Black Howling

The ancient secrets of a great empire lay beneath the ravaged Plains of Andora. Legend has it that these wild lands were once the center of the greatest human empire the continent had ever seen. Magic the likes of which we cannot fathom was practiced amidst the empire's towering spires, warriors wielded magic blades that could slice holes in reality, and the sky was ruled by floating vessels carried across the winds by trained griffins. Evidence of the empire exist across the entire continent, but the only solid proof ever found laid in these very plains.

The legends say the plains were scorched when the empire grew decadent, scorched by a hole to the nine hells that the empire's very own mages opened. History says that the empire was wiped in but a fortnight after the portal appeared, and that it just mysteriously closed after the damage was wrought, leaving but a warning to the survivors that no human civilization should ever rise there again. The Kingdom of Rosalia has dismissed this legend as a mere superstitious folk-tale, and for the past ten years they have worked tirelessly to try and recolonize the land.

Rosalia's attempt has been very successful so far, and already several prominent towns dot the landscape while dozens of villages and hamlets surround them. For all their success, however, they still find themselves in need of aid. Recently savage creatures have been found pouring from the ruins that can be found across the countryside, causing a panic that the lands may be too wild to tame. Researchers from the kingdom are also interested in the ruins for what secrets they might hold. These among many other reasons are what brings you to these cursed fields.....

That's much of my inspiration and ideas in a nutshell. I'm looking for a group to help explore this region, which is set in a homebrewed setting of mine. I have some really good plot for the game despite the somewhat vague introduction, and I'm looking for characters that enjoy delving into strange new lands and carving mysterious stories. Character creation rules are as follows.

--Players start at 6th level.
--Roll 5D6 taking the highest 3 for ability scores.
--Character wealth will be 20,000 GP plus one personal item of around 5,000 GP.
--Core and APG are the only for sure content allowed, ask about anything else.
--Content from D&D 3.5 must be presented to me to convert.
--This is a western themed game, so use only digital 3D and choice pieces of art for pictures. No anime, it's too oriental.
--Max first hit die for HP as usual, and then roll the remaining five with a minroll of the average. 5 for D10, 3 for D6 etc.
--No monster characters, this isn't the game for that sort of thing.

I already have a possible four interested players, so inquire within. For now it's sure that the healing/support role is taken, as is one of the possible hybrid roles. Only looking for a maximum of six players total, those I've talked to before hand should cast interest in the thread so I know you're still game.

Eternal Blade

I'll give PbP a try, I'm working on a character now.

Eternal Blade

Thought I'd mention this; you should probably post down your deities. I'm just saying!

Crap! I knew i was forgetting something. Let me go fetch the huge list and get to working on it. XD

This sounds interesting. I'm not a Pathfinder expert, but I'd like to give this a go. Could you clarify what you mean by "hybrid role"? Also, are all of the standard PC races present in the area, or would some be considered unusual or travelers from afar?

If you know 3.5, then Pathfinder is very easy to learn. It has quite a few differences. Here is the pathfinder SRD which should answer many of your questions, and I'd be happy to help explain the differences myself. Your questions also made me remember that I needed to add in the fact that I would like everyone to use Plothooks character sheets.

Hybrid characters are those that are multi-classed to aid in two different roles, or whom perform two roles but not quite as adequately as someone more focused. Base classes like this are Rangers, Paladins, and bards. While these have primaries, they dabble in other areas making them less effective at that primary then a specialized character.  Eldritch Knights are also an example of these type of characters.

Now so far as the races go, Dwarves are the main thing that are seen as out of place for the area. It's far from the mountains, mainly hills, plains and forests. Small player creatures tend to be very rare on my games as well because I find them sexually unappealing. Aside from that, none are seen as terribly strange to see. Given I think that limits it quite a bit.  ::)

Sounds good. If it's acceptable, I'm going to try to roll up a half-orc sorcerer. Any suggestions as to bloodlines that fit in with your campaign background would be appreciated.

Half-Orc is good. I know a lot of people don't like the race, but I'm very fond of them. Now for bloodlines, most anything could be good. Obviously from the story the infernal bloodline would be a good one, if you want a touch of something dark, though for a half-orc the abyssal bloodline would probably make more sense. Aside from that, Draconic, Undead, Shadow, fey, Elemental, and of course Arcane.

Now I'll bar the elemental bloodline for now because our hybrid, a multi-classed fighter/sorcerer is using the elemental bloodline. He has no problem with a primary sorcerer in, so as long as you are fine with it, all will be good. :)

EDit: A note, if I'm delayed, it's because I'm transferring all 25 gods I have for the setting on wordpad so I can list them here. >_>

Eternal Blade

Any special Languages? I'm almost done, just putting the finishing touches on the character sheet.

Of course, you're the one that mentions the thing I haven't even thought of yet. I know you hate the fabled common tongue, but it's such a pain to make anything more then a 2D list of human languages. So, no, we have no special languages. Especially not with the 25 deities I'm listing down.  :(

Eternal Blade

:-( Alright, I'll put the finishing touches, and then you can tell me whether I did anything wrong or not.

Looks good. I didn't really notice any issues. Good Eldritch knight. ;)

I'm fine with another sorcerer. I'll try to make sure that we don't overlap too heavily in terms of spells and abilities.

Okay, I'll do some beautification to the sheet, list down my favored class bonuses, and make things more organized while everyone else is getting their sheets up.

Revelation

I'm in as a barbarian, as we discussed. Making a sheet now.

Black Howling

Good to have you along, changing. Glad you made it. :)

Any room for myself?

Actually this is the perfect time for me to get in on my overtly righteous girly paladin idea.
