This is actually a story I have worked a lot on and I'm hoping to get enough people to run it stably. I'm looking for five players. I don't care about the genders as long as we are fairly well balanced. I do care about classes as I want a solid party. That means everyone has a role in the party and for the most part no two people have the same role. If two people do have similar roles then you might have to change your character a bit to be different from theirs. We can't have a party of all healers. This will start at level 5 and you pick skills through a 32 point buy. Your starting gold is simply what you roll for starting gold. Also some personal rules of mine as a DM are no gnomes. I just don't like them or how they are usually played by players. Also the addition of a belt fed repeating crossbow. This basically allows you to rapid fire it like a machine gun if you have rapid reload and many shot. You will however take the chance to hit minus same as any other weapon you many shot with. you can only shoot up to 10 individual shots per round and after that is simply a cone of 4 times your usual crossbow damage. The crossbow must be masterwork to be belt fed and you can not shoot more than one shot while moving. Another note is that no race in this campaign is inherently evil unless they were created for evil. So Orcs, goblins, Lizardfolk, ect. Are all just as good as humans. Now for story stuff.

The world was at peace. The two largest countries Brem, run by an alliance of elves dwarves and humans, and Yung, run by an alliance of orcs, goblins, and lizardfolk, Have been at peace for hundreds of years and would trade regularly with one another. That is until something strange happened. One day without reason both countries declared war on each other. it is rumored that it was even on the same day but no one who can confirm that will say. Now the citizens didn't want to fight as many on either side had friends in both countries. However they were quickly shown they had little choice. Both sides started to draft anyone able to fight by force. They fought each other each side committing terrible atrocities. Stories of young men who helped the needy before the war become monsters who rape families were not uncommon. It seemed anyone who donned the military armor of either side wasn't themselves anymore. Civilians notice but say nothing as everyone starts to be drafted even those to weak to fight well. Both countries seem in a frenzy as they spiral into madness. Your characters are mercenaries. the one group not drafted as many are not citizens of any nation. You will be hired though and all of you can only hope you can avoid wearing the armor and maybe figure out what is going on.

Hope people join. Hope you stay to the end. If you have any questions just ask me. :)

I'd like to express my tentative interest in a tank-ish role.  I have an idea for a tower-shield specialist fighter, a Wood Elf barbarian, and a neutral-evil monk; all would be very supportive of party goals, but for very different reasons.

Are we free to make up some details about geography/culture for our backgrounds?  Do you have a set limit for party size (small preferably)?  Which section (NC, EX, etc) would you see this taking place in?

You are free to make basic details of culture and stuff like that but run it by me. The party size is 6. It will be in NC human. The belt fed should not exist but I say it's as possible as a repeating crossbow is possible and a belt instead of a clip is reasonable. If you have a repeating crossbow and rapid reload then reloading is a free action. So by the rules it's possible. It's also fun and thanks to the to hit minuses it's not really OP. There are also rules for starting gold at higher levels in the dungeon masters guide.

I am interested in making a field-medic sort of cleric, but he primarily buffs.

It turns out that I ended up making a female Aasimar Cloistered Cleric.  I've been watching American Horror Story: Asylum, and I'm sort of digging the sexy nun thing.

Okay, there will also be a friend of mine joining who is a druid so they are a damage dealing healer. A buff based healer can be make to be different enough to not seem like a party of healers.

Is the role of an arcane caster available? I'd like to play as a Wizard if it is. I'm thinking a generalist, who will basically be a living, breathing utility knife :P
My posting rate is SLOOOW at the moment... sorry about that :(

I would love to play a sorcerer that focuses on war-magic.

Do you already have all your players ? Is there room for one more ?

*thinks* I think I will throw my hat to this aswell. Elven Dushblade coming up.. working as frontliner and arcane devastator..
I would love to join backgrounds with other pc's aswell.(siblings with another elf maybe? or romantic relationships etc)

Question: Are we going to use some sort of map program for combats? (3.5ed is quite heavy on squares in combat, like reach and step 5' and stuff)

It would be fun to have full F group..as they are commonly seen as weaker sex. One more reason for htem to join up in dangerous and uncertain times..

as it would fun to see pure cleric group (or religionary inclined, paladins, clerics, divine spirts.. ) They would have pretty clear reason to stick together...

vatovie

We won't use a map program for combat.  It will be described.  That will include distance.  It's how I was trained to DM and I'm used to it. Also I have zero clue what the ratio is as I haven't formally accepted anyone. I'll tell you who in thinking of letting join the most though.  The Druid is a female.  The cleric is a female. I'm gonna assume the tank is female.  So we have a lot of girls. Which I'm fine with if everyone is okay with it.  Just let's not have only girls.  Characters in considering are the dushblade for the close combat damage.  As well as the wizard.  I'm sorry to the war sorcerer but between the cleric and the druid we probably are okay as far as war magic is concerned.  The only reason I'm considering the duseblade is the larger focus on sword fighting and the damage there compared to magic.

No need for the full religious group.  Let's just say those with a religion will have their world changed in this roleplay.  Also with everyone else going crazy but you guys and a few other people that's plenty reason to stick together

LuciferOs

Can I change to a fighter ? or is there already too many players ?

There aren't too many players yet and you could possibly be a fighter.  It depends on the kind of fighter.

Blinkin

Getting a whole group of female characters is the norm on E; given more than half a chance, you'll see all females in most groups.

Usually, getting 1 healer in a party is a major feat, getting a whole party of them... well, good luck if you expect that.

It looks like the rogue isn't in contention, so I'll politely withdraw my interest and wish everyone a good game.

Whoops. I was answering your question so I managed to forget to mention you.  We need a rouge.

Blinkin

Ah, well then, 1 male human rogue(4)/Swashbuckler (1) coming up.

I would be interested in establishing links in background with other characters, either romantic or friendship, once the selection has been made. I don't see much point in it until we know who's going through and who's not.

Still working on the background, but here's a teaser. I'll send the mechanics to our  GM via PM... I like to keep my companions guessing about what he can do. It's much more fun to learn about each other in play.

Jason Monroe

Name: Jason Monroe
Age: 24
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Height: 5’10
Weight: 192

Physical Description: Jason is a good looking young man with a certain style and flaire that makes him stand out in a crowd, be it on the deck of a ship, or the local tavern; he makes a mark wherever he goes. A strong jawed face with bright, blue eyes and a slight curl to his lips that implies a bit of humor that only he is privy to are separated by a straight, almost bold nose and the top half of a jet black goatee. A tanned complexion surrounded by a luxurious mane of ebony hair and a single gold ring in anearlobe. Broad shoulders fills out the linen tunic under a dark blue jacket before his frame narrows to lean hips and long legs encased in leather pants and turned down thigh high boots.

Personality: Jason never lacks for something to say, usually witty and perhaps just a little insulting, but that’s only to his opponents. A fairly happy-go-lucky man, Jason is everything that a swashbuckler should be, urbane, polite, and loves a good duel. While he might plan to kill a man tomorrow, there’s no reason why he can’t sit down and have a drink with the man for some banter and piffy interchanges the day before. As long as the rules of etiquette are followed, he’ll even buy the drink. But, when the time calls for seriousness… well, he’s probably not the guy to look toward.  He’s not lazy, or doesn’t take things seriously, he just doesn’t want to look like he is. But, when the decks are awash with blood and the sails are flapping in the dead air, he’s the man you want at your back.

Have room for a Conjurer?

And I mean taking all the cool class options to be a devastatingly nasty one, in a good way, who will be Neutral its not good for a mercenary to make moral judgments on who they work for.  ;D

Just a Conjurer. Race I'm mulling over either a Half-drow Elf or Human with 1/4 Orc Blood (be a human just her papa is a half-orc and momma was a human mage).

vatovie

Maybe, Ruby maybe. Definitely if the other person wanting be the arcane focus of the group never sends any sort of character design past what he mentioned. So it's a fight between you and him for the better arcane focused character and whoever makes the better one will get the spot. Also Blinkin your character looks good. You are the first guaranteed member of the party other than the druid I personally know.

LuciferOs

I may have to pull out as myth weavers dont accept registration from those with yahoo email addresses :(

Which means I cant make a myth weaver character sheet.

You don't have to pull out just use this link and make them that way.

http://www.pathguy.com/cg35.htm

It auto formats it to look like a full character sheet when finished.

Blinkin

Cool! Just let me at 'em locks and traps! lol

Now, I have to do a history... As Jason still has a few coin left, the gear may change just a little,, but nothing significant... Does D&D 3.5 have an everburning torch?

I'll have to look at that sight, I can't use either Mythweavers or Plothook because they aren't blind accessible. I always use my own format because I've never seen the official sheets.
