Not really a question, but I thought I may as well put something up.

Ok, so about 30000+ people are going to lose their internet service on Monday, thanks to this:

Basically there was a string of Malware attacks that went out, and made it so people's computers would look up IP addresses incorrectly.

The government/FBI shut down this Malware ring, the people who were controlling it, and set up a safety net for those infected, so that they would continue to have internet service safely.

However, this measure has turned too costly, and they will be shutting down this safety net on Monday. The Article above includes a link so that you can check to see if you are infected by this malware, as well as what to do if you are.

If you want a more direct link, its: http://www.dcwg.org/ , which is a website that has been setup by the government/FBI to help those infected or to find out if you are infected.

It's more than just 'looking up addresses incorrectly'.  The malware infection would have enabled the ring to use the computers that were infected as 'drones', possibly for DDOS attacks or other illegal activity, such as the distribution of more malware (like using hacked email accounts to send out virus links).

This is a legit site, and a legit problem.

I'd hate to see someone on E who lost their internet simply because they didn't know they were infected. o3o
