Tales of Might and Magic 2: Curse of the Nine

In Millenniums Past Alteria ruled the entire Continent of Altron, the empire being where the people of today grant it's name. It is one of the most mysterious lands in all of Shandrath, the ancient empire and all that was before it having seemingly been wiped from all memory. Yet deep in those ruins, tales give light to what the empire was truly like; and how it manipulated the balance between the material world and all others planes. That is where this story begins; the telling of how Alteria brought down 'The Curse of the Nine.'

In the salvaged records it tells how Caydean Calian used the mysterious methods of Alteria to join the ranks of the gods, and Tales of how Iomede transcended herself in a similar fashion. It doesn't commonly give way to what happened in the Empire's decadence, their toiling with the lower and higher Planes. Truth is, if you believe the records, they stole the knowledge of godhood from mixed secrets gathered from all  of the other planes. The most jaded by this theft were the Nine Demon Princes of the Abyss, formally called 'The Nine'.

Where Cultist and Fanatics today worship the lords of the Abyss, Alteria double crossed them; and this brought down their ever lasting ire. They cursed the whole of the land, all of Alteria's empire with terrible corruption and Decadence. A Curse some say has been carried on to Galtea, who's royal line claims to have Royal Alterian blood. Though what's not commonly spoken of is that the Curse has yet to come to full Fruition; and that is a discovery a group of Adventurers are just now stumbling unto.

For when what they think is a Trek into an Alterian ruin goes bad, they find themselves shunted through time and space to end up in the midst of a hostile world completely unlike their own. And now they must cling to survival, using all in their Power to Get home and find a way to use the secrets they find to stop the coming madness.

Hopefully that attracted some people. This is the next installment of my 'Tales of Might and Magic' game, and is set in the west near the Kingdom of Rosalia. This should be the third of four threads that will be started in hopes to breath life and fun into this setting of mine. I'm looking for detailed, effective and non anime styled characters. If you cannot commit to post once a day do not sign up. I will not tolerate my game being dragged down without a good reason. And for those of you who do not usually think of going far in PBP, think differently; if you can't commit to the long haul don't even bother.

Battle will be played out in Initiative order. For those that say it doesn't work, look over the other two threads already in this series. It's working fine as long a everyone posts once a day, and if they don't the thread will be held up regardless. Pathfinder Core Deities have been vamped to fit the setting. Consider them to work in mostly the same fashion. Races and the like are the same as the core book states. When IC posting starts, no one should post more then three times before I post to move things along. There will be no other posting order outside of combat.

List of Allowed books are as follows.
Pathfinder Core Rules
Adventurers Armory
Advanced Players Guide

Anything else will have to be asked for, and don't expect to get it let in. If listed without permission granted before hand, you will not be allowed to select it regardless. No Traits, and no Alternate Favored Class bonuses. Those are the only things universally not allowed from the listed book. Also please do not mention Ultimate Magic or Ultimate Combat Material. No guns exist in the world as gunpowder does not, and I have not felt like flipping through the UM because I already Dislike the Magus. As Always I reserve the right to disallow whatever I want

Character Creation sign up:
-35 point buy: 30 if an Alternate Race is selected
-Starting Level: 7
-46000 GP in Character Wealth
-List of Allowed Alternate Races Are:
Aasmir, Tiefling, Dhamphir, Standard Drow, Ifrit, Oread, Sylph, Undine and Changelings
-Also, make sure to use Plothooks Character sheets. All sheets must be open for everyone to view here. Make sure to submit a background with the character.
-HP will be max on first level, then half HD + 2 on every level thereafter. Knew I had forgotten something.

This is not First come First Served, although Quick Generation does grant you points. Apply for one of the Following Positions, or Multiples if you believe your character could fit for them.

Melee Combatant: Should have High AC, Combat Maneuvers to control battle, High HP, and high Attacks Bonus and Damage output.

Support: Should be Capable of Healing and Buffing allies- very effectively I might add.

Specialist: Skill Monkey, should have high bonuses on a wide range of various Skills to get the characters by when might and magic have failed. Should also be capable of respectable combat prowess.

Magic: Should have damage dealing spells, tricky spells to help out in any situation, as well as ways to help control the battlefield without hampering the other players jobs.

Wildcard: Should help fill in any gaps left by the other jobs, fill in for them if needed, and help them at what they do.

Maybe. I'm hoping to see some fresh interest on here. Love playing with the lot of people I have been, but new players would add to the pile. Bring more variety and more ideas. Not to mention more threads. >_>

Crovonovin

I'm not sure if I would qualify as fresh interest, but I'd still be delighted to have you as a DM, Black Howling.  If it's alright by you, I think I'll be retooling Magnus a bit.

Fresh interest counts as anyone not already in the game. Basically, people who could shake things up and add more threads. I'll accept people already in the other games, mind you. I'd just like some new people present.

Glad to see interest.

PaleEnchantress

Myself and my friend Kunoichi may be interested in playing. I will ask her. We will be playing 2 males with me a some type of main caster. Likly one that eschews damage spells to focus on enchantment, illusion, or necromancy. Maybe ill play a thrallherd.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
--------------------

Aura of Good (Ex)
The power of a paladin's aura of good (see the detect good spell) is equal to her paladin level.

Detect Evil (Sp)
At will, a paladin can use detect evil, as the spell. A paladin can, as a move action, concentrate on a single item or individual within 60 feet and determine if it is evil, learning the strength of its aura as if having studied it for 3 rounds. While focusing on one individual or object, the paladin does not detect evil in any other object or individual within range.

Smite Evil (Su)
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Once per day, a paladin can call out to the powers of good to aid her in her struggle against evil. As a swift action, the paladin chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, the paladin adds her Cha bonus (if any) to her attack rolls and adds her paladin level to all damage rolls made against the target of her smite. If the target of smite evil is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to 2 points of damage per level the paladin possesses. Regardless of the target, smite evil attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess.

In addition, while smite evil is in effect, the paladin gains a deflection bonus equal to her Charisma modifier (if any) to her AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If the paladin targets a creature that is not evil, the smite is wasted with no effect.

The smite evil effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time the paladin rests and regains her uses of this ability. At 4th level, and at every three levels thereafter, the paladin may smite evil one additional time per day, as indicated on Table: Paladin, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level.

Divine Grace (Su)
At 2nd level, a paladin gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) on all Saving Throws.

Lay On Hands (Su)
Heal 3d6; 8/Day

Aura of Courage (Su)
At 3rd level, a paladin is immune to fear (magical or otherwise). Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects. This ability functions only while the paladin is conscious, not if she is unconscious or dead.

Divine Health (Ex)
At 3rd level, a paladin is immune to all diseases, including supernatural and magical diseases.

Shared Defense (Su)
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
At 3rd level, a divine defender can spend one use of her lay on hands ability as a standard action to grant all adjacent allies (including paladins) a bonus. At 3rd level, adjacent allies receive a +1 sacred bonus to their AC and CMD and on their saving throws. These bonuses last for a number of rounds equal to the divine defender’s Charisma modifier. At 9th level and 15th level, this bonus increases by +1. At 6th level, these bonuses are granted to all allies within 10 feet, and allies that are at fewer than 0 hit points within this area are automatically stabilized. At 12th level, these bonuses are granted to all allies within 15 feet, and allies within this area are immune to bleed damage. At 18th level, these bonuses are granted to all allies within 20 feet, and allies within this area gain a 25% chance to negate any sneak attack or critical hit scored against them. This ability does not stack with the chance provided from the light, medium, or heavy fortification armor special abilities. These bonuses are cumulative with each other. Allies only benefit from these bonuses while in the listed area. This ability replaces mercy.

Divine Bond (Su)
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
At 5th level, instead of forming a divine bond with her weapon or a mount, a divine defender can form a bond with her armor. As a standard action, a divine defender can enhance her armor by calling upon the aid of a celestial spirit. This bond lasts for 1 minute per paladin level. When called, the spirit causes the armor to shed light like a torch. At 5th level, the spirit grants the armor a +1 enhancement bonus. For every three levels beyond 5th, the armor gains another +1 enhancement bonus, to a maximum of +6 at 20th level. These bonuses can be added to the armor, stacking with existing armor bonuses to a maximum of +3, or they can be used to add any of the following armor properties (asterisks note new armor properties found in Chapter 7 of the Advanced Player's Guide):

champion [APG], ghost touch, heavy fortification, invulnerability, light fortification, moderate fortification, spell resistance (13, 15, 17, or 19)

Adding these properties consumes an amount of bonus equal to the property’s cost (see Table 15–4 of the Core Rulebook). In addition, the bonuses can be consumed at the listed amount to add any of the following armor properties: energy resistance for +3 bonus, improved energy resistance for +5 bonus, or righteous [APG] for +4 bonus. These bonuses are added to any properties the armor already has, but duplicate abilities do not stack. If the armor is not magical, at least a +1 enhancement bonus must be added before any other properties can be added. The bonus and properties granted by the spirit are determined when the spirit is called and cannot be changed until the spirit is called again. The celestial spirit imparts no bonuses if the armor is worn by anyone other than the divine defender, but it resumes giving bonuses if the divine defender dons the armor again. A divine defender can use this ability once per day at 5th level, and one additional time per day for every four levels beyond 5th, to a total of four times per day at 17th level.

If a suit of armor with a celestial spirit is destroyed, the divine defender loses the use of this ability for 30 days, or until she gains a level, whichever comes first. During this 30-day period, the divine defender takes a –1 penalty on attack and weapon damage rolls.

Channel Positive Energy (Su)
When a paladin reaches 4th level, she gains the supernatural ability to channel positive energy like a cleric. Using this ability consumes two uses of her lay on hands ability. A paladin uses her level as her effective cleric level when channeling positive energy. This is a Charisma-based ability.

I actually find plothooks easier to reference myself. The method from Hero Lad looks like an NPC stat block from the monster manual to me. I always have to rewrite the information from those because I have trouble quick referencing them. Thus why I enforce the character sheets from plothooks, they make my life a little easier.

I Trust Callie already knows he'll have to properly change it over before I consider it for the game?

Ok, Black Howling, I've enjoyed reading your previous threads, and I see some excellent posters lining up... and anyone who know me here knows I post at least once a day, (if not 6).

But I don't know pathfinder.

I know 3.5 backwards and forwards though.  I'd love to play a straight Wizard... a lady with a strong background I've used in the past...  or alternatively, a Druid... but I'd need some help with character creation.

Anyone intereted?

It is, if you can manage to bring the other one in quickly too. My issue is it's so hard to reference for me. I mean, I had to really copy the monster manual to my own format for easy use in game. Still, so long as the next one is brought through it's all good. And *Whistles* I still like that pic.

Yeah, but that does tend to make them a good life line for the group. The only actual wizards I can pull off well are Diviners, Abjurer's, and Illusionists. Kinda funny, really. Anyhow, useless piece of information there.

True, but it makes looking up the ability descriptions a bit easier for me instead of switching over to the SRD every time.  That, and I had sent you a link to the plothook sheet already.

I'm definitely excited to see what this hostile world is.  "Fish out of water" tales where the heroes are taken completely out of their element are always entertaining!

Push comes to shove I can tweak my Oread and let someone else take the caster role.. I get teh feeling that Onyx is in failed game #2.

But I will finish inputting stuff into Rhea after I finish recovering my accounting homework.

Black Howling

Rhea is sexy so I'd certainly hope so. ;) Though no worries on, we aren't exactly lacking interest; just not the options for it I have for the others. Or am going to have for the others, so it seems.

Character Sheet: http://plothook.net/RPG/profiler/view.php?id=9027

Character History:

I imagine Ettiene to be this really pragmatic guy who just happened to become a mercenary because money was tight.  I think Ettiene was once married, but he never really liked his wife, though you'll never hear him speak ill of the dead.  The couple fell in together because there really isn't very much to do at work camps except fall in with the opposite sex, and when she got pregnant, Ettiene accepted the responsibility because people whose lives are hard seem to think that a little change can't be bad.  He hated married life, but mostly because his wife made him aware of how little he earned for all the hard work he put in at the mines.  Ettiene is descended from a long line of workers.  You know, haulers, porters and miners.  Being underground is in his blood.  But Ettiene would never say that he enjoyed it.

He really couldn't tell you how he felt when the mines shut down and workers were laid off.  He was happy that he didn't have to go back below and breathe the damp, inky air ever again.  But he was also afraid.  I want to say that he was even hopeful that something good would come along, but Ettiene is a practical fellow and he never gets his hopes up.  His wife was pregnant again and the two hoped that she would be able to carry it to term, but Ettiene knew that without any money, raising a child would be impossible.  So Ettiene joined a guard company, gave the sign-on bonus to his wife and set out to earn money by being a huge dick.  You know.  He had to do things.  Things that decent men never want to do.  But the money was good and the work was steady.  In a month, he had made a year's earnings, but his wife passed away before she could ever enjoy it.  Ettiene wasn't sad, but he did want to be a father, and I guess that really depressed him.

Ettiene spent some time traveling, getting work as a guard.  Guard work soon turned into mercenary work, which soon turned into bounty work, which then turned into spelunking work.
Always seeking 5E games.

Valenar Bladestorm Finished so any questions please feel free to ask.

Youth (birth -75): Valenar spent his youth as the oldest son to a merchant family. His youth was filled with various activities and studies from learning to play the violin and studying, to archery and swordsmanship. His life continued to be relatively easy as his father was even teaching him how to handle money properly and prepare him to take over the family business. That all changed around his 75th birthday when there was supposedly a terrible accident involving a house fire. Val had been out at the time collecting a payment of money from a nearby town when he got the news. His whole family had been caught inside the house during the night in a terrible fire that killed them all.

Upon returning to his home he did some digging and found out that the fire had not been an accident but had been deliberately set by a rival merchant house. When he asked around to find out why no one was doing anything to this house he found out that they had all either been bribed or threatened. Over the next week he sifted through the wreckage and ashes of his life searching for anything he could find. One the last day of searching as he was about to give up he found a hole in the wall that had not been touched by fire. Upon close examination he found a cloth wrapped object inside, and slowly pulled it out. Carefully wrapped up and hidden away presumably by his father, a relic from his days as an adventurer, the young elf found a sword in ornate scabbard with his family crest on it.

He carefully wrapped the sword back up in the cloth and headed back to the inn he was staying at in town. Once he was sure he was secure in his own room he once again removed the cloth and looked upon his fathers sword. He carefully removed the adamantine elven curve blade from it's sheath and looked at the inscription upon the adamantine blade, Vlos olplyn. It appeared to be elvish but almost as if in a sub dialect that he couldn't quite place. Deciding that could wait till later he placed the sword back into it's scabbard before placing it back in the cloth. The following morning he used the last of his money to buy up supplies and head out to grow stronger to one day avenge the dishonor that had been brought upon his family.

Young Adulthood(80-100): Valenar had spent the next 20 years wandering around doing odd jobs to try and make a living. He had done everything from guard duty to stable hand, and had even spent some time as a librarian. During the five years as a librarian he began to study and play with the arts of magic. He found that he took quite easy to some of the beginner cantrips , and it was during this time that he discovered what was written on his Father's blade. The inscription Vlos olplyn was drow and it's literal translation was blood thief, and this only raised the question of why his father had a sword of apparent drow make. The entire time the young elf was doing these odd jobs he never forgot to things. The first was a person is only as good as their word and we need to stick to not only our words but our moral codes. The second thing was that anyone that tried to betray you or double cross you was fair game.

By his centennial birthday  he had managed to come across a rather gift. I old lady who had been out in the woods collecting things to sell at the market had stumbled across a rather unusual and strange egg. Feeling a rather strange pull towards the egg he asked the old lady how much she wanted for the egg. The old lady not sure how much it was worth told him she want 10g for it. Feeling this wasn't quite right Valenar gave the lady 20 platinum pieces instead, because he knew it had to be worth more and didn't feel right cheating an old lady. Her eyes had about popped out of her head at the sight of that much platinum and he had a feeling her life had just improved.

The Egg: After he had gotten the egg he carefully place it into his pack and went to do some research. after countless nights of research he finally found out what the egg was, a Pseudodragon. After finishing up research into Pseudodragons he began gathering things to help raise the newborn creature. He hoped that be being present from it's birth the dragon would become his companion in his travels. He was unaware just how much of a trouble maker Sanguine was going to be. From the day the black Pseudodragon with red wing webbing was born the catlike behavior and mischievous little pranks never stopped, and the pranks haven't always been just on Val but also with anyone he has traveled with.

Adulthood (101-134): After his companion was born and able to travel The two joined up with a mercenary company. Val knew it was a quick way to make decent money and would help him grow stronger. Plus with the news of a war in a nearby land he would be able to travel. Sadly this experience would not only harden the young elf into a somewhat dark veteran but it would also cause his moral code to shift just a bit. Val wound up working his way up from just a lowly soldier through skill hard work and battlefield promotions until he was the one running the company. It had taken 20 years of fighting before the war was finally over, and Val was able to hand the reins over to the others and sink into a bottle. He had seen and done things he would rather forget during those twenty years, so he became a bit of a drunk and a ladies man. It wasn't until Sanguine finally managed to talk some sense into him that he snapped out of the haze and nightmare.

For the next 13 years he began to hire himself out as a sell sword to anyone that would pay his fee. He would take almost any job as long as they didn't break his contract. The first part was that he would not kill women with children nor would he kill innocents. If those he was working with tried he would stop them personally. The second part was if you refused to pay you would have to deal with him and he would offer to work for your enemies for free as long as he got the money you owed him in the end. Third he never changed side in the middle of contract, but once the contract was completed or broken that was another story. He tried not to work against former allies unless they turned out to be rather evil in which case he would sometimes offer to help for a reduced fee just to teach his former employers a lesson, remember what happened to his family.

Personality: Val tends to be a bit gruff from time to time reflecting his decades of service as a mercenary. He sometimes has bouts of dark times but Sanguine usually helps snap him out of it along with playing his violin. At first he can be cold to others he works with knowing that contracts come and go and people die, but once he sees peoples skill and travels with them for a bit he begins to open up and joke around having a good ole time. He has a code of honor which he tends to follow to a tee but there have been cases where he has had to bend for his own survival and those of others. In a fight he can be a force of awe with both his sword and the spells he weaves sometimes making it look more like a dance then a fight. At the end of the day when all are gathered around the camp for the night we will offer to be the first on watch. Sometimes Sanguine gets the better of him with his pranks and he can be seen chasing the little dragon all over is a rather playful manner as he would never hurt his faithful companion

Appearance: He is 6'2" tall with pale white skin that won't seem to tan no matter the time in the sun and red eyes that glow from time to time. He has a athletic build weighting in at about 130lbs of corded well packed muscle. He has medium length unruly black hair that seems to stick out in slightly random directions. He has a scar that runs across his left eye down his cheek which he got while protecting an employer from an assassination attempt. If he was to stand in front of you with nothing but a pair of shorts on you would see numerous scars on his legs and torso with a few on his arms. These scars have come from his decades of fighting in wars and as a mercenary. He also has a small dragon tattoo on his left upper arm done in red ink.

Attire:He wears a black sleeveless top over his celestial chainmail of the twilight with long black pants that he keeps tucked into his knee high boots. He wears a long black scarf-like cloak around his neck. He also wears a pair of gloves made of black leather that go half way up his bicep with hidden wrist sheaths. He keeps Vlos olphyn stuck through his belt on his left hip. He has a bandoleer full of various items and daggers strapped across his chest from his right shoulder to his left hip. He has a nice well weathered haversack that he carries on his back as well as a quiver full of arrows and a nice ebony composite longbow slung over his shoulder. Sanguine tends to perch on his shoulders as he travels taking to the air during combat.
What is it to a man if he gains the world but loses his soul.

Twilight doesn't exist nor should it ever had existed. Those things are not vampires no matter how much she wants to say they are. They are fey simple as that.

Character History:

Hina Dwyger was something of a disappointment to her father.  Her mother, however was proud...

At least that was what Hina told herself, as often as possible.  She'd not seen her mother in many years.  Her mother had vanished when she was 12, in a magical portal created by one of her father's experiments.  He promised she'd be able to return... someday.  Promised she was still alive, and that Hina could even see her, if she only would apply herself more to her studies!

Hina's father was an archmage.  A powerful figure in the land, and among the planes, he'd expected his only kin to follow in his footprints... astral or otherwise.

And Hina had TRIED.  She tried and tried.  Her brain never wanted to accept magic.

Oh she'd achieved some measure of success, but always with more time and effort than her father would admit were necessary.

So, one day, Hina had just... left.  Her grandmother was visiting... and had never seen eye to eye with her father.  She came from a long line of warriors, and while her warrior daughter had married this spell slinger, she thought he was far to pompous for his own good.  And then he loses her daughter, gods only know where!  Promises....

His daughter... her Grandaughter, came running up to her, begging to leave with her as she began her long journey home.

She laughed.  Why not?

Hina had been something of a disappointment at first to her Grandmother as well.  Besides a tendancy to dance, the girl had no physical skills worth mentioning.

But she was eager.  Ever so eager!

Hina remembered her lessons, and each and every lesson with the others her grandmother had traded with for her training, very well.  Painfully well.  Each bruise and scar were a reminder NOT to stand that way again.  NOT to block that way, and NOT to dodge left when the sword swung in an arc right...

Now she was on her pilgrimage.  Her grandmother told her her training could not be complete until she honed hr skills in the world outside... and Hina felt ready.  She wanted to start using her skill to help people, like in her books.  The books her mother had read to her.

And maybe, someday, she'd be sure her mother was proud of her.

You can take certain liberties within the bounds of anything smaller then a city. To do so you'll need to know more about the area though. I'll have some more background whipped up soon. If I knew how to work the Wiki, we'd already have a whole slew of setting detail down. Alas, we lack a steady stream for info until I can or can find out how to organize it for threads. It'll be just a bit before I have it finished. I was woke up after only 3 hours sleep, so I need to more properly wake up before I can write anything more then this coherently.

Rhea 'Twiceborn' ip Ackbar

Rhea sighed as she pulled off her covering robe and sat down as she took advantage of the library's empowered spells to have an unseen servant bring her pile of scrolls and tomes to the table while a more mundane servant brought a fired clay pot of tea. He presented a plug to her, which with a whispered word she encased in frost and put in the tea to chill it.  Satisfied that she had what she needed for the time being, the servant bowed and withdrew.

"Back to your studies again my dear?" A voice asked as she looked up. A smile graced her face as she looked up. Baslin was one of the best of the teacher's at the academy and had encouraged her studies in language and looking into the foundations of magic in Adjuration. She knew he wasn't one of the school's masters, his eclectic style of magic wasn't attuned to any one school of magic and his other 'interests' kept him from focusing solely on the Art. Of course, his role in the school was actually more than 'instructor of miscellanea' that his title claimed. She had learned that after succeeding her trials and had been given her journeyman rings, he was the 'retrieval specialist' for the school and to a lesser extent for the city government.

"Ah, Master Baslin, it is always a pleasure." She said as she got up to offer him a bow. "I was studying." He waved her comment aside

"And you are still considering your course of wandering the land in search of magics?" She chuckled at the comment.

"Well it is more of a tradition in the family to wander the land for a while, learn what we can where we can. After all, the clan gained leverage by doing so and found our way here to this lovely city." She gestured towards the window to show the city of Aquaria outside. "I fear I suffer from the family curse, wandering feet." She admitted with a sly smile. "And you need me to look into certain places I imagine?"
It wouldn't be the first or last time that Master Baslin would ask favors of her.

"I think I would like you to use your travels and your families businesses to retrieve certain.. missives for me?" He asked with a wry grin. Rhea chuckled.

"I think I can do that, I assume you're looking for signs to take to the leaders of the city?" She knew of his actions to motivate Aquaria's leadership to a more attentive posture in regional politics. Too many in the city saw their control of the water as the absolute method of holding primacy in the region. She, on the other hand, favored her father's position of detente and a wider awareness of the comings and goings of others in the region. History, he liked to point out, was full of groups who blandly assumed they had superiority in situations only to be washed from history and leaving only ruins to show their ever being. Baslim chuckled as he poured the tea and sat by her.

"Yes, let's talk of the folk you will need to see." He said as he pulled a small crystal from his robe and set it humming, a charm against all manners of eavesdroppers. They talked of many things he wanted her to investigate in her trek.

History

Rhea's family is a well established merchant family with connections all in many circles as would suit a long term merchant trade group. She knows that her father and mother play the 'long game' of politics and alliances and is profoundly grateful that her old brothers and sister are the ones being trained in the art of the merchant. She, as the seventh child of a seventh child, was 'gifted' with the family legacy of magic. In their case, magic tainted by a curse from ancient times. She was a throw back, showing the 'taint' of darker magics. She attended to her studies and pointedly made it known that while she might know of the darker influences she preferred elementals to diabolic allies and that her interests were in the purer unpinnings of magic by studying Adjuration. She has started the traditional 'trek' that many of her families do, wandering the world at large and relying on her power and skills to make her way. Of course, she also has engaged in the 'long game' in her own way. Passing on missives of things she sees in her travels to those she trusts to see what it might mean for her homeland.

As an alternate, Hina might have had the knack to be the Wizard her father wished for... as I have a better grasp of the game than I did yesterday, she could be a 7th lvl Transmuter with very little effort on my part...

I could see that as well. You could also just go all monk too, which would be cool as well. One is main magic, the other is more of a wildcard. Support with skills, and back up melee if we end up lacking in that area. Also, very nice writing to you and Callie. I like.

Update for people, I have finally gotten some caffeine in my system. Do not ask the foul methods of how I did this, considering it's too hot to even think of Coffee. The requested setting detail is being written up on a thread as we speak.  I'm Loving all the great characters being submitted. Note that questions or concerns about them will be mentioned after I make my final selection. So be open to changes to make sure things mesh well.

Tagan

Hina as is does fit the Wildcard slot best I suppose.

Also, I'd like to add that if you are not selected for this one; there have been positions opened up in the other two. Wildcard for Blades Campaign, and Support for my other one. I have an interested person in the support role though, so that may not be as open as I think. :-) Still, application still applies. I love seeing well built character sheets, and have an awesome way to integrate the character. As for the Wildcard one, contact Eternal Blade.

I'll second that notion!  It's a pretty impressive endeavor you've set for yourself, BH, and I can't help but follow the story whether I'm a part of it or not.

Thanks, both of you. That means a lot. I have a lot of ambition for this project, but it wouldn't be possible to fulfill without Eternal Blade pitching in to help GM. I couldn't have done all four initial threads, or the coming ones of the other continents without him. Shandrath is just too massive for one person to cover. :-)

Let me pitch in my two cents... I admire your work, as well as this project, enough to offer (once I know the system well enough) to pinch hit as GM for you if you need it.

Even if you don't get me a spot here... though that'd slow down my getting to know the system a bit I guess.  ;)

Crovonovin

I can certainly vouch for Tagan's ability to co-DM, having had the pleasure of writing under her in the past!

Once you know your way around 3.5e, Pathfinder really isn't very difficult to grasp.  The fact that the SRD is completely open was a huge help when I was first learning the system.  On that note, if you have any questions about the system jumbling around, I'd be as happy to help out as anyone else!

Even if you don't make it in here, the other two games while having been going for a bit need a player each. We can probably fit you into one of those if you made a character for the needed roles. :-) And thanks, once we got the sub-forum and I had enough information up for the setting that other people would have a good time running in it, I was gonna look for others to do such.

EDIT: Setting detail is taking much longer then I thought to write out. Should be up by tomorrow for interested parties. T_T I'm too slow at this sometimes. Hehe. ;D

Okay this is the second write up for my character with some changes mainly to his classes he is now a fighter sorcerer dragon disciple.

Ash: Specialist
Lithonian, or as he goes by in most lands, Ash, was raised in the exotic Elven forest in near to Galtean settlers' who had declared their independence just before Ash had been born. He grew up with his people in the throes of war, them getting ready for the coming of Galtea's legions, and the young lad had to learn how to fight fast. The first time Ash killed a man was at the tender age(for an elf)of twenty, and from their his skill only grew. By the time Amecca had fought off the hordes of the northern invaders with their Elven allies, Lithonian was already an accomplished skirmisher, and had even acted as a spy or scout at times.

From there he found the quiet life that his people went right back to, rather dull, and so he went out looking for adventure. Eventually his journeys brought him to Rosalia, where he found the pace of life to match that of his own still youthful spirit. He's still honing his skill at sword and bow, and the abilities of stealth and trickery, but he is a great aid to any group, and has traveled with two generations of human adventures thus far. His own elven mind moves slower than his companions, and thus he has had to part ways with allies that out paced him with their shorter lifespans, but he carries the memories of them with him, as well as those of the fallen.

{I'll send in my other two characters shortly.}

Eternal Blade

Terra: Mage
Terra was born to a couple commoners of Rosalia, her parents both clerks at the same store where they met one another. It was a quiet life, until a man came to the store, and seen something in Terra, and asked to take her away for training in the "Highest Arts". Her parents initially refused, the man however was from the mages Guild, a prominent and powerful entity, and told her parents of this. Her parents, while reluctant after that, were no longer in the mind to refuse. Her training under her new master was difficult to say the least, the first thing he had to do was train the young woman to read and write as she did not already possess the skill.

Upon her graduation from her master, he told her she needed to do more studies under him, to fine tune her art, and she told him what she thought about that. She knew the laws, and she wasn't about to let this man keep her from using the power that had not come as easily as she would have liked. She left using the same laws he had the day he took her from her family, and went out to fulfill her dreams. She has had more than her fair share of troubles in her time, including being the only one to get out of two tight spots, and the loss of allies has been disheartening. She remembers those who fought next to her, and for her, and always looks to the future as she slowly creeps up on the day that she surpasses her one time master.

Eternal Blade

Azura: Wild Card
Azura was born a slave to north east Galtea, her family had been slaves for generation in the cold harsh environment, being bred with other half elves to keep up the stocks of natural born slaves. She was one such, and highly prized for her beauty. The man who had bought her from the empire, was a terrible man, and the things he did to her she still refuses to speak of. However as she grew up more and more, she eventually began to display unusual power, and the man began to worry what would happen if the Galtean mages guild learned that she was developing sorcery.

The nobleman covered it up at the time, and kept her hidden away whenever there was a social gathering. That only allowed Azura to develop her abilities further, and eventually she managed to kill the noble with a spell. That had not turned out well for her, and she was sentenced to death. Death was not to come to her however, as a man in the crow threw a dagger at the noose that was around her neck just as it snapped tight. She fled, silently thanking whoever he was for his kindness, and she vowed to always try to show such kindness and courage from that day onward. She soon found herself in Rosalia, where she found a people that didn't care about the tattoo on her lower back that marked her as a slave of Galtea.

{unless you have some REAL AWESOME, I'm only playing one of these three characters!}

So... well, I'm only submitting one character right now.  Would you mind looking it over, Black Howling?

Lady Lunarius

#62

Found as a child by a cleric of Desna, Naomi grew up learning the art of healing and aiding those in need. She and her mentor traveled everywhere and often, seeking the freedom of the roads rather than the cages of the cities. They helped anyone any way they could, healing the sick, and giving aid to parties. It wasn't long before a young Naomi grew to wanting her own adventures, her own stories to tell.

Her mentor who'd been like a mother to her for so long knew that it was time for Naomi to go her own path. And so, leaving her with a parting gift, she took off in the night, only a letter and the starknife the woman had long treasured. Despite the knowledge that it would be hard, and that her troubles could be many Naomi trusted the goddess to take her where she'd need to be, to those who would aid her.

For a few years she traveled as she had with her mentor, visiting villages far as the eye could see, until she met with some adventurers, and then she learned what being a part of the team could do. How aiding those, and having them watch your back as well, could truly be freeing in and of itself and so she stuck with them until they went their ways. Even then she did not stop, having had a taste of truer adventuring she sought out yet another group, and another.
((Not filling in the first days spells just yet as you know Howling, but I can if you feel it'd make it more "complete"))

Because of the need for a rogue to understand how things work rather than the old hand to hand coordination I guess.

That is how it was on 3.5, but on Pathfinder it goes off of dexterity; and has since the release of the book. I would know, as I usually only get to play rogues. >_> So while I enjoy player input, I would think you should look at the skill as listed next time.

Good character sheet for the most part. My only issues are these:
She has no traveling gear:
The Emphasis on int lowers her wisdom based skills, which seem like they have more focus then her int based ones. Explain please?
What blade said about your listed change to the disable device skill. That had to be hand done, as I know from experience that plothooks has it listed correctly.
HP's not listed, and final attack notes aren't either. Would like to see those, though I know I'm gonna have to say this one to a few people. *eyes the rest of you that don't have it listed*

Please address those. I have some concerns over the Damphir's negative to positive energy transfer, but noted it already when I listed them down as a playable race.

Sure thing.  Just wanted to get the draft in.  I hope to work on it again tonight.

It's not a debate here at-least, wrong forum for that and the core rules has a +5 enhancement bonus against the debate anyhow. Lol. :P

What is it to a man if he gains the world but loses his soul.

Twilight doesn't exist nor should it ever had existed. Those things are not vampires no matter how much she wants to say they are. They are fey simple as that.

Excellent a castlevania fan.

In related news...if you're stilll looking for people. Let me know what you need rolled. I can play temp if you want. Or if you want I can draft something more permanent.

Ixy

-Tweaked the equipment (scaled down headband, added to cloak, added mundane gear)
-Added attack bonuses for each weapon and 2-weapon fighting
-Added weights and weapon/armor data
-Fixed Disable Device
-Toned down Intelligence, increased wisdom and, slightly, con.  Better represents the jill-of-all-trades category to have more balanced mental attributes, especially since-- as specialist-- she's responsible for knowing, noticing, fixing/breaking, AND talking their way out of/into situations.  I took it seriously when it comes to the skill-monkey aspect... losing 7 ranks was tough, but balance is better.
-Added HP... full 1st, half +2 for subsequent.

And, on that note, it's hotter than the nine hells here tonight, so I'm off to drink sweet-tea vodka until it gets cool enough to sleep.

I am slightly tipsy, but I counted that you were a few hundred GP off on your gold. By the time I was done with the magic alone, it was 300 over. Might have made a mistake, but....not sure. Otherwise, the character sheet looks good from my look over. you'll need to fix the GP mistake though. I'm also gonna inform you that I think the negative energy affinity should be vetoed. My reasoning is that I haven't seen a Half Vamp Template with it before, and that it makes things hard on the healer. So it will be ignored. You, at least, react to it fine.

Also thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and look things over. I know how hard losing 7 skill ranks are, but am glad you seen my concern. :)

Opheliac

Do you still want me to make a character for this campaign too? If so, what role?

Ixy

I'll itemize and correct the equipment.  fyi, I'll be unable to post between Saturday morning and Sunday night.

Actually, it's the hardest selection I've had so far. I want to say that I'm very impressed with the lineup everyone has given. It's making this very difficult to choose the best group and I don't think there is a single character presented here that isn't/hasn't been considered through my selection so far. The final cut will be made by Midnight on Friday, CST.(actually Saturday morning, but midnight Friday sounds better)Thank you to everyone for presenting characters that have given me this many ideas for the setting. It's been truly appreciated and enjoyed. :D

Crovonovin

Glad to have been of assistance, no matter the outcome!  Building an entire setting is such an ambitious undertaking, and to run multiple games concurrently in it even more so.  I look forward to seeing where it all goes!

I'm a little late with it, but some things came up. Here are the final decisions. I had to think very carefully about this. Some people will also need to make some changes. If they don't, I'll have to skip down the list and choose the next one up. Thank you all for these wonderful concepts.

Melee Combatant: Shihong's Magus: Third time does seem to be the charm. Magus needs some work though. I don't feel comfy with his Melee combat, I think his feats aren't quite concentrated enough. Swap one for Great Cleave and it should be fine. I could like more, but the others in the Power Attack roster take some skill to use. Also, his AC is a little low for the level. I expect at-least a 25 right now, and you could have easily gotten that in heavy armor. My advice would be to ditch the Adamantine and bump up the enchantment with that gold. Last but not least his attack bonus could be a little higher. Since your weapon is Holy I assume it's also +1? You haven't calculated that in, and should. A weapon focus feat would bring it to the preferred for the level which is +14. Please make those adjustments, and I'll be happy to clarify if needed. Spending report would be appreciated as well.

PS: Love that new pic you found. Much better angle, and shows his face in better view. Please use it for Imagery as the other sideline angle does not show the face how I would like. Texture on it also gives a somewhat dirty feel.

Support: Lady Lunarius's Naomi: I see no issues with the character sheet. It looks good. *Stamps Approval*

Specialist: Ixy's Vashti: I really liked the backstory and how you went through the trouble of tweaking her with me. I Would love to welcome her in, and I see no issues with the sheet now. Only suggestion I could make would be to try and integrate some ranged options to her Arsenal of feats, but I understand the want for the combat expertise. She is accepted as is.

Magic: Eternal Blade's Terra: Really like the look of her, and this group certainly needs the ranged Artillery she is bound to provide.

Wildcard Role: Alucarddalv's Val: Build number one. My math came up clean on the sheet as well, though you'll need to change the pic. Just noticed it's anime, and I'm trying to keep the anime feel out the game. I like it, but it tends to lend toward a less gritty feel. I doubt it was your intent in the first place though. Picture is not required but it is preferred just to let you know.

I'll need to be informed of the changes, if any, that are made to the characters. And if those that were told to change things do not, I'll move down the list. Thanks again for working up the characters :D

Callie Del Noire

Crovonovin

Thanks for the advice, Black Howling!  Nixed the Adamantine and used the money to bump the armor enhancement, and bought an Amulet of Natural Armor to bump the AC up to 27.  Also finagled the feats to get the proper to-hit, and corrected the mistake with the sword.

Alucarddalv

Pic removed I need to find another one I wasn't thinking about the no anime thing when I posted it.  Also can't wait to get started I look forward to rping with everyone.
