Hello everyone. We have gotten sick and tired of the apartment complex we are current residing in and found a home to rent. We are getting out of our lease due to the complex failing to fix safety issues in the apartment and with JAGs help can legally break it. Now we are in the process of moving into a four bedroom home across town and I am in a panic worrying about not doing something I have to do.

I will transfer utilities, forward mail, clean apartment, getting houses sprayed before we get there and making sure all issues with the house are addressed and fix before we fully move in. Am I forgetting anything?

Sorry to spill the beans on my problem I just never moved to a house and do no know what I need to do in order to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Thank you.

As someone who had to do the same a few years back, I would suggest two things:

1. Stairs take time and effort. They give a good workout, but I'm already wishing I could have everything on the same level again. Make sure you have phones upstairs and downstairs (it's impossible to move to another floor fast enough to answer it), and a loud doorbell, or you risk not hearing someone knocking if you are upstairs.

2. If you have a garden, figure out ahead of time what you want/are allowed to do with it. Lawns and plants need maintenance. A patio would be more convenient if there are no children involved.
To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

Thanks Lilias. It did not even occur to me about the phone, I have a one year old and will be watching two other toddlers for a PNC student at the local hospital so having it on both floors is a plus. I have given up on my cellphone as the only form of communication because it gets taken by the kids and put somewhere that they cannot remember where they put it...they ALWAYS cannot remember where they put it...

I live in El Paso and rarely see grass at all..the thought of a garden never occurred to me but it is something I should consider because the tax on everything is killing me down here....hmmm...now I have something to research.

Thankies!!! *hugs*
