Who else does Fantasy Football?

I'm having a lot of fun with it this year.  I even got Josi and my mom into one of my leagues.  I thought it would be cool to give folks a chance to share their teams and how they're doing in their own leagues this year now that we're going into week 9.

Here's my team for League 1 set for week 9.

Record: 5-3 (4th Place in a 12 Manager League, coming off a loss in week 8)

QB: Matt Ryan (ATL)
WR: Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG)
WR: Allen Hurns (JAX)
RB: Mark Ingram (NO)
RB: Doug Martin (TB)
TE: Vernon Davis (DEN)
W/T: Stevie Johnson (SD)
K: Blair Walsh (MIN)
DEF: SanDiego

BN: WR - James Jones (GB)
BN: QB - Russell Wilson (SEA)
BN: RB - Chris Johnson (ARI)
BN: K - Steven Hauschka (SEA)
BN: DEF - Seattle

I just picked up Stevie Johnson to replace Steve Smith Sr., who I had to drop because of his season ending IR.  I picked up Walsh for one week to fill in for Hauschka, who's my main kicker on a bye this week.  Vernon Davis catching passes from Peyton Manning sounds intriguing enough to take a chance on picking him up as my primary tight end, a spot that's been a real weakness of this team all season.

Here's my team in the 8 manager league that Josi, my mom and a smattering of friends and acquaintances are in.

Record: 8-0 (1st Place in an 8 Manager League)

QB: Aaron Rodgers (GB)
WR: Antonio Brown (PIT)
WR: Julio Jones (ATL)
WR: Amari Cooper (OAK)
RB: Todd Gurley (SL)
RB: Devonta Freeman (ATL)
TE: Gary Barnidge (CLE)
W/R/T: Lamar Miller (MIA)
K: Blair Walsh (MIN)
DEF: Buffalo

BN: TE - Antonio Gates (SD)
BN: WR - Travis Benjamin (CLE)
BN: RB - DeAngelo Williams (PIT)
BN: K - Steven Hauschka (SEA)
BN: DEF - Seattle

I'm actually a little embarrassed about this team.  I know it's just 8 managers in the league, but how I managed to walk away with Aaron Rodgers as my QB, the two best wideouts in the draft (Brown and Jones) and the two best running backs this season (Gurley and Freeman), leaving me to wonder whether to play Lamar Miller or DeAngelo Williams... Travis Benjamin or Amari Cooper.  Just wow.  I don't even have TE as a weakness when I have both Barnidge and Gates, both of whom I managed to pick up off waivers.  I'm not one to pat myself on the back, I'm really not... but man, the team I have mostly lucked into building is just not fair.  It's not like the managers other than my mom and Josi are new to fantasy either.  I've just managed to stay on top of the up and comers and snagged good players off the waiver wire (though what Julio Jones was doing at number 7 in the 3rd round I have no idea).

I'd love to see everyone's teams!

I finally lost in the second league.  10-1.

I was projected for 135 points. I got 83.  Sadly my opponent got 84.  >.<

Freeman's injury that week -really- hurt me.

There is not.

University of Texas might come around in a couple years.  College can change drastically from year to year.

Lady Sakura

I think I shot myself in the foot this week. Will get my current team now. This is my very first time doing FF. So I'm so inexperienced since all I did was follow the Patriots.

Damn you James Jones for dropping every pass and getting me shit points...

I'm currently 5-6 in my league so not bad for a newb...sigh.

Lady Sakura

For Week 12

My current line up for ESPN (projected to get 134 fp)

D. Carr (QB Raiders)
D. McFadden (RB Cowboys)
T.Rawls (RB Seahawks)
L. Fitzgerald (WR Cardinals)
J. Maclin (WR Chiefs)
G. Olsen (TE Panthers)
D. Amendola (WR Patriots) (Subject to change due to injury)
R. Cobb (WR Packers)
Falcons (D/ST) (Subject to change depending on the match ups and availability)

Bench

T. Ginn Jr (WR Panthers)
J.Jones (WR Packers)
L. Blount (RB Patriots)
T. Taylor (QB Bills)
J. Hill (RB Bengals)
J. Nelson (WR Cardinals)
Bills (D/St)

IR: Deion Lewis and Jamaal Charles...sigh

Call me weird, but I'll be really happy even if Carolina goes 15-1, as long as they lose one.  I don't want anyone breaking the Dolphins' perfect season.

I picked up Ben Roethlisberger a couple weeks back but I'm starting Aaron Rodgers this week so I have a reason to watch tonight's game.  We'll see If that bites me in the rear in the end.

Rogers isn't doing what he is suppose to!

Cobbs is not getting any receptions! WTF! I need to win this game to get into the playoffs...wah.

And I want to dolphins to suck it! so if I need to route for the Panthers if the Patriots don't make it I will!! However, we were totally cheated out of that win sunday night. I mean really...if you see the cover of the SI magazine you could clearly see a choke hold on Easley that was NEVER called!

I'm not a current Dolphins fan, but I have mad respect for the 70s and 80s eras of the team.  Marino was awesome back in the day.

Apologies though... I have no sympathy for a 10-1 team when mine is 6-5.   :P

Minty you're my hero! Yay...yeah the Ravens are not good this year. Wish I picked up the panthers defense...I have the Bills

Mintprincess

I have the Jets right now.  I should have kept Carolina.  Defense I'd kinda a week to week things.

And wtf Lacy again right?

Lady Sakura

Same here with Defense; last week I took the Bills and they got me -3 points. Previously I picked up the Falcons and they held at 10 points. I'm wondering if I should pick up the Patriots Defense since their match up with the Eagles is suppose to be really good. With Sanchez as their QB I mean that's a lot of INTs. haha.

Lacy has been off and on lately, hasn't he?

My RB status is not really that great. I have McFadden and I picked up Rawls.

Crossing my fingers; if I win and this other guy loses I'm in the Playoffs!

I'm in a 6-team league--yeah, yeah, I know--but we've been doing this since 2006 and I've never, ever won.  But!  This year will be my year!  I have the #1 team going into the playoffs with a record of 10-3, and I expect my first-round opponent to be a cakewalk.

My team:

QB: Carson Palmer (ARI)
RB: Adrian Peterson (MIN)
RB: Thomas Rawls (SEA)
Flex: Charcandrick West (KC)
WR: Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG)
WR: Larry Fitzgerald (ARI)
TE: Gary Barnidge (CLE)
K: Graham Gano (CAR)
D/ST: New York Giants

BN: QB - Aaron Rodgers (GB)
BN: RB - Demarco Murray (PHI)
BN: RB - Latavius Murray (OAK)
BN: RB - Darren McFadden (DAL)
BN: WR - Mike Evans (TB)
BN: WR - Brandin Cooks (NO)
BN: TE - Antonio Gates (SD)
BN: D/ST - Arizona Cardinals

Even though I'm fairly confident about my chances (let's face it, if you're benching Aaron Rodgers, you're doing well at QB), what's really sad is that my 6-team league team is not as good as Lunar's 8-team league team.  Jesus fucking Christ, Lunar,  how the fuck did you end up with that all-star squad?  Are you playing against a bunch of people who don't know anything about football?  When you've got Todd Gurley and Devonte Freeman on your bench you've pretty much got your league locked up.

The one disappointment I have in my team is Demarco Murray.  I had him on my team last year when he was on the Cowboys, and I think he was the #1 running back in the league.  Now that he's with the Eagles, it seems he has to struggle for touches.  And it doesn't help that Darren Sproles put on a monster game last week against the Pats.

Remiel you just became super sexy to me right now :D That is an awesome line up you got there. I wasn't prepared for my first time so I did crap when I started. However, I did manage it well but then Charles and Deion Lewis went down and then I started losing like crazy.

Yeah, that is why, in a 10- or a 12-team league, you wanna make sure you have the backup for your starting RB  (e.g. Jamaal Charles / Charcandrick West, Dion Lewis / Lagarrette Blount, etc.)  in case they get injured.  West was a bit of a surprise though, I totally expected Charles' replacement to be Knile Davis.

Lady Sakura

#51
I have Blount, I tried to grab West but he was taken. I managed to get Deion well before he was good. I did a lot of reading once I started. Woke up read up on Fantasy stats and looked at possible matches up and sleepers. Lewis I replace Charles with when he went down. Then I picked up Rawls after someone dropped him and I was like Ha! Steal. I did more reading on Football than I did anything else.

LunarSage

Haha, well Aaron Rodgers was my 1st round pick at number 7 of 8.

This was the first round:

1. Marshawn Lynch
2. Adrian Peterson
3. Andrew Luck
4. Rob Gronkowski
5. (Josietta's pick) LeVeon Bell
6. (My mom's pick) Jimmy Graham
7. (My pick) Aaron Rodgers
8. Jamaal Charles

Second Round:

1. Eddie Lacy
2. (My pick) Antonio Brown
3. (My mom's pick) DeMarco Murray
4. (Josietta's) Russell Wilson
5. Dez Bryant
6. C.J. Anderson
7. Demaryius Thomas
8. Odell Beckham Jr.

Then in the third round at number 7, Julio Jones was still there!  I couldn't believe it...

A lot of my great players that weren't expected to be great before the season started I picked up on waivers because I pay really close attention to who's been great week to week.  I watch NFL Network every day, go to Bleacherreport.com and nfl.com and make sure I know what's up with all the teams.

  ▫  A.A  ▫  O.O  ▫  Find & Seek   ▫

Remiel

Yeah, I don't think Davonte Freeman was even in most people's top 50 draft lists, and he ended up being the #1 RB for most of the season.

My team, if you can call it that, is the Denver Broncos.  I'd briefly considered drafting an all-Denver team (Peyton Manning, CJ Anderson, Demaryius Thomas, et al)  but I'm glad I didn't.  Except for the Denver defense.  I wish I'd grabbed that.

Lady Sakura

I grabbed the Bills they were ranked #3 Defense. I should have picked up the Broncos too..even though I hate them. I'm totally rooting for Steelers and Bengals when they face off. But Denver has a scary Defense, I agree with that. I probably should have picked up Panthers too.

Remiel

Yeah, I drafted the Bills as my primary D/ST too...but I quickly dumped them for the Cardinals when it became obvious Arizona would be a playoff contender.  In fact, all three of my Arizona players (Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona D/ST) were waiver wire pickups, and they haven't let me down.

At this point, I have no idea who the Super Bowl matchup will be.  Prior to the starting of the season, I would have said Packers and Patriots, but now, I have no idea.  Where the fuck did Carolina come from?  Why are they so good?

For awhile I had lost a lot of faith in my Seahawks this year, but after consistently lights out QB play from Russell Wilson and the defense finally starting to regain it's form in the last three weeks, I don't think there's a team in the nfl that they wouldn't have at least an even chance against.  They just need to get into the playoffs, which I think they will as a wildcard at 10-6 or 11-5.

Also, Rawls is freaking amazing.  Only 6 starts and he's on pace to get over 1,000 yards anyway.

Still in my league's championship (weeks 16 and 17 are cumulative), but it's not looking good.   I could have had a lot more points if I had decided to run the Arizona D/ST instead of Pittsburg.  Argh.  Somehow, I didn't think Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay would fall apart so badly. X(

If we can fry some fish we get home field! Just need to hope we can get jump on them early in first half.

Home field is within reach unless the Chargers don't suck and can beat the Broncos.

LunarSage

Well, the Rams play my Hawks tougher than any other team.  I don't know what it is.

The Hawks will definitely (regardless of the result of week 17) play either the Redskins, Packers or Vikings in the first round of the playoffs.  I like their chances against any of them, to be honest.  There's only one team in the entire NFL that I'm not entirely confident we could beat, and that's the Cardinals.  I'm actually amazed that Carson Palmer has managed to stay healthy all season, as injury prone as he's always been.

I lost one league because Russell Wilson and Seattle's defense tanked that week and won the other one by .76 points.  I had Roethlisberger and Brown, who nearly lost me the championship.

Oh I am so pissed.  A day after the site had already crowned me the league champion, they changed me to the loser thanks to a last minute "stat correction".  DeAngelo Williams lost a fumble that that wasn't factored in before the correction, so my .76 point win became a loss thanks to the -2 points.  >.<

It's not that I lost... it's that I was told that I had won before only to have it taken from me.  *sighs*

Seriously! To Tannehill for crying out loud. We made him look like Russel Wilson! Like seriously how can you lose to a team that lost to Jacksonville? I mean I feel like they just threw that game away to make the Dolphins feel better. Our Oline was non-existent. We can seriously use the bye week for sure. Can not blame injuries on that level of play yesterday.

We should have had that locked in the bag with the Jets...I swear something is wrong with McDaniels and BB cause they were playing like soooo conservatively! Why when you have a tank like Gronk! Can't wait for Slotty Pipin (Eldeman) to come back. Brady needs his Minitron!

Pittsburgh Steelers (Lunar) at Cincinnati Bengals (Remiel)
Kansas City Chiefs (Sakura) at Houston Texans (Mint)

Seattle Seahawks (Lunar) at Minnesota Vikings (Remiel)

That maybe so, however, for this weekend I don't see Green bay losing to the Red Skins. Nor do I see KC losing to Texans either.

Beguile's Mistress

The Steeler players hung on to their tempers while it was a couple of our coaches who had issues.  Cincinnati's coaches remained cool under pressure but let the players have nearly free reign over their emotions.  I think panic ensued for the Bengal players and caused two penalties that cost them the game.  Cincinnati snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and Saturday's game will always be remembered for that and not the hard fought game played for 58 minutes in the driving rain on an Ohio gridiron.

But I've liked Peyton ever since his Colts days, and I would like to see him go out with a Superbowl ring, just like Elway did.

Although, I will say...if Denver manages to win, it will be by virtue of the defense.  This will basically be a test of Cam Newton and Carolina's high-octane offense vs. Denver's world-class secondary.

Why all the Manning hate? :O
I've always loved him

I like that Cammie gives all his TD footballs to the little fans.

Love that too! The panthers are awesome about that in general.

My local cable company is having a dispute with our CBS affiliate that is trying to use the Super Bowl as leverage to get much higher carrier fees out of the cable company and recently pulled their channel from our cable. Just got an e-mail from the cable companying telling me that the Super Bowl will be available on a free preview of ESPN Deportes with English audio available on a couple of local radio stations. Or I can stream it on my computer. Screw it, I'm just gonna watch the Puppy Bowl! LOL

3 More Days til SB50!

I can't wait.

Is anyone throwing a SB party? I can't cause I don't have any friends in his new state.

Last year I made. Jalapeno Sliders, Buffalo Chicken Dip, home made pizza.

Mintprincess

We are going over to a friend's for crawfish boilin' and superbowl fun!

Beguile's Mistress

I'll probably stay home but have some neighbors over and make some chili, homemade corn bread and one or two other things.  Everyone else will bring food and drinks.  While they are watching the game I'll surf E. ;D  At least there will be a party. ;D

Congratulations, Denver Broncos!!!

I knew it would come down to Cam Newton vs. the Denver defense, and it did.   Von Miller's stripping the ball from Newton not just once, but twice was truly a thing of beauty.

Mintprincess

Congratulations Remy!!!! Well deserved!  Denver's defense played superb!  I'm happy for you <332

Deamonbane

Newton and his O were completely outmatched. Not helped by the fact that Manning was lost in the field made this Superbowl the most boring game of the season. I'm all for a solid defensive game, but when there isn't a decent offense to go with it, make things interesting, it was just punt punt punt punt fumble, interception, field goal, punt punt punt...

It's that time of year! Woot Woot. Were we planning on doing something fun this year like last year? Or just talking about our teams and such?

That sounds like a fab idea. Do you think we'll get enough players to make it worth it?

I'd be in.

Awesome. How are you feeling about the qb situation with the broncos. Looks like you'll need the defense to carry them again lol

Mintprincess

How many people do we need to have an effective league?

Yeah, we're not going to be winning the Superbowl again this year.
