Avernum: Escape from the Pit(pathfinder seeker thread)

Summer time means fun time! While I am still working and being awesome, I don't have the extra stress of school anymore for the next 3 months. Which means more naughty D&D here! Here is the basic premise of the story:

You have been banished to the underworld, never to see the light of day again.

The surface is ruled by the cruel Emperor Hawthorne, master of the Empire. All of the known lands are subject to his brutal command. Everyone who speaks out, who misbehaves, who doesn’t fit in is cast into the dark, volcanic pits of Avernum, far below the surface. There, you are expected to die, a victim of starvation, horrible monsters, or simple despair.

But not all of the Avernites have surrendered. With magic and steel, they are forging a new nation deep underground. You can join them and fight for safety. Or freedom. Or even, if you dare, revenge on the surface-worlders who tried to destroy you.

This isn't going to be your typical underdark, far from it. Not even going to have drows.

As for game stats:
- Level 3.
- 5d6 epic roll.
- No money and no starting gear. Since you are prisoners getting thrown into a portal of doom, so why would they allow you to keep your shinies? Which means no holy symbols or spellbooks. Magic down in the pit is rare and the few wizards who get thrown in and survive are going to be very well powerful because of it.
- No psionics.
- The weirder/sexier the race the better. All the more reason to throw you into Avernum and out of the human controlled surface world.

Wow, fancy finding an Avernum game here. I still remember my first time spent with Exile III demo back in the late 90s. I might possibly be interested in this. What other races are supporting? The Slithzerikai are endemic to the Exile (where the nation of Avernum is situated) rather than the surface and both they and the Nephilim are technically anthros/furries. Are you okay with that?

Also, for anyone interested in the setting, Encyclopedia Ermariana is the place to go snooping.

Yeah I just started playing the steam remake and throughout it all I was thinking was, 'Holy crap, this would be awesome for a D&D setting! It has all of the maps and towns and dungeons done for me!'

I am perfectly fine with anthros, as I have to ponder the inclusion of the Nephilim into the party. I suppose that a stray Nephilim can join up with the humans and fight his own kind. Depends really on the individuals motives and back plot. Plot fixes everything!

Goto plothook.net, they have a pathfinder sheet system there, and all you have to do is sign up and so on and so forth.

5d6 epic means roll 5d6 and drop lowest two and reroll ones and twos. I like my players to be nice and beefy so they can't bitch later when I throw funny stuff at them.

You could be the straight man, that sighs and shakes his head at the antics of the others and how they just do not care about this situation. Cleric something fits that nicely.

I can totally play straight man to the comedy group...Cleric can work, but heal-botting is boring, so I'd be making a grumpy, no-nonsense battle cleric if I did that.

Meh, you still have spontaneous healing and channel energy, so going battle cleric works just fine.

Absolutely love Pathfinder, but don't really know what Avernum is, though I'd absolutely love to try and find out. Only thing is that I've never really done any play-by-post stuff anywhere else and this is my first post about RP here  :-[

The trick is to know when it is your turn to post. If you think or even slightly assume that it is your turn, then it is. Too man games stall by people waiting on others without saying so. You have to be conscious about this and know when it is happening to you.

I've actually had another idea, instead of a grumpy cleric - I haven't had a chance to play a Witch yet in PF (er...Warlock? Whatever you'd call a male witch). You said we go through without any of our gear or equipment, but a cute cuddly kitty cat shouldn't have been terribly out of the ordinary (and Avernum has animals anyways, so they must have let pets through at some point). Not their fault they don't realize it's a familiar.
