I thought I would start a thread where anyone could post a quote or something they read that they wanted to share.

I have a collection!

Here's some...

Quotes
"To believe something is to be willing to betray it."
...""And what is it you think you have accomplished? If you seek to aid everyone that suffers in the galaxy, you will only weaken yourself … and weaken them. It is the internal struggles, when fought and won on their own, that yield the strongest rewards. You stole that struggle from them, cheapened it. If you care for others, then dispense with pity and sacrifice and recognize the value in letting them fight their own battles. And when they triumph, they will be even stronger for the victory."
"It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it."
"If you are to truly understand, then you will need the contrast, not adherence to a single ideal."
"When one relies on sight to perceive the world, it is like trying to stare at the galaxy through a crack in the door."
"Yes… It is all that is left unsaid upon which tragedies are built."

^From KOTOR 2, yes, they are Star Wars quotes, but they are very true.

Then....

"My dangerous lack of morals and ethics is offset by my healthy fear of the law."
"A well balanced Mind never accomplished anything!"

^No idea where they came from, but love 'em

And I remember being at my old friend's mom's funeral. I was really good friends with him growing up and I knew and just adored his mother who was in constant bad health, but she was just an amazing (and hilarious) woman. When he told me she died I got a pretty good dose of grief over that, and it was a shame how she went. When we were standing there, a friend who had come with me to play support for me (since I chose to let my friend have his family around and not me crowding near them) said to me: "Braioch....it's so sad how she died....all by herself like that.....he didn't even find her till morning...."

To which I replied with a snort, without thinking, and it has stuck with me since, "Honey, when we die, we always die alone."

Don't know if I had heard it somewhere and it just surfaced at that moment, but right then it stuck. Morbid, but true I imagine.
I'm also on Discord (like, all the time), so feel free to ask about that if you want

"If you want then start to laugh.
If you must then start to cry.
Be yourself. Don't hide. Just believe in destiny.

If you pay attention at every moment, you form a new relationship to time. In some magical way; by slowing down, you become more efficient, productive, and energetic, focusing without distraction directly on the task in front of you. Not only do you become immersed in the moment, you become that moment.

I read this once in a memorial for a person in E and I found it quite profound. It's actual very simple. I was amazed at how moving I found it.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

Source: Mary Frye, who was living in Baltimore at the time, wrote the poem in 1932. She had never written any poetry, but the plight of a young German Jewish woman, Margaret Schwarzkopf, who was staying with her and her husband, inspired the poem. She wrote it down on a brown paper shopping bag. Margaret Schwarzkopf had been concerned about her mother, who was ill in Germany, but she had been warned not to return home because of increasing anti-semitic unrest. When her mother died, the heartbroken young woman told Frye that she never had the chance to “stand by my mother’s grave and shed a tear”. Frye found herself composing a piece of verse on a brown paper shopping bag. Later she said that the words “just came to her” and expressed what she felt about life and death.

The idea hovered and shivered delicately, like a soap bubble, and she dared not even look at it directly in case it burst.

Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones, as the wind blows out the candle and blows up the bonfire.

Event Horizon

"The Disneyland imaginary is neither true nor false; it is a deterrence machine set up in order to rejuvenate in reverse the fiction of the real. Whence the debility, the infantile degeneration of this imaginary. It is meant to be an infantile world, in order to make us believe that the adults are elsewhere, in the "real" world, and to conceal the fact that real childishness is everywhere, particularly amongst those adults who go there to act the child in order to foster illusions as to their real childishness".

- Jean Baudrillard.

The Paradoxical Commandments

by Dr. Kent M. Keith

1    People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
    Love them anyway.
2   If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
    Do good anyway.
3   If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.
    Succeed anyway.
4    The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
    Do good anyway.
5    Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
    Be honest and frank anyway.
6    The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
    Think big anyway.
7    People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
8    What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
    Build anyway.
9    People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
    Help people anyway.
10    Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

"Happiness is a gift we give to ourselves…"
I went looking for something that spoke to this philosophy...and found it! It's long..but I wanted to share..
There are many things in my life that have not gone as I thought they would..and I could be a very bitter person..but I choose 'happiness' ..as often as I can..It is not an easy thing to focus on the postitive. Each day, I make the effort to see the glass half full..and not half empty..
ENJOY!
