The Rules

  • First and foremost, follow Elliquiy's rules. 'Nuff said there.
  • The GM is Lyron, and the co-GM is Kye. For the sake of simplicity, they will be collectively referred to as the GMs. What they say goes.
  • We are LGBTLMNOP-friendly. Cross-gender writing is perfectly fine, too.
  • This will be a sandbox game set at a fictional university so that we can more easily bend it to fit our interests. The GM(s) may occasionally create events to bring characters together or to throw in twists, but the story will largely rest in the players' hands.
  • This group favors character development and plot, of more than the romantic/sexual persuasion. If you want only a dating simulator/porno, great, but search for that elsewhere.
  • The only drama we desire is of the IC variety. Be respectful to everyone OOC. This also means no criticizing another player's character or writing style. Anyone who is seen showing their ass will kindly be given the boot to it, right out the virtual door.
  • Let's be inclusive, yeah? This means:

    • Be open to writing with other players, even if they are new to you. OOC cliques and "pairings" create too much isolation, which isn't conducive to a group environment.
    • Don't target only characters who are sexually/romantically compatible with yours. The reason for this has already been explained.
    • Especially do not tell someone else who they can or can't write with. That goes against Elliquiy's possessiveness rule.
  • This group will be placed in the non-con board so that players can have more freedom, if they so choose to exercise it. Anyone is welcome to join this game, regardless of their personal limits. Non-con or not, a player must still consent, and their O/Os must be respected.
  • Because of the previous, players must have O/Os set up if they wish to join.
  • No bestiality or incest or any kink that would be more appropriate for the Extreme boards.
  • In terms of non-sexual content, this group will allow for heavier themes, such as drug abuse and dating violence. Again, nothing should be forced on a player (and their character) without their consent. The group will also use post headers, so that readers can be warned about certain content they might desire to skip.
  • If an idea might substantially affect the game (e.g., something that could generate headlines for the university), please contact the GM(s) first. The GM(s) can reserve the right to decline an idea, but in most cases, the communication is simply to give them a chance to prepare and to ensure nothing conflicts.
  • Poking for posts is one of the leading causes of muse fatalities. Don't do it! Protect the fragile species! The GM(s) will check in with players if they haven't been active in the OOC or IC for two weeks, and if their A/As do not suggest why. If a player drops out with no hint of a return, or if they fail to respond to the PM in a week, while still being active elsewhere, the GM(s) reserve the right to do as they see fit to the player's character(s). This includes allowing someone to take over said character, with tweaks if they desire (with proper credit to the original writer). If a player has become inactive on E as a whole, and a week has passed since the PM was sent, their character(s) will be marked as inactive to be fair to them.
  • At least one post a week is preferred, but it's not a hard rule, because it's understandable that real life and cranky muses can interfere. What primarily matters is that players continue to show presence, whether in the IC or OOC, and that they're communicative. If you're going to be away for an extended period and are able to do so, please either say something in the OOC or PM a GM. It's the courteous thing to do.
  • No complaining/pestering if someone posts in another scene before yours. It's understandable that waiting can be a living hell when the muse is on fire, but really, patience is a virtue. The other player will get to your scene when they're ready. On the flip side, if you're struggling with a scene, please be communicative about it, because there is such a thing as making someone wait too long without word. Obviously, "too long" might vary from person to person, but use good judgment, or err on the side of courteousness.
  • Posts should be long enough to have depth: to provide insight into the character and details of the surroundings, to advance the scene, etc. In most cases, this will probably mean that responses will be at least 2 paragraphs long, with the occasional one-paragraph when strictly necessary. Please write in third person.
  • There will be an OOC. Let's make it a lighthearted place, so leave politics, negativity, and overly sexual/flirtatious talk to the respective boards/threads on E.
  • Understand that IC and OOC are two distinct, separate realms, meaning:

    • Don't get upset over something that happens IC. Players are not their characters, meaning their views aren't necessarily the same, and remember that, just like real people, characters don't always do what you hope they will.
    • Don't inject OOC knowledge into the IC.
  • No controlling another player's character, or auto-hitting them, at least not without asking for that player's permission. Don't tell another player how to write their character.
  • No X-rated images, please. This goes for both IC and OOC.

The Setting

Note: Beyond the second paragraph below, the text contains descriptions of brutality and suicide. A summary can be provided upon request.

Baymont is a public university in San Mateo, California. Founded in 1917, the campus sits a couple miles inland from the western shoreline of San Francisco Bay. It offers many majors, ranging from the arts and humanities to business and STEM. The school colors are navy and dark goldenrod, and its mascot is Zeus the Lion. With an undergraduate body of approximately 18,000, there's almost always something happening, whether it be a sports game or a party or another event.

Brochures showcase images of the Beaux Arts-styled buildings and of diverse, smiling faces, including a student with a "Free Hugs" T-shirt to reflect a friendly atmosphere. True or not, the 2017 academic year left a stain on the university's image.

That autumn witnessed a string of Greek life suspensions across the nation after hazing garnered bad press, Baymont included. On the evening of November 30, 2017, paramedics arrived at the chapter house of Delta Tau Chi to find the bruised and lifeless body of Max Miller. He and other pledges participated in a hazing ritual called "Crossing Over". It happened in the basement. The pledges stood against the back wall of the spacious, dimly lit room while the brothers guarded the stairs. One at a time, each pledge would try to reach them while enduring tackles, punches, and kicks. It would prove that they deserved a spot within the fraternity.

Two other pledges went before the victim. The first kept on his feet and broke through the brothers' defenses. The second was a friend of Max. "One of them tackled me," he told a reporter when recounting his experience. "I was punched and kicked from everywhere. They picked me up and dropped me to the floor." After a few minutes, he finally grasped the banister, sore and panting. "I blacked out right after." But he survived the night.

"Not Max. They had something against him." Max still insisted on seeing the initiation through, determined to gain the respect of the upperclassmen in that basement. "I wish he listened." Max's friend didn't see the beginning. Another pledge described how the brothers shoved him down and pummeled him, then dragged him by his feet back to the starting point. "I guess I came to around that time. It was like he hadn't started." Once again Max tried to push through the brothers, only to be tripped. "They swarmed him like a pack of animals." In the dim light, he could make out one of the men stomping him. "It must have lasted five minutes." For a while, none of the brothers listened when Max's friend tried to speak up, until one of them finally broke through the bodies to pull Max toward the stairs so that the abuse could end. With the battered freshman lying on the floor and trying to catch his breath, the actives commanded another to take their turn.

Until Max panicked, saying he couldn't breathe. He passed out. One of the brothers performed CPR, and after the victim vomited blood, another phoned for 911. They carried him to the main floor and awaited help, but the ambulance arrived too late. An autopsy would later reveal the internal bleeding that led to his death.

Later, several men would be found guilty, but the school immediately answered the tragedy with the suspension of all Greek activities. They began their own investigations into the death and, as a whole, into the issues that existed within the fraternity and sorority chapters. In late February, the university announced that it would move forward with a ban. "Reckless and undesirable cultures" filled with hazing, drug and alcohol abuse, and sexual assault was about as detailed as the reports got, but some could point to a few notable events that likely led Baymont to its decision:

  • Back in November of 2003, an eighteen-year-old girl lost her life while pledging a sorority and was found by a Dr. Trevor Baine. Alcohol was determined to be the cause. Some might have noticed the lack of media surrounding her death at the time of its occurrence, yet it was something that seemed to be renewed within the public's mind after the recent tragedy dragged it into the spotlight.
  • A pledge reported a hazing incident in February 2014 in which pledges were forced to stand naked in front of the sisters, who criticized their bodies and circled all parts that jiggled. The university had decided to suspend the sorority until the 2017-18 academic year.
  • In February 2017, a group of men disrupted a GSA-hosted drag show by belittling one of the performers. Later, after being asked to leave, they tailed an individual who left the show early, shouting threats and slurs. All four men were promptly expelled. Two of them were identified as being brothers of a fraternity on campus.

Two weeks after the incident, an anonymous editorial was published in the student newspaper, allegedly written by a person of color who suggested that the fraternity as a whole possessed less-than-stellar views of minorities. The article described a personal experience in which they and a friend had racial epithets shouted at them while walking past the house, and suggested that the chapter actively avoided offering bids to minority students.

Later, the newspaper published an editorial by one of the fraternity's actives, who claimed that the two involved brothers were a vocal minority. The school had announced an investigation but the chapter remained.
  • Shortly after Greek life was suspended and the school announced that they would be performing investigations, a number of rape allegations surfaced.
Some fully supported the school's decision, others thought Baymont acted too harshly, that surely there had to be a better way to move forward, that not every chapter could have been as awful as the ones that deserved the public's ire. It certainly caused an uproar among the brotherhoods and sisterhoods, yet the administration stood firm through the protests. They altered their marketing to use their lack of Greek life as a new selling point. Word has it that a group has went underground, but the university hasn't verified these rumors.

Max's death was a horrible tragedy that shook the school, but it wasn't the only. Next came Abby Williams, the sophomore who committed suicide.

In the early morning of Wednesday, April 25, 2018, another student found Abby in one of the shower rooms in the sports hall, slumped in a corner on the floor, the scalpel still with her and the tiles stained in her blood. The ambulance and campus police had been called, and people had been interviewed, especially those whom the girl was in contact with. As a routine, the girl was examined, to check for additional wounds or signs of possible sexual and/or physical abuse, anything that might hint at the why, but nothing was found. The autopsy revealed that she inflicted the lethal cuts herself, and her having access to a scalpel fit her major, so the authorities declared her death a suicide.

With such a huge campus, there are likely as many opinions as there are students. Some of the general population was heartbroken over the tragedy while others remained ambivalent. The cynics believed that the Greek life somehow played a part. Those with a dark sense of humor suggested that the cost of tuition drove her to the brink, or the  hell of finals week. Even among those that knew the girl, the perceptions were split; some speculated that it came out of the blue, that there never had been any sign to suggest that Abby might have been suicidal, and yet others claimed that she had been withdrawn and depressed in the days and weeks prior to the event.

The Athletics

A lot of the traditional sports are offered at Baymont. Check out the sports roster for fellow teammates!

The Housing

All of Baymont's housing resides along the southern fringes of the campus. The typical college residences lie in the southeastern corner and are collectively nicknamed the Lions' Den. The standard dorms consist of Zeus and Apollo, and although the two Halls are physically similar, their cultures vary. Zeus Hall's quiet hours are more lenient, except during finals, and is more likely to have a party every Friday evening that will spill out onto the lawn during good weather. At midnight every day of finals, you can find some of its residents screaming into the night air, a tradition that started about a decade ago when a student decided to destress. A lot of its residents enjoy a little competition, and as such, there are a couple challenge ladders that they can participate in: one for Foosball doubles, one for Foosball singles, and another for ping-pong, after a table was donated by residence faculty a couple years back.

Apollo Hall, on the other hand, enforces quiet hours every night starting at 9pm, except on Fridays and Saturdays. One can still find the occasional groups of students who may sit in the lounge until the wee hours of the morning, as long as they maintain a reasonable volume level. Sometimes, there has been a contest of sorts to see who will be the last to leave their seat...only for people to find some poor souls passed out on the couch the next morning. Their lounge is probably the most homey between the two Halls, and their community is arguably the most close-knit, with many residents opting to leave their doors open while they're in. Perhaps true to the name, they have an artist's corner to showcase residents' work, as well as the occasional get-together for people to share poems and songs. There's usually a radio playing between 4pm and 7pm every weekday, with someone different in charge of the playlist every evening.

The aforementioned radio also happened to be stolen six years ago by Zeus Hall, who paid the price when Apollo ambushed them with water balloons the next Friday. Since then, they have been at war, with both Halls secretly planning two days, one in the fall and one in the spring, when they attack their rivals with water balloons. Other pranks have surfaced in the past, and a few events have started to form where the two Halls will compete with one another.

For those who aren't keen on communal bathrooms, or those who want more roommates, there is King Suites, standing proudly among the residence halls within the Lions' Den. For more information on any of these residences, visit this thread.

Beside the Lions' Den sits the now-defunct fraternity row. Some might even say its spooky with its lifelessness. On the other side of it lies Sunset Apartments, more college-owned housing that comes with the added benefit of a kitchenette. For more information on the apartments, visit this thread.

There are also, of course, off-campus options, if one can handle the cost of living in the Bay Area.

Special thanks to Nico and November Bleeds for being a huge help while this game was being set up!

These guys are still a bit of a work in progress, but...

characters

Adam Bandera

Nicknames:
Age: 33
Birthday: July 26
Sex: "Cis-male"
Sexual Orientation: "Sorry fellas, this guy is interested in the fairer sex."
Occupation: Resident Director for Zeus Hall
Residence: In a studio on the second floor above Zeus Hall's lobby. Outside his door, one can find a list of hotlines, several pamphlets covering a range of topics, and a "Safe Space" notice.

Face Claim: JR Ramirez
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 6'1"
Distinguishing Marks:

Personality:

  • Loyal
  • Courageous
  • Passionate
  • Protective
  • Disorganized
  • Hotheaded, particularly on a bad day or when a button is pushed
  • Headstrong, especially if someone is trying to tell him something he doesn't 100% agree with
  • Shortsighted, at least in his personal life
  • Assertive
  • Drifts between cynicism and hope, depending on the day's mood or whom he's talking to
  • Distrusting. It's something he struggles with
  • While Adam tries to treat people with empathy and understanding, sometimes his emotions and past experiences will cloud his judgment

Bio: If you ask Adam, his life's lesson is that people are shit.

The first time he shoulda learned this lesson? High school. Growing up, he had a best friend, Brad, who he loved like a brother. It didn't matter that he came out in their junior year--not to Adam, but to some of the other kids, maybe. The guy's cojones were too big for the times. Like the loyal diehard he was, Adam had his back through it all. It wasn't without consequence. Some bastards from their school jumped him one night. It landed him in a coma for some time. Lo and behold, when he came to, Brad didn't want to have anything to do with him anymore, spewing some BS that he felt guilty for what had happened and didn't want Adam around anymore. He tried to protest, but a person could only fight something for so long before it became clear that it was a lost cause.

But that wasn't all. Oh no. Apparently the man who helped raise him wasn't his biological father. That one caught wind of the attack, and for some reason saw it fit to enter Adam's life. His mother tried to warn him to stay away. Being the stubborn fool that he was, he didn't listen. The pendejo probably would have drained him of every dollar he had to fuel his alcohol addiction. He cut the ties as soon as he realized he was better off with the man who raised him.

It mighta darkened his world view a bit, but it apparently took a lot more than that to kick the hope out of him. Adam busted his rump through undergrad and grad school to specialize in educational counseling. At twenty-eight, he even scored a job at his old high school with some notion that he'd return as an adult and make a difference for the new generations of students. It lasted a couple years, after he dated a woman for almost the same length of time and apparently slept with other men during half of it. There were too many memories, anyway, that left him feeling emotions he wasn't sure he wanted to bask in.

That led him to the Resident Director position at Baymont University. A new city was just what the doctor prescribed, and he has stayed there ever since.

  • Injustice
  • Manipulative people
  • Reality TV
  • Fake attitudes
  • Absolute quiet
  • Clowns
  • Chick flicks
  • Sitting at a desk for long periods

Desired Plots: Open to anything! Including helping someone with their own arcs. Some ideas include a slow or whirlwind romance, and helping a student in their time of need, or failing to.

Additional Details: When he started at the university, he was quickly known as "That Karaoke Guy", between his massive collection of songs that could rival a bar's and a YouTube video someone found of him from 2011. Let's just say he really enjoyed "Moves Like Jagger" when it was released. At least his dance moves were good. He has a karaoke machine that he sometimes lets the residents use.

Last year's suicide bothered him. Although he already made an effort to get to know all the students in his hall, it put an extra fire in him that some might suggest is a bit overbearing.

William Scott

Nicknames: Will. Also responds to "Asshole" and "Dickhead". "Willy" makes him grimace. :P
Age: 21
Birthday: August 10
Sex: "Fuck you."
Sexual Orientation: "Fuck you." (Picture, if you will, this being the answer to most questions.)
Year: Freshman
Major: He thought he'd have it figured out by now. Apparently not.
Residence: Apollo Hall. "Fuck me." 208 (anyone feel free to be his roommate!)

Face Claim: Austin Sanderson
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Green
Height: 6'1"
Distinguishing Marks: His head is always buzzed and his jaw is typically stubbled.

Personality:

  • Self-sufficient, at least when his head is screwed on right
  • Easygoing
  • Athletic
  • Resistant to peer pressure
  • Patient when waiting, sometimes less so when dealing with people, depending on the circumstances
  • Pessimistic
  • Aloof - some days he can be sociable, but he prefers to keep relationships shallow
  • Outspoken
  • Insecure, despite the outward confidence
  • Procrastinating
  • Insulting
  • Selfish

Bio: Will learned exactly what kind of person he was after he shot his own brother.

The police called it a tragedy. A young boy who was approaching his seventh birthday was rummaging through his parents' bedroom for presents when he discovered his dad's gun in a box at the bottom of the closet. The gun went off an undetermined number of minutes later and the bullet struck four-year-old Thomas. The parents immediately phoned 911. An ambulance transported the child to the nearest hospital, where he passed away from his injury.

The remaining family was left intact to grieve. Their home became haunted by the memories of laughter and warmth. His mother tried while she pushed through the grief. She and the school counselor assured Will that it was an accident, but it didn't end the guilt. Only time had been able to dull it, and gradually, the outbursts at school grew infrequent and he was able to move on well enough. His football coach in middle school became like a father to him while his biological one continued to be a ghost whenever they weren't in public. The man pushed him athletically and gave him a listening ear, in and out of school.

It worked for a while. Eighth grade, he came home to find his dad stinking like a brewery. Old wounds reopened, and the words the man had withheld all those years finally spilled. They fought, and when his mom discovered what happened, it was the final straw for their barely functional marriage. His mom took Will from his Arizona hometown to live on their own, a new place where he would repeat the eighth grade, and the divorce went through half a year later.

Will didn't regain much of a support network after that. He supposed he didn't want to. He treated people like shit and half-tried in sports, where he was deemed talented by his new coaches but lacked the drive and struggled to be a good team player, at least until senior year. It was like he had awakened. Oh, he was still an asshole by most people's standards, but he tried, finally making the cut for varsity (although later tanking in football when he tried to pick a fight with someone on the opposing team) and improving his grades. It had occurred to him that he could leave this place and maybe become someone new. Maybe college. That involved a course correct, so he did what he needed to meet those goals.

He scored a couple of acceptance letters, but turned those down in favor of entering the army. It was a stupid decision, because he lasted maybe one week at boot camp. So he reverted back to his original plan of pursuing a higher level of education. Honestly, he didn't expect Baymont to accept him again, but he didn't turn down an opportunity to begin anew.

Desired Plots: Will is going to put forth some effort to be a better person in this new chapter of his life and try to finally lay the past to rest, but it's questionable if he will succeed. It could be fun to have a past connection from high school, like a victim to his bullying or an enemy, and explore how their relationship stands after a year apart. He's certainly open to being antagonistic if anyone needs it! Whether it be a bully, someone to cheat with, or a bad influence. All in all, though, I welcome any ideas and am willing to use him to help out with others' plots.

Additional Details: Will works as a go-go dancer at a gay nightclub.

He has an on-again-off-again relationship with cigarettes. He's currently in the breakup phase.

Liam Leigh Taylor

Nicknames: Dude, Bro, Hot Stuff? All accurate.
Age: Eighteen
Birthday: 04-07-2000
Sex: Female / Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Year: Freshman
Major: Business Admin
Residence: On-Campus Housing (HIT ME UP ROOMIES~)

Face Claim: Rasmus Ledin
Hair Color: Brunette (bleached blond)
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 5’ 6”
Distinguishing Marks: Two long scars along his chest under the pectorals.

Personality: Conscientious, Cooperative, Good-Natured, Perfectionist, Progressive, Airy, Argumentative, Forgetful, Naive

Bio:  Life had been pretty difficult for Liam through the years. They had been hard for a lot of kids in that area who were fighting between poverty and abusive parents, or just the daily happenings of a run down part of town, but it was even harder when he was constantly fighting between people telling him he should be himself while telling him how he should be or act. He struggled over one point specific; he was not as feminine as people wanted him to be, and though his body was obviously the female sex, he was conflicted. He wanted to be lazy with his appearance and like one of the guys; he wanted to be strong and reckless but instead he was taught to be reserved, gentle, and affectionate. His mom had the worst time trying to get him to care about shaving, caring for his brows, or even putting on makeup and dresses without messing all of it up; he never felt pretty, he just felt fake. It was when he was fifteen that he ended up figuring it all out, and by then the damage and influence had been done.

Coming out to his parents had to be one of the scariest things he had done, but not as scary as facing his classmates afterwards. The teachers started referring to him properly but the judgement in the kid's eyes when suddenly he was receiving some kind of 'special' or 'weird' treatment put him under a microscope. He went right to a gender therapist and found coping methods through them until finally at sixteen his parents agreed to let him go through the transition. He started hormones and though now people seem more progressive, he still had conflicts being in such a rural area as he went through his school years. It was rough but the faculty and staff actually handled it pretty well. There were tiffs, there was some hair pulling shade being thrown, but he made it through pretty well until the last year
He was assaulted by one of the other students in the boy’s restroom. He ended up clamming up; he didn't know who to tell or how, but the longer he waited the more he felt like saying anything would just be brushed off as nothing big. In the end he ended up graduating with the assault unrecorded. His parents had been trying to get him to start at the nearby community college but he vehemently refused; everyone that went to his high school would go to that school. He needed a fresh start and the only way he was getting that was by moving. He applied to a number of colleges and actually recieved a lot of acceptance letters. He decided to pick the best one from the list that wanted him; Baymont University. Hey, it’s expensive, but how he sees it is the debt dies when he dies!

He was accepted for a lot of grants, as well as a few scholarships which helped out covering a great deal of the cost. The rest he had to pick up with loans, and his mom and dad somehow still found themselves able to send him bits of spending money despite him telling them not to. He found a part time job at the Bitter Bean coffee shop that pays decently; making coffee all day wasn't exactly his dream, but it helped support some of the bills. At least he'd made it here and he is as stable as he could hope to be despite still fighting his personal demons.

Definitely interested in this. I'll take a look at getting a character sheet together soon.

Blythe

To brainstorm a bit (is that okay in here, Haru?), I'm interested primarily in making a faculty character. But what I'd love most is to make a faculty character who teaches something other player's characters are interested in or are taking as a class, in order to have a great source of character connections. Are there any subjects people would be hype about having a faculty member for?

Amaris

I'm in too as you already know. I should have a character by the end of the weekend.

Blythe, my character Avery will be taking Liberal Arts classes, focusing specifically on social work. I'd be happy to do some plotting with you :) She's also minoring in Journalism if that helps.

That was fast. XD Looks great! We could probably work out some kinda interesting relationship between Liam and Will, if you're interested. :-)

All the good stuff when it's convention and burlesque season for me! D:

Aw, bad timing, huh? ^^ The plan is that this group will always be accepting, so if now doesn't work out so well, you'd be welcome to join in when it's more suitable for you. :-)

Definitely interested in this. I'll take a look at getting a character sheet together soon.

Look forward to it! :D

Perfectly fine to brainstorm! I'm not yet certain what Will's major is gonna be, but it looks like we have at least three freshmen so far, so teaching at least one general education course could possibly do well.

I already had the character half made from an old RP. xD I hadn't used him in awhile~ You'll find I use a lot of old characters because I made them for an RP that never hit off, or something like that.

I would like Liam and Will plots!! They could be roomies if you want. They would be such a dramatically different duo.

Dr. Trevor Baine

Trevor Baine

Nicknames: "Trev" or "Doc"
Age: 45
Birthday: July 1st
Sex: Cismale
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Occupation: Faculty, Head of the Biology Department
Residence: Private three-bedroom home in San Mateo. As a faculty member, Dr. Baine does not live on campus. However, he lives within a few streets of it; hypothetically a person could walk to his house if they needed to in a pinch.

Face Claim: Idris Elba
Hair Color: Black with some gray
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 6'2"
Distinguishing Marks: His left hand has burn scars on it; this hand is typically kept in a black glove.

Personality: Sophisticated | Social | Slightly elitist | Picky | Intelligent | Argumentative | Stubborn | Petty grudge holder

Bio:

Dr. Baine has a Bachelor's in Biology, a Master's in Marine Science, and a PhD in Marine Biology.

Born originally in Maine, Trevor moved to California when he was twenty to go to college and marry his sweetheart, Tyesha, whom he met by chance when her family vacationed in Maine. He ended up being with for the next two decades. He went to Baymont & got his B.A. there along with his wife before they decided to attend another university for their Masters degrees. So he's an alumni. He did a little touring of Europe when getting his Master's degree; he did a foreign exchange twice. He's visited France and Germany. His favorite of the two was Germany. He speaks French and German fluently along with his native English, which he had time to study when he was abroad. Tyesha came with him during this time. He got a bad burn on his left hand when the apartment he stayed in during his exchange in France burned down as a result of arson, but he and Tyesha got out otherwise unharmed. He still sports the scars on that hand.

Once he got his Master's, he was ready to teach, and Baymont hired him, happy to have him on their faculty. This allowed him to pay to study and work on getting his PhD. He's been teaching at Baymont for the past fifteen years in total, since he started teaching as soon as he got his Master's. He got his doctorate when he was thirty-five, which resulted in a nice pay bump for him.

Tragedy struck him, sadly. Hiis wife died from an illness five years ago--Trevor never specified which specific illness to anyone at Baymont, citing a preference for privacy. He has never entirely gotten over this, as they had been married twenty years. Tyesha Baines was his world. He threw himself into his work after that, because teaching is genuinely fulfilling for him. They never had children of their own. He did not show his grief publicly. He did not miss a single day of work. Some might have thought that made him cold, but in truth, Baymont kept him sane and functioning. He loves the University as much as his wife once did.

He was one of the faculty who wholeheartedly supported the wholesale ban on sororities/fraternities, and he doesn't regret it one bit. Death affects him profoundly, and the loss of a student hurt him something fierce as an educator. That being said, he is known to be one of the educators who is most likely to go to bat for a student if they need help with their studies; he's usually considered a 'good get' if a freshman gets him as a student adviser for their first semester...assuming his personality meshes with the students he advises, of course. He generally gives it his all in that role.

Likes:

  • Desserts. Trevor is addicted to sweet snacks of any kind. Seriously. Bribe him with cake.
  • Reading. He can spend long hours completely ensnared in a good book.
  • Birds. He's an avid bird-watcher.
  • Don't even get him started on sharks. He's obsessed with sharks.
  • Indie music. He's drawn to strange and unusual sounding music.
  • Drinking. Trevor is a wine connoisseur. He enjoys wine tastings or sampling new vintages. But he's also a bit fond of a drop of whiskey now and then.
  • Hitting the gym. Physical fitness is important to him. Mostly he likes running. He's also pretty fond of track & field.
  • Karaoke. Oh yes. You read that right. He will sing. Badly. And he will love doing that.
  • Cooking. Trevor's not afraid to showcase his skills in the kitchen.
  • Socializing. He just loves idle chit chat!
  • Star-gazing. Something about the sky appeals to him. Not quite as much as the sea, but it still appeals.

Dislikes:

  • Most sports, save for track & field. He's just not a fan.
  • Videogames. Just...no. He is long past the time when he would be interested in such things.
  • Bees. No. Don't even joke about bees with him. He's very allergic and has an EpiPen in case of stings.
  • Romantic movies. Trevor does not have time for that cliche nonsense.
  • Rude people. Trevor can get quite...cold...towards such people.
  • Soda. Trevor prefers tea, thank you very much.
  • Japanese anime & manga. Trevor has absolutely no time or inclination to even acknowledge these mediums exist.
  • Sororities & fraternities or anything resembling those mentalities. He agreed with & supported the Baymont Ban on them.

Desired Plots:
- Past connections. Dr. Baine has lived in San Mateo several years and taught at Baymont for many years on top of that. Faculty connections or students who have been at Baymont for a bit could be familiar with him or had classes with him once.
- Favorite students! Dr. Baine will teach intro biology classes as well as higher up biology courses, and promising students are students are students he goes out of his way to tutor or even find scholarships for.
- THE SHIT LIST. Dr. Baine is...picky. Stubborn. One he's crossed, he holds grudges for forever and a day. Interested in being on the wrong side of a senior faculty member who has the power to be a royal pain in your character's ass? Dr. Baine is your man!

Additional Details:
- Drives a 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid. He is still making payments on it.
- Still wears his old wedding ring, though he is a widower now.

Shonni Dunn

Nicknames: Shon
Age:19
Birthday: 07-18
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation:Bisexual
Year: Sophmore
Major: Communication
Residence: On campus

Face Claim:Diamond White
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Dark brown
Height: 5’6
Distinguishing Marks: Really knock kneed

Personality: This girl does not like to take no for an answer. Not even at the age of 4 when she called the police on her babysitter for not feeding her what she wanted. When in good company she likes to be the center of attention, but some days she likes to be by herself to recharge for the next grand reveal. She’s very generous and is outspoken on modern on social issues. She’s the black knight who charges first into battle, sometimes without getting all the facts, which can get her into trouble.

Bio:

Shonni was born overseas to two parents in the military. She grew up in Japan and is still into japanese culture, especially the animation. However she grew up traveling to places like Ghana and South Africa where she got her first taste of  societal issues and human rights violations. That sparked her interest in humanitarianism. She got tired of all the things she saw on the news that were only half truth. Shonni is heavy into social media. She uses her platform to open express her opinions about the 'fuckery' that continues to happen. The first time she kissed a girl was in highschool and thus discovered she could bend both ways. When guys would act up she would date girls and when girls would act up she would go back to guys.

She’s volunteered for places that aid in world hunger and human trafficking since she was 14 years old. When she got to college she knew Communications would be her major. She wanted to share her experiences and talk about issues that heavily weigh on her and other people. On the other side she likes volleyball and entered into Baymont University on a partial Volleyball scholarship. The rest of her education of course has been paid for due to her parents time in the Military. Shonni has a older half brother, from her father’s previous marriage. They don’t speak much at all unfortunately.

Despite that she has a good relationship with her parents. Her home was a stable as it could get when moving every few years. Despite the constant change she was able to keep in touch with some of her old friends from time to time. Since Shonni did so well in High school her parents gifted her with a car that she calls ‘Blue’ and refers to it as ‘him’.

Desired Plots: I want her to expose all the shady shit that goes down in Baymont.

Additional Details: She has a car, a midnight blue Mazda RX8.

She’s a pretty good volleyball player. She’s known for having the most expressive energy on the team.  She plays the middle blocker on the team.

During the end of her freshman year she started a podcast called “Baymont Nights”. It’s an advice column that mixes in social issues and rumor reports about people on campus. It’s also where she does a lot of swearing. Right now she has over 3,000 listeners.

The death of Abby Williams is definitely a hot topic for her right now.

Hello!

I'm still definitely interested in this. I'd be looking to play a Mean Girl type, who'd be interested in extorting other students. But currently I'm in the process of collaborating with a friend, who's also showed interest in this (Mayna). I'll post back soon as I figure out more.

Roomies could be fun, 'cause yeah, they could probably clash in some fun ways, yet also maybe find some common ground? Just be prepared for potential horribleness if you agree. xD All based on what you're comfortable with, of course! But Will can be incredibly cruel with the right motivation. Maybe even a possibility for Liam to be outed if you're interested? If you're still up for it, does Apollo Hall work for you? Or Zeus Hall?

If it helps any more, I could see Will taking an introductory astronomy course, or any science, but he's flexible if you'd be interested in a connection with him.

I am really bad at deciding for people. xDDD

I think they'd fit into the 'rowdier' crowds a little more, not because they're frat, but I know personally Liam ends up drifting towards energetic people a lot to try and be a part of the fun. And tbh he probably just wants to be big and hulky like Zeus and legit only picked the dorm because of the name.
