Okay, so, I've recently been writing a lot of MechWarrior crossover stories on FF.net, and thought I might try to get one started here! I think all you BattleTech Fans (And some who aren't BattleTech Fans) Will get a kick out of this.

THE STORY: (For you non-BattleTech People)
It's 3050. There is only war. In this shattered and torn galaxy, there are people who are on the front lines of conflict, putting their lives on the line for what they hold dear. Suited up in their 100 Ton killing machines, called BattleMechs, these people fight day in and day out, the next day no longer certain for them. They are; MechWarriors.

THE STORY: (Of the Role Play)
It's 3070, the clans have been kicked out of the Inner Sphere and the day to day backstabbings within the Great Houses continue. Great House Steiner and Kurita are at each other's throats over a land grab the Draconis tried, and something's up with the Federated Commonwealth. You don't really much care about politics though. The only thing you do care about is the great and mighty equalizer, that which has been your idol, your GOD... since the day you left your mother's womb. The Almight C-Bill.

THE BACKDROP:
You will be taking the roles of hardened (Or newcomers, the choice is yours) 'Mech Pilots, Mercenaries... more specifically. I'm looking for about 5-7 'MechWarriors, and maybe (If we feel up for it) A financial advisor and a ComStar Representative. Here's the kicker, though. If you caught the meaning of the introduction and thread title, you'll be choosing ANIME, VIDEO GAME, or MOVIE characters to put into the roles of your 'MechWarrior. That's right. No OC's here. You'll be picking a person who isn't used to piloting a 100-ton killing machine, and making them do just that.

REGULATIONS: (Because we all need them)
There are a few regulations I must implement though. No characters from other Mecha series will be allowed. No Gundam characters, no Evangelion characters. No Break Blade characters, et all. Seeing Ryu Hyabusa from Ninja Gaiden trying to fly an Atlas 'Mech is funny. Seeing Shinji from Evangelion doing it... not so much. Now, if you want to edit how the character looks (Minutely) or their personality a little, be my guest. If they've got some kind of defect that would make piloting a 100-ton killing machine nigh impossible, you can lessen\remove it with permission (If you wanna be Lily from Katawa Shoujo, and remove her blindness, by mah guest.) But the character has to remain more or less in tact.

CHARACTERS:
This is the base Character sheet for your characters.

Player Name: This is you.
Character Name: This is your character.
Character's Origin: Series your character is from. For all those people who wouldn't probably know. Like me.
Age: 16 and up, please. Keeping in mind that most potential 'Mercs go into Tri-M at 16, the younger they are, the less experienced they'd be.
Basic Description: This can be either verbal or pictoral
Preferred 'Mech: This can be anything from the 20 ton Firemoth to the 100 ton Atlas. If it's a Clan 'Mech, make sure they have a reason behind why they have it.
Mercenary Unit Affiliation: I haven't built the Mercenary Unit yet. I will when I get some peeps. Leave this blank for now.
Facts About This Person: Call this section what you want. Here, I basically want a few interesting things about this character. Do they lock up in times of extreme stress? Are they Alpha-Strike crazy? Do they push their BattleMechs to the edge of overload before shutting down? You know, things like that.

For now, don't start posting any characters. If you're interested, let me know here, but let's hold off on characters for a bit yet.

That should about do it. For all of you non-MechWarrior fans out there who got interested in this, I have a surprise for you.http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Main_Page. Ta-daa! The BattleTech Wiki! Feel free to read on some of the mechanics, or, if you'd rather not read that, PM me, and I'll be happy to give you the basics.

CirclMastr

Color me interested.  But, I have a couple questions:

1. Are we limited to anime/movies/video games?  No TV shows or comics, etc., allowed?

2. Is this going to be a system game, and if so, what system?  I think I have books for three different MechWarrior RPGs and they're all outdated, heh.

Statistics are like a bikini; what they reveal is significant, but what they conceal is even more important.

Xenolord

As long as the series doesn't have some kind of Mecha in it, you can use them. If you think you can play that character well, be my guest.

And as far as system is concerned, it might have a type of system, something simple. I haven't gotten that far yet. Working on it, though!

orderNchaos

I'm interested.  I've got a pretty solid background in the Battletech Universe.  I assume that since you mentioned that the Clans have been kicked out of the Inner Sphere that this is not a cannon story line but more of an alternate story line....(since the Clans were stopped at the battle of Tukayyid).

I love playing Mercs so color me very interested.  Cheers.

McAwesomeSauce! And yea, it's kind of an AU. After all, I don't think we had... ya know... Magical Girls and Marines piloting BattleMechs. ALRIGHT PEEPS! I think we've got a good enough start. Go ahead and start makin' yer characters. I'll do that same.

Player Name: Xenolord
Character Name: Mami Tomoe
Character's Origin: Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Anime)
Age: 23
Basic Description: Mami is a blond haired, amber-eyed Mercenary who's been in the employment of ComStar for four years now. Skilled and reliable, she is a mercenary who has been known to do the impossible, although the means behind these otherwise impossible wins are unknown.
Preferred 'Mech: Hollander IIC modified into a 55 ton 'Mech. Outfitted with 3 Clan ERPPCs, her Modified Hollander, the Tiro Finale is a dangerous long-ranged 'Mech, but extremely squishy at close range.
Mercenary Unit Affiliation:
Personality: Mami is a strong-willed, caring person. She remains stalwart and calm in the heat of battle, and can often be seen with her eyes closes when not in direct combat. She is never the first into combat, but will always finish what was started. She works well in teams as well as solo, but her record is not spotless. She has been kicked out of five Mercenary Units in the last two years for 'Severe Friendly-Fire incidents' that weren't completely her fault. Simply try to stay out of her way if you're between her and her target.

So yea. That's that. Still workin' on a decent unit. Also, if you guys want to play characters who aren't exactly normal, and play those abnormalities, be my guest. (Magicians? Vampires? Shapeshifters? Demi-Gods? Be my guest!)

Revenent

I'm in. ;D I've already got a character in mind, just need to look over some stuff more.

C'mon, peeps, don't make me the only Mercenary here! Character Sheets! Nao! *Claps hands.*

#9
Player Name: Saric

Character Name: Jil

Character's Origin: Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk; Tower of Druaga: The Sword of Uruk

Age: 22

Basic Description: See pic. One of those rarest of beasts, a merc with a sense of honor and a little bit of a hero complex, Jil has none-the-less been accepted by several merc units over the years for his willingness to take a hit (or five...) for the team and his tactical acuity. Despite his lofty ideals and most un-mercenary day dreams he doesn't shrink from doing what's needed to get the job done. He does have a tendency to think better of people, but his earnest, loyal, and steadfast nature causes many around him to find themselves living up to his standards despite themselves.

Preferred 'Mech: He uses a Cudgel BattleMech with 6 ER Medium Lasers in the front torso and the rest of the lasers striped out. Instead it mounts Jump Jets, a Supercharger, and a Targeting Computer. Finally the Mace has been made into a replaceable mount that can fit a custom built Sword or a Shield attachment which, with the TSM, supercharger, and jumpjets, allows for truly devastating lunges and shield rushes.

The Aegis of War takes the hits and just keeps coming.

Mercenary Unit Affiliation:

Facts About This Person: Highly protective of his teammates and always pushing the limits of his Mech Jil gets in close to keep the enemy busy while his team gets the job done, but just because he's the distraction doesn't mean he doesn't dish out the damage. Has been known to bring a Mech sized shield on special missions, usually when facing an entrenched enemy with clear lines of fire to the approaches or any other situation that would result in extended periods of exposure to long range enemy fire while unable to maneuver freely (such as escort or base defense missions).

Several reports exist of his Mech taking especially heavy hits for wounded or lightly armored comrades, or while drawing fire from allies or clients, and seeming to suffer far less damage then it should from them. However all investigations so far conducted have turned up no explicable cause for this effect.

I'll work on a character for this. I'm not sure yet who though.

Character Sheet

Player Name: Ghostraven

Character Name: Suì-Fēng

Call Sign: karasu (Raven)

Character's Origin: Bleach (Suì-Fēng)

Age: 21

Basic Description: Suì-Fēng is a short and petite woman with gray eyes and black hair. Her hair is worn short with two long braids bound in white cloth each ending in a large golden ring. She doesn’t actually look big enough to pilot her 75 ton battle mech.
Suì-Fēng is a mercenary through and through offering her services to the highest bidder. Despite her Mercenary reputation she is honorable and has always completed her contracts.
She is a ruthless opponent in combat with an uncanny ability to seemingly appear from nowhere to strike her target or disrupt her enemy’s plans at a pivotal moment.

Preferred 'Mech: Suì-Fēng pilots an all-black painted and customized variant of the MAD-5L Marauder - Suì-Fēng's variant of the 'Mech removes the entire weapons payload of the MAD-5L and upgrades the Engine to an XL version to save weight. The 'Mech retains its fourteen tons of Stealth Armor with a Guardian ECM Suite as well as the Triple Strength Myomer. The 'Mech carries two clan ER PPCs and a Clan Ultra Autocannon/10 with two tons of ammunition. The 'Mech also mounts two Clan Medium ER Lasers in each arm and a Medium Pulse Laser in the head.
There is a rumor that her 'Mech originally belonged to the 'Bounty Hunter' and she acquired it after killing its former legendary owner; Suì-Fēng refuses to comment on the validity of the story.

Mercenary Unit Affiliation:

Facts About This Person: Suì-Fēng rarely speaks, her silence and dark piercing eyes giving her an unnerving quality.
She is a diligent and takes her duties and responsibilities seriously, very seriously — she particularly believes in following orders and she expects her lance mates to have the same conviction. She is generally reserved and calm even in combat, though she is not above mocking her opponents or smirking while in combat. She will not hesitate in the slightest to strike down even her subordinates if they stand in her way.
She will push herself and her machine to the limit and beyond to complete her mission.

Xenolord

Nice character, Ghostraven. Was waiting for the obligatory Bleach character. Now, usually, I'd only allow a Guardian ECM to be mounted on a Light 'Mech, but... you chose a Marauder! I'll give you an exception, only because you chose my second favorite 'Mech ever. I'm just waiting for everyone else to get off their tooshes and give me characters, then I can give you all your acceptance letters.

Ghostraven

Thanks  :-)

A friend of mine who knows a lot more about battle Tech said that they will make up the sheet for the mech.

This is interesting. Count me in!

Character Sheet

Player Name: summoner2183

Character Name: Akihiko Sanada

Character's Origin: Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 / Persona 3: FES / Persona 3 Portable

Age: 23

Basic Description: Akihiko is leanly built person with silvery hair and brown eyes. He keeps it neatly trimmed all the time, and he is always stylishly dressed when he is outside his battlemech. He always has a calm but confident air around him.

Preferred Mech: Being a former member of the Draconis Combine, it is no secret that Akihiko still prefers to use Mechs that used to belong to the Combine. His absolute favorite was actually the No-Dachi, which he customized to his liking. He removed the MRM-20 launchers, replacing them with MRM-10s and then replaced the SRM-2 and SRM-4 launchers with the Streak versions. Due to the reduction in weight, he was able to add double heat sinks, and added a Guardian ECM Suite as well as some CASE units to better protect his unit. He also added two Medium Pulse Lasers to add on to his Mech's offensive capabilities, as well as upgrading the original Medium Laser to its Extended Range version.

Mercenary Unit Affiliation:

Facts about this person: Akihiko is still a bit sore with how his former family has treated him after his exile from the family. He doesn't hate all of Combine Society, he just feels that they are a bit too much on honor and family pride to see the small details. He still feels pride for being a Sanada though, even though his family has practically disowned him. That is evident by the symbol of the famous family logo of the Sanadas that adorned his mech. He doesn't speak much, but he is quite approachable despite his cool exterior that he projects sometimes. He is also quite friendly, and would gladly take up the role of the big brother of his lancemates, and he takes his job very seriously.

He likes to train a lot, sometimes being dubbed as a workaholic by some people. In combat, he likes to come up with a strategy to minimise the losses incurred by his lance and unit and maximise the damage they dish out to their foes.

Xenolord

You did good, Summoner, but I need pictures of both your character, and your 'Mech.

CirclMastr

Player Name: CirclMastr
Character Name: Sterling 'Duchess' Archer
Character's Origin: Archer TV series
Age: 35
Basic Description: Archer is a former (or is he?) secret agent whose illustrious career as "World's Deadliest Agent" got him quite accustomed to luxuries most people don't know exist (and also whores).  Now, he has to turn to mercenary work to bring in the c-bills.  His lack of experience with piloting 'Mechs isn't about to stop him from being supremely confident in his abilities.
Preferred 'Mech: True to his... eclectic style and spy background, Archer pilots an XNT-4O Xanthos quadrupedal 'Mech.  A trio of PPCs modified for extended range give him power at all engagement distances, and the 4O's stealth armor and jump jets fit his motif if not his flamboyant style.
Mercenary Unit Affiliation:
Personality: Arrogant, narcissistic, horny, and occasionally insightful, Archer is a bag of awesome filled of emotional issues.  He craves attention and will be the life of the mission, unless and until he faces something that triggers an emotional breakdown.  He deals with such things in the same manner as any talented secret agent and 'Mech pilot would: alcoholism.

Circl... I'd really try to avoid using Quad 'Mechs. They were always a gray area in the MechWarrior series but...

Tell you what, if you can get me a shot of the Xanthos, I'll consider it.

Not a big Quad 'Mech fan but... you can keep it. I'd like for everyone else to use Bipedal 'Mechs, however. For the simple reason they'd be easier to find or get.

I actually think I'm going to back out of this one, Xeno. The character I had in mind doesn't seem like he would fit in very well with what everyone else is picking, the lore and mechanics behind this universe seem a bit daunting, and I'm just not sure I have the time and energy to keep up with the RPs I currently have, let alone a new one.

Xenolord

I won't stop you. If you want to back out, be my guest. I admit, the BattleTech rules and lore are a bit... much. That's why I always prefer the video game's mechanics. Thank you anyway, Revenent.
