QuoteTake up one of the following challenges and write me a short story about:

1.  Waking to the sound of church bells and finding a note on your pillow.

She slept late that morning. Sun persistently leaked into the room around the thick curtains that had offered promises for total darkness in a room. Much to her annoyance, a sunbeam slipped in at the edge of the taupe curtains and gave its best efforts to blind her. Naturally shifting around in bed did nothing to help the situation. It must be time to tape them to the wall.

She had managed to drown out most of the sound of the nearby church that sounded off each hour using a small white noise machine in her room, but lying awake now, she could make out the faint sound of them. It must be late! She lazily slid her bare arm from below the soft white sheets to move her pajama shorts that served to block the light from her alarm clock at night. Noon already?

Suddenly she realized the bed was much lighter than it should be and she looked over her shoulder. Where was he? What's that on his pillow?

She sat up, now wide awake and concerned at the unusual development. She brushed light blonde hair from her eyes and pulled the comfy covers up over her bare shoulders while reaching for the small folded piece of paper. She shivered and goose bumps began to creep along her skin and she pulled at the covers more. Delicate fingers slowly unfolded the piece of paper, and she began to read for a moment.

She cried softly, but said nothing.
