I am afraid unless it is in my books, I would prefer not to use it.  So the Warlock is probably out :(  Sorry Phantasmatical.  A Druid works though :-)  And the Master of the Wild book is the one of that set I did have, but I have no clue where it is (may turn up eventually, but no guarantees).

I am not actually going to be that picky on classes.  This isn't a traditional game, so a lopsided party my not hurt as much.  Plus I have always found them interesting ;)

Same here.  I hate having to do the tank, healer, mage, rogue combination, though if someone wanted to play a warforged, I could kinda be a healer.

Question for you. Can druids have bows as a weapon proficiency? I usually see DMs houserule it in, since it's such a quintessential hunting weapon (certainly more "natural" in theme than a scimitar). Probably just the shortbow, seeing as the longbow isn't very practical in thick woods for a mobile hunter.

Im interested in this game, and Ive come up with three different character ideas....

Not listed in any particular order, here are my concepts:
1) Kobold Druid/Shaman
2) Tiefling Monk
3) Xeph Psion.

Of these three, the Kobold is actually the one I want to play most, but because of the "Passing as 'civilized' races" clause, Im thinking that this would mean that it wouldnt have any part of the deed to the island, and may be one of the native monster races ambassadors.

The Tiefling Monk just sounded like an odd combination that might be fun to play. XD

And Ive never played a character out of XPH, and Im interested in trying that out... But I may have to save that idea for later. :)

If you do require any help fitting the Kobold into the setting, I may have a solution!  I'm building my character as an archetypal diplomat, the sort with enough honeyed words to put a beehive to shame.  It could be that your character and he have some sort of agreement or past relationship that would persuade him to have you given passage aboard the ship in a more official capacity.  If you think that might work and Ivy okays it, feel free to shoot me a message once you've got a specific character lined up!

Hmmm, the kobold ambassador idea is interesting, but I was envisioning the island as more of an us against them sort of situation.  I won't strictly rule it out, but we would need to come up with a reason he and his tribe would be willing to deal with the humans and vice versa.

The Tiefling Monk or Xeph Psion would be fine.  Though the former may obviously have issues.

The island would be populated by a variety of monsters, with only a small human population, and they would need to work together to survive.

This is what actually got me thinking that it was supposed to be the Humans working with the Monster population, and gave me the kobold ambassador idea. As an individual kobold, I can easily make it workable for a humanoid group, but not the whole tribe.

Im working on the psion's character sheet right now. Are we rolling physical dice (which I prefer), or using a dicebot (which I'll settle for)?

Looks like Aurick is a very taciturn and reserved person who has received many, many blows to the head. He says very little, but when he does talk it's gruff, coarse, and unrefined. He does get the job done though.
