2 Years ago the world ended in a plague of death, blood and fear. The dead began to walk and feast upon the living. The undead began to starve and return to death but almost all of mankind was gone.

Despite everything, a young woman was determined to not let it devastate her life. She would learn to adapt and live in this new lonely world. Phoebe took a deep breath and dashed across the street. Once on the other side, she leaned against a wall with her gun in hand. At first doing this every day was exhausting, but she got used to traveling like that. Always looking over her shoulder. Inside her thick Jacket a young baboon clung to her. His mother had died a few months ago and had no choice but to care for it. However, she had things to take care of. Her only choice was to bring him along. It wasn't a burden. In fact it was comforting to know that there was other life besides her own. There was a gasoline station a couple of blocks away and she needed some more supplies.

[Sorry for the late reply, RL got in the way... that and my brother ¬_¬]

The streets were empty, silent, desolate. The crumbling buildings stood silent as if in mourning, except the occasional sorrowful moan as the winds howled through there hollowed core. The road was covered with a scattering of cars, discarded, raided, burnt out. The entire city held an air of death, of loneliness.

The gas station stood surrounded by a number of tightly crowded buildings, its walls were cracked with age and disrepair, the pumps rusted and decayed. Inside the building, moving amongst the tattered and barren shelves was a figure, something human in shape but barely moving, hidden in the cool shadows that the roof provided.

Rygarr

A man with a rain coat pulled tightly around his body, carrying a rifle on his back and a katana that he picked up from a store awhile ago. He only lived from listening carefully around him, when he takes his steps he barely makes a sound with practice steps. He had passed many towns, always going to the top of a building to over things. Of course he always met something in the building and a few were close calls. He had a facial hair growing from lack of shaving and empty brown eyes, becoming a beast to survive this world. He was walking in the same town as the woman but didnt know and was heading toward the gas station.

[[Erm, Rygarr, I was kind of hoping to keep this as a 'one-on-one', Unless ZhenShanMei would like you to join in then I'd rather you didn't. Maybe you should look over in the Requests board]]

ZhenShanMei

She slowly walked towards the store though constantly looking around her in all directions. When she noticed the figure, she ducked behind an abandoned mini van. She needed to quickly determine how many of them were inside. All manner of hope in the living was gone. There was only her in the world. Everything else that moved was either an animal or a monster. She cocked her gun and prepared to fire. There was no logic in prolonging the inevitable. She was going to end this pitiful creatures abominable existence.

The 'person' inside the store stood completely oblivious to the woman outside and began to shuffle its way towards the back of the store, knocking a couple of shelves over as it went.

ZhenShanMei

Phoebe had to go into the store anyway. There was only one she could see. With one less zombie in the world, she could have just a bit more peace of mind. With that resolve she went after it, careful not to make any sudden movements.

The mockery of a human swayed gently as it walked across the floor, its clouded eyes stared blankly while its rotted tongue loled from its mouth. A stench drifted from the corpse that stuck in the nose and produced a bitter taste like bile in the back of the neck. clutched tight in its unthinking hand was a small black hold all.

ZhenShanMei

Disgusting She thought to herself, the small baboon also felt some fear of it and clung tightly to her quietly. She crept up to it slowly and when the moment was right, she aimed for it's head and shot it.

The 'thing' remained obscenely oblivious to the fate creeping up to it, its senses long since rotted to uselessness. The bullet shattered the weakened skull and pulped what was left of the brain, the small caliber round shattering out of the back of the cranium with a small gaut of blood, gore and filth. The body slumped as if it were a puppet with its strings cut while the sound echoed loudly through the streets around it.

A foul smelling ooze began to leek from the corpse.

ZhenShanMei

"Ugh, gross." She muttered with a disgusted wince. Phoebe then quickly grabbed a few things she could put into her pocket and went back out to grab the fuel all the while looking in all directions all around her constantly.

The barren city seemed to crawl with life, foxes, birds, small mamals and the like fleeing from the harsh sound of the gun shot. Out in the distance a faint rumble could be heard.

ZhenShanMei

She froze and slowly turned in the direction of the sound, though she couldn't be too certain where it was coming from. It wasn't the first time her ears had played tricks on her. However, she did not live in a time where were could overlook things. It was in her best interest to get the hell out of the open, but since she couldn't make a move until she knew exactly which direction it came from.

Omnivar

the rumble in the distance starts to firmament into the clatter of hooves on cracked tarmac. A shadow in a dust cloud curves round a corner a couple of blocks away, swiftly clearing up to reveal a heavily loaded cart pulled by a pair of horses.

ZhenShanMei

She stood for a moment confused. That was unexpected, but as it got closer she hurried out of the way and into hiding. Where did those horses come from? If they were hungry or injured she would like to take care of them. After all she was a vet. However, she had to be cautious of everything and waited until she was sure it was safe.

The cart rumbled to a hault outside of a building a short way down the road, the building had obviously been barricaded at one point but was long since breached. A small group of 4 large men, armed with shotguns, cut down to make them lighter, and a pipe, wrecking bar or simmilar. The four large men began to spread out, checking the area while a fith man, much more slight than the others climbed off the cart dressed in a thick brown leather duster coat and a fedora. "alright, Hendricks, James, head inside and check it for anything worth the taking, quick, quite and clean, as always. Jonas, Mitchel keep an eye out for anyone looking to contest our claim." The four men grunted affirmations before two of them pulled the debris away from the door and headed into the dark.

ZhenShanMei

Phoebe remained hidden watching them. It felt so strange to hear human voices besides her own, but it was refreshing. However, those men didn't seem very friendly at all and it would be risky to approach them. She wondered if there was a way to follow them, but there was nothing she could do, the baboon was getting hungry so she needed to get it back home quickly.
