If you cannot honor a No, then you certainly could never honor a Yes.

Praxis

This could prove interesting.

I'll hold off to see how much interest you get.

Best of luck.

I have been wondering if a Gorean game would start up.  I am interested in either a Kajira or maybe kajirs to be.
"Are you into whips and chains too?"
"No, chainsaws."  (just kidding)

Yeah, I'm shocked that there isn't more Gor here, and I've never seen a group start up based on it, just 1x1's.

Good to get some more interest

Humble Scribe

Well I'm more than tentatively interested. I read the first dozen books in my teenage years and even in spite of John Norman's terrible, repetitive writing style, I do still carry fond memories of them. They started as a bit John Carter of Mars, but by the end were essentially S&M soft porn (not that there's anything wrong with S&M soft porn...)
I even have all of the books, although some of them only as pdfs, and even I haven't read them all.
I can play as dom or sub, and often enjoy the latter, but if this is like every other mutli-player game I've been involved with on Elliquiy you'll get about five slave girls for every master, so I'm reasonably resigned to wielding the whip. Given my username, I might toy with being of the caste of Scribes.

It's interesting that you say that Humble Scribe, but so far hardly any females are interested

I'll give it a few more days to see if any women show up.

And yeah, I'm only on the third book but he listened writing style is so elegant and verbally sexually. Even just describing a sunset, Norman has a way of tickling the ears beautifully.

I love it all

If you cannot honor a No, then you certainly could never honor a Yes.

I have read about half a dozen or so of the books, at different points in the series.  And I have seen at least one group game try to get started, but collapse after a few posts..  Then again, seen a lot of games end that way.

They do have a small, niche market of male silk slaves (see Fighting Slave of Gor), but it is very much a niche market.  If we get a Free Woman who was interested, I'd be willing to play that.

Either way, want to play either a slave or soon to be slave.

WhatLiesAbove

I'll show interest as a possible Kajira or Free woman.

Mellific

I'm tentatively interested as well.

This concept has seriously great potential and I'd love to see a sandbox Gor big group game happen here on E. <3

Understandable.  You really only need one person in a male role doing...a bad job of it and things can go off the rails spectacularly.

Entering into a "Gorean scene" involves a significant amount of trust because in some cases the woman is leaving nearly everything up to the whims of the man...or men.  The limits of everyone involved also needs to be quite transparent.  I don't believe that a Gorean "game" would push thresholds any more  than some of the games going on in the Non-Con or Extreme section but a healthy dose of caution and respect involved with the process would benefit everyone interested.

...in only my opinion.

I imagine that there is a reason why in ten years of being on E. this is the first time I've seen something such as this offered.  I think it can work but I also think everyone needs to be bringing their A game.

Vlexia

WhatLiesAbove, thank you so much for your interest! Either would work since you would have plenty of options in this world and players in the game :)

Mellific, I can definitely see it turning to Sandbox eventually when it gains popularity, but I didn't want to do that initially because it could lose steam with everyone on their own. I kinda have a new idea on how to play it as a group since this world is a little unique. But I'll explain once we get going.

And Praxis, you are right in pretty much everything you have said. The underlying actions of Gor are not foreign to this site, but I believe people shy away from playing Gorean because it is a very strict society with new foods, words, rules, and customs that few really know about. That's why I said that anyone can join because we were all at one time ignorant beginners and Gor is fairly easy to pick up. But it does demand a sense of advanced writing, as well as a true male dominant persona that doesn't just say "You can't say no to me", but rather "You WON'T say no to me because you know better".

Okay! So just to kind of see where we are, can anyone who is officially interested post what role and region they are most interested in playing. Just to get a conclusive idea.

If you cannot honor a No, then you certainly could never honor a Yes.

tormentedmale

I'd be interested in playing a southern Slaver.

I have a fair amount of familiarity with Gor. I read most of the books in the 1980's - everything up to and including Tribesmen, some of the others in the original series after that. I haven't read any of the newer ones that came out staring with Witness. I've also done chat based Gorean RP on and off since the late 90's.

GnothiSeauton

I've read a little of the first book, and have looked into others.  It's appealed to me a little bit, and I've been giving some thought about a world like this, and in the Gor novels.

Currently I am unsure of what I would be interested in playing.  I would like to get a better idea of who might be joining, what sort of characters the group receives, and the like, before reaching a decision as to really throw my hat into the ring.  Looks and sounds interesting though.

I fucking love that man lol

And GnothiSeauton that makes sense. Hopefully the ones interested will return to confirm their interests and perspective roles.

Praxis

I would be interested in writing a Torvald-sort.

Ideally a hunter/woodsman.

I'm flexible on setting, I can make him fit anywhere if necessary.

Mellific

I'd be keen on writing a bond-maid, who would have to belong to one of the Torvald-sort. I suppose that can be sorted out after things get up and moving.

O/O | A/A | MM

Vlexia

My favorite thing to play is a bondmaid, but to challenge myself I will probably play an ex-panther girl, now collared red-silk exotic Kajira. Her transformation would be extraordinary, might even be the First girl of her Masters slaves. The story would be interesting but it will all come out soon enough.

Whoever would be interested in playing the Master who originally hosts the main plot, I would most likely belong to him. We can discuss details if anyone is interested.

If you cannot honor a No, then you certainly could never honor a Yes.

WhatLiesAbove

More I think about it, the more I think I'll play a newly-made Kajira...former free woman.

Should we put possible characters up here?

Humble Scribe

I shall go firm on the idea of playing a southerner of the High Caste of Scribes in that case.

I will create an OOC link and set it up here in a few hours for Character sheets.

I would play either a Jarl from the North, or a wealthy merchant from the South - flexible either way.
