Phew. You gotta hate when your hard drive EATS ITSELF, and you forget to check in on websites you no longer have bookmarks for, huh?

Anyways, lately me and a few friends on another site have been testing out a homebrew system for Fire Emblem, the much vaunted series of fantasy strategy rpgs. I was wondering what sort of interest I could get for a game done in the same style, using the system.

Before I actually link the system, I just want to point out a few little things-

1: The system itself is pretty damn simple to pick up. Nothing but basic math.

2: I don't want to be head GM, so I'd be looking for one. The GM need not be worried about the mechanics, because I have no problem taking care of that until the GM gets comfortable with the system.

3: Sprites. It's just not the same without maps and customized sprites pasted into the threads, if you ask me. I would be eternally grateful if we could get ahold of someone capable of spriting for the battle-y portions of the game.

4: Sexytime. Hey, i'm a big fan of sexytime! i'd just rather it not be the focus of the game. During the in-between chapter parts of the game/at inns/when camped should be where the sexy stays, maybe the occasional NC if a player gets captured? This would all likely be in a separate thread, just for organization's sake.

5: Number of players. The great thing about this is it can support a larger amount of players eventually, and people can always drop in and out of the game.

I'm PROBABLY forgetting various things, but hey, it's just the interest check for now. Any comments, questions, concerns?

Morganna Natsume

looks interesting-

I  love the story in Fire Emblem - Radiant Dawn

I'm paging through the player's handbook now - and they even have the weapon and magic triangles

I think I saw an anime for fire emblem a long time ago.

Revelation

I might be tentatively interested, but was the link posted to the rules? that is, interested as a player.

Latooni Subota

No, I haven't posted the rules yet because I didn't want to throw them around willy-nilly. I sent them to Natsume pre-emptively because she's my friend, and I already know she liked playing Radiant Dawn. I guess I might as well post them here though, huh?

I will thumb through the rules, but unless I am much mistaken you can probably about color my interested.

And indeed having read through the pdf file I must most certainly say that you have at least one prospective myrmidon!

Silk

Deffo interested, I can try doing some of the sprites but not exactly amazing at it.

Latooni Subota

There's thankfully a ton of maps out there to steal, so it's really just making custom character sprites and making copies of the map we're on with the sprites in different positions/numbers above their heads for damage/etc.

Stuff like this, you know?

Silk

Not sure how to use stuff like that, but I could use a thing called RPG maker to make up our own maps as we want them. It comes with a few spites too, or can just import some sprites in depending how it goes. Either way choice is yours

Latooni Subota

If it's not too much trouble, why don't you make an example of a small/simple map and a sprite or two?

Kunoichi

I've handled custom sprites for a Fire Emblem game in the past, if you still need those.  It's mostly just a matter of recoloring existing sprites.  Though, I will admit that the map sprites like these:

...Are easier to get out in a timely manner than battle sprites like these:

Silk

I can't see why we would be using battle animations anyway it would jsut be sprites on map.

Latooni Subota

It'd be FANTASTIC to have someone with experience with Fire Emblem spriting! :O

If you're willing to do it, and Toughie is willing to GM, then we should have enough to start thinking about plot/characters/etc.

Kunoichi

Well, in the last Fire Emblem game I was in, I used the battle sprites in place of character portraits. ^^; Thankfully, nobody else wanted to, so I only had to do battle sprites for my two characters.

Ah, Latooni, looking through the book, I note that there's mention of a 'Laguz and Other Races Guide' expansion?  That's an area that definitely has my interest, so if you'd know where I could get ahold of it, I'd be grateful.

Latooni Subota

They don't exist yet. Like I said, my friend only made up this rp this year, so we're still working on testing out lots of stuff. Heck, this version of the book is only a couple weeks old. x.o

There's going to be a book full of random levels of enemy stats and stuff, a book full of modifications for certain canon continents (Like statting out Jugdral's holy bloodlines and stuff. I'm playing a runaway princess mage with Major Lopto blood in a game atm. There WILL be shenanigans!), and of course a book for non-human races like the Laguz and Manaketes. It'll just take a while to get to that stuff XD

Silk

Well doing the laguz is easy enough. If your taking the schema from the games that have them in. Simplest method is level 30, with their stats doubling when in beast form. and a 150% stat cap compared to human

Kunoichi

Well, I'd certainly be up for testing out Laguz/Manakete rules, whenever they come out. ^^; I'll just have to try some other class until then.  Maybe Performer...

Latooni Subota

I know I wanna try out the thief line this time around. I've played the Mercenary and Trainee Mage so far.

(My mercenary has ABSURD luck with stat growths. She's so fast she's doubling enemies with heavy swords! XD )

Kunoichi

Hmm.  Given the non-combat nature of the Performer class, I could easily have my backstory be that I'm a Manakete who lost her Dragon Stone...  Dancer would probably fit as a First Class choice, in that case.

Alright, I think I know what I'll be playing now. ;D

pendarious

though I can't take a look at the system atm cuz i'm in class I'm still intreagued. so put me down as interested but i'm not sure if i'll join yet.
Psycho Mantis: You must spend every day pretending to act like you're falsely letting on that you aren't not unbetraying someone you don't not purport to allegedly not work for but really do! How do you keep all this shit straight without having an aneurysm?
Revolver Ocelot: *shrug* Practice.
—The Last Days Of FOXHOUND

Mysterica

This game is certainly gaining a lot of positive attention fast!

Latooni Subota

Hold off on making ideas involving being something like a Manakete, Kunoichi. We don't even have mechanics for them yet, and we don't know what plot our prospective GM will give us. :x

Alright.  I'm still sticking with Dancer as a choice, though.  Handing out Buffs and Debuffs should make for an interesting play experience. ^^

Latooni Subota

Dancer has some cool promotion options too. Lore Master gives you that nifty Call Magic, and Sword Dancer let's you be a sexy dancer stabbing everyone in a ten-foot-radius for funsies. @.@

Edit: Dancing Blade. my bad. :x

Given that you need Strength for hitting with Dances, but Magic for the Lore Master's spell, I think I'll probably be going for Dancing Blade. ^^; Not entirely sure on that, though.  My stats might wind up being good enough to support both options...

Edit: Oh, and Charisma will definitely be my Character Specific Skill.  I can use that 'act again' Dance class ability on two people within two spaces of me, so I should be close enough to use it, most of the time.

Latooni Subota

Makes sense to me. If I end up going with the thief build, I'll likely pick Celerity for hilarious running speed, or one of those defensive speed-based abilities.
