I know what you mean man. I was going for gritty and chance of death so Quicksilver is not as powerful as he could be. Don't worry about Cyclops though. He is very good at standing against some very powerful enemies. Not much that can counter concentrated energy to the face.

TamaRose

Don't get rid of Cyclops. He is stronger than you think. Plus, he is an awesome, intelligent leader that has a good heart. There is nothing wrong with that. It's all in how you play him.

When Cyclops looks like a chump, it's because he's letting you think he's a chump.  And that's an assumption that usually ends with a facefull of Fastball Special.  The man's a tactical genius, after all.  And able to keep up in the Danger Room with people like Wolverine and Nightcrawler, despite having no enhanced physical abilities.

Which reminds me... X-23?  Care to practice the Fastball Special?

History:
Dante was a drummer from Illinois when the Terrigen Cloud from Black Bolt's destruction of Attilan was released, travelling from the Manhattan skyline across the world. Because Dante had an Inhuman gene when he was exposed, along with his elderly mother, the two formed cocoons, however due to the Inhuman gene being stronger in him, only he emerged from the pair. When he awoke he found himself in the company of Lash, an Inhuman from a Greenland settlement called Orollan, who was travelling the world and making sure only the strongest and best of these 'Nuhumans' would survive. Believing him the murderer of his mother, dead in her crumbling grey cocoon, Dante's powers awoke and he attacked Lash, until Medusa arrived herself to collect this new Inhuman. Medusa had been travelling the world thanks to another Inhuman, Eldrac the Living Door to be there to collect the Nuhumans and bring them back to her rebuilding of Atillan, a place she called New Atillan, an Inhuman island on the Hudson River.

Fighting off Lash, Medusa took Dante in, along with his pregnant sister Gabby, who had seemingly not undergone Terrigenesis with the rest of her small family. Dante was not in control of his powers at first, catching fire whenever he lost his temper and being unable to quell them, needing to be knocked out by Gorgon on one occasion to stop burning himself out. Gorgon took Dante under his wing to train, something the veteran member of the Royal Inhumans was well versed in. Gorgon taught Dante at first he was not broken and could not be fixed, he was an Inhuman now for the rest of his life, but he could be trained and have better control of his powers. Outfitted with a new fireproof Inhuman uniform, he underwent training. It was Gabby who decided his new post-Terrigenesis Inhuman name; Inferno.

The first mission Inferno went out on was to stop Lash. Partly for vengeance and partly on a promise Gabby would be cared by the best medicine the Inhumans had to offer, he ventured through Eldrac with Medusa, Gorgon, Triton and others. In the combat Dante faired less than well due to Lash's Inhuman ability of absorbing energy, which included Dante's flames and it was a double-team of Gorgon and Medusa that finally convinced Lash to stop killing the Nuhumans in exchange for his continued existance. Dante was shocked at how he was eager to kill Lash, though noone died that day. Bringing a Nuhuman back with them to New-Attilan, Flint; a highschool senior who could control minerals, Flint and Dante bonded as two previously human people now suddenly Inhuman.

Drinking out in Manhattan one evening, Dante and Flint came across another Nuhuman, Naja and on venturing back to New-Attilan the three discovered that the previous Inhuman king, The Unspoken had laid a coup and took the island from Medusa and they were barred from entering the settlement. With Gabby still inside New-Attilan, the three had to find a way back into the island's main settlement. With Naja helping the two guys by flying and carrying the pair over to the island on the cover of night, the three make it in, find Gabby and the Inhuman doctor Vinatos, the trio and Vinatos at their side make it to The Unspoken and battle the former Inhuman King. Vinatos is killed but Flint manages to weaken The Unspoken and Dante uses as much of his flames as he can, causing a backlash which burns him out to an ashen rock form. However the Unspoken is weakened enough to be knocked out by Naja with a single punch.

Dante recovered and despite not being fully healed, he went on a mission with Gorgon and another Nuhuman called Nur to find and bring back Black Bolt. However the pain from near burning out once had Dante hesitate when they found Maximus and Black Bolt. In the ensuing skirmish, Black Bolt was freed from Maximus' mind control and he took his vengeance upon his evil brother before flying away. Dante next helped Gorgon by lending him his cellphone (as it was not a comm linked to New-Attilan's network) to secretly call Captain America to have the Avengers stop Medusa's plans to go to war against humanity when she was Inverted to a villianous persona due to the events of AXIS.
Since then Dante fought in the streets of New-Attilan when the evil Inhuman corporation Ennilux invaded New-Attilan to gain a hold on the Nuhuman girl Iso.

Powers:
Dante can pull flames from his very substance, from within him. He essentially forms his inner fire as actual fire, which use his body as a fuel. He can and is learning to better control this fire, both gaining a fire form when needed along with the ability to throw fireballs too. He can make the heat of these flames increase and if fired on, he can melt bullets into steam in mid-air. Whilst his Inhuman uniform when going out on missions is flame-proof, he himself is not and if he does not transform into a molten rock form, the flames will burn him. The longer he stays as molten rock, the longer it takes for this rock armour to return to his normal human appearance, though it can be assumed he gains some armour from the cooled purple hard skin in the meanwhile once the fire is burned out. If he doesn't use his powers for a few days, he'll heal right up, including any hair burnt away by his flames, meaning he has a healing factor too.

Abilities:

Weaknesses:
Dante's flames burn from his body, using it as fuel. He also has a lack of control over the flames in that they may flare up when his temper is frayed. If he uses too much of his flames, his body will crumble into a burning ash form which will peter his flames out and knock him out.

Equipment:
A flame-proof Inhuman suit.

Personality:
Dante is usually quite a social and cool rocker guy, who is friendly and quite easy to get along with when he's not fired up about defending his loved ones. He's a drummer for hire by occupation and he is protective of his sister, Gabby. He does however have a bit of hot-bloodedness to him, which has defined his Inhuman abilities. In recent time his confidence had taken a bit of a knock after burning out fighting against The Unspoken, though he seems to have picked himself back up when Ennilux attacked, he still worries about the exact control he has over his fire manifestation ability.

Near every mission he has undertaken or action he has done has been in defence of either New-Attilan or Gabby and he is just as protective of her unborn child as he is about her. Now he knows what he is, he is proud of his Inhuman heritage and does not abide anyone who is prejudiced against his people. Dante is perhaps overly eager to get involved with the defence of New-Attilan, even going so far as to fighting when not fully healed from previous battles.

Known Enemies: Lash and the Orollan Inhumans, The Unspoken, Ennilux Corporation, Inhuman enemies.

20% of the female cast list is his woman problems...

Juggtacular

Too bad Logan isn't here to claim to be Scott's friend, yet do nothing but belittle and bad mouth him, question all of his decisions, be nothing but a hypocrite(blame Scott for killing Xavier when a space bird turned him evil, while Jean's just confused, and none of his brainwashed murder sprees matter), and try to fuck his wife, and girlfriend, and every other woman Scott was ever intimate with.

Isn't Wolverine just awesome?

wander

Actually since Schism, Scott and Logan have had a severe dislike of each other and have not been anywhere near friends. Though I think it's traced back further to Logan returning to the academy and seeing that Scott and Emma become official after Jean Grey died her latest time. They even fought on the lawn, one of quite a few they've had on that pitch of grass.

Logan also has never tried it on with anyone but Jean and even then he liked her from afar in a courtly love manner.

Juggtacular

Oh I know. I was talking before that when Logan did say Scott was one of his best friends, yet did nothing but basically all what I said. Since Schism he got worse and dropped the pretense of being friends. Yet he continued to do stuff like give Jean a free pass for going Dark Phoenix, but wanted to crucify Scott(a non psychic) for losing control. Basically Logan is a huge asshole and likes to give everyone a hard time, yet hates it when people do the same. He's a huge hypocrite and I kinda lost all respect for the character when he turned into an uber dick and FOX started trying to shove him down everybody's throat(but that's something else entirely lol)

wander

A fair point, I do agree.

But Scott isn't exactly an angel himself. I really hate him tbh, pretty much since he ditched Madelyne Pryor. They actually had to write her becoming evil in Inferno and a clone made by Sinister to make it seem like Scott didn't do so much of a dick move there.

However... I think he's a more interesting character right now than Logan was. I am still a loyal reader of Uncanny X-Men, having dropped all other X-titles at this point, because Cyclops is a dick, but's he's an interesting dick to read. I don't know why but I find his nervous mental breakdown and his mutant revolution totally captivating, where LoganxStorm and the Jean Grey Academy just ended pissing me off in how bollocks it all was.

Primarch

#67
Player Name: Primarch
Superhero/villain: The Sentry
Real Name: Robert Reynolds
Age: 30
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Base of Operations: Space
Powers:

Powers & Weaknesses
  • Chemically Enhanced Physiology: The Sentry's superhuman powers and abilities derive from a special version of the Super-Soldier Serum of which it's potency was increased thousands of times and altered making it much more potent. The experimental serum creates a phase-shift in his molecules, causing the Sentry to become partially out of synch with normal reality. The serum induces a photosynthetic reaction, resulting in a hyperstate of consciousness. Though most of his powers and their limits are still unknown, the Sentry has been said to have the power of a million exploding suns, and he has displayed several abilities similarly possessed by Superman. He is so powerful that Dark Ms. Marvel theorized in front of Norman Osborn that what happened after Scarlet Witch breakdown will be nothing compared to what Sentry will do. The Sentry's strength greatly varies depending on his appearances, and this was dependent on his mental instability. Spider-Man at one point casually remarked that he once stalemated Galactus, although there is no proof of him doing so, it was later stated by X-Man that him and the Sentry together battled Galactus. He was stated to be an Omega-Level Threat by Mister Fantastic, and Nick Fury's intel classified him as Power Level 10+.
  • Molecular Manipulation: Following a confrontation with Molecule Man, Robert discovered he has the powers of molecular manipulation which he had used to revert himself from the liquid Molecule man had turned him into. The extent of these powers are not yet known, but he was able to defeat the Molecule Man. However it should be noted that unlike Molecule Man, Sentry has little control of his powers and that Owen was severely depowered during their fight. Since The Void and the Sentry are essentially the same person with differing personalities, The Void's own shapeshifting might be a result of the Sentry's molecular manipulation. Additionally Reynold's molecular manipulation ability theoretically would give him potential regenerative healing abilities as well despite his extraordinary invulnerability and durability. It has been theorized that the vast majority of his powers are derived from his ability to alter matter and energy and that he could simulate almost any superpower with enough practice and control. He seems to do this unconsciously as the void when he changes shape and power sets. It is also possible that he had survived from being disintegrated by Morgan Le Fay due to the same power. Since losing his agoraphobia, and therefore gaining full control over his powers (in Uncanny Avengers), he has been able to utilize his power to manipulate molecules to create Sand Golems capable of downing a full size Wasp. He can also use it in ways such as stopping a full-speed Mjolnir throw directed at him by Thor.
  • Superhuman Strength: The Sentry's strength varies greatly and depends on his mental stability. The Sentry possesses vast superhuman strength, granting him the ability to lift (press) far in excess of 100 tons easily. He is one of the strongest beings in the Universe. He has demonstrated several astonishing feats of strength during his career, including easily lifting tremendous weights, ripping Carnage in two, taking Terrax the Tamer's cosmic axe and shattering it with his bare hands,[14] lifting a cruise liner effortlessly, and his unrestrained power overloaded the Absorbing Man. The Void was even able to break the Hulk's limbs with relative ease, and the Sentry himself was able to easily kill Ares by ripping him in half. He can also absorb solar radiation for additional strength. The Sentry has yet to demonstrate an upper-limit to his strength, but he has shown that it can rival the likes of the Hulk, although this depends on his mental state.
  • Superhuman Speed: The Sentry possesses the ability to think, move, and react at superhuman speeds. He has been observed catching bullets and has also been seen moving far in excess of supersonic speeds; his speed on earth is enough to be gauged as fast enough to move at orbital velocity (5 miles a second). It should also be noted that the Sentry has numerously been depicted as able to fly to the sun in a matter of moments (where it takes light over 8 minutes). This shows that his speed during inter-stellar travels is several times in excess of the speed of light, or (alternately) demonstrative of an ability to enter hyperspace.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Sentry's enhanced musculature is far more efficient than that of a human. As a result his muscles produce no fatigue toxins. However, his stamina greatly varies, depending on his mental state.
  • Superhuman Agility: Sentry's natural balance, agility, and body coordination are enhanced to levels that are far beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
  • Superhuman Reflexes: The Sentry can react at superhuman speeds exceeding several times the speed of Sound. Sentry was able to catch a sniper bullet from an advanced Skrull gun (typical sniper bullets travel at mach 4).
  • Superhuman Senses: The Sentry possesses vastly enhanced senses. He is able to hear almost any sound at any volume or pitch. The only Earth creature who can detect sounds at the frequencies he can is a blue whale (0.01-200,000 Hz). He has shown enough control to block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source/frequency (He has demonstrated hearing a butterfly's heartbeat in Africa). The range of his eyesight is also far greater than that of a human being. He is able to detect a single person from hundreds of miles in the air and above cloud level. The full extent of Robert's other senses superhuman capabilities is unknown.
  • Flight: The Sentry possesses the ability to float by defying gravity, utilizing his superhuman speed to fly far above hypersonic speeds (above mach 10). He has demonstrated traveling to the Sun and back in a matter of moments which would require him to fly at speeds faster than light (or bypassing normal space through a hyperspace shortcut). And during the Skrull's secret invasion he flew to Saturn (about 746 million miles distance) almost immediately, which required him either to move at many times the speed of light (still thought to be impossible in this space-time) or to have bypassed space altogether thus giving the impression that he had moved faster than light-speed. He has also been stated to travel at many times the speed of light. At such speeds that not even a god of Asgard could withstand.
  • Nigh Invulnerability: The Sentry is, for all intents and purposes, almost completely impervious to harm, unless he wills himself to be killed he has shown no direct weakness. He has been seen surviving extremely harsh atmospheric conditions, including the vacuums of space. Nick Fury has stated that so far S.H.I.E.L.D. has yet to find a way to kill him, and even Iron Man's scanners found no physiological weaknesses in the Sentry's body. Like all of his abilities, his durability depends on his mental state, he can go to completely no-selling Class 100-level characters but as soon as he wishes himself dead he could be killed in an instant, notably in Siege where he asked Thor to kill him. He has also been damaged when he requested to Hulk to punch him in during the Green Goliath's takeover of Manhattan to prevent himself from destroying everyone on the Earth.
  • Photokinesis: It may be theorized that the Sentry also has the superhuman ability to generate, control, and emit light. This ability to produce hard-light constructs may be similar to those of Dazzler when it was revealed that the Void is a just an expression of his repressed persona, and thus his creation, he has also used it to block an energy blast from Terrax.
  • Light Projection: By conscious control over the light he produces, he can control its direction, frequency (color), amplitude (intensity), and duration. The Sentry can produce numerous effects with the light he manipulates. He can simply cause a bright glow all about his body. He can create a pulse of light on the order of several tens of thousands lumens of power per second (the sun produces at most 10,000 lumens of brightness at noontime), which temporarily blinds people with its brilliance. This ability has been proven to be able to calm down the Hulk.
  • Energy Blasts: The Sentry can generate light, heat, force, and other forms of energy as powerful blasts and explosions of a yellow color. These blasts are usually generated from the hands and eyes. The maximum power of these blasts is unknown. It has shown previously to be capable of burning Hulks skin and levelling city blocks in the past.
  • Psionic Abilities: The Sentry possesses powerful psychic and mental powers mainly used for holding his physical form together, (though it is not yet known whether the Sentry can use them the way Professor X and other psychics use theirs). The only psychic abilities he has displayed so far was implanting his memories inside Paul Jenkins' mind. The Sentry was able to erase himself from the memories of every being on the planet, with the help of CLOC, Dr Strange and Reed Richards.
  • Healing Factor: The Sentry can heal himself from virtually all injuries. He twice even came back from being molecularly dispersed, during his fights with the Molecule Man and Morgan le Fay.
  • Resurrection: The Sentry appears to be able to bring the dead back to life under extreme emotional distress. After Ultron murdered his wife, Sentry was able to resurrect her by simply touching her. It does not appear he has control over this power, as he was shocked by his ability to do such an act. This may also extend to simply healing others' injuries.

Weaknesses:
  • Psychic Assault: The Sentry has a fragile psyche and is readily susceptible to mental manipulation.
  • The Negative Zone: The Sentry is at his weakest in the Negative Zone. His powers and health gradually deteriorate the longer he is inside the zone itself and even worse, his counterpart/nemesis The Void's powers increase to maximum.
  • Average Fighting Skill and Lack of Control: For a person with no formal combat training, Robert is to be considered at least an average combatant, being able to dodge a point blank punch from Thor then deliver a solid uppercut to such an experienced combatant proves at least a reasonable degree of skill. However, in comparison to Combat Expert's, he still falls short. This was once exploited by Hercules. He also doesn't seem to have complete control over all of his abilities, as he didn't even know he was capable of Molecular Control until his battle with the Molecule Man and was genuinely shocked after reviving his wife from the dead.

Actually thinking about it... I might make my second character an OC when it comes up. I've been wanting to play Alexi once again! Might have to make some changes though with all the near unkillable characters popping up. Or I could bring back some Spiral goodness, depending on what everyone likes? Four arms or six? Well then again Alexi can have as many arms as she likes.... Hmmm... I've always wanted to try a Typhoid Mary as well. Hope Summers might make a good character for the RP as well....

TamaRose

Before we lose anymore main characters why don't we all agree every character from Marvel has their own issues. Not all of us are going to like the same person. I personally have a dislike for Jean and Emma but I can't see the Marvel world without them.

I am sorry to see you go eternaldarkness but I understand. It could have been fun.

I kinda hope my post wasn't a nail in the door to push a player out... I was just adding my own comment on the Logan vs Scott angle.

Totally forgot about Sentry, I'd have loved to have played him... He was my fave Marvel character for a good long while... I have his Marvel Knights trade paperback.

Sentry and X-23 in a game... Things will be interesting. Its gonna be those two I'm gonna biting my tongue about when they veer OOC... xD
