*grins* I'm a firm believer that everything these days has a wiki and I love the detail that the creators of this one took the time to put into it

glad to help ;)

okay have seriously got to stop this penchant for being first to post >.<
character sheet posted and ooc bookmarked ;)
Gooooo Aliens!!  ;D

Fenrir

Ironwolf85, I honestly have no idea what negoi or spelljammer is referring to so... I'm going to move on!  Feel free to create a character an apply to approved.  And... I have no idea how to put this in a polite manner so I'm just going to throw it out there and hope I'm not stepping to far onto your toes.  I would ask that you use capitalization for your character sheet and for other posts within the game.  It honestly makes my brain freak out when it is not capitalized and it should be.  --->   ???  that is my brain.

Kendra, you totally made me shake my head in disappoint at myself... how did I not think of a wiki?  Had to have nearly doubled your kudos points  :D  I used a wiki for my initial post though I used a separate one but I doubt they deviate enough for it to matter.  I can't wait for the brother though!  I'm happy you've signed in at the OOC and posted your character thread!  It cracks me up you always manage to be first hehe...  I think I'm going to root for the colonist and not the aliens though... the colonist are serious underdogs!

Adonis, I'm really just saying your name because so far I've comment on most everyone's posts up until now... you posted so you get a comment.  That is all :D

Aliens - Hadley's Hope Character Application

Character Name:René Dustan (Most know him as "Gigs" however)
Sex: Male
Age: 28

Appearance

Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Brown
Skin: Moderatly tanned
Weight: 160 lbs
Height: 5'11
Other: Tattoo's on both arms, noticeably on the forearms, and a single triangle on his neck. Hidden about his person are a number of others, but for the most part rarely seen. Small portion of his right eyebrow is missing due to a mishap with a saudering gun.

Information:

Colony Job: Technician and resident Gaget-man.

Personality: Gigs is what you could describe as being a brilliant pervert. Found a camera in your shower? Gigs. One in your bedroom? Closet? That's Gigsy for ya. What he lacks for in morals however, he more than makes up in tech savvy with the colonies. More things have been spun from his mind that you wouldn't even think about on a daily basis than he can keep track of. But you'll be damned if he doesn't point them out... while he attempts to clumsily seduce, or simply grab a handful of whatever female ass is nearest. Another thing he's well known for is his mouth. Honest to definitely more than a fault, he has a penchant for stating the obvious, and saying exactly what everyone else is thinking. He prefers to be called an eccentric, however. One thing to remember, never piss off the guy who manufactures everything more complicated than a toaster, or repairs your weaponry. Or your vibrators.

Background: After a rather pain in the ass childhood and adolescence, René was dragged into DoD work, despite the spattering of sexual harassment lawsuits from female coworkers. Turns out those government types don't take kindly to being patted on the bottom in the lunch lines in the mess hall. He was soon drafted into the colonization efforts, leaving exactly no one behind (or at least no one that hadn't disowned him yet). He figured that all the women might get a wee bit lonely, and his ego wasn't going to let them go unharassed. Surely they could use a man of his caliber and intelligence when it came to creating new gadgets to better help them adapt. That and his ego wouldn't allow him to not rise to the challenge. So here he is, reporting for duty.
You can't change who people are at their core. You can only love them for what they've given you.

And cue the comic relief!  I was wonder how long it would take some one, two days is shorter than I expected but somehow I'm not surprised it's you.  If you manage to cop a good feel of alien ass we will end the game right there and declare you winner  ::)  You're approved feel free to post your character in the Roster and post in the OOC if you'd like.

Aliens - Hadley's Hope Character Application

Character Name: Alexander "Alex" Redstone
Sex: Male
Age: 32

Appearance

Hair: Short, neatly kept dark hair that is naturally curly but usually kept in shape with a fine amount of gel.
Eyes: Earthly Brown
Skin: Lightly Tanned
Weight: 170 lbs
Height: 6'0"
Other: Tattoo of a black dragon around his left wrist, devouring its own tail, ouroboros.

Information:

Colony Job:  Doctor, General Practitioner

Personality:  Generally good natured, Alex is an easy going guy with a 'dont ask dont tell' policy at his office. He doesn't blame people no matter what kind of injury or surprise they might show up with, and he maintains discretion by not talking about his patients with others unless he really needs a second opinion on something, and even then on patient's permission. He has a 'big brother' look towards most colonists, and considers it his duty to make sure everyone is healthy and well, though he is no saint.

Alex enjoys drinking socially, and has a few bottles kept at the clinic, priced possessions he would not want to part with if not a special occasion. He also calls a particularily strong old bottle his 'old school method' for pain-killers in case he had no access to the medical storage for some reason. He is prone to drinking a bit too much at times if shocked by what he sees though, and has been whispered to take things too personally about his work.

Background: Alex grew up as a big brother with five years lead to his younger brothers. He was a smart guy and considered his brothers to be so too, but when they signed up for Colonial Marines Alexander could not help but sigh. He joined along for a while, got his education as a combat medic in adverse conditions, but his tour of duty ended soon enough. With the basics already learned, he went to study medicine and graduated soon with good grades and a mark of ingenuity in some of his methods, but also with dark news on his graduation day.

His brothers were both killed in action just when he had finished learning how to make sure they'd live through any trouble they might get into. A bit depressed, he signed aboard a group heading to a colony that required a doctor. He felt if his brothers were dead, he'd need a new family to care for, and the colonists seemed like a noble choice. Besides, in a small colony, he did not mind the idea of being a single doctor with fair looks and reputation for discretion.

Character #2 then. (Political / Company Character)

Aliens - Hadley's Hope Character Application

Character Name: John White
Sex: Male
Age: 27

Appearance

Hair: Dark brown, dyed raven black
Eyes: Dark blue
Skin: Tanned
Weight: 175 lbs
Height: 5'8"
Other: Scar across his right hand's back, knife wound from a fight long ago.

Information:

Colony Job:  Administrator (General Manager)

Personality:   Manipulative and selfish, John is a user and elitist that believes that world belongs to the ones that dare. He regards other people as tools, fools and rivals. He is not a violent man but has ended up into trouble for his contempt on the working class now and again, but he's always managed to weasel away from trouble.

His saving grace is his skill with management. He can both make reports that state the truth while bolstering the colony image and making certain any requests for supplies to the colony are sent with everything checked out and cleared so that no trouble should come from paperwork. He's a company-man, with a desire to lead and control people.

He believes himself the Alpha-Male, and is usually hard to convince to back down even when outmatched, but he doesn't fight with muscle alone. There are some whispers that pissing him off means getting duty roster in the most disgusting jobs for a while afterwards, and less than stellar reviews on the person put into archives.

Background: Son of a wealthy industrialist and trained from early on that money matters the most in the world, John is a somewhat cold man when it comes to emotions. He regards other people with quiet, smug sense of superiority, though usually having a better impression on the women than the men. He was sent to the colony by his family as a test of his abilities and management skills, with a promise of a high-ranking place in the company in 10 years time if he performs as remarkably as he has been noted to perform in the past.

2 years into his 'prison sentence' at the colony and he is bored, annoyed, frustrated, and quite eager to stomp on people's fingers just to get himself a thrill sometimes. Getting through another eight years seems like a bore in this colony, but he is confident that he has a long, bright future ahead of him, and nothing is gonna stop him.

Character #3,  (Engineering / Security [Both at entry level due to lack of proper experience.])

Aliens - Hadley's Hope Character Application

Character Name: Teresa Gaulman
Sex: Female
Age: 19

Appearance

Hair: Deep Brown
Eyes: Cold Blue
Skin: Fair
Weight: 150 lb
Height: 5'3"
Other: No tattoos or scars, wears glasses.

Information:

Colony Job:  Student of Engineering Designs, Part-Time Security (In-Training)

Personality:  Friendly but a bit unhappy, Teresa is a young woman who is not very happy about her life at the colony. She is studying still, but has grudgingly taken up working as security, part-time. This is mostly learning from more experienced security how to do things, but she has found herself in some trouble and learned to defend herself against the average drunk idiot at the colony.

She is not really that good fighter though, and mainly hopes to maintain peace, and enjoys a little bit of liberty at having security access around the colony at times. It has helped her explore some less-used sections too, something that she does to stave off what she calls the inevitable death by boredom. She is hoping to get away from the colony in the future when she has finished her education and gathered some money to pay for not only a trip away but a stay somewhere else until she has landed herself a job.

She thinks she has to get off the planet before it kills her someday. When she thought of this, she meant her spirit, but she had no idea of what lay ahead.

Background:  Daughter of Maria and Jacob Gaulman, Teresa is a semi-independant young woman that wanted to move out of her parents care as soon as she could, but given how she is not yet earning much and still has studies to complete, she has relied on their support while begrudgingly working for the benefit of the colony. Unlike her parents, she has zero frontier spirit, and hopes to get away from the colony as soon as she can get herself all she needs.

Teresa was the top of her class in engineering classes, wanting to design and improve various machinery from engines to scanners, and to adjust and optimise devices. She had a bright future ahead of her, but one thing stopped her from being hired. Nobody wanted to hire someone who only had theoretical experience, demanding her to acquire a year or two of practical experience before re-applying. She has to get dirty and do the wrench-work to get further, and she knew this when she arrived to the colony. With more time practicing with machines, she could eventually advance to making new designs, or so she was promised at least.

She has been taking some lessons from the engineers at the colony, seeing how they have come up with ways to work around problems, and getting real life experience, but the repetitious work in maintaining things is not appealing to her much, as she likes to have variety that she had in designing. For this purpose, she decided to split her time between studies, and another kind of work.

She has worked as part-time security for a few months, learning the basics but not yet ready to take on the job entirely alone usually, rather accompanying someone else at jobs to learn the way things are done. She is expecting to be kicked out on her own on some of the security jobs soon though, and in the meanwhile she considers the security-access a toy to play with, and explore the colony's less-frequented areas.

Fenrir - will try to work on my guy later today if I can
otherwise will sort him out in the morning
;)

Fenrir

Wintercat, very good job on your characters I only have two minor things I want to suggest...  The Alex Redstone character likely will not be the only doctor.  From what I know of Kendra's Daniel character he is a military medic of some sort and though she hasn't posted him yet it is in his sister's biography.  Plus, with 158 colonist I think there would be cause for at least one other doctor anyway not to mention a nurse (if anyone is interested!)  Just edit a bit to where is isn't the sole doctor and I think he's golden.  The other has to do with Teresa,  I just wanted a few more details around her "studying."  What's she studying and why did they decide to send her along if she is not directly contributing to the project (i.e. did they choose her because the person she's studying under is old and they thought hmm... what if he dies?  Is it because she was at the top of her class or slept with the judge of her application).  Plenty of ideas to choose from really, I leave it up to you ;D  If you go ahead and make these minor adjustments I'll go ahead and say they're all approved.

Kendra!  Feel free to take your time with him- can't always rush a good thing.  Plus we already have *squeaks*  TEN colonist... and that is merely from half of the people who said they were interest!  Whoah, I'm excited.   ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D *clears throat*  I mean... well, moving on!

For everyone interested!  (be aware... I have a lot of parenthesis)  I plan to have the first post up by Friday-  It will be under Aliens - Hadley's Hope Work Stations...  (I've changed the layout of threads)  But this one contains every colonist's workstation (excluding the medlab which threads with the mess hall and will be going up at the same time for characters who start out hungry, sick, or the doctor characters).  Workstations is fairly explanatory but, these are the places where colonist work on a day to day basis and are a great way to introduce each of them.  I would suggest keeping up with what work stations are posted within this thread (I think I'll start a list at the top)  So later when things go horribly... horribly wrong with death and destruction (yay Xenomorphs), and there is no more actual work- you are aware of the different kinds of places your characters can be at, or work be working towards.   I'll post the link to the Work Stations here and in the OOC as soon as I get up.  I'm waiting to collect all of my thoughts and to give all others interested time to complete characters.  If you aren't finished by then don't worry just get it up when it's complete!

Also, originally I had planned to do one long initial post where my two characters go out and one ends up face hugged and return to the colony.  However, I am no planning to break it up into several post to give players a chance to introduce their characters and start interacting with each other, if they choose to do so.  If someone would like to create a character to go with me that would be perfectly fine.  I have Jessica the previous military badass slowly going down hill on security duty for one Miss Linda who is a survey scout.  Off the top of my head I have no idea what kind of character or job to add to their expedition but feel free to come up with ideas.  I will only be accepting two characters (preferably from two different players) and it is on a first come, first serve basis.  (this means a completed character sheet not just expressing interest).  If no one is interested I'll simply do the posts solo and gradually through out everyone else's posts.

Wintercat

Thank you for your feedback Fenrir, I made some adjustments. I see Alex more of a General Practicioner Doctor than any specialist (such as Surgeon or Pharmacist) but good general knowledge, and with some combat-medic experiences having left him with some measure of 'all around' medical skill. He's not going to do brilliant medical research but he can treat most kinds of wounds if the person can limp back to his office alive. He's no miracle worker though, good but not enough to save everyone, especially when things get more intense and supplies may be expended faster than expected.

As for Teresa then, I kind of envisioned her being good with machinery, but that she dislikes the idea of 'grunt work' of fixing stuff, thinking herself as a girl that is bound to design the next new great thing when she gets the chance to. In her time in the colony, she's finished her education for most part, but should get -work experience- so she could get a better job, presently being denied a job elsewhere due to the fact her studying has been theoretical. So she might have to be a 'grease monkey' from time to time, but...

Her being an impatient teen, she would rather do something more interesting (like designing) but routine maintenance is not that. So she's began to work as security part-time, thinking its a good way to also get to go around and see various places in the colony, and in particular, see systems that she would otherwise not be allowed to get near!

Hope that helps clarify things and helps make the two characters acceptable then.

Fenrir

Wintercat, I appreciate you clarifying and clearing up those things for me and I most certainly approve the edited characters!  I like the variety they offer to the colonist in job and personality.  Feel free to add them into the Aliens - Hadley's Hope Colony Roster.  Though I ask that you post each one separately.  It helps me to count and later when people start dying it will be easier to tell who is deceased so it will be at the top of a post instead of in the middle.  Also go ahead and post in theAliens - Hadley's Hope OOC at your leisure.  Welcome to aboard!   ;D

Wintercat

Thank you for the welcoming and the approval, I posted the characters in the colony roster, and I'll be taking a look at OOC again and posting there too soon.

Also, on a side note for anyone without idea what to play, well... I may have given names to Teresa's parents (Maria & Jacob Gaulman) but beyond that, they are left as total NPCs still.

So if Fenrir approves on it (and someone doesn't mind playing character(s) that have an 19 year old daughter) then I got no problem with someone playing her family members. Though I imagine that's pretty unlikely, I'd imagine folks want to play up a bit younger characters.

Still, if someone really wanted to play but had no other ideas at hand at all, I thought I'd toss it on the table.

want to make a secondary female engineer, but DAAAAAAAAMN.....I hate writing bio's, their so boreing....

Character Name: Simon Braid
Sex: Male
Age: 34

Appearance

Hair: Dark brown
Eyes: Blue
Skin: White
Weight: 230 LBS
Height: 6'2
Other: Simon has suffered numerous injuries in the past, which has left his body riddled scars an and old wounds.

Information:

Colony Job:
Security Officer
Personality:
Years of service has left Simon cold and emotionally jaded.
Background: Simon was a good for nothing kid back in his youth. His family could not afford getting him a proper education and so he got by as best he could on the street. Once of age, he joined the military in hopes to escape that life. During his service he recived numerous awards and commendations, though he cared little for it. There was nothing glorious, or honorable about what he did. It was simply a job like any other. Though after sixteen years of loyal service, he finally retired from the military, in exchange for a easier, if not calmer life as a security officer at Hadley's Hope.

Fenrir

I agree I find bio's very boring sinoraa!  I typically like to build my characters around the story I'm writing but I figure it isn't so bad to start out knowing a little more about them anyway.  I approve your first character, Add them into the Aliens - Hadley's Hope Colony Roster.  and you can post in theAliens - Hadley's Hope OOC when ever you can.  I look forward to your next character.

Wintercat, thank you for offering some ideas out there for people and I just wanted to add a little more to that.

A lot of people seem to be sticking to the "important" jobs, or those they think will help them survive better and while that's perfectly alright we also need those squishy people.  Just because they're squish doesn't mean they can't rise to the occasion.  If you're still having trouble with ideas here are a few characters we could use based on those we already have.  A Mr. René Dustan most definitely calls for a legal case worker of some sort.  Though Wintercat offered his parent's, his character Alex Redstone and Kendra's planned Dr. Daniel Houstan could use a nurse of some sort.  Also, John White seems the type to need an assistant.  Other jobs needed could be, a psychologist (someone prepared to help the colonist adjust to living so far away from family, friends, and civilization as they know it), a biologist (the colonist think there is no life on the planet currently, but eventually there will need to be),  an environmentalist (the planet is cold and cloudy and needs to become more livable), and an atmosphere engineer (someone who helps create breathable air). Other, likely less wanted jobs, could be a janitor, plumber, someone who takes care of the inventory (an inventorist?  ??? ),  cooks, and keep in mind though everyone seems to have their field they have people working under or with them.  No one person can complete all of the cooking for the colony for example.  Anyway I hope that helps anyone struggling with ideas.

I just never liked Bio's because I prefer to get to know characters in the RP. Vise versa I don't want to define my character on a piece of paper, but rather through his or her actions.

yeah -- Farah is a Planetary Engineer who is basically tasked with making other worlds habitable for life - so she'd be up for assistants or other engineers up the whazooo for sure ;)

here's the doctor - hope he's okay

Aliens - Hadley's Hope Character Application

Character Name: Dr. Daniel Michael Houstan
Sex: Male
Age: 33

Appearance

Hair: auburn
Eyes: blue
Skin: pale
Weight: 6' 2"
Height: 170lbs
Other: marine insignia tattooed to his right upper arm; small scar under chin, bullet wound rear entry to left shoulder.

Information:

Colony Job:  Medic

Personality: Calm under pressure; decisive; trustworthy; direct; never cuts corners, hard worker, loyal friend.

Background: born and raised in Plymouth, Luna he is the eldest of two children. His mother a known and respected surgeon had always hoped her children would follow in her footsteps because the alternative was to follow in their fathers and this would have given her more cause for worry that she did not need. Daniel adored both parents however and being extremely respectful to those in authority (more so when they deserve and have earned it) he knew his father wanted him to join the marines and spent most of his school life being geared in that direction.

He did not mind this however, for he always knew he could combine his desire to help people with an army career and after doing a years service in the marines applied for a medical career. Five years passed before he was qualified but with his determination and ease of adaptation to any given situation, Daniel was soon being put on rosters for colonisation expeditions. By the time his sister told him about Acheron, he had risen in his field. As highly respected as both his parents, he knew he could not let his sister go alone to LV-426.

Only a few strings were pulled to get him on the roster for the colony, they were thrilled to have someone of his expertise out there. He knows it won't be easy, there will be other medical staff but he will be expected to do any major surgery, inoculating the colonists, making sure they all have their regular medical check ups and with that came the endless headaches involved. Still it beat sitting in a doctors chair at the Plymouth general hospital which would have been his next port of call when he left the marines.

Question Mark

I'm still interested!!  Two lab reports, two write-ups, two tests, and two field excursions all in two days... makes for a very busy two days.  I'll get my characters up soon; I'm thinking a nurse and a biologist, both male for any concerned parties.  I'm on my iPod atm, thus the brevity.

Thanks for your patience, Fenrir!

Aliens - Hadley's Hope Character Application

Character Name: Grace Johnstone
Sex: Female
Age: 23

Appearance

Hair: Dirty, strawberry blonde
Eyes: Green
Skin: Light tan
Weight: 135 lbs
Height: 5'9"
Other: Navel piercing, both ear lobes pierced, no other distinguishing marks

Information:

Colony Job:  Chef

Personality: Grace possesses a kindness beyond words, often attributed to her name. She is very calculated; always one to make sure that her words come out the way she meant them to and that her actions reflect on her morals.

Background: Grace Johnstone is the first born daughter of Mark and Samantha Johnstone, a biologist and artist, respectively. It was a strange union seen by most, but the personalities of both her parents offset each other very well, creating a nice median of the both with their first daughter. Her childhood along with her family (including a younger sister who joined her only a few years later) was looking to be a very long, peaceful, and perhaps boring as time went by, only to be derailed by Mark's affair with his work.

With her sister and mother, Grace's disposition on her life had changed from wanting to preserve the warmth of a true family to just wanting to get away from it all. When becoming of age and working menial jobs to save money, the young woman found a passion for cooking; making people happy through that. When an opportunity came up to cook for a few soldiers and scientists alike on a colony, she couldn't pass up the chance. As soon as she could, she packed up her bags and signed up help out on LV-426. Along with her sister...

Aliens - Hadley's Hope Character Application

Character Name: Amanda 'Mandy' Johnstone
Sex: Female
Age: 18

Appearance

Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Hazel
Skin: Fair
Weight: 125 lbs
Height: 5'6"
Other: N/A

Information:

Colony Job:  Medical Student

Personality: Amanda is sexy and she knows it. Not a tease by any means, the young girl, however, knows very well that her looks can get her most anything that she wants. Kind to a point, impatient practically with most, Amanda is really just a young girl who doesn't know what she wants.

Background: The second daughter to Mark and Samantha Johnstone, Amanda didn't have very many memories of her family before they had split off. She learned at young age that men were pretty stupid and lame (most of those thoughts fed to her through her mother and sister, as a consequence of their poor relationship with her father), instead focusing most of her adolescence on her school work and bettering herself.

In due time, she was well on her way into a career in the medical field. Her sister, came to her one day, selling the idea that if she were to come to a colony with her and raise it from the ground up, she would gain experience that many her age couldn't get and half a one-up on the competition if she were to go home for a job. Whether it was the keener inside of Amanda or the thrill of adventure, it didn't matter, for she followed her sister gleefully into the unknown.

Fenrir

Kendra, Dr. Houstan is most certainly approved and for some reason the simplicity and directness of his personality make me lick my lips  ;)  Go ahead and add him to the Roster whenever you get the chance!  And since we've already since your handy work in the OOC I suppose you could skip that little step.

QuestionMark, glad to see you're still interested and my you are a busy bee.  I love the sound of a nurse and biologist so I very much look forward to the characters.

Rachubka, very nice characters.  I approve of Grace Johnstone and you may add her to the Roster when ever you get a free moment.  I'm super happy we have a cook for some odd reason.  Though, I have one small hiccup with her sister Amanda, however... Just a little tiny one.  I do not like the idea of any student being within the colony because there is little room and they would not be sent on such an expensive mission if they were merely studying.  I like much better the idea of a Medical "Intern" that way she is still learning but she can also practice medicine to a certain extent.  Change that little word within the post and she can be added to the Roster as well.  Though please post them separately.  Also here is the OOC for you to post.

With QuestionMarks addition of a nurse the Medical Staff will be FULL.  Two doctors, an intern, and a nurse should be more than plenty to start.

Sorry, I was trying to think of it before, but I think the 'Let's watch the Leafs get beatdown in Beantown' brews got me rattled. Makes perfect sense. :D I'll just change it in the roster post, since I am THAT lazy.

Aliens - Hadley's Hope Character Application

Character Name: Dr. Thurston Marshall
Sex: Male
Age: 32

Appearance

Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Skin: Pale
Weight: 150 lbs
Height: 6' 4"
Other: A tall almost emaciated skeleton of a man.

Information:

Colony Job: Chief Bio-Engineer

Personality: Thurston is cold and distant. He considers most others to be beneath him, and often sees his colleagues as little more than organisms to be studied and understood. He almost seems to relate better to his "creations" than the people around him.

Background:It was apparent that Thurston was a genius from an early age. By the time he was only a few months old he was learning to speak, and when he was just a few years old he he was reading at an adult level. However, even with these remarkable achievements, he was still markedly different from other children. He had no interest in playing games or making friends. Instead Thurston threw himself entirely into the studies of science and Biology. He earned several doctorates in the fields of plant and animal research with an emphasis in genetic engineering and ecopoiesis, and before long he was a top sought after expert in his field to aide terraforming projects. When he was requested to head up the bio-engineering division of the LV-426 terraforming project by the Weyland-Yutani corporation, Dr. Marshall readily agreed. The other planets he had worked on had been too close to near earth atmospheres to give him a chance to flex his creative genius, but LV-426 would allow him to attempt some of his more... esoteric designs.
