So, from the video above, it seems that buried within the latest Skyrim PC patch there are notes pointing towards "Snow Elves" and the "Snow Elf Prince." This could mean the up coming DLC will be about the Falmer, AKA the Snow Elves who were enslaved by the Dwemer (Dwarves) so long ago.

My thoughts are we're going to be hearing an announcement about it at the upcoming E3, with probably a release date for Xbox 360 set for June. Which means that with microsofts exclusive 30 day bullsh*t, PC and PS3 users wont be seeing the DLC till July. That's just me speculating :)

What are you hoping to see in the first piece of Skyrim DLC?

Samael

The Falmer tunnels and ruins were some of my favourite parts of Skyrim, since they really managed to show how much that race degenerated and changed from its glorious days of yore. I also enjoyed learning more of the Dwemer lore along with it, and what kind of bastards they were.
I hope this'll be something bigger, more akin to an addon than just DLC. Looking forward to hours being lost in it.

Well, as Bethesda have stated prior, they are not releasing DLC so much as expansions. This will be a sizable chunk of DLC. One of my favourite regions in the game was Blackreach, and i really wish they'd expand on it :D

Vampires again? :|

Nice that they'll be fleshing out the Dawnguard though. That is what those zealots in the mountains called themselves, right? The ones who seemed sorta unfinished?

What do you mean, again? Vampires are rarely touched upon in the Elder Scrolls Universe. Though I never thought they could transform like that...strange.

Looks pretty cool though. My homicidal Breton thief-girl will fit right in with those Vampires.

SinXAzgard21

Guess I'll be dusting off a spot in my comp for Skyrim when Dawnguard releases.

Ehh...considering the way they're treated overlaps so much I was probably combining vampires and werewolves in my head. Just seems like those two are the go-to "there's more to this world than just quests!" additions.

Well, this is what I can see so far.

Crossbows
New vampire forms
Mounted Combat (if you haven't tried it already on the PC beta patch)
New zones, factions, enemies
New weapons, armour, spells(?)
More 'events' (see the dragon diving beneath the ice)
A return trip to Sovengarde or somewhere similar via a portal
New tilesets (for modders)

Story Tale

Mounted combat? Does this mean there will be armour for our horses now? When do I get a unicorn? ::)

klamity

No clue about armour, and if you have a PC you can get mods for both :P

So far, from what I've seen and tested, only melee weapons work on horses, and the respective left and right hand actions swing either left, or right of the horse. Sorry, no duel wielding or mage-calvary from what I see ):

Story Tale

Boo I play on my xbox. Boo about no mounted mage combat as well. How awesome would a destro mage be on an armoured horse?

Although, you probably still can't take them into dungeons, I'm assuming. If you could I am firing Lydia stat. My horse never complains about carrying my burdens.

Shjade

The dragon diving into the ice lake was probably the most interesting part of the video to me. Dragon battles were so...monotonous. Giving them more tactical options would do a lot to make the combat less dull (in theory anyway).

As for mounted combat: mounted mages would be way too hard to kill. High mobility coupled with long-range nuking? The AI would never be able to keep up.

my Lydia was killed when a dragon ate her. T_T

I wish I had someone to complain about my burdens....

I never use followers. Iunno why. One less thing to worry about.

Also, for PC users, get Bandoleer. Seriously. 600 carrying capacity without any perks or Steed Stone.

Shjade

Or you could just not obsessively pick up every item you run across. >.>

I never liked using followers because they screwed things up too often. They got in the way and/or ruined my stealth efforts far too often for their few moments of usefulness to compensate.

Us warrior types get screwed with our armour weights, especially given that everyone, no matter race or gender starts off with a 300 carrying capacity.  And if you're melee?  Well, you need points in Health as well as Stamina.  So Bandoleer is a freakin' Godsend, especially at daedric armour weights.

Yes, I know, invest in Heavy Armour.  My Orc Who Would King, is now level 33, and only has 67 in it, not enough to get Conditioning.  And that's me in their faces constantly, too.  I have a perk unused, for that simple reason.

If you got enough health (and magic) let a mud crab womp on you a while.

Chris Brady

What's really funny?  Mud crabs STILL hurt at 300+HP, but I Block?  They don't do much damage, like less than 10 per hit.

Heres what I did. Summon skeleton, wail on it, let it beat me until it dies. Simple.

At least it wasn't like the last boss I just faced in Diablo. Teleport and one shot. Whoopee.

Yes.  But it's also the only way to play as you CANNOT to longer put points in everything, you have to focus on what you want.

You also don't get any Heavy Armor experience if you block, only Block experience.

So stop blocking.

Just saw the trailer for the DLC and I'm quite impressed, glad Bethesda still lets you choose between either side like you could in the civil war. I'll be dusting off my mage breton and get him ready to tear apart the new enemy.  >:)

Go High Rock!

This is still a surprise however. I thought it would lean more towards the Falmer, or maybe High Rock and such. Maybe the next DLC?

And get hit for 30 a shot?  Mudcrabs can actually hurt a lot.  And at level 67 H.Armor each tag doesn't raise the skill all that much.

You could always just train it.

One of the twins is the Master trainer, and he can be a follower as well. So, free training.

I believe it's Farkas, and why do you think it's 67, instead of 62?  Not trying to be an ass here, but I have done everything possible, sticking to a concept, to get it that high.  It'll take a while but maybe I will hit 70 in Heavy Armour to get Conditioning, but even then, the Bandoleer mod is my bestest buddy.

Okay, then.

Well, find a bandit chief and just let them wail on you. Heal when necessary. It's not that hard, is it?

Orcish armour.  I think I need to find Mudcrabs that aren't in the Reach or whatever that swampy area is near Morthal and Solitude.  They tougher there.

Still not getting rid of Bandoleer.  It looks too cool not to have.  :P

Sasquatch421

My new Game Informer had some more info on Dawnguard....

New dragon class of Legendary which are supposed to be more challenging then the Ancient class. They are also bringing in new enemies there are only three named so far: Gargoyles, death hounds and armored trolls.

We all know of the new crossbows, but some more info has added that they are slower to reload then bows, but have a chance to stagger enemies. On a great point you archery perks cross over so there is no new tree to put points into. They are also adding dragonbone weapons....

Of course we know there are two sides to the Dawnguard story, but joining has perks of there own... Join the Dawnguard and move into Castle Dawnguard and have access to new weapons and armor with other unnamed perks. Join the vampires and move into Castle Volkihar and also get bonuses to vampiric powers and blood potions.

Another benefit to joining the vampire cause is an upgrade from vampire to vampire lord which is a transformation like the werewolf. The only difference is that vampire lords can exit their form at will unlike werewolves. Another upside to vampire lords is a perk tree that increases when you kill foes by using you vampiric powers. A couple of perks that were mentioned are Vampiric Grip which allows you to lift foes with your mind and drain their life, hovering and turning into a swarm of bats as well as a bite power attack.

Not to be outdone the werewolves will get their own perk tree. Perks are gained the same way as is the vampires like killing when transformed. One of their perks will allow you to call upon werewolf allies when you howl...

We know about mounted combat so nothing more with that, but they are adding a character to the Ratways in Riften which will allow you to change your appearance, though you can't alter you race or gender. Other things are new shouts like soul tear which allows you to rip a defeated enemies soul out and turn them into an undead minion and a return to Oblivion though it's a different part of Oblivion named the Soul Cairn and looks different.

Dawnguard is also for characters past level 10 and 360 owners get the DLC sooner as its a timed exclusive...

Occident

Would have thought they would have used the Vigil of Stendarr instead of just creating a new faction. Also, as this DLC is about preventing the blotting out of the sun, may I ask who wishes to be the first to make a video with the music of Snuff Out the Light?

Snuff Out The Light (Yzma's Song) - Ertha Kitt

EroticAlchemist

I'm definitely stoked, made a Dunmer Nightblade Illusion/Sneak master with vampirism just in anticipation. I actually enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would, far more than my Nord Barbarian type character.

I wonder if we'll actually be able to make it permanently night time? That would be hilarious and make being a vampire much more enjoyable.

Chris Brady

You know, I too made a Nord Barbarian type.  But I'm finding I'm playing my Orc Barbarian much, much more.  I admit that axe mod is immensely silly, but for some odd reason, having an Orc with a massive battle axe is cooler than the Nord with the sword.  Even if the Dovahkiin is more of a Nord idea in my head.

well I got my xbow up to enhanced dwarven with all the fun quarrels, made some dragonbone weapons..and I have to admit the Dragonbone bow (Legendary) is nasty with Fire/Soul Trap and Dragonbone arrows.. but the Xbow has it's moments with Dwarven Steel bolts of (Ice/Fire/Electricity)

I like the ability to sneak with it and not have to draw.. point, shoot.. watch the guys flop around. The Dragonbone bow/arrows are nastier at range though. There is less 'sight' drift with the xbow though. And on a ledge you can pop guys off it with fun. :D

Not I.  Skyrim is better on the PC, just because of the Mod community.

So far.. with the patch, I've seen dragonbone weapons (which are pretty nasty), arrows (craftable), crossbows, bolts (steel/dwarven), a few new spells (two resto spells for the undead), kill cams for spells, ranged weapons.

Two new quest hubs (Vampire's castle and Dawnguard Keep) as well as several areas.
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Like a hidden snow elf valley, the realm where souls go after their soul gems are used and other spots.
