Okay so I figured you all would know the answer of this question...

Netflix is getting boring (seriously Camp Cretaceous is the most interesting thing on Netflix outside of Klaus Hargreaves)

Funimation yay or nay? Worth the money? As much as I like to watch Subs I am mostly watching TV as white noise... so I prefer Dubs right now.

I do believe Funimation has a 2 week trial, but in my opinion they do have a good selection of Dub's.

I'm working on catching up with my stuff so my current bounce between's show wise....

Crunchyroll- So I'm a Spider, So What?, That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime S2, The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter, Galaxy Express 999

Funimation- Yashahime, Bakemonogatari, Gleipnir, The Helpful Fox Senko-San

HIDIVE- MM!, Mysteria Friends, Beyond the Boundary, Revue Starlight

Amazon Prime: Killing Bites, Girls Last Tour, Dororo

HBO Max- In/Spectre

Hello all,

I have a question does anyone have any suggestions for some good romance anime?
I would love some that have happy endings but if anyone has a suggestion for one that's just too good to avoid I would love to hear about it.

I don't watch many romance anime.. though I seem to remember Paradise Kiss, Nana, His and Her Circumstances and Spice and Wolf. They remade Fruits Basket and it's showing some romance esc things... I hope I am not too off the mark for you, I don't remember how any end lol. I love the Slice of Life anime and these mostly hit that genre too

Hopefully I can help you out, I sometimes decide to enjoy a romance anime. Some of these are a Rollercoaster of emotions but the ending is happy at least.
Elemental Gelade, The World is Still Beautiful, Yamada-Kun and the Seven Witches, Golden Times.
Hope these are to your liking

so this happened a couple days ago:

Im not sure about the ramifications of what this means... it feels like Harmony Gold got a cash infusion coming their way with regards to this... Im happy, because, yay giant robit spesplanes, but it feels like Harmony Gold is getting money out of this when they should have lost their copyright hold over two decades ago. but maybe losing their copyright war with battletech unseen mechs made Harmony Gold shit the bed and go to the negotiation table with BigWest in japan

BIGWEST CO., LTC., STUDIO NUE, INC. and HARMONY GOLD U.S.A
ANNOUNCE EXPANSIVE AGREEMENT FOR
THE FUTURE OF MACROSS AND ROBOTECH WORLDWIDE!
***********

April 9, 2021, Tokyo, Japan: Landmark agreement between the anime companies will allow immediate international distribution of most Macross television sequels and films, while affirming Harmony Gold’s rights to the Robotech franchise. Both companies will cooperate on the international distribution of future Macross and Robotech projects post 2021.

Tokyo based BIGWEST CO.,LTD. and Los Angeles based Harmony Gold U.S.A. announced an agreement regarding the worldwide rights for the legendary Macross and Robotech franchises. This expansive agreement signed by both companies on March 1, 2021, ends two decades of disagreements and will allow Bigwest and Harmony Gold to chart a new path that will unlock the great potential of both the Macross and Robotech franchises worldwide. The landmark agreement immediately permits worldwide distribution of most of the Macross films and television sequels worldwide, and also confirms that Bigwest will not oppose the Japanese release of an anticipated upcoming live-action Robotech film. The agreement also recognizes Harmony Gold’s longstanding exclusive license with Tatsunoko for the use of the 41 Macross characters and mecha in the Robotech television series and related merchandise throughout the world excluding Japan. Moving forward, both parties will cooperate on distribution regarding future Macross and Robotech projects for the benefit of both franchises.

Bigwest Representative Director, Kaya Onishi added,“Stories that feature Valkyries, a transformable realistic mecha, in action among the galaxies while diva's sing in the background, as well as love triangles involving the pilots and singers. That was and continues to be the concept behind the Macross series, and I am happy that I can now help bring Macross to people all over the world on the 40th anniversary of the series. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Harmony Gold Chairman, Frank Agrama for his courageous decision in this matter.”

Harmony Gold USA Chairman, Frank Agrama stated, “This is an incomparably historic moment for both Harmony Gold and Bigwest and the anime industry overall. This is also an exciting moment for fans of Robotech and Macross worldwide. I thank my friend, Bigwest Representative Director, Kaya Onishi for her hard work to help us reach this long desired resolution that protects both of our franchises while building a better tomorrow for both our companies.”

If you haven't watched Great Pretender and have Netflix, you should be watching it. It's a great Anime and the use of color is pretty great.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

A friend here on E. recommended that I watch "The Duke of Death and His Maid". I'm only a few episodes in, but I absolutely adore it. :-*

The basic plot is that this young duke was cursed so that any and every living thing he touches dies, therefore he's shunned by almost everyone. However, his maid Alice loves him and serves him devotedly, and he loves her, even when she drives him up the wall with her constant sexual harassment. It's adorable and funny, but also sad, as unless they can find a way to break his curse, they'll never be able to touch, kiss, or make love. There's more to it than that, but that's a good starting description. :-)

I adore this anime, and especially the relationship between the duke and his maid. It's refreshing that they're both pretty open about their feelings for one another, and that there's no "harem" trope going on. (Not that the harem trope is bad, but it's a bit overdone.)

I'm not doing it justice, so please, please, please give it a try! :D

I know it's been awhile since this post was made, but I think I can add to this list. There is a good romance/adventure anime, it's old...but it is very good. It's called Fushugi Yugi. Like I said it's an old one but it has romance, adventure and supernatural as part of it's tags.

So, for the longest time I was not really an Anime person.  Like, I watched Starblazers which was an Americanized Space Battleship Yamato which was played in syndication on UHF channels growing up.  But beyond the few my wife then made me watch, it never felt the urge to watch much beyond that, it just never struck something.  I was a huge fan of Japanese live action movies, especially J-horror, for a long time though as well as a friend insisting I watch Overlord not too long ago.  But suddenly, the Anime bug bit me.  I was seeing clips of My Dress-Up Darling and for some reason it really struck me, so I finally got a sub and watched it and it is now a guilty pleasure.  And it seemed to set off this desire to watch more Anime and I've been making up a watch list and devouring more recent stuff and slowly going into older stuff.

But seriously, I do recommend the show as some cute and wholesome fare to intersperse in with some heavier stuff.

Love it. There is nothing to feel guilty about, that series is amazing. I have watched so many romance anime that whenever a new one starts to air I'm just sort of over it before it even starts. I could never get on the band wagon for things like Kaguya-sama, or Nisekoi, or whatever new romance anime was sweeping pop culture because romance peaked hard with shows like Toradora and Spice and Wolf, then just sort of became cookie cutter of one another. But nothing gripped me and held on like My Dress-Up Darling. Like, everything just felt right, and before episode three was even over, I had ordered all of the manga released in English, and in the run up to episode four, I got caught up on the manga in like two days. It really gets the whole 'romance' thing right after so many just fail so completely to do so. I love how the whole series is centered around bucking gender norms and the message being 'do what you love, and people will love you for it'.

Just watched black lagoon, really like the characters and the world around them. Its not the first time I had watched it, but it keeps pulling me back.

Finished the first season of Is it Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon? perhaps one of the worst titles for an anime/manga as it totally misleads one what it's about.  I don't know why modern anime/manga are suddenly filled with the longest, silliest titles anymore.  But watched the first season and then watched the OVA movie that follows the first season and Sword Oretoria which is like a side anime showing the point of view of the Sword Princess which you only get glimpses of in the main anime as she's the one who the main character is trying to keep up with.  Overall, a very interesting concept of gods coming to earth and starting Familia and playing games with each other while agreeing not to use their power.  Been enjoying it so far, think it's the most I've watched of one series so far.

Some of the better material is still yet to come. Though they did take some liberties with the way the second season ended as they sort of adapted the last chapter of volume 8 of the LN. Which that volume interestingly doesn't really focus on Bell so much as many of thr people around him. It is a fun read and I highly recommend it. Now speaking of,the LN for Dungeon, the first season by itself adapted the five volumes of the LNs. Hell the episode that introduced Welf was pretty much the whole of volume 4.

All that said season 2 is primarily adapted from volumes 6 and 7 of the LNs with season 3 adapting 9 and 10 of thr LAS. Now as I said volume 8 was more of a collection of short stories about various characters and their love lives. Which was a crying shame they didn't fully adapt these stories as it gave some more insight to Welf's relationship with his goddess

Oh that sucks, you would think they'd do some more off shoots like that one about the hot spring or Sword Oratoria.  I've watched both before moving onto season 2 though that's been a bit of a slower go so far.  But have gotten side tracked with over anime premiering and stuff, so slowly making my way though it.

On another note, I've never been intrigued by the bigger animes, like Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball, Naruto just doesn't appeal to me, but I did get into Demon Slayer's first season when it premiered on Netflix first before the hype got going big time for that one and I have to say it's been a favorite but hadn't returned to it until recently.  Finally got through Mugen Train and waiting for the last two eps of the Entertainment District Arc to be put on streaming. But after watching that figured I'd give Jujitsu Kaisen a chance and.. huh, not what I expected.  The characters are just a little insane and say things that defy your expectations.  I've been told they have some of the best female characters in a while in an anime, though I've only gotten through the first three eps just now eating supper.  But will definitely be devouring the rest of this show.

I haven't been watching some of that as like you I never got into Attack on Titan and while I liked Dragon Ball when I was younger the way the series pondered around and ugh....just burned me on the series. Attack on Titan was a different kettle of fish. I couldn't get past the how stupid the humans were acting in that series. The plot holes in the story were just too large for me to ignore. As for Naruto, yeah I was fan back in the day, but sort of stopped reading it same for Bleach. The stories were getting more and stupid not to mention the artowrk for the manga got more and more atrocious as the series went along.

As for the others I can't exactly say really. However in regards to Dungeon, like I said the bulk of Season 2 was adapted from Volumes 6 and 7 of the LN. Episode 5 of the season is where volume 6's content ends and Volume 7's begins. Though by pure episode count the stuff for volume 7 is bigger, a given since the novel itself was much larger than volume 6.  Also you'll need to watch the end credits scene as it sets up some stuff for season 3. Which season 3's material is based on the events from Volume's 9 and 10 of the LN. Like I said after the first five volumes the creator got his act together big time and started putting more content in his books.

Now another really good series I would like to recommend you checking out is Mushoko Tensei. Or Jobless Reincarnation. They just fully finished the second season back in January after it premiered in Summer of last year. One of the big things I like about this series is that it does a couple of things differently. First off don't let the series fool you into thinking it's come along in the last ten or so years. Ironically the story itself only finished publishing in 2015 after having been going for nearly ten years. Yeah that's right its an Isekai series that pre-dates even SAO.(and is much better in my opinion.). Now the real kicker here is the web novel version on the popular website that is used for creators to publish their work, still lists the series in it's top five picks...even eight years after the final publishing. So anyway getting ahead of myself, what I really liked about this series was how well the author made the characters feel well real. Plus the biggest thing it did...was allowing for the main hero(who is yes a typical Isekai OP Protag but not exactly) to actually fail and make mistakes. Like the kinds of mistakes that literally get people killed. And because those sorts of things its not afraid to deflate its protag's ego when he's got cocky.

Funny thing about Mushoku Tensei:

It was made as a prequel and even though it basically spawned modern isekai tropes, the isekai spin was an afterthought. Rudjerd's daughter was the first character made for the entire Mushoku Tensei lore and the original plan was to have it be her adventures.

Funny enough, Mushoko tensei is one of those few animes I watched a little bit of before I kind of delved wholly into things recently.  I watched the first 13 eps as they released only the first half of the season when I was watching and then I kind of fell back out of watching stuff so I do have ot get back to watch the second part of the first season as well as the second season.  And I know they have a spin off following the cousin coming out soon.  I didn't realize the pedigree of the original material though, that's interesting.  I know the company making the anime is like a group that formed solely for this project initially so it's almost an indie company wanting to honor the source material, from what I understand.

I had heard the same thing as well. I hope they can adapt the whole of the LNs as I and a friend of mine are really hooked on the show itself. Even still I would suggest giving the second half of the first season a watch. It is an enlightening experience, plus we learn a little more about our main protag Rudie as well as a few bits of info about some of the other characters as well. Though I wasn't aware that there was a spin-off series coming out about his cousin. Which I'm going to guess we haven't actually met yet for some reason.

Now that part I didn't know about, but good to know. It would explain some of what I got doing a little reading ahead on the wikia about things that went on. Though baring that in mind it does now make me wonder if she was the one they were talking about in the regards to that dog he met and saved. It would certainly explain a few things.

Recently watched the Duke of Death and his Maid and wasn't sure if was something I'd like from the little previews I'd seen but dang, it is a fine anime.  It reminds me of a twisted Beauty and the Beast style one with an interesting mystery that is slowly unfolding while you follow the relationship between the young lord and the maid.  There is something rather amusing about how she is teasing 'the incarnate of death' yet also telling, if only to emit a reaction from him.  But over all, it's got a nice fairy tale feel that unfolds just enough of the mystery to keep it intriguing while also following the relationship of all the cast members.  I think it's been one of the quickest devour of a series for me as got through it in like two days when it became available earlier this week.

And with the end of My Dress Up Darling, I think my new guilty pleasure is Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie, mainly because it reminds me of one of my RPs and it's mix of cool and cute that is rather hard to just hit.  It certainly doesn't have the adorableness of My Dress Up Darling as it is all based on a simple concept, but I've found it quite amusing.  Also finished the first season of Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles which I enjoyed but it does fall into that whole isekai which is far too overpowered trope that can be annoying in it's overuse, but the journey was interesting.

There are a few other good ones this season but the one that is a bit older that I'm just having problems with is Re:Zero.  The first few episodes were really good but then when you get to Episode 12 the main character becomes too freaking insufferable and illogical that I'm just like, why?  It doesn't seem to hold up with what has come before that I just have not been able to really get into it fully, watched a few more but at Ep 15 I'm like, I don't know if I can suffer any more for the payoff. I'm wondering if this is one of those, it's better to read the manga series.

I do admit Suburu can get a bit annoying, and the middle part of the series is kind of a strain, but the later portions are much better. Particularly once Suburu gets his act together and fights against the whale. Which is a pretty good set-up. Plus, there is good a bit that cut out of the anime. I would say continue watching the series as the last like seven or so episodes are worth watching. We really see Subaru in his element. Though season 2 is going to sort of throw you for a bit of a loop on some things, it sort of switches focus part way through from Subaru to Emila which is an interesting turn away for it. All in all I would say finish season 1.

Now a fun Isekai that I rather enjoyed last season and I hope they make a second season of sometime soon is Faraway Paladin. I really want to see that continued very much.

Yeah, I keep hearing about the whale section so definitely one I need to get to, just need to plow through it.

Oh nice, I just recently watched like the first few eps of Faraway Paladin and it is an interesting isekai for sure, certainly a different concept from the beginning and curious to see where the full season takes me.  I think my favorite isekai from this recent season so far is Life with an Ordinary Guy who Reincarnated as a Fantasy Knockout.  It's kind of amusing and you have two different personalities working together.  I'm curious to see how they can sustain the story and all.  It's not groundbreaking but certainly amusing compared to a lot of the other ones that are rather cookie cutter I've seen from the last few shows.

God yes Knights & Magic! I loved that one very much. The series had me hooked from episode 3 onwards when they had a situation where they asked the main protagonist that age old question of "What you have done if that crazy idea hadn't worked?" Now I'm waiting for the typical response of "But it didn't." or something there of.

His answer.

"Oh I would have just run away with you guys."

Wait what! *pushes playback*

"I would have run away with you guys."

After that went on for about three or four minutes, I was finally to get my brain back to working order. Yeah, that blew my mind. So not only did he have a backup plan for his wild and crazy idea, but it was...sensible! So yeah I was hooked on the anime from then one. And it was one wild ride.
