Observing Trifles

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to browse my little collection of plot bunnies. Please keep in mind that these are just starting points, and that plot will be discussed in more detail over messages. At this time, my interests are quite varied, which will reflect in the following list. But first, a little summary about what I'm looking for.

I write stories involving m/m relationships. I like romance, but it doesn't have to be the fluffy sort - angst is fun too. You'll find that I'm very open to most kinks, but if you're curious, here's my list of yeses and absolute no-nos. I'll happily write as either a top, bottom, or switch.

If anything catches your attention, please send me a message and don't post in this thread. Also, please note that this list is not comprehensive. I have a ton of ideas, I just have a hard time writing them all down. More fully-formed ideas can be found here. If nothing there appeals to you, but you have an idea for which I might be suited, feel free to message me. I'm always looking for something new and exciting. :-)

Fantasy

In the Dark of the Night [Taken. Would discuss again if the details were changed a bit.]

Themes:
Magic, revenge, villainy.

Summary:
Aexyr has spent the vast majority of his life dedicated to mastering the art of magic. To do so, he has made a great many sacrifices, including but not limited to giving up the use of his eyes, thus better honing his sense and connection to the energy of the universe. His skill eventually led to earning a post as mage to the royal family, whose household he served and counseled for decades.

His dedication to his craft knows no bounds, to such an extent that when he appeared to have reached his peak, he began drifting into extremes. Into dark, forbidden magic, the likes of which a mage of his caliber is capable of controlling, but not without losing just a smidge of his morality, and so began his descent into darkness.

Eventually the royal family became aware of their mage's darkening nature, and after considerable conflict, he was stripped of his status, divested of his books and artifacts, and banished from the realm. Naturally, this didn't sit well with Aexyr, who wasted little time returning to exact his revenge...

This is where our story begins. I have a few possible avenues we could explore, but at the end of the day I'm looking to pair him with a character who is of the mind to help him in his quest for vengeance. Ideally, this person would be another magic-user, or simply someone with enough skill and knowledge of the arcane to aid him in his quest.

Of Fire and Ice

Themes:
Espionage, romance.

Summary:
Ruler of Khortaq, a kingdom of Fire Elementals, Azrael has a great many responsibilities on his shoulders - and a great many secrets. Unbeknownst to the public, he has a violent second personality that emerges when under great strain, a personality that would sooner burn the entire kingdom to the ground than to see it flourish.

Conflict between Khortaq and the neighboring nation of Silvana, a kingdom of Water Elementals, has gone on for years, and one year prior to the beginning of our tale sparked the beginnings of war. Desperate to bring an end to the destruction and restore his legacy, Azrael is that much more wary when a stranger from a foreign land finds his way into the kingdom.

The man says he is from Laquir, a smaller nation of Ice Elementals with which Khortaq maintains a good relationship. He claims to be the bastard son of the Silvanian king and a Laquirian gypsy, who after discovering the truth of his parentage desires revenge on the father who rejected him. Skeptical, Azrael places him under close watch in his household - which was exactly what his new house guest had hoped.

Expectations:
As I imagine it, the stranger is telling the truth when he claims the Silvanian king is his father. He had known this his entire life, as the king had kept his mother on as a unofficial concubine and taken care of her after she expressed a desire to move on. The king used this relationship to his advantage, recruiting his son for an espionage mission into Khortaq, where he is expected to get close to Azrael and begin his downfall.

No one in Silvana knows about Azrael's second personality. They suspect that something is very wrong with him, but they're not sure what. As such, the Silvanian court doesn't know what he'll find there, but they're hoping for one of a few possible outcomes:
               - Raising doubt about Azrael's mental stability and capacity to rule.
               - Discovering vital pieces of military information that will lead their side to victory.
               - Feeding Azrael incorrect information that will cause him to make the wrong judgement calls.

Somehow, despite everything, Azrael and the spy will form an unlikely bond. One that will make it very difficult for the spy to continue his work with a clean conscience, and even more difficult for the Khortaqian lord when he discovers he's been tricked.

The Trickster

Themes:
Any.

Summary:
Katu belongs to a race of demons called the Khaquir, all of whom possess a natural ability to control the elements. Every member of his family boasted the rare ability to control the water element - every member, that is, except for Katu, who never acquired the strength required to manipulate anything save for the occasional raindrop.

Rejected by his kind, Katu withdrew into himself and discovered that while he could not manipulate the elements, he could spin complex illusions. His newfound abilities gave him the nerve he needed to leave his village, whereupon he traveled endlessly to sate his wanderlust.

These days, Katu supports himself as a street performer, using his self-taught skills in various circus arts, including but not limited to contortion, juggling, and acrobatics.

Possibilities:
- A wealthy man traveling through the countryside encounters Katu at one of his pop-up street performances, intrigued by his exotic appearance and unique skillset. Katu, seeing an opportunity, decides to charm the ever-loving hell out of him, meaning to rob him blind but ending up rather fond of his intended mark. From there, we could explore how their relationship develops and its hurdles, given the wealthy man's social status and Katu's relentless wanderlust (and short attention span).

- Katu finds himself in the service of a noble household, where he performs at various galas and for the lords' and ladies' personal amusement. There, he meets a man of noble blood and draws him into an illicit affair. Perhaps the noble has been forcibly engaged to someone he doesn't love, or perhaps he's simply a rebel, but he's unable to resist the Khaquir's promise of forbidden indulgences.

Expectations:
Katu is more than likely a switch, and although I'd like to keep them that way, this can be altered based on your preference. Regarding sexual scenes, I'm open to including him in anything from light to bondage, but probably not non-con or extreme. I could be convinced otherwise, but it just doesn't seem to fit at the moment.

After experiencing a subdued, repressed life in his youth, Katu has broken out of his shell and sees no point in living in the past. He is an unapologetic trickster, selfish and hedonistic, and would probably do best with someone who has a zeal for life that matches his own, or someone he can inspire to live a little.

Ties That Bind

Setting:
High fantasy.

Themes:
Adventure, romance, incest.

Summary:
Having never known his father and having lost his mother as a child, Celair's primary education was the school of hard knocks. The young elf struggled as a petty thief, worked the odd job, even fell into life as a slave before at last reinventing himself in his adulthood as a ruthless mercenary.

Enter Ardreth, a powerful, thousand-year-old elven mage with a job tailored for Celair's particular set of skills. The payout is nearly too good to be true, but there's no catch, only great risk to life and limb. Between the dangerous task before him and his companion's flighty personality - in stark contrast to his own stolid demeanor - the mercenary gets just a touch more than he bargained for. And imagine Celair's surprise when Ardreth reveals they share the same blood...

*

Ideally, the big reveal would be that Ardreth is Celair's estranged father. But if that doesn't sit well with you, this can be adjusted to make them brothers. They just need to be related somehow, and the closer the familial ties, the better.

Ordinarily father/son incest squicks me out a bit, but in this case, I'm alright with it as Ardreth had no part in his son's upbringing. Their relationship would thus be a purely romantic one.

The Necromancer

Setting:
Either fantasy or modern-fantasy.

Themes:
Magic. Possibly adventure. Hopefully romance.

Summary:
A necromancer, medicine man, and purveyor of macabre curios, Draenai has found a place to settle in the dark corners of a bustling city where he conducts his business, relying on word of mouth to attract his clients. He's a solitary sort, primarily out of self-preservation, for a spider-demon isn't exactly welcome in polite society.

1.) Conducting business as usual, Drae's idyllic life of relatively calm obscurity is interrupted by the presence of a new magic-user in his city. Where the necromancer takes satisfaction in silence and order, the other is loud and extroverted, disrupting his quiet. And worst of all, to Drae's great frustration, the other has taken a liking to him... This would see Drae being shoved out of his comfort zone, which is probably very good for him, as he is very set in his ways. Drae is a creature of night and darkness, and for this version, I'd like the other magic-user to be one of light. An elf or fae would probably be best, one with enough confidence and resilience of personality to not give up when Drae shoots him down over and over again.

2.) Skills such as raising zombified corpses and communicating with the dead come easy to necromancers of Drae's caliber. Restoring both a body's true soul and vitality is, however, a different story, as most risen corpses will decompose over time. In his pursuit of this goal, Drae inadvertently traps the spirit of a demon in the body of a human - a demon he has met and exorcised before, one who holds a grudge.

The Bodyguard

Settings:
Either high fantasy or sci-fi.

Themes:
To be determined.

Summary:
The story would follow a man of wealth and power - such as a nobleman, politician, etc - and his budding relationship with his new bodyguard. For the bodyguard, I'm wanting to stay away from the typical huge, burly, muscled brute, and instead leaning toward one who is lean, sleek, and agile.

The bodyguard would come from nothing, having no background in nobility or wealth. He would thus be drawn to the lifestyle offered by his employer, and eventually become something of a right-hand man.

~*~

Jewel of the Pacific

Setting:
Modern fantasy or high fantasy.

Themes:
Will vary based on who Saphyr is paired with.

Summary:
In the years since they were officially discovered, merpeople have become the equivalent of modern fashion accessories. It is not uncommon for wealthy executives to keep aquariums filled with exotic fish, but merpeople are exceptionally rare and as such, only the wealthiest and most privileged of people with all the right connections can acquire them. Merpeople are finicky pets, however, and require very special attention. If they are unhappy, they become reclusive and refuse to eat, until eventually, they die of starvation. Because of this, it is not uncommon for the owners of aquariums to hire full-time handlers to care for their pet merpeople.

As rare as merpeople are, they are generally categorized in rarity by hair and tail color. Green is considered the most common tail color among merpeople and black is the most common hair color. Blue tails and white hair are exceedingly rare traits on their own, but having both in only one merperson is almost unheard of. Saphyr is one such merperson.

Sci-Fi

The Born

Setting:
Modern. Maybe futuristic/cyberpunk/biopunk.

Themes:
Vampirism. Action/adventure.

Summary:
Xander is one of the Born; a half-breed abomination resulting from the union of a vampire and a human. His kind are exceedingly rare, often sought by humans and vamps alike as Daywalkers, immortal hunters who can fight for either side and are capable of movement during the day. More common are members of Quinn's faction - the Reborn; half-breeds manufactured in a laboratory to meet the growing need for Daywalkers.

The Born tend not to respect the Reborn, considering them lesser, synthetic versions. Regardless, both Quinn and Xander have an intimate knowledge of the loneliness that comes with immortality, which brings them together in spite of the general unfriendliness between their kinds.

I'd like to see them joining forces to fight some great evil, the details of which we can work out together.

~*~

The Wrong Side of Heaven

Setting:
Modern fantasy.

Themes:
Superheroes. Action/adventure. Tumultuous romance.

Summary:
A story in which hero and villain have known each other since childhood, build a strong partnership, and make drastically different choices in life that leads them apart - but doesn't break their bond.

Modern/Realistic

The Gigolo

Setting:
Modern/Realistic.

Themes:
Escorts/Prostitution. Romance.

Summary:
Dexter was fortunate enough to be born into a family of considerable means, something he took for granted in his youth. To his parents' dismay, he flunked out of college and burned through his trust fund within five years, a combination of events that forced them to cut financial ties with him until he sorted himself out - he never did.

Ever the resourceful one, Dexter suffered only a few setbacks before finding a calling in providing his services as a male escort, one willing to service women and men alike. Building a list of steady regulars was not an issue, but with an ambitious streak a mile wide, he found it much more lucrative to seek and maintain an exclusive list of core clientele, each willing to pay him larger sums for specialized, on-demand service. For those individuals - two women and one man - Dexter goes above and beyond to supply not only a lover in the bedroom, but also a companion for business travel, a date for family affairs, and so on, in exchange for a bi-weekly, five-figure paycheck.

Possible scenario:
A new male client (one of considerable financial means, maybe referred by one of his semi-regulars) seeks Dexter's company for a strictly non-sexual affair. Could be that he's simply too busy focusing on work to carry on a successful personal life, and so to keep his family from prying any further, he hires Dex for a few family/social events to hang on his arm, bring him drinks, and laugh at his jokes. Romance definitely isn't supposed to be in the equation here, but as the paid interactions continue...

Perhaps the client is a bit on the awkward side, fresh out of the closet, and looking to gain a bit of confidence by having an experienced man on his arm at a social function. From there, they could progress to the point where Dexter adds this new client to his core list. He could accompany him on vacations, to business dinners, perhaps even to family functions to help the client become more comfortable being out, with sex being a secondary and optional service, rather than the primary reason for their arrangement. Ideally, I would love to see the two develop a genuine relationship at some point down the road. And of course, they would then have to work with the reality that Dexter, despite his suave, seductive nature, has absolutely no idea how to be in a committed, loving relationship.

Gotham

Setting:
Modern/Realistic.

Themes:
Any.

Summary:
After getting all caught up with the latest season of Gotham, I'm dying to play Edward Nygma. Not going to lie, I don't have a solid plot in mind for him just yet, only the strong craving to write good ol' Ed as he gets closer and closer to becoming the Riddler. There's no saving him, no bringing him back from the brink of insanity. He's perfect as he is, and I'm looking for his partner in crime.

Whether your character is an original character or someone already established in the DC universe is up to you. I'm happy to discuss just about any pairing possibility, provided the person you choose is capable of either keeping up with his growing fondness for madness, or simply fueling it. Fueling it would be preferable.

In this context, Nygma will have already served his first stint in Arkham, partnered with Cobblepot, and will just be getting his footing. He's already started envisioning what will eventually become his infamous death traps, although he's not quite there yet. He's still gathering the resources. But where there's a will, there's a way.

The details of his new relationship - as far as their working partnership, and eventually their sexual relationship - are completely up for discussion. I'm up for nearly anything, with the exception of non-con, as I don't think that has a place here.

Mental Hospital

Setting:
Modern, maybe modern fantasy.

Themes:
Bondage, possible dub-con, possible edgeplay, eventual (twisted) romance.

Trigger Warning:
Cutting and possibly other means of self-harm.

Plot under the cut because triggers.
Combating a lifetime of numbness and a lack of purpose, Phoenix likes to cut himself. He likes it so much, in fact, that the habit has almost killed him on numerous occasions. He's been in a mental hospital for some time, long enough that he knows how to get around the orderlies who would deprive him of the sharp things he needs to get through the day.

It's in the hospital where he meets either...

A.) A kindred spirit who also thrives on pain.

B.) Someone who likes to inflict pain on him.

Off the Ice

Themes:
Opposites attract. Romance.

Summary:
A figure skater and hockey player walked into a rink and...
At the age of twenty-two, Levi is an accomplished solo figure skater training for his first professional competition. Devoted to his art, he throws himself mind, body, and soul into each practice, embellishing the ice with a catlike grace and elegant flair that has won him multiple titles, securing for him the chance to become an international star.

Liam, on the flip side, is a rugged hockey player in a minor professional league. Bold and entirely ungraceful, he has a considerably more relaxed approach to life, choosing quality time with friends and family over rigid discipline whenever possible. This has not, however, prevented him from becoming a crucial player on his team.

It's at a large rental rink where the unlikely pair first meet, where an accidental double booking sees Liam's hockey team showing up to practice just as Levi takes to the ice to practice. Initially, there is a touch of hostility between the groups, owing to the team's lack of respect for "prissy" figure skaters and the coach's prickly demeanor. Levi and Liam, on the other hand, find themselves quite drawn to one another. Where Levi is inexplicably attracted to the athlete's easygoing nature, so too is Liam attracted to the skater's wit and inherent grace.

The problems lay in the smaller details. Levi loathes hockey, finding the sport brutish and unnecessarily violent, while Liam has absolutely no interest in the art of figure skating. What's more, none of Liam's teammates know that he's attracted to men, and as it is, Levi is far too busy training to entertain the notion of a real relationship. But that doesn't stop them from sneaking off to see each other, either just before or just after practice...

Expectations:
I'd prefer to play Levi. Also, I didn't have a strict top/bottom arrangement in mind, so those details will be up for discussion.[/size]

Period/Historical

Crimson Peak

Setting:
Victorian/Edwardian England.

Themes:
Gothic romance. Supernatural. Mystery.

Summary:
A dark and complex romance between Sir Thomas Sharpe, a once wealthy Baronet, and his new American paramour. Their relationship seems idyllic at first, but they face a ghostly danger when they reach Sir Thomas's family home - the mysterious Crimson Peak.

I'm most interested in playing Sir Thomas, but I'm willing to be flexible here.

The House of Weber

Setting:
Austria, circa 1880.

Themes:
Romance. Mystery.

Summary:
Max Weber is a wealthy man, but a broken one trying to pick up the pieces after his wife's abandonment. A year passes and he seems to have moved on. Not only that, but he's also taken a new lover, a younger man roughly ten years his junior. His reputation forbids him from making their affair public, however, much to his younger companion's chagrin. Worse yet, in recent days rumors have circulated that Max isn't all that he seems. Word has it that his wife didn't leave him, but was murdered - by Max's own hand.

Notes:
I intend for the details of Max's marriage to unfold as the story continues. I'm still developing the idea. That said, I don't intend for Max to be a villain. The story would begin with Max meeting his new lover, spend some time developing their relationship, and explore the drama that unfolds when people start seeing him as a potential murderer.

For this story, I'd like to play Max. Looking for someone to play his younger lover. The details of his character, such as age, social standing, and appearance are completely up to you.

Beast/Human

La Luna 2.0

Setting:
Fantasy.

Themes:
Animal/human sex.

Summary:
In this version, the creature is a cursed prince. Once a proud ruler and a hunter, he has been transformed into a reedwolf for some random indiscretion. Determined not to spend the rest of his days on four paws, he seeks the help of a mage to restore him to his human form. Unfortunately, the mage is someone the prince has crossed before.

Notes:
The details of the pair's rocky relationship is up for discussion. But I'm thinking that perhaps the prince had the mage branded as a criminal, or perhaps sent him into exile for one reason or another. Whatever the case, the prince is a jerk and the mage won't want to help him at first - unless the prince does something nice for him in return.

Beauty and the Beast

Setting:
Fantasy.

Themes:
Beast, romance.

Summary:
What if the Beast isn't just a cursed prince with a peasant for a prisoner, but the wolf-like slave of a selfish noble? At the start of this story, the Beast is the one in need of saving, and it's up to a newcomer in the household to set him free.

The Beast could be a former noble transformed by a curse, werewolf, or some other supernatural means, and consequently removed from his throne, which leads to his enslavement. He could also have simply been born into that station. Either way, I intend for the Beast to be non-human. His partner will, however, be human - or at least humanoid.
