Interest Check: Henshin Heroes and Heroines

Before I bring up my proposal, there are a few rules I have to bring up to make sure we keep the game fun for those participating:

  • First of all, god modding is not allowed. Characters should work within their limits and are not unbeatable at everything. If I see any character like that I will ask you to change it. If the character acts in a way it shouldn't in the game you will be kicked out. Please consider this as the warning.
  • Character acceptance is not on a first-come-first-served basis. They will be judged on factors that the GM will decide on and will be rejected if they fail to comply to certain factors.
  • Player knowledge is not character knowledge. That said, you may play your character, but you are not your character. Do not take offense to what happens to your character, especially if the character's actions resulted in some embarrassing outcome.
  • This game is meant for people to have fun with. Please leave any personal issues at the door before coming in.
  • Futanari (or futas for short) characters will not be allowed in this game. Characters can transform into the opposite gender, but cannot retain elements of the original gender during transformation.
  • About human/animal hybrids (furries): I prefer the player's main character to be human with animal traits than animal with human traits. You can however go wild with villain characters and supporting characters.
  • Posting rate: at least three posts a week, or a post every other day. If a character is being waited on and I don't get a response from the player, I will have the character treated as an NPC to keep the activity going.
  • RL issues: everyone has them. They will get in the way of gaming and that is understandable. As much as possible let me know if RL is going to take you away to some place, this will let us move your character somewhere safe and sound until you return.
  • Consent: This is an expansion to the first rule, but I feel require a more detailed explanation. Players will not want to have their characters mistreated by others (unless the situation does call for the character to be punched in the face). When in doubt, ask the player and the GM.
By sending an RTJ in the interest thread, it means you have agreed to the above rules and you are willing to abide by the rules (however nonsensical they may end up becoming) made by the GM.

If you have read the above rules and understood, congratulations! Hope we can have fun together. If not... we'll find out soon enough...

Now that we have that out of the way, we may proceed to the meat of the matter!

Idea Summary:
Heroes/heroines in the style of Japanese shows, with the protagonist transforming into his/her alter ego to fight against the forces of evil! Tokusatsu and magical girls are inspirations for this. Your characters have recently become Henshin Heroes/Heroines either due to coincidence, necessity, or some other reason and now has to fight against evil forces that decided that your hometown and the rest of Earth is their oyster (or just that humans have been so abusive that they have to be shown the door).

Fortunately you are not alone! The constant appearance of evil organizations threatening the planet has brought about the establishment of a support organization for Henshin Heroes and Heroines of all walks of life! Hearing of your recent achievements have brought you to their attention, and now they want you to be part of the team as a unified force against the onslaught of threats to mankind!

Setting

In a not-so-distant future, the world has become home for cyborgs, robots, aliens, angels, fairies, and other races. This happened due to the constant attacks by various evil organizations on Earth, from space, the underworld, and other dimensions. In an effort to fully utilize the strengths of heroes that arose to fight these threats to the planet, the Battle & Defense Group of Earth (BADGE for short) is formed!

It has been a year since BADGE was organized and it has brought about a significant improvement in the daily life of people on Earth. This does not mean evil forces have given up, however! Recently newly risen organizations from the shadows have formed uneasy allegiances, all for the sake of overthrowing BADGE and acquiring that sweet-tasting blue fruit known as Earth...

Character Restrictions
For now we will not be accepting the following kinds of characters:

  • Angels/Celestials - simply put entities that come from Heaven. If it has wings and uses powers of light and holiness, it's an angel. This includes Fallen Angels as well.
  • Ancients - characters that hail from the dawn of time, or have lived more than possible for a human lifespan.
  • Fae - individuals from Celtic folklore. This includes various mythical beings relevant to such tales.

I am not allowing characters from the above listed concepts since we have enough of them, and I know there are more kinds of characters possible out there. Look back up the idea summary if you want a reference for ideas or ask me for assistance. This restriction is not permanent and can be lifted as the story progresses.

Here's an example of a filled Hero sheet:

Physical Description:
Kojuro stands at a height of 5'6", sporting short, black hair that is well-combed from left to right while eyes are brown in color. He is often seen well-dressed in a buttoned shirt with a vest over it and slacks along with black leather shoes. When on the field he sports a protective gear consisting of technologically advanced arm guards, a vest with a small backpack containing a mobile command package, a visor with an array of sensors and scanners, and terrain-adapting greaves.

As Laser, height remains the same but his hair turns blond and barely reaching the shoulders. His eyes turn a bluish hue and is protected by a visor with a command fin and a pair of communication and sensor fins protruding from the ears. His arms can change into cannon form, allowing him to deliver swift and accurate attacks from great distances.

Personality:
Serious, Adaptable, Perfectionist
Kojuro is a straight-faced individual who has little tolerance for incompetence. He strives to make himself more capable and stronger in preparation for future battles and expects others to do the same. He is not one to leave matters to uncertainty, exerting effort to ensure things are under his control.

Kojuro aspires to see a future when Cybugs have been completely eliminated and peace restored. While he would not admit it, Kojuro secretly dreads that he will become outdated some day.

His likes include reading historical records of various civilizations, analyzing the capabilities and weaknesses of personnel and enemies, and refining tactics to deal with invaders. Kojuro dislikes incompetent individuals who make no effort in improving themselves, uncertain factors, and doing things without a plan.

Background:
Kojuro Seitamashii hailed from a family with a long history in advancing various fields in magic and science, whose lineage included various significant individuals who worked in the shadows until this era. The family has firmly entrenched itself as a strong supporter in the defense against various threats, developing tools and techniques that help protect the peace of the area under their jurisdiction.

Kojuro was a brilliant scientist involved with the development of advanced cybernetics, allowing the use of machines to improve physical capabilities of individuals as well as production of weapons to minimize the loss of manpower against invasions. Things took a bad turn when Cybugs appeared - digital beings capable of taking over machines for their goal of taking over the Earth. After going through an analysis of the Cybugs' nature, it was discovered that implanting a human consciousness in a machine body makes it immune to a Cybug's influence.

While most of his peers tried to find other alternatives to deal with it, Kojuro made the decision to implant his consciousness into a mechanical body. This gave birth to the first Cyber Warrior known as Laser and a precursor for other Cyber Warriors to follow. They were eventually able to overcome the Cybugs and went their separate ways after that. Kojuro returned to his research to develop improvements to his capabilities as well as safeguards against invaders.

Transformation Device: Cyber Driver: Light
A watch-like device that functions as a separate limiter of a Cyber Warrior's powers. Kojuro can activate his transformation by declaring "Cyber Drive Execution!" to synchronize the device and release his limiters. Digital grids surround Kojuro's body to restructure his form and rewrite armor onto his person. Color is then put onto his body after the rewriting, completing his transformation.

Powers and Abilities

  • Digital Body - Laser's body is like solid light, negating effects of structural damage to his body. He can still take damage from attacks, but it will not reduce his combat capability. At the same time this allows him to absorb light energy to restore his supply.
  • Flight - Laser is capable of defying gravity and flying.
  • Aiming Beam - Laser's primary mode of attack, firing an energy beam of high accuracy at his target's weak point.
  • Slicer Beam - Laser's means of dealing with close quarters combat. He can fire short-ranged beams from his torso that is ideal at cutting away at armor.
  • Spectral Phantasm - Laser can create replicas of himself that can act as reflectors for his attacks.
Equipment

  • Defense force on-field equipment - protective equipment issued for agents when required to investigate potentially dangerous locations. Includes scanning gear, communicator, and handheld weapon for self defense.
  • Cyber Driver: Light - Kojuro's Cyber Driver, used for transforming into Laser.
  • BADGE issued vehicles - Kojuro's position grants him the privilege of using either the standard issue car or motorcycle granted to BADGE personnel.
Skills

  • Research and Development - years into his expertise has made Kojuro a natural in the lab, narrowing down on the problems and finding out solutions for them.
  • Firearms (Light) - Kojuro is skilled in handling lightweight firearms, covering handguns and submachine guns.
  • Driving - Kojuro is a skilled driver, and can handle all forms of wheeled motor vehicles.
  • Piloting - Kojuro can handle lightweight aircraft.
  • Cooking - before he turned himself into a machine man, Kojuro needed to eat. He can cook many dishes well due to his preferences for a good meal to fuel his work needs.
  • First Aid - saving lives is important to Kojuro, and the basics he has learned to do until it is natural for him.
Advantages

  • Quick Thinker - Kojuro is quick to take in and process stimuli presented to him. It's hard to surprise him unless you do something really incredible.
  • Adaptable - Necessity is the mother of invention, and Kojuro can figure something out to resolve problems.
  • Man in Machine - Kojuro mostly retains his personality and emotions, which is now enhanced by possessing a state-of-the-art machine body. He does not exactly need to eat, sleep, or deal with other human needs, but does so for the sake of keeping himself in check.
  • Family Legacy - the Seitamashii family ensures every member can fully utilize their potential, and provide resources to support the growth of its members.
Weaknesses

  • To the Letter - Kojuro sticks to rules and plans so hard that he might as well represent them. He won't change on it unless someone of higher authority says so, or something clearly proves him otherwise.
  • Serious - Kojuro tends to be a stick in the mud and isn't really fun at parties. He's more suited to times of action than inaction.
  • Family Obligation - Kojuro is strongly indebted to his family. Time and again he is required to pay back to his family for making him what he is now, and it may sometimes go against personal wishes and other matters.

Physical Description:
Ann stands just a few inches short of six foot at 5'10, with a decidedly athletic frame, pure white hair and warm honey brown eyes. Her usual clothing habits tend towards the simple, shirts, blouses and skirts when formality is needed and lighter, looser clothing when it isn't. She definitely has a preference towards skirts and white clothing, however.
And, of course, there's the thin white choker that she is never, ever seen without, even in the middle of the night when she's had to answer the door. That little strip of white silk and its tiny golden cross has always been there and apparently always will.

Asaria is, if anything, even taller, around 6'4 although she usually stands quite a bit higher than that thanks to her four rather large feathered wings and habit of flying, or at least floating, just about everywhere. Her hair is long, loose and just a bit on the wild side as it seems to be caught in a dramatic wind even when indoors but the main feature that people tend to remember is the eyes. Whatever the light around her, they glow brightly, continuous steady golden lights that do rather make it hard for her to hide at night but then, hiding isn't her way at all.

Personality:
Lazy, caring, sarcastic
Ann, as far as most people know, is a fairly calm, collected young woman with a distinctly dry and cynical sense of humour, not to mention a penchant for sarcasm. A few have spotted her in her natural environment, which turns out to be asleep or lying around with a game console and a large bottle of cola.

Asaria is here to protect humanity and while she'd much rather be working on finishing her living dex in the newest Pokemon game or teabagging noobs online, she is till quite committed to doing her job when she has to. In both forms she can be quite protective, but it typically only comes out when her wings do.

Her usual approach to problems (those that she has to deal with, at least) is to go straight for the source of it and deal with it as quickly as possible so that she can go back to bed.

Background:
Rather than being a human who assumes an angelic form, Asaria is the true, original idenity and the human Ann the skin worn to blend in on Earth. Quite literally, in fact, which makes her transformations paainful and encourages her to refrain from doing so without good cause - although her sedentary nature usually takes care of that part all on its own.
An actual literal angel, Asaria has watched over humanity for a while, taking it as her role to help them when they need outside help but, otherwise, simply letting them do their own thing. Like developing anime and video games and MOBAs.

Transformation Device: Schwertkreuz
The swordcross, the seemingly tiny little bit of gold on Ann's choker is not so much what transforms her into her angelic form but instead what keeps her in her human guise. Simply removing it won't cause her to transform, at least not immediately, but will eventually cause her wings to burst forth and the light to shine from her eyes regardless of her wishes.
Of course if she does want to change, then removing it is all that is needed, especially with her habit or rushing through the part where her wings tear their way out of her back.

Powers and Abilities

  • Eyes of Truth - Those glowing eyes aren't just nightlights, but capable of seeing almost anything for what it truly is. Some illusions might just manage to survive under her gaze, but nearly all attempts to hide, disguise or, indeed, lie in front of her are typically seen through.
  • Flight - Four wings. It wouldn't be remotely fair if she couldn't fly
  • Schwertkreuz - not just a pretty choker, the little sword cross becomes a whole lot bigger and significantly sharper (not to mention on fire) in the hands of an undisguised angel
  • Frickin' Laser Eyes - That glow in her eyes can, in fact, get brighter. A wholel ot brighter, giving her a ranged attack although it does make her eyes sting a bit.
  • Heavenly Body - Literally an angel. She can take quite a bit more damage than any normal human, recover significantly faster and then there's the way quite a lot of common dangers aren't all that dangerous for her. Of course, she comes with her own set of weaknesses and if anyone got hold of some kind of divine weapon she'd be in a whole bunch of trouble.
Equipment

  • Schwertkreuz - Transformation device (kinda) and main weapon.
Skills

  • Gaming - She's spent a lot of time homing this skill
  • Languages - While the tongues of aliens tend to be beyond her, Asaria seems to know a lot of the languages that originate on Earth
  • Cooking - Asaria probably doesn't need to eat, but it helps her blend in. Also, she's discovered that she rather likes food, and has been experimenting in the kitchen for quite a while now
  • First Aid - One of the handful of things that Ann and Asaria take seriously is taking care of others.
  • Singing - Her voice is, those who have heard her sing, almost heavenly.
Advantages

  • Strength - Even for her height, Ann is quite a bit stronger than people expect from a woman her size. Or most men.
  • Trustworthy - Even before people get the chance to see that she's someone who can be trusted, most people tend to. It's almost suspicious, in fact ...
Weaknesses
Flaws your character possesses that throws a wrench into being perfect. These make your character more human (or more relatable if they aren't human to begin with). Your character needs to have at least one weakness and can have up to five of them.

  • Lazy - While Asaria will take action when she absolutely has to, she usually won't at any other time. Ann is a bit better, but only a bit.
  • Easily Distracted - In both forms she tends to get bored easily and often gets sidetracked by something going on around her.

Physical Description: Ami has silver eyes, raven-black locks that stop just above her bottom, and cream-toned skin. Her most noticeable feature are the round swells that jut from her chest and seem to have their gravity for they draw perverts in whether by their own lewd volition or by accident. No fancy top or jacket can hide how ridiculously large her breasts are. Even still, she chooses to dress conservatively with tops that begin just below her throat. She doesn’t wear bras with padding because that would make her chest look even more ridiculous. Comfy sweaters, skirts, thigh socks, and cute shoes is her usual get-up. She will hide behind a pair of black-framed glasses or the rolled collar of her sweater. In the summer, she wears a button-up. Her hair is often pulled back into a high pony tail to keep it out of her face and above her bottom. Secretly, she always wears teddy bear panties.

Ami’s entire ensemble and demeanor changes when she wears the mask of Kamui. Red becomes her color and her guarded flesh comes out. No one would have ever seen the sleeve tattoo creeping around her shoulder to her left arm. No one would have guessed that such a shy girl would even have one. Despite practically wearing little armor and but a wardrobe of red cotton cloth, Kamui moves about unhampered and her entire body, boobs, ass, and all becomes a deadly and tantalizing weapon. The sclera of her eyes are black and pupils red with beady pupils. When she speaks, her voice is deeper and huskier. She’s an entirely different person!

Personality: Shy Klutzy Scary Ami is that girl who has no right being shy because she has the attention of several guys at school even if it is all because they’re just hoping to fuck her and play with her fun bag-sized breasts! What a bimbo! She sits there and tries to act all cute and careful. We all know your game! You’re a liar and a fake. You’re not going to take all the guys for yourself you slut!

In all honesty, Ami is a shy girl afraid to offend and upset others. She is attending her first year of college after taking a break. If studying over the summer is what one would call a break. She wants to pursue a degree in Fashion Design. She has always had a thing for colors. She can dress other people, but besides her conservative clothing, don’t ask her to dress herself. She’s too shy. She couldn’t possibly wear that! Her goals are to design clothes so that people can appreciate themselves without feeling like they have to show some skin to look cute. Unfortunately, showing some flesh is where society is now and so she often has her work altered by her professors and other students stealing her ideas.

Ami is just too non-confrontational to try and defend herself. She steers clear of social conflict and even worse would be physical. She doesn’t like it.

On the other hand, Kamui is a ruthless and deadly warrior. Her executions are a work of art, her blade is the paintbrush and the world is just waiting for her to cover its canvas. Kamui goes after enemies who Ami has marked as a target. Thankfully, all of those enemies tend to be bad people because Ami is a good person.

Background: Ever since Ami discovered a pretty mask at the Akanichi Temple over the summer, trouble just tends to find her. She will be going about her day-to-day life when terrorists try to bomb the subway she’s on or a rapist tries to assault a young woman in an alley. Ami discovered that she could take on the form of a super ninja when she one day curiously donned the mask. A strange power called out to her, persuading her to wear it, and she has been fighting crime ever since. She continues to go about her normal girl life for you know, she has to have her daily dose of boys, school, and the drama that follows them. She keeps her mask and power a secret even though some friends have discovered it before. Strangely, the mask didn’t seem to work for them like it worked for her.

Player Ons and Offs: For a summary, see O/O. For this character, On: A nice handsome guy who respects her. Ami is pretty vanilla while Kamui...don't even try it with her. Off: Too forward, heavy BDSM, controlling my character, nothing left to the imagination. Everything is else is basically written in the link.

Transformation Device:

The mask of Akanichi Kamui is the face of a divine spirit. The spirit of the Red Sun. The mask has chosen Ami to wear it, and even if it was to ever be misplaced, lost, or stolen, it seems to always venture back to its chosen keeper. Ami doesn’t know why the mask has chosen her. It could possibly be because her pure heart inversely makes Kamui more powerful.

Powers and Abilities

  • Enhanced Physical and Mental Capabilities: Kamui moves and thinks on an above-human level. She is a divine spirit. A deadly ninja who can slay opponents on a mythical level. Her mind swiftly processes her every movement, raising her kinesthetic sense to such an advanced level that she can change acrobatic direction in mid-air. She can see swiftly-moving projectiles at a much slower speed, dodging around them or deflecting them back at opponents. Without weapons, her fists and feet can shatter concrete without suffering damage and shatter the horns of nefarious Oni. She moves faster than a breeze, racing across various terrain at vehicular-like speeds. Her body can absorb the punches of super powered opponents, blows that would normally kill a human on impact. She can take a beating and return it ten fold. Her eyes allow her to see a great distance, as a divine spirit, she actually sees more than what mortals sees. She can see demons and other celestial beings.
  • Ninja Magic: Verbally or nonverbally, Kamui can cast spells that grant her abilities to breathe fire, create multiple clones of herself, render herself invisible, summon guardian animal spirits, or to substitute her body for a random object in the immediate vicinity. She can even write these spells in the blood of her slain enemies, taking on the appearance of those who she has slain.
  • Teleportation: She doesn’t exactly teleport. She just moves so fast in an instant that the eyes lose track of her, making her appear to have warped from one point to another.
  • Glide: Kamui cannot fly, but she can silently glide from one place to another. She is also capable of fighting airborne for a brief period before she succumbs to gravity. Gliding allows her to swoop in for a swift and unexpected kill.
  • Ninjutsu Master: From fighting with weapons to fighting without and using tactics to fool and confuse her opponents, Kamui is a master of submission, deception, and execution. She knows various pressure points in the bodies of organic beings and will trigger them to nullify their energy flow or to paralyze them. She even knows a technique for a delayed execution.

Equipment

All of the items listed below are after Ami has transformed into Kamui. Ami doesn’t possess these items.

  • Akanichi or Red Sun: A red blade katana that is three feet-long and as hot as the sun. The blade is so hot that it can nearly melt through anything it touches. Enemies that are sliced by it combust in a red blaze and burn to death.
  • Senbon: These are also known as acupuncture needles. She will use these by inserting them into different points of a person’s body. Mostly in the pressure or chi points to inhibit their movements, thoughts, and even powers.
  • Illusion Bell: When the bell rings, one susceptible to illusions will see things that may or may not be there.
  • Ninja Scroll: A blank scroll for writing magic on and tossing into effect.
  • Magic Rice Ball: The rice ball will take on the form of an appetizing feast. However, if one is to succumb to the temptation of the banquet and eat from it, then it may just be their last meal. Its poisonous to all entities!
  • Shuriken: These stars can slice a person like cheese. You were warned!
  • Smokebomb: You can’t leave home without a trusty smokebomb. She has ones that create a smokescreen and ones that create a horrible funk. The best way to clear a room.
  • Kurogama: Her black-sickled kusarigama. She will use the claw on the other end to scale heights and the sickle for stealthy takedowns. You do not want to mess with her if she’s wielding this item.

Skills

  • Fashion: Ami has an eye for fashion. She is good at pairing colors and picking out the right outfit to compliment one’s beauty. She just loves doing this for if the person’s happy, then she’s happy.
  • Drawing and Design: Well, technically this still goes around her fashion design degree, but she is great at making decorations for parties or gifts. Whatever she can do to help!

Advantages

  • Observant: She not only has an eye for style, she can observe things that normally may go unnoticed. Behavioral patterns, stains, things that weren’t there before, she would make a great investigator if her fashion degree doesn’t work out.

  • Creative: Ami can come up with a great idea on the spot to get through a problem. It might be something no one would have ever thought about in that moment. She’s pretty creative!

  • Busty: She would never admit this but having big breasts can be an advantage at times.

Weaknesses

  • Shy: Ami is a timid thing at times. She’s afraid to do things that she’s uncertain about or could lead to an embarrassing or humiliating situation. She stays wound up tight and others will find it difficult to unwind her from her little ball.
  • Klutz: Sometimes if she’s rushing about or if there’s a lot of peer pressure, Ami’s anxiety will skyrocket and she will transform into a walking disaster. Keep her away from the waitressing business!
  • Only Human: Human weaknesses. She’s just your average big-tittied girl.
  • Non-Confrontational: Most people consider this to be a weakness. Well, she just doesn’t like to get into fights or argue. She will walk away from a situation if she ever feels upset or offended. She won’t stick up for herself. Why when it’s easier to just runaway.
  • Catastrophizer: When something goes wrong, she will assume the worst and continue to spiral downwards. This makes it hard for her to get over a situation.

Kamui is an interesting concept indeed, her normal and hero forms having personalities on the opposite ends. I will polish up my sample character to get up to par to the quality of characters I'm getting.

Stereotype: Shy otaku with a superpowered feminine side.
Alias: Shining Senshi of Hope, Shineon (pronounced 'Shiny-on')

Physical Description: In Civilian mode, Hikaru is... well, kind of pathetic. He stands only an inch or two over five feet, with a chubby and unathletic build. His hair is usually a thick, tousled brown mess, and his thick glasses cover his dark brown eyes. His typical expression brings to mind a confused puppy, or perhaps a vaguely depressed cow. When out and about, he's usually dressed in shorts or cargo pants with lots of pockets, shirts with anime characters on them, and a well-laden backpack.

Hikaru's Transformed mode, Shineon, is thoroughly and completely different. Shineon stands right at six feet tall, with lean and taut muscles, a slim waist, rounded hips and an exceedingly impressive bustline. Shineon's hair is a voluminous, knee-length mane of brilliantly glossy metallic-gold curls, while her eyes have gold irises with blue star-burst shaped pupils. Shineon has a brilliant smile and a confident, genuine demeanor, like a professional idol without the artificiality. Her magical girl suit consists of a ornate gold and white leotard with poofy shoulders, a frilly, open-front white and gold skirt and ornate white-and-gold armor on her stomach, hips, upper chest and calves. She wears a circlet with a small yellow gem centered on her forehead, and a pair of gauntlets and greaved high-heels studded with yellow gems.

Personality: Nervous - Hikaru isn't good around people, particularly around authoritative, famous or attractive people. He's nervous when put on the spot, stammers a lot when he talks and really doesn't like having the spotlight put on him. He's especially nervous about people finding out about his alternate identity. He relies on Shineon's boundless supply of Hope to counteract this when he's transformed.

Heroic - Hikaru is a genuinely good person who just happens to be a henshin hero otaku. Hikaru firmly believes in the ideals such heroes uphold (love, peace, justice, protecting the weak) and seeks to uphold those ideas. The one way to get him out of his typical self-effacing posture is to threaten or mock those ideas.

Determined - Say what you will about Hikaru, but when pushed into a corner or forced into a conflict, Hikaru doesn't back down. He's the sort of person that would get back up even if he's pummeled senseless.

Likes & Dislikes - Hikaru likes sweets (particularly mochi), magical girl anime, blogging, and hot baths. He dislikes spicy foods, sad movies, karaoke and riding in the subway.

Background: Hikaru Asahi has been a fan of henshin heroes and heroines from a very young age. Admittedly, his obsession was jumpstarted after he and the rest of his elementary school class were captured during a monster attack and saved by a magical girl squad when he was nine, but Hikaru wasn't the sort of person that would let a little thing like that get in the way of his newfound love.

Not everyone was enthusiastic about his obsession, of course. His career-driven single mother, Junko, seemed to have a decidedly negative view of heroes in general and magical girls in particular. Still, Hikaru persevered in the face of parental opposition (which was probably helped by the fact that, despite his fanboying, he got good grades in school) and integrated himself into the henshin hero fandom culture.

Don't ask about the doujinshi. It's best if you don't.

However, his biggest shock came one summer, when he visited his maternal grandmother Ritsuko (against his mom's expressed wishes). While they were alone, Ritsuko confided a secret to Hikaru that only she and his mother knew: Ritsuko had been a magical heroine, the Shining Senshi of Hope, Shineon, and had fought against the evil forces known as the Suffering Syndicate, a demonic criminal outfit who sought to cultivate human misery and woe for their own dark purposes. She even had old black-and-white photos of her in her magical girl form! Of course, Hikaru's mom knew about all this as well; she'd grown up hearing stories about Ritsuko's exploits. Unfortunately, Junko never developed the magic necessary to power a Device, and her jealousy turned to bitterness when a monster killed her husband.

While the power of magic had skipped over his mother, she could feel the powerful magical potential Hikaru possessed. Thus, she entrusted him with her Device, the Wishing Star, in the hopes that he would use it to protect humanity like she had. Hikaru was ecstatic at the idea and eagerly promised that he would carry on his grandmother's legacy of heroics.

And then he actually used it and transformed into Shineon. Who was decidedly NOT male. And definitely didn't look like the pictures his granny had had. THAT took some getting used to. His mother doesn't know about this change, either. In Hikaru's opinion, the less she knows the better.

Hikaru is still new-ish to this whole henshin heroine thing. He's nervous about the idea of having a female alter ego (which brings out a whole new set of questions) and is still getting used to balancing his social life and his heroic calling. The fact that the internet is abuzz about Shineon doesn't help matters. Nor does it help that there seems to be a mysterious organization that seems to be following the Suffering Syndicate's modus operandi...

Player Ons and Offs: Ecchi is alright, but let's not go overboard with the sexy stuff. Please avoid stuff like rape, excessive gore and non-con.

Transformation Device: Wishing Star - Wishing Star is a magical artifact containing the distilled essence of the Light of Hope that powers Shineon's abilities. The Device itself is a pendant-sized yellow crystal in the shape of a faceted sphere suspended in a white metal cage. Hikaru typically wears it around his neck under his shirt.

When activated, Wishing Star projects a spherical yellow barrier covered with magical runes and symbols. Hikaru himself is visible as a silhouette inside as he transforms in a decidedly Sailor Moon-esque way. When the change is complete, Shineon bursts through the top of the barrier like a chick erupting from an egg. As Shineon, Wishing Star serves as the gem mounted on her 'crown.' The henshin command is 'WISHING STAR! LET'S SHINE ON!'

Powers and Abilities
Superhuman Strength - Shineon possesses enormous amounts of physical strength. She can easily lift and toss tanks, pulverize concrete with her bare fists and leap several hundred feet in a single bound.

Superhuman Speed - Shineon possesses surprising speed and agility for someone of her size and figure. She can easily out-pace a bullet train, dodge most projectiles with relative ease and even do the stereotypical 'ORAORAORAORA' punch barrage.

Superhuman Stamina - Shineon is both durable and long-lasting in and out of combat. She can run at full speed for hours, hold her breath longer than a professional free diver, and tank hits that would crush vehicles with nothing more than a slight ache.

Inner Light - Shineon is powered by the Light of Hope, a radiant font of positivity and optimism that nothing can extinguish. She possesses an 'aura' of Hope that renders her all but immune to attempts to instill or provoke painful negative emotions like sadness, rage or hate. This aura extends out from her slightly, making her presence reassuring to normal people and making her anathema to creatures that are powered by or rely on such feelings.

Shine, Light of Hope! Esperacchius Impact!
- Shineon's signature attack and the one she uses most often. Esperacchius Impact channels the Light of Hope into Shineon's extremities, causing her gauntlets and greaves to open and reveal a variety of jets and magical arrays. Shineon then rocket-leaps towards her target and delivers a single strike, channeling the Light into an explosion that engulfs the target. The Light doesn't deal physical damage, but instead channels pure, purifying positivity and goodness through the target, making it harmless to mortals but devastating against beings like demons, corruptors, and creatures of hate and suffering.

Equipment
Wishing Star - Hikaru's Transformation Device. Hikaru typically wears it underneath his shirt.

Backpack of Patrolling- Hikaru usually carries a backpack laden with a variety of items he uses both in his daily life and when on patrol for evil. Includes a variety of talismans and occult paraphernalia, a basic medical kit, a durable flashlight, a phone charger and snacks. The backpack is usually only available while in civilian mode.

Phone - Like most people his age, Hikaru has an indispensable cellphone. This near-future, heavy duty model has a variety of apps that Hikaru uses to keep track of things as well as update his blog. It also has a long zoom camera, an extremely long battery life, can survive being submerged in water, and has a case that can resist being run over by a small tank. It also has a Sailor Moon background and a good luck charm chain. This is available in both civilian and transformed modes.

Hope's Armaments: Esperacchius - Shineon's primary weapons. Esperacchius takes the form of gold and white metal gauntlets and greaved boots studded with yellow crystals. These weapons amplify the damage caused by her punches and kicks, making them much more effective. They also contain small but powerful magic-fueled boosters that are used for Shineon's Esperacchius Impact. These are only available while transformed.

Hope's Raiment: Esperanza Cloth - Shineon's primary armor. This ornate golden leotard is made up of the Light of Hope, and serves to help protect Shineon from magical (i.e. non-Sci Fi) sources of damage. The Esperanza Cloth isn't impenetrable, however; sufficiently powerful attacks will weaken its protective abilities, to the point it will start tearing. This is only available while transformed.

Skills
Hand-to-Hand Combat: Hikaru may look like an overweight nerd (and, to be fair, he is an overweight nerd) but he does know how to fight. While he's hardly a professional soldier or black belt, he's done enough basic hand-to-hand training to make him at least competent in a fight.

Henshin Hero History Knowledge: Hikaru is a henshin hero otaku, and has been since a young age. He knows a lot about the various heroes and heroines that have fought the forces of evil and has a surprisingly broad knowledge about various threats. This also means he tends to geek out a lot.

Occult Knowledge
: Seemingly hand-in-hand with his fannish obsession with heroes is his knowledge of occult practices. While he's not exactly a master wizard, he does know enough that he can figure out the weaknesses, traits and possible countermeasures to relevant threats.

Otaku Culture Knowledge: Hikaru is, as mentioned before, an Otaku. A mostly functional and well-adjusted Otaku, but an Otaku nonetheless. As such, he has a knack for dealing with, understanding and interacting with his nerdy, weird-ass subculture. You'd be surprised the sorts of things you can coax out of the online hive-mind of geek ephemera.

Photographer: Hikaru is a talented photographer, and runs his own blog of superhero snapshots. He's good at getting shots with a camera and has enough knowledge to pick out details and inconsistencies in an image (i.e. if a photo's been doctored or modified).

Advantages
Determination: Hikaru is determined. When something's gotten him riled up, there's very little that can keep him from at least trying to get back up. This is especially true when something or someone important to him is on the line.

Magical Potential: Hikaru has a staggering level of innate magical power that he really hasn't tapped into yet. While he's not entirely aware of it, this may explain how Shineon is so strong right out of the gate.

Otaku Connections: Hikaru has a lot of connections in the Otaku community, which gives him a large amount of clout when it comes to mobilizing his nerd brethren.

Intelligent: Hikaru's actually pretty smart. He's not a super-genius by any stretch of the imagination, but he is pretty good at out-of-the-box thinking and information sifting.


Weaknesses
Hero Syndrome: Hikaru is a good, kind person with a lot of empathy. When faced with someone who needs help, he HAS to help them, even if it would be to his detriment. He's the sort of person that would forestall a decisive victory against an intelligent villain to give them a chance to repent.

Otaku: Hikaru is an Otaku, with all the social stigma that comes with it. While he's alright with his 'people,' he tends to stick out amongst normal folk in more formal social settings.

Beacon of Power
: Hikaru's magical potential is a double-edged sword. His raw magical talent tends to attract attention from supernatural creatures, and he easily shows up on relevant sensors.

Out-of-Shape Nerd: Hikaru in his normal form is a short, pudgy nerd. He lacks this weakness while Transformed.

The Glasses Aren't For Show
: Hikaru is nearsighted in Civilian form, so depriving him of his glasses is a quick way to blind him. He lacks this weakness while Transformed.

Well I tried to keep it sensible and failed, here's what I got.

Name: Noma Rugaru
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Stereotype: Giant Alien in (Really Bad) Disguise
Alias: Kaiju Goddess
Player Name: Premier

Physical Description: Noma is bad at disguises okay. Humans don't have long purple hair but there's not a lot she can do about that. She does at least wear some brown contacts and tries to stick to a regular five foot two, slim with a barely visible chest.

Her fashion sense is eclectic and she hasn't quite worked it out yet. It's usually a bit too bright and all in on the frills. Someone will eventually teach her a nice T-Shirt and Jeans combo and she might be able to pass as a normal person for five seconds.

In Kaiju Goddess form ... well the clues in the name really. With eyes that glow a bright pink as the main change beyond her height, which is not really a consistent thing. It's usually just big enough to deal with the threat because going all out is never helpful and she knows it full well.

Personality:
Bubbly Noma just really loves humanity. They're so expressive and so eager to jump into things they have absolutely no talent for. It's adorable! None of that regimented order of her homeworld, they love themselves some chaos and she is IN. TO. IT.

Inquisitive Noma loves nothing more than to see something new. Everything on Earth is interesting to her and she will probably poke it at some point to see what it does. This is behavior that has not always won her friends but it does at least make her interesting to hang around with and keeps her from being bored. Earth doesn't work quite like a TV show but it's still real interesting!

Wierd Noma's an alien. She doesn't exactly have the same human biological needs and often eats things she shouldn't, or completely fails on basic knowledge anyone who actually lived on earth would have. She's more used to a dramatized version of earth and so tends to think she can get away with a lot more than she actually can. Having been raised by serious alien socialists she frequently forgets she has to pay for things and that you can't just barge about wherever you please. She's gotten good at apologies at least.

Background:
Noma's home world had been receiving old television messages from Earth for decades and to Noma the foreign world seemed fascinating. For most people on her world, this was a hopelessly uncool thing to care about. Why would anyone worry about really tiny aliens living on a tiny ball millions of light years away? But Noma loved humanity and it's really dumb beliefs in how love conquers all and the human spirit was as powerful as a gun. Her race was a bit literal when it came to life and didn't have any entertainment beyond science shows. Noma wanted to get all up in that squishy emotional stuff and no amount of societal shaming was going to put her off it!

Luckily her race was also big on people finding their own role in life and if the weird Earthling obsessed girl wanted to shrink herself down and go live among them then .. uh sure? Whatever. Off you go.

She still keeps in touch with her family at home through her quantum phone, all of whom have no idea what the half the stuff she talks about even means. They also made sure to inform Earth's authorities she's there because unlike Noma, they're not irresponsible. Earth's authorities really don't know what to do with her yet, they're not used to Aliens just turning up and then being really enthusiastic about everything.

Player Ons and Offs: Vanilla all the wayyyyy. Bisexual and minor kink stuff is fine, just good ol' wholesome romance novel stuff.

Transformation Device:
A pink gem she keeps inlaid on a fingerless glove on her right hand that helps her warp space to change her size to something sane for Earth. It's currently set her internal body size to revert to a humans when not in use. It only works for someone of her unique alien physiology, whatever the heck that even is. She was never very good at biology and spacial warping.

Powers and Abilities
She's able to get really (really) big.
She's really strong.
She's really tough.

Yeah that's about it.

Equipment
Quantum Phone: For phoning home mainly, though it does work as a regular phone. It doesn't ever need charging either, which is just great.
Spaceship: It's parked behind the moon and she really doesn't ever need it for anything anyway. But hey it's there and the earthlings who know about it aren't super thrilled at it, so they'd rather it stayed there.
Smart Clothes: They adjust size to fit her and come in a variety of shapes! This is useful, or she'd have a horrendous clothing budget and also be in jail forever for Indecency.
Scrapbook: This isn't alien at all. She just likes scrapbooking. Anyone reading it would work out her secret identity almost immediately because she's not exactly been subtle when taking photos. She's also terrible at taking photos.

Skills
Alien Science: Almost completely useless for practical Earth Science but she can babble on about theoretical stuff almost no one will understand that's just basic knowledge back home.
Human Pop Culture: SHE KNOWS IT ALL.


Advantages
Dense: Literally. All that mass goes somewhere. She's a pretty darn solid girl.
Diplomatic Immunity: Being an alien does mean the government is a bit more lenient with you. If only because no one wants to annoy the space aliens, they got enough problems.
Rich as hell: One coin from back home has about the same mineral wealth (And size) as the entire Earth, so she's not exactly hurting for cash. She has promised her mom to not completely destroy earths economy though. It's impolite.
Terrifying Biology: She doesn't need air, she won't get sick and she doesn't have any discernible internal organs. It's all spongy strings and a burning fusion heart in there, don't think about it too much.

Weaknesses
Alien Biology: Some things will affect her in ways that they just don't for normal humans. Peanuts give her hiccups and she's no idea why. If she does get ill somehow there ain't gonna be a doctor on earth who has any clue where to start.
Being Huge: It's actually not that practical for most problems? Like being indoors. Or Underground. Or doing anything that requires fine manipulation. Or when you don't want to smash things. Really the list of problems it does fix are quite short.
Gullible: You can probably convince Noma anything is true if you say it bold faced enough. Her reference point for Earth is TV, not actual reality.
Terrible at Disguises: If the existence of aliens are open knowledge then most people work out she is one after about a minute. She's really not very good at pretending to be a human. Her human name is literally "Normal Girl"
Trivia Fiend: She just loves to show how much she knows about humans and it's so very easy to abuse this if you want to distract her.

For simplicity's sake (maybe), yes, Japan would be the venue of the setting. As for more info on BADGE I have yet to flesh them out aside from what you have in the setting. I'll see if I can add more up within the day (and maybe even put up an information thread to dump all the information in about the game's world).

The intent is for players to have one hero and one villain each. This (theoretically) lightens my load on handling a lot since the villain side can go "You! (player's villain character), go to Earth and stir up trouble! Maybe by taking their supply of ice cream or something!" and leave it to the assigned villain how to do it (with some discussion ahead of time).

I think she can control her size, but in keeping with her race only if she keeps a cool head. Since absolutely nothing I've said about her so far suggest she can do that, she's probably going to bounce around a bit at the GM's wishes. If she wants to really use the power to her full extent she's got to focus and have determination! Which seems in keeping with the genre and is probably her character arc, but I wouldn't bet on it happening anytime soon.

Question: is our villain character allowed to be multiple characters ala the lieutenants in PreCure or thw baddies from Sailor Moon? Also, would you prefer our villains be related to our heroes, or can we make characters to go against other players.

As a side note Premier, maybe instead of Noma randomly shifting her entire body's size, maybe her limbs shift randomly out of proportion? Maybe that's also her finisher? Also, maybe she can alter her density as well as her size?

It’s not entirely random, more the sort of “Train hard. Believe in yourself” power that gets stronger and easier to control the more effort she puts in. As an excitable nerd this will be a trouble and allow the GM to have some fun with it. Heck if someone can find a way to actually embarrass  her she might end up smaller than a human!

Also want to stick with it just being size changing so it’s similar to something like Onideka or the like. Density control and limb changing would make it way more utility and part of the fun is its awkward one trick nature! Still being dense all the time is useful! ( And will be funny if we have a reason to go swimming because she will sink like a rock)

Special moves I think could come out of her learning martial arts if that ever comes up. Or she just does really goofy names for regular big kicks and punches .

I think I might add in her weird alien biology as a bit of a bonus though. If only so she doesn’t end up killing herself because she doesn’t know basic things like don’t punch electricity lines

Physical Description: Standing at 5’4” the untransformed has purple hair that goes down to [length] and perfectly average curves and breasts with a cute face, nothing that would truly make her stand out of the crowd as anything other than a passably cute girl. However, her transformed state is another story all together. White scales grow along her thighs, encircle her hips and for arms as well as frame her face. A pair of match white dragon horns grow out of the side of her head along with a long white tail that whips behind ready to swipe or grab hold at just about anything.

Personality: Optimistic, Energetic,  hoarder
Rina is the eternal optimist one who is always able to see the bright side of things even in the worst situations or when its entirely inappropriate. She’s also an endless ball of energy running from one thing to the next to help even if it’s unwanted or if she would get in the way. If she’s not doing something she gets bored quickly and will go on to find something to do no matter how crazy it is just so she can not be bored.

As lively and optimistic as she is she does have one rather glaring issue. She loves shiny things even more than most people. She hoards all the shiny or precious things she can get ahold of and will do almost anything to get them. it doesn’t matter when it is either or if it might get people in trouble if she can get it she’ll take it one way or another.

Background: Rina was a normal girl or at least fairly normal. Sure, she’d had an interest in shiny things and helping people that was a bit excessive but mostly normal. That was until she discovered that she had dragon blood in her and that she was to become a magical girl after meeting a talking lizard shortly after high school. To say that it was surprising would be an understatement. Still she tried to do her new duty but admittedly like with most things she got a little over enthusiastic sometimes and tended to go a bit  too far like defeating the monster and destroying the street at the same time. Which was how she got dragged into BADGE.

After one such incident of blowing up a building, which was not her fault,  she was dragged into BADGE by one of the magical girls there as she was doing just as much harm as good and that she needed more formal training and discipline to avoid similar incidents in the future. To assist with her training she was giving a special charm bracelet that would transform her whenever she caused too much damage after a fight. Now one of the newest members of BADGE and stuck somewhere between trainee and full fledged member she does her best to assist in defending the world.

Player Ons and Offs: Rina is bisexual with a lean towards other girls and I’m willing to try most things at least once with more specific ons listed under my role play preferences and my ONs and OFFs

Transformation Device: Dragon Egg Charm. A simple necklace that she wears with a large white stone with  blue stripes meant to signify her heritage and contain her powers as a magical girl. When transforming the egg hatches and allows her to transform into a magical girl. It was given to her by Yssyr Lady of the Skies to awaken her dragon heritage.

Powers and Abilities
•   Magic dragon blast – Her basic attack which are bright blue shots of magical energy that explode on contact. A majority of her techniques are based upon this one.
•   Flight:  As the master of [name] and as a magical girl  Rina has the ability to fly as long as she is transformed.
•   Scale of the Dragon: A magical shield she can create out of her magic to protect herself
•   Dragon blast variants – More advanced skills based on her dimple dragon blasts intouding scatter blasts, rapid firing, and other such changes.
•   Dragon buster and other barrage spells – Her most powerful Dragon Buster is massive barrage of energy that takes a short time to charge and leaves her vulnerable and has a tendency to get her in trouble with the cleanup crews and the city after.

Equipment
•   Wyrm Heart – The name of her magical girl staff  a long black staff with a white wing like motif on the end. (see picture)
•   Cursed bracelet: What looks like a simple charm bracelet on her wrist is actually a symbol of the disciplinarian curse meant to help her learn to control her power.

Advantages
•   Stamina- She’s like the energizer bunny. She can go on and on and on.
•   Large Magic capacity: She takes her magic from a dragon comes with the package deal.
•   Inventive – Having to learn the basics of magic mostly on her own she’s developed the ability to think outside the box in regards to magic and come up with solutions that might otherwise be disregarded as silly.
•   Attack Variety- One of her main advantages is her ability to turn her ability to blow things up and then be able to use it to blow things up in different ways.
Weaknesses
•   Hoarder of shiny things- Rina loves shiny things and precious things more than she probably should and is easily distracted or appeased with such objects. Strangely enough this also extends to small soft fluffy things such as stuffed animals.
•   Lack of magic control – She has a lot of magic unfortunately she also lacks the ability to control said magic and frequently ends up causing trouble le because of it.
•   Cursed to transform into dog girl whenever she causes too much damage to the local area. Usually ranging from an hour or two to a full day depending on the severity of the damage but can be released from her punishment by any senior member of BADGE in an emergency.
