So, yay for my team then?

Is there anything I want to use the 10 money things I have to buy?

ererruz

As a person who never played 2nd edition WH... how long does it generally take to advance in a career and then switch over to something else?

It depends on how tight-fisted the GM is with eXP, but you can pay 200eXP to exit your current career for any other basicareer so long as you have the Trappings of said career.

Well, what's your Career and what sort of weapons did you start out with?

>Dagger or Hand Weapon

If it says or anywhere you wanna go back to the bottom of the webpage and make sure you've made all the decisions.

I have both listed.

Oh OK so it's not a start with this OR this holdover you've got both of them, s'pretty common.

Probably hold on to the money.  If we have this many playerso far I'd say we could potentially start a group going.

Should we hash things out in grouPM or a thread on the other forum, what d'you guys think?

DomJoe

I am vaguely interested in this... if I knew what any of this stuff meant, I'd decide on a character. Any place to find out more information on these careers and classes?

Don't worry. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but I used that character generator provided, did some googling and I think I might have got a character sheet (well, I'll still change some stuff like appearance or family because rolling for that seems odd and I'd actually like to have some influence on the character I'm playing -- but I don't think that's going to be a problem?).

Lunar Raven

I usually roll against the source material books that I have, but I think I'll use the character gen on the link provided since it seems faster than rolling the stats up individually on the dice bot :P ;D

Ok, got a free moment to generate a character.  I've used the Knights of the Grail sourcebook to customise him to a Bretonnian and gave him the Carcassonne background (loosing 1 of the random starting talents [fleet footed] for the Birth Sword talent).  Sold off his foil (since I took savvy rather than Specialist Weapon Group [fencing]) and bought a Leather Jack instead.  Will write up a rough background for him as time presents.

He's a Bretonnian Noble, Devin de' Lansserrac, and his original sheet generated by the site can be found by clicking on his name in the google doc.

I'm still trying to decide whether to go with an Initiate or a Zealot...

Lunar Raven

Starting as a zealot will give your character a little more staying power in a fight, but starting as an initiate will get you closer to spellcasting (relatively) faster and have better access to knowledge from the get go.

Side details about family, eye colour, etc can be safely ignored.  They're only there if you want them.

Yeah, it's worth remembering that spell casting is both dangerous and fickle.  While I certainly think there are great rewards to be reaped for investing in spellcasting and sticking with it, well...

You're going all-in with casters, especially arcane rather than holy casters.  They won't come out the other side as sane or whole as they went in.

Very nice.

Anyone mind if I go ahead and claim DM-hood?  There don't seem to be others predisposed towards running 2nd Edition

Please do!

I think I'll go with an Initiate, aiming for Priest (and possibly Warrior Priest or Flagellant/Scourge of God later on... if we ever make it) then.

EDIT. When you finish a career, do you have to exit to a career offered by the career you just finished or can you exit to any careers that you qualify for thanks to previous careers? Let's say I'm an ex-Initiate, ex-Priest, Flagellant. Do I have to exit to an exit career offered in Flagellant's entry or can I also exit to an exit career mentioned in Initiate or Priest? What if I can exit to a career I've already finished -- does that change anything (i.e. allow me to exit to that career and immediately finish it once again or something to exit into one that's allowed by that given career?) Sorry if it's a simple question but the book's confused me...

Well Jez, you're the only one making the effort, I'd say go for it.

In any case, I think this character should be suitable for submission:
Edit: That link doesn't work... damnit. Gotta recreate the character again.

Likely will go to Highwayman next, then Master Thief if we get that far... then I dunno after that. Going for a ranged build, since it seems like we'll have a healer and frontline fighter already.
Likely to also change a few physical characteristics as well, including name. I hope everything is in order.

The book gets über confusing about careers.  I believe you can only follow your current careers exits unless you pay doubL to swap into another basic.  If there's no otheruling on it, I'd say you can pay double and go back to a career you might have branched off to but didn't, as that seems like a logical thing to allow.

Who's down for a Saturday start?

DomJoe

Saturday seems alright. We still need to discuss more details I believe, like kinks and the like.

Thanks. Certainly opens up some new options.

I'm fine for Saturday but we could use some extra info about what you plan the game to be like -- all-Empire or maybe travelling to other countries? City or urban areas? More politics- or combat-oriented? Any major themes you foresee, like fighting the forces of Chaos featuring prominently, or perhaps only somewhere in the background?

If I may make a suggestion, I would personally love to see some Chaos-heavy plot (not necessarily in the beginning considering we hardly stand a chance against something like that), but in the long-term. I would also love if my character's goddess' imprisonment somehow fit into that plot -- I'm not saying it'd have to center around her or anything like that but even some simple side-quest concerning her cult or anything that could drive my character's search for the keys or his fight against Tzeentch would work.

Alright, hopefully this works... and it does, thank god.

Liking the character!

Yes, a discussion of kinks would be most appropriate.  I'm thinking Exotic NC in case of Slaanesh but we of course don't need to go there if anybody doesn't want to.

I think I can make this work, hear me out.

Great map for ref.

I'd start you guys in the south east of the Empire, southern Wissenland let'say.  A wandering noble out of Brettonia, an Elf Outlaw (I imagine far more common so close to Athel Loren), and a Priest of an obscure cult sometimes prosecuted in the Empire.  I'll put the party in the same place, go ahead and assume you've exchanged pleasantries and know one another's names before the game commences, and then proceed to dangle something nice and shiny for each of you on the far side of the Black Mountains.

I'm a very free-form kind of DM so if you wind up in Albion or Norscar or Altdorf cause of a hanging thread you decided to chase then I'm not going to be upset you didn't take the bait somewhere along the road--but at least initially, to bring the group together, bait you I will.  It'll simply be the most economical and safest to travel en suite (although you'd all probably be keeping some secrets from each other, like about not!Chaos patron and outlawery and such) to the far side of the mountains for what'd amount to a quest reward.

You'd split your time between traveling and civilization, or whatever passes for it where you're headed.  Politics will be optional but if that's what the main pursuit turns in to no issues here--prepare for blood either way, though.

From my view this opens up opportunities to bring in the Law deity's cult (operating outside Imperial jurisdiction is the best way to avoid persecution), give an opportunity for the noble to obtain some land, and perhaps Tallana will find herself a shiny new bow... or getting stuffed from either side by her travelling companions\wandering Orks\fellow bandits, who knows.

We really should throw out what kind of kinks we're hoping to get into/Avoid here.  I'll scout everyone's O\Os as is customary but I find sometimes people have a time-specific craving or aren't feeling something at the moment or in a certain setting.

My O/O Is simple

Out: herm/futa, if this shows up at any point ever I am out of the game full stop.

Off: All the watersports related stuff. Gore is kinda frowned upon since I'd rather be raped than dismembered. Slavery and bondage start here but I can allow it in moderation given a proper situation for them.

On: Just about anything else.

Sounds great to me! Here's the .pdf generated by the character creator but I'm going to change the name, appearance etc.

Also, since Initiates get one additional skill depending on their god... given that my character serves Arianka, the Chaos God of Law and Discipline, may I suggest Academic Knowledge (Law) or possibly Command as these two seem to make most sense?

As for my O/O... as a homosexual male, I'm all for M/M (switch lately with a dominant streak; all for D/S and BDSM) but if that's not your area, I'm happy to play "sex-less" game so to speak -- any sexual affairs with female characters will probably end up in fade-to-blank in his case. Offs: bathroom stuff, gore.
