I'm not 100% clear on how Betazoid eyes look, so whatever you can do to make him look convincingly enough like one, that'll be fine with me.
Considering a permanent retirement from Elliquiy, but you can find me on Blue Moon (under the same username).

In Trek canon Betazoid's iris's are completely black, although I guess they don't have to be in our story.

I'm not opposed to that at all, I want him recognizable as not human as easily as possible. So if they are full-on dark, let's go with it. Also, I know Troi wore that weird jumpsuit that didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the crew's three color scheme but I think since their mutual field is basically medical, he should be a blue shirt, right? Or am I missing something?

Basic Info
Name: Otwin Miiro
Species: Betazoid
Planet of Origin: Betazed
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Officer
Rank: Lieutenant
Major: Psychology/Psychiatry
Command Role (if applicable): Ship's psychologist/counselor

Physical Description
Gender: Male
Age: 27 (nearly 28)
General Description: Youthful appearance, semi-serious face, fit, brown-haired, fair-skinned; would pass for human if his eyes were covered, otherwise his all-black irises betray his Betazoid origins

Other Information
Orientation: Straight
O/O: Pretty much only offs matter; excessive violence/pain, blood/injury, vore, and being the submissive. Everything else is fair game.
General Description of Personality: While so far completely successful at keeping his professional attitude during the appropriate times and occasions, in his off-duty he is extremely erratic, sometimes being a bit too impatient or sarcastic even to his friends due to his Betazoid characteristic of taking in emotional stimuli from all the sentient beings around him. Does come across as a bit lonely and depressed if not being actively engaged in conversation or in a place where many have gathered.

Skills
Skill 1- Telepathy and mind-reading. These skills are much more effective on fellow Betazoids who can also communicate telepathically but he can get glimpses into the surface thoughts of others if he focuses hard enough and they are actively thinking of something at the time.
Skill 2- Empathic sense. Whether a being is corporeal or not, able to communicate or not, or is lying about how they feel, their emotional state can be felt and interpreted with complete accuracy by Betazoids like Otwin. Things like feelings of rage and hostility can give him a heads-up if danger is around the corner.

History
Otwin's father died shortly before his birth on Betazed, which made him an only child and his mother become extremely overprotective of him. This did not bother him so much in the beginning but once his telepathic powers developed in preadolescence, he began to find it tiresome and consider his mother a meddler and worrywart. Frankness being common on Betazed due to the inability to hide untruths from one another, Otwin became extremely sarcastic in response to his mother's constant prying and couldn't get out of the house fast enough to join up with Starfleet and have an excuse to be as far away from his mother as possible. Not wishing to deal with other Betazoids for a while, he began education on Earth and, having only had limited contact with humans and other races while on Betazed, he found it much more peaceful and easy to deal with others' thoughts coming in without expecting responses or knowing he was hearing them. As it turns out he was not alone in having serious family drama and found it fascinating the sort of problems his schoolmates had and was able to make friends rather easily through his own prying, though this had the regretful drawback of making it difficult to form and maintain romantic relationships; he often wondered to himself, "How the fuck did mom and dad make this work?!"

Eventually he settled into what seemed like a natural field of study for him, psychology, later studying psychiatry and disorders that he could diagnose and treat, as well as methods of therapy and rehabilitation for the troubled or mentally ill. His field of expertise brought him into much more intimate contact with patients and he began to experience a bit more of their emotions being shared with him than before, often interfering with his own emotional state, though never to the point where it got out of control. But this has made him less prone to make close friends and yet the isolation is also an undesirable result, leaving him in somewhat of a no-win situation. However, he has seen so much good being done by his work that he believes it is worth the inconvenience and, knowing there are beings out there that are immune to probing by Betazoid telepathy, he awaits the day he can meet someone that he both finds appealing and with whom he doesn't have to worry about secrets being heard when they would rather not be.

What you think? he look okay?
The definition of a hero, at least in my mind, is someone who can protect what is right. To change and stop the wrong. To fight against the forces that seek to destroy you. And, at the very least ... live life well, and enjoy it with those you love.

Here's my first take. I greatly appreciate input and criticism. My experience with Star Trek is 4 and a half seasons of TNG and the Abrams movies so there might be some inaccuracies.

First edit, 6/10/15: Added more information about her time at Starfleet Academy, her motivations for choosing her post, more information about her previous assignment, also fixed her rank, she's technically a Lt. Co. Corrected her major and minor.

Basic Info
Name: Loda Yshtoll
Species: Deltan
Planet of Origin: Delta IV
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Officer
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Major: Probability Mechanics, Minor in Security
Command Role (if applicable): Chief of Tactical/Security.

Physical Description
Gender: Female
Age: I'm not seeing any record of how Deltans age. Going to assume similar to humans, so let's say 30
General Description: Loda is a somewhat small woman, standing at 5'5", 106 lbs, but she's stronger than she appears to be and twice as fast as she should be. Her head (and the rest of the body, minus her eyebrows) is completely bald, but besides this common Deltan trait, her people are nearly indistinguishable from a typical human. Her body is a light tan, her eyes are very dark brown, as are her brows. Her petite form is well displayed by the tight-formed Starfleet uniform she wears, a yellow collar an indication of her station.

Other Information
Orientation: Bisexual
O/O: See player O/O's.
General Description of Personality: Loda is a quiet woman, not prone to conversation unless specifically engaged, and even then, might appear disinterested or distant, even if that is untrue. She has an interesting and perverted sense of subtle humor, more inclined to tell jokes that would make you slowly grin than to bust your gut laughing. Even in moments of dead seriousness she usually has a sarcastic or playful lilt in her voice. "Firing all torpedo banks, captain," she might say in a tone that has earned her reprimand for being flippant before, though she takes her role as chief of security/tactical more seriously than most perceive. Every once in a blue moon she has her bad or cranky day; a Deltan, such sexually liberated people, under a vow of celibacy is a recipe for frustration and loneliness and sometimes she can't help but snap at others, especially considering how many people are inclined to take a pass at her and tempt her to break that oath.

Skills
Skill 1- Aikido. She is an excellent martial artist and capable of handling most opponents unless significantly overpowered.
Skill 2- Painting. Loda is an artist masquerading as an accomplished Starfleet officer, and has taken many commissions from the people on board her ship for portraits, usually keeping a copy for herself for very personal reasons.
Skill 3- Calculator. She has an amazing knack for processing advanced formulas and equations in her mind. You know that she's dealing with abstract and theoretical mathematics when she actually has to write down her thoughts.

History
Loda Yshtoll, like the majority of her people, was born on their homeworld, Delta IV. The Deltans are not ambitious pioneers of the galaxy and prefer the comforts of their ancestral home, which had been a cultural Eden long before Terrans took their first long glance at the stars. Loda was entirely comfortable living in privilege and wealth with her family, an old clan of Deltan trading barons, until a Federation vessel visited her mother to settle a dispute between her and an angry Klingon captain who erroneously believed the Yshtoll matron to be deceiving him on a matter of a rather large-scale trade the two peoples had undertaken. The renegotiation of the original contract took place aboard the Federation vessel and the young Deltan girl was easily overwhelmed and enamored the romanticism of interstellar travel. Of course, those beautiful security officers and their tight, yellow uniforms were a lure for her too. Not bound by any federation oaths, Loda's mother enjoyed the company of several Starfleet employees during the week-long meeting that mostly took place in orbit of Delta IV. The Deltans were exotic to these outsiders, who were unaware of the subconscious telepathy exuded by Loda's mother, creating inviting images in their mind of her, as her body emitted euphoric pheromones passively into the air around her. Loda's mother was beautiful, but she had a stacked deck, as well.

When she came of age her mother allowed her to enroll at Starfleet; Prodigious as a child, Loda was not perturbed by the difficult Starfleet exams, though she was barred from entry on her first attempt after failing the cultural/racial interaction test, allowing herself to become romanced by one of her instructors, which would have been a violation of the oaths she would be made to swear if she were accepted. The next year, her exams went through. For her cultural test, she was told to enter another room and announce to a foreign diplomat visiting the academy that their wait would conclude shortly, and that they would be escorted to their ambassadorial chambers. A man and a woman of similar attire awaited her but Loda recognized the race as highly matriarchal, and she addressed the woman by her correct title while completely ignoring the man who was merely a personal guard.

The Deltan excelled at Starfleet Academy, choosing to major in Astrophysics. By the time she graduated the main 4-year program with Honors, Loda had decided to pursue a career in Ship Tactical and Security, intrigued by the high level of expertise required to arm, aim and fire weaponry and to maintain shield structure, believing that her gift with mathematics would someday be a great boon aboard a Federation starship... Her memory of those men of women of Starfleet that had visited Delta IV during her childhood, those handsome, brave men and women of security/tactical in their alluring yellow uniforms also helped to make up her mind. With her aspirations and academic excellency she was accepted into a 2-year Command training program, and once again completed it with Honors, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander at the brief age of 25.

Her first assignment was aboard the USS Thunderchild, an Akira-class starship, whose primary assignment was assistance in the terraformation of sub-M class planets. It was a prestigious job- who wasn't thrilled by the idea of creating planets capable of sustaining life?- but boring, and eventually Loda requested a transfer to a commission that might see a little more action before her skills deteriorated. Someday, Loda aspires to be a captain herself, yet she believes that she is not yet worthy, and wants to put in her due before she would ever consider pushing for a role of First Officer. This has been perceived as a lack of ambition or an over-presence of humility by some.

Loda Yshtoll is now the chief tactical/security officer! We need only a captain, chief engineer, and chief medical officer before we start. Claim your spots now!

So far we've had interest in the captain and chief engineer spots. If no one claims the chief medical officer spot, I'll make a character for it so we can start.

slytherindoctor

Well we just need to get those last three spots filled. In the meantime, I can set up a thread for your ship I suppose.

Alright, here is the ship. Everyone on that ship may go start posting on it! Your ship is a Nova class starship of 80 crew members.

I've got mine almost done! Will hopefully finish first thing in the morning.

If found acting like an idiot, apply Gibbs-slap to reboot system.

I'd be interested in joining; unfortunately though I'll be away most of July for work.  :'(

So I'd hate to start something and then just be gone for weeks, so I'll just keep an eye on things and see what's happening when I'm back. :-)

Good luck with the game!

That is quite unfortunate. Hopefully we'll still be around at the end of July and you can join in! :D

Ghostraven

I'll keep my fingers crossed.  :-)

I'll work up a character to have in the wings should everything still be humming along when I get back.   ;D

slytherindoctor

The person who said they would play as the Chief Engineer hasn't posted here in days so I'm going to go ahead and say you can claim that spot for this first ship. And if the ship fills up he can claim that position in a later ship anyway.

So first come first serve on the positions.

I added some information to the timeline regarding the Cardassians and the Maquis which might pertain to some people's character backgrounds. Sorry, I should have put it there earlier.
