What plot/story line can you never find a partner for?

I'm interested in hearing what specialized idea you have that no ones really had an interest in, or you haven't tried to get a partner yet because its such a niche market story, obscure enough in some way that its difficult to find people for it.

For me, its finding someone to play Raven from Teen Titans. How about you?

Inkidu

The short answer is whatever I happen to be wanting to RP the most in the world. Never get a nibble until it's no longer what I want to play most in the world. :P
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

Beorning

I can't seem to find any partners for my stories involving nuns. Also, mind control stories. Stepford Wives-inspired stories aren't getting that much interest, either...

Interdiction of words

For me its has always been the White knight coming to save others, no one seems to like the white knight charging across the battlefield, rushing to defend those under his/her banner at any cost. Everyone really likes an evil knight instead of a white knight.

*opens up a giant file cabinet filled with ideas*Take your pick. So very many. I mean it seems like either no one is interested in anything much of the time no matter what the idea is. I mean I have a ton ideas floating around in my head  that I wish to play out but no one seems all that interested in. Some are more simple, others are more complex, but it kills me that i haven't had the chance to play them out.

Often times people come asking me to play a stereotypically masculine hero type which I could honestly care less about. What I would give for a partner who just allows my characters to be vulnerable and elegant rather than hoping I'll be some overbearlingly macho sort. No matter how obvious I make it that I do not like playing that kind of character it happens.

I would also like to play something in a fantasy world with sorcery that operates in a fashion more akin to real world occult traditions, but there doesn't seem to be many people interested in such a thing out there.

Dotley

RP set in the World of Warcraft verse, especially storylines revolving around Blood Knights, Death Knights, or Dark Rangers.

Storylines that require me or my partner or both of us to play multiple main or supporting characters (though actually recently I've had good luck with this one!)

Stories with really dark and twisted storylines. Psychological horror. Portraying mental illness accurately (though again recently managed to find someone for this, it just took a few years of looking)

Submissive top characters to play opposite of my dominant bottom characters in M/M pairings.

Characters that are sadistic but submissive for both M/M and F/M pairings.

It can be tough to play damsel in distress in a modern setting, without making it either super easy really automatic romance sneaking through, super gritty whack you over the head how raw and evil they want to be, or a sort of canonic traditional D/s or Story of O echo.  Not to mention trying to toss in a bit of contemporary issues in a dry light, or ask for clothing fetishes.

Oh my, Raven from Teen Titans? No takers on that one? She doesn't strike me as such a complicated character. How curious. o:

But then gain..

I think the story that I've tried and failed with the most times out of all plots I've ever tried playing would have to be me playing Hinata, and finding someone willing to and/or capable of playing a believable Kiba or, even rarer, Shino. When I say 'Even rarer' I actually mean that I've never found anyone who opted for playing Shino, while I've had two takers for Kiba, and out of those two, only one of the RP's got off the ground, but died after some 20 posts.

For those who don't know, these are all characters borrowed from the Naruto universe. The animated series, to be precise, as I've never gotten around to reading the manga.

Speaking as someone who plays Raven in a different RP environment...

While I wouldn't call the character particularly complicated (depending on whether referring to the comic book or cartoon iterations), if the person playing her has an interest in the character staying more or less in-character, it can be extremely tricky to get her invested in anything resembling an intimate relationship that doesn't also involve a lot of emotional manipulation - direct or indirect - and drama, which a lot of people aren't so much into. She's very much not an ideal candidate for "smut" RP and doesn't really lend herself well to shorter or one-shot setups either without hollowing the character out significantly.

Suffice it to say I've had Raven as a character in said other RP setting for over 9 years now and probably only gotten her involved in maybe 25 or so RP scenes, most of them non-sexual. Probably fewer, really.

/thread_detour

While I wouldn't say I can never find a partner for it, I have a hard time holding onto one for large-scale world exploration/adventure stories, whether I'm the adventurer (preferred), the world-builder (more difficult; I have trouble maintaining a coherent plot to follow) or a mixture of the two (also good!). And that's understandable to me - it takes a lot of energy to maintain RP on that scale, always going out and finding/creating new material and carrying a growing story along the way, so it's not as though I'm flabbergasted by the difficulty of finding it. Still sorta disappointing though. xD

For me the interest in Raven as a character is having my character being the one person she does let her guard down around, after getting to know them, starting to trust them. It would take a while, and would definitely be a slow build. But thats what I really want, to have my character be her support, and to play around with all those complex emotions. That to me sounds like fun. :)

When putting it like that, it actually does sound amazing. It's sort of my typical kind of character really, which makes me a tad sad I've never come across you before. :P I do so many characters based on the whole sort o brick-wall on the outside, really quite squishy on the inside. If I should describe how I see Raven (Basing everything entirely on the cartoon and a few of her minor comic roles) it would probably be as someone who does her utmost to never get emotionally involved with anything, in order to make sure she isn't hurt in a way she can't handle. You know, physical pain is sort of whatever, wounds close and hell, just put on a band-aid. I imagine her being rather insecure and intimidated when faced with emotional problems, like how she will always dodge Beastboy (Boy-beast? I can't quite remember, but I believe he had a thing for her?) whenever he tried to get close, and never accept nor reject his affection.

But I guess I'm getting a little sidetracked - Just thought it was sort of interesting to think about. :) She's definitely one of those characters that happen to be straight up my alley that I've just never realyl thought about playing.

Rather than explore and look around, or do anything even remotely interesting, they'd rather just wait for the first potential bedmate to come along and then do their utmost to get smutty as quickly as possible. :/ It sort of stings, y'know? Yea, I feel your sorrow for I am a avid writer that has written some novels here and there but the people bite my ass just for smut. All they want is smut while missing the big picture of the story or ideas involved. In fact I am about to start a new story revolved around the death of a Teutonic Knight that falls into the world of Equstria. Would peace and prosperity overwhelm him or alienate him? I love story more then smut, without story smut is pointless porn. So I wish ,as well, for more story in Roleplaying.

My dream rp is to play out the life of a fighter. The ups and the downs. The sweat and the pain. Win or lose. Just realism. I don't expect to find it. I seem to be the rarity in the roleplaying community for my interest in such things.

Raigi

Hum, my problem is less about finding partners for storylines rather than keeping them together after romance ensues. It seems like once the thrill of the chase is gone then interest is often lost. I'm guilty of this of course I think everyone has been at one time or another but it's a glaring weakness of mine I'm trying to overcome. I feel like a lot of storyline ideas that die out too fast are due to my inability to create interesting things to do between larger plot points. I'm a boring person in real life so the little quirks of what people do in their down is often lost as hapless filler. I also have difficulty keeping a story moving unless I make a very concerted effort to do so.

As for a specific storyline idea? Hum.. I can't say I've never found a partner but I havn't found one for a very long time. I used to roleplay as a catfolk that was more human than beast and was taken in as the child of an architects son. The townsfolk never really accepted him and growing up he was the subject of a great deal of teasing and bullying. Despite being intelligent and a good hard worker he never attained any sort of respect outside of when he was working on the roofing of the townsfolks buildings or spending the pittance he was given as pay. He became a recluse never attending festivals, ceremonies or town meetings which for the most part the people were just fine with.

He is meant to be about 20 or so years and living on the outskirts of town in a run down old two story home that looks like it's seeing a VERY slow renovation. A small garden surrounds the lovely cobblestone path that leads to his rickety old home. Despite growing into a rather handsome specimen of a half human he's never so much as spoken to a woman beyond a short bow and a "Ma'am" which is usually followed by his quick leave. The idea was usually that the harvest festival was coming up soon and that he'd caught the eye of a pretty young girl who he didn't even know existed. What would her parents say if she'd asked the outcast to be her date for such an event?

That was pretty much supposed to be the starter for something much larger with brigands looking to rob the village blind and steal their harvest while the townsfolk were too drunk and passed out to resist. Maybe grab a woman or two to sell on the slave market? I havn't thought it out beyond that but it would require a great many NPC's to be played by both players and a special type of person that likes to mend the hearts of emotionally damaged characters. I have always to pick back up on the idea and perhaps take it to new heights though I've all but given up hope for it heh.

As a side note the character is meant to have a latent affinity to magic but he can't really control it. It's not exceptionally powerful but magic isn't exactly a thing in the world beyond court wizards for the king and the like. It gave a nice stepping to stone to getting discovered and ending up doing work for the kingdom rather than just being a pair of peasants.

Nods to that - bondage/abduction plots sometimes tend to get quite formulaic and predictable. Or repetitive, if you've started a group game and the ladies are getting tied up and powerless...and perhaps used or treated harshly in a fierce and unrelenting way. It can be very hard to break out of or avoid a simple overkill of roughing and bondage that simply stalls the whole story arc.  And I'm saying this as someone who loves a good bondage game or suspenseful noir story...

With a few transpersons/crossdressers thrown in, it gets even harder to find partners for a bondage/abduction story. Especially if they're to be mixed with born, 'real' women. Many people would read that kind of domination as "a gay thing" and feel chilled by it - I don't agree it's gay, but you can't argue about what one is turned on by in this context-

Hear hear.

Actually, it's not so much me not finding partners, as it is any trans-gender character of mine being denied in a group game. So I guess it's sort of the opposite scenario: I can never find plots and stories for these particular characters. In a group-game context, of course.

Now, I don't want it to sound like some open, blatant sexism is going across the site or whatever, but I'd say that I'm pretty close to being outright rejected for group games because of a characters sexuality being of an alternative nature some 50% of the time, maybe even a bit more than that. Whether it's a GM who doesn't like it, and doesn't want it, or he/she fears it might somehow interfere with the game.. Well, who can tell? I'm going to openly say this though: I think a lot of group games are actually less of a 'group' game as it is a GM looking to have as many characters as possible interact directly with his/her own. ^^' That might kick up some controversy, but that's sort of how I feel. I feel like a GM will often reject you based on their own personal preference, and lack of sexual interest in your character, than any knowledge of the majority of players in said games opinion, even if they use that as an excuse.

Of course, you do run into some people every now and again who will try and convince you that they know what's best for you and your character, and what impact you and said character has on everyone. Those people more often than not don't have a clue. :P

So yeah - I'm not all that fond of group games because I don't like being responsible for a story slowing down for 10+ people just because I'm busy one day, but whenever I find something interesting, I don't get to enter because of my character. xD

Sorry about he huge cut to the quote, but I wanted to be clear what my post focus was on.

You don't know how much I wish I could find a partner who would be fine with crossdressing and the bulk of my characters who are "femboys" so to speak. It seems like it's harder than I had expected. Even some Dommes don't care for it. It's not so much that I want them to think it's the sexiest thing in the world, just a partner who at the very least is okay with my "effeminate" tendencies that are expressed through these characters. I may be a cisman but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy that which is elegant. I also like combining characteristics that seem stereotypically masculine and stereotypically feminine in characters. I think playing a car obsessed, gunslinging, making wearing, cross dressing nurse who moonlights as a bounty hunter sounds fun. Not a perfect example but you get the idea.

I mean I get everyone has their own tastes, but it would just be nice.

As an aside, I find it funny that I'd post what I did above here while I'm in the midst of plotting out a long-term thing for Raven in that other environment. xD

This too! Not that it's something I specifically look for as such, but generally any characters that fall short of being perfectionist images of men and women from their best angles in tight suits and cocktail dresses. There's quite a lack of characters that are sort of.. 'Common people' in the sense that they aren't overly beautiful and what not. I personally really enjoy playing characters with some kind of obvious physical flaws that detract from their overall appearance. It's sort of a tiny, insignificant crusade of mine that whenever I play a character with a low amount of confidence and shatter self-esteem they have to have a reason for it - It drives me up a tree sometimes when someone plays a woman who's gorgeous on the eyes, rich, has an amazing and well-paying job out of reach of us mortals, and for no reason at all suffers from major insecurities that she can't control. I mean, come on, it just doesn't feel real to me. :/

I like things like the classical cliché disfigurements - Obvious scars or burns and such, possibly even some kind of X-men'esque mutation. A girl who's rather self  conscious about the fact that she's got green skin, three florescent purple eyes and fangs is much more appealing to me as an insecure, socially awkward character than Ms. Universe 2014 who just got a job as a high-end lawyer and lives on a yacht, and just happens to be an emotional wreck for no apparent reason.

Those characters, those are hard to find I think, and often even harder to get to play.

Planescaaaape.

Not that I've tried recently, mind you.  But I love the setting so much that I want it to be a really good game, which means a partner who clicks well and is also interested in the setting, which means... it just kind of sits on the back of the ideas shelf, giving me that lizard-stare.

Mmn.. Planescape....

Seems that anything setting based is scary, or intimidating or something. I get more bites for the unspecific stuff, some of which is just rehash of stuff in the setting-based plot-points.

Planescape, man, I'd love to get to play that, but my standards are pretty high for it. A game with good, tight writing and plenty of philosophical implications, encounters and characters odd, unique yet compelling in being so.

Zekromnomnom

I think for me, I often have trouble finding any partners for my non-specific ideas that are on the smuttier side. For instance, years ago I wrote with someone about a guy in high school who ended up having a tryst with his teacher. Which was pretty simple, even though we also threw in that she was a hermaphrodite. But the partner I had worked out a good bit of backstory with me and we actually never got to any of the smut, just story and buildup and it was an amazing game. But I have yet to find anyone else willing to work so much with me on such a simple idea. Although I realize I may be expecting a bit too much and that people may be turned off by how vague and simple and smutty some of my ideas appear to be.

Other than that, I have trouble finding people to play in certain fandoms with me. I tend to not like playing canon characters most of the time, but the few I am comfortable with, no one is ever interested in. Again, though, to be fair, with how little sleep I've gotten, literally the only one coming to mind for me right now is a Frog/Flea pairing from Chrono Trigger, which is just...extremely niche.

And I have to agree about settings, although I think some of it is my fault. I like playing in Forgotten Realms and WAY WAY more in Eberron, but I often have trouble sticking with it.

Lux12

Another group of plots I have that no one shows any interest in is one where the characters are married. It's not like I'm actually proposing to the partner in question, but it still doesn't get much interest.

Crimsonbella

Aside from what's already been said, I've had some fandom ideas on previous forums that were outright ignored. One inquiring mind asked me about my plot, and I felt I detailed it out along with the pairings I'm hot for fairly well. Their reply was literally "Oh that's nice. Well here's the OC I'd like to use." Needless to say things didn't get far.

I've asked for that in other places as well, and not once did I ever get reply. The only thing that you could say came close was someone that wanted a pre-arranged marriage where they bride and groom never met before. It was...rather disappointing.

An Iron Age comic book storyline.  Everyone looks at the Avengers and Captain America films and thinks that what comics should be like.  (Not that there's anything wrong with that.  Just...  That's not all there is, you know?)

And I will FREELY admit and totally agree that most of the Iron Age stuff was shite, unmitigated, unforgivable crap that is better suited to a paper shredder than human consumption.  But the good stuff?  The good stuff was insightful, clever and sometimes even deconstructive in a good way without wallowing in pity, anger or otherwise overly emo behaviour.

Here's another. Any D/S situation that involves the sub being somewhat damaged in a psychological sense and the Mistress ends up trying to help them deal with their issues in the midst of all the kinky loveliness. I have two characters sort of built around this premise but most other times where I tried to play them, most people either wanted to hurt them in ways that were not pleasurable or were too vanilla. I'm as much a sucker for the sweet, tender stuff as I am the rough, kinky.

Also any plot driven scenario set in a world that is either set in 1.) An 18th century equivalent world 2.) A modern fantasy setting that is not Earth or any kind of alternate history. or 3.) Something set in an iron age world.

At the moment, I think any idea I have would either be too obscure or too "simple" for potential partners here. That and... video games.

I've done two MMA related ones waaaay back. On another website.  Its linked on my signature of past role plays.

Well... it's nice to know I'm not the only one interested in such games. And Planescape is my favorite setting of all time.

I gotta admit, remembering which Age is which as far as comics go is a toughy for me. But actually, any kind of comic book or super hero game I ever want to go for never really works out for me. I think my ideas are always too vague or something, I dunno.

OK, Quick primer, now the dates can be on contention because most people can't really agree on when it really started but here goes:

The Golden Age was during the late 30's to the early, early 50's, it featured more fantastic stories, but it was a time of experimentation.

The Silver Age, also known as the Four Colour era (so named due to the colouring process that came in prominence, literally dots of four colours were used to make every colour.) was during the fifties to the late seventies.  It came about due to the outcry of parents unable to take responsibility for their own kids, and blaming comics for causing delinquency (sounds familiar?) and the Comic industry created a system to regulate themselves:  The Comics Code.  The best example of this era is the 60's Batman show, and Superfriends.  It lasted from the mid-50's to the late 70's, early 80's.

The Comics Code started loosening it's grip during the latter end of the 70's, as stories were allowed to get away with more mature issues, but the mid 80's is a where the Iron Age truly started and the code was more or less abandoned.  Comic 'Anti-Heroes' such as Marvel's The Punisher began to increase in popularity, as did DC's Watchmen.  At it's best it touched on things like drug abuse, sex, drinking and the use of violence and the consequences (good, but mostly bad) of such actions.  At it's worse, it broke down into an excuse for Super Ninja fueled ultra violence orgy, with blood and sex trying to mask itself as a mature story.  Sadly, there were waaaaay more of the bad, than the good.

But some of the good were things like female characters finally allowed to shine on par with their male counterparts more often.  The early Uncanny X-Men run with Christopher Claremont at the helm was one such advancement.  However, the later 90's had the, what I like to call the 'Guys with Tits' problem.  Where the female characters created were almost indistinguishable from the earlier male superheroes.  But a lot of the fans ate it up.

The thing is the 'current age' has had several names, but once you pick a name, the 'era' of comics is over, but at the moment we're on a 'Bronze' nomenclature.  Because we got elements of Silver and Iron, and some Gold, I the various stories.  But really, history will make it's own judgment.

Sorry for the length, but that's pretty much it without getting into the full minutae.

Okay, so Iron Age is the one that I knew of but didn't know what was called. My friends who's spare room I rent have the Watchmen issues framed on the wall of my spare room. My bed's right next to them. And now I know what you're talking about. That makes sense and that's actually a time period I like, too, though I haven't read that much of it.

I kind of want to do a roleplay loosely based off of Old Man Logan. Where the

Actually, Bronze Age is the name for the time between Silver Age and Iron Age. Silver Age is considered to have ended sometime around 1970s... Kurt Busiek, for example, points at the death of Gwen Stacy as the moment when Marvel's Silver Age ended. So, early 70s to  early 80s? Bronze Age.

As for the Iron Age, one should look at early comics from Image to see Iron Age at its worst eccesses...  ;) Also, Cable? He's the Iron Age incarnate  ;D

Also, I'd like to point out that Silver Age had different varieties. Marvel's Silver Age and DC's Silver Age were a bit different when it came to the tone of those comics...

Chris Brady

Actually, I'd say Deadpool is Iron Age incarnate.  He's got it all.  Two Katana (cuz one is just so passé), at least two automatic weapons, more pouches than clothing, traumatic background, yet devil may care attitude and is a stone cold killer.  He's everything bad about the Iron Age, worse, people LOVE him for it.

As for Bronze Age...  Well, that's a point in contention, as several fans claims it happened, others claim it didn't, so on and so forth.  I avoid it because frankly, it's such a small time period, really.  And yes, the Silver Age was different depending on which studio, but one thing stayed the same, most topics that we'd consider barely mature was not touched or talked about in comics during that time.

Isn't that kind of the point of Deadpool? He's a pastiche and parody of the Iron Age's defining traits, by taking them to absurd levels. I've never seen anyone who praised Deadpool for his 'grittiness' or 'realism' - people love him because he's an insane fourth-wall breaking goofball who bleeds black comedy.

As for the Ages - my only real guideline is TVTropes, but it describes the 80s-late-90's era as the 'Dark Age', leading into the 'Modern Age', and the 'Iron Age' encompassing both, everything from the 80's to now.

Not just TVTropes, but Grant Morrison calls it the 80\90's the "Dark Age" followed by "The Renaissance" when Hollywood realized there was money to made.

When Deadpool was designed (by Rob Liefeld, who more than deserves the "Iron/Dark Age Incarnate" tag) sure... he was basically a rip-off of Deathstroke over at DC (down to the "in-joke" Wade Wilson name) made even more "xtreme" and gritty. But at that point Deadpool was a minor supporting character who showed little to no personality and was largely "overly badass henchman of the week". It was only really when Fabian Nicieza got a good hold of him, started to give him a personality and used him to mock the rest of the late 80's early 90's grim-dark super badass characters that he started to take off... and it was when Joe Kelly ramped all of that up to 11 that he became popular. Arguably it was only really when Fabian Nicieza got hold of him again for the generally excellent Cable vs Deadpool series (which spent quite a lot of its time ripping apart that late 80's/early90's period and the cliches that came with it) that Deadpool really became super popular.

As for why he's popular? I don't think it's the Iron/Dark Age elements at all... it's how entertaining he is in the hands of a skilled writer with his idiosyncrasies, fourth wall breaking and general humour. Iron/Dark Age heroes generally tried (emphasis on "tried") to be some awesome wicked-cool badass; Deadpool loves Golden Girls and is scared of cows and chickens... if he's cool it's in a deeply ironic way.

This one, which as previously stated is the one I really want to do, so of course no nibbles.

The Lost Princess

She is the battlemistress for her father, the High Cardinal of the Theocracy. Since she was sixteen she has led fleets and men into glorious conquest against the aliens that inhabit the Milky Way Galaxy. The human cluTheocracy spans one-thousand world, but the Church-State body had declared an encompassing moratorium on most advanced technology. The Empire has forgotten more technology than it currently possesses.

In a fight against the bio-engineered monsters of the Varg Collective the Princess's ship was attacked by one of their space-swimming leviathans. A leagues-long centipedial creatures. Her ships, The Coming Dawn was lost and she was sent down to the nearby farm-world of Mesopotamia IV. She was sent with the ships cache of artifacts including an ion-sword destined as a gift of office for the new shadowmaster. The head of the Theocracy's intelligence offices.

Stuck on a backwater world living in a feudal society the Princess becomes something more. Part royal, part holy, part goddess. She possess weapons and technologies that her own subjects haven't seen before. She also acquires a new headache in the form of farm-world farmer who set out one day to find the falling start in the night sky.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

No.  Deadpool is 'funny' because he's crude, crass and pokes fun at the idea of Comic Books.  He's supposed to be a mirror, and he makes mention/mocks some typical tropes in a snide 'knowing nod' kind of way.  Kind of like Joss Whedon, with his constant nods at how much smarter we are than the 'medium' of whatever style of show he's making that year.  Deadpool points out how stupid comics are and how dumb we are for liking them, without pointing a finger.  Letting us laugh at ourselves.

Which, frankly, sucks the entire fun out of reading comics for me.  I don't care that comics are stupid, silly fun.  I like them because they can be excellent story telling tools, morality plays, or just a fun, silly and/or downright stupid story to pass the time with.  Just like a good book, or TV show or Movie.  What I don't need is some writer coming along, thinking that we're all idiots and we need a character to point that out in a 'light hearted way'.  Mark Millar and his Next Wave or his Wanted is more than enough, thank you.

What does that affect with my personal wishing of writing a dark/iron age style 'comic' story on E?  Because any fans of Comics will know that Deadpool comes from that era, and because he's 'funny', his 'image' will infect anything that anyone mentions is Iron Age in style.  I see it happen locally, and I have a hard time seeing that it's just my circle of literal comic book fans, who I've never met passed meeting once or twice in the local comic shop.

The term 'Sissy Girlyboys' might be considered pretty damn offensive. ^^' Especially the 'sissy' part, which has grown into a bit of a slur for transsexual and transgendered men. Might want to possibly hold back on that one.

ImaginedScenes

I have a hard time finding partners who want to create stories that are a little bit more realistic than cliches but aren't lifelike. Wanted to do a zombie setting where a group was holed up in a shelter and had to be on constant alert but worked sexytimes into their watch rotations. Everyone wanted to do something like Resident Evil: The RPG or 28 Days Later: The Documentary. Or if I want to do a flirty office attraction theme, I get a lot of people wanting flowers and dinner dates or quickies in the break room. But what I want is unspoken attraction and secret glances. Then they start dating and have to hide it because of company policy or somesuch.

Didn't know that this forum has a lot of people who are trans. That will definitely make me think twice about what I write here. A fair point to not use those words on the off topic forums. To Kayla's defense a lot of erotic stories online use terms like what she mentioned. I don't read them but the descriptions or previews have common characteristics. Using the terms she did gave me a clear idea of what she was talking about. If she'd said something less likely to offend I might not have understood right away. Makes sense why she said what she said. I agree we all need to remember to be sensitive and kind.

Twisted Crow

While we have differing preferences, we do try to be respectful. Though even for people that have been here for years, I suppose it is very easy to overlook the transgendered or gender-fluid. It's typically why I try to diversify my interactions on here, to remind myself that we have Lords, Ladies and Lieges alike.

The Lab. Its supposed to be a story-line that explore the darker side of humanity and the things people are willing to do and justify it with  'its for the greater good' and involve non humans and humans and all manner of experimentation and focus on the characters and how they react to the situation. I've tried numerous times off site and it always ends up attracting players who seem to think putting a lab coat on means they can stick their dick any where they want.

Maybe just exploring a dystopian society - not even from a sexual standpoint - just the 'realities' of a fully 'ordered' society for those that perhaps live on the margins and how those who do live on the margins interact with the 'powerful'.

Vorian

All in all though I can almost always find something for any one kink or plot element, it's finding a partner matching a broad range of interests that's almost impossible - like if I want to do a fandom RP pairing Naruto (Male except when he feels like being Female) with a group including Haku (androgynous and identifies Male), Hinata (Female, with some complicated politics and family problems that have to be addressed somehow), and Karin (Female, Incest, and not overtly sympathetic to say the least) in a long term plot with crossover elements starting near the beginning of the series (long buildup before anything at all sexual) ... well, there's bound to be a deal breaker in there for most people already and that's without getting into specific kinks yet. A lot of my ideas are, if not quite so complicated, similarly diverse in terms of kinks, gender, and sexuality if not more so. Not that many matches out there even before getting into compatibility of writing styles.

Unfortunately, it seems to scare people off either because the content tends to range in the more extreme categories, or because the male character would require someone who can play a sort of Jekyl and Hyde type. It also tends to require at least some small amount of research, which makes people prone to running away. >.<

Anything World War II in general is a little hard to find, really -- I'm not even interested in anything all that dark or extreme, and I've still always had a hard time finding anyone willing to play the part of a German officer.  (My only success in that line was on another site.)  But my guess is that it's the research.  :/

I've had a crazy craving for something extremely dark and set in WWII Nazi Germany for like... years. Unfortunately, it seems to scare people off either because the content tends to range in the more extreme categories, or because the male character would require someone who can play a sort of Jekyl and Hyde type. It also tends to require at least some small amount of research, which makes people prone to running away. >.<

What an interesting coincidence.  One of my little cravings (but lack of planning and story) was trying my hand at playing a German Officer in charge of Nazi experimentation......but that's really about all I have  >.>;

Most of my cravings tend to be extremely dark themed and most people don't seem to like planning out the darker, non-sexualized themes regarding the human mind and body in post apocalyptic/wartime situations  :<

I wanted to play Gargamel in a Smurfs roleplay once.

I can usually badger a handful of people into indulging my weird whims, but even they draw the line at Gargamel.

Oh! And Maito Gai from Naruto. I guess his personality is a little off putting for romance. >.>

Morrowclaw

A gritty, action packed Pokémon story. It's basically Die hard meets Pokémon with a little Mission Impossible mixed in.
Partly for the hell of it
Solely out of boredom
Mostly for the story

Coincidences abound. I had a craving at one point for a very dark contemporary fantasy set in WWII Germany. I wanted the beginning to start in a concentration camp. No one bit at the story.

I have this odd craving for a weird post apoc involving FNaF and your not run of the mill zombies that look like they walked off the set of Virus

Oh, by SITHIS it is so damn hard to find a Femdom RP! And even more so if you happen to want that Femdom RP to also be a celebrity RP. It's an extremely small niche that is frustrating as hell to get an RP in. XD

Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by that of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion. Therefore it is unnecessary to have all the qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always observe them is injurious, and that to appear to have them is useful; to appear merciful, faithful, humane, religious, upright, and be so, but with a mind so framed that should you require not to be so, you may be able and know how to change to the opposite.

I feel that in my case, it would be easier to ask "What plot *can* you find a partner for?"  ;D

I mean, it took me a looong time to find someone interested in my Stepford Wives stories... and variants of the plot, like "Stepford college students"? I still can't find partners for them. My other mind control plots? Forget it. My dystopian stories? Almost no takers. The one story I have about a young woman forced to live in a strict, Victorian-esque community? It's been years since I first posted it... still, no takers.

Even my vanilla stories don't sell. Neither the story about a princess dating a commoner, or about a nun falling in love...

Hrmf!

How to put this ...

Anything with a character with nonbinary or variable sex and decent plot. Seems to either draw in people just looking for smut or just plain scare people off.  :-\

Xenolord

People to play in my strange, crazy, H-Game inspired RPs. Pretty Soldier Wars? One. Lightning Warrior Raidy? One-ish.

Also people willing to date a Super Villain with a mean-streak a mile long.

Anything that's a weird crossover.

Madoka Magica.

Just… just go to my search page. Pretty much everything there I have a hard time getting. >.<

Twisted Crow

Heh, at this point... I would say I crave a long romantic story about a superhero that drew his strength from his significant other,  and I'd bet my truck that I could not find an available partner for it.

Holidays + My "cheery mood" mang. ::)

I can't really say anything for your mind-control focused stories because I find mind-control to be inherently boring to rp for anything more than a few posts, as an over all theme I wouldn't be able to stick with it for long. That said... your Victorian-esque idea? I'd say part of your trouble finding someone is that you want to play the female. I know plenty of women (myself included) that would be happy to play a female character in that sort of story. I know your seeking thread says you'd be willing to consider playing the male, but no one wants to PM someone asking them to play something other than what they truly want to play, because it makes us feel as if the idea would be less appealing to you and thus you'd be less likely to stick with it.
I want no ordinary lover. I want a storm. I want sleepless nights and endless conversations at four a.m. I want passion, I want madness.
I want someone who's able to make my whole body shiver from a distance and also pull me close to make sense of all my bones.

Well, that's certainly a matter of preference. I love reading about characters being mind-controlled and I love RPing characters in that sort of situations. I wish I had more of that...

In a way it depends on how you define mind control. If you understand it as "a character turns into a living puppet and has their actions completely controlled", then yes, it is boring. If you treat as a sort of introspective story, when a character's thoughts are somehow influenced and changed... now that is interesting.

Oh, there are situations where I would really be happy with playing the men! Currently, I'm trying to find someone I could play with in a story when I'd get to play the mind-controller. Still, no success of yet...

But yeah, in that Victorian-esque story, I'd really like to play the woman. Although, if that story got combined with mind control... hey, I would be be happy RPing the man, too.

Pretty much all my prompts, haha. I'm joking. I've found a few partners, but they tend to either flake out or we just don't sync up well. I like to write a lot around my character changing gender or assuming the identity of the opposite gender, both which I think are tough sells. I get a lot of messages asking me to explain it in detail -- only to have the other party decide it's not for them. Having been a long time role-player and been on other forums, I wouldn't have figured I'd have such trouble on here getting someone that interested in it.

Oh well. I'll just keep trying to be as creative as possible. :)

Yeah, the challenge I've found there is the people into that primarily or exclusively want to be the one changed. Combine that with matching interests in other areas, it's hard to find someone to partner or change the changed character. I'd give it a try but my preferences are almost the exact opposite of yours otherwise ...

Female villains for one thing. I don't need a female to play as a rapist (still like it though), but someone who isn't a damsel either. Could even be an anti-heroine who is redeem later on in the plot.

I seem to overestimate the popularity of erotic graphic novels and the like, since nobody on here seems familiar enough with artists from World of Smudge or Superheroine Central to want to play out scenes from those stories or just using those characters.
