I would like to run a game of D&D for a group of 5 or 6 players, the game focusing on a group of reasonably heroic adventurers fighting to protect civilization from the many monsters and raiders who seek to destroy it.

I'm thinking of starting at 5th level, for reasonably developed heroes with a solid reputation and decent experience or to allow people to play unusual races with level adjustments should they desire.

The world would not be a published campaign setting, but instead something that we can develop piece by piece as the players explore it.

The game would be adult in the sense that extreme violence, sex and sexuality are not restricted to off-camera but they wouldn't necessarily be main focuses of the game just occurring where realistic or where the players seek it out. NC and Kink would exist in the world and would be things that the characters may see, however each player is welcome to set limits on what their character can experience and a bit of coincidence/GM magic will see to it that nothing will happen to the character that breaks these limits (my own limits are extensive for those with extreme tastes).

Hoping to keep a daily post rate for the game, though we can organize something if some people aren't available certain days. I'll be available via MSN for some scenes if someone wants to cover their individual events more quickly but the game would mainly be via the forums.

I have virtually every WoTC non-campaign setting specific book for 3.5, I'm only missing a couple like the complete crusader or the recent cthulloid one so people are welcome to use some obscure races and classes (with GM approval).

At the moment I'm checking for interest and ideas, while I develop the game completely. Let me know if you'd like to play in a game like this and what you'd want from the game.

This sounds interesting, count me in. I am very new to DnD, and to roleplaying in general, but if you are willing to have a newbie in, im willing to learn quickly :)

Silk

Im the name as above, if youll have me im in ;D

Ixy

I'm interested in seeing how this develops.  These groups games tend to fill up fast, and I'd be very to appy to be a part-- at least tentatively.  I'd like to consider concepts for either a) a wood-elf fighter, b) a halfling thief, or c) a Tiefling (Succubus or Erinyes Blood?) bard.  I'm not 'laying claim' to these slots for two reasons: the people approved for the group will determine how this pans out, and I might not be approved anyway *grin*

Not trying to spam up your thread, so I'll PM you the concepts for discussion, if you don't mind?  Thanks for the opportunity :)

Elven Sex Goddess

I like to throw in for this.   Have a impulse to get wild and play a human perhaps.   A Swashbuckler.

Question, how would you want character builds.   Point buy,  dice?

RubySlippers

I'm game, I have to finish my current character but can whip out something fast enough. Anyone take a fighter yet?

I'm not in the mood for complex a nice balanced fighter build is always handy, a little mounted combat, some extra skill with a bow, good at a practical weapon for close combat - race is up in the air likely human but I won't rule out another race. Anyway someone has to take it for the team so the mages can use magic safely and rogues flank the baddies.
;D

I favor dice rolling it makes characters more interesting but will do anything.

Ixy

Ruby-- why the rush?  I know you tend to keep active in a LOT of D&D threads, but take your time-- there's no need to worry about "staking out" a role in the party yet, is there?  :)

Im intrested, willing to play any part in the party :)

So players can select their classes, we don't want too many of one class say three wizards. Filling key rolls should come first.

Doomsday

I'd be very interested, I've been looking for a campaign for a week or so. Also

<3 your avatar. Elfen Lied is amazing.

Thankyou to those who have responded so far expressing interest. I'll try to respond to all of your questions.

Silk, I don't mind teaching someone new and helping them sink their teeth into the fun of D&D.

Spider, If you didn't already know you can read the basic rules here: http://www.d20srd.org/ for free.

Ixy, I love your concepts, all three sound fantastic.

Asherah, I'll go with the standard 4d6 drop the lowest. People can roll the dice for this themselves, I trust people to play fair. If you don't have dice at home you can roll them online here: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm

Ruby, so far we've had a couple of people mention an interest in fighter-types. Asherah is interested in a swashbuckler and one of Ixy's concepts is for a fighter. Still, there's always room for a second fighter in a group of 5-6 characters.

Also if there is a certain role no one is interested, I can have an NPC tag along who specialises in that field, I'll just make them the submissive 'follow the party's orders' type. (Don't worry, I'm not into putting vanity NPCs in the game).

HPDDJ, nice to hear from you. You didn't ask any questions so I don't really have a response, but hello.

Now a quick question of my own.

Do people feel more interested in creating a pre-existing group who have known each other or would they prefer to meet and learn about each other in game? I have a great scenario for introducing a group of characters together, so I don't think it's a problem if people prefer the roleplaying of meeting each other for the first time.

RubySlippers

A Swashbuckler is NOT a fighter, fighters have heavy armor and big weapons and break things and kill critters.
:D

And Barbarians, Paladins and Rangers don't count either.
;)

So what slots are filled lets keep this simple"
Cleric -
Fighter -
Rogue -
Wizard -
(can include anything that fits)

I will consider a multiclass if something is needed or missing.

Caehlim

Well a fighter is really what you make them. With all those selections of feats, you can fine-tune them to your hearts desire. That's what I love about them. ... But I take your point.

So far we haven't really filled any slots yet. You're interested in a fighter, asherah's interested in a swashbuckler and Ixy has ideas for a fighter, rogue or bard.

The spellcaster classes are sitting to the side so far, unloved and unwanted.

Ixy

There's an up and downside to either side there, so I'm not completely sure which would work best...

I think it would be very helpful to have the players develop a background ahead of time, so that we can bypass the task of introduction after introduction as we gather a party one member at a time.  That, however, makes it a little tougher to predict your character's reactions to the others, as first impressions are critical

The alternative is to kick of with a single gathering-- sought out by reputation, they may have been summoned by some authority figure to be charged with a specific task.  Since you mentioned ahead of time, and I'm sure everybody noted, that the plot will be heroic-centered in that the party's goal is the protection of civilization, this would be easy to accomplish.

I'm leaning toward option number 2 there.  This requires that we have a single setting where we'd all be located... maybe having that set location would help everybody narrow down their concept?

Lets see what I roll first I'll get my dice out now -

Str 14
Dex 14
Con 14 (+1 to state at 4th Level, was 13)
Int 12
Wis 10
Cha 18

Level 5 Human
(I will multiclass the character with Fighter and one or two other classes I was thinking splashing in Bard)

Silk

#16
Well i was going to go with a Illusionist or a Bard :) If anyone has some spare time could they help me work through making one please?

GrinningHound

Could we play a LOW MAGIC game?  I would ruv you forever!

Maybe with maximum spell level of like...4?  (Meaning a Wizard couldn't go past level 7)

Then magic items and stuff could of course be more powerful, but they would be less common and crafted by gods and legends and stuff.

Eh...this idea prolly won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I'd like it.  :P

Anyway, I'd like to play a savage barbarian.  :D

Ooooooor, if we go regular magic, and don't have a wizard, I DO like wizards and sorcerors...

Spider

Im pondering a cleric (I need help with deities) or a sorceror

And the page you gave is the one I am using :)

Silk

Im going to go with druid, ill try to make a sheet myself but itll probaly be wrong <3

I will do a serious multiclass combo playing to her strengths.

Str 14
Dex 14
Con 10
Int 14
Wis 12
Cha 18

Level 5, a Human Cleric 1/Fighter2/Rogue 1/Wizard 1.

EDIT: I can do four classes we have a wizard, kind of.  ;D

GrinningHound

Hmmm still no weezard and I've been playing smashy smasherton lately...

RubySlippers

Better four classes I can fill in anywhere!

But we can use a Wizard proper.

goalt

Mrr. Game full? Is okay if it is, but if not I'm always interested in D&D.  :P
So, hey. Back now, and ready to write. Woo!
O&O

Silk

Could someone help me with my character please? ???
