There exists a reality beyond what can be conceived by mere mortal minds. A reality that is a cosmic snowflake made of countless parallel worlds. For all their variations, both mundane and grand, there exists one common ground that links them all… the hearts of heroes. Some are filled with light, some are haunted by darkness, but all stay strong when their world is threatened. And now a threat most dire looks across the entire multiverse. The existence of countless worlds, entire universes, reality itself is at stake. Those who rise up to defend existence from annihilation will be more than heroes. They will be Paragons. They will be…

My need to feed my addiction to alternate Earths has led me here. The concept is inspired by the epic comic Crisis on Infinite Earths as well as its television adaption, various other cosmic crossover events, the show DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and some out-of-universe influences like Marvel’s Exiles and that classic of 90s TV Sliders. This story begins as a mysterious woman named Harbinger gathers beings from across the multiverse to form an elite team known as the Paragons. It is their duty to combat threats to not simply humanity but to reality itself. These Paragons will travel to infinite worlds to protect the integrity of existence.

And who are the Paragons? They are heroes (and maybe not quite heroes) gathered from throughout the DC multiverse. Mainstream characters, Pre-Crisis versions, live-action and animated adaptations, denizens from the past and future, Elseworlders, acquired IPs like Wildstorm and Quality, and even new interpretations and original creations straight outta your own noggins. Anyone willing to leave their world to defend reality. Some might even be considered villains for whence they came. When not saving existence they will be headquartered in the Nexus, a satellite that exists in the space between parallel universes. During downtime they can even take shore leave on Earth-Prime, a world free of superhumans and remarkably untouched by multiversal concerns… for now. And if someone isn’t really feeling their character then it's easy to send them home and get a new recruit. Also versions of the same character are allowed, might even make for some interesting interactions.

And adventures? Well, for one this won’t follow an established pre-existing plotline. You don’t need to know decades of DC continuity or have seen hundreds of Arrowverse episodes. There will be various missions to go on rather than just having one epic-super-fight. Opportunities for characters to do more than punch a Big Bad. Things will be cosmic but street-level sorts will be able to shine along with powerhouses. And while the end goal is keeping reality from being wiped out, the tone won’t be all grim and grittiness. Alternate Earths are fun, super-heroes are fun, so the atmosphere will have both thrills and chills. The Nexus and Earth-Prime are there to allow characters to interact socially, including in ways the Comics Code Authority would not allow.

UPDATE: Alas, while I had a couple characters submitted to me there really wasn't enough to move forward with this. Thank you to all that were interested and maybe I'll revisit it down the road.

Manaan

I am definitely interested. The idea of Keaton's Batman (my avatar) meeting alternate versions of himself and other villains sounds fun.

Raku

I’ve been wanting to make my own Robin/batman for a while.

Kadigan

Totoro

Potentially interested. No idea who as and will depend on time but definitely a fun idea.

I'd probably like to write as one of the versions of Natasha Irons ... maybe Starlight.

edit: I couldn't think of a better word other than versions, as Natasha evolved over her story with different abilities... sorry if that ticks on anyone's nerves.

Not sure who but certainly seems like a wide range of options.

Wow. Glad to see there's already this much interest. Here's a bit more info on being a Paragon...

The Paragons
The Paragons are a group of heroes gathered from across the multiverse to deal with threats that go beyond a mere world. Well, mostly heroes. Some might be less altruistic but understand the need to keep all reality from unraveling. The members are recruited by Harbinger, the messenger of the Monitors who watch over the many parallel Earths. This requires leaving their home Earth so as to be at peak efficiency. As such all Paragons are eighteen and older. Candidates are chosen based on a variety of factors. While power is useful, there are non-metahuman Paragon whose ability to adapt to overcome obstacles is just as valuable. They are headquartered on the Nexus, a massive satellite that houses the Monitors. The Paragons actually utilize only a small part of the Nexus known as the Hall of Heroes. Wandering around is strongly discouraged. The Nexus exists in the Bleed, the reality between parallel world. The Paragons use a ship called the Waverider travel through the Bleed to the universes where they are needed. In addition Earth-Prime has been designated a place the Paragons can visit during their downtime due to the lack of metahuman and alien threats. Each Paragon has a small device called an interdimensional extrapolator that opens a breach from a pre-designated point on Earth-Prime and the Nexus  so they don't need to use the Waverider. When on Earth-Prime Paragons are expected to keep their true nature as secret as possible. It is understood that the mission can create personal strain being away from loved ones so a Paragon resigning is understood and the search begins for a replacement. Missions can vary from rescuing an accidental multiversal traveler to preventing a mad god from erasing existence. It's an interesting gig.

Please note characters are eighteen and up while figuring out who you would like to play. And to maybe help a bit there here's a list of worlds in the multiverse. You character doesn't have to be from one of the ones listed, I'm putting in here more for inspiration...

The Multiverse
This is a not by any means exhaustive list of the DC Multiverse. Well, my interpretation of it since various big cosmic events have led to worlds being added, subtracted, renamed, etc. There are gaps as not every Earth has been described so along with there being an unknown number this gives plenty of room for new ones to be created and characters to be from there.

Earth-0: The mainstream DC continuity, also called New Earth
Earth-1: Silver Age characters
Earth-2: Golden Age characters
Earth-3: The Crime Syndicate
Earth-4: Charlton action heroes (Captain Atom, Blue Beetle, the Question, etc)
Earth-5:  Fawcett characters (Shazam, the Marvel Family, etc), also called Earth-S
Earth-6:  Just Imagine characters
Earth-7:  A dead world
Earth-8:  Analogues of Marvel characters (the Champions, the Extremists), also called Angor
Earth-9:  Tangent characters
Earth-10: Axis won WWII, Quality characters (Phantom Lady, Doll Man, etc), also called Earth-X
Earth-11: Gender swapped versions of characters
Earth-12: Near future characters (Batman Beyond, Justice League Beyond)
Earth-13: Vertigo and occult versions of characters
Earth-15: A near-Utopia
Earth-16: Legacy characters (Damian Wayne, Kon-El, Arrowette, etc), also called Earth-Me
Earth-17: Post-nuclear war wasteland
Earth-18: Old West versions of characters
Earth-19: Steampunk versions of characters
Earth-20: Pulp versions of characters
Earth-21: New Frontier characters
Earth-22: Kingdom Come characters
Earth-23: Predominantly diverse characters (Calvin Ellis, Nubia)
Earth-25: ABC science heroes (Tom Strong, Top 10, etc)
Earth-26: Funny animal characters (Captain Carrot, Zoo Crew), also called Earth-C
Earth-29: Bizarro versions of characters, also called the Bizarroverse
Earth-30: Soviet versions of characters
Earth-31: Pirate versions of characters
Earth-32: Merged characters (Wonderhawk, Aquaflash, etc)
Earth-33: Minimal amount of metahumans (Ultraa, Superboy-Prime, “Threeboot” Legion)
Earth-43: Vampire versions of characters
Earth-44: Robot versions of characters
Earth-50: Wildstorm characters (Midnighter, Grifter, Voodoo, etc), also known as Earth-W
Earth-Omega: Taken over by Darkseid
Earth-Prime: No metahumans, minimal divergence from the “real” world
Amalgam Universe: Merged DC and Marvel characters (Dark Claw, Super Soldier, etc)
Animated Universe: Animated versions, also called the Timmverse or Diniverse
Antimatter Universe: Pure evil (Anti-Monitor, Sinestro Corps, Weaponers of Qward, etc)
Arrowverse: CW television continuity
Burtonverse: ‘89-’97 Batman movies and ‘04 Catwoman movie (Patience Phillips)
Dakotaverse: Milestone characters (Static, Hardware, Icon, etc), also called Earth-M
Dark Multiverse: Shadow of the multiverse (Batman Who Laughs, Dark Knights, Barbatos)
Extended Universe: Current movie continuity
Impact Universe: MLJ/Red Circle characters (Shield, Black Hood, Crusaders)
Nolanverse: ‘05-’12 Batman movies

Thanks again for all the interest!

Manaan

So happy to see the Burtonverse on the list. I would like to stake a claim to Batman from the Burtonverse as a paragon :) Of course if an audition is required I will gladly do that.

Kailandra

I'd like to state my interest as well as put in a 'claim' for Supergirl; from the 'Elseworlds Finest: Batgirl & Supergirl' one shot.

Basically, Kara arrives on Earth...but there's no Kal-El. She's adopted by Wonder Woman and becomes a vital part of the JSA. Also, the Waynes were saved by an off-duty Jim Gordon, who had taken his family to the movies that night. The Gordons are shot by Joe Chill, leaving only Barbara as a survivor who gets adopted by the Waynes...

Kara eventually is courted by Lex Luthor, the sponsor of the JSA, only to find out that Luthor found and killed Kal-El when the infant's rocket crashed on Earth. All of LexCorp's advanced science and technology comes from Lex analyzing the infant Kal-El's corpse and the rocket.

Auditioning not required but if you can juggle chainsaws I'd love to see that.  ;D

She works for me!

Can I do a original Robin?

As long as it's an 18 or older Robin and any images chosen are of an adult.

Planting my interest as well.

Pondering a few different character ideas, but at the forefront of my mind are:
Post apocalyptic version of Zatanna, Medieval version of Raven, Pirate Harley Quinn or Soviet/Earth-X version of Poison Ivy (if villains can be a part of the team)

I can juggle chainsaws once in a lifetime ;)

To quote the philosopher Meatwad, "this will only hurt once, but boy... is it gonna hurt."

Yep, villains can be part of the team as long as they can... well, be part of the team. Like Harbinger and the Monitors are all abut the big picture. Someone who has done some gimmick-themed robberies is OK, a murderous psychopath... not so much. The initial group gathered in the first issue of Crisis as well as the Legends of Tomorrow team had some people who weren't on the side of angels and it made for some interesting interactions. All your ideas are good.

Would love too!  Have a few ideas!!

Cool cool cool.

Really love the level of interest so far. Not gonna switch to recruiting quite yet so as to give people some more time to chime in with questions and ponder the possibilities but things are looking good.

I think I shall be very sad if we don't have Lex Luthor: Record Producer.

Yes, that happened in comics.

The Muzak on the Nexus will be by that alternative folk duo Ivy and Harley.

Manaan

I am super jazzed with all the interest. I hope this takes off, it should be a lot of fun

What about Sleez, the porn producer?

Yes, that's a real character....

Are OC's okay?  'Cause I have this concept of a character who basically exists in all universes simultaneously.  For the most part, each iteration of her is unaware of the rest, but will recognize anyone (or thing?) another iteration of her has seen.  A sort of subconscious link I call "Intercarnation."  How iterations react to the new memories may vary, though I picture her running into the Legends going, "Oh, it's you again."

(Fittingly, her name just happens to be "Crisis."  Although she spells it Chryseis)

HopeFox

I'd love to get in on this! I have a great fondness for animated Justice League and Young Justice in particular.

How does a Long Shadow from JLU sound? One who's found a way to stabilize his cellular structure, but is still very aware that he was created in a lab to appeal to a demographic. I found Long Shadow's story very moving and was sad about what happened to him. He would have joined the Paragons to find a way to help people and find an identity for himself after discovering that his own identity was fabricated.
If you're such an iconoclast, where were you when we trashed Constantinople?

Sounds good, the DCAU is an acceptable universe to hail from.

Thinking possibly Earth 5 Georgia Sivana.....sort of more a work release kind of thing maybe...

Hee hee... those would both be awesome. I just re-read the Thunderworld issue of Multiversity because I force myself to do deep scholarly research for you people and Georgia was a lot of fun. And more Jonni Future is always good because we didn't get a lot of Jonni Future.
