p.s. by the sound of it we have two semi frontliners with my shifter and a rogue, so perhaps a bit of a healsluting offering cleric would be welcome also perhaps some ranged/magical support. My gut-instinct suggestion is: Unless the DM states otherwise, grab someone that can do stuff outside of combat, on forum-rps you -can't- do all fights, those just take too long..

I am not sure you were talking to me, but considering the two characters we have so far, maybe a cleric.  Was my first thought, though Muse had suggested he might play one.  Maybe a cleric if he doesn't play one, or a ranged fighter type?  Not sure I want to play a mage type.

Probably won't get a character up until Saturday.  And, will warn you, am a complete newbie with Pathfindinder.

"No, chainsaws."  (just kidding)

I'd guess in this game the number crunching will be less important than having an interesting character.

Ixy

I'm thinking monk.  Maybe an oreiad but not married to the idea.  I just liked the idea of alabaster skin with jade veins and... Err... Shiny.  But it's all cool.

We got it.

Ouch, okay, rolled my stats.  Any quick suggestions on where to put a 6 for a cleric?

str, int or cha, details depend on the build.

Max

Not sure on build.  Probably general purpose healer/turner of undead.  Had thought Dex.  But maybe Strength.  Think I want to keep Charisma up to keep the undead away.

You can drop strength if you build for range. You can drop int if you can roleplay it. If you want to turn people on you gotta keep charisma. *chuckles*

We have pretty good throughout utility, looking over things. Perhaps should try and recruit more folks in the general thread though? Never hurts to have a spare member...

Max

Not sure I want to play a low Int character.  Have done it, had a blast doing it, but don't think I want to do it here.  Had been thinking Dex, but maybe Str.  We do have two good front line types.

My goo is pretty decent tactical midrange frontline. Dropping dex is risky because you act later and are hit more easily.

Max

Okay, this is what I have so far.  Will get my spells done, image, and such.  Let me know what you think.

Name:  Liana Aranhall
Class(es): Cleric of Desna
Race:  Human
Alignment:  Chaotic-Good
Description:  Liana stands at 5'4", with with mark of Desna on her left forearm.
Fetishes: Bondage, slavery, gags, cages, blindfolds, pony play, forced submission, noncon, monster/tentacle sex.
Dislikes: Mutiliation, gore, pedo, scat.
Backstory:  Liana served for some years as an under priest of the goddess Desna in the Devinport.  Mostly she spent her time in the city, looking after the temple there in the city where she was born and raised.  She grew up to moderately wealthy merchant parents, but always wanted to follow her heart, to be a priestess of Desna.  The priesthood took her in, and she trained with them, enjoying her time in the temple.  On occassion, she was sent to missions outside the city, and on one such mission, the small party she was with was attacked by bandits.  Captured when struck from behind, she awoke to find herself in the hold of a slave ship.

Ability Scores(+Modifiers)
Str:  6  -2
Dex: 14  +2

Cha: 16  +3

HP:  40
Armor Class: 12
Initiative Bonus:  +2
Speed: 40
CMD:(10+ Your BAB +Str/dex+feats)
Saving Throws: Fort +4  Ref +3  Will  +9
Languages:  Celestial, Elf, Orc, Aybssal.
Chosen Feats:  Selective Channeling, Divine Fighting Style (Way of the shooting Star), Eschew Materials, Extra Channel.
Traits: (also, Drawbacks if applicable)
Skills:
Diplomacy  5  +6
Heal  5  +8
Knowledge (Religion)  5  +5
Sense Motive  5  +8
Spellcraft  5  +5
Equipment and items:
Attacks (Attack bonus +Damage with chosen weapon
Domains:  Good and Travel
Traits:  Birthmark and Merchant (+1 trait bonus to Appraise and Sense Motive skills when judging the price of good).
Spellcasting
Cantrips

I have several questions.  Why are the flaws at?  Two, there was mention of a birthmark holy symbol, where are those rules?

And anything I should know about hit points?  So DM max out hits points at first level, or have certain rules for it.

  Oh!  Okay!

Oracle of Flame sidelined in favor of a sorceress!

Does anyone have issues with character who are Smol?  Gnome maybe?

  Just speculating there!

Edit!

High Fantasy point buy?  That's 25?

Speaking for myself, nope, no issue with a small character..  Thought 20, but please, please, please, don't quote me on that!

So if y'all like the outline, you can roll your characters! I was thinking high fantasy point-buy or you can roll for them whichever you prefer

I'll probably use point buy, but if i don't is it okay if i use my own dice?  What rolling method?

Me and Roleplay Frog used the 4d6 and drop the lowest.

the rolling is, statistically, better than point buy.. unless you roll a lot of 6'ers. :P

Let me know about Liana as she is so far.  If I should make any changes.

Not finished, hp are missing and skills are too low anywhoo. you get +3 on favoured class skills.

Max

Was wondering if the skills and feats 're okay.  HP, spells need to work on.  Saw the bonus about the skills, but bnot changed it yet.  Thanks for the heads up.

Is very much a work in progress.  Still unsure of e domains and maybe goddess.  May change to Saranae and healing and fire domains.  Or stick with Deana and swap liberty for another domain.

I dun really know what you plan to do with spell penetration.

The whole chain of channeling feats is something I'd only use in a campaign where I expect a decent amount of undead, aka, ask the DM. This is twice true for the lack of undead in erotic settings. Undead turning is basically best at taking out large amounts of weaker undead.

Max

Good point about the turn undead.  Guess it is my reflexive Second Edition AD&D kicking in.
d?

So, uhm DM, will we be facing lots of undead?

As for the channelling, can't I use it to heal, or did I really read that wrong?  Hence the selective channel, to try to limit the healing to y'all, and not someone in melee with you.

Seems that early on, AC will be low, so damage is going to add up fast.

Sorry to be a pain about this, but where does it talk about traits and disads.

Will think about it.  Have to get back to work.

Selective channel is useful, but only if mobility is limited, I usually prefer to use a feat that improves mobility instead, because you can use those all the time, not just when channeling. The only time this would be relevant is when the enemies are all clusterfucking around us.

AC is only one of many game-variables. My character is build with a specific setup that combines improved disarming abilities with a high damage reduction to all but slashing damage. Now, claws are still a problem, but besides that I am confident in my damage-sponging abilities.

As for traits and disadvantages, you know you can google them up, yes? It's exactly what I do. if you mean general rules, the usual approach is 2 traits, or 3 traits, 1 disadvantage, ofc this is up to DM as well, some dun allow them to simplify things, etc.

helvorn

I've found that the pathfinder guides to various character classes are really, really helpful.  I'm not the most adept or knowledgeable at character generation but the guides really help pick the important stuff or at least understand what might be important.

I personally find Channel Energy to be extremely useful for healing--and something that you can optimize with a few simple build tricks like Selective Channeling and--if you have decent hit points--shield other.  After all, getting area healing with a spell is something you won't do til level 9 cleric (or 10 oracle).  It's also a good way to be group support if you happen to be in a group that has trouble remembering buffs--a problem that almost killed my interest in cleric for a while.

On a fun but not so thematic level, it's great for build an more social character who is still a strong adventurer--very useful for combat situation.

Max, you're talking bout a Cleric of Desna, right?  Or is that somewhere else?  Have you seen the faith based fighting style feats?

There's one available to faithful of Desna that lets you make star knife attacks off of Charisma.  i'm using it in one of P.A.C.'s games.
