Interest Check: Space Shenanigans of the Stupidly Rich

This would be a smutty space opera in the Third Imperium setting of the various incarnations of the Traveller SF RPG. We could use some version of the Traveller rules straight up, strip the rules down for ease of play (and especially ease of character creation), or just use the setting and go freeform.

A youngish member of the Imperial high nobility borrows one of Daddy's starships for a year-long interstellar joyride. With him or her are a number of rich ne'er-do-well friends, a couple of servants, and the ship's hard-working crew. Where will they go? What will they see? How will they pass the time while the ship is isolated in jumpspace?

I'm volunteering to GM, and probably play the ship's captain as well (that's the head of the crew, not the noble whose starship it is—I expect that role to be taken by a player). Between passengers, servants and crew, the game could easily take a dozen players, or could run with only three or four. I'm expecting mostly humans, but a few aliens or genetically modified humans are possible as well, within the constraints of the Third Imperium setting.

In any case, sign me up for a female bounty hunter that the rich kids like to hang out with so they can feel edgy and cool being around someone that kills for a living. Naturally, I would be bidding my time for a chance to kidnap one of them for a ransom, but for the time being I can handle telling them some of my glory days roughing it across the universe and fucking some of the more cute ones out of boredom.

That and I can show them to the more "interesting" planets where decent hard working people would never go to.

This is just an interest check—I'll start thinking about that when I have enough prospective players to make it worthwhile :)

There is one ginormohuge plot motivator built into the setting if we run it in the right historical era, namely the Rebellion—the rich kids could be caught on the wrong side of a faction line, have to run blockades, evade space battles, etc., or even buy a letter of marque and sign up as privateers for one of the factions. But there are infinite possibilities besides that.

Sure! There are plenty of shady bounty hunters and other freelance operatives in the Imperium, and I don't see why one of our filthy-rich passengers couldn't have picked one up in their entourage. Alternatively, you might be aboard the ship undercover as a crewmember, and start fraternizing with the passengers against the Captain's orders with a kidnap plot in mind. All kinds of ways to make it work.

One thing for everyone to keep in mind, though: there just isn't room aboard the kind of small space yacht I have in mind for every one of the passengers to have a bunch of hangers-on. When I said one or two servants, I meant for the whole group. Bodyguards, etc., count as servants in this case.

The alternative to that would be to recast it as one noble and his/her whole entourage. That would be a different sort of game than what I originally proposed—I'd probably have to play the noble, in order to prevent whichever player had that character from totally stealing the limelight—but it could be made to work.

Nah I was going with the angle of being on the ship due to the rich kid wanting me around to show off and brag to his friends. I would dutifully play the part, teasing the youths with sex and other raunchy acts and maybe pretending to shoot them a few times, just to scare them a tad. Bragging about how much of a stud my patron is in the sack and teaching him all sorts of sexual techniques that I've picked up in all the wrong places.

Would the yacht be big enough to hold my own even smaller bounty hunter ship on board? That is nothing more than a engine and cockpit/bedroom. Think firefly and that shuttle that Malcolm rented out to that companion whore.

It definitely wouldn't be big enough to carry another ship with jump drive. It might be built or refitted to carry a small in-system spacecraft (what's called a "small craft" in Traveller terms), but that would be an unusual feature for a yacht. It could certainly carry a high-speed shuttle, something that could get from planetary orbit to surface and back.

I just did a Google Image Search for "sexy science fiction woman with gun" and got some decent images (though you have to sift the wheat from the chaff, as usual). Top contender IMO is this:

Seems as though people are more interested in playing servants or companions of the very rich than are interested in playing the rich nobles themselves. That doesn't really fit with the idea I had in mind.

I'm probably not going to go with this game unless more people show up wanting to play the rich nobles as PCs.

Hmm well if you dont mind a Noble women who puts on a good face but at the end of the day she is a subsmissive through and through   who also has a dirty secret that some might use as leverage to get her to do " favors" for them if the discover her secret persona in the porn industry because she can be the sexually free subsimissive that she truly is and let that rigid mask of the strong noble women down. Ill be okay with that i jsut want to be a sub thats the most important part for me.

I won't lie to you, I never participated in a long term Group RP so... maybe I will be part of the X players leaving the boat after 1 or 2 months but... I'd like to try as a male human noble.
A kind and noble one absolutely useless with a weapon but, if it's possible and not super rare in this universe (I don't know it, I just read what you linked), a psi user ? I don't even know what they can do.
On a more smexy note, my character would be bi sexual and dominant in bed.

By the way, can you be more precise about the size and the shape of the ship ? Do you have a drawing or an illustration showing how the rooms are arranged ?

Psionics are known in the Third Imperium, and illegal as hell. That said, there are always people who find advantage in something illegal.

Not going to invest time in drawing a deck plan until I know how many passengers I have :)

It will be a small ship as starships in Traveller go, 200 or 300 dt probably (yeah, I know, meaningless; suffice to say you can't get much smaller than that and still have a jump drive). At a rough guess, a crew of 6 or fewer, at least 5 luxury staterooms for passengers and some less luxurious ones for crew and servants. Most likely there will be one passenger deck containing all the luxury quarters and some or all of the servants' quarters, with other deck(s) dedicated to crew functions, ship's systems, a small cargo hold, etc.
