Could we (or do we) have an option to really Minimize the Shoutbox?

You don't see the big "disable shoutbox" button left of the search bar?

Yes, I do. That still leaves half of my 20" monitor covered before I can see anything I want to see on E. it would simply be nice to turn the entire thing off is all.

Thanks!

Do you mean to set your font size that huge or?

Yes sir. I have vision issues and I have the font size high on all my browsed pages to make it readable.

That setting, along with the Default / Widescreen options for the theme are not retained after browser exit.   Firefox / OSX
Cookies relating to the logged in session are retained.

Some people may have to set it manually. Be sure to set elliquiy2, and not 'default'. For some reason that doesn't take.

I mean this:

Widescreen should help some what with that issue. :) It's right between the pink boxes and is the first link. :)

I can confirm that changing the theme does remember that the shoutbox is disabled :)

It did, as did the theme. It will work. Thank you (all) for the help.

I removed some text to make it a bit shorter, also.

While I'm sure that my setup is not the typical, it's not all that unusual.  And for me, half the vertical real estate on the page is advertising stuff, and I actually have to scroll down to even see content.  I work with a 24 in flat screen at 1920x1200. and at 150% magnification (because not all of us have 20 or 30 year old eyes, and can read ten point type squeezed together without difficulty).  I work with two windows open side by side (a reasonable expectation on a monitor that is 22" wide).

And this what I see (click to enlarge to full size):

I've been a bit irked by the size of the top section as well, but that info has to be seen, so I'm not sure what to recommend about it. :/ Honestly, I think once a notification or fundraising thing has been seen, it should be dismissable. A page is not well designed if you have to scroll down to see what you went there for.

I think that once it picks up speed that the giant box can be replaced with patreon and pay pal symbols like before. But right now when it's needed and while people need explanation on what patreon is, we can deal. The important info is at the top and small enough that a full sized screen with normal font doesn't have to scroll down. It's honestly the same as going to a site and having a news reel. Only if we had it along the side it'd mess with everything else. Honestly,  given the flow of the site,  the only issue I've had with it is my tendency to push the "show unread posts since last visit" button instead of the "show new replies to your post" button. Even on my phone with it's huge ass font, with everything disabled, I can see the content beginning.
