It is a dead thing.
Silent as a mouse,
Cold as a pebble,
Still as an undisturbed lake,
Lying there, alone, at a cold damp place,
Completely submerged in darkness.

The corpse is there, its limbs spread awkwardly, its eyelids cut and its eyes forever open- bound to the blindness of the dead. Several cuts and bruises cover its body, the flesh is torn, the blood is let, drip-drip-dripping from the tips of its mangled pieces, its mouth wide open in a voiceless scream, and right before rigor mortis sets in- its white and blood spattered hand lets a crumpled piece of parchment fall to the floor below.
Upon the cold and wet floor, the paper softens and unfolds, not unlike a sea anemone, so everybody- and nobody- could read:

"Dear friend,

Abyssal Wedding

There we go, so here is the jist. This is an interest check for a game that will be GMed by Kingmaster1 and myself.

What's Abyssal Wedding really about?

First and foremost, it's about the people, the wedding guests. About the groom and bride's friends and families, all invited regardless of their likeability, closeness or personality! If you've ever made a wedding reception's seating chart, you'd know- there is so much stuff going on! Long lived grudges, conflicts of opinions, clashing personalities, one-sided affections and SO many rumors, the likes of which you would only find amongst lifelong relatives and old-day friends- affairs, treacheries, unrequired loves, failed relationships/joint business adventures and so on and so forth!

So, there is a wedding, and it's being held on a luxurious underwater cruise on a world's first cruise submarine! The plan is ideal, take an eight-day cruise out to the ocean, gamble some, explore a beautiful deep-sea hidden reef and attend a magical wedding ceremony.

This is where the second aspect of the game starts, because- what happens when the submarine suddenly malfunctions, and the crew of the sub discover themselves to be without the means to resurface? What happens when corridors get flooded, and suddenly things like oxygen, heating and power become an issue? What happens when the guests are being separated into small groups and several mutilated bodies are discovered? Suddenly the same people, who only hours ago were cashing chips at the grand casino realize they're stranded in a submarine at the open sea, with at least one depraved psychopath on board.

How will we go about doing that?
Here are several ideas Kingmaster and I have come up with:

There are several murderers, not just one, and some of them can be YOUR characters. Basically, we're going to let you create your characters for the wedding guests, and then we'd approach some of you and offer you the position of a killer for the character that we saw fit. Needless to say, the people in charge of that violent murderous cult would be at our control.

Multiple characters for each player. Basically, this is a survival horror game, and we can't have a survival horror game when everyone survives, that takes the horror part out of the equation. On the other hand, nobody wants to have his/her character killed and be stricken out of the game, do they? So we want at least 2 characters of each player, as diverse and unrelated to one another as you'd like, and one of them might get killed. Point is, we want you to get attached to your characters; we want you to fear for them, so to make the need for survival a lot more real for you. So, yeah, we'll be setting a minimum requirement of 2 characters for each player, to a maximum of 5.

Elements you might encounter in this game:
N/C
Rough-Housing
Bondage
BDSM
Tentacles
Incest
Mind Control (not for sexual purposes)
Extreme Violence (not for sexual purposes)
Gore (not for sexual purposes)
Pain and Torture (not for sexual purposes)
Character Death (not for sexual purposes)

Barbarian

I don't know how often I can post for this, but I guess it would be around twice per week.

If that's cool, you got a Barbarian on board =)

Roen

Twice a week would work just fine, once might be a bit too slow to start with, Barbarian, would love to have you on board, should you manage that!

I'm currently working on the template for the Character sheet. There are still plenty of spots to go around! We're counting on at least three players for each side of the wedding. Remember, this might be a survival horror game, but it's all about character relationships, group dynamics, joint pasts etc, so cooperation between players will be a necessity!

This does look interesting.

1) Is the idea that the bride and the groom are NPCs, and we PCs are all tied to one or the other (or both) of them?

2) Except for the somewhat sci-fi-ish cruise submarine, is it safe to assume that this is pretty much a normal modern day setting with regards to technology, the supernatural and such? I understand, of course, that weirdness will ensue once disaster strikes.

3) To keep it simple and to encourage ties among players, are all of the PCs guests at the wedding (rather than crew members, stowaways, unrelated passengers, etc.)? (Not that it's a democracy, but that would be my preference.)

That's the idea, yes.

The game is set at about 2 years from now. A sci-fi-ish cruise submarine is as close as you're gonna get to a spaceship lost in space while staying moderately realistic, so yes. Sci-fi, yet still technologically attainable in the coming years, I think.

However, I would again want to point out that the murders are going to have a ritualistic vibe to them, and there might be a play of mind control and tentacles (which is as supernatural as this is going to go, in terms of what you can expect happening to your characters) at the later stages of the game. That said, all of your characters are normal humans, 98% of our NPCs are humans, this isn't a game for the vampires and the sparkles, you won't be seeing Aquaman riding a dolphin outside your cabin's window *grins*. The setting is a pseudo-modern-day setting for the majority of the game, and you are encouraged to play it as if it was a pure realistic game. The reason why I'm typing so extensively on the subject, is that I'd like to be as precise about this as I can, as to what you should expect of the game, without giving any spoilers.

Yes, but there's a loophole. The groom is working at the company that designed that submarine, there's a prototype deal going on, and the bride has been consulting on the project, so there can be submarine employees that are on the guest list as well. The short answer to your question is yes, all of the PCs should be on the guest list.

Hello E friends. For those who've role played with me, I disappeared for a while due to lack of access to a computer and personal issues. Life has calmed down and I now have access to E and inspiration has struck me again. :)

IDK- when you are taking characters, but I want mine up before I go to bed :)

Character Name: Gemma Marie Knightly
Alter Side: Bride
Relation to the Groom/Bride: 1st Cousin to the bride.
Age: 22 years old
Occupation: Works as a designers assistant
Known Character Background: She's the single cousin who has probably accidentally broken a few hearts because she is career driven as much as she wishes she found the perfect guy to ask her to marry her. She sometimes seems like she doesn't care for love but she's a hopeless romantic and loves weddings.
Sexuality: She is straight. Doesn't mind a little spicing up though here and there for fun.
Personality: She is outgoing, enjoys dancing and loves food. People say she's intimidating but she doesn't understand why because she thinks she's awkward, silly, and fun.
Notable Relationship and/or Past Interactions: Has a bad relationship with a fellow cousin (not the bride) since she broke up with his best friend back in college. She doesn't mean to, it just happened. After all- he cheated on her! But hey, bros before... well, you know. (more to come as characters come along?)

Player Section: *there is no need to include this section on each of the multiple character sheets*-I don't understand?
Player's Interest in Playing a Murderer: No OR MAYBE
Red Lines: No tentacle or inhuman playing unless the character looks human and is using human body parts. No body modification (I don't choose pictures of a character that I want to change her looks!), no sort of water sports or anything like that. If it's meant to go in the trash or a toilet- I don't want to know about anything else. Hm... that's really it.

ill be working on a character here shortly, maybe tomorrow.

but I have a question, would the groom (or bride) have any military ties?
I was thinking about doing an old navy buddy, one who is in the actual bridal party.

The bride/groom don't have any military ties. However, he can be a friend of the bride/family of the bride, since before his service at the navy.

Sansa, that character shows some promise, hopefully we'd be able to flesh its sheet out through our OOC discussions (:
Keep in mind that each player is expected to play a minimum of 2 characters.

Edit:
Update!

Added a LGBT friendly tag. Not to say that this is an LGBT oriented game, but to better clarify that this game welcomes all. It has been my impression that LGBT oriented players on this site feel less than encouraged to seek that kind of content on group games, simply because the personal preferences don't usually match. So, here is to let everyone know that we will do our best to make room for and service all *grins*, by creating suitable NPCs and encouraging our interested players to do the same.

Interested, very --- very --- interested.

Would it be alright to maybe play the bride's nephew whom has possibly been getting.... more than felt up by his new Uncle?  As one of my characters that is?

If by new uncle you mean the groom, then I don't see it happening, man, sorry. Doesn't fit the character of the groom.

Well originally that is where I got the idea. [ I haven't seen a character for the groom, so I wouldn't know. ]

However honestly now that I think about it, the person getting a bit handsy with him doesn't need to be the groom. As long as it's some form of relation, taboo. It's just a little more fun if it is the groom. :]

Well...by marriage :P

So maybe nephew of the bride or groom x the groom's dad? Which would make him kind of the nephew's almost-sort-of grandpa-like figure? o.O Could be hot, but I don't think anyone would be willing to play him.
