Harry Potter Roleplay Set in Russia During Reign of Stalin

I really should not be doing this, but so many of you guys seem to love Harry Potter so I will, may well regret this, but I think could handle it, a Co-GM be awesome, here's the details:

Here is the premise which may or not intrigue you all. It's in HP universe but far before the actions of Voldemort it concerns a Wizarding School in Russia that was taken over by the Soviet Union as Stalin fear Wizarding world and instead figured he could make them into loyal Communist. The roleplay would centre around the short lived experiment where wizarding world of Russia after surviving the purges had to experience pain, humilation, torture and paranoia, soldiers within the school, their own classmates perhaps willing to report them if sensed they were questioning the cause, thus why many are silent and many roll over rather than face punishment.

Interesting prospect, and the shift means that you can easily have 18+ characters.  As part of a weird question, though, wouldn't having magic make things very easy to handle a dictator?  Or would there be some sort of magical resistance?

Stalin was known for his paranoia so he has made sure to educate himself on this and learn to understand it, he may well have powerful magic users in his military up high.

What if you do support the cause and are a witch that accepts Communism and what is going on, after all serving the state as a powerful witch would have benefits?

I suspect outside magical governments would have issues after all Russia is scary, add in magic they could be terrible as a force against any country.

Then you are pretty much loyal to Stalin and accept the purges.

Of traitors to the State, not an issue at all. If you or a relative did nothing wrong why were you Purged? She serves the State not Stalin if he is usurped she will be loyal to the new regime. And likely oppose going back to the old ways.

There are benefits like State approved use of the Unforgiveable Curses for special operatives.

Essentially,  Stalin paranoia made him nervous of magic in general.  He decided to force obedience via fear. And yes those higher up in the regime can use unforgivable curses.

Likely a program success story for the Regime. What time is this set in pre-WW2, WW2 or Cold War? I have no issues blasting German elite with horrific magic.

After the Stalinist purges which I think was after WW2. The location where the school is Magnitorsk probably spelling that wrong, sorry. But yes glad you are interested. As for magical creatures, unlike Hitler Stalin was not so much about racial purity so he would probably use them anyway he could.

Note the reason HP never mentions said school it was burned down and forgotten from history because of what a strike Stalin ego it was.

Well my character will be advising her superiors to move advanced education to KGB hidden campuses since if the rest of the magical world finds out they will strike at some point, magical folk are to important to risk to the future of the State.

Appearance and Description:


Personality: Is actually quite pleasant normally unless you prove to be an enemy of the state or a threat then her talons come out, she is a Dark Witch and has no issues using her array of curses to full effect. Is a niece to a prominent Party member and enjoys the benefits but also has much to prove as a Witch under the New Order, being a proponent of the enlightened Communist government system. She is a lesbian and hides it well until she gets enough power to not be threatened if found out. Is rather open minded not having a bias to other magical folks, intelligent magical creatures or blood status finding such against the ideals of the equality of the socialist state.

Loyalty: The State

History: A half-blood she was found out at twelve and sent to the national magical school, the niece of a major Party official in good with the powers-that-be she is among the elite, joining the Party at eighteen. The school take over was not unwelcomed in fact she sided with the State having been brought in by the government earlier and prepared a List for the State. She also joined the school purge and purge of the magical government selecting Squibs to be shock troops. It was her wand that felled more than one Professor including her father and she sent her mother to mental hospital after extended use of some dark spells. Her young sister is at an orphanage being raised by the State in case she can use magic. This solidified her status and she is a Rising Star brilliant in magic, loyal to the State, a student of Communist ideology and ruthless if doing her duty she is a force to be feared and admired.

Goals: Promote as a loyal citizen and member of the Communist Party the advancement of the new enlightened society among the Wizarding Community and Muggle Worlds. If some of the old order must be ,dealt with, its necessary unfortunately to use strong means at times.
