Once upon a time, there was a power in the world. A power wrought by human minds and souls, powers that bent reality and warped logic itself. This was a power called magic, and those who wielded it, mages. Over the centuries, though mankind forgot, shyed away, and locked these powers as secrets and myth. As time flowed on, even children began to forget the wonderful powers that had once filled the world.
Twenty years ago, a project was started to research into unlocking magical powers once more. Utilizing crystals, arcane symbols, radiation, and other, more secret technologies, they began to search for a way to warp reality thus, a way to bring magic back. Soon, they found something; they had stumbled upon the ability to enhance human genomes to grant incredible abilities.
For ten years now, the Magically Amplified Genome Experimentation Project, affectionately codenamed M.A.G.E., has worked in secret, pushing upon it's subjects amazing abilities and physics defying powers, each one unique and specialized, but, still unable to grasp the simple key to unlock true wizardry, the project continues even today, unbeknownst to the dusty, quiet town of Goffston, Nevada above it. Now, the experiments sit and wait. Some survive, merely awaiting their chance to awaken as superweapons in and of themselves. Some, though, do not endure, and many is the unfortunate one who died from thse experiments, and just as numerous are those filled with hatred and fury for those thus fallen.
Now, though, energies have begun to spread, and unbeknownst to any but those directly affected, these energies have begun to birth the same powers in rare beings even above the surface. Unchecked, these beings must learn on their own how to contain their new abilities. With some embittered against the project, some loyal to the source of their newfound power, and some struggling in the open world to control it, few see coming the inevitable clash that could alter the future of humanity itself.

This is an old tried and true RP opening that me and my friend Aravol had a very entertaining experience with several years ago on another site. Many epic battles, of both, mind, body, and heart. We missed it and enjoyed it so much we decided to bring it to you all here on Elliquiy. We hope we find many interested in joining in one of our alltime favorites.

Characters can be from any of four main groups of people.

The Scientists and employees working within the lab, cold calculating individuals with brilliant minds. Each fascinated by the abilities developing in their charges, and determined to delve deeper and learn more about every aspect of their abilities.

The Experiments. The poor souls from ages ranging from preteens to those in their mid twenties. Each with magnificent magical abilities that defy imagination. So long have they suffered in captivity, and now they have the chance for freedom, will they take it? Or will they join the ranks of...

The Hunters, experiments endeared to their masters. Whether from brainwashing, or a feeling of gratitude for receiving such marvelous powers, these experiments are dead set on following the scientist's bidding and returning the escaping experiments to their cells.

And then, The Gifted. Those susceptible youths from above in the city of Goffston who fell victim to the wasted arcane energies seeping from below, and developed abilities on par, if not exceeding those of the experiments confined below them.

Character profiles are to have a unique color that you shall use for every word typed, both for other users to be able to easily identify the character in question, especially in the case of multiple characters per player, and for another reason that will be disclosed once play has begun.

Please have a small image to go along with character description, if you can find none that are suitable it is acceptable to go without if description of their appearance is detailed enough.

PM your characters to either myself or Aravol for now until a character thread is created for the RP. We will start once we think we have enough. 10 will suffice as long as we have at least two of each group.

On "designations"
Experiments are given a unique identifier by The M.A.G.E. Project, as any organization would do. Note that only Mages known to the project will have these designations, so The Gifted and scientists would not have these labels, and ALL such Mages have them. The Gifted might pick them up should the Project learn of their existence. The numbers or series of one's designation do not have any consistent correlation to their abilities or powers.

A Designation consists of a Greek Letter, followed by a two-digit number. The Greek letter is usually shortened to an English one.
Examples:
"Beta series number eleven, B-11"
"Zeta series number nineteen, Z-19"
"Gamma series number thirty two, G-32"

asmariamoon

Player: asmariamoon
Name: Rebeka (AKA Rebel) Smith
Age: 20
Appearance: Rebel is tall and skinny, with pale skin, amber brown eyes and black hair, usually tied back in braided pigtails.  She most often dresses in a Gothic fashion, most often employing black or purple with silver or pink accents.  She is almost never seen without her silver charm bracelet, which she wears on her left wrist, with only a single charm attached, in the shape of a double Venus symbol.
Bio: Rebeka Smith, or Rebel, as she is known by her friends, was always different from those around her, even in school.  She was often the target of taunts, and sometimes even bullying, but she never let other people's opinions of her stop her from being herself.  She had always been fascinated by the supernatural, so when she found out that there was an entire subculture devoted to morbid curiosity, she was naturally ecstatic.  She began to express her affinity for what most would call dark thoughts through her clothes, and began to hang out with others who dressed like herself.  While on a ghost hunt with her friends, she became separated from them, and came across a room where a series of runes was scrawled across the walls.  Overwhelmed by curiosity, she reached out and touched the runes.  Immediately, the shadows around her began to take corporeal form, scaring her and her friends out of the mansion.  After a bit of research, she found out that the shadows had been turned corporeal by her own awakened abilities, and she began to teach herself how to keep her powers under control.  However, she's still learning, and thus, her shadow powers are quite unpredictable.
Abilities: Rebel has powers of shadowmancy.  She can make shadows move across any surface they occupy, and with a bit of effort, mold them into a tangible form.  Because her powers are most in tune with shadows and darkness, she has an aversion to bright lights, such as the sun.  If the sun catches her eyes full-on, she can be temporarily blinded.  For this reason, she never leaves the house in daytime without her tinted goggles and some sort of hat.

Question Mark

Submitted my character profiles.

I may make a third one.  Maybe.

Saku

Player: Saku
Name: Cael Castile
Age: 21

Appearance: He stands at nearly 6' tall, dressed in dark pants and a faded black leather jacket over his bare skin, his long, somewhat wavy blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail by a ratty tie. Around his neck an extremely short necklace could be seen with a small mother-of-pearl shell dangling from the leather. Dark eyes, almost black, hid his soul from view and his muscular body looked as though it had seen quite a few fights in his time ... that or he worked out a whole lot.

Bio: Unknown. He has a younger sister and she is overprotective of him, not wanting anything bad to happen to him and so wants him to stay close to her at all times and never go off alone. He is a Hunter, for the magical ability he has developed from the scientists is so confusing to him that he doesn't think he would be able to survive without their help. So he is grateful to them.

Abilities(experiments): Mimicry. Mimicry is the power to copy any power and use it as your own. In more detail, in the beginning Cael will only be able to copy the power of anyone in the same general area as he is and use it as his own but once they leave the room without him he will lose control of the power and be like an ordinary human. He thinks this is as far as it goes. But later on as time passes and he gains better control of his power, it will develop.

Personality: He likes to take care of his sister even though she wants to take care of him. He has more strength physically since he is a male but she is more agile and adept with her body than he is. Cael tends to want to prove he can take care of her just as well as she can take care of him. He is a very caring person and this tends to get him into trouble quite frequently.

Color Desired: #405AAF

Player: Saku
Name: Caeli Castile
Age: 20

Appearance: Stands around 5'10" and has long flowing black hair and green eyes, clothed in a washed out olive green tank top and tight dark shorts. A wide and thick black leather belt is clasped around her waist that has little bags dangling from it that obviously have something in them. On both sides of her body she wears a knife on either side of her belt held in a sheath which is kept in place by black leather straps and attached to the belt for further security. She is one of the few allowed things like this that could be considered weapons since the scientists trust her not to use them in a bad way. Black leather hand gloves with the fingers cut off up to the first joint of the fingers also makes up her appearance.

Bio: Unknown. She has an older brother and he is always with her no matter where she goes. It seems as though she is hesitant to go anywhere without him for some reason. She is a Hunter as well.

Personality: Caeli is the type of girl that likes to take care of her brother, to show that she is just as capable of doing anything a guy can do. Her brother may have more physical strength than she does but she is just as powerful as he is with her skill at martial arts which serves her quite well in a fight. Caeli unlike her brother tends to be rather distant and cool with other people she doesn't know and it usually takes a long time before she can open up to them. She tends to bail Cael out of trouble when his kindness and caring towards others gets him into trouble. Caeli trusts the scientists the most and they trust her enough to let her carry two weapons on her body.

Abilities(experiments): Caeli has two abilities. The first is Conjuring - the ability to instantly conjure objects from nothing and the second is that she can read the minds of others.

Color Desired: blue

PS. I PMed you these character sheets too :)
I'm back!
"Times change and so must I. We all change when you think about it. We’re all different people all through our lives.
And that’s ok, that’s good, as long as you keep moving, as long as you remember all the people that you used to be.
I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I swear. I will always remember when The Doctor was me."

Of course the GM has characters of his own, profiles for them will come later however. Just know that the research project's current Director, and the instigator of the breakouts are played by me. So far Aravol has not made me aware of any special positions for any of his own characters. We will inform you all of any other mild restrictions in time.

cldstrife15

Okay, so far we have three doctor characters, three hunters, and a topside mutation to work with. But no experiment escapees to speak of. So how about it guys? Who wants to be a runaway superhuman teenager? Lol

PeacethatPowerbrings

Player: PeacethatPowerbrings
Name: Gabriella (O - 47)
Age: 19
Appearance: At five foot, two inches, and a hundred and twenty pounds, Gabriella is small and thin especially considering her increased muscle density. She has short, naturally black, but often strangely styled, oddly coloured hair, ranging from spiked blue and upturned to nearly pure white pig-tails. She is most often wearing white terrycoth pants, and an undone straightjacket. She has heterochromia, in that, she has one blue, and one green eye.

Bio: Born an orphan, her mother dying in childbirth, Gabriella entered the M.A.G.E. project as a child, and knows little else. Without even memories of a home, or a happy time in her life, Gabriella was a reserved and quiet child, developing, through her powers into an irrepressable preteen, and finally, a nearly psychotic teenager. She is variably capable of outright acts of violence, to unexplainable attachments and manufactured relationships with new acquaintences. Within the project these traits were a benefit, allowing her to be a pleasant subject, to even the newests of researchers. Her memory is compromised to the say the least, and her powers, while stable, and highly effective are, unlike mental abilities, unchanging. Her powers are purely physical and physiological, enhanced learning and regeneration, as well as advanced physical traits. Her life spent in the project was, from her point of view, the only one, and after escape, comes to view her captivity as a kind of childhood, formative, but essentially flawed, as she puts little stock in anything she learned from the project, and focuses more on the world above.

Abilities: Regeneration (accelerated healing and tissue replication), Superhuman strength, Superhuman speed, Increased aptitude (extremely fast learning speed.)

Notes:

As the result of her quick learning speed, she also changes her mind fairly quickly, manifested in her shifting hair style, and colour.

As a result of her Regneration, her nerves have never decayed, as such she feels pain at a much higher intensity than normal people, resulting in an aversion to anything even remotely painful, and a suseptability to tasers, and other pain-inducing weaponry.

Colour: Purple
I am filled with recollections of lives I have not lived.

ChaNeko

Player: ChaNeko
Name: Dr. Markstone, Katherine Elizabeth - Biologist
Age: 35 years old

Almost always seen in her long white lab coat, Dr. Markstone is trim and somewhat athletic from yoga and endurance training.  She is a Caucasian female with dark chestnut hair, usually worn in a bun and kept out of her way.  She has calculating green eyes that are camouflaged behind titanium framed eyeglasses, her slight astigmatism simply a nuisance and not really an impediment to her vision.  She is 5' 6" without heels and about 140 lbs on a bad week.  For her private time within the testing lab, she runs on the treadmill, often outdistancing the average expectancy for a woman her age.

A consummate scientist, Dr. Markstone is in it for knowledge of the unknown, the thrill of discovery.  She believes in the benefits of this program and runs her life as efficiently as she runs her lab, centering everything around her 7 year involvement with the MAGE project.

Crovonovin

Player: Shihong
Name: Mu-04
Age: 20
Classification: Experiment
Appearance:

Bio:

Codename Mu-04 is a somewhat unique case.  An experimental test subject without a past or an identity, the little girl had been found bleeding to death in an alleyway, and was brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.  The trauma of whatever grueling experience had occurred that night plunged her into a coma.  Without family, the situation seemed grim.  That was when the M.A.G.E. product stepped in.  Seeking younger test subjects without worldly attachments, the girl seemed the perfect fit.  Using their considerable funding they adopted her under false pretenses, and had her transferred to what they considered a more respectable hospital.  Only after the fact, with some intense digging, was it discovered that the 'family' and hospital had never existed to begin with.

Without the need to bother with helping their newest subject to acclimate to her new home, experiments began almost immediately.  Much to everyone's surprise, only preliminary tests were conducted before the girl's eyes opened of their own accord.  Though blind and unfocused, the effect upon everyone in the room was nearly instantaneous.  All were gripped with an inexplicable sense of dread and intense paranoia, and only by blindfolding her was the effect ceased.  Rather than continue and hope for the best, Mu-04 was placed in a containment cell for further observation.

The next attempt at experimentation ended far more catastrophically, with five research assistants dead and three other staff members wounded in the attempt.  Cameras within the room itself were unable to discern the cause of the visibly spontaneous manslaughter, but an artist's rendition of the perpetrator was constructed from the descriptions given by the precious few survivors.

Codenamed Entity M-04a, it is believed to be directly connected with Mu-04's awakened abilities.  The full extent of the subject's capabilities are unknown, as any further attempts at direct study have been deemed a Class 5 Safety Hazard.  Projectile weaponry has proven completely ineffective against the entity, as have all magic based assaults.  It is assumed that destruction of Mu-04 would eliminate the entity, but as all signs of aggression have been shown to be defensive in nature, this option has not yet been considered a necessary means of disposal.

Abilities: The extent and nature of Subject Mu-04's abilities are unknown due to insufficient study.  It was first assumed to be at least partially cerebral in nature, given the adverse reactions upon the unprotected human psyche, but later remote experimentation has proven inconclusive.  Resident psychics have been unsuccessful in probing the subject's mind, often stating that there does not appear to be a mind in the subject's head at all.  For all intents and purposes, Subject Mu-04 is certifiably brain dead.  The nature of her guardian entity has also eluded all researchers.  While it appears to manifest only to those within the immediate vicinity, like the illusionary constructs of several other subjects, it is capable of physical interaction with those it deems to be a threat to its ward.

Extra Notes:

  • Subject Mu-04 is currently detained in solitary confinement in the deepest portions of the facility, given the ambiguity of her condition.
  • Though her eyes remain open, Subject Mu-04 still remains in a coma-like state.  She remains firmly within a wheelchair at all times, without restraints.
  • Subject Mu-04 appears to have no need for either food or water, and neither excretes waste or takes in oxygen.  If not for her heartbeat, the subject could be considered clinically dead.
  • Mu-04 is considered a pet project by many scientists working at M.A.G.E., though most attempts to unlock her secrets are made in the hopes of an early promotion and recognition, rather than any genuine curiosity.

Question Mark

Ya Shih, that's a killer character you got.  Where'd you find the first image?  It looks familiar...

*   *   *

Player: Question Mark

Name: Raine Annabelle Iabara

Age: 24

Appearance:Ignore the hair in this pic.

First off, Raine is a tomboy.  Whenever she dresses, or messes with her hair (on the rare occasions she even touches her hair), it's done with tomboy in mind.  She cars little about what she wears, as long as its comfy and utilitarian.  She always looks like she just rolled out of bed, for better or worse.

Raine is 5'3" and 146 pounds.  Her skin is light mulatto, and her features Hispanic.  Her hair is short, roughly one and a half inches and usually appears as linked, although it is dyed like this picture.  Raine has a slightly overweight body, but the additional fat fills out her pre-existing curves rather than forming new ones.  She usually wears jeans, t-shirts, vests, and hiking boots.  Her favorite colors for her clothing are "earthy" and "dirty".  She'd never be caught dead with make-up on.

Bio: Her childhood is irrelevant.  Raine went to college for mechanical engineering, graduating in the top third of her class before returning to her hometown of Goffston.  Two years later, she lives in a small but nice apartment and works as a general mechanic at a local refit shop.  She likes her home and she loves her job.  Aside from not being in a relationship since college, there's really not much else to say about her life.

Ability: Cloning.  She does not know yet.

Personality: If Raine were asked, she'd call herself a "nice punk".  She flagrantly and constantly spits in the face of social, political, cultural norms...  But she does so in a tangent, non-offensive fashion.  Not in any rude way like the people who wear "FUCK YOU!" shirts, but in a simple - almost innocent - way that always provokes a second, curious look.  Raine is very proud of her simple nature: she wakes up, goes to work, goes home, enjoys herself, and goes to bed.  No obsessing over her appearance, no frivolous money-absorbing activities, no participation in the endless game of monitoring what you say and what you do in public.  Socially, Raine comes across as extroverted and amiable, constantly chatting with customers and coworkers.  Despite her bubbly nature (which her last girlfriend had insisted was her most attractive attribute), she has no friends outside of her work, but she doesn't care.  That's the other thing about Raine.  Life's taught her to roll with the punches.  Things tend to roll right off her back, for better or worse.

But, uh, be careful if you mention her intimate relationships.  Although most things don't faze her, Raine's biggest weakness is never being able to let go of her past partners.

Extra Notes:
- Has serious asthma.  Always carries an inhaler on her.  Although attacks are relatively rare, they're killer (literally) when they do occur.
- Hates religion.  Don't bring it up or you'll be stuck in a one-sided rant on the evils of organized worship for the next hour.
- Very liberal in her political outlooks.  If asked, though, she'll shrug and say she doesn't care as long as her taxes don't get too high.
- Loves the cold.  Every other window in her apartment has an air conditioner, and they run year round.  Rooms without windows get fans in the doorway to circulate the cool air.  During the winter, she leaves windows in her often-occupied rooms open.  Predictably, she hates heat.
- More to come as I flesh this character out.

Color: Orange

*   *   *

Player: Question Mark

Name: Dr. Adrian Gregory Delmas

Age: 67

Appearance: In recent years, Dr. Delmas has let himself go.  Although he used to practice a strict diet and exercise regimen, lately a combination of age and stress has given him a small but noticeable pudge.  His hair is receding and completely white.

Bio: Dr. Delmas was once one of the founding leaders of M.A.G.E., co-directing in its first three years of existence.  Once magical energy had finally been isolated and identified, thus allowing research and development of it, Adrian willingly resigned from his position.  Instead, he chose to create and lead the Division for Psychological and Emotional Research, Paranormal (PERP), which focused on the mental effects of being exposed to and using paranormal energies (read: magic).  Many of the original failed experiments were "trial runs" of unusual psychologies (i.e. depression, sociopathy, etc.) in order to nail down criteria for future experiments.  Because of this, most of the Alphas were the successful results of PERP testing.  However, the PERP division was mothballed for a variety of reasons once the Beta group was created, and Adrian chose to be reassigned as the Director of the newly formed Hunter Corps.  However, he continues independent research in the PERP files, observing and analyzing the interacting dynamics of Hunters and their targets.

Education: Earned a Ph.D. in Psychology at Princeton University, doing various individual studies and research in order to graduate a year early.  Adrian specialized in the human mind, specifically psychological illnesses.  His research helped develop non-medicinal treatments for anxiety, and he is credited with discovering the elusive chemical triggers of panic attacks.  Adrian was also one of the first researchers to stumble onto the "hidden potential" that would eventually be known as magic.

Aside from his doctorate in psychology, Dr. Delmas has also conducted years of personal research and self-education, exploring numerous other topics: religion, history, medicine, and parapsychology (which led to his personal discovery of magic) being a few.

Personality: Although Adrian has always been a quiet person, decades of research have shaped his reserved attitude into a very analytical, results oriented mind set.  He has become an expert at emotional detachment, almost to the point of total social isolation.  He thrives in organized, neat settings.  He is very dedicated and persistent, and has recently been obsessing over the inner security of the experiments and M.A.G.E. in general; some would say to the point of paranoia.  Dr. Delmas' one "soft spot" would be for parapsychology, the only thing besides the Hunter Corps he expresses true interest in anymore.

Extra Notes:
- Has a fondness for classical music; can't work without it.
- Many of his colleagues are convinced that he's a sociopath.
- He has a (strictly unofficial) say in many top-level M.A.G.E. matters.
- More to come as I flesh this character out.

Color: Brown

Player: Question Mark

Name: A-91, Samantha Rory Jamison (Alpha Series, Exp. 91)

Age: 29

Appearance: I apologize for the pixelation.  >.<  She is average height, average weight.  Physically toned, because she's a hunter.

Bio: Sam is an Alpha, and so was one of the first successful batches of experiments to be produced by M.A.G.E..  Before her indoctrination in the program, she was a mentally disturbed teenage high school dropout, living untreated in a juvenile detention facility.  Suffering from a dangerous mix of Bipolar-I and paranoid-type schizophrenia, Sam was either ousted or arrested every time a foster home or homeless shelter tried to take her in.  She was eventually labeled as untreatable.  Suffering from constant delusional hallucinations as well as the aggressive mood swings of bipolar disorder, and with no relatives or friends to speak of, Sam was simply locked away in juvie, her ailments ignored, left unmedicated and untreated.  You think you know horror?  Try going through the four years of pure hell she suffered at the correctional facility.

During the pre-Alpha recruitment, Division heads scouted for outstanding and unusual people in order to figure out what conditions - physical or mental - could obstruct or enhance magical ability.  People with rare blood types, genetic disorders, mental illness, or incurable diseases were prime choices.  Sam's highly disturbed mind proved to be a perfect testing candidate for Dr. Delmas' psychological research, and she was quickly "recruited".  Amazingly enough, magic suppressed her mood swings and hallucinations, virtually curing her incurable mental disorders.  Immensely grateful for being freed from her demons, Sam was amongst the first experiments to volunteer for the Hunter Corps.  Since then, she has been training and learning, willingly pledging her life to M.A.G.E..  Her devotion is fanatical.

Abilities: Sam is the center of a Dead Zone.  Magic can not act or be used within 3.051 (~10 feet) meters of any living part of her body.  This means products of magic will cease to exist if they come within 10 feet of her, and people who can normally use magic will find their abilities gone as long as any living part of their body is in her Dead Zone.  She cannot extend, contract, or affect the Dead Zone in any way.  It's as much a part of her as her skin and bones.  It has been theorized that the Dead Zone "nullified" her mental illnesses, although this is far from proven.  Also, her Dead Zone has proven extremely useful for her job as a hunter.  If she can get within ten feet of her target, they become virtually defenseless.  However, if a magic user remains in the Dead Zone for any period of time longer than a few hours, they'll become hosts to minute, flesh-eating parasites.  The nature and cause of the parasites is unknown, and Dr. Delmas himself banned further testing or research.

Personality: Sam is a very serious person.  Seriously.  She has experienced some of the darkest and most traumatic events imaginable, all products of her own mind.  Nothing fazes her, nothing humors her.  Someone's action is either threatening, helpful, or irrelevant.  Her moral code is based entirely off M.A.G.E.: if you're a friend of them, you're good.  If not...  You're evil.  I wasn't kidding when I said she was fanatically devoted.  Because of this, Sam is one of the few, questionably lucky, people who can view the world as black and white, with no gray area to speak of.

Although unlocking her magical potential somehow banished her delusions and mental disorders, it also flat-lined her personality.  Sanity granted at the cost of her vitality.  However (and there's always a however...), Sam has recently begun showing bursts of erratic behavior.  It would seem that her magical cure-all is beginning to finally wear off, and it's currently impossible to tell what effect that will have on her mind.

Extra Notes:
- More to follow as I flesh this character out.

Color: Black

Question Mark

A few questions...

  • How does the Hunter Corps work?  Do Experiments regularly escape from M.A.G.E. and/or do they primarily hunt Gifted?

  • Where is Goffston?

  • What is the long term plan for the Experiments?  Are they eventually going to be discarded, or is the plan to find some kind of application for them?

  • Is M.A.G.E. still "recruiting" for it's genetic experimentation?

  • What is the size of M.A.G.E.?  Facility, personnel, equipment, etc.

  • Does M.A.G.E. have an ethical/moral code when dealing with Experiments?

Aravol

Answers for question mark:

-The experiments break out as of the first few posts: it's how the game begins. The hunters, though, are first released shortly afterwards, and are not even so named until said release. Most hunters have, in previous incarnations, been depicted as having been cryogenically frozen until this time.

-Goffston is in Nevada, so expect very, very little in the way of anything beyond city limits.

-The plan for most of the experiments is to continue to study them, or apply them as powerful super soldiers. The second application is awaiting approval, though.

-Yes, M.A.G.E. continues it's "recruitment" to this day.

-M.A.G.E. is said to be an underground compound, and has before been shown to have at least it's own division of armed guards as well as the associated facilities. Expect these guards to be heavily armed, up to an including automatic firearms.
There are also scientists, experiments, and, in most cases, facilities for holding these experiments. Any power is nigh guaranteed to have a countermeasure holding cell.

-The moral code in incarnations past has been very lax, if it can be said to be existent at all. Given our extent of M.A.G.E. personnel as players, though, this will be up to those playing said personnel.

cldstrife15

Finally! I have returned!

The trip to the clambake in new york went well, we didn't spend long at the picnic before taking the long drive back to New Hampshire, even got caught in traffic on the way back three times. @_@

Anyway, now that I'm back character profiles can again be directed to me.

Crovonovin

In the interest of getting this off the ground as soon as possible, I would be more than willing to create more potential escapees as the plot demands, whether they be human or otherwise.

I sure hope so!

There's still plenty of room. We need a few more escapee characters before I want to start. Can't have a jailbreak story with only three people excaping. :P

Zadaris

((If you're still looking for people.))

Player: Zadaris
Name: Epsilon-13 (witholds true name)
Classification: Experiment
Age: 22

Appearance: Pictures speak louder than words

Bio:

E-13 was always known to be a problem child, even before his conscription into the M.A.G.E project. As a young kid he had the ability to get the most unlikely people to follow him, not only being great with words but a man, or boy, of action. His gang pulled off small time heists from shops and became a nuisance.
However as he reached his late teens, this same gang started to pull of crimes of higher magnitude, ranging from extortion, political tampering and murder, the latter of which got him caught by the authorities.
Before a sentence was carried out it was requested that he be written off as executed and given to a special programme, which suited him just fine.

He was 18 at this time.

For a little more than four years the brilliant scientists performed a number of experiments on him, ultimately leading to the rapid deterioration of his body. With his stamina the minds within didn't want to lose a valuable, and infinitely re-usable specimen. They came up with a way to solidify his body once more, but the result was more than anticipated so when he slaughtered an Omega series for what he deemed 'progress', they detained him.

But he was to be detained for shorter than hoped.

Personality:

E-13 is a rather laid back individual and even though he's like a demon when he's angry its incredibly difficult to make him reach such a level of irritation and annoyance. He favors gaining respect through action, yet he'll use fear if any other options are exhausted. He displays no fear himself, going so far as to openly taunt people, and beings, he hardly knows or just dislikes in general.
He has always considered himself superior to normal people, even before joining the M.A.G.E programme, and has a tendency to look down on them, however he respects some people who try to attain impossible goals as it is possible for everything to evolve through 'progress'.

Abilities:

Steam: Aside from his major internal organs, E-13's body has become entirely composed of steam. This radical change in his physiology allows him to manipulate his body in many ways, like extending his limbs using surrounding moisture and heat, and using built up thermal energy to give him inhumane speed and strength. He can even use the intense heat to sterilize and close wounds, though he has yet to find a practical use for this.

He has the ability to reach a superheated level of heat with sufficient stored energy but not only does this take awhile to amass but being in the presence of liquid water deters his abilities completely, such as large bodies like rivers and oceans and even heavy rainfall. Atmospheric moisture however doesn't hamper his talents.

Misc Info:

-For a man of such cruelty he has a rather sweet tooth, enjoying sweets of all variety.
-He detests smokers, for unknown reasons, and in a bad mood would kill one without remorse.
-Considers himself a liberal man, dishing out his cruelty to anyone, regardless of gender, race or creed.

Bio:

Z-01 is among M.A.G.E.'s more bizarre subjects, in that he--or perhaps it--is not a result of human experimentation at all.  The creature was first discovered in the London Underground in 1976, where it became something of an urban legend among the population.  Many sightings were reported directly to the authorities, to the point that police landlines were flooded with the disturbing tales.  Curiously enough, each successive round of calls described the precise number of the things has being greater than the last, to the point where they were likened to an infestation of rats.

Though some police were sent to investigate the cause of the hysterics, none were able to find a trace of the creatures being described.  Following the initial panic, the sightings became progressively less frequent, eventually ending one month after they had began.  It was not until 2003 that the creatures would be spotted again, when a tourist snapped a clear shot of one with his cell phone.  What had been an urban legend became a full blown cryptid overnight, gaining the attention of certain researchers at M.A.G.E. Institute.

Sending in a full blown retrieval squadron, the London Underground was summarily picked apart mile by mile.  Only after a full three weeks did one of its units make contact with Z-01.  By that point their numbers were enough to completely overwhelm all but two of its soldiers, literally crushing them beneath their collective weight.  The remaining two were able to net the preoccupied swarm, and a massive electrical current was enough to pacify the targets.  In that moment, all but one of the creatures vanished without so much as a trace, and the last was brought in for study.

Abilities:

Zeta-01 is capable of duplicating itself when a third party directly acknowledges its existence by way of eye contact.  Though relatively weak by itself, Z-01 is able to exterminate its victims through overwhelming force of numbers.  If all of its copies can be rendered unconscious simultaneously, the subject will revert back into a single entity.  Likewise, it is assumed that its numbers will gradually diminish the longer it goes without making eye contact with another living being.  Covering one's eyes with reflective material, such as sunglasses or visors, does not seem to make a difference.  Only keeping one's eyes closed serves to disable the effect.

Additionally, the subject is capable of climbing over any surface, regardless of its texture and lubrication, and is able to function normally in environments with little to no light.  Attempts to blind the creature and disable its duplicative powers have proven useless, as it displays a remarkable resiliency to damage.

Notes:

  - Z-01 is nocturnal, in that it prefers to avoid bright light, but otherwise remains active at all times of the day.  It has not yet shown a physical need to sleep or rest.  It also seems to be strictly carnivorous, and will eat nearly any sort of meat.
  - Z-01 is fully capable of swimming, and is able to remain below water near indefinitely.
  - Electricity is a proven method of disabling the subject.  Though strangely resistant to damage, sufficient cranial trauma can render Z-01 passive for a short period of time.  Fire seems to have very little effect.  Likewise, weapons-grade inhalants are next to useless, given the creature's ability to hold its breath for undetermined periods of time.
  - Given its extremely hostile nature, adaptivity, and unique duplicative capabilities, Z-01 has been named a Class 10 Biohazard, and capable of initiating global extinction in the event that it were to be released into a highly populated area.  The only apparent reason that such an event has not already occurred is the creature's preference for living in sewer systems.  Z-01 is detained indefinitely in the deepest portion of the M.A.G.E. facility, where it has been equipped with blinders as a preventative measure in the event of a breakout.
