Problem is groups like Al Qaida operate in Cells, its not like fighting a larger army. If you take out the leader of one Cell the rest of them are operating just fine.

Yah its basically why i kind of always feel like saying you got some sort of leader almost pointless. The worse thing about this kind of war is in general the west is not prepared for the kind of war that would be needed, and honestly i find the idea of it personally distasteful. It always sucks when you have to fight with people whos basic ideology is one that promises reward after death and who in essence have very little to loose.

And then these "leaders" just dig up some more impressionable desperate people.

I honestly feel like a financial war would be much more effective, i am almost afraid* that Russia might just get sufficiently pissed off and do it the old fashioned way

Not that taking out senior figures like this is entirely useless, though. While terrorist groups are cell-based at the local level, they do depend on higher tiers of leadership to coordinate the resources of the group as a whole. Taking out someone higher in the food chain forces everyone downstream of them back on purely local assets, which in turn can limit the damage they're capable of until the dead guy gets replaced.

I think the importance of the leadership depends, to some degree, on how much emphasis the group in question places on that position. Take ISIS, for example. They claim to fulfill some ancient prophecy (to sum it up very loosly). The way they tell it they are not just a caliphate, they are the caliphate of ancient prophecy. But a caliphate needs a caliph. Taking out their leader might actually convince some of their followers that they are not what they claim to be. With Al Quaeda it might not matter all that much, but if we were talking about ISIS it might put a serious dent into their propaganda.

To be fair ive never been pleased with how sports uses Natives.

Especialy since the word "Redskin" is a racial slur. Whenever I brought it up people always told me "You just don't get sports" or "They didn't have a problem with it before, why do you?"
