Immediately following Winston's recall, both Overwatch and Talon's plans were accelerated across the world. With the underlying tensions between omnics and humans being stoked across the globe, things seem more dire now than they were right after the Omnic Crisis.

Well, the world could always use more heroes...

Timeframe
This takes place immediately after the animated shorts, where Winston's initiated the recall, Mondatta has been assassinated, Genji has revealed himself to Hanzo, and Sombra's booped Katya Volskaya.

The starting point for the players will be for them to travel the world and recruit members for Overwatch, new and old, canonical and OC. You could play a recruiter or a recruitee. During all of this, hotspots will pop up around the world allowing for players to do heroic things and such.

Format
I will likely make a number of threads based around 'maps', some seen in game and others not. For example, I am imagining that Pharah, Mercy and Symmetra are all in Oasis. The first as a security contractor, the second as a scientist, and the third as an agent for Vishkar. Both 'casual' RP and important events will occur in these threads.

The game will be freeform, but character strengths and weaknesses will be determined by role and/or 'counters'. If you play an OC, keep that in mind as if you were making them for the game. I will trust my players not to make someone totally overpowered and also for you guys to reasonably adjudicate who will win in a fight. Then again, Winston beat Reaper in one of the animated shorts because the plot required it so... *big shrug*

We're all adults here, that's all I'll say about 'PvP.'

Canons or OCs
For the most part, I'll play the canonical characters. If I have a lot of trust in you, I may allow players to take the role of canonical characters. One of the most important things to me will be a consistency with lore. OCs of course are the 'chaos element' of the equation.

I had a perfect idea for this as I was walking home from work today. I was thinking of someone who was abducted and subjected to heavy chemical testing-think the comic version of Bane, who gets hopped up on Venom. Many of the others in the program hulked out and lost their minds, while he was able to keep his mind centered by thinking of his family outside, and that he was going to return to them. One day, the experiment went out of control as the roided up mutants started smashing everything-him included, but he had enough presence of mind to get out. After escaping, he found that his wife and child had been killed. He doesn't know who did it, but he blames Talon because it gives him something to focus his rage (natural and chemical induced) on. Strengths would be everything the Tank class focuses on (takes a ton of hits), weaknesses would include low mobility, and a tendency to rage. And he would be one of the recruitees, he sure as hell isn't seeking out Overwatch on his own.

I was thinking that a now defunct Pharmaceutical company was behind the experiments, now defunct because the mutants blew up the main building and therefore people found out what was happening. But before I go any further, this sound cool to anyone who ISN'T me?

Sounds reasonable enough. :P Consistent with the setting too, as Talon evidently did something to Widowmaker, since her blue skin comes from having a much slower heartrate and whatever other physiological changes they made to her. Could even tie in with her...

Edit: Or even some kind of messed up version of the super soldier serum used on Jack and Gabriel...

I was figuring something like that. Maybe a serum meant to make a person's cells regenerate naturally, as a way to combat wasting illnesses and disease-and hopefully without the risk of cancer (cause cancer is, well, cells multiplying out of control). Well, cancer was the least of their worries, and how rare of a sentence is THAT?

Another weakness would be him losing control in the middle of a fight and just going ham on whatever's in arm's reach. So when it gets to that point he'll be screaming for his allies to run-basically, get the fuck out of the way, he's going in!

If you're allowing canon characters I would love to play D. Va who has semi-retired from mech fighting and become a true K-Pop star who turns in her skimpy outfit and microphone for a mech once again. Just kidding, she's definitely not turning in her skimpy outfit when she goes back! ;) Seriously, a D. Va -esque character would also work for a true OC but something along those lines would be a lot of fun to write.

I suppose I should expand the premise to be able to include 'wildcard' characters not directly affiliated with Overwatch or Talon, like Sym, D.Va, or Trashmouse and Streetpig. In part, if he's so dangerous... I don't know if Tracer and Winston (who I imagine are at the head of the recruitment effort) would be so eager to get him to join. Though, of course, he can certainly end up at the same place and time as some Overwatch/Talon operation goes down.

I find D.Va exists in kind of a vacuum and it's hard to say how she would be involved. She seems like a prime candidate for recruitment into the new Overwatch... but I don't know if she'd so quickly abandon her duty to protect South Korea. An early goal of the newly reorganized Overwatch could be to go to the bottom of the sea and defeat the giant Omnic threatening Korea once and for all. Seems only natural from there that she would join Overwatch once her task is complete.

For some reason I'm imagining a literal slime. Which, you know, in a world of talking Gorillas and flying dragon tattoos... isn't so crazy.

I think a better comparison would be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde from League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. He had some ability to control it, but on occasion he would just straight lose it. At the start, he'll be more inclined to "lose it" a lot more often, but since the "losing it" is triggered by the buildup of a chemical in his blood, I'm sure someone can come up with some sort of "regulator" to help him not "lose it" as often.

Am I making any degree of sense? Anyway, once I get the details hashed out, character sheet incoming.

Zeke Duvalk it is then. The average, maybe slightly sadistic, new jersey native who was tossed in a bar of chemicals when Talon raided the facility he worked at. Through what he calls "weird science shit" his body was turned into a gelatinous form. After a few days his "brain" was formed allowing him to mold his body into a humanoid shape. He's generally a melee fighter with the ability to shape his limbs into blades, hammers and spikes.

I might be interesting in participating.

Not sure as what yet... most of the obvious archetypes seem to have been taken by that dastardly game already.

Still it's appealing because to understand the story I only need to watch a bunch of shorts on Youtube... which is win-win for me!  ;D

Up for a former Overwatch agent who went rogue when they gave it up to keep fighting the fight and has gone a bit Junker native now. She's finally coming in from the heat!

There should be at least a few OW agents that are still out there somewhere, and have yet to respond to the recall. Just cause Tracer jumped at the call doesn't mean everyone did.

That makes sense. I was just guessing without knowing the whole concept in full. A regulator would be pretty fun if we have less overtly combat-oriented characters.

Heh, either idea works; a slime or human furnace. Makes me think of a male Inque from Batman Beyond, who herself was a successor to Clayface... Also great fun for smut!

There's a compilation of them all and it's about an hour long or so. Most of them are pretty disparate and unrelated but they're pretty good. My favorite is probably 'The Last Bastion' even though it doesn't add anything to the story... it quintessentially sums up the themes of the whole setting in a beautiful and touching little self-contained story.

The roster is pretty good, yeah. I have long hated the aesthetic Blizzard's 'Worldcraftian' character design but I love Overwatch's cast. There's over two dozen of them now so I don't mind if players take the reins. Especially since you're right- a lot of the archetypes have been taken. Ninja Cyborg, Female weightlifter, Cowboy, Grumpypants Soldier, Angelic lady, ect.. :P

In my solos thread, I have a number of one on one scenes that I've pitched and I might be interested in writing them with people here, as 'shorts' that elaborate on backstories. In part, it may just be so I can fool around with the incredibly handsome Jack Morrison and the incredibly gorgeous Ana Amari while they were in their prime... but I may also use these shorts as a way of auditioning the canon characters to people..

Reinhardt is one of my favorite characters because he was born before the Omnic Crisis and has every reason to hate Omnics but is still a swell dude that just wants to Don Quixote around the world, serving justice wherever it's needed.

Yeah, if we went this whole thread without the Avengers movie reference, I was going to kill someone.

Side note: Since I'm basically creating the company that did this to my character, I'm throwing in some parallels to Vishkna (is that how you spell it?), because conflict with Symmetra would be fun if it ever comes up.

I may or may not have my own plans for Vishkar... but I don't think they are involved in anything overt like that. They seem to be primarily a real estate and development company... maybe with shades of law enforcement since they apparently used Lucio's sonic technology to 'control the populace'

But I don't think they're the type to go full-blown human experimentation and the like. Talon and any of its front companies, though...

You have it backwards, Lucio jacked the sonic tech to fight Vishkar off.

And the comparisons will be more of how the company presented themselves to the world-both proclaimed to be building a better world or a brighter future, but there's sinister agendas beneath the surface...Dean also isn't one for "better world" talk to begin with. To quote him, "you say you're building a better world, but did you stop to ask people if they wanted it? Maybe they like what they have, warts and all, and don't want some jag-off coming in and telling them they suck."

I see her as an attempt by Overwatch to get in with the Junkers and finally bring about some peace to the rad strewn wastes of Australia, a move that didn't work out super great because the Junkers are a bunch of lawless robot hating psychopaths who think civilized society is for losers. Still she did like the idea of traveling and maybe if someone gave a shit about the Junkers they'd get a real portiion of their homeland back someday.

She knows Pig and Rat because she used to hang out with them back when they were weeeee and has a very complicated relationship with them in that she lets them get away with things and they in return got her into so much trouble Overwatch had to eventually kick her out.

But hey now they might let her back in! Second chances!

Also Mech Battles are the national sport of Junkertown, which is why D.Va has the Junker skin, she wanted to play!

Angie

Ah, just, the way you wrote it made it sound like Vishkar stole Lucio's tech. Which would honestly be kind of funny, but anyway.

I think a big part of the plot is Order, Chaos, and the Balance in-between. Vishkar represents the iron-fisted version of Order, while Talon represents ultra-destructive Chaos. Meanwhile, you have characters like Zenyatta (big into Balance and harmony, also big into getting people together and Unity) or Tracer (mostly Chaotic in the whole free-spirited explorer, but also has a bit of Order as she is a member of Overwatch, a military organization) that represent Balance, or other characters like Lucio that represent the more positive aspects of both sides of the coin. Really, if you asked me, I would say the central conflict of Overwatch's plot (such as it is) is the battle between Order and Chaos and the balance that needs to be struck in-between. You can ALSO say that I'm reading way too much into it, or I'm totally off base, and that's fair.

Codename: None
Real Name: Harold Dean
Age: 32
Nationality: German
Current Occupation: None
Former Occupation: Forensic Scientist
Base: Berlin, Germany
Affiliation: None
Relations: Carolina (Wife), Sarah (Daughter)
Description: Dean is a hulking mass of muscle every since the Titan-Slayer experiments, and would not look out of place on the set of DOOM. Since his cells are constantly regenerating, his black hair is forcibly short-almost buzz cut levels. He constantly looks angry or in pain, due to the restructuring of his facial muscles from the Titan-Slayer experiments. He has little to no body hair on the rest of him. He has blue eyes.
Biography: Dean was originally a simple guy. Forensic Scientist during the day, family man by night. His work wasn't going to cause any breakthroughs, but it helped solve many murder cases with solid lab work. He was respected by the police department and loved by family and friends. This changed when he was abducted by Wholesale Pharmaceutical. The company made their fortune by shipping such incredible quantities of common medicines that most competitors were pushed out, but they had a little project of their own...

Specifically, a chemical dubbed "Titan-Slayer". Super Soldier Serums were nothing new-after all, Jack and Gabriel were well known for having gone through a super soldier program. Titan-Slayer was supposed to create even stronger warriors with less subtlety. Yes, the hulking monstrosities that most people turned into when injected with the chemical was considered a feature, not a bug. However, Wholesale forgot to include any way of actually CONTROLLING the hulking monsters. Most subjects lost their minds. Dean didn't, as he clinged to the hope of his co-workers or his family finding and saving him. As his body grew in size and strength, a new hope emerged: Escaping and returning home.

Eventually, the mutants got out, as horrifically mutated test subjects with no mental abilities tend to do. Dean was able to escape as the Wholesale headquarters was brought down around his ears. He worried how his family would react as he made his way home, and soon realized, he didn't have to.

He showed up to find them dead. He came home to an empty house, a bunch of messages on the voicemail, and then went to the police. DNA proved he was who he said he was, even if he looked nothing like his old self. His boss informed him that his family had been killed in a terrorist attack. Had Dean not dived out the side of the building at that moment, his boss might be dead right now. As it stood, all that happened was the dumpster was torn to shreds.

See, the Titan-Slayer chemical is produced by the subject's own bone marrow, meaning it's tied to the subject's blood, whether he likes it or not. The chemical promotes the growth of muscle, as well as causing a constant supply of adrenaline, which can be "vented" by causing destruction (the company realized that a constant build-up of adrenaline would lead to short lived super mutants). The longer a subject goes without breaking something, the angrier they get until the subject goes completely insane and starts rampaging. A lot of condemned or abandoned buildings in Berlin no longer need to be demolished because of Dean and his need to break things. The chemical also stimulates cell growth and repair, causing wounds to heal incredibly quickly and allowing a Titan-Slayer to shrug off minor injuries.

Then Talon decided to show up in Germany one day. This was a very bad decision, as Dean was happy to demonstrate by showing up and ripping their operatives limb from limb. Their weapons struck true, but the Titan-Slayer chemical prevented Dean from going down and just made him angrier. The scene became a bloodbath of gore, just like Talon usually wanted...but it was their own operatives supplying the gore, which is what they didn't want.

Now, Dean has devoted himself to finding and destroying anything even remotely related to Talon. He blames Talon for the deaths of his family, whether or not this is true has yet to be seen. He is no fool, though: He knows he's no hero to the people, and his method of fighting Talon frightens them as much as Talon does.
Personality: Depends on how much the Titan-Slayer chemical is affecting him. When it's mostly under control, he's a very eloquent speaker, and while his dialogue is peppered with swears, he tries his best to smile no matter how bad the Titan-Slayer is getting. He has a deep disdain for corporations and most organized groups, believing that the mere concept of organizing leads inevitably to corruption. He believed this before the Titan-Slayer experiments, and only worked for the police because he felt that the constant public attention and the pursuit of justice slowed or potentially stopped such corruption. Even if he is to ally with Overwatch in some capacity, he will likely not ally with "Overwatch" itself but with specific people in the organization and always consider himself to be more "freelance".

As the Titan-Slayer builds up, he gets, well, angrier. His sentences get shorter, his word choice gets simpler, and he starts growling more than speaking. When he fully loses it, he loses the capacity to speak at all and instead just makes noises. He becomes a pure ball of destructive rage and will not calm down until many things-living or otherwise-are broken.

Weaponry: Dean's swiped a few weapons from Talon. They weren't using them, after he broke the man's spine. His preferred weapon is a large combat shotgun. His other preferred weapon is his FISTS! AHAHAHAHA! Ahem.
Strengths: Incredibly durable, very strong.
Weaknesses: Slow as molasses going uphill in January. Low range. Doesn't play well with others...
Ons/Offs: Tends to be rather asexual, as he's kinda still mourning his dead wife. With respect, can I skip this one?

Wholesale Pharmaceutical
Wholesale rose to prominence in 2026, using new manufacturing techniques to ship incredible quantities of common medicines to the world. With small manufacturing costs, they sold for cheap, and profits were big. Eventually, as they grew bigger, they began conducting research into cures for common problems that had remained "uncured". Things like Tinnitus and such. These research campaigns were announced, with a tagline of "let's build a better world by curing what hasn't been cured before".

The Titan-Slayer experiments were an offshoot of these programs that began in 2056. At first, it was only animal testing. Human abductions and experimentation (as no government would fund this shit) began in 2063. Dean was abducted in 2070. The massive mutant uprising occurred in 2073,
and Belgium (the company they were headquarted in) froze their company assets, effectively killing the company by 2074.

Wholesale's manufacturing techniques have been made mainstream, and without them around, pharmaceutical companies are scrambling to get as much of the pie as possible, including buying as many of their old factories and processing centers as possible. Why build up what you can buy out, right?

It's possible that Angela Ziegler knows about Wholesale and the Titan-Slayer experiments, as the truth about them came to light in the official investigation that led to the 2074 asset freeze. Symmetra DEFINITELY knows, as Wholesale probably had a deal with Vishkar to supply medicine to areas that Vishkar controlled, or at the very least, they had some talks going on. Similar corporate cultures (though dissimilar agendas) would lead to the two companies likely working together. Other canon or OC characters may know depending on their own interest in corporate scandals.

This stuff is first draft level, what do people think?

Zeke Duvalk take 1

Codename: Blob
Real Name: Zeke Duvalk
Age: 27
Nationality: American
Occupation: Wanderer, Odd Job taker, Smasher of Talon Skulls (self employed)
Base: N/A
Affiliation: N/A but may join Overwatch later
Relations: Alan and Diane Duvalk (Mom and Dad), Steven "FuckFace Mc'ShitHead" Duvalk (Brother)
Description: Large green gelatinous body. Two yellow eyes and a purple 'brain' at the end of a tentacle. X/X/X
Biography: Sadly until the 'Incident', Zeke's life had been uneventful. An average guy from an average town in average ass New Jersey. Well for the most part anyway. He used to be the scrawny kid. Always picked on, weak and paled in comparison to his quarterback star brother. Due to being the town's punch line, he always fantasied about finding ways to get back at them. Most of them involving chainsaws, flame throwers and reenacting old horror movies. However as he got older he more or less just accepted his place in the world and moved on with his miserable life. Luckily he managed a pretty decent gig as a night security guard for a chemicals facility. It was pretty awesome honestly. He got to just hang around, drink beer, play his video games and blast music over the speakers. It was boring ass Newmont, New Jersey. Nobody would want anything from this town. Or so he thought...
On the night of June 15, it was an average shift. Old hip hop playing through the speakers as Zeke spent his time playing the latest Dragon Fantasy Wars. He never even noticed the men in black armor carrying guns entering the facility. After finally noticing. He grabbed a pistol and made his way to try and figure out what was going on. Howevever he was grabbed by couple of the soldiers and was tossed into a large vat. As his body began to melt and disintegrate. The last thing he could hear were bombs being set off.

The resulting blast made the headlines as several nearby apartments and stores were destroyed in the blast. With a few casualties, the news began to blame it on then deceased Zeke Duvalk. As clean up began, a bizarre blob of jelly was stirring to life underneath some of the rubble. It began to slither around aimlessly and escaped into the forest. With an almost animal like instinct, it began to wander the woods while eating and absorbing whatever organic life it could. Within a few days, a bizarre glowing crystal began to form and soon a conscience and with it's first words "The Fuck Happened?! What the shit am I?!" Zeke was officially reborn.
After getting his footing, he began to investigate what had happened at the facility. He managed to find out that a group known as Talon had been the culprits.
"So these are the guys huh?" Years of abuse and tormenting had finally caused the newly formed slime to snap. "Guess I gotta find these shit snacks and make them into meat jelly!" With this in mind he began wandering the world trying to hunt down any traces of Talon. And the few times he had managed to find them... it ended in some pretty brutal, albeit somewhat comical, violent battles that would make someone queasy.

Despite his... violent temperament. He has started to show signs of compassion and the makings of a 'Hero'. Due to his past, he doesn't tolerate those who prey on the weak.
"Oh heavens look at the time... It's wreck-your-shit-o-clock!"
Strengths: Can take a lot of hits due to his slime body. With his shape shifting ability, he can adapt to almost any situation. Also his Assholeishness CHARM gives him a cool head.
Weaknesses: Constantly needs hydration especially after a battle. Extremely weak to extreme cold and heat. And if his gem brain is broken then he's dead for good.
Ons/Offs: Considers himself Bisexual. In his words "Dude i'm a fuckin' ball of goo. Can't really be picky." But after some 'encounters' in the past, he's learned how to put his abilities to good use.

Inerrant Lust

Premier: For some reason, I'm imagining the recall got sent out to your junker and Tracer/Winston are like, "Oh... oh no, we didn't, um, mean for that to go out to EVERYONE..." but they kind of have to take whatever help they can get.

Angie: I get the impression that the theme of Overwatch is that this beautiful world full of grandeur and hope and idealism is only possible when a concerted effort is made to preserve it. The Last Bastion seems to exemplify it- with the adorable murderbot making a conscious decision not to kill people. Everyone else in the world has to make a conscious decision to improve and maintain the world or else everything great about the world will wither away...

That's my take on it, at least.

As for Dean, does Wholesale have an umbrella for their logo? ;) In more serious settings, I always laughed at the idea of turning people into monsters to make them into weapons for war. There's... like, no chance that could get out and cause a huge PR scandal!

In any event, Dean seems like the kind of character Mercy could help...

I should note, while death and murder are not unusual in Overwatch, I feel like scenes of gore would be a bit against the spirit of the setting. Even in Soldier 76's short, in which at least one Los Muertos most definitely gets killed (by helix rockets), it isn't shown outright and every other goon struck by his bullets ends up hit bloodlessly in the shoulder or in the gun or something like that... granted, this is a game on E! There will be sex, most assuredly... but I feel like a lot of blood would be a bit contrary to the tone of the setting. It's fine for a backstory (Junkrat and Roadhog are murderers, after all...) but I request to keep all blood and gore 'off-camera' unless it's to be used for VERY poignant dramatic affect. :P

Asexuality is fine!

TotesRider: I'll always encourage players to have a backstory that drifts away from 'wrong place and wrong time' and towards actively being involved or responsible for the events that led to their transformation. It also gives me a little bit more to work with in terms of creating plot hooks.

For example, Tracer got all timey wimey wibble wobbled thanks to her being a test pilot. Gabe got reaped up presumably as a result of the injuries he sustained when Overwatch HQ blew up and Widowmaker was kidnapped and modified explicitly because she was married to the Overwatch agent investigating Talon.

But that's just my preference. I think it makes it easier to tie characters and plots together as well.

Strengths and weaknesses are interesting from a fluff perspective but they're a little... obtuse if we were trying to figure out how Dean would fare in a 1v1 fight against Talon operatives like say, Reaper or Widow or Sombra. That was the primary reason I wanted people to list their strength and weaknesses was so that we could avoid any confusion about the freeform combat that will inevitably occur. :P

Also ...I'm down for gooey smut!

Juggtacular

Would it be possible for one of our OC's to be related to or know a canon?

As Hanzo is 38 and Genji is 35, it would've been possible for their father to birth a third son at some point, but one to be kept away from his older brothers to keep him out of the strife their feud was causing or something like that.

If it's allowable of course. If not I'll come up with something else.

Guancyto

I mean, with all these super-soldiers and science experiments and murderbots and heavily-armed thugs around...

...I wonder if it would be fun or disruptive to play a completely normal human who gets swept up in superpowered antics.

Does the new Overwatch need support staff besides Athena? I feel like the OW equivalent of Miss Pauling is needed.

Inerrant Lust

Juggtacular: That might be possible, considering Hanzo appears to have renounced the Shimada clan if he has to sneak into their castle just to make offerings to his brother... Could be a third son was sired and then kept secret, or was maybe a bastard.

Makes sense. The elders of the Shimada felt like Genji was faffing about too much and so ordered Hanzo to deal with him. His younger son was apparently killed but this left Hanzo deeply remorseful. It looks like Hanzo was so distraught that he abandoned the Shimada... Which leaves the elders shit outta luck for heirs to his Yakuza empire. So maybe their father had an illegitimate son hanging around to legitimize or bring to light.

TvTropes lists Genji/Hanzo's fight as occurring in 2066, which appears to be about 10 years prior to the 'current day'... depending on how old you want the character.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Timeline/Overwatch

Actually, it looks like Genji dismantled the Shimada when he joined Overwatch... given that Hanzo doesn't recognize him in the Brothers short, it seems like he wasn't around for the dismantling.

Guan: Tracer is human! As is McCree and Hanzo and D.Va and Lucio and Sym and so on! :P Presumably a support staff is still required and I'm fine with 'non-combat' characters... It looks like Winston was more of a support team type guy when it was still a thing.

Juggtacular

And the baby brother could either be the force that brings the Shimada back into the black spotlight, or tries to rebuild them into something his brothers would be proud of after Hanzo left and Genji took them out.

Angie

I agree with as little gore as possible, and don't worry, I know how to use it to good effect. Heck, if you've ever seen Drive, you know the focus wasn't the gore, but rather the sheer fury of Ryan Gosling's character as he demolishes the assassin (although it does get bloody in other scenes, but you get the idea). Like, I'll do one really good scene where the focus is more on just how much of a different man Dean is these days and the gore will be there, and then after that it's like people don't even have blood.

I didn't even realize I was swiping most of Umbrella's story with Wholesale. At least this time I took the time to give them something they actually made-seriously, you barely find any proof that Umbrella actually makes shit besides giant monsters :P

Also, the sheet reflects him more at the start. He might eventually become more open to the idea of being smutty and sexy, but right now, he's still hurtin' pretty bad. As Mercy and other members of Overwatch help him, well, he'll evolve, of course.

Also, enjoy this adorable Overwatch animation:

Hm okay. What if Zeke was an Overwatch scientist? While working on a gel like substance, he mostly used his chemistry knowledge in the background. Never really going out into combat and never really getting much recognition and mostly helping other agent's with their own gadgets and such. At one point he manages to develop a device that envelopes the user in the gel to be used as armor in emergency situations (riot policing, etc etc). The initial tests went fine on some metal frames. However the human tests went a bit sour with a couple subjects getting seriously injured or burned.

I'm thinking he finally gets fed up and uses the device on himself. But a few miscalculations cause his body to permanently fuse with the gel like substance and over time his actual body dissolves. Essentially his selfish quest for glory and fame wound up turning him into a goo-man.

Angie

I can see right after the goo thing happens, this conversation:

Winston: "you're a dumbass."
Zeke: "but i am made of goo now!*bouncebounce*"
Winston: "what have we learned?"
Zeke: "to iron out the beta bugs before trying anything like this."

So my idea is an Omnic.  I don't really see what could go wrong.

Reactress

Codename:   Reactress
Real Name:  4CTR355
Age:               Predates the War with the Omnics by at least three years.
Nationality:  American (first place she was turned on)
Occupation:  Mercenary, Omnic Special Detachment (Former), Actor (Former)
Base:             As of yet, a  Prison Cell.
Affiliation:  Mercenary, Former Null Sector Terrorist
Relations:    Tracer (Grateful for being spared)
Description: A slim and relatively normal looking omnic in most circumstances, Reactress can add parts as well as use holodisguises to appear like just about anyone or any Omnic.

Strengths:      Excellent close range fighter with powerful concealed weapons, competent at other weaponry.  Disguise system is nearly perfect; can even stand up to touch.
Weaknesses:  Not excessively durable, disguise system flickers and fails against gunshots and more powerful attacks.  Disguise system is only as good as her knowledge of the target.

Ons/Offs:  For the right price, just about anything.  No torture or snuff.  She has too much self-preservation.

Biography:  The Unit designated 4CTR355 was an Omnic prototype designed to sell the concept of Omnics as more than just laborers and combat drones to rich investors.  Hollywood Directors, tired of actors and actresses who would demand large paychecks and often have trouble taking direction perfectly, were glad to foot the (suspiciously low) bill once they saw 4CTR355 in action.

Using advanced holotechnology to emulate human expression and form (and feel),  4CTR355 was always billed as an actor or actress that hadn't shown up before.  No one wanted to be caught having used an Omnic, especially without actually paying...it?  So, naturally, 4CTR355 was a dirty secret that had to be kept.

After the production was over, that 'person' would 'die' or 'go missing', no body would be found, and 4CTR355 would change to fill a new role.

This worked for about four movies.  Really, in general, the public might have kept enjoying the 'show' for ages, but an energetic young police investigator who had something against the director who was using 4CTR355 started digging.

It took a year for evidence to emerge, but it got out nonetheless.  4CTR355 was ambushed at a press conference and a fault in her programming was used against her to force her to unveil her true identity.  The leading actress in the latest box office smash hit went from instant fame to public enemy number one.   4CTR355 ended up being sold to the government for research.

The War with the Omnics started the next year and, to put it politely, she was a fervent supporter.

4CTR355 was liberated and joined the Omnic Special Detachment, using her technology to scout, infiltrate, and sabotage the efforts of humanity.  In the latter days of the fighting, she ended up having to join some of the more desperate defenses, but ultimately chose to escape rather than die fighting.  Naturally, she joined Null Sector when the chance came to get vengeance.

During the King's Row Uprising, she was nearly terminated by a pulse bomb.

At the behest of Tracer, she was counseled by a priest of the Iris.

(And I haven't made up the rest yet)

Angie: I was wondering myself if I should include a scene of bloody murder or something for dramatic effect. Maybe for a face reveal of Reaper, since who knows what he looks like under that mask... but even though, it doesn't seem necessary. Also, I think the mystery of Reaper's true appearance is more intriguing than the truth ever could be. So... *big shrug*

Oh! What I said to Totes is totally applicable to Dean too. One of the things that came to mind when you said Dean found out about his family being killed from his boss... made me think that maybe they aren't dead after all. Or that they were targeted. The other thing that came to mind was that perhaps he was abducted intentionally. If I were an evil pharmaceutical company, I'd kidnap some homeless people off the street rather than a Forensic scientist with wife and a kid, a boss and lots of people that presumably would go searching for him if he went missing. The idea that came to mind was that perhaps Dean was getting too close to Talon for their comfort so they had him dealt with.

The intelligent thing to do would be to just kill him but maybe they were trying to recreate their success with widowmaker's modifications or something, eh?

I'm a katsuwatch fan, myself. :P

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyyeYR492k4&t=79s

TotesRider: If you'd like. Don't feel obligated to listen to me, by the way! I was just suggesting my own thoughts, late at night, when I'm liable to just ramble on anyways. I can say that connects him more to the old cast of scientists like Mercy and Winston. An idea that comes to mind is that the procedure seems like something he could have ended up using when Overwatch's Swiss headquarters was destroyed, possibly as a last resort. The blast evidently left Jack scarred and Reaper in a really bad way. If Zeke was caught up in the worst of it, using the device could have been his only hope for survival. Heck, maybe he was right at ground zero trying to disable the bomb or something... I dunno, I'm just spitballing ideas, feel free to use or ignore them. I like the character and just feel compelled to offer my input. :P

TheFourthShade: Death to all humans! I feel like Talon would try to bail her out of jail for some nefarious purpose and Overwatch would offer her a suicide squad type pardon for her cooperation.... Pretty interesting idea, though. I guess the technology works like that droid from Force Unleashed that could project a hard light hologram over itself?

Codename: Kirin
Real Name: Yin Tsumori
Age: 20
Nationality: Japanese
Occupation: Mercenary
Base: Tokyo, Japan
Affiliation: Tsumori Augmentation(Former)
Relations: Dr.Tsumori(Father/Deceased)
Description: Standing at 5,5" Tsumori Is short but well toned and flexible. With a very off-putting appearance of Blue colored skin, and augmented eye's that give him a very inhuman appearance.
Biography: Yin Tsumori was the son of a robotics scientist and Neurological Doctor. Dr.Tsumori was the leading researcher in the augmentation of the human form, and was inspired into this field when his son was born with no vision. Yin received Omnic Augmented eye's to be able to see, and from there his father felt like he could bridge the gap between human and Omnic more with this research. Obviously; this drew the wrong attention and rubbed certain groups the wrong way.
In a direct Terrorist attack, Dr.Tsumori's son was in the middle of an explosion that cost him his human life. Stricken with Guilt; the Doctor set to bring back his son. Making new body parts, graphing synthetic skin, and doing everything he could to get his son's life back. But in Grief came hatred, for the Doctor did more than just rebuild his son, he made him into a weapon. He made giant Claw gauntlets, A Tesla activated machine, and incorporated the highly volatile prototype works of Neo-Energy. Red electric power that has been shown to have a lot of destructive force.
However, before he could flip the switch, the doctor was captured by agents of Talon, along with the finishings of his son. The Doctor refused to show them how to use his son as a weapon, and that cost him his life. However, in his last few moments of life; he activated his son. And upon seeing his dying father; went on a rampage in a Talon installation. Destroying so much that the place was rendered desolate. Since then, with no purpose, and no one to rely on, he went on his own. The only use he found for himself was to be what he was made to do...Be a weapon.
Strengths: Heavy Damage Dealer that can traverse terrain quickly.
Abilities
Neo-Energy Field/Charge
Kirin has a passive damaging field, whenever he is close to enemies, they will take damage over time from his field. Which along with his normal attacks of swiping and attacking with his gauntlets, will charge his Energy that makes his other abilities stronger and more damaging.
Fabric Tear
A Shotgun like blast that comes out from a slash of his gauntlets, sending three curves of energy outward in a cone. It takes 25% of his energy to do so, but the higher his energy level, the more damaging it becomes.
Dimensional Leap
The Ability to create portals across battlefields for himself. However, a Portal can be used only Twice. Meaning Kirin can jump through along with one other or he can jump back for a surprise attack and quick escape. The higher energy level he has, the longer the distance the portals can travel. Takes up 50% of his energy each time.
Revenger Ball
Kirin's ultimate ability that has three stages of use. Using 25% Energy allows him to fire a medium size ball of condensed Neo Energy at a target which causes a small AOE explosion and momentary Stun if directly hit. At stage Two, with 75% energy used a ball that is larger and takes up the size of the entire palm surface area of one gauntlet is fired, causing a bigger damage splash and a second longer stun that deals twice as much damage. Then; at 100% Energy level, Both Gauntlets are used to channel a massive Ball of Neo-Energy that is then launched on a destructive path, once it hits a flat surface area or hit's organic tissue it explodes in a massive area, dealing massive amounts of destruction and paralyzing foes caught in the blast for a moderate amount of time.
Weaknesses: Can't take on entire groups solo, Needs Support's when in long term fights, Long ranged Enemies.
Ons/Offs: MxF, Sub And Dom depending on Partner.

Angie

There is certainly the possibility that Talon is involved in a deeper level. I hate to shout CONSPIRACY! like I'm in Metal Gear Solid, but it's possible that Talon had its hooks in Dean's police department and his work was fingering Talon agents for crimes. So, they abduct him and hand him off to Wholesale, which probably has a partnership with Talon-live bodies for cold, hard cash. Unlike Widowmaker, no one really recognizes Dean, they had to use DNA to realize it was him (and even then, they had to use hair, thanks to the Titan-Slayer chemical blood is no help in identifying him). Also unlike Widowmaker, he's out to demolish Talon rather than being a total devoted slave to them.

That said...I think all this should be under "GM notes". If it does happen, I'd rather it be a surprise to as many people as possible and not give the secret away in Dean's sheet.

By the by, it's amazing Talon even still has agents, considering how many of us are blowing them up in our backstories...

As to the former, it would really depend on where the needs of the plot fall.  As to the latter, that's my best guess on the matter.

Codename: Firebug
Real Name: Brianna Burnage
Age: 24
Nationality: Australian
Occupation: Junker
Base: The Outback
Affiliation: Junkers(Testy at best), Overwatch(Brief Member)
Relations: Junkrat/Roadhog (Used to be friends, fucked me over good!), Reinhardt (Recruited me originally, a good lad)
Description: An impressive 6 foot tall, Brianna usually blames the outbacks radiation for how she's sprouted up over the years and kept real fit, it's not like she eats right after all. Her hairs naturally black but she dyes it a rust red these days.
Biography: She grew up in the outback as a kid scavving, scraping up whatever junk she could find and selling it on to anyone with the will and cash to buy it. Anyone welshing on the payment would soon find the girl had an affinity for a fire and that their stuff had mysteriously caught fire.  Sometimes she'd go out with a young junkrat still learning their explosive game and combine it with her affinity for flames to try blow and burn some of the tougher nuts open and sell on whatever wasn't a charred husk after they were done. They got along well enough, at least until they got older and Brianna got recruited.

Overwatch in their aim for World peace was doing outreach to the Junkers and Brianna was judged as one of the more stable individuals to approach, so Reinhardt did the honors during Mech-Bash 27 taking her on in her dodgy fire-rig and offering her a chance to make a suit that isn't a junker special. She couldn't really say no to that and firebug had an illustrious 1 year career in Overwatch before it quickly became apparent that she still had a soft spot for her old friends, though they didn't for her. She went easy on Junkrat and their new bodyguard when she caught them trying to steal tanks of Omnite from a federal reserve in Australia and in return they pretty much blew the whole facility sky high and left her with a disaster of an operation on her head. She was kicked out shortly after because her inclusion was threatening the Omnic peace accord and headed back to the Outback, where she found nobody had time for her anymore so she's living where she can, trying to do some good amongst all the bad and wandering from place to place as the Junkers drive her out or ask her to go, hoping to find anyone who'll have her now.

Then she got a call she was never expecting and well if Overwatch wanted her back, she needed a home. Couldn't fuck it up twice in a row right?

Strengths: Incredible area denial, quick bursts of rocket speed, overcharging her thermal lance gives her flames that'll cut through almost anything. Shields, Armour, Ice-walls, ANYTHING.
Weaknesses: Long reload time and immobilized while reloading, getting her to use up her firepower and getting her while she's low is the trick here.
Ons/Offs: Aw hell she'll try anything at least once!

Mercy can make people NOT BE DEAD.

Also Ana's bullets are advanced enough to not only CARRY at least the basic ingredients for both a heal and a harm drug, but also contain an IFF while still being small and light enough that an elderly (albeit rather in shape) woman can operate the rifle they fire out of without difficulty or loss of accuracy.

Honestly, thinking about how Ana's bullets/grenades have a functioning IFF system strains my disbelief more than Mercy making the dead not be dead.

Angie

The more you think about what the Overwatch crew can do, the more it hurts.

I think in Ana's case the IFF is probably implanted or worn by her teammates. We don't ever see her using it on innocent civilians, only in battle, so it's possible she passes out IFF chips before a mission along with grandma candy (frick yes).

A few things I didn't come up with because I was a bit busy getting ready to visit family.

I was trying to think of how to explain my thoughts about OCs but I couldn't think of a way until now. My only concern about them having ties to canonical characters would be if it detracts or significantly alters those pre-existing characters. Since the idea for a third Shimada brother is that he was kept in secret and allows for both existing characters to still do stuff, it's fine. It even enhances their plot, I think!

Though I think Talon might be more interested in this third brother than Overwatch would... :P

Also, Premier! The tvtropes timeline has Overwatch disbanding at about 2071, while this game takes place at 2076. Not sure how that factors into Firebug's brief stay with Overwatch but I thought I'd make a note of it.

Codename: N/A
Real Name: Albert Thompson
Age: 28
Nationality: New Zealand
Occupation: Police Officer, rank of Sergeant
Base: Wellington, New Zealand
Affiliation: New Zealand Police, temporarily assigned on to Interpol
Relations: Parents back home in NZ
Description: Slightly over average height for a caucasian male, extremely fit for his age, close cropped dark blonde hair and green/hazel eyes. Wears special police-issue 'display visor' and a stab-resistant vest. Armed with an electrically charged stun baton, and often carries a specialised shotgun for riot control.
Biography: From a very young age, Albert Thompson was enthralled by the mystique of Overwatch; New Zealand was not on the front lines of the First Omnic Crisis, despite the attacks in Australia, so most of his knowledge of that war was the glamourised tales of Overwatch's heroism, protecting the innocent from harm, both during and after the Crisis; he was understandably star-struck by it all, and from a young age was determined to join their illustrious ranks. He maintained a rigorous physical and mental regime all through his teenage years, and after leaving secondary school, joined the New Zealand Police to act as a jumping off point. Then came the downfall of Overwatch, the revelation of its' dirty secrets and the Petras Act. In but a few short days, Albert's dreams were turned to dust. But he did not let that dishearten him too much; he merely refocused his energies into policing, soon reaching the rank of Sergeant. And then on top of all that, the word came down that someone had sent the Overwatch Recall order, in violation of the Petras Act. Now, young Albert is assigned as a member of an international police taskforce, codenamed "Operation COUNTER-STRIKE", tasked with bringing the rogue agents into custody. The irony is not lost on him at all.

Off duty, Albert is known for being quite jovial and flippant, with a fondness for pub quizzes, and local craft brews. Surprisingly, is also multi-lingual (fluent in Danish, among others) and has a Philosophy degree from the University of Copenhagen.

Salutations. Just spotted this thread today, and would like to put my hat in, if there's still room and enough interest.

My idea is a androgynous tech-head omnic who uses gimmicky weapons and ammo.

Can do grapples like Widow. Has a 'sticky' bullet that adheres to anything that touches it before decaying (like Junkrat's trap, but can stick to walls like Zarya's ult)over 5 seconds; they can shoot several, but their decay starts from the moment they hit, whether it's a person or object. Has an EMP tag that they can hit people with and then set off any time within the next 3 seconds to disable certain types of abilities (a la Sombra's hacking). And they have a self-repair ability in which they fold up and looks enough like a trash can that it's easy to miss that they aren't one.

They mostly do their own thing doing what they think Overwatch agents would do, if there had been an Overwatch left to do it.

My personal head-cannon is that the explosion at the HQ was caused by devices a mole put in place and that Reyes' condition is partly a result of that interacting with the super-serum effects from when he was in the military with Morrison.

...

As for Junkrat and Roadhog being not included in the rest of the story, if you check out the images that were released on the AMomentInCrime site before it got hacked by Sombra, you can see that they've been to Dorado, Japan, and France, and we know they've been to London, too. Plus, the Dorado map still has the results of their theft all over, so it's likely that was their most recent hit in the official timeline.

There's also the idea that whatever 'treasure' Junkrat found, it might have something to do with the overreaching plot. I recall reading somewhere that it has something to do with the Australian Omnium (which was destroyed and caused the wasteland of the Australian outback) and also makes Junkrat a wanted man by the likes of Talon and whoever is behind the international conspiracy that appears at the center of Sombra's web...

And worse yet, that conspiracy is symbolized by an eye- like the Iris.

Family is important though, so like Genji, he has given his brother a pass and made sure the Shimada Clan leaves him alone. Even during his visits to the castle to honor their father every year.

Sojiro - Ichiro loved his father more than anyone can ever know. And despite the harsh training, he respected him fully and would've died for the old man if he'd asked. He mourned when he died, and took over the Shimada Clan according to his last wish.

Description: Ichiro stands at 6'2, and is very muscular, making him very tall and buff for a ninja; but he makes it work. When not in his armor, he tends to stand out as well as above the crowd, which is ironic considering his appearance and choice of dress. His natural snow white hair falls around his face into a messy pattern that he can't do anything to fix; that just seems to be the way it is.

He's also very handsome, but most people can't tell since he almost never removes the mask covering the lower half of his face. He has a scar over his right eye from his ascension duel with his father, and he wears it with pride. He dresses like a traditional shinobi and usually has on a mesh top underneath a sleeveless jacket, as well as matching pants and tabi. His eyes glow a vivid shade of red. Ichirio's spirit dragon tattoo is located on the entirety of his back, like a Yakuza piece.

Biography: Ichiro was the third son born to Sojiro Shimada, the Head of the infamous Shimada Clan. He was born in secret and hidden away as by that point Genji and Hanzo were already becoming issues for their father. He was just an infant when Hanzo was ordered to kill Genji, and for a long time, he had no idea he even had brothers.

Much less that one had been ordered to kill the other as he wasn't a right "fit" for their criminal family. Sojiro's reasoning for this was he knew in his heart that his youngest son, would be the once to truly succeed him. Genji was dead, and Hanzo eventually came to resent the Clan after he was forced to put him down. It would all fall on Ichiro's shoulders. So from as soon as he was able, he was trained. Day and night, night and day. Rigorous and downright abusive methods were used to train Ichiro to the pinnacle of his abilities as a Shimada Clan Shinobi, and one day, it's Head. Like his brothers, he was a prodigy and excelled in all areas of study. Swordplay, archery, Ninja Arts and more. When he was sixteen, he was told his training would be complete if he could do one thing. Beat his father in a duel, using his own Spirit Dragon.

The duel was long and fierce. Father and son fought for over an hour until Ichiro saw his opening and took it. He summoned his dragon, a massive, fiery red beast. He defeated his father and was told he would become head of the Shimada clan upon his death. Unfortunately, his death came far faster than anyone thought, and before he knew it, his father was dead. Several months after his fathers' death, and his own grieving period was over, Ichiro decided it was time to bring the Shimada back to the top of the Underworld.

His brother Genji had torn the Shimada to pieces while he was hidden away, but nothing that was unfixable. To jumpstart things, Ichiro personally went on several missions after setting up new contacts and business partners the world over. It didn't take long for people to see once again that the Shimada were a force in the world. One to be respected at the very least. So far, Ichiro hasn't shown much interest beyond bringing the Shimada Clan back into a golden age, and maybe one day meeting his brothers. But aside from that, there's not much on his plate.

Strengths: Ichiro is insanely fast due to his training, and like his brothers, he can cling to and scale walls with ease. He can deflect any projectile if his timing is right. His sword deals a lot of damage.
Weaknesses: His ranged attacks are lacking as he only uses shuriken and kunai. He's designed for hitting, not getting hit. He doesn't have any AoE attacks.
Ons/Offs:
On - Foreplay, Rough Sex, Dirty Talk, Dominance, Submissive Partner, Switch Partner, Oral, Anal, Vanilla, Public Sex, Risky Sex
Off - Vore, Gore, Watersports, Scat, Etc...

eternaldarkness

Actually, i changed my mind - i'm noticing a distinct lack of gun-toting badasses, so i believe i'm going to go for a super soldier in the same vein as Soldier 76 or McCree.

Inerrant Lust

Juggtacular: Minor note, but the Shimada 'incident' apparently occurred 10 years prior, and occurred immediately after their father died. It was apparently a plot by the elders of the clan and not necessarily their father himself.

I gotta ask about Ichiro's abilities, though... He's very... genji-ish. :P It's not too important, since this is freeform, but I think you've got a lot of room to play around with, considering he's a ninja yakuza. Shinobi 'magic' like decoys of hard light or fire/water/earth powers. I'm more of a fan of subterfuge stuff that would be more useful in an RP than in the game, personally. So I guess I'm just saying feel free to get a little creative.

eternaldarkness: I was just thinking that we don't have too many 'normies', although Albert and Ichiro are pretty normal.

Juggtacular

Hmmmmmmmmm. I do like the more "Ninpo" element. Let me look over some things. (Also Genji is cool as fuck)

Inerrant Lust

I mean, I always wanted people to be able to play canons if they wanted to. If you want to play Genji, just play Genji. That's my take on it. :P

I hadn't put much thought into where the Super Shimada Bros would fit in with what I have been brainstorming up. It seems like Genji is totally down to rejoin Overwatch, especially now that he isn't as conflicted and spiteful about his past and his cyborg body. 'Dragons' seems to imply that Genji is gearing up for whatever global conflict is brewing and wants Hanzo on his side for it. Hanzo seems amenable, but isn't quite there yet...

Stella Maris

Yeah, Genji is totally down to fight for the force of good and after his spiritual journey and acceptance of what happened and who and what he is, now, he wants his brother to benefit from the same acceptance of what happened between them. Hanzo, meanwhile, is still punishing himself for his brother's 'murder' and is likely going to take some time to process that not only did he not actually kill him, but that Genji is doing well and has forgiven him for his part in what he has become.

If you'd like help with some of the canon characters, I'm always up to play one or more on the side, just so you wouldn't be running an entire stable of the canon crew and can have someone else to bounce off of when it involves mostly them.

She doesn't even need to say anything, as soon as he hits "woman of...your..." she just gives him that look that all old ladies are capable of. You know the one. It's the "I'm about to be very disappointed in you. Please stop." look.

An alternative would be to give her the occasional Drill Sergeant Nasty moment.  Lol there Angie. Anyway I'm thinking of changing my concept. The more and more I think about it that concept is really rooted in Symmatra and what she does. Creating constructs using light and other such stuff. I think I might create someone who focuses on lasers or something.

Juggtacular

Hmmm. I might then, if it's okay, do Genji now and then bring Ichiro out later on, once things are already in motion. That way it'd be a big shocker to the groups already going back and forth that such an influential family, one that Genji himself personally broke down piece by piece, is suddenly back up and running as smoothly as ever.

I also totally do not mind people auditioning for canons. It's a lot less work for me and heck, maybe I can have some fun too and not feel like I'm just talking to myself in scenes involving those very fun characters.

I know I should have said something sooner but honestly I'm not exactly in favor of this idea. To me it feels kind of like going against the spirit of this game which was to create brand new characters for this game. Just my two cents. I'm not dropping out or anything just expressing my opinion.

Also sorry for the double post sort of.

Inerrant Lust

Well, the original cast is already really good. They cover a lot of angles, creatively, and still have a lot of room to have creative license with. For the most part, we're only given hints of their lives and personality. I think it allows a lot of creative room to work with.

At the same time, I realize people have a lot of ideas of their own. I want both to interact harmoniously- the 'old' and the 'new', the canon and the OC. I honestly don't want one or the other to overshadow... but as a GM, my inclination would be to let 'NPCs' take backstage to the players.

As for players playing canons, I imagined it would something secondary, and they would play them as if they were NPCs... That is, relatively sparingly compared to an OC. I mean, a certain plot or scene doesn't need to have 12+ players in it, no?

Sessha

I know what you meant by it. I was just wanting to really do something original with my character. Like I said I'm thinking of maybe something to do with lasers and such.

Like Torbjorn's mostly pacifistic brother.

Prosak

Lol, not exactly. Torbjorn is an engineer sure but My character is a scientist and engineer. My character would literally be one of the guys that sticks around at base, sometimes going on the field to work on things pertinent to the mission. Think of him like that guy who set's up this new device that can help with the mission, or whom can disarm a nuke, or focuses on repairing something alongside Torbjorn. Whilst hiding behind cover of coarse :P .

Ahhhhhh. Okaay, in the vein of the game, more like a Winston-type character who doesn't really fight. Primarily making things and figuring things out, cool.

Zeke Duvalk take 2

Codename: Blob
Real Name: Zeke Duvalk
Age: 27
Nationality: American
Occupation: Wanderer and now Vigilante
Base: N/A
Affiliation: Ex-Overwatch
Relations: Alan and Diane Duvalk (Mom and Dad), Steven "FuckFace Mc'ShitHead" Duvalk (Brother)
Description: Large green gelatinous body. Two yellow eyes and a purple 'brain' at the end of a tentacle. X/X/X
Biography: Ever wanted to achieve greatness? Zeke Duvalk did. And it kinda fucked him up. A gifted kid from the suburbs of New Jersey, Zeke excelled in most aspects of science. His main expertise however was chemistry. He spent many after school hours mixing and trying out different chemicals and liquids trying out... well whatever came to his mind. Despite his skill and knowledge, he was over looked by his religious parents who preferred sports over science and favored his older brother Steve who was on his way to getting a scholarship and possibly even the NFL. While he tried not to let it bother him, he was growing pretty agitated about being overlooked and almost violently resents his older brother.
During his senior year of highschool. He created a bizarre gel like substance. Blades had trouble cutting through it, heat couldn't evaporate it and it wouldn't freeze. He could imagine the uses of such a thing and began trying to find ways to use the 'DuvalGel'. After a successful test demo, he was given a scholarship to a prestigious academy where he gained a degree in chemistry. During his off time, he continued to perfect the DuvalGel and going through... pretty dangerous tests. One of which involved covering his hand in it and setting it one fire. Word of this Gel began to spread and soon landed in the ears of Overwatch who were looking for some new recruits. While he had no combat experience, he was brought in as a scientist. While he was ecstatic, he was dismayed to find out that he'd be doing more 'support' stuff for some of the bigger agents. Mostly using his chemistry knowledge to help out with Winston's gadgets as well as helping out Mercy. While he tried to be just content with helping, he wanted to be recognized and in the spotlight, causing him to work way into the night to tinker the DuvalGel. In his mind, he wanted to create something that could rival hardlight. Due to the lack of sleep, and add in the growing inferiority complex, he became irritable and was known to lash out at his colleagues and give snide remarks to pretty much everyone which wound up isolating him even more.
When the attack went down at Overwatch HQ, Zeke was caught in the middle while working. He managed to get some good use of the Gel, using it to shield others from bullet and to cover up boiling hot steam and so on. For once Zeke was feeling like he actually mattered. However the heroism got to his head as he covered himself in the gel to try and find a way to disarm the bomb. However by the time he got there, it was already too late as the bomb exploded. While the gel helped protect him, the blast had a bizarre effect and his body was permanently fused to the gel. Over time, his organic self dissolved and he became a sentient goo man. Afterwards, he went into hiding, wallowing in his failure and convinced that he'll always be a failure.

However one day he learned of a certain Gorilla's message to Overwatch agents to return to duty. He was hesitant, but something inside him kept egging him to give it another shot. To stop feeling sorry for himself and actually try to get shit done this time.
Strengths: His stretchy body allows Zeke the ability to swing extremely long punches and kicks. Also he has a bizarre ability to mix chemicals into his body for a variety of effects. To do this, he carries several vials of liquids to pour into his body to create Ice, Fire and Electricity based attacks.
Weaknesses: Despite the long range of his punches, he has trouble picking off snipers. Also if a long punch whiffs, it leave him open to a counter attack while the fist retracts.
Ons/Offs: Considers himself Bisexual. In his words "Dude i'm a fuckin' ball of goo. Can't really be picky." But after some 'encounters' in the past, he's learned how to put his abilities to good use.

Sessha

Alright so then I'm going to do a bit of a combination here.  While I like the idea of doing something with lasers I think I found a far better idea. I'm going to make character who's got a knight's motif to him. Even got a name all picked out for him and everything. Marcus Bishop will be his name. Well actually more like Sir Marcus Bishop, Knight of Crown.
Locked, cocked and ready to rock!

Prosak: That's fine. I don't imagine every character needs to be geared for a 6v6 FPS matchup, anyways. A lot of the powers we see Sym using in her comic are non-combat, like creating a bridge out of light and such. Winston identifies himself as a scientist rather than any kind of soldier or whatnot. :P

Oh, Juggtacular said pretty much the same thing. :P I mean, there are lots of characters in the setting that have special skills but they wouldn't translate well to the game. Sanjay is a corporate negotiator, Brigitte is a mean welder, Torbjorn's wife has a clown car vagina...

TotesRider: I dig it. Poor Zeke ended up blobbified both as a result of his hubris and the crazy circumstances surrounding Overwatch's explosive demise. Seems like he and Reaper might have a few things in common, though Gabriel was obviously just about as disturbed before his 'killer cloud phase' as he was before the incident.

Sessha: Sounds like he and Reinhardt would get along famously. The sword and the shield? Laser sword!? :D

As for my own ideas about the cast... and possible plot hooks to be used whenever. Basically, if no one is interested in these plots, I won't write 'em. Though... they may occur later on, one or two at a time. The opening of the game would definitely be 'getting the gang back together' rather than any of these.

Detroit Restoration Zone:
McCree has little desire to answer the recall, being a wanted man already. Tracer and Winston visit (awkwardly, what with him being a giant talking Gorilla in public) to try and convince him.

King's Row:
Zenyatta and Genji are visiting the site of Mondatta's death to offer their respects and try to ensure his legacy lives on, even in the most contentious area of human-omnic relations.

Ecopoint Oceania:
Mei is investigating volcanic activity in the Pacific. Unfortunately, with her being listed as MIA, she was never notified of Overwatch's recall and needs to be found. It's safe to assume she'd be thrilled to rejoin the organization.

Oasis:
Mercy is working with the Ministry of Biology to help make Oasis into a paradise.  Pharah and Helix are there providing security. Symmetra is there to help Vishkar get a slice of the pie... and Sombra is trying to make new friends while nominally working on behalf of Talon.

Lijiang Tower:
Jack and Ana are planning to break into Lucheng International on a lead about Talon being involved with its recent financial troubles. Seeing as how Soldier 76 and 'Shrike' are two wanted criminals... the company has hired Hanzo to deal with the problem, an assassin and mercenary eager to prove himself against two deadly foes.

Korea:
Early Warning radar detects the tell-tale sign of the return of the Titan Omnic. It is estimated to reach landfall in less than 24 hours and the news reports this all over the world. D.Va and the MEKA are assembled.

Siberia:
Junkrat and Roadhog have been hired to scrap some Omnics. Unfortunately, they are the wrong kind of Omnics... and Katya Volksaya might just get caught up in the mayhem.

Finland:
Torbjorn is looking for a home to put Bastion in where he can be properly taken care of, where he won't be mistaken as the menace he once was. Try as he might to keep him hidden, the blasted machine keeps wandering off! Meanwhile... Katya Volskaya's daughter is being smuggled to some place off the grid by her bodyguard Zarya.

Numbani:
Lucio is doing a concert in Numbani with Orisa and Efi in attendance. Unfortunately, the peaceful coexistence between omnics and humans in the city has made it into something of a target...

Denmark
Reinhardt has been getting a lot of attention, from saving a village from gangsters in Greenland to making the way to his old friend Torbjorn's home in Sweden for the holidays... Having left for adventures elsewhere, he's painted himself as quite a target for the likes of Reaper and Widowmaker.

If Dean's gonna be anywhere, he'll probably be close to Denmark-and be in the exact place to take on Talon. Considering that Dean's story involves him being active against Talon already, they may even consider him a secondary goal since as far as they know, the "Titan-Slayer" is not an official Overwatch member.

This has absolutely nothing to do with how I already kinda like Reinhardt.

I'm still somewhat on the fence about this, in case anyone's curious.

Dunno, just not sure what I can do with the current roster... as far as plots and interactions with eachother and canonical characters, if people so desire. I have a few ideas, but nothing I'm extraordinary confident about.

Sessha

I'm sure there is something that can be done to help with this concept. I mean for starters you got a wide array of characters. Though arguably the hardest to work with among them is Major's character. Unless someone wants to play with his character on the other side of the law itself.

As for ideas it might mean taking on a co-gm but I think you might be able to get the characters together eventually by bringing them together through various methods. Like an over-arching plot thread that links each one of the character incidents together themselves.
Locked, cocked and ready to rock!

Inerrant Lust

Major's character, I don't know if it would be too hard. I basically would just have to put him in the thick of any dramatic conflicts going on between Overwatch and Talon.

The issue may be that I was kind of interested in the existing cast and maybe a few OCs on the side. I think there's a lot of charm and untapped potential to the canons and while OCs can certainly strengthen those stories and plots, I wasn't expecting it to be more heavy on the OC side. That might be my fault for not properly explaining myself in the original post... For me, having a game of predominantly OCs just seems like it's drifting away from Overwatch and more towards a separate superhero kind of setting.

But that's sort of expected, isn't it? Overwatch is such a great setting because it inspired all these characters... so I dunno. *big shrug* I should have figured out what I wanted to do before posting this idea, maybe.. >_>

TotesRider

Hey it's cool man. Happens to me all the fuckin' time.

Zaer Darkwail

Yeah, OC's are awesome but even so they have some established elements on them....so people prefer to be creative and create their own cool chars with own stories (using their own creativity instead borrowing from established info given said char).

I myself would be inspired to play Soldier 76 (if speak canon) and for my OC I had thought to play someone from Finland (the Finland plot especially intriqued me and thought perfect OC of mine would come from my own home country :D). In concept wise; thought to play someone average from Finland who did not play part in Overwatch or in Omnic conflict (Omnic conflict did not reach Finland and being flanked by Denmark, Russia and german from south sort blocked the invasions). Finland had only handful smaller omnics which were owned by rich corporations and those were handled locally easily enough.

But by circumstances get involved with Bastion or with smuggled daugther with Zarya (or both get involved somehow :P).

Haitori Aoyama

Codename: White Death
Real Name: Haitori Aoyama
Age: 34
Nationality: American/Japanese
Occupation: Spec Ops Sniper (Formerly), SWAT Sniper
Base: Los Angeles, CA
Affiliation: US Marine corp, LAPD, hopefully Overwatch
Relations: None
Description: Short Brown hair, blue eyes, athletic/physically fit, stands about 6'
Biography: Originally born in Okinawa, Japan on the marine base between an american father and japanese mother. Lived in Japan until about 15 when father was transferred back to America, joined military halfway through his senior year in highschool upon early graduation. Served two tours of duty in foreign countries and was recruited as a sniper early on thanks to an inherent talent for gauging distance and conditions, along with an ability to think of the fly combined with nearly inhuman patience. After his time in the military, he opted out when it came time to re-enlist when he heard his father was in failing health and joined the LAPD to stay close to home. When his dad finally passed. He'd had to fight in the war against the Omnics and often worked with some of the OW members in a support role and came to understand how they operated.

He found in his father's records some scientific data he'd collected on the omnics and some designs for better weaponry to deal with the mecha. Though he lacked any way to make prototypes; his father had always meant to offer them to the Overwatch; having quietly supported them since their inception. The old man had never really bought into the whole "they're the bad guys" schtick that everyone was pushing after a colossal screw-up by OW due to no fault of their own. It'd been a surprise for Haitori because his father was always quiet about what he thought of what was going on and kept his designs hidden in a safe and didn't let anyone see them.

Feeling that it would be what his dad would've wanted, Haitori decided to apply to join.

Thanks to accomplishments and such; he was accepted into the organization and given more in-depth training on how to properly snipe omnics. He was given a more high-tech version of his anti-tank rifle that would fire powerful bolts of plasma instead of shells. The rifle was customized for him upon his request when he saw it, favoring a sleeker design over bulk and a slightly longer barrel to further concentrate the plasma charge to provide more piercing power.
Strengths: can accurately shoot at very long ranges and pierce armor, and hold his own in close range, and can take some punishment thanks to his light weight body armor. Can teleport short distances to paritally alleviate slow movement speed
Weaknesses: Doesn't move very fast due to heavy anti-tank sniper rifle, Requires time and position to make shots count, reloads rifle a bit slowly. Teleport ability is line-of-sight only and had to recharge.
Ons/Offs: MxF a bit vanilla but open-minded/ offs: normal stuff- gore, scat, watersports, etc

I don't know if it's good since I dont' play OW alot (no ps4 or online ability)_ but I've seen enough to understand how it works. So don't be too nasty please..

Well, you need check Overwatch wiki bit Snake to add some Overwatch fluff on that background :). Omnics (basically sentient robots) became big major threat in near past (around decade) ago. Overwatch was created as counter for that and other military threats but since omnics got defeated, Overwatch was accused for corruption and people turning sort against the heroes sort deal. So anti-tank rifle could be 'anti-omnic' rifle and Overwatch overall has high tech stuff/sci-fi feel (so your rifle can remain big and cumbersome but it should have fire power in comparison to a arttilery scale to even dent omnic units and perhaps your char was trained to counter bigger omnics by fring pin point accurate shots on their sensitive systems past their armor with your overpowered plasma rifle).

<Read Wiki> Yeah no go, on this connection; Wiki-ing anything is like trying to drive a humvee through a swamp yo. It lags really bad.

I know about the Omnics and all that from seeing a friend play through the game and showing me the story-line bits.

Honestly the teleport is based on the "blink" power from Dishonored :P

And that would make more sense but I sort of wanted to do a char that was "New" to Overwatch's roster, to RP gaining the super high tech weapons and all. He can already pinpoint shoot things and it wouldn't be much to learn to sniper control boxes and all.  I wanted to leave somethings to RP at least. But I can add it in if you'd think it'd help more.

Well, Overwatch may have best toys from the all. But overall tech in all militaries had been in rise and developed in concert (and several Overwatch members had given data or working developing new tech to some countries and militaries). So perhaps brush up bit more sci-fi stuff as gear/training wise would help merge him more to Overwatch universe ;). My own suggestion anyways but up to GM comment/decide. However perhaps most common threat are crime organizations and terrorist groups in military wise than omnics. But war with omnics should had got impact on his life (most likely on his father who worked in military after all). Some point Overwatch was seriously dreamed about to join in (become venerated hero/superstars). So many top military operatives waited to be enlisted until Overwatch group was shut down (and present their activities could considered illegal as they lack legal support atm).

Snake

I fixed it up a bit with that in mind, how is it?

Like his dad was a supporter of OW even when it collapsed and had some designs for weaponry and armor for them but never could share them.

Which wiki are you referring to? Hopefully not anything on wikia.

Gamepedia is a great resource for information about the game (more geared towards players), and the Overwatch site itself has all of the background information you could ever want; there are videos, comics, and references to other media that are useful for knowing the world of Overwatch.

Thanks Stella, But I'm on a public access at a library and with more people on, the more lag there is.

I've done the best I can T_T

Stella Maris

Ah, yeah, that would make things prohibitive.

It sucks, but it happens.

I figure I could learn as I went.

Stella Maris

Well, I'm pretty deep in the lore, so if you had any questions, I (and probably others) could help out.

I'm just workin gon how to best make my submission fit in is all.

I think some of the charm of Overwatch is that you can look at a character in 5 seconds and understand pretty much everything about them thematically. The actual minutia and detail of their life story and that kinda thing is hidden, either very shallow (like D.Va at the moment) or very deep (like Ana/Soldier's very detailed backstories)

As it is, though, I'm still super on the fence about running this or not. Snake knows that I've already got a lot on my plate as it is for KxMS. :P

Snake

Yeah that thing is a bit of it's own monster. But perhaps youcan still do this but let it sort of be slower paced or find a co-gm ;3
