Welcome to Prince Academy, a prestigious all boys boarding school located on the upper east coast of the US dedicated to cultivating the inherent gifts, skills and talents of young men from ages 16 through 19. Prince Academy is the oldest school in the world designed specifically to meet the needs of those young males who might be a bit more than meets the eye. With a long tradition of educating progeny from some of the finest families on the globe, the academy has set itself apart as an elite institution responsible for grooming some of the greatest minds in numerous fields. Those who successfully complete the program are guaranteed to hit the ground running as part of a tightly connected network though the secrets of how and why are tightly held.

Prince Academy exists in a world where magic is real. Magic flows around us, filling the empty spaces and simply waiting for those with the proper skill and strength of will to seize it. Not that normal humans would know it. They can't see it or feel it. But there are those born with special gifts. Gifts that make them more powerful (or useful) than their normal counter parts. These are the boys that the Prince Academy looks to pull within its doors. They seek to help mold and shape these young souls until they can properly utilize their gifts and achieve their destinies.

In the world there are many supernatural beings flying beneath the human radar, but for the Prince Academy only concerns itself with three classifications:

Normal - Your average Joes. They come in a variety of flavors and may hold special talents and gifts like athletic prowess or an exceptional ear for music but beyond that they are ultimately not very special.

Sorcerers - Those who can tap into the potential of magic and impose their will. The most powerful can do some truly extraordinary things, however, their magic use comes at a price. Until the age of 18 they are only restricted by their own inherent power, skill, and imagination, however, upon their ascension (turning 18) magic use takes a physical toll on their bodies, sapping their life force with each use. However, there is a way around this particular downside. which brings us to...

Familiars - Those who can see magic, touch it, draw it into themselves, maybe even manipulate it on a very small scale if they are strong, but they cannot wield magic as the true force it is. Their purpose, at least as far as anyone can tell, it to aid the sorcerers by acting as a sort of filter. Through the use of a familiar, a sorcerer's life force is replenished allowing them to use their magic with far less restriction. The greatest sorcerers in history have each had the strength of a trusted familiar to draw upon.

People are genetically predisposed to falling under a certain classification based upon family genetics. Sorcerers bearing sorcerers, familiars bearing familiars, however, the occasional familiar is born to a sorcerer and vice versa. It is also fairly normal for normals to be born to magic wielding families. Magic wielders make up less than 10% of the population, with female magic users--at least the natural sort--being exceedingly rare.




What this game is: A freeform largely sandbox game centered around high school life featuring a with an emphasis on male relationships (m/m) and a dash of the supernatural added for flavor. While this is a sandbox game there will be over arching plots/gamewide events that players can choose to have their characters involved in or not. Sex, Violence, and Drama are all highly encouraged!

~This game will be placed in the Extreme section. Non-consensual activity is permitted, however, players are NOT required to participate. Any non-con activities MUST be approved by all players involved. Anyone who violates this rule will be dropped from the game.

About the Academy

Founded in the 17th century, the academy has focuses on educating those of The Brotherhood first and foremost. The Prince Company, a front for a powerful cabal of sorcerers, sponsored the school as a trial ground for promising young blood to join their ranks. To the public at large it is simply a boys boarding school like any other, though seemingly rigorous and holding students to high expectations. As a cover they've always maintained a large number of normal students but The Brotherhood, a fraternal society on campus, inducts those of the blood and supplements their curriculum with additional lessons that will unlock their potential.

The school grounds are heavily warded against both prying eyes and uninvited guests. Visitors are welcomed at scheduled times only. This is for the good of the students as well as the Cabal itself.

The Brotherhood

The Brotherhood is known to the campus at large to be an extremely selective fraternal organization on campus that focuses on the development of it's members. They do enjoy a certain amount of social status on campus but how much privilege is real and how much is simply the perception of the student body is up for debate. They often host gatherings and are in many ways considered the public face of the school as they are often the ones to continue on to prestigious positions and bright futures.

The truth of the matter is that The Brotherhood is open only to identified magic users of great potential. Being a brother guarantees a future within the Cabal and access to power the likes of which many have never known. Though there is always a price.

Those of the Brotherhood are identified publicly by a signet ring that is always worn, and privately by a brand received after initiation. It is open to Sorcerers and Familiars only, though both teachers and staff may be inducted as well as students.

Currently Headmaster Prince is the Brotherhood's faculty advisor.

Magic Use

Magic use can cover a wide range of things, however there are basic principles that govern it's use.

-Magic, like water, follows the path of least resistance which means a strong will and mind are required to master it.

-The law of conservation still applies. Everything has to come from somewhere. For example, things like food and water cannot be created out of thin air, though they can be pulled from elsewhere.

-Messing with things like time, space, death, the soul, etc have grave consequences.

-Magic is neither good nor evil, it is but a tool. It is the will and intent behind that tool that determines what it will do.

Focusing, or Your Familiar and You

The balance of Sorcerer and Familiar is one as old as time. Yet many question the necessity of such a bond. Upon presentation as a Sorcerer, a young man (or more rarely, woman) will be able to command the many supernatural forces of this world. The years between presentation and full ascension are a time of learning, experimentation, and discipline. Here is where a Sorcerer becomes intimately acquainted with their abilities...and often questions why they should need a Familiar at all.

Upon ascension, however, a Sorcerer is often sharply reminded of why a Familiar is so direly needed. Magic is nearly always addictive to preform and this addictive property only grows with age. Furthermore, after ascension each use of unfocused magic will cause physical and mental deterioration for the Sorcerer in question. This deterioration can begin slowly. Tremors, fuzzing of vision after extended magic use, and headaches are the most commonly reported symptoms. At this stage the damage is minor and often reversible. The longer magic is used without the assistance of a Familiar, the worse these effects become. Anywhere between six months to a year after beginning magic usage without a Familiar, Sorcerers begin to experience severely lowered immune systems, rapid mood swings and depression, frequent nosebleeds, and severe migraines. Between three and five years, the Sorcerer will usually begin to suffer from failing organs, loss of vision, and hallucinations. Death usually follows shortly thereafter.

Of course, a Sorcerer may live without a Familiar and still survive. There are those whose discipline is great enough to allow them to engage in the use of magic only infrequently and in small doses. Sorcerers who choose to do so may go on to live full and healthy lives, though ones that are critically disengaged from their magical ability. At the same time, increased frequency of use and scope in magic can lead to an accelerated deterioration.

Into this comes the Familiar. Many might disparage their kind for their inability to truly use magic. Some would argue that they are able to feel magic on a deeper level due to their lack of ability. No matter where one falls however, it is impossible to deny the use of a Familiar. It is easiest to think of a Familiar's powers as being those of a prism to a Sorcerer's sunlight. A Familiar in the presence of a compatible Sorcerer will instinctively begin to draw in the Sorcerer's magic, filtering it and focusing it, before it passes through them to return to the Sorcerer. This magic is, for all intents, "purified" and its negative effects upon the Sorcerer are if not completely erased then at the very least, negligible.

The astute reader would catch a key word within there: "compatible." As in all relationships, compatibility is relative and never assured. Most Sorcerers and Familiars are incompatible. Only through long exposure and experience can either a Familiar or a Sorcerer learn how to pick out a match. Even when a suitable match is found, both Familiar and Sorcerer must work to cement the binding. It is only through familiarity that the true potential of such a pairing might be unlocked. A well matched and maintained pair are capable of nearly anything, as the history books show.

Be warned, however, against attaching oneself too early to a Familiar of only passing compatibility. The longer a Sorcerer and a Familiar work magic together the more their magical frequencies attune to one another. While this allows for the aforementioned increases in power and control, it also means that it can be nearly impossible for the two to separate at a later point in time. It is not uncommon for a "widowed" Sorcerer or Familiar to be unable to work magic with another, even if the other is compatible.

Things to keep in mind

-Within this setting, magic is real but it is not something that is brandished about without care. There are those that would seek to cut down a magic user and though Sorcerers and their linked Familiars tend to be very long lived, they can be killed. Immortality is only wishful thinking.

-Normals in the school may or may not be aware of magic. Being aware of it usually means that your family is linked to the Cabal or a Sorcerer in some way.

-Magic use is addicting, for both a Sorcerer and a Familiar. When you use your abilities the urge to do it more and more builds. That is why it is important for the young to learn control. Within the school, gross misuse of magic is a punishable offense. Don't get on the Headmaster's bad side...

-Not all Sorcerers and Familiars are compatible. The reasons why they may not be are varied but sometimes it just doesn't work out and a Sorcerer is unable to draw magic through a particular Familiar.

-Its been stated before but just to be clear, this is a school setting and while there will be supernatural elements I still want it to be somewhat realistic. Things like inappropriate teacher student relationships should be handled as such, so no skipping down the hall holding hands. Actions have consequences... if you get caught ;)

About: The nephew of Headmaster Prince, Devlin comes from a very disciplined and prestigious background. Much was readily available at his fingertips, it's true, but it was drilled into him from quite early on that just sitting on his ass and taking hand outs was not acceptable, not for a Prince. His parents are fairly strict about the standards they hold their only son to and as a result discretion has always been of the utmost importance for him. Disagreements here and there have led to the occasional incident--though nothing truly scandalizing--but for the most part he goes to great lengths to give off the impression, at least to figures of authority anyway (especially his Uncle), that he is above reproach at all times.

Outwardly, Devlin is a model student, class president, and a star athlete on the basketball team (a shooting guard) who's on top of the world and has only the brightest of futures ahead of him. There are already mentions that he will be groomed to one day take is rightful place at the head of the Prince Corporation but he does not generally entertain such discussions. His true thoughts and feelings are heavily guarded secrets that lie behind the mask everyone expects to see. He's known to be rather cocky since he knows he's got the whole package and is a notorious flirt and player in social situations (mostly because he's not yet met his match). He is generally well liked and admired by those who only see him from afar or those close enough to be in the inner circle, making his influence rather far reaching among his peers.

It's no secret that those on his good side tend to reap the benefits of rolling with someone who is naturally protective, generous (yes, he will foot the bill because he can), charming, and fun loving so long as they know how to keep their mouths shut. Loose lips are one of the quickest ways to get on Devlin's bad side (though there are other ways as well) and those on his bad side best watch out as he has a well hidden nasty streak that has certainly helped to boost him to the top and keep him there. He will go after the things he wants and use whatever means he can to get his way. He does have his own code of honor, but it's not readily advertized so it's best that others not count on it working in their favor.

About: Like all good stories this one begins on a snowy winter night. That particular snowy night was when Freyr Gunvaldsson had an affair with his familiar, one that resulted nine months later in Bjorn Gunvaldsson. Though granted his father's name, he was not granted the full privileges of a Gunvaldsson son and he was informed he never would...unless he proved to be a sorcerer. From a young age Bjorn showed a talent for magic that seemed to assure his eventual ascension. Except that ascension never materialized and he was quite easily labeled as a familiar by the time he was twelve. Coincidentally, that was the same year that his (legitimately sired) half-brother Leif was named a sorcerer.

Only a six months younger than Bjorn, Leif quickly developed something of an obsession with the idea of having Bjorn for his familiar. No one thought to object to this aside from Bjorn. Because, after all, as a familiar he was now useful primarily in the connections he might bring to the family or what uses he might serve within the family. In between dodging his half-brother's attempts at "wooing" and his father's attempts at "discipline", Bjorn began to develop some very bad habits.

All of this stuck with him well into the Prince Academy of Excellence, where he has spent the last three years supposedly in pursuit of catching the eye of some well-connected sorcerer or another. In reality, he's spent most of the time ignoring his swiftly impending and incredibly shitty future via alcohol, meaningless sex, and provoking Headmaster Prince. This is his last year in school and he's been given an ultimatum: find someone suitable to attach himself to, or accept his position as Leif's familiar upon graduation. Perhaps its unsurprising that he now exhibits something of a "live fast, die young" mentality that's likely to have some terrible consequences by the year's end.

Perhaps the only saving grace he's got is the stolen moments. You know, like that time he was found singing to one of the freshmen who'd overextended himself at magic practice, soothing the poor boy back to sleep. Those moments reveal a core that speaks to caring a little too much, loving a little too hard, and hurting a little too long. Supposing someone might be able to find that person beneath the bad boy persona and the apparent death wish, they might find themselves with a brilliant and adoring familiar.

About: As a lower middle-class nobody from a tiny town on the east coast, Gabe was the last person anyone would expect to be a powerful magic user. Gabe would never have expected it of himself, that is if it weren't for all the weirdness. That at least might explain how the community pool suddenly developed a riptide, or how all the fish in the local aquarium fallowed him around during his fifth grade visit, or why he could hold his breath for three minutes.

The scholarship that came in the mail had been a complete surprise. At their wit's end, his parents had jumped at the opportunity, signing the transfer paperwork and sending him off in the middle of his sophomore year.

Gabe doesn't fit in with most of the school. Sure, his classmates are nice enough, but they come from different worlds and everyone knows it. Dating or even finding a familiar didn't seem like much of an option, since everyone else seemed to be so far out of his league.

Powers: If sorcery were a team sport, he'd be picked last. His mastery over magic is rudimentary at best when it comes to most things. The one exception is water, especially salt water. Gabe is an aquakinetic, and any sort of water magic comes easily to him. At this point, he mainly uses this power to call up especially high waves while surfing.

About: Spencer's father was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty when he was involved in a shoot-out at a convenience store robbery.  Spencer was ten years old when his father died, and after that his mother raised him on her own.  They were very close, and they had plenty of money, because his mother was the daughter of a casino owner in Las Vegas.

Spencer loved science from the time he was old enough to use a rock tumbler, and his dad encouraged his pursuits.  They shared a love of comic books, and science-fiction, and his father often took him on various outings to visit places like the observatory, or natural history museum, and even once took him on a tour of the crime lab at the police department.

His passions have only deepened as he's grown older and now he spends a great deal of time reading journals, and conducting his own personal experiments, and dreaming about going into space someday.  His dream is to be allowed to live on a space station for a few years and conduct experiments there.  He is a straight-A student, and has no idea that magic is real.  He's attending Prince now because his grandfather, owner of The Valhalla Casino and Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, had him transferred there.  He assumes it is because the school is more prestigious than his former private school, and thus will open more opportunities for him in the future.

About: Nikolai's father is a sorcerer, and his mother is like him - just "normal". While many people would see nothing wrong with that, his father's side of the family were nothing more than a bunch of elitist jerks who decided once Niko showed no signs of any "abilities" exed him off the family list... Needless to say, Christmas was always a let down. While it's always been something he's hated, he's learn to bury at least that hurt in his life. His parents loved him all the same, and after all, it wasn't as though he was uneducated. He loved magic! Just because he couldn't use it and couldn't always see it, that didn't mean he didn't see the value in it and how it could change the world for the better.

Being shunned from half of his family gave him a drive to be the best at everything he was involved in. He was extremely organized, and his work was always done impecibily. Pulling an all nighter to finish a project or study for a test was a common thing - Thank /God/ for Adderall! He enjoys taking on multiple school projects, and piling extracurricular activities on top of it. He does exceptionally well in sports - mainly football and basketball. So, when he isn't studying or running about like a mad man trying to get things done, he's normally working out or at practice.

On a deeper level, he keeps himself busy because it keeps others out. If he doesn't have time for anyone, they can't abandon him. They can't decide he's not good enough. While he's a very sweet guy, he rarely engages in social settings, rather than chatting during down times in a class or at practice. It scares him to let someone in who might also think that his 'normality' is an affliction or a tragedy.

Other fun facts - He nearly drown once when he was eleven after a counsin pushed him into a lake and he hit his head on the side of a boat that was tied to the dock - Hence the fear of water and scar on his forehead.

I think that would be an interesting arrangement, Ice.  I don't think that one is required to play dominant if playing a sorcerer, or submissive if playing a familiar.  The relationship seems to be rather equal from what I can tell.  The sorcerer needs the familiar and the familiar needs the sorcerer.  So, really, it would just depend on the characters' personalities.

About:  He was targeted from day one. Who wouldn't if your last name sounded like a girl's name? And to top it off, no one knew how to pronounce his first, Caile (Like Kyle). First he grew up with name calling, everyone calling him Mary-done or Mary-bun. The things human nature comes up with. Amazing. But Caile was tired of it and started picking fights at the age of nine or ten, he can't remember. Fighting just became a habit, something to do and he liked it. He was then labeled a delinquent by teachers and even his own parents.

Though there was something else he knew was different than just a weird name. He had some kind of power, the ability to see things others couldn't, even touch these wispy colors. At first he thought he was just special, until he confronted his parents about it and they knew exactly what was wrong. Or a matter of fact, what he is. It was his father to be a familiar himself, finding it odd to find the gene was passed on as it seemed that only the females of his own would pass it on. His parents were excited for the news and had him try to change when he was in high school. But he didn't want to change his habit.

Seeing no end to the fighting, they decided what was best for him. And what parents do when they think what's best for their child? Think irrationally! They told him they would disown him if he continued to be nothing but a street gang boy, which in fact was leader of his own group, and be thrown out of home. Still just a teen, he didn't care either way. He just wanted to pick fights and show who is boss of his town, and honestly he was just doing the town a favor by ridding the streets of bad people. Bad people that would rob innocent bystanders, stores, or anyone they can get their pockets worth. Bad people that would harm others for their own gain. Caile only wanted to protect the town where his baby sister could grow up in safely.

Just that his parents would have nothing of it. They didn't want a child that would live his life in the dumps fighting. They wanted him to be who he is: a familiar to a powerful sorcerer and bring the name of his family up in honor. Their dream just wasn't his dream. His was to make a better world than what it was. For little Mai.

After quitting school at the age of 17, he left his family and found his own way of living. Eventually he became a teacher, applying to one for sorcerers and familiars alike. He has to win a bet, a bet for the future of his sister.

About: Austin, the son of Michael and Taissa Eamon, comes from a long line of Familiars that have attended The Prince Academy since it was founded back in the 17th century. His grandfather on his mothers side was a Familiar as well, and when it came time for him to hit puberty they realized that Austin was going to be exactly like his father and they couldn't be any happier. They informed him of what it meant and how much of an honor it was to be a Familiar, and Austin believed them. Anxiously he waited three years so he could turn sixteen and transfer to The Prince Academy, but on the eve of his sixteenth birthday something changed in him when his 'uncle' Orion (Michael's sorcerer friend) got a little too drunk and acted on a deep seated desire he'd held inside since Austin was a boy. Austin didn't have the raw power that Orion did, so he couldn't stop the man from grabbing him by the back of his neck and having his way with the teenager. That night took something away from Austin that he would never get back. He couldn't even enjoy his sixteenth birthday like he was supposed to. The over-the-top gifts just made him withdraw even more away from everyone. He left for the Academy the next day, feeling a bit easier that he was away from the man who had taken his innocence away from him.

Austin spent the next two years flying under the radar. He didn't speak to his parents much. He didn't really speak to anyone much. He made a couple of friends and tried out for the swim team though he only wanted to be on the team so he could use the pool whenever he wanted. Austin kept up his grades (with the help of his adderall prescription, some of which he sold to friends to make some extra cash) so he wouldn't draw any attention from Headmaster Prince who honestly scared him almost as much as the repeated nightmares did. At least the Headmaster was much more attractive than what he saw in his nightmares.

With his last year of school looming closer, Austin is nervous to see what the next year has in store for him and nervous for what is going to happen once he's graduated. He just hopes that the right people start to notice him, or no one notices him at all.

Cerevan is right. Being a sorcerer or familiar only dictates their relationship with the magic itself, it does not need to dictate personality or sexual preference. General 'public' expectation would be that the Sorcerer is the dominant one, but really, they can be a full out submissive. There are lots of people who are dominant and in positions of power in their day to day lives who go home (or somewhere) and to their spouse, lover, top, dom and willingly give up that control.



Also, a couple things to note...

Players can have multiple characters if they choose. It's not required but if you feel the urge, go for it.

Teacher-Student relationships - As far as this game and it's nature, such relationships are perfectly fine. (The Headmaster is in need of his very own familiar after all *cough*) However, within the game world, it would still be frowned upon as it would be at any institution and should be played as such IC.

About: Kyle's father is a skilled sorcerer and his other father is a familiar.  His biological mother was one of their best friends who agreed to be their surrogate when they decided they wanted a child.  She has always been a part of Kyle's life, and served as a large influence on him.  His sorcerer father, James, was somewhat overbearing and wanted his son to grow up to be like him.  However, Kyle always chose to be his own man, and his choices never seemed to coincide with his father's wishes.

His familiar father, Warrick, served as a buffer between James' strong, stubborn will and their equally bullheaded son.  He always ended up in the middle of their fights, trying to make peace between the two.  When they discovered that Kyle was a sorcerer, they made the decision to send him to Prince.  It as Warrick who convinced the boy that it was for the best.  He could move out from under James' thumb, fully embrace his own powers without feeling the pressure to be the man James thought he should be.  Kyle agreed.

About: Tyler is the son his father, Henry Farr, and Melissa Tourbout. At his birth however there where multiple complications with the birth that led to his mother being paralyzed from the waist down. As so many things in life his father turned to outside sources to meet his need that led to Tyler's brother. Kenrick Farr was born five years after Tyler and his birth led to compications within the household.

Tyler was the son, Henry wish he had never had, which caused huge division between Tyler and his father. So in the sense of the word Tyler was basically a "Momma's Boy." From his birth Tyler was told exactly how his life would unravel and how he would live it. He grew up as a good boy who did everything his parents ever asked him to do. He got perfect grades growing up, trained with his father in the gym everyday at 4 pm, played with his younger brother, and was basically the perfect son and brother. However life rarely remains so perfect and for Tyler that very moment when his life turned around came when he was fourteen years old.

His life fell apart when his family got into a horrible car accident coming home from a vacation. Tyler and his father the only two people to survive the horrid event. Tyler lost his mother and brother, the only two people that kept Tyler together. After their death he fell deeper into the depths of lose, using alcohol and cigarettes and drugs to heal his wounded heart. His father tried at every turn to help his son, but the already shattered soul of his son refused to even be near him. So as a last ditch effort Henry sent his son to the Prince Academy. Although his mother wasn't a sorceress herself, his father comes from a long line of strong magic, which in turn might have led to Tyler having power even though his mother was 'normal.'

Akando was born to a Native American mother and a Father with French and Spanish heritage, both of whom came from long lines of sorcerers. Both his older sister and brother are also sorcerers and it was expected that Akando would follow suit. When it became obvious that he was a familiar, there was more than just a little disappointment from his parents and their families. They held the opinion that familiars were secondary beings - only necessary as an accompaniment to a good sorcerer, maybe even more of a loyal pet or servant than a person in their own right. To have brought one into their blood line was an embarrassment.

Akando's presence caused huge rifts within the family, both between Akando and the his siblings and parents, but it also put a strain on his parents marriage, each of then blaming the other for defective genes that would cause this anomaly. Akando spent much of his childhood alone, distant from his siblings, occasionally lashing out for attention as that seemed to be the only way. The rift in his family was not only an emotional one. Akando's father and his older brother were both physically abusive and the scar that follows the full length of Akando's back is the result of his father's dagger.

To say that Akando felt he had a lot to prove would be an understatement. He was constantly fighting against the judgement of his family, desperate to prove that even though he was a familiar, he was worthy. It spurred a fierce competitiveness within him, a need to be noticed and respected and a desire to be seen as independent and capable. The idea of some sorcerer 'claiming' him in the future, to be relegated to a loyal pet, like his parents suggested, disgusted him and Akando ended up with a distrust of both familiars and sorcerers - the former for their willingness to submit (in his eyes) and the latter out of jealousy and bitterness.

Despite his tumultuous upbringing, Akando was an intelligent and initially hardworking boy. His need to succeed drove him to push himself to his limits and beyond and much to his siblings' distaste, Akando was granted a scholarship to the Prince Academy. At first, Akando, was hopeful that things would be different there, that he'd be judged less and able to be himself. But a few run-ins early on with sorcerers that shared his family's beliefs clipped that hope in the bud. His bitterness remained. He found it difficult to make connections with anyone, turning instead to antagonising his peers and fighting, constantly trying to get the upper hand and dominate his opposition. Classes seemed to be too slow for him, as well as reminding him of his own 'limits' as a familiar and it wasn't long before his grades began to slip and his behaviour in class mirrored that outside of the classroom. His scholarship is currently on shaky ground because of that.

Akando is hot-headed and prone to violence. He likes to come across as being independent and wanting to be left alone, but in reality he is very affected by others' opinions of him and wants to earn people's respect and admiration. He wants to be liked for who he is, but as he can't even truly like himself, that seems to be an impossible feat.

About: Eliseo Hammond was born to a pair of poor teenagers from the wrong side of Detroit, though he didn't stay with them for long. One call to CPS by their next door neighbors who claimed they were 'harming an innocent child' and he was taken away from his parents and put into foster care. Just like any other infant, Eli was adopted quickly and taken to the west coast. Marcia and Lucas Hammond were a military family. Marcia recently came back from duty over seas during The Gulf War where she was wounded, leaving her unable to bear her own children. It didn't take long for the perfect child to fall directly into their laps and as soon as they saw Eli with his large blue eyes and messy dark hair they fell in love.

Throughout the years Eli spent his life moving from state to state whenever they'd move his mother around. His father followed her wherever she went, picking up jobs here and there just to make enough extra money so they could put money away for their sons college education. Those plans changed when they finally realized what he was. At the age eight Eli started to show odd abilities, his large imagination seemed to make things possible that most others didn't understand, but his parents did. Lucas had attended The Prince Academy when he was a teenager because he was a familiar, so as soon as his adopted son started showing the abilities of a Sorcerer, he made plans with the Academy so he would have a place saved up for when he turned sixteen. It came sooner than they thought, and before they knew it they were waving goodbye to Eli as he boarded a plane from San Francisco to the northeast where he'd stay for the next few years, learning to hone his abilities along with his high school education.

Within his first year, Eli found someone. Hunter wasn't a familiar though, he was a sorcerer. An amazing one at that. He could do almost anything as long as he set his mind to the task which ended up being his downfall. As soon as Hunter hit 18 and ascended, he was like a pyro with a match. Anything that he could do, he would do and it quickly started to wear down on his body since he didn't have a Familiar to draw from. Despite his disapproval of Hunter's magical acts, he agreed to marry Hunter when it was made legal. Not even a year later Hunter's life force dwindled down to nothing and he faded away, leaving Eliseo with nothing but a ring on his finger that he thought meant more than what it really did. Now with his first year out of college ahead and his first year as Guidance Counselor at The Prince Academy, Eli hopes that he can help not only just the Sorcerers that could end up like Hunter, but all the other students that could be directly affected by said actions.

Magic classes are usually disguised as something else because there are normals in the school. Something like World Religion could be taken as an elective but would really cover the origins of magic and the history of sorcery in America or some such stuff like that.

About: Dorian is a very easy-going, optimistic dude. He's always been that way. He's always been upbeat and personable, and really gets along with just about anyone. He love's his job, and has always wanted to be a teacher. Being young at heart, he finds it easy to relate to students, and feels that (hopefully) as a general consensus they think he's pretty all right. Even when he's being serious, he still goes about things with a lightness and a sense of humor that makes everything a little more fun.

He was adopted when he was very young, so until he came of age he really had no clue of what he was. Thankfully, his parents figured out how to deal with the extreme weirdness of it and helped him out however they could. He attended Prince from the time he was 16 until he was 19, and he knew he wanted to come back to teach.

He recently got out of a four year relationship, and that's put a little bit of a dark cloud over his head. He had been with a woman named Elizabeth and she was the first - and only - woman he had ever found desirable in anyway outside of friendship. He had even planned on proposing. But, she said he was never going to stop being a kid, and she needed someone more on her level. So, instead of crying about it - he pawned the ring and went out to party! Sure, maybe she had a point about him being a bit childish, but, at least he was having fun. His unhappiness, for the most part, he covers up during school, but to those he is closest with he will vent. Even then, he doesn't like burdening others with his problems.

Though they had been separated for many years, they had not officially gotten a divorce and when the Sorcerer refused to have anything to do with Rygon then Gabriel and Lucas raised the boy.

As the two boys grew up together they had a competition out of everything, thus leading each other to always better themselves. When they trained with weights they made bets on who could lift more, when they played a sport they bet on who could score more points, or baskets, or runs, or touchdowns. About: Now here's a cliche story. Papa was a familiar, Mama was a sorceress, they met and fell madly in love and ran away to France. They bought a very small vineyard with horses. They had a little boy with forget-me-not blue eyes. They were a very happy family, almost disgustingly so. Leon spent his childhood being an ordinarily troublesome boy—tree climbing, brawling, leaping out of second story windows on the intrinsic belief he could fly—and proving that he had a special knack for managing animals, particularly the vineyard's horses.

Mostly it proved to be a good thing that he kept close to the vineyard. Practical styled learning always worked best for him. Dyslexia made traditional book learning difficult and besides that he was never one for the indoors. Staying where he was kept him with his family and with the horses he loved best. And so it might have gone on forever, except that shortly after his thirteenth birthday two things happened in quick succession.

First, his Mama used too much magic and became terribly ill. Second, Leon presented as a familiar.

In time Mama recovered. But then, both she and Papa announced that perhaps it was time that Leon finally went out into the world. Midway through the winter term he was enrolled at the Académie d'Alchimie in Paris. Boarding school and Paris both proved not to suit Leon. Kept cooped up for hours at a time, chastised for his slow schoolwork, bullied for his quiet nature and his status as a familiar...maybe it's not terribly surprising that he came home different. Bruised knuckles and painted skin and silver piercings marked that he'd changed. Running away from the bullies had led to an interest in parkour that only intensified throughout the rest of the year. Adopting strays from the streets of Paris and smuggling them into his room became habit. He quite frankly became an unrepentant little shit.

While he doesn't talk much about his time at the Académie, it came as no surprise to anyone when he declared that he would prefer to go somewhere else for school the next year. Papa then suggested the Prince Academy in America. Thus, Leon came tripping off the plane with bags and accent in tow.

Despite his snark, his unrepentance, and his tendency to defy authority simply to see the consequences he's usually quite tolerable. Well, assuming that no one tries to imply that he's "inferior" for his status. He'll quite happily punch out the first person to suggest as much. Outgoing and friendly, his loyalty once earned is unconditional. Given his background, it's probably unsurprising that he believes in True Love and refuses to settle for anything less. If he's a study in contradictions—which he is—then at least he generally proves entertaining in such.

About: Lucas is an all round fun and nice guy to be around. He makes friends very easily. He is incredibly lovable and always enjoys a good time. Born to Gabriel O'Donnel and Trish O'Donnel, Lucas was their first child together and by pure coincidence or divine intervention their only child together. His mother Trish had Lucas at the very young age of seventeen, before she found out she was a familiar. When she found out however, her husband, Lucas' father was no longer good enough for her, and didn't please her enough. So she left him in favor of the Sorcerer she had come to love and was a familiar too. That relationship bared itself it's own child named Rygon Humertill. Lucas grew up for many years having never even met his half brother, until the fateful day when the police came to his father with Rygon in tow and news of his ex-wives death. Though they had been separated for many years, they had not officially gotten a divorce and when the Sorcerer refused to have anything to do with Rygon then Gabriel and Lucas raised the boy.

As the two boys grew up together they had a competition out of everything, thus leading each other to always better themselves. When they trained with weights they made bets on who could lift more, when they played a sport they bet on who could score more points, or baskets, or runs, or touchdowns. Everything they did they did together and their relationship had become a inseparable one. That was at least until their relationship broke down and Rygon died of a overdose.

About: Kalen is the problem child of the McCloud family - a very old and renown family in the world of money in general. They have their own bank, own multiple companies, and have all the best stocks. Daddy McCloud likes money more than spending time with his family, and Mamma McCloud would rather get her nails done and fall all over other men to really be a mother. It's no wonder Kalen's rebellious phase started early, and never stopped. With heaps of money thrown at him to do as he wanted, he tattooed up his body, drank and partied, fucked whoever he wanted whenever he wanted, and wound up getting into a lot of trouble with the law frequently. So, like any parent with a reputation to uphold, his father sent him off to Prince, thinking that maybe being around all of the "prestigious types" might make him a more... acceptable member of society.

Despite many, many attempts, somehow Kalen hasn't gotten kicked out of school. Maybe because they know that's exactly what he wants.

Although he comes off as an ass - a very large one, at that - he really is a nice guy once you get through the crusty exterior. Once he's decides he likes you, he's extremely loyal and compassionate, however, that's a side he rarely let's anyone see. He's often very reluctant to let anyone in, feeling that once he does they'll just ignore him like everyone else in his life.

About: Play "Two Truths and a Lie" with Keahi and he'll tell you three things. First, that he was born in a stable during the middle of a hurricane. Second, that nobody (least of all him) knew that he was a sorcerer until four months ago. Third, that he's the best barrel racer on the Big Island. Anyone who knows him would have to slap him upside the head because technically he'd be cheating. All of this is true, though the third thing isn't entirely verifiable.

Native to the Big Island, Keahi grew up on the family ranch on the north side. While they traditionally bred horses for the nearby "proper" ranches, his mom had decided shortly after he was born to expand into horseback tourism. This was remarkably successful and helped to ease the sometimes-scrabble to make ends meet. Aside from having to deal with the occasional tourist idiot from the mainland and the fact that school seemed more trouble than it was worth, his childhood was practically idyllic. How could it not be when his parents were loving, his friends were numerous, and he always had horses and the ocean to keep him occupied?

By the time he hit high school he could be considered a model kid. Laid back in personality but hard working in practice, unfailingly friendly and confident but seemingly oblivious to his good looks, and most importantly the kind of person who stuck up for the little guy. Maybe his job at Starbucks made him a bit twitchy whenever blond girls with squealing laughs came around, but that should really be excusable. Still, it wasn't any surprise that he was jokingly known as Captain America. Beyond that, his future was set. He'd got to UH Hilo, inherit the ranch, and live happily on his own slice of paradise.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans. While out surfing with his friends one early morning at the end of his junior year, a tiger shark mistook him for some kind of tasty sea life. It very nearly took off his leg. Instinct caused him to lash out with his fists...and with magic. He beat the shark off him in a frenzy and despite the shark not taking his limb, it's possibly he would have still bled out if not for the magic that he unconsciously used to shove himself back toward shore. His understandably confused friends helped him tourniquet the wound and got him to a hospital, where he spent the next three weeks on bed rest after being sewn back together. Only two days after he returned home, a Cabal representative showed up at his house with the announcement that power like his was both rare and in desperate need of training.

Thus, instead of beginning his senior year at home with his friends and preparing to go to UH, he's on the mainland at Prince Academy. It's not choice, but in true Keahi fashion, he plans to make the best of it before getting the hell back home.

About: Oliver's father wasn't a very nice man.  Strong, hyper-masculine and convinced that the only right way was his way, he found the fact that his only son was a skinny nerd to be an affront to his ego.  He bullied Oliver into trying out for sports teams, called him all manner of names when the boy failed to make the cut, or, worse somehow, made the team but was destined to warm the bench without ever getting a chance to play.  Oliver actually liked sports, but his father's insistence that he play, rather than spectate, ruined his taste for them.

His mother tried to do what she could for her son, but she knew that interfering too much would only make things worse for Oliver.  So, instead she played the good cop to her husband's bad cop, buying Oliver his first chemistry set, and taking him to the observatory.  She fostered his intellectual pursuits, while his father worked to get the boy to be less of a 'pansy smart ass', and more like himself.  Oliver learned to do the bare minimum to keep his father only mildly annoyed with him, since nothing he could do would ever make the man happy, while secretly engaging in the hobbies he loved.

He would have skipped several grades in school, but his father refused to allow him to do so.  He thought that skipping him ahead would 'make him too big for his britches', and make his 'smart mouth' even worse.  At this point, Oliver knew that all that meant that his father felt intellectually inadequate compared to his son.  So, he sucked it up and breezed through his courses, taking on any extra credit he could, and privately taking correspondence courses once he started high school.  His mother paid for the classes out of her private bank account, the same one she used to pay for the cello lessons and chess tournaments that Oliver engaged in behind his father's back.

He was well on his way to a Master's in Engineering by the time he graduated Valedictorian, and received his acceptance to CalTech, and MIT.  He selected CalTech, because it was further from his father, and finally managed to wrench himself out from under his old man's thumb.  He went on to acquire his Doctorate in Chemical Engineering, a Masters in Number Theory, and another in Mathematical Analysis.  He worked as a tutor to pay for his room and board, since his scholarships and grants covered the cost of his tuition and materials.  The tutoring made him realize that he loved to teach, and so after he finished his other degrees, he acquired his teaching degree, allowing him to begin searching for a position at a private school.



Oliver's love of math and science, the basic logic of the universe, proved difficult to reconcile with the reality of magic when his mother first explained it to him.  She was not magically gifted, but her brother was, and she recognized the signs in Oliver when he started going through puberty.  It was another thing he had to hide from his father, but he didn't have much trouble with that.  While he accepted the fact of his connection to some unknowable and mysterious lineage, for most of his life he prefered to ignore it, rather than explore it.

Until now.  He chose the Prince Academy for it's reputation with the magic community, finally deciding he could no longer deny that part of himself.  Instead, he's decided to try and learn what he can about sorcerers and familiars, their relationship and magic its self.  He hopes that the better he understands it, the less it will conflict with his logical world view.



Oliver was married for six months.  He met Tucker while attending an Applied Mathematics conference in Miami, Florida.  Tucker wasn't attending the conference, he just happened to be vacationing at the time and the two met in a bar.  Oliver was there because a well-meaning, but clueless, colleague decided he needed to get out more, and had abandoned him five minutes after they'd arrived.  Tucker found him sitting at the bar, nursing a glass of ginger ale and watching other people have fun.  Neither could explain the instant spark of attraction, but they ended up in bed that night.

Tucker moved in with Oliver the next week.  And three days later they were married.  Oliver had never done anything so wild and rash in his life, but Tucker was spontaneous, exciting and dynamite in bed.  Unfortunately, they both learned that sex can not sustain a relationship all on its own.  They had nothing in common and while they remained amazing between the sheets, they couldn't spend all their time there.  Eventually, Oliver handed Tucker the divorce papers, and they split amicably, agreeing to remain friends.  And, they are still friends, but they have stopped spending time together in person.  For some reason, that always leads to sex, and then they start thinking about making another very poor decision.

It's been about a month since the official end of the marriage, and even though it was amicable and the best option, Oliver is still a bit vulnerable.  One thing he does miss about the marriage is having someone to sleep beside, not coming home to an empty house and, in general, having a partner.

About: There is a real world out there, and it just so happens to be a lot more dangerous than people would let you believe, specially if you are gifted. People have to fight for the freedom they enjoy -- someone has to, anyway - and mr. Ernst learned this rather early in life, which was never the same again. He has re-learned it a few times since, as well. This year, he is taking a break from it - a clean one, at that - to try to clear his mind off things.

Originally from the other side of the pond, few people know much about him, though he’s come with the best references from the european system. The name sounds german, though he has little accent to speak of unless he is tired, angry or otherwise affected enough to forget, and he isn’t truly forthcoming with personal information with those outside his closest circle. Regular students and faculty will see him as fair, if serious, and usually not one they can get away with things around - when he wants something to stop, he addresses it only the once. About: Hyeon is a Korean American of 17 years old, he has been a student now for a full year thus making this his second year. He is one of few Asians in the Academy itself. Constantly teased, known as a teacher's pet to some extent and semi-degrading terms such as being called " Wifey " or " Waifu " are quite common as he is metrosexual and enjoys baking and so on. These joined kind of making the joke, specifically with him being a familiar as well to be a good wife for a sorcerer. This all mostly getting a surprisingly short tempered backlash from the boy with a short fuse who generally doesn't bug anyone. However he seems to be learning to accept it and just be calm. Outside of academic groups, Hyeon doesn't appear to have any friends. Most are intimidated by his high grades and silence, or just don't take him seriously as he is a familiar and so petite.

Outside of school, Hyeon has been raised and born in America. Rarely visiting his family in Korea unless with other family on short term trips. His family is just above middle class but, not quite rich just decently wealthy thanks to his father being the stereotypical Asian businessman and his mother a psychologist. The boy himself however has been indulged in artistic and academic things from a young age by his own choice. He can play the piano decently, though he doesn't practice anymore as he grew burnt out at a young age. He sketches however quite often as he gets done with work so quickly within class. More recently however his artistic and creative outlet has been creating people on The Sims 4, sitting upside down eating Popsicles and humming Lana Del Rey songs to himself! Ugh, life.

I've been lurking. I was curious what do you need more of: Sorcerers or Familiars? I think I did some skimming and I saw way more familiars than sorcerers, so I've been leaning toward sorcerer to even things out.

Yes, at the moment we have roughly 13 familiars to 7 sorcerers, though we also welcome normals and have a good smattering of them. However, just because there happen to be more familiars right now does not mean we wouldn't welcome some more if that suits your fancy more. :-)

I have a teacher, a sorcerer student, and a familiar student, but now I really want to make the teacher over the student role because I already have a face claim for that role. I had found one for the sorcerer, but idk...the idea of playing a teacher who could possibly have a forbidden affair with his student(s) is way more attractive.  :P

About: Mr. Challenger comes from a long line of sorcerers. Both of his parents were sorcerers and it was inevitable that their child would be. When he came of age, he attended Prince Academy and graduated with honors. His familiar at the time had feelings for him. Unfortunately, he didn’t share the same feelings though he found their bond to be rather interesting. His familiar vanished one day and nobody knows where the young man has gone. Arthur doesn’t talk about it, and when asked, he denies ever having one despite how illogical it may seem.

The teacher is mild-mannered in mannerisms. He doesn’t have an outside voice and no one has ever seen him smile. There isn’t much known about him among the students and even some of the faculty members. As far they know, he’s a very average guy.

He goes for a long run every morning, swims in the evening, and when he’s off, he enjoys a game of golf and a hike.

About: The Manderoy family are a proud and arrogant line of sorcerers who considered themselves the power behind many thrones in the old days of Europe, their American descendents carrying on the tradition with secret control in the corporate world. Jacque Manderoy and Kateline Manderoy (née Leone), Connor's parents, carried on the full tradition of old money power-players while considering themselves cornerstones of the magical world. Their first three children, one boy and two girls, showed the expected signs of magical talent and power from a young age. Their youngest, Connor, was seen as a disappointment when he seemed a mere normal child for most of his life. To the Manderoys, normal children were something that happened to other people and Connor was considered a secret shame of the family. They lied to anyone in the magical world that Connor was their adopted nephew, from a lesser bloodline of the Leone's known for producing familiars rather than sorcerers.

Connor was still given an expensive private school education at more normal institutes, generally boarding schools that kept him away from the family as much as possible. He knew about the existence of magic even though his family excluded him from most discussions about it. He mostly considered himself lucky to be born without magic, after seeing some of the worst sides of magic from his family and their friends. The pride he felt in his own normality came crashing down recently though when the cold-burning ember of his abilities flared to sudden life. His family immediately pulled him out of the normal school which he loved, taking him away from all of his friends and even a boyfriend that he had recently started a relationship with. He's been put directly into the Prince Academy and isn't entirely thrilled about meeting an entirely new group of people and being forced into the magical world.

Connor doesn't know much about magic yet, despite having an inborn power with it and isn't quite comfortable using his abilities yet. He prefers his more normal hobby of music, loving to sing and play the guitar or drums. His voice is high-pitched, putting him in the male soprano or countertenor range. He loves art of all forms, although he's never been especially good at the visual arts. His studies focus on music, drama, english and french by his own choice, his family has insisted though on him being enrolled in all subjects which are a cover for magical education.

He still goes by the name Connor Leone, his father dropped some hints about maybe changing his name to Manderoy now that his talent had manifested but so far that conversation hasn't gone anywhere. His father was still a bit uncertain about acknowledging Connor as his son and Connor has started taking pride in the Leone name even though it's not actually his own.

Awesome, I look forward to playing with you as well. This game looks like a real blast and I find the magic system and social classes it creates intriguing. Picked sorcerer partly because it seems to even out the balance a little, but also because I liked the idea it gave me for the character's backstory. A character with reluctant power seems really appealing to me.

Samuel was born to young parents from Detroit. They were troubled youth, selling and using drugs, and finding themselves in desperate situations. After a few run in's with the law, the pair attended a help group that was particularly inspiring, and from that point on they decided to live a life devoted to God. Shortly after, Samuel's mother discovered she was pregnant with him. The couple got married and moved to a small, Christian town in Utah, away from any temptation to lead a normal life. Demons, however, tend to come back to you eventually.

Sam spent most of his time in Church. He loved Choir and always participated in plays. The Priest of their Church - Father Andrew - had taken Samuel under his wing, almost as a grandchild he had never had. Sam was extremely sheltered and sensitive. And as he grew older, his parents grew more and more afraid of what he would experience; As he started to show abilities they became even more scared of what he was. That's when their punishments became stricter, going beyond a simple grounding to locking him in his closet, forcing him to read bible verses. His father had started drinking again, and with that the problems only escalated, especially whenever Sam was caught staring at another boy for a little too long. The punishments turned into taking away his food, burning symbols and words into the boy's skin in an attempt to help rid him was whatever evil spirit was taking hold of his son. Though Sam felt like he wasn't bad, that he wasn't evil, he started to believe it. He spent all of his time at church, and when he wasn't at church he prayed at home that he would be healed. That whatever was processing his body would leave him, and he could be just a normal kid.

Father Andrew had seen little glimpses of what Sam was becoming, and he had seen some of the after math of his parent's attempts to change him. But Sam had never expected a holy man to sit him down and explain to him that he was not evil, that the devil had not crawled inside of him to destroy his life and everything around it. God had given him a gift; A gift in which he could do wonderful things with if he so wished. "Samuel," He said to him, calmly as he filled a glass of water for the boy. He placed the pitcher down, and gave a simple wave of his hand, the candles on the table a few feet away from them suddenly sparking to life. He smiled gently at the boy, "Do I look like a monster to you?"

Life from that point changed. Father Andrew went to Sam's parents, both in an attempt to fix things for Sam, but also to allow him to get away from such a toxic environment. The priest informed them a school he went to when he was their son's age, and would help shape him into an extraordinary young man and help him develop his talents for the better. He made Sam sound like he was a prophet. And he offered to pay for everything. Before he knew it, he was out of Christian school and going to Prince. Granted, he was starting a bit late - starting off in his junior year - but even then, the culture shock is real.

About: Junior year. She found a handsome French man named Cilan Deveraux, and fell into his bed many times over the week. He wanted her to stay, but she couldn't so they parted ways when her time in France was over. Lo and behold, he got her pregnant and without any way to communicate with him, she gave birth and raised the baby on her own, making barely enough money to support the two of them on the wages of a struggling artist. She knew nothing of the world Cilan came from, so when Tempest started to show weird abilities, she did everything she could to get him help, believing there was something wrong with her son. After many therapists they couldn't afford and medication that made him sick and caused them even more financial issues, his mother started to crack. Lilly resented everything about her son, and blamed him for the misfortunes brought upon them. "It's a curse" his mother would repeat over and over again. Her own issues (mainly bi-polar disorder and being manic depressive) started to take over her. Tempest was always at fault in her eyes. She never spoke of his father, refusing to acknowledge that the man ever existed. Since Tempest knew he wasn't the product of immaculate conception, his anger and fear towards his mother grew exponentially. He knew it was only a matter of time before she snapped completely, and at the age of thirteen his mother almost committed the ultimate betrayal against her son, attempting to take his life.

She kicked him to the ground when he didn't finish all of his kale salad and tried to gut him with a kitchen knife, but he put up his right hand just in time. The pain was enough to trigger a power greater than he ever thought possible, and his mother was unexpectedly pushed by a gale force wind out the window of their fifth floor apartment. A few hours after her death - which was deemed an act of suicide due to depression - Tempest grew out of the guilt and focused on what would happen next. He wasn't ready to adopt the 'orphan' title and as it turned out he didn't have to. As if his father could sense that his child was in distress (though he had never met him or knew of him) he showed up in the states a few days later, begging for a blood test to determine himself legal guardian of his son.

Cilan took Tempest back to France with him where he'd introduce him to the side of his heritage the carried magic deep within their veins. There Tempest met his grandparents who helped him learn French which didn't take long since he had always been an exceptionally smart child. He stayed with his father for five years until he graduated from the same academy that his father had, the changing of his last name helping out a great deal when he was looking for Colleges to attend. Tempest moved back to the states and went to college there, graduating with a degree in education, another in English lit, and the last in French. With his father having so many connections, he landed a job at the Prince Academy in the states, quite near to where he went to college. Cilan wanted his son to come back to France and teach at the Academy there, however Tempest didn't want to live in France. It was a great place to visit, but he knew he didn't belong there. He still shows his father the utmost gratitude for taking care of him when he didn't have anyone. For every break and holiday, Tempest takes the first flight over to France where he'd wait for one of them to tease him about never bringing a guy back with him, and then embrace him with all of the love his mother didn't show him and then some.

About: Declan was a late bloomer at sports, always keen but he was a small and scrawny freshman. Each year he's managed to bulk up, becoming fitter, stronger and hotter. He trained as hard as was physically possible, controlling his diet and activity and centering his entire life around sports. He was certain that senior year was going to be the height of his college sporting career and thought that this time for certain he would make captain of the team. Then during the summer he broke his ankle on a training camp. According to the doctors he's unable to play or even train for months without risking permanent damage.

Dreams of being a sports star lying shattered he's examining his life and trying to figure out what else there is about him to fall back on. Everything has been about his performance for so long. He's turned down all relationships at the school for fear of being distracted, he's found no other hobbies and is scared to find out whether he has anything else in him. While not dumb necessarily, he's never been as focused on his academic work and only managed average grades so far.

While he's hung out with the fellow athletes and jocks at the school, he's never developed close friendships with them off the field and been very stand-offish focused so completely on winning and playing the game. He's starting to realize just how few true friends he has and how little chance he's given other people to get to know him. That said, he's not sure what they'll find out if they do since he barely knows himself right now.

About: Stefan is Connor's cousin and actually is from the lineage that Connor only claims to be from. Although their families lie about the specifics, they are still cousins the family tree just isn't quite the same as everyone's been told. Stefan doesn't know the reality of the situation and believes Connor to be the son of his dead uncle and not the son of his aunt and Mr Manderoy. In this case however, Stefan developed much more as expected showing signs of being a natural familiar from a young age.

The Leone's are a modestly wealthy family of some significance in the magical community, their tendency to produce so many familiars amongst their children has resulted with inter-marriage between them and a lot of sorcerer families and a network of alliances. At the same time their tendency to be magically more submissive has stopped them from ever being serious power-players. It's kept them in a fairly comfortable position that's lasted for several centuries though.

Stefan was home-schooled up until he was old enough to attend Prince, with his mother teaching a class of himself, his seven siblings and a couple of cousins (not Connor though). Because of his large family, he's not socially unskilled despite the homeschooling environment and is quite comfortable around others. They were trained extensively in magical theory, and although lacking in power themselves have been taught to be a good adviser to whatever sorcerer they are paired up with.

Stefan has been raised to expect to be part of an "arranged marriage" between himself and a sorcerer for the benefit of his family. He thinks the whole thing is a bit daft and silly, but is quite happy to go along with it (which is basically his stance on everything else in life as well). His plans for the future focus on basically being a trophy wife and magical tool for a sorcerer so he doesn't have a lot of focus on his school subjects, just picking whichever ones sound interesting and trying to have fun with them. He started at Prince last year as a freshman but spent a lot of time in remedial classes and hasn't gotten to know everyone in his year level yet. Rather than having any fixed friendship group, he tends to wander between them, leaving for a while when they seem to get sick of him.

About:  Ashford comes from a long, noble line of sorcerers, stretching back to the Victorian age and then some.  His father is something like 35th in line for the throne, so while their family title is quite impressive sounding, it really means very little.  His father and mother are kind people, but neither really has the time, or the temperament, to be a loving parent.  They try, but it's simply not in them, so Ashford was raised by nannies, housekeepers, the butler and the chauffer.  Those unique circumstances led to him being aware of his noble heritage and proud of it, but not uppity.

His love of opera was sparked and encouraged by his Italian nanny, who would play records and sing while she cleaned up his play room.  He started singing along, and his voice was surprisingly good for a nine year old boy.  It didn't take long before he was getting vocal coaching from a former opera singer and training himself to be the next Klaus Nomi.  His parents were pleased with his artistic pursuit, but they wanted to make certain he didn't ignore his magical heritage in the fervor of his newfound passion.

There was little risk of that.  Ashford's magic revealed its self around puberty and he embraced the power that came with his new abilities.  He could often be found roaming his family's estate grounds, trying to do anything and everything with his magic, learning his limitations and pushing himself to reach beyond them.  He knew that it would not always be so free and easy, after all.

About: Growing up with his mother on a farm in a small town in the middle of nowhere, Julian was raised on stories of his father the hero who had served in the army and died before he was born. Julian had no idea that they were lies to cover a father who had run the moment he'd discovered his girlfriend and high-school sweetheart was pregnant, nor did either he or his mother know that his father had been a sorcerer. Inspired by these stories, Julian joined the military as soon as he was old enough turning, becoming the living embodiment of the virtues and actions his mother had invented with one exception. He has recently taken another job, now working as the Head of Security for the Prince Academy.

I figure he's had a few years of training and grooming to be a magical bodyguard. Between ages 18-25 serving in the military, 25-29 recovering from his uncontrolled magic and learning how to use it. He probably doesn't know the finer points of advanced magical theory or how to manage long complex rituals but he knows fast and dirty attack/defense magic very well. His main weakness is he can't use his full strength without finding a compatible familiar, but I'm thinking the school might be a fairly good place for that to be solved.

About: Two generations ago, a familiar somehow popped from the Carrington line. After a lifetime of being hushed up the young man in question simply left home and headed as far south as his car would take him. He ended up in a little no-name town in South Carolina, settled with a nice normal girl, and started a family. It was only when little Will popped up babbling about the shine of magic that Grandpa realized it might be time to rethink his life choices.

Of course, for Will it didn't matter much. He was more concerned with Little League than his Grandpa's existential crises. He put up with tutoring in magic the same way he tolerated his Mama's insistence on going to church. For all intents and purposes he had an extraordinarily normal young life; he played sports, rode his bike too fast, and once tried to catch a rattlesnake with his bare hands. Though a touch more solemn than the average child this didn't stop him from being fairly popular at school. And, given the fact that he was a familiar, there was nothing to say his life couldn't have gone on just so into adulthood.

The problem, of course, was middle school. That was around the time that he realized he wasn't just looking at girls with shiny hair and shiny lips...he was looking at boys with lean muscles and lean smiles. Immediately he shut the thought away. It was too late. Kids were observant and someone noticed. Word got around school that Will was gay. As happens in small, no-name towns, he slowly became a pariah. It didn't matter that he got a girlfriend in eighth grade or that he was the best pitcher their county had seen in fifty years.

Bullying never went too far. He was strong enough and quietly confident enough that those who might have tried never got up the guts. Prince Academy proved to be a good choice...except for the other Carrington. Percy didn't much like his cousin and frequently makes Will's life hell, if only behind closed doors so no one will make the connection that they're actually related. Nonetheless, Will enjoys his new school. Playing football in the fall and baseball in the spring keeps him constantly on the move. Classes are engaging. And most of all, no one seems to care which "team" he bats for.

Still, he can't run too far from his past. Despite it being out of style, he's been unable to shake his dedication to southern chivalry and to hiding his sexual preferences. About: Cameron Croft had always had a good relationship with both his father and his mother. He always enjoyed going on hunting trips with his father as well as helping his mother whenever she needed to go to the grocery store or cleaning around the house. From a young age he held the promise of being a Croft sorcerer and he proved that true when he hit puberty, showing off his magical strength in earthly ways. Most of the time it was just small quakes when he would take a step, other times he'd wake up surrounded by sharp stalagmites that would go away once he willed them to do so. After a while he gained control of himself, but that wasn't until his younger brother Jamie was old enough to start showing whether or not he was going to be a sorcerer. Cameron didn't figure out that his little brother actually turned out to be a familiar until his parents pieced it together and filled him in on the situation. It didn't change the way Cameron saw his little brother which was a smart, young man with all the promise in the world even though Cam was influenced by his father to try to 'toughen' up his younger brother. Contrary to Jamie's belief, Cameron loved his brother and didn't want anything to change Jamie no matter what, he just didn't know how to say that to someone as stubborn as Jameson Croft. Of course, distancing himself from his family was something Jamie was better at than they thought, so Cameron gave up trying and instead focused on everything that was going on in school, with girls, and with sports.

Cameron made his name in the Academy of Excellence by being a star athlete. From his sophomore to senior year he was starting quarterback of the football team, pitcher for baseball, and "one of the best damn three point shooters in Academy history" according to coach Stubin. He decided that he wanted to be a football coach once he started going to community college. His girlfriend Mina got a place with him after he graduated, and they lived together for two years after he graduated. Cameron spent most of his time between school and work, hardly ever getting to be home with Mina, so after three years of them being together they mutually broke up after she admitted she hadn't been faithful to him. Though they went their separate ways, they still stay in contact as good friends. She was the only girl Cameron could completely trust and he was the only guy who could make her toes curl and they didn't want to completely lose each other because of one mistake.

Now, with his younger brother in the Academy, his father has convinced him to apply for a coach internship at the school so he can 'keep an eye' on Jamie. About: You can't control how you're born or who you're born to. Dylan was born as an identical twin child to members of a fairly extravagant welsh cult that followed very dark paths of magic (calling themselves Cŵn Annwn). Along with his brother Lleu, they were seen as fulfilling a fairly vague prophecy that the cult read way too much into and took far more seriously than was justified. They were named after twin Celtic gods and raised to be the familiars of the cult leader, an enigmatic female sorcerer known as The Morrigan. Growing up in a cult was strange enough without being perceived as messianic promised ones who would someday fulfill the cult's prophecies.

Their mother, while originally a loyal member of the cult who had taken on the name Cerridwen upon joining, had begun to doubt her role in the cult and how they would use her sons. It didn't help that over time they'd tried to strip away her connection to the boys, claiming that they belonged to the whole movement and not any one member. She managed to hold onto Dylan the longest, since he had suffered from a long bout of illness as a child and it was enough of an excuse for her to keep him with her while Lleu was off being groomed for his position in the cult.

Cerridwen managed to eventually make contact with the Cabal, a group that was opposed to the Cŵn Annwn cult and made arrangements to be smuggled from Britain to America in order to go into hiding from the cult. It was a harder sell to convince her sons that they leave with her. Dylan was for the idea of going to America with their mother, while Lleu wanted to tell The Morrigan about their mother's betrayal. Eventually Dylan managed to persuade his brother to come with them, although he remains reluctant.

Now in America they have been placed within the Prince Academy as a secure location to keep them away from the cult that raised them. Their mother is in hiding somewhere else organized by the cabal, although neither of the two brothers know exactly where. They've taken to calling themselves "Dee" or D and "Ell" or L. Dylan enjoys it as a way of separating themselves further from the cult that raised them, while Lleu is just happy to go along with his brother's 'pet names'.

It was quite unbeknownst to him—he could feel magic now, but its presence in Rio de Janeiro was so present and overpowering that it registered more as an illness than as something supernatural. Only then an American Familiar on vacation with his bonded Cabal Sorcerer noticed Thiago and the way he seemed to draw in magic. The way he, in fact, was drawing in and filtering the magic constantly. As though attempting to create order to the cacophony of magic that was Rio's streets. This Familiar, David Quinn, and his Sorcerer approached Thiago about his issues. The rest, as they say, is history.

The Cabal paid for Thiago to come to America and he was quickly shuffled into Prince Academy. Unspoken but high hopes were placed on him—that he would bond with an equally powerful Sorcerer and proceed to pay the Cabal back with his ability to process large quantities of magic. Alas, despite succeeding beyond wildest dreams in the realm of academia...well, he just wasn't compatible with any of the Sorcerers. While he left the ambient magic of Prince Academy quite well ordered upon graduation, there wasn't a single Sorcerer in the ranks who could say they'd felt the calm and focus that came from being compatible with such a strong Familiar.

Indeed, this continued to plague the young man no matter where he went or whom the Cabal tried to pair him with. Upon gaining his second doctorate in classical languages at the age of twenty six, he finally called off the hunt for a "suitable Sorcerer" to pair him with. It was, he told them, a lost cause. Better to allow him to do what he was so clearly meant to do—translating ancient manuscripts and reordering ambient magic. Though reluctant, the Cabal did ease off for a bit.

And so he spent the next few years traveling the world and having flings with normals and Familiars. In sheer spite he avoided Sorcerers. Why bother, after all, when they'd want something from him he could not give? Eventually however the Cabal came back. If he couldn't grant them what they wanted by bonding with a Sorcerer, then he could share his knowledge with the next generation of students at Prince Academy. Though less than thrilled with this prospect he agreed to do so. Of course he was aware that they hoped being cooped in a small area with constantly rotating, powerful, Cabal approved Sorcerers might cause him to find someone compatible. But if it made them happy and kept them off his back, he could handle it.

Thiago, despite his increasingly defiant outlook toward the Cabal, is a very quiet natured sort of person. He enjoys his languages, his books, and his cat, Socrates. While somewhat aloof toward Sorcerers, he is most often kind to the people around him. Between his wicked sense of humor and his vibrant interest in any number of topics he can be quite the conversationalist. He tends to have a number of friends but rarely allows anyone truly close for reasons he keeps to himself.

About: In spite of appearances, Jean-Louis wasn’t born into money. Son to a rather disreputable single mother, he grew up near the south-side harbor in Marseille, amongst mangy cats and brassy whores, eating what he could find when he could find it - most often not at all. It was this gnawing hunger that led him to his first taste of the gift far earlier than most, and has ever since. He learned through trial and error; the first and maybe hardest lesson being that of secrecy and concealment. Others couldn’t do what he could, and that would make them Danger; he became Danger himself for a while. 
His fascination with food led him to work with it - with magic sometimes, but mostly without- and by the time he turned eighteen he had already a brilliant future ahead of himself -- and a need for the high of Magic that would have had him dead in six months, had nothing changed.

But it did change at last during military service, and after,  as he found himself delving into a narrower circle, he absorbed everything he could from the new acquaintances he made. They call themselves the Order, and the ordeals to join are intense indeed. There he rose quickly nevertheless, incorporating what the other sorcerers would give away to what he had worked out on his own while not quite sharing his doubts as to their more dogmatic views, never quite accepting ‘truth’ as face value but rather drawing his own conclusions one at a time. He melded into the mundane world, using his gift to fuel his motion and slake his hunger. Jean-Louis opened his first restaurant at twenty-one, and sold it at twenty-two for a huge profit, then moved on to the next town, and the next venture. This way he travelled, all over the world he would say,  finding new flavors and combinations -- culinary and magical both.

He opened his Saint Martin’s restaurant almost five years ago, and for the last four he has been putting off selling it. He likes it here, he can always travel to his other projects when needed and keep this as his ‘pied-a-terre’ of sorts. For some time now he has been responsible for the dining at the Academy as well, acting as head chef; he handles the staffing,  menus and purchasing, often showing up for a check or to lead the team during special events and functions.

About: Benjamin was always a quiet awkward nerd, from a relatively normal family, as far as he knew. Sure, his family had some history of mental illness and health problems; but that wasn't that uncommon. He had two brothers who were more popular than him, but they got along well enough. He continued through public middle school excelling academically, while failing socially. He preferred to spend his free time lost in the woods or a good book.
   
  When it came time to go to high school he thought he'd go to the public school like his older brother. But he'd got notice he'd received an academic Scholarship from the Prince Academy. His parents could never have afforded such a place, so he jumped at the chance. Once there it was revealed to him that he was a sorcerer. He was a bit incredulous at first, but it made the mysterious mental and physical health issues that plague his family make perfect sense. Whether his family ever knew that they were sorcerers was unknown to him, but they were an old southern family and unlikely to share such a thing had they known.
   
  He wasn't even sure how the academy knew he was one, but somehow they had. It turned out he was actually an incredibly powerful sorcerer, but not without cost. It seemed his families gift was very strong, but also tore at ones sanity as well as the body. The medical staff speculated that it could be the strength of the magic that caused the mental problems, but he also knew his family tended to be intelligent sensitive people, prone to issues to begin with. Either way it certainly shed light on why his family were powerful sorcerers, but not one of the powerful families; and certainly not part of the brotherhood.

   His circumstances meant he rarely practiced magic, even before he was 18. Instead he studied the theory of magic extensively. He also studied science extensively, and he loved when he could pair the two. He'd managed to create a venus flytrap that could talk, but mostly it just said 'Feed me, Seymour".
   
  He'd recently turned 18 and he couldn't perform magic at all. It took far too much out of him to even try a little. His head would hurt and he'd lose days in a mental fog. The counselors were eager for him to find a familiar, but he hadn't yet. He was  too shy to find one on his on. The one guy they tried to pair him with threw up the first time they tried to perform magic together. They said that usually didn't happen, and so not many were eager to be his familiar. He was considering a career as a scholar of magic or a magical botanist, "Herbologist" to use the Harry potter term, so he wouldn't have to perform magic.

   So he continued to study magic without performing it. He particularly loved the schools botanical gardens and it's vast collection of magical and mundane plants, and he'd often volunteer there. That along with his long walks in the woods, kept him in good shape. He was tall, fit, and fairly handsome but his shyness tended to keep him out of the radars of others and ultimately single. He was definitely intelligent, but he also had a warm empathetic goofy side that he didn't often show to others.
