So I've had this niggling notion in my head for months now for a sandbox-type game set in the World Serpent Inn, an Inn that is, in fact, a demiplane connected to all the planes, and, in this particular case, every conceivable Prime Material, from Eberron to Toril to Golarion to homebrews (information on the Inn can be found here and here for those unfamiliar with it).

I'm not entirely set on what I want to do with it yet, but that's where the sandbox elements come in. Either the players are free to come and go as they please from the Inn, or at the beginning of the game, the Inn can find itself cut off from extraplanar travel, the portals that it uses to reach other worlds rendered nonfunctional. It depends on what prospective players are most interested in.

Likewise, I haven't settled yet on what I want the game to be like, mechanically. 3.5, 4th, Next playtest, Pathfinder, Pathfinder Mythic Playtest, and even freeform are all on the table, as is level. It really depends on what prospective players are most interested in, so, if you're interested, please, speak up, tell me what you'd like!

We'll be going with Pathfinder.

- Starting level is tentatively set at 14.
- Standard Wealth
- Point Buy (Epic Fantasy, 25 points) is preferred
- Any class from Paizo Pathfinder material is allowed. 3rd Party Pathfinder and 3.5 material will be admitted on a case by case basis.
- Races from the Advanced Races guide are allowed. Other races will be admitted on a case by case basis.

I'll update this first post as more details get hammered out, so stay tuned!

Most importantly before I get this game off the ground, I very much appreciate if someone might be willing to step in as the DM in case I disappear.

You have my attention, good sir, though I'd prefer to avoid 4th edition or Freeform a this point.

Definitely interested in this. Edition is not much of a problem for me as long as we're using a d20 system (I am most familiar with that system).

This certainly has my interest.  I've got a personal preference for D&D 3.5, as far as systems go, and preferably not low-level.

avorae

I am interested in this as well. As far as form I prefer either 3.5 or pathfinder

If I can suggest, maybe using Legend from http://www.ruleofcool.com? :)

It's easy to learn if you've already played a D20 system game, the classes are all very balanced, and fluff can be added to any class to make it how you like. The 1.0 release is on the 17th.

Otherwise, I'd be interested in this for a Pathfinder or heavily houseruled 3.5e.

Personally, I'm leaning towards Pathfinder at this point, given the responses, but it's still early in development, so that could change.

indarkestknight

As an update, if we end up going with Pathfinder, all Paizo classes are free game, as are all ARG races. Classes and races from other sources will be looked at on a case by case basis.

Preferences as far as level goes?

NicciKotor

At least level 4 is good. Some classes, like the monk, only get interesting past level 4.

Anything in the 3-7 range. Higher and lower tend to have too little or too many options.

Dracorion

I'd like to note my interest too. I'd prefer 3.5, though I'm also willing to learn Pathfinder.

As for level, anything 4 and above works for me.

ShadowFox89

Anything mid to high levels is fine with me. I'm thinking a girl who got caught stealing from the Inn and got forced into working as a waitress.

Level 14, but that's mostly because, upon looking through the Pathfinder SRD for character ideas, I find myself wanting to play one of these.  I could probably come up with something else if other people don't want to start that high, though.

As long as no one has any objections, I'm willing to allow a Gylou as a PC.

Excellent. ^^ I'll do my best to make her into a fun character to play alongside.

Plausible, certainly! Though she may stand out! Most of the wait-staff are half-fey gnomes!

Kunoichi

Hmm.  I was considering having my Handmaiden Devil work as one of the wait-staff, as well, but looking over her racial skills, she gets Perform (Sing) on her list.  Maybe she could be working as an entertainer in the World Serpent Inn, instead?

Muse

*chuckles*  If I wind up providing muscle and we have enough levels, maybe I'll pitch my storm giant paladin.

But if that's too much, perfectly ordinary PCs are fine with me.

Well, we'd have to start at a minimum of level 14 for me to play a Gylou, and looking through the SRD, Storm Giants are CR 13...

Of course, they're also Huge in size, so there is the question of how you'd fit in what is presumably a Medium-scale inn. :P

Marie Reynolds

If recruitment is still active I would like to jump in on this.
