Backdraft

In the year 2148, explorers on Mars discovered the remains of an ancient spacefaring civilization. In the decades that followed, these mysterious artifacts revealed startling new technologies, enabling travel to the furthest stars. The basis for this incredible technology was a force that controlled the very fabric of space and time.

They called it the greatest discovery in human history.

The civilizations of the galaxy call it...

The Valkyries are a small but renowned mercenary company operating in the Terminus Systems—the most lawless and dangerous sector of the Milky Way Galaxy. Taking their name from the Norse angels that escort fallen soldiers from the battlefield to Valhalla, the Valkyries mainstay is personal protection and private security. Small in number, and consisting mostly of women and asari, many rival mercenary companies often write them off as a footnote in the greater battle for the private military market of the Terminus Systems at large. Until they meet them in battle, that is. The Valkyries have a reputation for being one of the most elite fighting forces in the Terminus systems—boasting former Asari Commandos, N7 graduates and even a former Spectre or two. When you want the best protection, or something absolutely must be destroyed overnight, you call in The Vakyries.

You and your squad are the newest recruits into the Valkyrie company. Fresh out of orientation and a grueling three-month training program that tested the limits of your own already formidable training, you are soon assigned a mission alongside the rest of the company. All two hundred Valkyries have been assigned the a priority-one mission of protecting the estate of a wealthy client from any identifiable threat. It was supposed to be a cakewalk. It wasn't.

Soon, the entire estate is in flames. The client has been captured, and all of the Vakyries are dead—killed in action. You and your squad are the only survivors. With only your VIP's name to go by, and the title of Valkyrie uniting you, can you uncover the plot you've unwittingly stumbled into, avenge your fallen sisters, save your client and restore glory to the name of the Valkyries?

Mass Effect: Flight of the Valkyries will be an action-packed race through the Terminus Systems—an outlaw region of space reminiscent of America's Old West. Players will encounter deadly firefights, viscous betrayals, mystery, frantic aerial chases through city skylines and stealth missions in thick jungles—all while building and maintaining relationships with their teammates and learning to work as a single, cohesive unit. Sexual scenes are welcome, but completely optional. Action, romance, mystery and blue-skinned warrior women from space. What more is there to ask for?

The poll is closed. This will be a freeform game.

Now accepting character sheet applications.

Character sheet example:

Name: Tela Vasir
Race: Asari
Gender/Sex: Asari
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 135 lbs
Physical Flaw: Several bullet scars in the facial area
Character Flaw: Quick to anger; Impulsive; doesn't think her actions through; isn't above putting civilians in harm's way to achieve her goals
Primary Weapon: M8 Avenger Assault Rifle
Sidearm: M-6 Carnifax
Abilities:Biotic Charge, Warp, Biotic Pull, Incindiary Ammo
Bio: Tela Vasir was an Citadel Spectre for years. During her tenure, she took down some of the biggest criminal cartels in citadel space. This all changed when her biggest informant, the Shadow Broker, reached out to her for help. In helping him, she ran across a rogue former Spectre—a human named Commander Shepard. Despite her best efforts, she was beaten in the field and nearly killed.

After several weeks in the hospital, she returned to Citadel Space only to be called before the council. Apparently, despite Shepard's current status as a "former" Spectre, the Council was still very invested in her actions. Tela was promptly dismissed without excuse from the SPECTRE organization and, without a job, soon found herself unable to maintain payments for her apartment on the Citadel. With nowhere else to turn, she researched mercenary groups and joined the best one she could find: The Valkyries.

There is a preference for female or futa characters, but male characters are also welcome—provided they know that they'll be part of a stereotypically female mercenary group. The Valkyries don't discriminate, but males are a definite minority.

If the polling numbers are anything to go by, then we have enough interested people to start the game. Please drop a character sheet below if you're interested!

Saric

Name: Urdnot Reeshar "RE"
Race: Krogan
Gender/Sex: Futanari
Height: 8'2"
Weight: 688lb
Physical Flaw/Quirk: Has an artificial heart and lung... in addition to her natural redundancies.
Character Flaw: Nymphomaniac
Primary Weapon: M-300 Claymore or a M-22 Eviscerator (depending on resupply opportunities), M-96 Mattock if greater range will be needed.
Sidearm: M-6 Carnifex
Abilities: Tech Armor, Barrier, Charge, Warp Ammo
Bio: The product of one of many experiments to restore Krogan fertility, Reeshar was a resoundingly successful failure. While no more able to reproduce with other Krogan then any other she is uniquely able to reproduce with any other species she encounters and has complete control over her fertility while doing so, all such children are of her partner's race however... though some show signs of non-standard genetics. Combined with a belief that it is Krogan culture that makes them excellent warriors, not biology alone, she has made it her personal goal to breed a new strain of 'Krogan' to carry on their traditions and history whether or not the genophage is ever successfully cured.

In the pursuit of her goal Reeshar left Tuchanka to seek the strongest warriors she can find to help breed this new 'race', maintaining the traditional Krogan attitude of a strong warrior being the best mate while disregarding the warrior's species. Her search has lead her to the Valkyries where she has started saving up both her pay and her leave. She hopes that, should more 'standard' methods fail, she might be able to hire one or more of her fellow mercenaries to carry or 'father' her spawn.

Reeshar's typical Krogan aggression and ferocity, combined with higher then normal levels of intelligence and discipline were able to elevate her beyond her kin enough to be admitted to the Valkyries, while her innate toughness, heavy armor, and biotic barriers make her a walking tank with few equals among the mercenary group better known for skill and speed.

I'm definitely interested in this. I'm thinking of doing something quite a bit different with my character, but I'm not sure how long it will take to conceptualize. I'll edit this post with the sheet, should I manage to do so before someone posts. Otherwise, my sheet will be in my next post.

Name: Celara Felan
Race: Salarian
Gender/Sex: Female
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 180 lbs
Physical Flaw/Quirk: Celara has a deep scar running across her stomach, a souvenir from a mission with the STG.
Character Flaw: Celara is a hedonist, often not concerned with long-term consequences of her actions.
Primary Weapon: None
Sidearm: Phalanx
Abilities: Tactical Cloak, AI hacking, Incinerate, Cryo Blast, Armor piercing rounds
Bio: Celara joined the STG as a scientist, to much protest from her family, and much ignoring on her part. She had an older sister. Let her take on the job of carrying on the family tradition. Celara had bigger plans for herself than spending a few decades in politics. That was too boring.

Even the lab didn't really do much for Celara, and she applied for combat posts whenever possible. Eventually, she managed a position as a stealth operative. Usually, she was sent in to hack defenses, with combat being a last resort. That said, she wasn't helpless in combat, and one mission earned her much commendation when she took down the defenses of a turian rogue, followed by technically beating the rogue in close combat. Celara considered it more of a draw, given the fact that she was gutted and almost killed, but that mission gave her status as an elite STG operative. That status got the attention of the Valkyries, and she was quick to join up. She'd proven she could handle tougher missions. Now, it was time to see if she could handle a more direct combat role.
Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

Are you still looking for characters?  I've got a few already established ME Asari and Human's I could use.

What time frame are we looking at?  Post ME1, ME2, ME3?  So I can adjust my history.

Between ME2 and ME3. The Collector base has been wiped out, but Shepard hasn't blown up the Batarian relay yet.

Race: Human
Gender/Sex: Female
Height: 5'10
Weight:
Appearance: Average size, lithe athletic build, Strong Eastern European features.  Kara keeps herself fit and trim with Tai Chi and Tae Kwondo.  She has long chestnut brown hair and green eyes, an average hourglass figure.

Physical Flaw/Quirk: Reddish Brown scar from her armpit to her hip on her left side just behind her breast caused by flash grenades of Alliance soldiers trying to fight off the Geth attacks
Character Flaw: Known to be a hot head and is very stubborn.

Primary: M-96 Mattock
Secondary: Sidewinder
Abilities
Primary: Assault Turrent Nova,
Secondary: Nova
Tertiary: Tactical Cloak

Bio: Kara is a bit of a hothead but she does it as a defense mechanism.  She's also very passionate and fiery about things she really feels strongly about.  Good luck trying to change her mind once she's committed to a path.  She's usually found trying to find the middle of any social gathering and doesn't care what people think or say about her as she's just as likely to punch someone out as she is to buy them a drink.  With the passion of her personality also comes a certain level of sultry.  Kara doesn't mind using her body to get what she wants and she does it with confidence.  She's also a dedicated professional.  Don't question her knowledge on her expertise, it's the quickest way to end up as that guy she's punching out.

Kara was born on Eden Prime in the Utopia System of Exodus Cluster. Kara's mother died during childbirth leaving only her and her father which meant being restricted to assignments that would allow family.  Raised as the daughter of an Alliance N7 Senior NCO she was brought up around Alliance tech, weapons and systems.  While Kara never joined the Alliance, when her father retired from the Alliance he started a company that built and repaired weapons for Alliance outposts in their region of Space.  When Kara was 16 her father took her on as an assistant.  During the Geths attack initiative, Kara's father was killed when Saren attacked Eden Prime in 2183. Able to evade the Geth, Kara suddenly found herself without family.  A number of current and former Alliance contact officials who had ties to her family recognized her skills and the possible contribution to various non-Alliance entities, as a weapons and tech specialist she would be a valuable contribution.  Kara, unable to support herself agreed, joining what was advertised as an Alliance "support unit".  After more than a year with the organization, Kara realized the organization was actually a Cerberus special technologies and projects unit.

Not necessarily agreeing or accepting the Cerberus mantra, Kara broke away using resources and credits her father had secretly left her.  Using her skills with tech and weapons and her new found combat skill provided by Cerberus, Kara bartered skills for places on various mercenary units eventually being sponsored by a fairly well known gun runner in the Terminus System to join the Valkyries.

Kara is a natural with tech and weapons.  Her ability to tear apart tech and put it back together and figure out what it does and how it can be modified has earned her a reputation as a weapons expert.  Kara is pretty good at gambling.  She used to join games with her fathers Alliance troops as a kid.  Most of them regretted the invitation, but didn't mind a cute girl playing with them, so they overlooked how she usually cleaned them out.

Are we supposed to list weapons and abilities, or is that just something from an existing bio that was left in?

It's something that didn't occur to me when I was creating the bio template. I think it's a good idea, just so we have a more concrete idea of who can do what, and what weapons they use. I'll add it to the template.

ME3 abilities are allowed, since ME2 was designed to have level carry-over from ME2 and the class abilities were nerfed because of it.

New Character Sheet is up! Be sure to give it a once-over to make sure you're using everything at your disposal! :D

EDIT:
To clarify, if you choose to utilize the optional rule, your character can still pick up an assault rifle and fire it at the enemy. It's just anyone's guess as to how well that's going to work out. You're surrendering the skill, not the ability to use the weapon.

thebobmaster

I edited my character sheet, but I wasn't completely 100% on what counted as a primary vs. secondary ability, so you may want to give it a once over just to be safe.

That looks fine. The major abilities are the class-defining ones: The Infiltrator's Tactical Cloak, the Vanguard's Biotic Charge, the Soldier's Adrenaline Rush, the Adept's Singularity, etc.

Saric

I've updated my build based more on the Krogan's from Adramada's multiplayer then standard classes.

Basically she's as tough as she can possibly be, and can charge because Krogan. :P

Edited to add character sheet.

Name: Ashiya T’Massa
Race: Asari
Gender/Sex: Futa
Height: 5’11
Weight: 160lbs
Physical Flaw/Quirk: A scar leading across her left shoulder down towards her mid back. Several other minor marks mar her skin.
Character Flaw: Lack of sympathy; Ashiya isn’t known for her bedside manner, as it were.
Primary Weapon: M-15 Vindicator
Sidearm: M-3 Predator
Abilities: Singularity, Biotic Warp, Stasis - Armor piercing rounds.
Bio: Ashiya is a naturally self-assured sort of individual. She carries herself with an easy, slightly smug confidence, one derived from the potent mix of youth(relative to an Asari) and technical proficiency. The many years gone have left her with a warped sense of humor and a tendency to display it a untimely moments. Ashiya is unapologetic, about her actions or person. Yet her confrontational manner is not to be confused with uncooperative. She has enough self-discipline to curb her tongue when needed, though it isn’t always guaranteed.

Ashiya was born and raised on Thessia, the offspring of two Asari. Despite her family owning considerable wealth, she did not feel sated with her role in life. Politics, nor business or science appealed to the young Asari. It was the idea of the military which caught her passion. She enrolled into commando’s. While the structure and discipline initially molded Ashiya, she found herself increasingly frustrated with it. This frustration grew as she continually clashed with her commander, eventually resulting in her departure from huntresses. The Terminus System was her first stop, seeking out a mercenary group to put her skills to use in a less restrictive environment Shortly after, she joined up with the Valkyries.

Still looking for one more player!

The RP will officially start on 11/24/2017, so as to give players an opportunity to enjoy Thanksgiving. Once it starts, there will be a brief window where new players can still join, but recruiting will be closed down after the Valkyries forces are shattered.

There will still be opportunities for new players to join after, of course, but only during certain windows of time.

Re Z L

Got an idea rattling around in my head, I'll get something up here soon  ;D

Re Z L

Name:  Nyx Prayama
Race: Asari
Gender/Sex: Female/Pansexual
Height:  5'4"
Weight:  98 lbs
Physical Flaw/Quirk:  Exceptionally small, she seems little more than a teenager by human standards, while athletic she is not very strong, nor does she have enough heft to throw down in melee combat
Character Flaw:  Impulsive, jokester, never takes anything seriously, never knows when to shut up
Primary Weapon:  N/A
Sidearm:  M-5 Phalanx Heavy Pistol
Abilities:
Major:  Sabotage
Minor:  Overload, Incinerate, Cryoblast, Decoy, Defense Matrix
Ammo:  Disruptor
Bio:

Nyx is a prodigy, there is really no other way to put it.  Unfortunately she seems to know this fact and uses it as an excuse for slacking off or generally being a pain.  There is very little about technological equipment that she doesn't understand, or can naturally intuit.  Whatever natural Biotic powers she might have seem to still be hidden away, or perhaps it's what helps her better understand the intricacies of AI programming, alien tech, and other complex technologies.  Most normal jobs didn't really appeal to the young Asari, and she was already looking into setting out on her own earlier than what would have been considered normal for the Maiden stage of her life.  She left her homeworld as soon as she was able and began scouring the system for the next interesting thing to do.  She wasn't much for teaming up with others--usually the other mercenaries weren't as smart as she was, or at least not smart enough to recognize her genius.  She stuck to solo gigs for the most part, which meant she was mostly a thief.  There were very few systems that she couldn't hack her way through, sometimes it was just to prove that she could--leaving little calling cards behind--other times it was for some legitimate reason like getting info or money.

When she found the Valkyrie database she began poking around to see what she could find.  She wasn't overly familiar with the organization.  Valkyrie, being the more elite group that it was, quickly spotted the intrusion and apprehended her.  She sat in a confinement cell for a while before she was pulled out, not to be thrown into a prison, but to go through a recruiting interview.  This tickled Nyx's sense of pride so she decided to join up with the group.  She's been with the organization for a few years now, though she still has "discipline" issues, there's really no one else as good as her at what she does.  She's gone through some combat training, but really she's a specialist in dealing with security systems, AI threats, and other tech-related issues.

I don't think the squad is in any particular skill set. Maybe another fight-type character like a vanguard or a soldier would be good, though, since they're leaning a little on the tech and infiltration skill sets.
