Welcome to Tetso.

In myth, Tetso, and specifically the Krakkulon Bay it surrounds, was the region where man and pokemon first came together as friends and learned to live in peace, now reflected in the nature-centric lifestyles of its inhabitants. But today, it's home to one of the largest stadiums in the world, the Seastorm Championship Stadium, connected to the massive, island-based Seastorm City. The stadium has been hosting countless events and expanding for over half a century, attracting some of the most powerful and famous trainers from across the world to spectate, promote events, and, of course, challenge each other thunderous battles. It was the central and perhaps only establishment for organized pokemon battles in Tetso; until recently.

Six months ago, seeing the need to give local trainers a chance to train and grow without having to enter themselves into events that were out of their league, four former Gym Leaders from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh came together and formed a new Tetso Pokemon League, choosing eight local and visiting trainers to set up brand new Gyms for trainers to test their mettle at! With the new League in place, the brand new Elite Four constructed a Pokemon League headquarters just south of Seastorm City and locked themselves away, leaving the new Gym Leaders to train and grow along with their challengers, and to do their parts as the new unofficial guardians of the region...

Things to Know:

So, if I didn't make it clear enough, the majority of the characters in this RP, i.e. the ones you playing, aren't going to be just any old trainers, but the budding Gym Leaders of this original region, who will actually have to train and increase both their strength and the quality of their gym challenge! I'm currently cooperating with a member of a recently failed Pokemon RP to help make this as organized as possible, with an Event system and everything to keep giving players goals, but here's a quick run-down of some of the important details:

-This is a freeform, semi-sandbox RP. There will be a central story, but characters will be free to move around wherever and the main plot will gradually become more important down the line. There will be no stats or levels, but players are expected to be truthful to what their pokemon can do based on actual base stats. I'm considering making it so that all moves learned are just kept forever to remove the micromanagement of remembering the movesets for an entire team of pokemon, but that's still undecided. Bulbapedia will be the main source of information on moves that can be learned, stats, and whatever else.

-A new region means new pokemon, along with ALL currently existing pokemon (no "Gens 1 and 2 only!" here). We won't go overboard, but I have two or three original Legendaries in mind for involvement in the story and the lore. Beyond that, I was considering including these, along with any original pokemon you can suggest:

Fakemon (especially the last page)
Additional Eeveelutions

-Depending on their preference, each player may not only design their character, but also their gym challenge, the town they live in, and even the surrounding landmarks and dungeons if they wish. If not, the GMs can just do it for them.

-Until we have all eight Gym Leader slots filled, I will accept a MAXIMUM of two non-leader characters, for people who don't really feel like playing a Gym Leader. Once we have all eight slots filled, people are free to play whatever.

EDIT: I'm opening this up to all characters now, Gym Leader or not.

Once we get a few more votes of interest going, I'll throw up a character sheet template, and we can start building our new region! For now, if you're interested, just say so and make sure to claim what Type you want to specialize in. So far, the following are taken:

Various (so GL characters MUST specialize in something)
Grass
Dragon
Fire
Dark
Fighting
Psychic
Poison

Also, while the following aren't explicitly taken, they are discouraged to avoid redundancy with our Elite Four characters. If you really, really want one, let me or Ember Star know and we'll work something out...again:

Ghost
Electric
Steel
Normal

Details on choosing your starting team will be up shortly. So, do we have any takers?

Character Sheet:

Name:
Age: Being that this is a new Pokemon League, it's reasonable to expect most of the Gym Leaders to be younger.
Appearance: Pictures are welcome, but not necessary. If you don't include one, be sure to be detailed with your description.
Specialization: Mandatory if you're playing a Gym Leader.
Orientation: Might as well include it. Any are welcome, but feel free to leave it blank if you haven't decided yet.
Personality: Keep it simple if you want, but remember that this will probably reflect on your character's Type choice and the style of Gym Challenge they instate, as well as their battle methodology.
Hometown and Region: If they're a local, you don't have to include the town, unless you've already thought of a name for one.
Background: At least a paragraph or two would be appreciated. Especially important is their trainer history, how they came to choose their Type, and probably how they got noticed by the Tetso Elite Four.

Starting Team: Since they're all new Gym Leaders here, and we want some sort of progression in the RP, here are the rules for your opening team:

-One first stage pokemon and one second stage (mine being a Turtwig and a Gloom, for example).
-No second stage starters or pseudo-Legendaries (i.e. you can have a Charmander or a Dratini, but not a Charmeleon or a Dragonair, at least not until the former evolves).
-A second stage of a two-stage family or a pokemon with no evolutions or preevolutions is acceptable for the second slot.
-Pokemon that seem too powerful may be denied. (I wouldn't want someone starting with a Rhydon, even though it's only the middle pokemon in its family. A Magmar might be okay, though.)
-Include their moves. The first stage can start with three, the second stage can start with four. Keep it as something they would learn under level, say, 20 or 25, or by TM if it's not too strong.
-For the sake of making this less confusing, without special permission, you may only nickname your character's primary pokemon (or just one of your choice).
-No legendaries, obviously.

Latooni Subota

Hmm. While I normally don't tend to do sandboxy games since I like heavy gm involvement/control, this is actually kind-of a nifty concept. I'm not sure if I'd try to leap on one of the two trainer slots, or make a Gym Leader though . . . hmm. I can guarantee that my Gym Challenge would probably be pretty weird, or annoying, to the poor trainers though!

Mid-posting Edit: Okay fine, I totally want to be a Gym Leader and design my own area and town and stuff! Hahaha! Has anyone chosen which towns they want yet? Are we free to request a town added in a certain place, or another landmark? Still thinking up my Gym Type though.

Trust me, it's not going to be that sandbox-y. Aside from meeting up with other characters, the majority of a Gym Leader's movements are going to be to respond to Events, which will be either put in place by GMs or requested/suggested by players. Events can be calls for aid by the locals, challenges by trainers, challenges by prospective GLs who want to take your place, and so on. Basically, since GMs will be organizing most of the random battles/trainer encounters, expect a ton of involvement on our part.

So far, the only town that's taken is the small town that's furthest east on the map, which I'm using for my character. Other than that, you're free to any of them, and yes, feel free to request one in a new location if you have a good idea for it. I also highly encourage you to think of landmarks near by, since every town should have stuff to do around it.

Latooni Subota

I think I'd get a kick out of going as a Dark-type gym leader, since there haven't been any in canon before. I also wouldn't mind claiming the big city to the north of the stadium, since Dark Types feel like they'd fit in well in a big honkin' city. Which I'm starting to have ideas for . . . The city and the area north of it was mysteriously 'sunk' through unusual earthquakes waaay back when, creating all sorts of underground ruins and tunnels. Rather than move away, the people built up a new city on TOP of it, and history continued on from there. Basically, there's the city on top, the sewer systems and stuff the next layer down, then under that there's all manner of tunnels and collapsed ruins and things that may or may not have cool things in them. Think that's something we can work with?

Edit: Also, northern edge of the map? We should totally have a Safari Zone. I'd love to mess with a Safari Zone. :3

Sylia

Hrm, I'd like to say I'm interested in doing a fighting type gym. Not too sure on the details juuuust yet, but I figured I'd put my interest in first. Also, is it okay if I import the general idea behind my character from another pokemon game I was in? I just really liked her and she was a fighting type trainer.

Revenent

Latooni: The only thing I had in mind for the big city to the north was that there would be access by ferry to the Stadium, as I want at least three routes leading into Seastorm City from the mainland. But I don't see that being for you idea, which I like a lot. ;D It would actually work rather well with the lore of the region, too, as a sort of echo of events from the past that created the bay in the first place. So yeah, I'm fine with that.

As for the Safari Zone, sure, why not? My character, an aspiring Pokemon Professor, is already going to be working out of a wildlife reserve, but's that more like a Safari Zone minus the safari, so having both should be fine.

Sylia: I have no problem with that. Gym Leaders are quite varied in terms of personality, so just about any type of character can be made to work.

Should I put you both down as confirmed participants, then? Asking mainly so I know if I should edit the thread title.

Latooni Subota

Heck yeah :3

Maybe rather than a straight-up Safari Zone, it can be more of a Casino/Resort area. The big city tries to get tons of tourism via the ruins for intellectuals, the casino part of the area for the gambling/rich types, and the 'Safari Zone' part where they ship in all sorts of pokemon (or hire trainers to catch pokemon for them in exchange for some traveling money, hint hint) so they can have contests of people trying to catch the pokemon and stuff. Sort of a 5 trainers enter, whoever catches the best one gets an extra prize, sort-of thing. Kinda like the Bug-Catching Contests, only  . . . MORE. XD

Latooni Subota

I'll work up more details on the city and related areas when I get the chance, but here's a character sheet for now!

Name: Elly MacDougal
Age: 22
Appearance:

Specialization: Dark
Orientation: Bisexual

Personality: Self-Centered. That's the biggest thing about Elly that you'll notice. As one of the 'priviledged', she's grown up to be rather lazy and sort of a pain. The world is supposed to revolve around her, and you should understand that. She tends to get bored easily, and wander off to do any number of things as long as it's something that can hold her attention. She's fairly cat-like in that regard.

Hometown and Region: Douglasberg City, Tetso Region.

Background: Elly is quite possibly the wealthiest girl in the entire Tetso region. Her family goes all the way back to the founding of Douglasberg, and were the people that over the years have made the city what it is. Growing up as a little princess with all of her needs and wants fulfilled . . she was pretty damn bored. The girl took up wandering about the ruins that Douglasberg was built over, when she finally found something interesting: wild pokemon! The ruins always seemed to be a magnet for Dark-type pokemon, so she found herself quickly growing to like them.

A bit of pouting and "Daddy~"-ing managed to convince her father to expand his shiny new casino and resort, to have battling facilities and a Safari Zone installed so she could have fun. Since this was the first time in years that she'd actually showed initiative, he caved in, and to his surprise the city became even MORE popular! In the years that followed, Elly was revealed to have a rare talent when it came to catching and battling pokemon. She was difficult to read, and nearly impossible to panic, so she managed to win battles that should have been all but impossible. When word of her skills reached the Elite Four, they granted her the chance to open up her very own Pokemon Gym in the city.

Starting Team:
Scraggy
Attacks: Low Kick, Faint Attack, Brick Break

Krokorok
Attacks: Rage, Bite, Sand-Attack, Sand Tomb

Don't worry too much about the city just yet. I'm going to have a separate thread later listing details of each city and the Gym challenges for those that have Gyms. For now, just take your time to go over the details in your head.

The profile looks good, excepting your starting team have four and five attacks respectively, instead of the three and four that were allowed. Work that out, and you should be good to go. :-)

Latooni Subota

Whoops, that was me not re-reading the instructions properly. Lol

I'll work on mine tomorrow! I'm still trying to decide what fighting types I wanna use.

ShadowFox89

Name: Natasa
Age: 19
Appearance: .http://safebooru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=857705
Specialization: Psychic
Orientation: Bi
Personality: Natasa is driven and fierce, throwing herself completely into any project she sets her mind to. She doesn't like being told no and can have a dangerous temper when provoked. Most of the time, however, she keeps her temper under control.
Hometown and Region: Slateport City, Hoenn
Background: Natasa was born in Slateport City in Hoenn, the only child of two former trainers. Living around pokemon her entire life, her psychic potential was obvious from the age of four. Natasa spent years honing her psychic ability, focusing on telekinetic and empathic abilities. By her 16th birthday, Natasa had left Slateport on a boat headed to the Tetso region, leaving everything familiar behind, with the exception of her two pokemon that she received as eggs.
Natasa traveled through Tetso until she arrived at Reinso city, which was under attack by a swarm of Beedrill. With the aide of her Meditite and Ralts, Natasa was able to drive off the bug pokemon. A member of the elite four [steel trainer's name] was watching. Impressed with her skill at handling the swarm, s/he offered Natasa a position in the fledgling pokemon league. Natasa accepted, and soon started working on constructing her own gym.

Starting Team:
Meditite ♀ - Level 10; Bide, Meditate, Confusion, Low Sweep
Ralts ♀ - Level 10; Growl, Confusion, Double Team

What makes you say that? I don't see why anyone else would have an issue with it. And if they do, they should probably say something now.

Revenent

Water is available again, and we have one Gym Leader slot open again. It turns out the person we weren't sure was joining or not can't take part. Hopefully we can find at least one more person to fill the position, and hear from a couple of our reserved players soon so we don't have to find more. If you happen to know any Pokefans who are reliable and decent posters, and who would be interested in this sort of thing, you know what to do.

Any of the available Types (those not listed in the original post) is fine. There's no premade Gyms or anything.

Alright, I'm on it.

How do you feel about a cybergoth running an Electric gym?

EDIT: Disregard that, probably going for Poison since we have an Electric trainer in the Elite Four.

Also, I had an idea for another big city. This one could probably find a good spot on the western portion of the map.

Astorpoint City
Smog and neon are the two most prevalent things on Astorpoint City’s skyline. Soaring skyscrapers house apartments and businesses near the city’s center, while more squat buildings that form intricate alleyway labyrinths house clubs, those who aren’t looking for a high-rise apartment or a penthouse, and the occasional warehouse. On the outskirts of the town are its factories, their smokestacks spitting smog into the air and drawing in all sorts of Poison Pokemon to feast on the industrial waste.
The sort of city this would be

These last two cities seem to be going against what I said about the locals living very closely with nature, but maybe that can be sort of a running theme with the three large cities on the map (and maybe the mega-large Seastorm, to some extent). I certainly think it's a good fit if you're going with a Poison Gym, so we can roll with it.

ShadowFox89

Hmm... Not sure about a city for Natasa...

Maybe one where lot of meditating and getting in tune with yourself is involved.

On the other hand, I can set to work on dreaming up some nice little hippie sorts of places if you'd like.

I'm not too worried about it, to be honest. I think it makes more sense for it to mostly be the smaller towns that are more in tune with nature, anyway, like White Forest, or maybe something like the White version of Opelucid City.

DRoux

One thing I'm curious about for the bio section...

You mentioned types in the first post, but who makes up Tetso's Elite Four?

Fair enough. Here we go then, language vague enough so spoilers are unspoiled for all.

Name: Elouise Fairchild
Age: 19
Appearance: See left
Specialization: Poison
Orientation: Bisexual, but prefers girls.

Personality: Likes  trying new things, but will often stick to what she knows, looking for patterns that she can use to her advantage. She is playful and fun-loving, but making her angry is generally a bad idea, as she is quite capable of holding grudges. Other than that, she is bubbly, upbeat, and generally a happy-go-lucky girl.

Hometown and Region: Astorpoint City, Tetso Region

Background:  An Astorpoint native, Elouise grew up with the big city as a facet of regular life. During her early years, she lived in an apartment with her parents. The first Pokemon she caught at the age of ten (with her father’s help) was a Zubat that had been separated from its colony and ended up dangling from their upstairs neighbor’s windowsill.
Years later, when she was sixteen, she picked up a job clearing out anything that happened to clog factory smokestacks, usually a Koffing, with the help of her now-evolved Golbat. She caught one of them, as opposed to chasing them off as per her usual job, and started training it alongside her Golbat.
Come the age of eighteen, however, she decided that she wanted to do a little bit of travelling, and see the region. She did a full circuit of Tetso’s towns and cities, with Douglasberg City in particular reminding her of her home. She spent a few weeks there, traversing the city’s underground ruins, when she met the Elite Four’s Ghost Trainer, also exploring the underground. After a friendly chat, and guessing that she would have to be a decent Trainer to make it as far from the surface as Elouise was when they met, the girl was extended the invitation to join the new League as Astorpoint’s Gym Leader.

Though now I've noticed all four people who joined in from this topic are playing female characters, and my co-GM is playing a female character, so that puts us on a one-to-five gender ratio until we hear from our remaining two. Shouldn't be an issue, though.

Oh, and feel free to include the nickname of your character's main/chosen Pokemon in your character sheet if you already have one in mind.

Occident

May I ask if merchants are allowed? Perhaps a researcher for whatever large company is in the region? That or set up some spa area or breeding center.

Revenent

Sure, though my character (who I will put up a sheet for soon) is already a researcher and aspiring Pokemon Professor who focuses on the effects of cross-breeding pokemon, so you might want to be careful about overlap.

Occident

I will wait to see what sort of projects your profile mentions and avoid similar things. Though having them overlap at one area and start to compete for funding might be interesting for later on. Would your character have a sponsor?

Revenent

I don't know. I think he would probably be funded by an accomplished Professor, if anything. Most likely Elm, since he's an expert on breeding.

Revenent

Sorry for taking so long on this; a busy couple of days kept me from thinking about the details as much as I wanted to. Once we have another profile or two up, I'll get a character thread, and then we can start to do some work with our towns and gym challenges while we wait for the rest.

Name: Cedric Oleaster
Age: 24
Appearance: See left.
Specialization: Grass
Orientation: Hetero
Personality: Cedric is a quiet and thoughtful man, preferring to think through almost anything he says rather than blurting something out and risking sounding like a fool. Outwardly, he seems strong and perhaps a bit distant, but has lingering confidence issues over mistakes he's made in the past, especially when it comes to training pokemon. It's difficult to earn his full-hearted trust, but because so few have it, he'll fight to the death for whoever does.
Hometown and Region: Driftveil City, Unova Region
Background: Driftveil was not the best place for a mind like Cedric's. While the city was a great place to find work, prospering from both the region's central dock operation and Clay's mining company, the young man wanted more than to just be a laborer for the rest of his life. He saw how pokemon worked alongside the miners and the dock workers, but wanted to learn more about the psychology of pokemon: why they were so willing to help humans, and what made them all different, yet so similar and easy to befriend. By the time he reached 16, an answer was brought to him, but not the kind he expected. Men came to his town and preached that pokemon were really not happy with humans, but enslaved and miserable. He was told they needed to be rescued, and he made up his mind to join the fight.

Cedric received his first pokemon at the same time as he left Driftveil for the first time of his life, and he was immediately set to doing the dirty work of this new group. He didn't understand how his seemingly harmful actions could benefit the pokemon population as a whole, but he believed he was learning the truth about their nature, and did whatever he was told as he sought more truth. Unfortunately, by the time he came to his senses and realized he was the one enslaving and hurting pokemon, justice had come for them, and he was a changed man; not even Clay, who he had known all his life, and who has father had worked for for decades, recognized him with his new uniform and attitude. Abandoning his pokemon to be returned to their trainers, Cedric fled his home as an outlaw, believing he would never be able to raise a pokemon again.

Time made the difference, though. He traveled around for a year or two in flight of his past before he came to Kanto, where he found a poor Oddish being poached by two awfully familiar men in black uniforms. He took the two men down before they could manage to get their own pokemon out and left the Oddish to go free again, but, strangely, the little weed creature decide to follow after him instead, much to his chagrin. It was while trying to get this pokemon to stop following him that he was discovered by a man named Oak, who questioned why anyone would not want the friendship of such a kind creature. Of course, Oak could see the answer in Cedric's eyes; he saw a damaged man, plagued with self-doubt and loathing for his past, but there was still a spark beneath of someone who wanted to become more, to learn more about pokemon and create a better world with that knowledge. Despite much resistance, he managed to convince Cedric to become a research student.

With the help of Oak, Elm, and various other Pokemon Professors (along with his friendly new Oddish, Priscilla), Cedric gradually started to trust himself with pokemon again, eventually accepting an offer from Professor Elm to perform a research project for him. The locals surrounding a wildlife reserve in the distant region of Tetso had agreed to let Elm set up a new lab on the site to study effects of cross-breeding, especially among Grass pokemon. Having taken a great interest in the Grass type himself, Cedric agreed and departed to perform research on his own, not nearly a Pokemon Professor in his own right, but on that road nonetheless.

A visit from the friendly Elite Four Steel trainer eventually presented an opportunity for Cedric to get even more funding for his and Elm's project. With the hearty approval of the locals, he converted part of his lab into a Gym, deciding to dedicate his challenge to making trainers realize the importance of trust between them and their pokemon.

That particular fakemon list? No. But I have seen some elsewhere that I may incorporate. I just want to discuss it with my co-GM before making any final decisions, and she has her hands full with real life at the moment, so nothing's set in stone yet. Totally interested myself. I'm working on a male, though I definatly could use my female from another pokemon game, tho I'll have to see..

I absolutely love those new eevelutions, aireon, eeveleon, and eartheon are so cute! hehe well I'll have this up very soon.

Welcome aboard. ;D I look forward to seeing what you bring to the table.

Wolfy

Hmm...I hope I may be allowed to join....

Though I'll have to do up a profile later tonight, after work.

Revenent

The more the merrier, Wolfy.

I know it's a fact of life around here that people will inevitably drop out or just disappear entirely, so I'm kind of stockpiling players right now so that we'll at least have enough to keep the Gyms filled, hopefully. I do have some big ambitions for this game that I haven't even talked about yet, so I want to make sure it keeps going.

Revenent

I'm sure there's probably a website somewhere where you can just put in level, Effort Values, and Individual Values to figure that out. Stats likely aren't going to be a huge deal in this game, aside from relative base stats (i.e. whether it would hit better with physical or special, how resilient it would be, etc.). I don't think I'm going to include a level system, though there may be something in place for unlocking attacks and evolving.

Acid Lips

Revenent

Yup. Adding you would bring us up to 12, so I may allow one more before closing it.

Acid Lips

I will see if I manage to come up with something, not sure though yet.

Karasu

I should have it up later tonight  are anime pictures accepted or must they be real pictures? cause otherwise I'll have to find a new pic XD
Removed, due to vandalism.

Revenent

Considering this is based on a video game/anime/manga, it would be rather silly of me not to accept anime pictures. :-) Honestly, I tend to prefer anime/drawn pictures for that reason, but people are free to use whatever they like best.

Acid Lips

Do the rules of the opening team apply to both trainer and gym leader?

Revenent

Unless you had something different you wanted to pitch to me for approval.

Acid Lips

mmmm it can be any starter pokemon right?, how does the battle system work?

Revenent

Any starter is fine, yes; even the three included in the first Fakemon listing. And there is no battle system, this is basically freeform. All you have to worry about is what moves you have available to you and how you can write them into a post.

Acid Lips

let me think about it, I am really not sure what to make if I join

Revenent

If you need any help or a second opinion, just let me know. I'm not going to be overly strict so long as no one is overpowered.

Shadow has the right of it. You can specialize if you want to, but it's not necessary. I know a couple people in the previous RP even specialized in things like "defensive" and "status effect," so you're not limited to Types in that regard, either. It's totally up to you if you want to do it at all, though.

LeSane

I was wondering if you were still accepting Trainers. I read this and found it highly fascinating, and I was tried of lurking about in wonder so I felt I should just come out and ask.

Sure, Scar (Scare?), there's still room. But yeah, like Shadow said, the 8pt font can be a bit difficult to read.

Wolfy, the limit's three moves for your first stage pokemon, so the Solosis will have to drop a move. Other than that, looks fine so far.

With a possible (hopeful) 13 members, I'm going to close this off for now, at least until I hear whether Acid Lips wants to join or not for sure. I'll just ask everyone to keep working on their profiles for now, while I organize some things.

Well, you'll have opportunities to run into pokemon on your travels (both canon and "native" Tetso pokemon) and capture them, so you can always catch some and switch them out as you catch ones you like more. Likely, I'll have people work out their "endgame" team at some point so me and my co-GM can make sure you catch all of the ones you really want at some point. I'm just more concerned about organizing the profiles and towns out for now, though.

This isn't going to be a system game, when it comes to combat or catching pokemon. I wouldn't mind there being some sort of side thing at the Stadium where people can go and fight each other with that system for some added fun, but the main game stuff is going to be freeform.

I don't see any issue with that. If a player or two wants to start off in possession of an egg, too, that would be fine. This is just a starting point, after all.

Hometown and Region: Tetso, South Point town
Background: Katsuo was born in South point town, a small town that is located at the south tip of Tetso. He could always see the lights of the stadium from his ocean side window and his best friend, an Eevee named Toshi,  always stood by his side since he had rescued the poor pokemon a year ago.

At 10 Katsuo left home with Eevee, and received his starter pokemon, Kindlemurr. I'd say just look and compare with other Fire starters, stage one Fire types, and rodent-like pokemon, then decide what moves you would want to go with that would fit. If you're having trouble setting up a moveset after that, just let me know and I'll help out.

The profile looks pretty good, though. :-) The one thing I'm going to ask you to change is to drop either Dig or Shadow Ball as one of Toshi's moves and pick something a little weaker. I'm okay with him having one move of that power level, but I'd rather him not have two to start with.

ShadowFox89

I was going to go Kirlia, but Kirlia evolves around level 28. And because we are only given 3 moves for our 'mons (4 for one of them), it wouldn't make much of sense. Bad enough that she's only got 2 mon >.<'

I said this at the start, but levels mean absolute, 100% nothing here, so you don't really have to worry about that. And in any case, there are plenty of gym leaders in the games who have "impossible pokemon", ones that are evolved when they're too low-leveled to be evolved, so just go with what you want.

It would be kind of boring to start with a full team of six straight off, though, wouldn't it? Then you don't have anything to work toward. :-)

I'll put the OOC up tomorrow so everyone who's been approved or is working on their profile can come and chat, and hopefully discuss an idea I had for a progression and reward system, to see if everyone was okay with it, or they had better ideas.

On a last note, Ember told me she was going to send out PMs to those who have expressed interest but still not done a profile or responded recently, but since I haven't heard from her and don't have confirmation that she did it, I'll do that tomorrow as well. LeSane

I finished the profile if you have any problems with it please let me know. I tried to incorporate a few aspects from an old region so his back story would be more sound.

Name: Cain Dormaz
Age: Twenty
Appearance:
Cain Dormaz
Specialization: None.
Orientation: Bisexual (Leans toward women more)
Personality:
Cain can be highly sarcastic to people he does not like. Most don't see his tone as such until way later. Which in turn people will start to detest him bit by bit until they see him as an a-hole. Being like this is a defensive mechanism meant to keep others from getting to close. Despite all the traveling and battles done by him. He can be fairly relaxed which his pokemon love about him due to this. Most trainers constantly want their own to push forward which make them dislike any kind of growth with the trainer. This part of him makes them more rested and willing to do as he asks. One of his finest points is the level of loyalty he has for others as well as his team. No matter what he'll stick by them. Abandonment is never an option so the saying 'Stuck with me til the end' is a truth.

Hometown and Region: Sootopolis City in Hoenn
Background: He was raised in Sootopolis with his mother who came to live in the place because of its beautiful nights as well as the chance of exercise which all in this town had. At a young age Cain had been introduced to pokemon by riding on the back of a Lapris which was his mothers first companion in her travels. As he grew older his interest shifted toward other types due to trainers coming to see the gym leader Wallace for the badge one needed to compete against the legendary Elite Four in his region. At the age of ten Cain's mother decided his father should be an active role in his life, and was sent on good faith.

It was in Rustboro City where his father worked as a scientist reviving fossil pokemon that was once extinct surprised his son wanting to know more about the past for its number of prehistoric wonders. Here he learned about the other types that he would encounter whilst going to school. When turning fifteen the research department at his fathers work received a new fossils from Sinnoh. Two Skull fossils which had been found by a gym leader/ miner in the Underground. Eagerly Cain begged his father to let revive it to see what kind it beheld. On that that day a set of  Cranidos both male and female came to be. His father studied them, and even evolved them to Rampardos for years those two kept Cain's interest wanting to have one of his own. After about nine years of living with his father the young man decided that he should become a trainer to travel the world and become a better person.

As a gift by his father he received an egg from the two Rampardos who had breed with one another. The duo were reluctant to part with their offspring, yet allowed him to have it as well. When it hatched the baby Cranidos was wild having a bit of a temper. The natural  blue tone like its parents had been altered and was now red and gray. The second gift had been one just as great a trip to Tetso a newer frontier in which he could hone the skills needed.

Starting Team:
Cranidos

Smack Down
Is a damage-dealing Rock-type move introduced in Generation V. It is TM23 as of Generation V.
In battle
Smack Down inflicts damage. If the target is airborne, Smack Down forces it onto the ground, removing the effects of Magnet Rise and Telekinesis. Smack Down makes its target vulnerable to Ground-type moves and Arena Trap even if it is Flying-type or has Levitate. This effect lasts until the affected Pokémon switches out.

Headbutt
Is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation I. It was TM02 in Generation II.
In battle
Headbutt does damage and has a 30% chance of causing the target to flinch

Take Down
Is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation I. It was TM09 in Generation I.
In battle
Take Down does damage, and the user receives recoil damage equal to 25% of the damage done to the opponent.
If the user of Take Down attacks first and faints due to recoil damage, the opponent will not attack or be subjected to recurrent damage during that round.
Self-inflicted recoil damage from Take Down from the previous turn can be countered if the opponent does not make a move on the following turn. If Take Down breaks a substitute, the user will take no recoil damage.

Croagunk

Pursuit
Is a damage-dealing Dark-type move introduced in Generation II. This move has the highest possible priority value of all moves.
In battle
If the target Pokémon is switched out on the turn Pursuit is used, Pursuit's power becomes 80 and will deal damage before the Pokémon is switched out. This does not apply if used on an ally switching out.

Faint Attack
Is a damage-dealing Dark-type move introduced in Generation II.
in battle
Faint Attack inflicts damage, and is unaffected by modifications to the Accuracy stat or Evasion stat. It will not hit a Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of moves such as Dig, Fly and Dive.

Swagger
Is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation II.
in battle
Swagger raises the target's Attack two stages and confuses it. Should the target already be confused, or be protected by confusion due to Safeguard, Swagger will still raise its Attack. Pokémon with the Ability Own Tempo are immune to both effects. Because the target's Attack increases, they will receive more damage if they hurt themselves.

Venoshock
Is a damage-dealing Poison-type move introduced in Generation V. It is TM09 as of Generation V.
in battle
Venoshock inflicts damage and its power will double to 130 when the target is poisoned.

Looks well-done for the most part, but for the sake of balance early on, I'm going to ask that you remove either Revenge or Venoshock from Croagunk's moveset. I don't feel comfortable with anyone having two mega damage attacks right at the start, even if they are situational.

True, but predicting exactly when your opponent is going to switch to a different Pokemon is more difficult than predicting when they're just going to damage you, which is most of the time.
