My girlie for submission.

Name: Corinthia Coleman
Superhero name & Nicknames Ryn, Rynna || Blue
Age: 32
Sexual Orientation: Bi-Sexual
Occupation: Police Officer

Physical Description: Ryn is of average height, standing about 5'6. More times than not, her dark brown hair is flowing freely at her shoulders or pushed back into a messy ponytail. She does not have the patience to do more complicated hairstyles. Her make-up is usually a minimum. Her figure is nothing that will make cars crash into each other. She is not straight up and down though. There are a few curves here and there but she does not dress to accentuate them.
Distinguishing Features: Various scrapes and scars. Ears pierced (mostly wears studs).
Face Claim: Simone Missick

Personality:

Appreciative: Due to her sheltered childhood, Ryn has always been appreciative of what has been placed in front of her, whether if object or person, because she could never be fully certain when it would be snatched from her life or allowed back within her presence again.

Not Easily Impressed: Ryn has been burned a lot in the past; now, it has manifested into trust issues. While she isn't opposed to some light-hearted conversation, banter, or flirtation, she prefers to work alone.

Ashamed: Discussion of her family is a sensitive topic. Tread carefully if you dare bring it up to her.

Workaholic: Ryn likes to keep busy; whether if that's doing her actual job or being a thorn in her target's backside.

Unforgiving: If you burn her, it's hard (some might say impossible) to get back in her good graces.

History:

Ryn always justified her childhood in the orphanage by creating grand reasons why she’d been abandoned by her parents. Sometimes, she imagined someone stole her from her handcrafted crib in the middle of the night, leaving her parents devastated for the rest of their lives. Other times, she was more practical. Maybe they weren’t ready for a child. It happened. Perhaps they believed she’d have a better shot at the better things in life by being raised by someone other than themselves. Regardless of what happened, she’d kill for the chance to speak with them. Just once.

Those reasons were easier to swallow than what the other children and matrons said about her family. They told her that her parents were bad people, who deserved to die rather than exist on the government’s charity. They were villains, responsible for the many deaths of innocent, hard-working Americans. To make matters worse, no one gave her a straight answer when she dared answer if they were alive or dead. Ghost, her father, had been a renowned assassin while Fade, her mother, had been a famous thief. Both caused considerable losses to not only the Collective but also enterprises.

The sins of the parent fell onto the head of the child. Children shunned her while the matrons of the facility found fault in her every action. It was not enough to humiliate her in front of her peers; they disciplined her through physical means as well.

It was with great relief when she turned 17 and became eligible for an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships were a common practice for orphans. To keep the orphanage from becoming overcrowded, those of workable age were sent to corporations and/or the military for internships.

Ryn chose the military, eager for the chance to see further than the orphanage window. The training proved challenging but she was too stubborn to return home and be another nobody receiving checks. While she endured the physical strain and mental breakdowns, remaining became harder after she suffered an assault from her commanding officer. She remained quiet about the altercation at first until the problem became a reoccurring one. Filing a complaint didn’t help. She left after the last time ended with him sobbing and bloodied on the floor.

He never filed a report.

By a miracle, Ryn received an opportunity to work at the police station. She started at the bottom of the totem, mostly filing paperwork before she was promoted and given additional responsibilities.

Specialized Powers/Skills:

  • Invisibility: Now you see me, now you don't. Rin has perfected the ability to hide in plain sight. She can do so in a multitude of ways, either by completing silencing any noise from her person or vanishing completely out of view. This ability also extends to technology; however, it requires greater concentration and causes more strain. As such, she cannot hide from its eye for an unlimited amount of time without physical consequences, such as nose bleeds, nausea, or fainting. Her ability can also extend to another person so long as they maintain direct skin contact with her.
  • Cloaking: Has the ability to make just objects disappear from the viewer's sight so long as it remains on her person.

Skills:

  • Martial Combat: Can handle herself in a fight.
  • Master Swordswoman: Prefers blades over guns as it helps with a stealthy kill.

Weapon Specialties: Guns and Blades

Ryn and Pumper Jones share a little overlap when it comes to powers, but I don't mind if you don't. There's a lot more to either character than being undetectable.

Okay, so if I wanted to look into the truth behind everything that happened from the inside, my character would be better off working for the Collective or a government agency?

The plan is for him to be hiding in plain sight while he pieces together the puzzle from within the system so he can eventually break it down.

Kinda like Mark Ruffalo in Now You See Me.

Government is easier to hide in than The Collective.

Well crap. Umm it's not a big deal for me but I'll try and think of a different one.

Will add pics when the wiki is back up.  I haven't edited her yet but it gives an idea of what I am looking at if you can get through the typos and grammar. :)

Name: Abigail Kingsley (Deceased)
Superhero name & Nicknames Primrose, Prim to her friends.  Kat Girl is about as close as she has to a hero name at the moment.
Age: 25
Sexual Orientation: Lesbian
Occupation: Courier

Physical Description:
Photos

Distinguishing Features: Her unicorn hair!
Face Claim: Fay Connie Zchmidt

Personality: Prim is an effervescent person by nature even if necessity causes her to tone it down among strangers.  She is bubbly and friendly to those she has come to trust.  She is the first to hug or snuggle a friend, even if those mannerisms sometimes lead to misunderstandings.  Prim is much more guarded around people she does not know.  It has been years since the incident that sent her into hiding but she still worries what might happen if people found out Abigail Kingsley was alive.  Even with little in the way of income, she is dead after all, she shares with those in her community as much as she can knowing that she can go without much easier than those without superpowers.

History: Born Abigail Kingsley, Primrose grew up the daughter of mid-level corporate drones.  Her privilege led her to hate the boring existence that offered nothing but the illusion of upward mobility and the terrifying reality of a fall into abject poverty.  She felt non-existant in her busy parents lives and was utterly unappreciative of what they did to offer her the comforts it provided.  As a child she did all the things she was expected to do.  She said all the things she was supposed to say. She dressed all the ways she was expected to dress and behaved as if she was the perfect wage slave in training.  Primrose envied the neon girls she saw in vapid trid shows that glorified and objectified life on the streets in equal measure.  She stupidly thought it would be cool to be one of them, never having had to face the reality of hunger or desperation of survival in a world that considers you less than human.  It was this naivety that drew her to a job with Kitty Kourier.  The kawaii esthetic of the corporation and the thrill of racing through the city on one of their delivery motorcycles stuck a primal nerve with her that only a corporate fed child could be blind enough to believe was real.   It was this impulsive desire than would change her life forever.

Primrose never knew she had an ability.  She got sick but it was never bad or lasted long.  She just thought she was lucky or a quick healer.  It wasn’t until she became employed but Kitty Kourier, a subsidiary of the Collective, that her power was discovered through the mandatory DNA testing use to weed out problematic superpowers.  She isn’t invulnerable or necessarily regenerative in a way that would make her immune to danger.  She just recovers faster.  A quirk that can be boosted with medicine.  Her power was deemed a low-level threat and possibly a boon to the struggling courier service.  Primerose was asked to undergo cybernetic enhancement to improve her effectiveness as a courier.  What was normally a minor surgery for other couriers was extensive for Primerose.  The Collective stepped in and packed a significant amount of cyber and bioware into Primrose without her or Kitty Kourier’s knowledge.  The Collective locked off much of the military grade ‘ware they placed into her with mental blocks so she could not access it unless they wanted her too or even know what was there. A cranial bomb was added just in case their fail safes didn’t work.  Primrose had potential to be the Collective’s perfect Manchurian Candidate. With the right code she would go from innocent courier to deadly assassin.  Primrose woke up unusually sore but none the wise to what had occurred. As far as Prime was concerned, she had the standard package of Kitty Kourier approved cybernetics and nothing more.

The Collective flipped her kill switch during a delivery to an upstart rival corporation run by philanthropist Maggie Nachtpferd.  The resulting battle ended with the top floor of Nachtpferd International in flames and Primrose laying in the street surrounded by the rubble of its destruction, a hundred floor drop that she doesn’t remember.  The fall damaged the subsystems of her headware initiating a reboot that unlocked access to all of the systems the Collective had locked away.  Thankfully the memory of what happened on the 200th floor of Natchpferd International.  The Collective, looking to hide their involvement in the attack, tried to activate the cranial bomb in her head, but the reboot allowed Prim to disable the trigger, though there was no way for her to get it out of her head.

Primrose’s status as a super was leaked to the public and blamed for the destruction.  She was listed as killed in the blast that destroyed the tower along with Maggie Nachtpferd though neither body was recovered.  The Collective shut down Kitty Kourier and destroyed all records that might have linked Primrose to them and considered the experiment a partial success, with room for improvement.

Prim was forced into hiding.  Forced to live the reality of being homeless and a wanted criminal.  It was nothing like the overly glitzed and 2-dimensional vids she followed religiously as a teenager.  She changed her name, grew out her hair, dyed it a riot of colors and completely changed her look to avoid any casual resemblance to her former life.  She had to learn what it was to live on virtually nothing and come to understand the privilege she continued to have.  Yes, she was homeless, but she saw people around in the same boat and they were not packed full of military hardware or skillsofts.  When they got sick, they could not heal like she could.  If they were sick, they had to make the choice between their health and the little money they could scrape from a job that found them infinitely expendable.  The reality of what life was really like for so many, what life was like for her now was a hard lesson.  One it took years for her to learn.  One she was still learning but something happened in the years she spent on the streets. She found out that she likes the person she has become much more than the person she used to be.

Primrose holes up in an abandoned warehouse by the docks and with the help of some other hidden supers has managed to make it a livable if eclectic space.  Prim tries not to use her abilities so she can avoid suspicion but has taken to protecting the neighborhood she calls home late at night when there is less chance of being noticed in her bright pink bodysuit.  At least it comes with a mask.  That is something.

Specialized Powers/Skills:

  • Healing Factor:Prims healing factor is small.  She just recovers from wounds faster than the average human.  Disease and illness are not so much of a concern as her body is better at fighting them off.  Broken bones mend in a few days and surgery recovery times are cut down significantly.
  • Cybernetics/Bioware:Wired Reflexes, skillwires and muscle augmentation make Prim unnaturally quick and super strong.  Much stronger than her slender form gives away. She can also leap incredible distances.
  • Kitty Kourier impact resistant bodysuit with balance enhancing tail:The standard Kitty Kourier bodysuit is made from the same material the Boston Minutemen Urban Brawl team uses for their combat jerseys.  It lessens trauma from impacts.  The balance enhancing tail helps improve agility and balance but not to supernatural levels. Retractable climbing claws are an aftermarket add-on and double as weapons.
  • KTS "Cat's Eyes" Goggles:These goggles come with night vision, targeting assistance and a full map suite that updates in real time.  It has full connectivity with modern smartphones and streaming services and has more apps available to it than you can count.

Skills:
  • Parkour!:All part of Kitty Kourier's corporate training.  Kouriers are put through extensive training on "efficient urban navigation" and the use of their Kitty Kourier impact resistant bodysuit with its balance enhancing tail.  It takes a while to get used to the appendage and the training helps with the adaptation.
  • Combat Training: Most military grade hardware and close combat weapons training.  She hates those kind of weapons and never uses them if she can avoid it, but she knows how.

Weapon Specialties: Most military grade hardware and close combat weapons.  She is adept at using her Kitty Kourier retractable claws.

Costume Description: As pictured above.

Been working on this for a little bit... Need to tweak the history - I don't think it reads well.

    This is Logan Finnegan.

    Katherine McNamara is her claim

Name: Logan Finnegan
Superhero name & Nicknames Silver Archer| Finn
Age: 21
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Occupation:  Grease Monkey Mechanic

Physical Description: Standing 5’4 with green eyes and red hair, Logan doesn’t carry much weight on her body, rather lithe and athletic – though with the curves that make someone aware she is feminine.  Doesn’t dress very fancy at all, and tends to be smudged somewhere with a little bit of grease.  Nails tend to be stained with oil.  Minimal makeup done.
Distinguishing Features: Two entrance wound scars in the left lower quadrant of her back.  Five rows of dates on the inside of her right forearm, the last being 10/13/2030.  Finnegan Family crest tattooed on her right shoulder.
Face Claim: Katherine McNamara

Personality: Logan is straight forward, much to the chagrin of some.  She will tell a person how it is, and doesn’t tend to mince words.  It isn’t that she isn’t a nice person, she just has had enough with just grinning and bearing it for the sake of being civil.  There are those who find her bluntness refreshing, though there are those who are affronted by the coarse language that can come out of her mouth.  She is known to be a defender of those who cannot defend themselves, and has taken a large monkey wrench to thugs who have tried to mess with her neighborhood.  There is a streak of recklessness that courses through the Irish American lass, as well as the moment to be impulsive.  She finds it hard to trust just about anyone, but once you get the walls to come down, you’ve got a defender for life.  However, cross the woman - truly cross her?  And you will have an enemy for life.

History: Logan Finnegan was born into a loving family, her father a mechanic and her mother who ran a bakery just down the road from the family garage.  Logan was the youngest of the Finnegan brood, by 17 minutes – an auspicious number by all accounts if one were to believe Celtic mythology; and as opposed to her twin brother Riley who squalled as if he were overcome with a great storm, Logan was… Mostly quiet, that that didn’t last for very long that was for damn sure.  Growing up, not only did she get to be regaled with the stories of real life heroes protecting the world and their country; she got to see one up close and personal.  Her Uncle Patrick Finnegan was none other than the man known as Flechette, something that her father was proud of; having served in the military himself.  But to Logan – he was far better than just a hero, he was her uncle first and foremost and whenever they played Superhero in the schoolyard, she picked Flechette instead of any of the other heroes.

Even if she got made fun of for it, bullied because ‘girls can’t be Flechette’.

Her brother Riley tried to tell Tommy O’Riordan to knock it off, but he just continued to pick on the poor girl with pigtails – tugging on the braids until they came undone.  Before her twin could get in between the two children, Tommy was on the ground with a busted lip and his blood smearing Logan’s forehead.  It was a detention well earned, and taught Tommy O’Riordan to think twice about opening up his mouth.  That was how it went, Riley and Logan were as thick as thieves – though that wasn’t to say she wasn’t close with her oldest brother Christopher Jr as well.  But well, they were twins and where one went – the other went as well.  Which was usually their father’s garage, learning how to torque a wrench before they could learn how to ride a bicycle – they lived an idyllic life; content with what they had – though to some it might not seem much, to the Finnegan family it was everything and it was good.

By the time they were sixteen, the Finnegan twins were both working in the garage – and- in the bakery; the family business was booming even with the newest technological advances, there was pride in owning something that people knew would last.  To the outside world, they were just as precocious as their brother and their family members – to those on the inside though… They were even far more precocious.  See, their father Christopher was actually kind of special as well – just like their uncle Patrick.  However, instead of being the hero after leaving the military – Christopher chose to settle down with his wife Mary Lou and raise a family.  Never once thinking that he would pass on his prowess to his children, especially after Christopher Junior showed nothing out of the ordinary.  But genetics are a funny thing, and it was proven during summer camp when they were fifteen and both twins could shoot a bullseye from such a far distance, as well as other peculiarities that separately were nothing special but all together...well… Christopher found out that both twins carried within them the same abilities that he did… and had for quite some time, but they had never thought that it was something that was important enough to talk about.  Christopher and Mary Lou made the two promise that they would never expose their abilities, that when they turned eighteen they could choose what it was they wanted to do with their lives – to follow in the footsteps of their uncle, or to carry on the other family business along with Christopher Junior.

That… That choice never came, as the Week of Disloyalty happened, throwing the entire world into chaos, and Logan’s entire world was forever blown apart.  Due to the power outages that swept over the nation, Christopher Jr. was killed in a head on collision.   Due to the rioting and protesting, Christopher Senior and Riley were killed during the rioting and looting as they stood in defense of the neighborhood that had been part of their extended family for as long as anyone could remember.  Mary Lou Finnegan perished from the earth three days later from wounds inflicted upon her by an unknown assailant attempting to rob the bakery.   But the greatest tragedy of all came later on that year.. as the leaves turned colours, her uncle became a turncoat and worked for the very people who had labeled folks like her father, her twin brother, and even herself… Terrorists.  Anger and sadness, grief… All of it roiled into one; and while it could have driven even the strongest and bravest to drink or worse; Logan refused to buckle or fall apart at the seams.  Turning instead to what she had known best – working in her father’s garage.  Sure, technology was growing far more advanced every single day, but she still worked on those dirty machines that were built to last a life time.   Logan didn’t trust the UBI or anything that it stood for, so instead of signing up for benefits; she kept her nose to the wheel and a wrench in her hand, and when times were tough she gritted through it.  When times were tough for her neighbors, she would take payment by way of food or an IOU if things got better.  She still has a stack of those, but… well.. sometimes the best sort of payment is knowing you did a good deed because you could, not because you got something out of it later on.

Boston has always been her home, always would be her home; and she would die to defend it.  Which is why the Silver Archer was born, came into existence.  Bringing peace and order in an otherwise lawless neighborhood, or trying.  But the criminal element is vast and strong… and there are those who like to turn a blind eye to it.  That isn’t to say that she doesn’t have a vendetta to carry within her, against those who murdered her family, against those who turned against the heroes who had done a better job of protecting civilians than even the cops could… And more importantly against her own uncle… The man whom she had idolized, the man whom she would bring down one day for turning against his own people.  The man who had her almost pinned down one night and left her with two daggers in her back.

Yea...That guy?

Fuck that guy.

Specialized Powers/Skills: There are alpha level and beta level heroes available.  Alpha is a few heightened abilities but nothing overpowered or one ability that packs quite a punch but isn't say a superman or thor level balance tipper.  Beta heroes have one minor ability or none at all relying on being near human peak or having invaluable skills or equipment.

  • Enhanced Reflexes: You know that crazy movie with the One True Savior, Neo?  Kind of like that... without the fancy CGI bullet time effects.
  • Enhanced Catlike Balance Neither a trip nor a stumble shall befall Logan Finnegan, she always chalked it up to gymnastics as a kid but... well.. she always managed to land on her feet.
  • Enhanced Stamina:The girl is tireless it seems.  Rarely ever gets winded, and if she were to run a marathon, she might win it on sheer ability to not need to pace herself.  It isn't to say she doesn't gas out, but it takes a good long bit for her, and due to this she has a rather large appetite.  Thankfully... She burns off everything she eats before it can pack on the pounds.  It takes a lot to get her tipsy, and even more to get her drunk... Most poisons take a lot longer to take effect.
  • Enhanced Vision: Her eyesight is pretty damn good, maybe her mother ate specially fortified carrots when she was pregnant with the twins.  The only downside is while she might be able to see an ant from twenty paces, bright flashing light can throw her for a loop - and she needs to wear sunglasses out even on overcast days.

  • Expert Archer: From days of summer camp to training ‘camp’ with her uncle – Logan’s skills have been honed to a fine edge.
  • Adaptive Melee Combatant: A girl who carries a sword might raise questions, a mechanic who knows how to swing a wrench?  That makes more sense.  She can improvise a hand held weapon if needs be, and needs have arisen before in the past.
  • Hand to Hand Combat:Taught to defend herself as well as go on the offensive if needs be by her father, after all Boston is a tough place for a young girl and she needs to know how to look out for herself.
  • Gymnastics:As a young girl Logan was afforded gymnastics classes, it seems to help in a pinch at times now a days though.
  • Advanced Mechanic:Born and raised in her father’s garage, it is now her bread and butter… Well mostly the heel end of the bread, but still.. While she knows how to fix the newer models of transport, there’s nothing like getting her hands greasy due to an engine rebuild.
  • Electrician:The finer points of wiring and connecting things to bring them to life, or to stop them from catching on fire.  It is all part of the package deal at Finnegan’s Garage.  This has also helped her - along with her ability to work with fiddly bits on vehicles to learn the finer points of making the arrowheads and shafts for her bow.
  • Baker:She can’t make delicate cakes and cookies like her mom ever could, but she can throw together a mean bread or roll, or even if you ask nicely a pretty kick ass churro.
  • Trick Shot:This should go without saying.
  • Defensive Driving:The road is a perilous place, and you have to drive like you own it, and that everyone else doesn’t know what they’re doing.  Also helps to get away from a tight spot immediately.

Weapon Specialties:
Improvised Arsenal: Channellock 30 Inch Adjustable Wrench
¾” Drive Torque Wrench (50-300FT/lbs)
Various nuts and bolts to be used as caltrops

Bow Arsenal: Electromagnetic Collapsible Recurve Bow – Customized bow with tech that can also be strung in a pinch.  Fitted with ‘black out’ colours and is capable of folding on itself for easier transport and concealment by way of added hinges located by the tiller adjustment bolts.  Multiple buttons on the bow’s grip which are capable of selecting specific arrowheads stored in her mechanical quiver, a laser sight to assist if needs be – found on the riser.

Mechanized quiver – supplied with a multitude of different arrowheads that have been either bought or created in the bottom of the quiver.  By dialing up an armament setting from the control on Logan’s bow, the Silver Archer can cause the quiver to affix these special arrowheads.

Costume Description: The Silver Archer is in name only – no flashy costume like the former heroes.  Instead, she tends to wear all black, a mask like balaclava that is attached to goggles that totally obscure the wearer.

O/Os: See Player’s O/O’s[/list]

Basically a slightly more accelerated version of Hawkeye, but nothing too significant.

Also HIyas!

Juggtacular

What we have here is a mix of brain and brawn, who was close enough to the hero scene and his own dark spots during his military service to understand that what was reported, and what was the truth, weren't always the same. He's a man on a mission to absolve his parents and all the heroes guilt in the eyes of the world, and bring things back to how they once were, by almost any means necessary.

Name: Jermaine Calhoun
Superhero name & Nicknames Zer0-Day | Cal, Tiny, IT(like IT Guy ), Reeves(like Bass Reeves as he has a stellar case rate)
Age: 28
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Occupation: Police Detective Special Grade[Information Broker/Thief]

Physical Description: Jermaine is not a small man. And in fact his nickname "Tiny" is due to just how large he is. He stands 6'4, and weighs about 260lbs. He also exercises regularly and trains in martial arts so he is in amazing shape and more than knows how to take care of himself in a fight, even without his powers. He has a number of tattoos he's gotten over the years. All of them hold a special meaning to him.
Distinguishing Features: He has tattoos covering almost his entire upper body aside from his face, neck, and hands.
Face Claim: John David Washington

Personality: Jermaine is a man who has been betrayed by society, and has decided that to get his revenge, as well as make the world a truly better place, he'll have to do some things he's not proud of. He maintains a rough, but charismatic persona that makes people slightly wary to approach due to the nature of his work, but they warm up to him quickly once they get to know him. Despite an intense gaze and attitude, he tends to smile a lot naturally, which helps putting people at ease around him.

He is highly intuitive and can read people thanks to his training, making it easy for him to ascertain information through subtle looks, facial cues, and body language. He tries to do the right thing, but will do the wrong thing if it's for the right reasons and results. He did a lot of things he's not proud of so American citizens can sleep soundly at night. This is no different. He doesn't like it, but he's not so naïve that he doesn't understand he'll have to work within the confines of the system to destroy it, and if that tarnishes him, then so be it.

History: Jermaine grew up in a loving household with both parents. Antwon Calhoun and Leilani Mahiʻai had met when they both came to Boston for work back in 2016. He was a cybersecurity consultant at a startup technology firm, and she was a white hat hacker, offering her services to companies to hack them and find holes in their defenses, then help them to fix said issues. In truth, while both jobs were legitimate, they were covers, and the pair both were accepted into the Torchbearers after recruitment was opened to all heroes.

He was known as Trion, and could absorb and manipulate the energy of stars for everything from strengthening his body to force fields, energy beams, and flight. She was called Gaia, and had complete control over the elements of nature from controlling the weather to manipulating the Earth itself. Both were Omega class heroes who quickly became well known as paragons of justice, and always put the greater good before themselves. The two worked so well together, that after a few years, they went into business together, and since almost all of their work was done from home, their schedules were free to focus on heroing.

Their dedication to helping people was so powerful that Jermaine was often left with relatives like his aunts, uncles, and grandparents as his mom and dad were busy saving the world. Once he became old enough to understand their duties though, he didn't get mad. In fact, he was overjoyed that his parents were superheroes, and two of his favorites too. Whenever he saw Trion and Gaia on the news or on his favorite cartoon, they stole the show.

The time that they did get to spend with Jermaine helped his parents discover that he had the same passion for computers as them, and it became a family tradition that they'd spend time together writing code, or hacking into dummy systems for fun and the like. Jermaine was never happier than when he was typing away on his computer with his parents doing the same. From the moment he found out they were heroes, he wanted to be a hero like them, even if he didn't get powers like them. He got them to put him in martial arts classes, sports. Anything to make sure he was ready for when he was older. His powers manifested when he turned ten, and his parents were overjoyed.

They began to train him in their use once they figured out what his powers actually were when one day he slipped through the floor and wound up in the basement, except instead of getting hurt, he'd made a small crater from the impact. For years he was told to keep his powers secret from all but his family and closest friends while his parents prepared him to one day become a hero. When he turned seventeen, despite feeling ready to follow in his parents footsteps, instead of attempting to become one of the youngest heroes to join the ranks of the Torchbearers, he instead join the Navy, recruiting into Officer School. He hoped that the discipline could help make him as ready as possible for the burden of becoming a hero. He aced OSC and started his Navy career as an Ensign.

Due to the precarious state of the world, he was deployed overseas and saw immediate combat. Through subtle uses of his powers and his own skill, he quickly stood out from the pack and proved himself in a command position. This got him recommended to SEAL training. After rotating back home, he went through the grueling courses one after the other, and at the end of it, he could call himself a NAVY SEAL. He was inserted into a Black Ops team upon his return to active service called "Black Gate" where his technological background was put to use as the teams DemoMan and their computer expert. The technological boom had made his type of work a lot more valuable in a war scenario so he was kept plenty busy. Over the course of his deployment he underwent dozens of missions, and ended up going career. It wasn't until the lead up to the Week of Disloyalty that his parents asked about his as of yet to begin hero career.

He realized that he'd been a hero, just one who didn't wear a cape and did the hard jobs. The ones that made you feel like garbage for doing the necessary evils the world would rather not acknowledge. He was ready to feel good about what he was doing all the time. He was nearing the end of his last duty tour anyway, so he figured now was a good a time as any to join the Torchbearers. He'd been honing his powers for years and had more than enough training. During his final few weeks before going home, the world as everyone knew it changed. Heroes were suddenly evil. They'd attacked the White House and assassinated the President. Everything was FUBAR and he was confused about everything. By the time he made it back to US soil, his parents were both imprisoned after the Torchbearers sans Grand Magus were all either killed or locked away. The first time he saw his parents in the flesh in more than a year, and they were in orange jumpsuits, showing bruises and scars from a battle against the government and the "heroes" who turned against their brethren.

They told him they were innocent of what they'd been accused of, and nothing was as it seemed. Someone was pulling the strings behind the scenes and the heroes were taking the blame. They told him to not trust anyone, and to keep his eyes on the people left over. He took their words to heart as his parents were the best people he knew, and he could always tell if they were lying. And he knew for a fact that they weren't. He immediately began filing papers for them and buying the best lawyer he could for their case. After that, he applied to the Police Academy, figuring the best way to fight the system, and find out the truth, was from within.

Since then, he's been an exemplary officer and worked his way up to Detective. And thanks to his skills, he liaises between the Boston Police Department and other governmental agencies like the FBI, CIA, DEA, and Homeland Security when cases overlap. He even brushes shoulders with the Collective from time to time. This gives him a surprising degree of access to the files and records of all these entities he works with as the nature of his investigations and cases involve various systems within various agencies. He also uses his powers and his skills to get further, illegal access to gain as much information on the Collective and the fall of the heroes as he can to piece together the puzzle and discover the truth. He's fully aware that he's walking the razor's edge, and his actions would probably be counted as morally skewed at the best, and downright bad at the worst. He doesn't care though. He's going to discover the truth...no matter what.

Specialized Powers/Skills:

  • Density Manipulation: Jermaine's so far only known ability is the power to psionically alter his density, as well as the density of objects up to a certain size and weight within his direct vicinity. His cells seem to have been supercharged by some sort of self-generated energy that allows him to access an entirely separate dimension where he draws excess molecules of mass into his body or whatever item he is channeling them into. He can also inversely shunt his molecules into said dimension to decrease the density of himself or an object. He has an innate sense of where on the scale of density he is and can shift from the highest to the lowest with a thought.

By increasing his density, Jermaine subsequently increases his strength and durability to impressive superhuman levels. This also comes with an increase in weight as well. And while it doesn't decrease his agility or ability to move(his enhanced strength offsets the weight of his frame), it does force him to be very careful at higher densities, as after a certain point, stepping even a little too hard can shatter concrete, and jumping or landing can obliterate the ground beneath his feet. So he's always careful to keep track of how heavy he is at any given moment. Decreasing his density increases his footspeed by a great deal, allows him to fly, and most impressively, to phase through solid matter like a ghost.

While he can manipulate the density of objects as large as a car, he has to be in physical contact with it for the changes to occur, and they are temporary, lasting a few minutes at most once he stops touching it. For smaller things, they have to be within a few feet of him, but the process is roughly the same. If the item in question leaves his field of influence, then after a short time it will revert to it's original weight and density. He can phase objects with him as their density matches his own and therefore he can touch them as normal even when moving through matter, but he strains with larger objects. So doing something like phasing a car through a wall would probably make him lose his lunch and leave him exhausted if he doesn't pass out.

Perhaps his most dangerous and devastating application of his powers is their use against organic matter. By phasing a part of his body into someone(usually a hand) and then slightly raising the density of his hand, the shock to the person's system causes intense pain, and can be enough to knock them unconscious. If he drastically raises the density, they could, and more than likely would die. For that reason this is a last resort move that he's only used a number of times, and it's always made him feel dirty for doing so.

  • Technology Expert: Jermaine discovered his passion for computers when he was young, and that extended to other things like engineering. He can still remember weekends building machines with his dad or writing lines of code with his mom. This has been something he's been doing since childhood and never stopped. So while he doesn't professionally hire out his services, he is one of the best you'll find when it comes to things like hacking systems or designing some useful tech. For instance, he created his entire suit and all the gadgets built into it.

  • Military Training: He joined Officer School at seventeen, then went through boot camp, A school, advanced marksmanship, etc, etc... His training never stopped even while deployed, and then for SEAL training he went through BUDs, SERE school, and a number of other programs to hone him into the perfect soldier. He's also gone through police training and several programs for his promotion to Detective. This means he is a highly competent warrior and everyman, with a wide variety of skills.

  • Cooking: Even though he spent a lot of time with family, Jermaine was a latch-key kid and learned how to cook at a fairly young age so he didn't have to wait for someone to bring him food, or go over to his cousins for dinner. He could just make himself something if he was hungry. And being the inquisitive child that he was, he didn't like making the same thing all the time. He spent a lot of time on YouTube and other sites learning how to make new and exciting food. He never went to culinary school, but he could hold his own in any kitchen you drop him in.

  • Martial Arts Training: Jermaine always wanted to be a hero, and from what he knew as a kid, a hero had to know how to fight. Plenty of them donned the tights with no powers so being able to defend themselves was a must. And even those with powers got into situations where they were unusable, so some measure of hand to hand combat training was necessary. He is primarily trained in MMA with a focus on muay thai and BJJ, but he has also learned some Krav Maga and Sambo as well. Even without his powers, his skill, size, and surprising speed make him a tough opponent.

Weapon Specialties:

Pistol - While Jermaine primarily used a rifle during his time with the NAVY, he always has his sidearm on him in his day to day as a police officer and has become almost as good as with a long gun. He favors a customized NikoTech Praetor. It's a heavy duty pistol that is essentially a hand cannon, but he can shoot it one handed while most people need two and still complain about sore shoulders afterward.

Dodge Balls - As he doesn't kill when heroing, he keeps a collection of balls made from a super tough alloy in a pouch hidden underneath his vest. The balls are all the size of a marble, but can be expanded to about the size of a cricket ball. He uses these as projectile weapons for when someone is too far to touch, or fleeing and he doesn't feel like chasing them down. A quick toss with a bit of density added on can knock someone out clean or punch the air right out of their lungs with a gutshot.

Costume Description: Jermaine has designed his own hero costume with a mixture of DIY things he bought and created, and high tech bits and pieces he's gained from altering reports and retrieving things left over from cases, as well as stuff found in evidence. It consists of a kevlar body suit, and a kevlar helmet/mask that has it's own HUD connected to his personal network, as well as a vocal modulator. The lenses are equipped with a customized LED display that can project words, images, and even emotes and expressions like @_@ for example to express confusion. He also has a leather hooded vest lined(with a split tail that stops just above the backs of his knees) with kevlar and other durable materials over the suit. Both the vest and mask have been studded with spikes for a bit of personal flair. The sheer amount of protection built into the suit is so it can survive him wearing it, as normally he is all the protection he needs.

In writing, a flaw is not the interesting part of a character.  What is interesting is how a person overcomes a flaw.  I want to read how a person overcomes a flaw, not how the flaw overcomes the person.

Got power back a day or so ago, been working trying to handle the natural disaster around here but will be posting a past thread and some current time places to play tomorrow.  There won't be any voluntary GM events for the next week or two but the setting should be ready to write in soon.  Hope everyone is doing well.

No worries on GM events, I tend to get my own stories going anyway. I'm glad to hear you've got power back.

Still recruiting and now current on character approvals.  We now are live with rooms made and writing now starting with GM Events coming soon that are voluntary for characters to join in.

We likely need some more martial types and right now the swing is heavily female heroes at the moment.  Just getting started nothing but introductions being written right now as characters feel out the city of Boston in the future.
