OK, I'm not sure if I will regret this, but since I brought this up previously, here goes.

Before you read on, just bear in mind apart from some basics, you DON'T have to read it all. In fact the rules are written for play covering from L1 to L11, and arguably for L12 onwards, so it is a lot and most do not apply or are irrelevant to Level 1 Characters.

As long as you post up your L1 character to any detail here, I will vet through and tell you if something is not in order.

PATHFINDER SERIES

This to be a series of Pathfinder Scenario Adventures, starting with the Confirmation.

The next adventure will be a scenario, probably First Steps as an introduction to the Pathfinder Society. Fluff wise, you will be members of the Society.

At the end of the run you will be a level 2 character with 5 XP, and 1 scenario / 1 XP away from level 3.

The series will essentially be run using Pathfinder Society rules, but I will not need you to refer to pdfs or download stuff from paizo.com. That said, you can if you wish to.

CHARACTER CREATION

Level : 1

Stats : 20 Point Buy. Purchased stat must be 7-18 before racial bonuses.

Gold: Each character has 150 gp to purchase what you like.

Inter Player Purchases:
- You may pool funds to buy an item or service, but it belongs to only 1 person
- You may not give gold permanently to another player
- The GM will not enforce refunds, borrowing or other gold agreements players make among themselves

Alignment:
- No evil characters
- You will not PvP against your fellow party members
- You will not attack Questgivers no matter how annoying they are

Deities:
- Within one alignment step from your character. Ie an LN char can worship an LG LN TN or LE deity.
- The deity must also be legal for PFS play, see those with the PFS Logo listed here - http://archivesofnethys.com/DeitiesByGroup.aspx
( if in doubt, just stick to Core pantheon )

Classes, Class Features, Archetypes, Feats, Items, Spells, Special Materials, etc:
- see those with PFS logo here http://archivesofnethys.com/Default.aspx. Exclude Mythic Index and Technology.
- APG Summoner is not allowed, but Unchained Summoner is fine. Note that many Summoner archetypes are not legal for play.
- All Wizards have Spell Focus instead of Scribe Scroll as a free feat.
- Non Gunslingers may not use guns. Even so, only early firearms are allowed.
- Medium class is NOT allowed, even though legal for PFS play.
- the following spells are never available in any form : awaken, permanency and reincarnate
- purchased wands/rods/staves are fully charged with 50 charges (rods and staves have less than 50 charges)
- you may only buy scrolls/wands of the minimum caster level.
- ammunition must be bought in full lots, ie typically 10 or 20 for mundane ammunition and 50 for magical ammunition
- no level 7 or higher spell scrolls may be bought or learnt, unless you get it from a chronicle sheet

Chronicle Sheets
- Chronicle Sheets list the items you have found in an adventure
- in a normal adventure, each item appears once, and only one player may get it. That is not so good for group play, so essentially, at the end of an adventure, you get gold as if you had liquidated ALL the items you found
- you may then spend gold to buy the items on your Chronicle Sheet, of a suitable size etc as well (if you are small)
- no matter the limitations of above sections or your Fame, you can always spend gold to buy items on your chronicle sheet (based on your tier) between scenarios

Allowed Races :
- Core races like dwarf, elf, gnome, halfling, half-elf, half-orc, human
- plus Ifrit, kitsune, nagaji, oread, sylph, tengu, undine, and wayang

Racial Traits / Favored Class Bonuses :
As per legal for PFS play in here. Naturally you can only take traits from your own race.

Yes its a LOT of traits. I have a list below of some favourites just to get you started without being overwhelmed.

Pets/Mounts :
- You may have a max of 1 combat companion (animal companion, eidolon, familiar, spirit, etc).
- It can serve as a mount if you wish and are of the appropriate size.
- If you already have 1 combat companion, you may have a separate mount, but it may never make any attacks for any reason. This "extra" mount must be either a pony or horse, no exceptions.
- if you ride a mount / combat companion, please make sure it is combat trained, or you will be subject to restrictions as per the Ride skill (you must spend a Move action to make a Ride check or lose your turn)
- note that combat trained horses (large) and ponies (medium) cost more than non combat trained ones
- if a spell (eg Mount spell) does not explicitly state a mount is combat trained, then it is not

PRESTIGE, FAME, DAY JOB & CRAFTING

Prestige Points (PP)
- depending on how well you achieve the objectives of the Society, you gain either 0, 1 or 2 PP at the end of a scenario, and double that for a module
- PP is an expendible resource and can be used to pay for goods and services outside of a scenario. It is also used as a form of measure/currency for days spent outside an adventure
- the more common usage for PP at low levels is spend 1 PP to purchase one item of 150 gp or less, or 2 PP for 750 gp or less. This purchase may only be done once between each scenario, and all items bought with PP can never be sold for gold.
- PP may also be used for the following spellcasting services while in a suitably large settlement (GM decides). Note that they are spellcasting services, NOT scrolls.
- 1PP: Dispel Magic, Make Whole, Lesser Restoration, Remove Blindness/Deafness, Remove Curse, Remove Disease, Remove Paralysis
- 2PP: Break Enchantment, Greater Dispel, Heal, Neutralize Poison, Restoration (4PP to remove a permanent Negative Level)
- 3PP: Regenerate
- 16PP: Raise Dead, Greater Restoration
- 32PP: Resurrection
- 77PP: True Resurrection
- You may also spend 5PP to have your body recovered by a Rescue Team

Fame
- Fame is simply the sum total of all the PP your character has ever earned. Fame is never used and never expended.
- Fame measures how well-known you are, for purposes of accessing certain benefits. For Pathfinder Society play, there are factions, but that does not mean much at L1.
- Fame also measures who you know and who knows you. More potent items and other services (such as high level spell scrolls) become accessible when you have Fame. Without Fame, you may have the gold, but no one to sell you what you want (apart from what is in your Chronicle Sheet)
- Note that without gold, Fame is also nothing. Sure, you can buy very valuable items, but you can't afford to buy it, means you don't have it.
- The following lists the Fame required and Max Item Cost

18: 5,250 gp
22: 8,000 gp
27: 11,750 gp
31: 16,500 gp

- Note that in spite of above, the following items are always available : All mundane weapons, armor, equipment and alchemical gear, up to Masterwork or +1 enchantment / Scrolls, Potions, Oils, Wands of 0th or 1st level spells / Any item that is purchased with PPs.

Day Job Checks
- after each adventure you may make one Day Job check that reflects how well your character does at his "Day Job" when not adventuring between scenarios
- the check is done over one full day, so any bonus that does not last at least 1 continuous day cannot be applied
- a Day Job check uses either a Craft (Int), Profession (Wis), Perform (Cha) check. As per normal rules, these checks cannot be done untrained.
- you may take 10 on these checks if you dont wish to roll
- the gold earned from your Day Job is added to the gold earned from the scenario
- the roll outcome is as follows
DC 5 : 1 gp
DC 10 : 5 gp
DC 15 : 10 gp
DC 20 : 20 gp
DC 25 : 50 gp
DC 30 : 75 gp
DC 35 : 100 gp
DC 40 : 150 gp

Craft (Alchemy)
- if you have ranks in Craft (Alchemy), you may buy Alchemical items at cost, ie 50% price

Craft (Gunsmithing) works as per the the Gunsmithing feat. It can be used for normal day job check but thats it.

Craft (Something Else)
- This differs from PFS rules, and disregards normal crafting rules
- You may not craft nor enchant magical items
- You can craft using Special Materials, but only if they are legal for PFS play
- For purpose of this game, Craft Weapon will be treated as a different skill from Craft Armor. Since thats usually what adventurers craft anyway.
- You may not craft an Item that you cannot buy
- All Crafting lets you buy items you can craft at a discount, but you need time to craft. The crafting discount never works with any other discount.
- To represent the time you spend, you must spend 1 PP per day of crafting, which grants you a stacking 100 gp discount per PP spent. The total discount may not exceed 50% of the crafted item value.
- You may spend any number of PP per adventure in this way, as long as you have enough PP
- You may give up a Day Job check to spend the time crafting. This increases the effectiveness of up to 2 PP you spend, so that the discount per PP spent is up to 150 gp

Example

- Rey has Craft (Armor), 6 PP and wants to get a +1 Mithral Chainshirt worth 2,100 gp after a scenario.
- Although she cannot enchant the item, she can craft the Mithral Chainshirt worth 1,100 gp then get it enchanted by spending an extra 1,000 gp.
- Since the item is worth 1,100 gp, the max crafting discount is 550 gp. This means even if she spends all 6 PP supposedly for a 600 gp discount, she only gets a 550 gp discount

- Rey decides not to do her Day Job Check after the scenario to focus on crafting (and probably because she cant earn over 100 gp with her Day Job), so the first 2PP she spends grants her 150 gp discount each, total of 300 gp for 2PP. Then she decides to spend 2 more PP for 500 gp discount
- Her total amount spent is then 1,600 gp and 4PP instead of 2,100 gp.

- If Rey so chooses, she can just forgo her Day Job and spend 2PP for a 300 gp discount, and leave the Mithral Chainshirt unfinished. It remains unpurchased and while she has a discount, she has not yet spent any gp
- if she changes her mind about the purchase, the forgone Day Job and 2PP is not refunded.
- after the next scenario, she can forgo her Day Job and spend another 2PP for another 300 gp discount. Since the discount is capped at 550, she can then obtain the +1 Mithral Chainshirt for 1550 gp (and 4PP already spent)

TRAIT QUICK LIST

Yes there are a LOT of traits to go through without a reference. Here are some quick choices, but do remember you must pick two traits from TWO different categories. So if you want to take Reactionary with Deft Dodger, that's not allowed.

Basic (Combat)
- Armor Expert: You reduce armor penalty by 1, to a minimum of 0
- Deft Dodger: +1 trait bonus to Reflex
- Reactionary: +2 trait bonus to initiative
- Resilient: +1 trait bonus to Fortitude

Basic (Faith)
- Indomitable Will : +1 trait bonus to Will
- Irrepressible: You can use your Charisma modifier in place of your Wisdom modifier when attempting Will saving throws against charm and compulsion effects.
- Fate's Favored: Whenever you are under the effect of a luck bonus of any kind, that bonus increases by 1. (Some races have luck bonuses)

Basic (Magic)
- Gifted Adept: Pick one spell when you choose this trait from this point on, whenever you cast that spell, its effects manifest at +1 caster level.
- Magical Knack: Pick a class when you gain this trait. Your caster level in that class gains a +2 trait bonus as long as this bonus doesn't raise your caster level above your current Hit Dice. (Not useful for Level 1 games)
- Magical Lineage: When you apply metamagic feats to this spell that add at least 1 level to the spell, treat its actual level as 1 lower for determining the spell's final adjusted level. (Not useful for Level 1 games)
- Overwhelming Beauty: The DC of your mind-affecting effects increases by 1 against creatures that have at least one of the same subtypes as you.

Basic (Social)
- Charming: You gain a +1 trait bonus when you use Bluff or Diplomacy on a character that is (or could be) sexually attracted to you, and a +1 trait bonus to the save DC of any language-dependent spell you cast on such characters or creatures.

Equipment
- Heirloom Weapon: You carry a non-masterwork simple or martial weapon that has been passed down from generation to generation in your family (pay the standard gp cost for the weapon). When you select this trait, choose one of the following benefits: proficiency with that specific weapon, a +1 trait bonus on attacks of opportunity with that specific weapon, or a +2 trait bonus on one kind of combat maneuver when using that specific weapon

Region
- Brevoy Bandit / Requirements: lived in Mivon
Choose one Profession skill and one ability score other than Wisdom. You add that ability score's modifier in addition to your Wisdom modifier on checks with the chosen Profession skill.
- Precocious Spellcaster / Requirements: lived in Taldor
Select one cantrip and one 1st-level spell; when you cast these spells, they function at one caster level higher than your actual caster level.
- Wayang Spellhunter / Requirements: lived in Minata
Select a spell of 3rd level or below. When you use this spell with a metamagic feat, it uses up a spell slot one level lower than it normally would.

Religion
- Defensive Strategist / Requirements: worship Torag
You aren't flat-footed during a surprise round that you don't get to act in or before you get to act at the start of a battle.

FAQ
This list may be updated as is appropriate.

1. Do I need a PFS ID?
Ans: No

2. I want to play a class that requires me to be an evil alignment, is that ok?
Ans: No

3. I found an archetype/class/feat/whatever that is legal for PFS play according to Additional Resources on Paizo.com, but isnt on the archives of nethys site / isnt listed as legal. Can I play it?
Ans: No. Yes. However no boons etc may be applied, just treat as a vanilla classic character.

4. I have an L1 / L2 PFS character, can I use it?
Ans: No. You would have more gear/ items than the others, and at L2 be considerably stronger.

5. Can I play one of the newer classes, like maybe Vigilante/ Spiritualist/ Occultist/ Kineticist / whatever?
Ans: Yes, but only if it is not Medium and allowed under PFS rules.

6. Can I use skill unlocks as per Pathfinder Unchained?
Ans: No. Yes but only if you are an Unchained Rogue with the requisite feature, which isnt available at L1. Hence No.

7. Is this run as per the PDF of the scenario?
Ans: Yes, best effort basis.

8. I read the PDF / played the scenario before. Can I act on what I know?
Ans: Since this is an evergreen, Yes, but never to the extent of upsetting any of your fellow players. Everyone should have fun, thats what collaborative cooperative gaming is about.
If it is not an evergreen, then No.

9. I want to play a non LG Paladin!
Ans: Not for this run. Recommend you try either 5E or 4E.

10. Will gold / consumables be tracked?
Ans: Yes and No.

Whatever you spend and use during this adventure will be tracked and deducted from your gold when you play the next adventure.
However, you can sell back all your gear at full value (not 50%) in between the 3 adventures. This is the full value of what you paid, ie if you bought something at 90% value, you sell it back at 90% value.

This has 2 intended effects
- do NOT underprepare. If you think you can't deal with something, pay for a consumable that might cover your class weakness
- try out different classes, one for each adventure. Dont let the gear difference stand in your way.

Ideally, you bring the same character for all the 3 games, but I can understand if you wish to tweak or change class completely. It is certainly a lot more immersive if you roleplay the same character from start to finish.

Note that at Level 2, you can no longer sell back at full value, sales are at 50% of item value, and your classes etc becomes fixed. Of course, we may not make it that far.

11. When do we level up anyway?
Ans: You gain 1 XP per scenario or 3 XP per module completed/ survived. You level up for every 3 XP you have, at the end of the adventure.

12. So where's all the kinky stuff going to happen?
Ans: This is a vanilla run close to the scenario. If all the players agree on a kinky run, then it can be a kinky run. If all the players agree that it is armor/clothing as HP, then it will be armor/clothing as HP. If all the players want the enemies to be all male or all female, that also can be arranged. It really depends on a unanimous decision.

13. So what is armor/clothing as HP?
Ans: Think of enemies slashing away/ blasting away your clothes/armor, effectively exposing your character as they go. This doesnt change your AC values or whatever, it is simply funny fluff. Note that it tends to be jarring if others dont like the idea, eg if enemies are actually injuring your allies but are stripping you, it can get weird very quickly.

14. So what is Freeform?
Ans: Freeform means the attacker rolls attack on damage, but the defender describes what happens to him/her.

15. What is a combat script?
Ans: A combat script is a general given idea how to run a character. This will allow the GM or another player to take control of your character and move things along when you are away for foreseen or unforeseen reasons.

16. So what is it you need?
Ans: Please provide following

Ans: 3-4 would be the most ideal number, but I am open to running two groups as long as they are at least 3 each.

Ans: Generally, yes. Some fights are randomized, but yes it can be spoiler-ish if you are following the first thread of the same game.

It's the standard racial language options, plus Linguistics, plus human ethnic languages for those who belong to that ethnicity (i.e., Ulfens know Skald, Mwangi know Polyglot, Kellids know Hallit) correct? I would assume the standard languages are off-limits (like Druidic for non-druids, or whatever the undead language is, I forget.)

Anyway, someone in the original thread really wanted to pick up Cleric, so i suppose I'll let them have it.  ;D Right now I'm kinda eyeballing a Tengu Witch or my usual Halfling rogue. I gotta say, it's nice to have a framework to build around like "being a pathfinder initiate"

Clerics are multivaried and powerful enough to be completely different, especially at L1 where BAB isn't much of an issue (except for the accursed action to draw weapon). To consider a Pathfinder Cleric a heal bot is very misleading.

More clerics are always good.  And rogues too (which I'm playing).  Teamwork = extra stabby stabby!

And I was planning on making a hedge witch but will consider another option as well just in case, though guess if two rogues is an option two witches could be another as well ^^

Simple Backstory:

Shirin is the third of five daughters, heiress to a long line of powerful Taldan sorcerers whose family has fell on hard times financially. Knowing that the alternative was to be married off as a pawn in power bargains, she sweet-talked her parents into allowing her to leave for a life of adventure, evoking lost treasures and forgotten secrets left in the family's holdings -- once spread all around the continent -- that would restore it to former glory if only they could be found. Thus it was that the young sorceress presented herself before the Grand Lodge to be appraised.

Shirin is charming and attractive, but also proud and headstrong, ready to respond to insults on her family's honor. She insists on dressing in the fine fabrics and ornate jewllery due her station, although her family's weakened finances mean that she can afford only scant clothing, and she is frequently embarrassed at the sexual attention her skimpy attire attracts. She has a thirst for novelty and the exotic, and a passion for the finer things in life which she cannot afford but feels are her birthright. Born into her family's decline, Shirin's learned to use her charms and good looks to effect to get what she wants. She considers herself civilized, and prefers witty zings to overt anger and subtle plots to barbarous violence.

Simple Backstory:

Quick witted and silver-tongued, Sebastian wants nothing more than to learn secrets, whether of the past or the person next to him.  Almost eager to meet knew people and with little desire to keep lasting attachments, Sebastian isn't one who keeps many people close, but those who do get close stay there for ages.  Very much a jack-of-all-trades, his braggart nature forces him to learn and become proficient in many things.

Although he does enjoy luxury and drink, he's not one who dress in those styles, instead preferring simple and functional clothing that will likely survive crawling and climbing his way into the next trove of knowledge.  He's a lighthearted and pleasant fellow to be around and, given his way with words and how he can craft a story, few tend to pass up a chance to hear of some adventure that probably is more myth than fact.

Curiously enough I'd like to do my Lust made again if you'd allow Thassalonian Specialists but I'd understand if it is (to do that in real PFS requires a boon and she started with several boons tat would mean anything I made would be different.

I'm still scratching my head when it comes to race.    I'll need both a high wisdom and high charisma, and there's not really one there that gives a bonus to both.   I'm leaning half-elf but I'd like to ideally steer away from the core races.

As far as I know, it isn't.    I'm definitely doing a spellcaster build.     (And it took way to long to find a picture that was close....)

I realize this wasnt clear, but it is worth a discussion
- in Armor/Clothing as HP when attacking the Player Chars, would you all want to standardize to playing female chars against male enemies? Im not sure though, if youre LGBT and like seeing your male char denuded, then thats fine by me.
- alternatively, do you mean Armor/Clothing as HP when attacking NPC chars? In which case running an all female NPC cast makes sense... except in many scenarios they are monsters of various stripes (esp Confirmation. Consortium Compact are mostly humanoids)

Would be good if you specified what youre gunning for ;) we coild even split two groups, so all male party who exposes female NPCs could go for Cons Compact, and all female party who gets exposed can do Confirmation.

Well that would be one more naked woman in an AoE situation :) but seriously, I dont think these scenarios will have that sort of mass threat. As for playing a female, just do as you think a normal fem would - be outraged, upset, embarrassed, whatever.

Then again, youre playing a Callistrian...  O:)

Separately, dont change gender just yet. Lets see what others build.

I wanted to write this down while I was thinking about it.    Rather than have armor per se, instead give a character an armor bonus based on their existing armor feats: perhaps 2 points per feat level (light, medium, heavy).   So the fighter running around in the thong bikini (or stripper outfit) would still have a +6 armor bonus.  It would also eliminate the need for armor repair, as a bonus.

Done. I also bought my human extra feat and spent all my money. :D

I am fine with armor/clothing as HP damage both when being attacked, and when attacking.

On second thought I changed my background a bit. I think if I'm going to play a character in a game where defeat by modesty is a thing, I need to play someone who's less shameless and will actually get embarrassed. So I edited my brief background so that Shirin's noble family has fell on hard times, she's adventuring to find the lost relics of her house, and her skimpy outfit is because her family doesn't have the wealth to afford much fine textiles anymore.

Fey - thats a terrific change that makes sense too :)

Dont worry about all the details if its tiresome, but dont shortchange yourselves either. I am particular on HP because itd a really big deal at L1, and significant later on also.

If youre not sure what to buy with 150 gp, you can have say 50 gp on hand, hear the mission from the NPC then buy before starting your mission prefer.

I'm good with Additional Resources and Campaign clarifications. The scenarios are reasonably challenging I suppose, and will probably not be a cakewalk, poor rolls and metagaming aside.

I'm all right with using Pathfinder Society Field Guide materials. The reason why I'm not starting the players out with factions is because I may do an altered / extended First Steps to introduce them to some of the factions within the Pathfinder Society so the players can RP joining them. That said, for those already familiar with PFS rules, you can start as a member of one of the factions, that's fine.

For example I haven't played my GS5/Alchemist 6 for 3 years in hopes of killing her old faction leader..she has a MW Adamantine Railgun round JUSt for him..:)

I probably wouldn't do faction missions in a fun way, and in fact quite a few of them are rather unfun. Many of the earlier factions are no longer around nor available, anyway.

That said, I do intend for there to be some characterisation and extra NPCs and factions in First Steps. While I may not take faction missions very seriously in a normal game, I think at the very least players should have some idea who they might be working for and what is important to them, before joining and getting the benefits of joining.

Personally, all 16 of my registered IDs (of which only about 8 are characters) are from the Exchange faction. Lol.

Edit: as an aside, there are Scenarios where one or two particular faction missions are exceptionally relevant or resonate well. It would be well to make it available to all players, not just those who belong to that faction, even if the benefits mainly accrue with those from that faction.

"A witch must commune with her familiar each day to prepare her spells. Familiars store all of the spells that a witch knows, and a witch cannot prepare a spell that is not stored by her familiar. So you may wish to list spells learnt and spells memorised. Your L1 spells known should be 8 (3+5Int) unless Hedge Witch modifies it somehow.

For spells memorised, do kiv that Int20 (as opposed to Int18) grants two bonus L1 spell slots.

By the way it is not clear to me at what level the hedge gains spontaneous healing, it replaces the level 4 hex but it doesn't specify this ability is gained at level 4, it doesn't say at level 1 either but it seems to me there other archetypes that give new abilities at different level than those they replace so I rather ask.

If it doesn't specify, then you get the ability whenever you choose the archetype (which in the case of the hedge witch can be any level between 1 and 4)

Alchemists are one of the great 'utility' classes.

I enjoy both of my grenadier alchemists greatly.. 'Runt' my sole elf.. is creeping up on 9th and has turned from the 'Hawkeye' of the party with all sorts of speciality arrows curtesy of Explosive Missile and Infused Alchemical weapons into a giant chainsaw wielding feind.

Indeed they are.  I had a Strix musket master/alchemist in a rather short lived Skull and Shackles campaign.  Which died rather quickly when he started dropping kegs filled with a combination of gunpowder and musket balls on enemy ships....

Picture this as a single shot..
Large Elf with mutagen and Bulls strength  and an adaptive bow ( str 24ish) with an adaptive bow, large gravity bowed arrow...
With a 5d6+5 bomb (explosive missile)
And a 2d4 holy water/ 3d6 slime grenade (courtesy of hybridization funnel)

Now you know why the GMs hate him

The hard part is presenting everything fairly and concisely. Like pointing out to the GM my to hit goes down due to enlarge and such

Theres some pretty crazy stuff available that can cover your bases at higher levels or even L1.

A mundane equipment that lets you draw a wand as a swift action, to a consumable that works in such a way that if an enemy reduces me to negative Constitution (ie dead), and if it is my turn after the enemy, without intervention of any party member I can probably act normally, likely full attack.

Pick classes for what they can do. At some point party balance isn't super critical, and while a good tank is always helpful, unless he is actually dangerous, he can easily be ignored.
