Character Sheets
Hotel O'Lantern

Decades ago, a powerful organization called The OROCHI was founded by eight criminals from various walks of life.  On its surface, the organization was known to the general public as a normal research and development group that's backed by several major investors.  The group has also been known for their hostile takeover of many businesses in different industries such as Real Estate, Oil, Restaurants, Hotels, Cosmetics, etc.  Each of the major companies under this organization are headed by either one of the founders or one of the founders' children.  The truth of the matter is that the entire organization is an illegal empire consisting of human trafficking, arms dealing, wet-work, and illegal and highly unethical human experimentation.  Hidden from the outside world, OROCHI is at the forefront of technology when it comes to human modification and mental manipulation.

Though the eight heads worked together and got along well enough in the beginning, personal grievances began to surface over the years.  They all agreed, however, that OROCHI must be passed on to the most capable hands.  The question then became: Who was most worthy?  One day, the eight heads of the organization got together and devised a method in which only one of their descendents may take control of the entire organization.  The direct descendents of the eight founders will compete against each other in a high stakes tournament in which the winner becomes the sole head of OROCHI and owner of all of its assets.  Under the premise that one of the qualities that the worthy heir must possess is the ability to seek out talent, each heir was given one month to seek out "employees" to help them win.  They were allowed to use pretty much any method to employ these people whether it be money, blackmail, or outright deception.

Roles
Available Roles:

The Heirs and Heiresses ("Employers") - A direct descendent of one of the company's eight founders.  They do not have to be biologically related to a founder, but they must have some legitimate claim to the inheritance (i.e., being adopted is fine as long as the paperwork is legit).  The founder may be from either side of the family.  You do not have to play as someone who's well-off, either.  A disowned or similarly estranged member of the family who lacks the resources to employ or blackmail may instead rely on friends and family to help them out.

The Players ("Employees") - The ones sought out and employed by the heirs and heiresses to take part in the game in their place.  Anyone is allowed to be a player so long as they have the permission of an heir or heiress to represent them in the game.  By anyone, that includes the heirs and heiresses themselves.  Multiple players may represent the same heir / heiress.

The Spectators - Anyone with the connections, wealth, and/or power to gain entry as an audience to the tournament.  Many of them are there for different reasons whether it's to find out who the next heir will be, to scout out potential talent amongst the players, or for simple entertainment.  Most of them, however, are there to place bets on the winners and losers of each high stakes game.  There's also the possibility for a Player to become so far gone that they end up getting auctioned off as sex slaves.

Possible Roles:

The Dealer - The person in charge of overseeing the game and ensuring that all rules are being followed.  Some of them have also been responsible for devising many of these games.

How the Games work
By Semi-Freeform, I mean that you do not have to fill out an extensive character sheet filled with numbers and such.  Most role-playing will be done free-form.  The dice-roller, however, will be used a lot during the competition portions of the game.

For the first major portion of the game, each heir and heiress will be given ten poker chips with their names on them.  They will bet these chips in a series of games of their choosing, but they must gather a total of twenty poker chips in order to go on to the next round.  If they lose all of their chips, they get auctioned off as a sex slaves.  If an Employer loses all of their chips, all of their assets get divided and given to those who own the chips with that person's name.  For example, if Barbara loses all the chips with her name on it, but still has one Barney chip left, she's still in the game.  If she loses that Barney chip too, she gets auctioned off.  If she gets auctioned off and Barney has three Barbara chips, Barney gets 30% of Barbara's assets.  Barbara's assets include the profits obtained from her being auctioned off.

A poker chip can be used for one of two things:

1) If an heir or heiress loses a poker chip with his/her name on it to an opponent, that opponent may use the chip to make a single modification to the loser's mind or body.  Examples of modifications include instilling fetishes, changing the size/shape of certain body parts, changing hair colour and style, modifying speech patterns, and changing their sexual orientation.  Once a modification has been set, it cannot be changed until it has been reversed and  the original owner wins back the chip and loses it all over again.  The modification may be reversed (or "wiped out") at any time by the owner of the chip.

2) If a participant gets modified during the course of the game from something other than another chip, his/her heir or heiress may use a poker chip to negate the effects of a single modification.  Doing so, however, will also overwrite/replace the previous modifications that the chip has been used for.  This negation can be wiped out at any time by the owner of the poker chip provided it is in their hands.

Example Games that may show up in the Competition
Mind Ray Russian Roulette - Just like Russian Roulette, except instead of a killing bullet, it's a mind-control chip designed to make the target temporarily obey the commands of his/her opponent for a short period of time.  The players take turns using the dice roller.  The dice roller starts at 1d6.  After the first player rolls, the dice roller goes down to 1d5 and the second player rolls.  The first player to get a 1 ends up getting shot.  Before the game starts, each player's respective "employer" agrees on how many chips that they will bet.  The minimum bet is one chip each.

Modified Maid - No need for a dice roller here.  Each Player will receive one random modification at the start of the game, along with five cards.  Four of the five cards will contain your name.  The fifth card will contain the modification that has been done to you.  If you give the modification card to someone else, the random modification that you've been given will pass onto the card's new owner.  The goal of the game is to obtain at least four cards, each containing a name other than your own.  Once you've agreed on an exchange with another player, PM the dealer which card you intend to give to the other player.

Change Chess - The players literally play chess with each other.  During the course of the game, every time a player loses a piece, a random change will happen to their body and/or mind.  The severity of these changes depends on the piece that they've lost.  Losing a Pawn results in minor changes like hair colour while losing your Queen could result in being turned into a wanton slut with bunny ears and a tail.

Example Character Sheets

Name: Sandra Cross/Grayson
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Sexual Details: Virgin / Straight

Original Appearance: She has dark hair that's been dyed red and light greyish-green eyes. Her white tank-top shows off the creamy skin of her midriff while her camouflage pants stopped right above her ankles. Prayer beads encircled her left wrist while a bracelet encircled the other wrist.

Modifications:
Poker Chip - All hair from the chin down were permanently removed
Poker Chip - A need to suck on something when not talking, such as her thumb
Game Mod - Lactating Breasts

Poker Chips (Heirs/Heiresses only):
Sandra - Blank (x7)
Sandra - Negating Molly's heightened libido
Aaron - Negating Molly's addiction to semen

Biography:
Sandra Cross never knew her father nor did she ever cared.  She was raised by a single mother and grew up in a bad neighbourhood.  She saw crime everywhere she went, including her high school.  Despite this, however, or perhaps because of her circumstances, she developed a strong sense of justice.  Any time she saw someone in trouble, she couldn't help but butt in and defend the victim.  By the time she reached high school, she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up.  Working as hard as she could, she managed to earn a scholarship to the University of Texas.  It was there that she met and befriended her roommate at the time, Molly Yuen.  The two of them had been good friends for all four years and when they stayed in touch after graduation.  Since graduating, Sandra has been attending Harvard Law in order to pursue a career as a Legal Aid Attorney.

It was during her first year at law school when tragedy struck.  Her mother had fallen for a scam that resulted in a debt numbering in the hundred thousands.  In addition to that, her mother had also fallen ill from overworking herself trying to pay back that debt.  While Sandra was visiting her mother at the hospital, a group of men in business suits showed up.  The man in charge introduced himself as an employee of a company once headed by Sandra's father, the late CEO of Grayson Industries.  He then proceeded to explain The Inheritance Game and how winning it would solve all of Sandra's problems.

Ons & Offs:

Name: Molly Yuen
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Sexual Details: Virgin / Straight, also a little bi-curious and has kissed other women while she was still in college.

Original Appearance: Molly's dark hair is just long enough to reach past her chin.  She has snowy white pale skin and sharp dark brown eyes. Standing at 5 ft 2, she has a small and slim figure. Dispite her years of training, she does not look like someone who can do well in a fight.  Her seemingly frail frame makes her appear harmless as does her young age. Of course, that is only when one looks at her body. Her spirited eyes and the way she carries herself says otherwise.

Modifications:
Game Mod - Heightened Libido (Negated with Sandra's chip)
Game Mod - Addiction to semen (Negated with Aaron's chip)
Game Mod - Bisexuality
Game Mod - Pierced Nipples
Game Mod - Fetish for sucking and licking other people's feet
Game Mod - Cannot reach an orgasm without feeling pain

Biography:
Molly grew up watching cowboy cop films and detective dramas.  In addition to that, both of her divorced parents were part of the police force.  Her mother was Chief of Police in Houston and her father was a Lieutenant in the Homicide division in Austin.  Molly was ten when they divorced and she chose to live with her father in Austin.  She loved both her parents, but found it hard to respect either of them after the divorce.  She already had a bit of a rebelious streak, but it grew worse since then, though she began to tone it down during her last year of high school.

It seemed like the natural choice when, upon entering the University of Texas, she took courses in criminology and law.  She had fully intended to join the police force at that point and applied as soon as she turned 21 during her fourth year.  During her time at the University, she met and befriended her roommate at the time, Sandra Grayson.  The two of them had been good friends for all four years and when they stayed in touch after graduation.  Since graduating, Molly has been attending the Police Academy.  One day, she reached an urgent phone call from her friend...

This is very creative! I love it!

It seems a bit complicated and I wonder if it will work, but this is a really cool idea anyway.

I would like to play as a "Player".

Yukina

I think I might join. I plan to be a female player who was employed by one of the heiresses due to her near poverty.

Deathnote

Yeah... I may have to adjust the poker chip system a bit more.  Maybe I should also scrap the whole heir/heiress part and just make it be players against other players.  I only came up with that idea in order for there to be teams being formed.  Maybe have the first part be about each of the respective teams coming together for the first time.

Hercinia

I'd be happy to give this a go. It seems different enough to last a while. :)

Deathnote

So, that's three players who're interested in playing so far.  Think I should put up a character sheet now so you can start submitting your characters?

I should probably also allow up to two characters per player for now, too.  >_>

Yukina

That'd be great. By the way, are you still keeping the heir gimmick?

Deathnote

For now, just to see if anyone might be interested in playing as one of them.

Btw, Character Sheets are up along with a couple of Examples.

Hercinia

Two things:

Are the players starting with any modifications?

and

Is there any age limit for player characters?

Deathnote

All characters start with no modifications (that comes later during the games) and must be at least 18 years old.

Hercinia

Thought so, just checking before making a CS, thanks.

Name: Miyoko Sasahara
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexual Details: Virgin/Lesbian

Original Appearance:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Modifications: None at the moment

Biography: Miyoko was born to her Japanese mother and her American father. She inherited most of her features from her mother, though she has her father's skin tone. She was very happy at a young age, but her self esteem was soon crushed as she entered school. Miyoko was made fun of throughout her school life for her nationality, nerdy habits, and budding sexuality. Any friend she even had gotten had been one of those "fair weather friends".  Fortunately for her, she had graduated high school early and she current has her degree in web design. Miyoko mostly just resides in her apartment (which is filled to the brim with otaku-related merchandise and objects), only going out for her book store employee job and other necessities. Sadly for her, poverty is catching up.

Are you still recruiting for this?  I might be interested in tossing in a female player also.

Deathnote

Yes, I'm still recruiting.

In fact, quick headcount.  Who here's still interested?

Hercinia

Do we need to put down our character's Ons and Offs in our character sheets?

Deathnote

Not really.  Personally, I just tell people to look at "My Role Play Preferences".  You can do the same too.

Of course, that section can also be a good way of letting people know what you don't want done to your character right away.

She has been offered university sponsorship if she wins the game for her sponsor. The intelligent, but far too trusting young lady signed up and is now awaiting the start of the show.

Offs: Pregnancy, mutilation, extensive/ugly tattoos, death, scaring, FtoM transformation.

What's the style of the game setting like?

Does everyone show up casual?  Or is there some general theme or style to the place?

Hercinia

I may not have understood, but I think the idea is that the players have either been tricked, coerced or forced into playing the game, though I guess some may be willing participants.

I have no idea how we get there though lol

kylie

Not really trying to make a whole dress code, but I just wondered if there was some typical style for the event.

My first inclination was to get a kind of model-esque image, maybe even something slightly formal as the parties above it all were described as rather rich.  But some of the examples seemed to even emphasize their casual clothing, so I wasn't sure if that was just "if you met me in everyday life" sort of character background, or the group is somehow more like a little casual neighborhood party than a "serious" looking competition.

I understand there can be some coercion to it (that's great), although I didn't imagine it as a bunker where people play at gunpoint (hehe)...  So I don't think that's much of a problem.  Unless they really wanted it to look like some bumming homey reality show for posterity or a private audience or some such.  Or unless we're all going to be assigned starting clothes -- then I'd be kind of curious what they are, but if that's a secret I can try to deal.  Though I'm a little big on clothes  ::)

Mostly I was trying to decide if I wanted a character image that looked more pro model or casino, or more everyday and jeans...  That sort of thing.

Deathnote

The dress code will pretty much be the same as any high-quality casino, in that nobody cares what you wear.  I've heard about professional poker players who show up in t-shirt and jeans.  You can dress as nicely as you want or as slobbishly as you want.  Most of the spectators there will be wearing formal clothing, but the participants may wear whatever they like.  It's up to the Heirs/Heiresses to let them know whether or not they should wear formal clothing.  Maybe the term Heir / Heiress is what's throwing people off, since it implies that all of them are rich elite folks.  Illegitimate, disowned, or otherwise estranged descendents who have something to prove are considered qualified to compete as an heir / heiress.

Remember, the whole point of the game is for the Heirs/Heiresses to prove that they have what it takes to run a multi-megacorporation like OROCHI, which includes being able to find fresh talent.  The wealthy ones will be more inclined to persuade and lure in prospective players with promises of wealth and power before moving on to dirty tactics.  Many of them may feel the need to show off their representatives by making sure they dress nicely for the occasion, maybe even hire and pay for a personal tailor.  Most of them won't bother, though, and may fail to mention any sort of dress code, unless they've been asked about it.  Some of them might not even know about any dress code and will look just as out-of-place as their players by showing up in a t-shirt and jeans.

By the way, considering that there's only three players interested so far, each of you are allowed to create your own heir/heiress to go along with your participant.  Alternatively, you can all work under the same heir/heiress and play against NPCs.  :p

AurelieCatena

I won't be able to start this game until next year. Maybe I'll join it then, if that's still possible. In the mean time, good luck!
