I got 36 700, which isn't bad for a second language.
"Bugbear" made me laugh, because I misread it at first. Then I started thinking whether whoever created the owlbear got inspired by a dictionary.

Also, I'm now thinking I should create a character who likes using big, bombastic, 50-cents words, because pomposity is underrated and mere 25-cents words mean you're selling yourself too short

I love archaic words. Worst was a couple of the church words that I sorta knew what they were related to, but not their exact meaning. Not bad for a 'second language'.

Can't actually wait for people to be addressing folk as: "Oh, you bibulous caitiff. Begone with you and the tureen full of verdure offerings left on my shoes."

That’s absolutely fine. I don’t think I can get to 1000 in any language that isn’t English. It’s very frustrating if I need to actually achieve anything.
