to the idea of close relationships.

The only person she’d ever had a close relationship with besides her mother was her grandmother, Ava Eldridge, her father’s mother. They’d visit there as often as they could in the summer while her mother figured out a new place to live. Grammy would always regale her of fantastical stories and tales of things that went bump in the night. The passing of her grandmother the previous year hit Madison harder than anything ever had. She can still remember the feel of her Grammy’s warm wrinkled hand in hers and the look in Grammy’s eyes before she passed. It had seemed peaceful but underneath there was a fear that chilled Madi to the bone.

As for academics, Madison has always been an A/B student. She was fairly studious, paying attention and doing her homework. She hoped to go to college one day, though leaving her mother was going to be difficult. Madi’s mother seemed to be quite codependent, being overprotective and not letting Madi out of her sight much. She isn’t sure how her mother will cope without her. So for now, she’s just working at the local diner to help her mother pay rent while dreaming of the bigger and better.

Madi’s personality is not very complex. She’s caring and kind, slightly spontaneous, and has a zest for life. She loves to read and be outdoors and has always had an affinity for animals. She prefers a walk through the forest or laying by a lake to wandering about a city. She hasn’t got much time for being shy but she’s not forceful by any stretch of the imagination. She’s still a virgin and the closest thing to a kiss she’s had was little Tommy Wilkins on the playground in third grade.

Enemy

Name: Mike River
Age: 657 (Appears 25)
Race/Power(s): Human spellcaster (severely limited abilities), carries drugs that could enhances him in a manner of ways
Good/Bad: Bad, though he doesn't think that
Brief Background:

Outwardly a post-doc at a world leading university studying genetics, Mike is more than he seems, first he isn't as old as he claims or appears. born in the fourteenths century, he grew up to be a spell caster with a strong hatred for humanity, seeing the world as filthy and rotten, he sought out on his rule the world with his powers. Unfortunately for him despite his prowess he was stopped before he could do much. Bested by his enemies with his soul stripped and his powers gone.

He laid dormant for many hundreds of years, when he finally woke from his slumber he realized that the world had changed, many things that he could achieve only through casting spells could now be done through technology, still severely weakened he sought to fill the gap of his power by studying the field of science.

Through his years he had realized that with the advancement of technology his reach was now a lot further, while before taking over the world might had been a tedious and long task, given how fast he could reach places now everything was almost at his footsteps. He realized that the world in it's current state would be a lot easier to take over.

Of course his first and foremost task at the moment seemed to be obtaining the heirloom that had caught his most utter interest. It is not hard to see that it is important to him. His reasons for wanting it still remains unknown to anyone other than himself. After decades of tracking it, his men had finally located the heirloom and were close to getting it, but it appears that he was not without enemies, now he must neutralize them.

His guise of a university student is very useful for him to use their facilities to manufacture his drugs that he would use to counter others more powerful than him.

Shapeshifter

Name: Lizzie Cohen
Nickname: Liz, Lizzie.
Age: 19
Race/Power(s): Able to Shift into animals and people.
Good/Bad: Good
Brief Background: Lizzie was young when The Enemy killed her parents, leaving her orphaned and roaming the streets alone. It wasn't until she ran across Tebastian that she felt safe once again. With his help Lizzie was able to understand why her family was targeted and how she could control her innate ability to shift. Before Tebastian she was unable to control the forms she took, as it was mostly on reflex. Lizzie is often seen tagging along with Tebastian, most viewing their relationship as a brother/sister nature. Through thick and thin they stick together, eyes and ears ever peeled for The Enemy.

Wolf

Name: Roland Roth.
Age: 24.
Race/Power(s): Demon-Human crossbreed. Heightened senses, increased strength and speed, quickened reflexes and healing, decelerated aging. Somewhat susceptible to to items or powers that are harmful to demons or similar beings. ((He's not Superman, but he does have an edge over normal humans.))
Good/Bad: Mercenary.
Brief Background: True assassins are not trained, they are born. Roland is not the first of his family to be a mercenary, nor will he be the last. His father and uncle taught him the ways of clean murder, of blades and firearms, misdirection and disguise, all from an early age. More importantly, he learned the history and philosophy of murder-for-hire, the 'why' behind the 'how and what'. He was simultaneously taught to reject the vices and virtues of everyday society, as well as moderation; the only real virtue is success, the only vice, failure. What constitutes either is determined by the individual.

Roland killed his first man when he was fifteen, his first woman six months later. Neither was important or dangerous, neither was a contracted killing; they were just training targets. He has killed more people since then, for money or favors, for his own satisfaction. He is not a serial killer, because serial killers can be traced, always taking their targets in the same way; Roland regards that as unprofessional, sloppy, unacceptable. He doesn't kill for public fame, because anyone who wants his services knows how to find him.

He kills because he was born to, and he has become very good at it over the years.

Gargoyle
Picture unavailable at the moment.
Name: Jade
Age: 17
Race/Power(s): Gargoyle/ Remembers anything and everything it has ever seen or heard. Can appear as stone or as flesh and can fly.
Good/Bad: Leans more towards the side of evil but if it sees that a side is going to lose it will switch.
Brief Background: The Gargoyle is a devious creature, never truly showing its true intentions. While they may appear human to another's eyes, it is merely an illusion. The creature remains in its beastly form at all times but has the ability to turn to stone and become nothing more than a statue on a building. Don't blink or it may disappear before your eyes.

The Fox, Trickster Spirit

Name: Renard De Reve
Age: 20
Race/Power(s): The Fox, Trickster Spirit: Renard is able change his physical form to whatever he can imagine, within certain limits. Any injuries inflicted on someone while he is not in his natural form vanish when he shifts back, even death. He can not change the proportions of a creature he takes the form of by more than 50%, in either direction. Renard is also able to create real feeling illusions. These illusions are true to the five basic senses of humans, though supernatural entities can see through them if they focus. Physically speaking, Renard is quicker, stronger, and tougher than mortal humans. But he is not a fighter and doesn't care for combat, and any well trained mortal fighter would be able to take him fairly easy without his powers.
Good/Bad: Neither. The Trickster does things for his own amusement, or so he claims. He is currently aiding the side of evil. (They have cookies)
Brief Background: Renard lived most of his life pulling off magic tricks and simple illusions. And deceiving people, always deceiving them. It would be hard to say that Renard had ever told a straight answer in his life, instead preferring to give them riddles and puzzles. He only recently 'joined' up with the Enemy. Renard sees the Oracle as a challenge, her eyes seeing through his illusions every time, and the Shapeshifter as a rival, despite what she may think.  He shares the free spirited nature of the Wolf, but lacks his taste for violence.

Human Boy

Name: Paul McDade
Age: 20
Race/Power(s): Human
Good/Bad: Neutral
Brief Background: The son of a local preacher he's had a very sheltered life growing up, he's having a hard time with becoming a part of the "real" world and struggling with what he was raised to believe and what is going on around him. Despite Paul's identity crisis, he is a young man with a huge heart who feels for those who are in pain or injured. He is going to school to study medicine and often acts on a personal feeling of morality that is sometimes conflicted with the teachings of his father. He has a beautiful smile and a soft lovely singing voice that would surprise you. If and when Paul makes friends he remains loyal and defends them until the end. Any weakness that he feels in is the doubts that he has in himself and the belief that he may not be good.

The Hunter

Name: Alexander (Alex) Eldridge
Age: 41
Race/Power(s): Human with some demon/ Stronger and faster than normal human with a mild resistance to damage he can still be hurt it just takes a lot more to do so. His primary gift is the ability to sense anything not natural and get a general idea of what is unnatural about people and things.
Good/Bad: Good, but has an attitude of the end justifying the means.
Brief Background: Alex’s father was killed when he was only fourteen by “The Enemy” and since then he has hated the enemy. Unknown to him though his father being a quarter demon was actually working for “The Enemy” but failed him one too many times so was executed. Alex believes his father was a good man and was simply murdered. When his own powers started to manifest near his eighteenth birthday he swore revenge on the man that killed his father.

The hunt was put on hold when Alex fell in love with his high school sweetheart and married her at the age of twenty. A year later he started actively hunting “The Enemy” his actions caught the attention of some very secretive people in the government. He was recruited to hunt down and kill those thought to be a threat to national security especially those that were not entirely human. By the time Madi was born he was already deep into the dark never seen under belly of the government. He would spend days even weeks out on assignment. It becomes increasing clear to him that he has been making enemies both of the natural and the unnatural many of which would go after those he loves to hurt and weaken him. Although it broke his heart when Madi was only five it was decided by both him and his beloved wife that to protect them he would have to leave. Many tears were shed by both that last night they were together.

After a few years strangers started showing up near the home of Alex’s wife and daughter with an unusual interest in them. One night after he kills two werewolves that had been intent on getting into their home, as he never stopped loving them and often kept an eye on them to protect them from the shadows, he calls his wife and tells her it is no longer safe there. It tore his heart out to watch his daughter have to grow up never making any real lasting friendship as she had to move every year, but no matter where they went he always found them and continued to keep watch over them.

With Madi approaching her eighteenth birthday Alex feels the need to be near her, not only to protect her but also to help her as her powers, having demon blood from him in her, start to manifest. He knows they are there as he could always sense them lying dormant. He has no idea what gifts she will have but they are there. As it gets closer to her birthday Alex is never far from her, but has yet to reveal himself to her. Protecting his daughter and seeing her through the development of her powers is even more important than his hunt for “The Enemy.”

The Siren

Name: Giulia Sirenia Bellini - answers to 'Jules'

Sex/Age: Female/Appears late 20's

Appearance: Giulia - often called Jules - seems a very slender young woman that appears almost helpless in her manner.  Her hair is a soft red and tends to lay in soft, tiny curls, streaming down her back in complete abandon and past her hips.  Her eyes are a changeable colour that mirrors the hue of ocean water.  She favours simple clothing in plain or natural colours that is generally made of very thin linen, such as white, soft blues, and pink, and grey.  Jules has a tendency not to wear socks with her only shoe of choice in sandals - if she even has shoes on at all.  She smells of fresh ocean water, subtle wild flowers, and sandalwood.  Juliet can choose to change her form at will.  Has a pattern of iridescent scales upon her hips that curls around her thighs that generally remains as it is rather than shifting to look like human skin.  She is tall, standing to nine inches above five feet.

Personality & Other Traits: Jules tends toward an eerie calm unless riled, and the odd note of wisdom.  She loves collecting sea shells, books, and shiny baubles especially.  Juliet has a quick temper - and can be easily riled in specific cases.  She does not like being interrupted when speaking, and has an almost obsessive relationship with music and those that practice its craft - often found trailing near coffee houses, and concerts.  Jules has something of an obessession with sweetbread, and various other sugary things.  They are nearly about the only things in existence that can calm her ire - save a gift of a bauble - the shiner the better.  She is extremely protective toward children - as they have no innate fear of the water as adults do.

Race and Powers: Siren (Mermaid) - can manipulate water and air with her thoughts - but needs to be close to water.  Can use both elements to create a shield of protection around her body that is capable of repelling any magic for several minutes at a time, reflecting it back on the user.  Sees into the hearts of men, and is able to mesmerise them with her voice and eyes, inspiring protective instincts, and lust that feels almost near to love (these abilities will only be used upon player permission).  Can create seaweed, and other sea plants to choke a mortal to death, or drag them under water.  Can create a water bubble to stop a person from breathing due to the inability to escape.  Upon an immortal of similar power, her abilities generally stun them for several minutes at a time (this is left up to the player of the other character(s) in question).

Brief History:  Very little is likely known of Jules, though plenty is of her sisters and kin in that of the siren ... and Merfolk.  She was born in the Adriatic Sea, deep beneath the waves eight centuries ago - though it is not something she is likely to speak of, except in alluding to the beauty of the sea.  A ship off the coast found her on land and wounded.  She fell in love with the Captain rather than the other way around that is tradition, and so chose to marry him - thus ensuring her 'immortality'.  He eventually died of old age, and she remained by the side of his family as a protector and good luck charm  until the last of the Captain's family died out that she knew of - which was around 1750.  It was after this that Jules travelled the world, giving variations of her name to men - particularly those with vocal talent - and being cared for by those that were not immune to her charms.

She knows of the Enemy but has never seen his - or her face, and generally chooses to remain neutral in the fight unless someone she cares for is harmed to the point nearing death.

Looks very interesting. Quite keen on playing "the enemy", just have a question about how active he is in pursuing his goals, since it would be a lot easier (not to mention more fun) for him to be out in the open without his actual motives be detected.

Also do I post the char sheet here for approval or should I PM it?

To answer your question, the Enemy is definitely out in the open with his motives. However, naturally, he doesn't see himself as being the "bad guy" since he justifies his actions and motives as most probably would.

And I prefer you post the character skeleton here - thanks for asking. :)

I'm interested in the 'Shapeshifter'. Anything specific in which the character shifts into? Is it animals or other people?

I'm definitely interested in The Oracle. Since its connected to the Soul Eater, it might be nice to talk that over before I write up a character skeleton.
I am filled with recollections of lives I have not lived.

Still looking for an appropriate picture, anything above is subject to change as per the GM's wishes.

Looks good! I will allow other players to apply before guaranteeing you the role but you have a likely chance of being given the role. Also, your character may be human or a supernatural character, whichever you prefer.

This is up to you what she can and cannot shift into. She could shift strictly animals, strictly people or both animals and people.

I will give you a say in this if you are given the role. I don't do first come, first serve, but the first to apply normally does get the role because their writing is normally up to my standards for the game and you fit that. To answer your question, you can make him as widely or little known of as you would like. Granted, some characters will be able to identify the Enemy, such as the Soul Eater and the Oracle. But perhaps you would not want most or all characters to be able to identify him yet, then this too can happen.

I believe Octopus said that you can make original roles in addition to the premade ones. I'm looking at making a sort of trickster character, who would being doing things for his/her own amusement. Not sociopathic or anything, but the Trickster wouldn't be an ally of either good or bad.

Wow, I really must do a better job at reading. That is interesting, I kind of like that idea but I won't steal it I promise. If it's ok with Octopus I would like to take on the role of The Gargoyle. The Gargoyle is full of knowledge and always seeking more, but beware this creature for the motives of this kind aren't always what they seem. Often used as a messenger of sorts, this creature is most often associated with evil intentions.
For the rest of the month, my schedule will be awkward and unpredictable. Please pardon my absenses and delayed replies.

Would you allow a trickster type character?

Yes.

I might have missed it when skimming through the replies but is the part of the Oracle still available?

It is still available but one person has applied it for it so far.

Yes, you may create original characters. Make a character skeleton for your original character and I will post him/her in the thread. :)

Nickname: Eyja (from Freyja)
Age: 23
Race/Power(s):Oracle/All-Sight: Her eyes see everything, past, present, and future. By seeing the past, she knows what has been. By seeing the present, her eyes tell her what is, far beyond what human eyes can see, and by seeing the future, she tampers with the possibilities of what can be.
Good/Bad: Bad.
Brief Background:Once in love with the Soul Eater, Eyja used her power to preserve the good she saw in the world.

Lovely. Thanks so much! I will be sure to tell you (as well as others) if they have been given the role.

Would my trickster need a defined gender? :)

I wouldn't want to take away from the Shapeshifter's abilities. I was thinking something like the different trickster spirits throughout the different lore.

Name: Jade
Don't blink, however, for it may disappear before your eyes. A tip to remember about this creature when face to face with her, is that she is quite fond of riddles and such.

Beast Form:

Human Illusion:

The only difference is her eyes are blue.

((Sorry for the lack of a full picture... It's giving me trouble today.))

Narianna

I would like to apply for the girl with the heirloom part. Is that still open? If so, I'll get a character skeleton up as soon as possible.

Nobody has applied yet for the role.

Aurora Wayland

(Will change character as the GM sees fit)

Sorry, I missed the latter part of this statement. If your character is neither good nor bad, then you may make him/her/it neutral. This is acceptable.

As to address the rest of you, those who have submitted character skeletons have been accepted for your respective roles and have been posted in the thread. As for those of you who have shown interest in a role, but have yet posted a character skeleton, the role is marked as pending, simply because I have yet to receive a character skeleton. Those who have already shown interest with pending roles will most likely get the part once the character skeleton has been posted.

FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN JOINING: For anybody else interested in this roleplay who has yet to contact me either by posting in this thread or through PM, there is still room for original characters. First post here to notify me of your interest and, when you have time, post your character skeleton here as well. I will then contact you through PM as far as weaving your character into the scheme of things.

FOR THOSE WHOSE ROLES HAS BEEN ACCEPTED OR ARE PENDING: For those of you with accepted/pending roles, I will contact you regarding your character and their role in the scheme of things, providing you with confidential information.

Otherwise then that, I look forward to this game. I'll have a chat thread up for us players to socialize outside of the game. The role play will more than likely begin tomorrow, giving time for more people to join before it begins. Players can still join the game after the game begins, as well. The actual game will take place in one singular thread with a simple tagging system to help the player keep up with locations and character interactions.

Don't have much yet, and I'm not sure where to go image hunting.

The Fox, Trickster Spirit
Name: Renard De Reve

Age: 20

Race/Power(s): The Fox, Trickster Spirit- Renard is able change his physical form to whatever he can imagine, within certain limits.
