Or the non-Game Shark Mew myth for Blue and Red.

Skip Lt. Surge (which means you can't use fly).
Don't do the S.S. Anne part of Vermillion city.
Get a level 100 machamp. (Or if they used the rare candy cheat you told them that it had to be without rare candy)
Surf out to the truck from the dock where the ship is moored. (You can't do this if you beat the ship portion which means you can't get cut so you have to skip out on LT. Surge

Anyway, use strength move the truck and Mew will be under it.

It was a lie.

Another little known set was the "Non Standard evolutions" Like if you have a squirtle at lvl 99 and never use rare candy, you take him to Giovanni's gym and beat him, and your squirtle levels up during the fight it will evolve into some kind of six gunned uber blastoise.

More lies. >_<
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

Never heard about that last one, but I do remember the Mew story. That was pretty common.

I wish I knew more myths, though. I kind of miss their existence. Stupid Internet with its "find any information with ease" technology that I love so much.

Bayonetta is apparently one of those games the critics ate up, but reviewed poorly with fans. Holy crap is the game cheap and opportunistic. They don't even give you all the possible fights up front. There are usually at least four, four, completely hidden fights in each chapter. Something you might very well never know until the end of fairly long and representative levels. It's an obvious tactic to get you to play through the game twice.

The crystal-dragon-Jesus plot makes barely any since and I've played for four hours. The crafting system seems shoehorned into the game. It's absolutely full of bosses in mooks' clothing. Seriously, the red and blue guys are bosses in their own right. They take a long time to take out, and they're lightning bruisers. One of the hidden fights has you taking them down (I say them, because they're never without the other) with only ten punches and kicks. Ten!

The game gets buy on fetish fuel and wacky "WTF Japan!" all the way through. I'm going to put it right behind Cathrine for one of the worst games I've played recently. Good Lord. Also, why can Japan never seem to get good voice over actors for their English localizations? I swear it's like the same handful of anime and hentai voice actors for every stinking one.

I can see why I got it so cheap... which doesn't account for Dungeon Siege III which has proved challenging, rewarding, and surprisingly deep for what is basically a dungeon crawler. Maybe it was the lackluster co-op functionality that bombed it.

Also, what is it with Platinum Games and this whole "we're going to sign you out if you don't have an internet connection and you quickly hit yes" thing. Seriously, I don't care about your leader boards, I never will. Every other company just pops up a message without signing me out if I hit A on the wrong option. Why? Just Why?

EDIT: I just got my first look at XCom: Enemy Unknown (no not the shooter one, an actual strategy game). It is a first look, but it looks pretty dang interesting. By all accounts (I never played the original. It was 1994, and I was about six). From what I've read though they're keeping it pretty strategic and tactical.

A brief rundown:

Research is done by a spoils-of-war methods, and if you hit something with something too big it will destroy any tech or corpses.
You can't save everyone and you have to decide who to defend in the Funding Committee.

It also combines tactical turn-based combat when you conduct ground operations. When you send a squad to conduct an op it plays out with a 3D fog of war and a move-action move-move system. Highly destructible environments and tactical choices in the use of squad members, powers, and cover. Squad members can even be panicked by seeing a member die.

Also it appears very dark. The squad can be horribly killed by the alien menace.

It's a procedurally generated game that's already boasting challenging strategy. Too bad it comes out in fall, but good news: it's coming to every platform.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

Capone

I was never fond of strategy games, so I can't really say much about it. Well, more that I'm just no good at strategy. I loves me some Masters of Orion 2 and Nobunaga's Ambition 2, but I suck at the genre.

I'm still burning through Metroid Fusion, Vanquish and Bastion. Work makes it a struggle to get through them, but I enjoy each one.

Perfect Imperfection

I'm playing Left 4 Dead 2 with my boyfriend and two of his best friends...they keep trolling me and setting me on fire though xD
Feel free to PM me, I love meeting new people! Please check my O/Os before doing so though c:

Hey guys, I have a problem. I want to get ready for Mass Effect 3, so I want to replay Mass Effect, import that save to Mass Effect 2, and use that save for Mass Effect 3. Problem is, since that's such a HUGE job, I don't want to fuck up :/ One small mistake could lose me hours and hours of progress, or the whole game, and even if that weren't a risk, I need a clear layout of all the options and decide from the beginning what I want, and how to do it.

My current save has me broken up with Liara because I fucked Garrus Dx and I don't want that. I need a way to plan my save, from beginning to end.

Edit: Looks helpful ^.^

Sabby

Doing up my charts for three Paragon and three Renegade playthroughs... I'm starting to see the trick to this. Throw the game on Easy, invest into Paragon/Renegade as much as you can and read the walkthroughs. As long as you have the dialogue options unlocked and know which to pick, it seems pretty straight forward.

Sabby

Reading on, it seems the trick to getting ALL members through the Suicide Mission is as follows...

- Gain all team mates Loyalty, by having high enough Paragon/Renegade to get the special dialogue in their missions. Read the walkthrough for it as you play just to be safe.

- DO NOT SIDE WITH ANYONE! After two Loyalty missions, those two will have a fight, and if you side with one, you lose the others Loyalty and Romance. You need high Paragon/Renegade for this as well.

- Get ALL the Normandy Upgrades.

- Give them the following tasks in the Suicide Mission (If they aren't all Loyal by now, then some may still die :()

  - Send Tali/Legion/Kasumi through the vents.
  - Send Jacob, Garrus, or Miranda to lead second team.
  - Send Samara/Morinth/Jack for Biotic Shield.
  - Send Mordin to escort Normandy Crew.

If you follow these instructions, everyone will survive :) But if you want your secretary to get out alive, you have to go through the Omega Relay IMMEDIATELY after your crew is taken, or she will die. The way to save her is as follows.

- Complete all Loyalty missions before getting the Reaper IFF. You can do one mission after this, before your crew is stolen and you are forced to follow. So, the only Loyalty mission you haven't done by now should be Legion, and completing that will kick the endgame into gear.

I really hope this helps anyone else trying to get their ME3 saves in order ^.^ Just keep the walkthroughs nearby, invest in talky skills, a know who you wanna fuck BEFORE fucking!

Saku

I tried to play Skyrim but it's first person most of the time and I get sick from first person games... so pretty much I'm just playing racing car games, Star Wars: The Old Republic and World of Warcraft.
I'm back!
"Times change and so must I. We all change when you think about it. We’re all different people all through our lives.
And that’s ok, that’s good, as long as you keep moving, as long as you remember all the people that you used to be.
I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I swear. I will always remember when The Doctor was me."

Sabby, which platform are you playing on? PC has websites where you can input your choices and create a new save file to import into Mass Effect 2, and I imagine the same will be available for ME3 (or, at least, cut replaying ME1 from the equation).

I gotta go through the ME2 DLC at some point. Fortunately for me, I don't plan on getting ME3 until it's cheaper. I just don't have as much faith in Bioware after ME2 and DA2.

Vanquish is a curious beast. It's a lot of fun, but also kind of annoying. Maybe it is Bayonetta for shooter fans, as I've had some pals tell me they think the game is ridiculously challenging. Dying is certainly frustrating, and I basically call it quits once I reach a point where I'm simply dying too often, but for some reason it's fun and keeps calling me back.

But God damn it, I really wish people would just stop hiring Steve Blum and Nolan North for voice work for a while. For lead characters, at least.

EDIT:

I found a quote from a pal of mine on Vanquish:

QuoteThe difficulty is punishing but it knows enough to punish me while wearing stiletto heels and a push up bra, so I forgive it.

Sabby

360. I already know about the PC saves :) but I'm not getting it on PC.

He thought that was hard? Sure subjective experiences, but still. I think the worst part for me was the anti-vehicle jellyfish walker things. Then I learned to use emp grenades.

I know a lot of folks from that community started playing on Hard mode. I dunno. I'm almost done Act Two and am getting killed plenty, so maybe I just haven't sunk into the mindset of the game as much as I thought.

LunarSage

I swear I'm the only one who misses cheat codes like god mode and the like anymore.   :-(

  ▫  A.A  ▫  O.O  ▫  Find & Seek   ▫

Capone

I think it depends on the game. I mean, Contra had one difficulty setting: Slice-Your-Dick-With-a-Razor. So the cheat code allowed the game to actually be beatable. A lot of cheat codes were just little tricks the original developer stuck into the game so that they could actually beat it. This is how the Konami code was born, in fact, and was never removed because the programmer didn't think anyone would discover it. Was such a hit that it became something they stuck into each of their games for a while.

But considering a ton of games now have a variety of difficulty modes, with plenty where Easy Mode plays itself, those same cheat codes aren't as necessary.

I just wish games would allow me to customize my difficulty level. There are some games I have no problem taking more damage, but don't want to do half damage to the enemy either. Then again, I also believe in a wide variety of customization, which for some reason everyone assumes I as a console gamer am too stupid to even understand or know what to do with (I swear, it's like people forgot Capcom's SNES games like Street Fighter and Mega Man X (and even Nintendo's Super Metroid) allowed you to customize controls).

MercyfulFate

Finally got Batman Arkham City, albeit used and didn't want to pay for the Catwoman chapters.

I finished Castaway II - never did figure out what the Saint, Paladin, Golem and Minotaur talismans were for, and could have saved myself a bunch of weight with respect to the crafting items (I was expecting I could do something with some of those constructs).  I'm not sure if the 'next adventure' in the outro refers to the TD game that Likwid released recently, or if it's another quest-style game.

EDIT:  Started the TD game - it refers lightly to the previous game (Oh, you're the one _____ sent us!)  Not as sure that I like this one so far.

I beat Dungeon Siege III, and have got enough money/gift cards to pre-order the special edition of ME3.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Official Gameplay Trailer

o.O It's like Fable: Competently Designed Edition.for
And without having to marry peasants! Oddly enough, Big Huge Games used to make RTSs. They're responsible for the fantastic Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends games. The latter basically being a closet RPG.

I've never read any of Salvatori's work, but he said one of the conditions he had for working with them is that a dungeon had to have a purpose and be unique. So, well I'm all for it.

Finished Dark souls tonight. I swear I must have spent three hours trying different strategies on the last boss before I found one that worked. The story has left me with so many questions too like

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Why did I want to take lord Gwyn's place anyway?

What do I do with all that power after everythings said and done?

Who was that guy that broke me out of the asylum at the start of the game?

Anyway, my end opinion is its a good game but the story needs quite a bit of work. Its rare that I play a game that is so unforgiving and makes nearly every fight hard until that moment you beat it and shout with joy.   For my first experience with the souls series I would definately get the next one if its anything like dark souls.

Then I had about another hour to kill and I decided to throw in Skyrim again. Im starting the game over as an Argonian mage, specializing in lightning magic

I used to be a little sick of Skyrim, but then I took an arrow to my knee.

Actually there is a "but then I took a sword to the chest." variant.

I used to think taking arrows to the knee was easy, until I took an arrow to the knee.
