"Cursing both Sun and Moon, Twilight sent her one and only daughter to carry the sins of the world...

Silent shadows fell from the trees onto the haggard trio of wolves backing up near the corner of the great ravine that stretched throughout the middle of the Bojuka Bog. Silent sentinels of rotted trees within the mire. The wind may have been bitter, but it was too weak to so much as coax the trees into a pathetic creaking. The overcast was grim. And it was all the Alpha of the Myr pack could do to consolidate his frightened Alphaess. His eyes were adorned with shame as he exchanged glances with the wounded beta posing his guard between them...and the staggering horde before them...pinning their position near the rocky crags of the ravine within the swamp. A once proud warrior, this beta was near the end of his wits baring gritted fangs in a fruitless attempt to intimidate what he once considered were fellow packmates and friends.

Theme: The Leviathan greets BOP

"What the hell is wrong with all of you!? This is your Alpha! Madness! This is madness!" the Beta cried in anger and desperation, his voice hoarse and shaking under the pressure that the many sets of frenzied eyes set upon him.
"Lavi! Lavi, my daughter what has gotten into you!?" it was the Alpha's turn to speak. "What have we ever done to deserve this? We loved you! For creation's sake, we STILL love our daughter, Lavi! None of this bloodshed could possibly be worth whatever sick prophecy you're trying to fulfill. The lives lost cannot possibly be worth it! Lavi! LAVI!" the Alpha's plea fell on attentive ears. There, basking upon a large, stone slab that once served as the feasting table for the pack's kills...a sweet smiling black fae laid. Her sharp silver eyes eyed the trio with great love and compassion. With such a kind face, her parents could only look on with bewilderment as the Beta observed the exchange in confusion. It was here another haggardly wolf from among the staggering horde spoke.
"They speak lies, my brothers and sisters! The Messiah's parents are misled: their souls corrupted by the flesh that houses them! Their souls struggle and suffer under the burden of their sins!" this wolf spoke at a fervent pace.
"The Messiah, sent from Holy Twilight, defied the Sun and Moon for us! To bring an end to your sinful ways! You would have led the Myr into ruin! " another fae piped up from near the back of the congregation.
"I saw it! Our Alpha would have soiled our very souls by binding them to the flesh that imprisons them! Blasphemy! If it weren't for our beloved Leviathan, OUR SAVIOR; who carries all of our sins...we would have been doomed to suffer for eternity!" another brute preached from amongst the crowd. Lavi's eyes traced from follower to devoted follower as many took a turn to decry their anguish. But eventually, her eyes landed upon the small crowd of pups that settled themselves at the base of her rock. And a small male would take notice and smile back at her before saying "And Twilight said "fear not, slaves of the Sun and Moon, for I am preparing a savior to join and guide you through the mire. And take heart, for unlike your sins, her burden is light. She will prepare a table in the presence of thine enemies...and as the blessed Leviathan...she will smite them. And with them, devour your sins." his recitement earned his glances of admiration and pride from the adults who turned to look back at him. But most of all, a smile of endearment from Lavi, caused his face to flush.

"What evil is this you all speak of?! When had all of your minds succumbed to this-this-poisoned way of thinking!? You've just killed many of your own packmates in cold blood!" the Beta screamed out in saddened anguish.

"Unbelievers."
"Heretics."
"Blasphemers!"
"They were given mercy on behalf of their souls. Killing them was merciful."

Many amongst the congregation murmured such treatises, all before looking up to Lavi with reverence and admiration. And in return, Lavi humbly bowed her head and closed her eyes. Her signal...her permission: Kill them. And it only took but a moment. Despite the Alpha and Beta being proficient combatants, they were easily swarmed by their fervent packmates. The trio were, most "mercifully" , ripped to pieces. Their screams swam like a sweet symphony to Lavi's ears over the triumphant baying of her dearly dedicated followers. And, in mere minutes, they all lined up near the ravine's edge and bowed prostrate as Lavi rose and lifted a paw to request silence. The pups could barely stifle their silence as excited yips and barks echoed in their tiny maws. "Canines of Twilight, peace be unto you." Lavi's velveteen charisma flowed out through her voice like an enticing lullaby. Her followers answered, devotedly, "and peace be also with you." "Lift up your hearts." Lavi's buttery vocals poured over the other wolves like a deeply desired respite. And they answered: "in defiance towards Sun and Moon, we lift them up to Twilight and her one and only daughter who carries the burden of all of our sins. Amen." "It is done!" Lavi rose her voice before enchanting the remaining pack into a celebratory howl; to which every other wolf participated. And once it was done, Lavi continued to speak as she approached the ravine's edge amongst her congregation. "The time for the Great Journey is among us. As promised! In undeath, I will absolve you of all of your sins. In exchange for your faithfullness in the face of liars and decrepid wolf tradition! I unshackle all of you! You are free to join my soul in paradise. For eternity!" Lavi preached with faithful fervor. Many brutes and fae alike began to wipe their tears amongst their neighbor's shoulders. A few whimpered with relief and joy. And it was all the pups could do to share their happiness by crowding around her feet and lapping her shoulders and chest with puppy kisses for praise.

"Please, our Messiah, may the pups go first?"
"Yes, please! Have the pups precede us into paradise!"
"They deserve to be first!"

And so, it only took a few more pleas for Lavi to nod her accent and smile with humble compassion. Her reaction was met with more cheers and howls of joy. And as soon as she turned around to face the gorge at the bottom of the ravine itself...the abomination against the very laws of nature...continued...

On either side of Lavi, the pups of the Myr pack dove off the side of the cliff's edge. Eagerly, willingly, unafraid, and hopeful to be the first to fall into Twilight's merciful embrace. They dove to their deaths as their brainwashed parents cheered them on with pride. And, no sooner after the last pup shattered her bones against the rocky mire bottom, the adults followed suit. They dove with bravado. And they dove with practiced dedication. Eventually, before long, all was quiet. Only the moans of the creaking trees remained in the Bojuka Bog. The Myr were now all but extinct. All, save Lavi...as her sweet smile faded into a neutral expression of cold, unfeeling venom. Her silver eyes dilated ferociously. And her iris' constricted. They resembled a viper's perfectly. She could feel it. Their souls. All of their souls funneling into her own heart...or well...the great black abyss that functioned as her heart. In appreciation, she cracked a sinister smile, brimming from ear to ear. At four years old, the Myr had not been the first. No, not the first, only the most recent.
And thus, she set her eyes to another direction...Kiowa territory...

How many of them, if not all, suffered under the burden of sin? How many, desperately needed a Messiah? A Leviathan who hungered for their burdens?

"Cursing both Sun and Moon, Twilight sent her one and only daughter to carry the sins of the world...

Theme: The Leviathan enters Kiowa Terriotory.

After admiring the aftermath of her spiritual movement, Lavi's smile receeded with satisfaction. Not to be mistaken with contempt. After all, this wasn't enough. No, it was never enough. Like the spiders of the bog, she always required more substanance for her web. Like the adders, pit vipers, and moccaisins she'd always need a greater source of food. Her heart was a black abyss that could never be filled. It was the result of fully giving in to the dark trait at a very young age. She had cannabalized her original self years ago. Unlike some wolves who turned their dark trait on and off as the situation demanded, or some that even fought against their dark trait relentlessly, Lavi fully gave in to hers. It was always activated. It was her second skin. It was her saving grace. It was her blessing to share with the world.

Yes. A blessing. A blessing to cleanse the entire world. Nothing less would satisfy her.

She turned her head to Kiowa, leaving the mound of fresh wolf corpses in the rocky trench behind her. The last of the Myr would leave the Bojuka Bog without a pack for the first time in centeries. And as she walked she closed her eyes to appreciate the feeling of the eyes that were on her. The orb weaver spiders taught her how to spin a web; a binding that held the thoughts and desires of her followers to her. Their hopes and dreams became entangled in the beautiful tapestry that she weaved. The pit viper taught her poise and striking precision: how to hold oneself in the face of opposition and ally alike. Not to bother exhausting oneself over lost causes. It was important to conserve one's strength till the killing blow was needed. And a killing blow only. The nightshade flower and it's delicious scent and poison: beautiful to behold and to cherish to the folly of all who underestimated it. It was a flower that taught Lavi she was beautiful. Not her suitors, not her parents, and not her fellow fae. Her beauty was one of royalty and majesty. And she walked like she knew it. Her swagger was serpent-like, but her chest and chin were held high with regal poise.
One either side, she could feel the trees bowing to her as she walked towards the edge of the bog. The echoes from the voices of her fallen worshipers hung feintly in her ears. They spurned her forward. Kiowa had sinners that needed saving. They needed respite. They needed...poison, yes. They absolutely needed to join their neighbors now rotting in the pit. It would likely take a year or two, mostly depending on whatever their Alpha was like, but rest assured a repeat of what just happened was doomed to reoccur.

Lavi wasn't so much a mad prophet as she was a mental force of nature; a walking inspiration of spiritual madness. Her ways of deceit and lulling dulling of the senses were honed and well practiced. Her intellegence had never failed her. Kiowa would rot. Not out of pity or hatred, no. It was all for her sake. She'd save them all...from themselves. By having them butcher themselves in mass.

Name: Zuya
Rank: Kiowa Alpha
Location: Densite; Alpha's Den ---> The Forest; Bog Area

As soon as Tsuki left Zuya's presence, The Alpha took his leave from the densite. Even with the dwindling numbers of the pack, the surrounding area had become much too cramped for his liking. If anyone were to need him they would have to wait or figure out their issues for themselves for the time being.

The brute wandered into the forest, though not aimlessly. Zuya spent a good portion of the afternoon scent-marking the area. Recent snowfall had begun to cover up the scent of the pack, leaving the pack and himself susceptible to possible intruders and unwanted company. He had purposely ventured further than most of Kiowa's territory, claiming more of the nearby forest as his own. The chilly wind carried many unfamiliar scents, but one in particular grew stronger as he ventured further into territory that was known to have wandering wolves and a small, neighboring pack. It may have been unwise for the alpha to be venturing so far, alone, however, Zuya knew how to pick and choose his fights. He thoroughly trusted himself. His keen intuition had protected him many times before and now would be no different.

Zuya continued tracking the scent until he was able to see exactly who it belonged to. It was a dark-pelted female, presumably a nomad (Lavi). Zuya kept his distance, though he circled the area surrounding her. This was to be sure that he caught no other scents on the wind, no one who may have been accompanying the mysterious female. When Zuya was satisfied with his negative findings, he made his company known to the female by breaking small branches and twigs under her paws as he crept behind her. A twitch of her ears advised him that she had heard him loud and clear. Zuya allowed her the time to react before starting to approach her, slowly. There was an odd aura that radiated off the female. He had felt it long before he spotted her, which was the reason he had been curious enough to seek her out in the first place. He needed to know if this wanderer was actually a wanderer or a threat to the pack. Zuya now stood a few yards from the female, though he made no attempt to speak with her first. Instead, he stood quietly, waiting for her to acknowledge him or leave if she chose to.

"Cursing both Sun and Moon, Twilight sent her one and only daughter to carry the sins of the world...

Theme: A Reprise: Lavi and Zuya.

There was a feint moaning amongst the wind oppressing the trees of the Bojuka Bog. No sooner had Zuya crossed the threshold, would the sweet demure of nightshade flowers grace his nose like the din of becoming sunshine to the very mire his paws dug into. Not even beholden to the beckoning of orb weavers, attentive puff adders, and silky mud did Lavi's welcoming eyes lock with the newcomer with the intensity of all elements mentioned previously.

Silence, save for the wind amongst the creaking wooden slaves that barely held their oppression in check under such pressure.

The snow didn't keep here in the bog. It was as if the mud was all too eager to feast on it; absorb it's life. Zuya had ,more or less, wondered into a very serene slice of Gehenna. And in the wind's aggression, it transferred scents between the two alpha predators. Thus, Lavi found herself quite interested in this brute's portrayal. His smell translated perfectly in tandem with the overcast clouds blotting out the sun above. The thick rumblings of his heartbeat matched with the distant thunder of the storms taking place elsewhere miles away. And his eyes dug, like fanged barbs, into her delicate pelt. They were eyes that familiarized themselves with power and fear. My, my ,my...how she adored such eyes. They were such perfect jade platters...and they told a stone's edge story of an individual willing to bite and scrape through endless bodies to achieve a dream. His fuzzy radars were the largest betrayers to his desires and curiosities; adding an element of tame, social etiquette experience when harshly compared to his battle-hardened exterior.
And then came his scent of aged pine and cedar mixed with crisp river-water. Trademark Kiowa fare.

Wolves often said there was a moment of sublime understanding when two alphas locked glances such as this...and to a point this was true.

Lavi said nothing. Zuya said nothing. But when his sheer green forced of nature locked with her black voids of galactic emptiness; he faced the threat of being sucked in. However, her gaze was gentle...like the warm invite a cozy bed gave to a weary traveler. Her posture and surplus definition of curves and practiced poise was nothing short of esteemed royalty. Her seated position judged him favorably, it seemed. Her lips smiled at him as would a mother's greeting her son home from war. She could only picture the sins writhing on this alpha's back.
However, for what must have been fifteen minutes of intense gaze, signal-interpretation, and critical observation with context clues (all after Zuya had encircled her from a respective distance in the first place) Lavi decided to make the first move when her visual inquiry had completed itself. She took a visible moment to close her eyes to break the lock and lay back her ears as she took a deep breath and puff her chest out before expelling her breath and opening her eyes again.

" Please, feel free to speak, Kiowa. The Myr Alphaess of the Bojuka Bog greet their long-founded neighbors with good tidings." :practiced, clear, concise, and well-recited long since the deaths of the pack that preceeded her.

Zuya remained standing where he was, allowing the female her space. It seemed she was relaxed even with his presence. She did not rush to be on alert, instead she met him with the same calmness that he had greeted her with. Either she was foolish or very confident in herself. Zuya assumed it was the latter, considering her posture and poise. Everything about this female radiated power and authority. He did not trust her. Then again, he didn't trust any one. But this fae, in this moment, was the highest on that list.

It took some time, but the fae finally broke the gaze first. Zuya's head pulled up a few inches higher as he took this as a silent victory. As she spoke of being an Alphaess, Zuya's right ear twitched with interest. He remained quiet for a much longer time, he took no pleasure in formalities. The alpha moved forward now, closing the distance between the two even further. He circled her once more, eying her frame and sizing her up. When Zuya was satisfied, he sat across from her. “Where is your pack?” Zuya said. His voice was a low, deep rumble carrying on the wind. His emerald orbs locked onto hers once more, keeping himself held with the same statue of authority as before. He gestured his head toward the direction of where the Myr Pack should have been. “Why would they allow their beloved alphaess to travel alone?” His eyes narrowed at her with a mistrusting gaze.

Lavi's reassuring smile held Zuya in attendance, taking another breath of him as he traipsed by...a woodland-river fish encircled the great Leviathan in complete oblivion to the sheer difference in size or power. Yet, she relished those eyes he cut into her with. Eyes so hellbent on making something of their owner. So desperate to achieve a dream.
She allowed him closer. Closer to her poison within parameters of pure contention. He had good reason to practice caution.

The wind began to pick up; and Lavi became confident that she could hear the forlorn cries of her suffering packmates in the past. Their cursed ghosts.

"Yet, here you are, without no need of others. I require no escort, brute, but I suspect you already know why. Our kind go where we please. However, to answer your previous question...I am the Myr...all that remains. The rest now sing for me on The Great Journey that follows breaking free of the mortal coil." Lavi's diction progressed like maple syrup eking down a tree trunk to greet the earth. And no matter how much her eyes enjoyed cradling his; she couldn't help but smell his suspicion. It announced his level of intellect. That even thought she was a mere fae in comparison to his brutish bulk; he still practiced caution.
Good.

" Therefore, why do you take confidence in traveling alone? What name do your faithful call you, when you bid them speak?" she repayed his questions with two of her own. Introductions were in order.

“They are.. singing to you? Zuya snorted, it was a loud, offensive sound. Though he did not fully understand what she meant by those words, he did comprehend that she was the last of the Myr, which was news to himself.  His eyes narrowed. His flared nostrils drew in the air around them, garnering her scent to his memory. As the fae questioned him, his lip curled upward, exposing his teeth in warning. I ask the questions, you're on my territory, seeing as how Myr is no more.” If she was smart, surely that was enough to answer her question of his title as an Alpha. Not many other wolves who lacked any great title would be so bold as to hold such a powerful stance to a newcomer, especially one who smelled and claimed to be of the Myr, on what was supposed to be their land. Zuya's eyes narrowed at her. However, just like that, this land was now claimed as Kiowa's as far as he was concerned. The entire reason he had traveled so far was for the sole purpose of claiming more land for Kiowa. They had had enough death in the past few months, partly because wandering wolves were able to get close to Kiowa without them being able to detect it early on. His strategy was to keep as much land claimed as possible, to keep outsiders from wandering too close to the densite.

Surely this fae had caught him circling the area and leaving his own scent. The wind, which had picked up, had sent invisible swirls of his scent all over by now and it cocooned them both. “If the rest of your beloved pack is dead, why should I let you live, last fae of Myr?” He questioned. “Why is it that you're the sole survivor?” He added pointedly. Zuya's tail raised, asserting dominance over this fae now, no longer cautious. Instead, he was allowing his alpha tendencies to begin to show through with vigor. He began to challenge her, baring his fangs at her once more, a low growl now beginning to emit itself from his chest. He had not verbally answered any of her questions and as far as he was concerned, he did not need to. An alpha answering to an outsider was absurd, in his eyes.

"Indeed." Lavi answered matter-of-factly. Her eyes took a moment to trace along his shoulder blades and down his back ridge. And with his emboldened posturing, his lack of tact began to reveal itself. Thus, she kept her poise firm till his teeth were bared. His confidence was more than she could have asked for; and the eking signs of a temper reared itself from the fog of suspicion in the brute's head. Naturally, as a sign of good favor, Lavi exchanged her upright position for a more submissive one laying upon her stomach. She knew what to do; in case this feisty little fish needed to see the Leviathan's belly.
After all, to win one over as a good neighbor, Lavi was more than willing to please to encourage eventual complacency.

Myr territory, clearly, was no more. "It is as you say. The Bojuka Bog welcomes any with the courage to claim it...to bring it to heel." Lavi's smile remained welcoming, and was more than supporting of the brute's affirmations. Allowing his new savior to live. Adorable. "I still draw breath because you allow it. What better way to show you are in control, Alpha?" her honeyed words radiated with severe saturation. "I survived because that is who I am. I am a survivor. I know this land like I am positive you know yours. In fact, I even know of the pack that shares our eastern border up in the mountains. In addition to the rolling plains pack deep to the south of here. I have so much to offer; you merely need but ask, Kiowa." Lavi's final statement accompanied a slow nod; her eyes once again gluing to his.

The Mry fae's swift act of submission was enough to calm the rattling nerves of the Kiowa alpha. Zuya's lips matched her movements, lowering over his sharp teeth. His growling subsided almost immediately once she was fully onto the muddy sheet beneath their paws. The white brute's chest lifted with a victorious puff. He did not need to waste time physically putting the female into her place, she openly and keenly understood the circumstances as she referred to him by his correct title; Alpha. Zuya stepped a mere few paces away, allowing her space, should she choose to recover herself and what little dignity she had left. There was no need to continue such a threatening posture, for him to continue towering over her frame would be overkill. It was understood that he was allowing her to live, somewhat, peacefully. “Alpha Zuya, of Kiowa.” He stated, finally deciding that she was worthy enough to know the name of Kiowa's alpha.

The alpha mulled over the words the fae. She spoke of being a survivor. To him, she could be an asset and he suspected she knew that as well. It would have been the only reason she offered that sort of information. That could only mean that she was looking for acceptance into the pack, or so he thought. “Are you seeking out acceptance into Kiowa?” He attempted confirmed his suspicions. Zuya's tailed swayed with the wind, lowering as it did so. “Unless you are more comfortable being unprotected out in this bog, alone.” Zuya pulled himself back onto his haunches, seemingly at ease, though he kept his eyes fixated on her in case she tried any sudden movements. He would be ready for a sudden attack by the fae. His ears were the only indication of him also being quite aware of the area surrounding them. Zuya, being a paranoid brute, was always one to keep his guard up, even if he looked to be casually resting. It would be no different with this outsider.

“What can you tell me of the plague of these lands?” Zuya wondered if she had known about the dark trait, or was it simply the curse that ran through Kiowa's pack and their territory. He wondered if other packs were plagued by such a trait or was it truly a uniqueness to certain wolves of Kiowa. Maybe other wolves of other packs referred to it as something different. “And what of these other packs? What is it that you do know?”

"Cursing both Sun and Moon, Twilight sent her one and only daughter to carry the sins of the world...

Upon the release of his name to the stagnating air of the bog, Zuya took the next dive deeper into darker, more murky waters. With a name and a scent, he had established familiarity. Meaning, to a connect, and regardless of what little value the brute held to such matters...it was all she needed to start working. The breeze suddenly resumed. The gentle, harrowing moans of the bog beckoned their warning on deaf ears. And as the muck greeted its queen with reverence, said queen had her smile shift from welcome to appreciation. "Zuya-, oh, what a handsome name. A moniker that perfectly suits you. I am called Lavi, former alpheass to The Myr of the Bojuka Bog. A pleasure to make your acquaintance." her tail began to flit back and forth with genteel sways.
"Yet, rest assured, my desired admittance into Kiowa is not for protection. I tell you truly, I can take care of myself. I seek companionship in community. A wolf without a pack is a very grim way to exist. Being a survivor is a boon for its own sake, however, merely surviving is not truly living. We are social animals for a reason, dear alpha." The flicker of intelligence was dangerous in her eyes. And one paw crossed the other as-matter-of-factly. "As for plagues...the bog is no stranger to such disasters. However, rest assured, the danger has passed. I wouldn't be here before you, if it were still a danger. We'd all be dead. For the Myr's calamity, I do not speak of illness, handsome alpha. I speak of change. A change introducing itself in a generational fashion across all packs...you know of what I speak." Lavi's serene expression became a gentle one of warning; much like a mother warning her pup not to wonder too far.

Theme: Lavi recounts of the other packs.

Thus, with Zuya's abeyance, Lavi slowly rose to her feet and stood alongside him. She'd gesture for him to follow her along the borderline between both pack territories. Literally, walking the line. "Walk with me, if you please. The small puzzle piece I have to add to the story involves more than Myr and Kiowa." Lavi's pace and sway of the hips were regal and well-practiced in nature; like a model on a runway. The grace was uncanny, and her steps made barely a sound...as if masked by the wind. "What stance has your pack taken on the dark trait, Alpha Zuya?I tell you truly, it seems in my travels, each pack has chosen differently. And all suffered miserably as a result...
To the northern borders that our packs once shared are the World Spine Mountain ranges; nigh endless chains of snowy titans lined with pine trees and saffron herbs. There are surely none of their likeness in the whole world. They tower over most clouds. And they test the metal of every living creature that chooses to call them home. This...is the home of our northern worl fpack neighbors, The Yannicherries.
" Lavi began.

Meanwhile, back at his den, Mute would suddenly sneeze before looking to the sky with a worrisome expression.

"White and cream wolves, all short and stout in physical build, extra thick coats, and extremely gifted jumpers. The Yannicherries were the first foreign wolf pack I'd ever met. I was very young then, barely an adult. The previous alpha, my father, had me betrothed to their beta since six months old. He too, was a very handsome warrior. However, my arrival came at a very inopportune time. The winter was very bitter that year. And the discussion upon how to handle the dark trait had come to a boiling point. The Yannicherries devout spiritual reverence to the sun steeped their traditionalism in direct opposition to the aggression that  developed in the dark trait. Only...already, half the pack were showing such signs. Then one day, the Alpha settled upon a solution: a purge. Not even exhile, but death. Upon the decree, my would-be mate led me out of the territory with the promise he'd find me someday, hehe, rather silly now I think back on it. Presumably, all of them perished. Indeed, if any survived at all, its doubtless any remained more maddened than beasts. However, that is all the hear-say I can offer. No wolf has ever been seen since in those bloodstained mountains. Least, not from the Myr-side.

As for our southern border, that lands yields a different story. The plains wolf pack. Large open meadows, shires, and prairies that stretch all the way to the great ocean itself. Rolling gnolls filled with sparse oak trees, a plethora of wild flowers, and countless small game. This was once home to The Fasubaba. Tawny brown and copper wolves; lean and lengthy in stature, long-legged, long-tailed, and pointy snouts. Once again, in an effort to establish alliances and connections, I was promised to a prominent Zulu wolf among their pack...sadly, a face I'd never see...in fact, I only met one wolf from that pack in physicality...the rest I saw dying from afar. This nameless omega informed me at length that their tribe had decided to exile all of their dark trait born the previous year. It cut their tribe by a third. However, those dark trait wolves found a new home with a new pack even further south...ones who took notice of their obvious sudden advantage. The exiled wolves returned at the end of said year with their new family in force...and before returning to fight in that losing battle, the omega told me that they were due to pay the price for severing their family as they did. I returned home shortly thereafter, knowing that two wolf packs were now no more. Purge...exile...and then, my pack had it's turn. My father chose...
" Lavi gave pause, experiencing the sudden flashback of her willing saints tearing her parents to pieces with her permission. In fact, she neglected to mention key points of both stories on purpose.

How she accepted her dark trait as a blessing upon adulthood.
How she manipulated, fanned the flames, and spurned the dark trait wolves among The Yannicherries to fight and kill their own brothers and sisters.
How, before her meeting with the omega, she poisoned their fresh water supply after seeing foreign invading wolves making their way to The Fasubaba territory a day ahead of time...setting a weakening illness among them, before the invaders came to steal their home...and their lives away. She poisoned their watering pools with nightshade flowers.

"My father chose poorly...in fact, he chose to do nothing at all. He deliberated that the dark trait was a natural course in genetics that would likely fade away with maturity and genetics. He was wrong. I returned from patrol yesterday to find that all had perished. From what means or cause...I cannot say. If any did survive, surely, they must've fled. " Lavi's twisted history lesson finally came to an end, however her well-rehearsed facial expression to match the grim tale did not.

Flattery was always one way to get on Zuya’s good side. He enjoyed having his ego stroked and this obsidian doll executed the action flawlessly. It was almost too perfect. Zuya felt it wise to use discernment in his interactions with her moving forward, despite the fae’s coolness and welcoming demeanor. Whether it be his constant paranoia or an honest hunch, the alpha would keep this one close as one would do an enemy. Her knowledge of the lands around them prompted more a curiosity toward her than any of the rest of the packs. As she spoke, Zuya remained in his spot, giving her his full, undivided attention. Still, his ears would perk in various directions as a twig would snap in the distance due to a wandering hare or the wind rustling distance tree leaves.

“Seems to me where you go, death follows,” Zuya responded coolly, once she was completely finished with her explanation. “How interesting that you've alluded death even when it was all around you.”

Zuya turned his head from her, tilting upward toward in the air. He was quiet for a long moment, deep in thought. There was a wolf pack Lavi mentioned and the description of the wolves reminded him of one specific wolf within his very own ranks; The one who everyone called Mute. He wondered if the white wolf knew anything the northern wolves, the Yancherries. He had half a mind to confirm this fae's words with him, once he was back into the densite. Alas, Mute was.. a mute and he wasn't entirely sure if the gentle beast trusted him. Even if he could talk, maybe he would lie to save his hide for some reason unknown to Zuya.

“The dark trait is welcomed openly within Kiowa,” Zuya stated in response to how her father approached the dark traits within her own pack. “You seem calm given the new knowledge of the fate your father and your pack suffered. Do you not care?” He asked, in the same cool tone, turning his gaze to her once more.

"Cursing both Sun and Moon, Twilight sent her one and only daughter to carry the sins of the world...

Upon Zuya's presumption, all Lavi could manage was a cheerful laugh as she closed her eyes and brought up a paw to cover her maw.
"You believe I herald death, handsome Alpha? Far from it. I assure you, I hold no such power among the fates. Especially no more than any ability to elude any end to mortality." Lavi expressed with a faux-bashful expression. She'd continue further by shaking her head dismissively.
"As previously stated, I am a survivor. But my life too shall end when death decides it is my time. Not before. Not after." Her charming gaze fell over her conversation companion with a mystique sense of demur. "Therefore, do not mistake my visage for loss. My pack may be all but gone, but I know why not to cry for them. Just as I know howling for the dead wont accomplish anything. I say this with the feeling you understand...you'd dare not ask your pack to dishevel themselves for you if you had died.
...Alphas...we live for a reason. I move forward. Tears do nothing for rotting flesh and bones. For those who have put their faith in me...
" and it was here that Lavi took a moment to pause; staring Zuya square in the eye. And her eyes would dialate before tightening, constricting, akin to that of a pit viper.
"I continue to proliferate." and no sooner had the words left her honeyed lips, had the wind suddenly died. Nothing stirred. No other animal moved, save Lavi who took an elegantly seated position as she drew her head back in poise. Thus, her eyes returned to normal: silvered and smiling.
...more silence...
"Zuya...here is my offer: my request to join Kiowa. You are strong. But can you say the same for every member in your pack? The threats that face the Yannicherries and the Fasubaba will eventually make their way to your home. My own Myr were spared...however, not in a way any leader would prefer. If I am to join you, as a survivor, we must prepare. I don't feel I'll be overextending in my guess that we know little of what currently goes on in the territories that surround ours. I will willingly step down as an Alphaess. If anything...Kiowa must survive whatever could be coming down from the northern mountains...or snaking up from the southern plains. We have no choice but to be ready when it comes time to defend or expand if we can.
So...what do you say? Alpha, who accepts those with the dark trait.
" Lavi explained in a serious tone, as one would discuss politics at the round table.

JUNO
Rank: Hunter
Location: The Forest, Kiowa pack territory
Company: Machamoti-Chi, Relic

Juno couldn't help the small, barely noticeable smile that stretched across her thin lips at Relic's excitement for the hunt. It reminded her of her own internal joy at the thought of it. She never had much of a pup-hood, she didn't have a chance to be young, dumb, and careless. No one to train under or bounce ideas off of. She attributes a lot of her personality to that fact. If she didn't know something or do it correctly, she didn't eat. There were more hungry nights than she would like to admit before being accepted into Kiowa.

She knew Relic could easily squeeze through the chute that the tree trunk had created but she was curious as to what Machamoti would do. She shook her head at his solution. Of course, he would simply go around. Juno kept her eyes forward as to not let a hint of a chuckle escape at the giant. She had recovered when a leaf found its way onto her nose and suddenly Machamoti was there close to her face, giving a big huff and a puff and blowing the leaf off her muzzle. If wolves could blush, Juno's face would be a bright crimson shade. Her amber eyes widened as she stared at him for a moment before looking down to the ground, and pawing at her nose in an attempt to feign an itch from the leaf. Things like this didn't happen to her. She was careful, precise, and ever-aware of her surroundings. Getting caught off-guard was a foreign feeling.

She looked back up to the group when Relic spoke. Thank the heavens. Her expression has assumed its more common state and only the small shift of her eyes towards Machamoti, then back to Relic, was clue that a storm of confusion and embarrassment had just raged in her mind. She stammered for only a moment before answering the tracker, "...I-I think the river would be a fine start. If there are prints, we'll go from there. If there aren't, we'll only have a short walk before we're back in the right place to sniff them out." Juno answered with a short nod to her and another side glance at Machamoti. He flustered her, for some strange reason that she couldn't quite place. "Good thinking, Relic." She added, trying to encourage the slightly less experienced wolf.

Juno took the lead again and this time turned her direction to the river, her nostrils flaring as she started testing the air. "And thank you, Machamoti-Chi." She finally said, all the while keeping her head forward. She enjoyed this weather; the cool air wisping gently through her fur coupled with the sun shining enough to warm everything and cause small bits of snow to drip off of the trees. It was a peaceful time. They would be nearing the river soon enough.

ooc: it's like it never happened. It was here all along xD

Relic grinned broadly, having heard Machamti call out to her. She paused, turning slightly to watch the large brute, admittedly hoping to see just how clumsy a warrior could be and was fully prepared to tease. While her smile never left, she did shake her head disappointedly. “Anyone can walk around. It takes special evasive maneuvers to go underneath and impressive jumping skills to stealthily jump over. That was just lazy.” She prodded, though really it wasn’t that bad of an idea. She thought about adding on, but his interaction with Juno made her bite back a snicker. It would not make the poor she wolf feel any better. At the same time, it was interesting to see the usually stoic wolf a little flustered.

The young tracker perked up at the praise from Juno, happy her thoughts were acknowledged and her actions encouraged. It made her happy that Juno seemed to believe in her, not that she has ever shown that she didn’t believe in her. She tried to rein in her excitement, but that didn’t completely hide it. She had a pep to a her step as she tried her best to focus on the task at hand. “Okay then, let’s head to the river!” She said exuberantly. “Make sure you don’t fall behind, Machamoti.” She teased once again before taking a quick but quiet pace through the forest.

While she was certainly bubbly, when working she was quiet with elegant and grace that was becoming or her. Relic wasted no time at the river, quickly putting her nose down to the river’s edge and looked for prints. She glanced when the others trailed in after her, but she mainly focused searching. Her keen eyes pick up slight pressure around the edges, something had been through here. She blew air through her nostrils, powdering snow moving like dust around her nose as she breathed in deeply. “It’s faint, but one has been through here. It leads deeper into the forest,” She said with an apologetic expression. “But, at least we have a scent to follow!” She took a moment to step aside and grab some water before they headed back into the forest. It wasn’t too long of a way from the forest to the river, but she’d yet to have her daily intake of water. She was careful not to overdo it though, she didn’t want to feel waterlogged while hunting.

"Lay-zee!?" Machamoti-Chi would echo with playful disbelief, giving a small snort before raising his nose to the air in an uppity manner with his eyes closed. "I'll 'ave the both uh y'as know...that I made no wasted e'ffort. Wut-wiff-the two uh y'as showin' off like spring-born pups." he'd bring his nose back down and smile at Relic; knowing she was the youngest in the bunch. "Pfft, lay-zee. I'm experienced 'nuff to know not tuh waste effert." his tall-tales retort finished, he'd turn his head just in time to see the other tracker roll their eyes at him.
However, he would become distracted once Juno thanked him? Odd. She had never thanked him before; especially for doing something she could've done herself. It was sweet though. She was usually all-business...much like him, actually. Maybe their youthful tracker was softening her up? Meh, too soon to tell. Yet, it didn't stop him from smiling at her.

Least till Relic took another jab at him. "Falling behind." How many nerves was she aiming for today? True, he was the eldest here, but he wasn't anywhere close to retirement. "Whatcha take me fer, tenderfoot? If we weren't on the job, I'd hafta learn ya a thing or two about pacing." Macha called from his rear-guard position. "The only t'ing fallin' t'day, is some tasty pork chops, mind you." The Sunhome Sentinel would confirm with the group before doubling back to give the forward group more space. A cool drink from the crick reminded him how thick the woodlands were up ahead. He still stuck out too much. So, as to not tip off the prey, he was certain to keep his distance till the others were good n' ready. He knew his role; this wasn't his first rodeo. Zuya shrugged his shoulders toward Lavi. “Most others mourn their loved ones. They may deal with their grief as they so choose. As you said, we are social creatures, it is not so strange for one to feel deeply for those around them.. even an alpha. In truth, Lavi was absolutely correct, but she did not need to know that he wholeheartedly agreed with her. Not yet anyway. Zuya hadn't taken much thought to wonder if the pack would grieve him. It wouldn't matter if he was once again called home to the Earth Mother. His legacy and his lineage would live on, one way or another, and that was the key. As long as those duties were fulfilled while he was alive, little else mattered.

Zuya had taken a mental note of her mention of reproducing. This fae was utterly perfect. It made him uncomfortable, though he made no gesture to show it. Instead, he remained quiet as she spoke her proposal. Her tone irritated him. Her coyness, yet venom-like tongue made the skin beneath his fur crawl. She radiated poweress. Even the air around her became alluring when she so chose. She was dangerous. He had decided, he didn't like her. Though, she was knowledgeable and she would be of use to him.

His curious eyes suddenly shifted to one of a more bored expression. Or was it.. annoyance? “Kiowa will survive,” Zuya corrected her as she finished her take. “You will step down as an alpha. You are nothing more than an outsider until I deem you worthy of the title pack member.” Zuya stood now, lifting his head higher than hers; another dominance display. “Your ideas will be welcome but you will watch your tongue when addressing me. I am Alpha Zuya, at all times. Do not overstep your boundaries, myr.” After laying down basic ground rules, he continued. “Let's go, I'm tired of this place. It reeks of you.” His mood had completely shifted, she'd rubbed him wrong and she would know it. He would keep a close eye on her, or assign someone the task of doing so. One of his trackers, perhaps. Zuya turned on his haunches and began through the forest. “We have a long trek back, I hope you're rested.”

Upon arriving at the river, Juno watched Relic work, her nose glued to the ground as she scoured the earth for a scent. Juno couldn't help but lower her own head, exhaling a huff of air from her nostrils to stir the scents before deeply breathing in the world around her. Just as she was analyzing and differentiating between all the smells, Relic's words broke her thought process. She was skilled and Juno was impressed with how quickly she picked it up. The young tracker was promising, for sure. The two wolves' conversation was of no interest to her. Too much talking, and about what? Nothing. If they wanted to talk about nothing, then all power to them, but they shouldn't expect her to participate. Despite her being a bit more talkative today.

"Okay, good," Juno replied, swinging her gaze around back to the forest. It seemed luck was on their side today. She sighed and moved over to the water, dipping her head down to grab a drink for herself. After she had quenched her thirst, she turned to the others. Machamoti had moved away from the group, what with his giant form and white pelt, that was probably the best idea. Juno gave him a quick nod and turned once again to Relic, gesturing for her to take the lead.

"Care to lead us?" Juno offered, a small hint of a smile tugging at her lips once more. She liked Relic. They had a few hunts together and she seemed almost like a younger sister to the quiet she-wolf. She hoped she could be a teacher, a mentor, and a friend.

Hardly a brief moment passed before Lavi resumed her standing position and followed Zuya with a sweet smile on her face. "Indeed. Alpha Zuya. It will be as you say." she stated in lady-like agreement; allowing the compliment of her scent matching the bog to run down her sheened pelt. What a handsome little warlord he was. Bold and foolhardy. Determined and straightforward. Zealous and shrewd. A little brash morsel...in a grave, dark, unforgiving ocean. A rookie to the game of gods and mortal creatures. His simplicity-no-his dedication to the traditional path of what it meant to be a strict pack leader...worldly and awash with predatory focus...brought her empty vortex of a soul a stirring of glee. In a sense, he was like a shiny new toy; a new toy that came with a complete set of accompanying nourishment in his pack. Oh what wonders.
What expectation.
What possible revelries to be her own.
What...newfound additions to add to her soul...all to crush the moon and the sun!

Kiowa was facing its final days as canines. Depleting years as wolves. Aye, mortal animals had no place in her upcoming world. The leviathan craved more than such meager existence. Yet, as long as Zuya was willing to provide that tender new world to her; she wouldn't complain. She knew what to do. She knew...Kiowa, rife with ignorant illness, needed a savior. A messiah to bring twilight to their hearts and minds. It would be...her unparralelled pleasure to do so.

Spring would soon be upon the lands. As the night fell upon Kiowa, more creatures began to make an appearance. A large bear roamed in the forest near the pack's densite, in search of food. Luckily for him, the night was moonless, making his dark fur easy to miss to the untrained eye, even with the light blanket of snow against him. He had picked up the scent of nearby wolves, and was currently making a wide circle around them, hoping to avoid them as he carried out his search. Occasionally, he caught the scent of herbs and began following it.

The pair began their trek back. Zuya kept an even, leisurely pace back toward Kiowa lands. It was obvious that he was in no rush to get back to the safety and the comfort of the others. His white ears would twitch and move, picking up the sounds of the forest as they made their way back home. Silence fell upon them often, even as Lavi would try to strike up a conversation. He would always take long pauses in between his answers, as if he was thinking hard about what he wanted to say next. He was being careful of her, but also of their surroundings. It wasn't until the scent of Kiowa wolves filled his nose that he started to relax more. It was well into the night by the time the pair had journeyed back onto Kiowa lands. Though even with the nightfall, he became more calm by just knowing he wasn't too far from his home. “We should stop by the river for a drink of water.” He said suddenly, breaking more of the silence that fell upon them. “Are you thirsty?” He was thinking of heading to the river before heading back to the densite. This was the first indication at all that he cared even remotely of the fae's well being. Still, if she was going to be a part of the pack, he'd might as well make sure she wasn't about to die of thirst after their journey and spending time alone after her pack had been wiped out. This made him wonder if she was hungry as well. Hopefully someone at the pack had started a hunt, though he couldn't be quite sure. Not many wolves seemed to step up and take the initiative unless he told them to do so. “We should hunt as well.” He told her calmly.

The Messiah's ebony cloak married the various shades of evening night closer than most animals would likely have expected.
Black like ichor. Black like mold. Black like the mamba's mouth of the bog.
...
In fact, aside from her phalanx-thrust mirrors devoid of soul, the only other element that differed her from absolute invisibility was the texture of her pelt. The night was a grandstanding ocean that enveloped all. However, her pelt held a sense of individuality akin to one area of a painting that had a different manner of brush strokes. If the murky space around the two wolves had been swathed up and down. It could be said Lavi had been painted right to left. Zuya may as well have been in the presence of a gaunt. Albeit, realistically, something so much worse than a Wendigo or skin-walker. Her pearly whites glistened so sweetly at the offer of Kiowa's life-blood. Her appreciation shown, she inspected the water as a duke beheld a rare wine: taking in it's aroma before sampling a few laps. As expected, it was very sweet, and held elements of more minerals carried down from the ice melt in the mountains than the bitters that trademarked the bog.
"How very kind of you...your water is quite pleasant." Lavi answered politely, gazing at him once more with that maternal, loving expression as a mother would her progeny. Supportive as a tree with such twisted roots.

However, the suggestion to hunt brought a fickle giggle to her maw. Hence, the requirement to raise a paw to her mouth. "Ah. Please forgive the outburst. It was just so sudden. Here I was certain in estimation you preferred to enjoy hunting with a full ensemble. Are you the type to enjoy solo hunting as well? I'll go on a limb and strike off the assumption you were just making an effort to show off~" her fully breathed voice would praise.

Zuya allowed Lavi to quench her thirst first. It wasn't necessary but he did take the time to watch their surroundings, allowing her to completely relax and enjoy her drink from the river. The twinge of paranoia was omnipresent and rarely allowed his mind any real rest. Unfortunately for him, the one fae who allowed him even a sliver of peace also taxed him in other ways. His removal of her from the pack was both a blessing and a curse. The only one he trusted was dead and now he, once again, needed to work twice as hard to be on his guard and to keep his more troubling thoughts at bay. Emerald irises only peered at the dark female as she complimented him. His ears perked in her direction before pinning lightly against his head as she began to laugh. His eyes narrowed.

He was sure he hadn't said anything funny, so what exactly was so amusing?

She apologized for her sudden bit of laughter, Zuya's ears perked once more. “I'm not showing off for anyone, especially the likes of you, outsider.” He wrinkled his muzzle in annoyance before turning away from her and beginning to take his own drink.

As the water slid down his throat with each lap, Zuya eyes continued to scan the area in his immediate line of sight. He'd stop after a few laps, lifting his head to look around, giving his cold tongue and throat a break before repeating the same motion a few more times. Once he had had his fill, he brushed past Lavi. “If you aren't hungry, then let's go.” Hunting was natural and wasn't particularly a laughing matter to him. An alpha had offered to do hunting for her and she so imprudently laughed in his face for his kind gesture. She'd starve before he decided to feed her himself... perhaps, unless she found a way to grovel and beg his forgiveness. He doubted such a callous fae would do so willingly and he cared little to make her do so at the moment. He'd hunt for himself and eat it all, himself, while she watched.

“You're lucky to have found me. The pack will be leaving these lands soon.” He told her calmly. He wondered if she would press the matter, but being an alpha herself, surely he knew his reasoning for deciding to move the pack soon.

Her smiling, silver windows never left the white cuss as he drank...

Hell, Lavi never bothered to blink for fear of missing even an ounce of his furrowed brow and wary shifting eyes. It was all too reassuring to ignore.
...
...
Zuya's ghosts. F***ingdelicious. An alpha at peak physical prowess. Easily, a powerhouse among the alpha wolves on their continent. He brimmed with combat experience, practiced form, and and the tenacity of famine. Yet...there was clearly a chink in his armor. No, not that she would deny she had everything going for her. An upcoming god was not a "God." As messiah, she merely had a role to play, after all. Twilight would too demand her demise in the end. But where did that leave her comparison to him? In reality...likely...no. The facets were not compatible. It couldn't be done in good faith. Why compare the leviathan to the other fish in the sea? Pity.
Lavi finally blinked. A blink fused with a bashful smile as her conversation partner bluntly stated he had no desire to show off. Bait taken. Some part of her was immediately suspected of taking residence in his thoughts. Her hubris, of course, at play. She wasn't hungry. At least, not till he laid bait of his own. Leaving? A migration? This early in the season before the herds of prey began moving through the woods for good hunting? Lavi was authentically astonished. The weakened trait of the nearly-extinct Myr pack raised its head, despite her distaste: their largely isolationist ideology. They'd never bothered to keep tabs on Kiowa before, save strict border-territory understanding. In fact, if her sire never thought to marry her off, she never would have reached enlightenment.
"Territory transition? Then lucky I am. If I'm not mistaken, Kiowa hasn't migrated for generations. In fact, even the eldest Myr couldn't recall a time when we were not neighbors. You have my curiosity and interest in attendance. Alpha Zuya, what occurred to influence such a decision? Will you tell me?" Lavi's maternal demeanor softened to the point of a youthful scholar. A tone worthy of nectar. Her eyes alight with an investigative twinkle.

However, some figure in the back of her mind was calling "bull***t." Why tell an outsider this?

The young wolf rolled her eyes snorted, trotting up with a spring in her step to square up as best her smaller form could. "Sure you could, if you could catch me!" There was no doubt he could overpower her in a spar, she'd just have to be faster than wolves like him. It's what she'd been trained to do by her own mother. At the mention of their food, she eagerly was back on track, "Yes, that sounds amazing." She’d agree before continuing.

After their interaction, Relic would beam under the gaze of Juno. “Of course!”Her tail wagged from the gesture, happy for the older female's reaction. She was doing a good job! She peeked around some brush and took note that the bigger wolf had fallen back. At first, she wondered if he couldn't keep up, but as she quietly followed the trail, she realized that it was the best place for him to be until needed.

The sun had long gone down as she leads them deeper into the forest. She felt the frost of the night penetrating her pelt, but not enough to cause her too much discomfort. Though, Relic would be lying if she said she wasn't looking forward to returning home to her mother's warm embrace. She took a sharp turn once and carefully moved through the damp forest floor. While it made for slippery terrain, it was ultimately much quieter than having crispy fall leaves that might alarm the animal. It was getting late, the time that wild boar were most active. She would have to be careful.

Nightfall was on her side, though, and she was able to hunker down into the foliage as they got closer. There wasn't a moon in the sky, perfect for ambushing prey. When it was in their sight, she hunkered into a laying position that was easy to gracefully spring from. Silently, Relic looked over her shoulder to peer at Juno for direction. This was her time to shine.

"No matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it...

The moon mother's blanket of evening descended on the trio like a gardener's eves. The petals laid no pressure upon the skin. No ruffle upon the pelt. Night was a friend to the nocturnal predator. The woods were alive with noisy neighbors. Crickets were thawing, night swifts were chirping, and the trees themselves were groaning against the occasional gales. It was all they could do to strain buds for Spring. And as deep as they had descended into the hunting thickets of the forest, the babbling brooks still teased the auditory gloom. All was as peaceful as this children's bedtime story could be in some far off dream. Serene as serendipity.
However, Machamoti was certain to remain a respectful distance at the back just the same. The night...had adorned his coat less gently...

Theme: Embellishment of Illumination

The lunar rays of the onyx skies seemed to cling to The Sentinel's fluffy pelt like fireflies to their own. The sterling silver accents to his coat dimmed, save the occasional glint of metallic brilliance. Yet, it most certainly clashed with the nigh moonlight reflection of emboldened white that broadcasted from his figure. It was a phenomenon he was all too familiar with; and his greatest detriment to a hunt. He was practically a lunar-lightbulb. And it contributed to explain why he always remained at the very back of a hunting party. If anything, visually, he distracted prey from the true threat. His lumbering goliath-figure made for excellent spectacle. Too bad it made for convenient real estate, no sooner had they rounded a bend had a cricket landed on his nose. The daring blighter. The surprised brute would flex his snoot before attempting to blow it off with a huff.
Failure.
Machamoti tried again.
Another failure; it held firm.
He'd give his sniffer a good shake.
No good.
Therefore, given a moment of clarity, he'd slowly raise an enormous paw to swipe off the unwelcomed invader.
SUCCESS...short lived. Macha's eyes would watch the hapless insect sail through the gloom...only to smack against Relic's hind quarters with a ping~!

The brute's eyes widened for a moment before he tip-toed sideways like a crab behind the nearest tree trunk before pretending he was about to relieve himself; a desperate attempt to feign innocence.

Name: Zuya
Rank: Kiowa Alpha
Location: The Forest; Kiowa Lands, the River.
Out Of Character: Zuya's next post will be in the main character thread

Seeing as how the outsider did not press the conversation about their hunt, Zuya went on to assume that she was not hungry. That, or she had no interest in sharing a hunt with him. He snorted. Well, he was damn hungry and it was starting to show in his tone and demeanor. He was becoming more irritable than usual. It seemed she was more interested in finding out why he would be moving Kiowa. Figures.  His large green eyes bore into hers before he rolled his eyes. “Typical,” he stated, in response to her keen interest in the pack's moves and whereabouts. Still, if she wanted to know, he saw no reason in keeping it from her. Opening up to her so suddenly would, hopefully, cause her to open up more to him in return. He would possibly be able to gain the fae's trust and she would share her darkest secrets with him. It may even cause her to gain some loyalty toward him especially since she would be seeking entry into the pack. It wasn't like there was any major reason, at least not to the rest of the pack. Kiowa had worn out their welcome in these lands, he knew that and others probably did as well. “Spring will be upon us soon and while there will be some chance of decent hunts, food has become more and more scarce over the years. As our pack grows it's become difficult to keep everyone fed all the time. Winters have become harder on the pack.” in reality, their pack had already dwindled in numbers, but she didn't need to know that. He would keep her, and all other outsiders thinking that they were alive, well, and flourishing. He knew better, however. Still, this was the story he told her, and would be the same story he would tell anyone else who asked. There was a deeper, more sinister reason for moving the pack as well. This, he kept to himself. Zuya made no obvious gestures or movements that would elude to there being anything more to his reasons besides his 'genuine' concern for the pack. No doubt their hunt for a new, suitable home, would be very difficult on some of the wolves. They might even lose a few. The trek further into blasted lands would only awaken inner thoughts within wolves who carried the dark trait, and this.. this was the ultimate reason for Zuya's decision. “You're right, however, Kiowa has not migrated for many generations. I should be surprised that you know this information, but I am not.” He eyed her, an eyebrow raising in her direction, clearly wary of the fae still. “Has that answer satisfied your curiosity? He mocked, though no smile or insistent laugh left his maw. That jab was hollow and cold. He cocked his head to the side to play up his faux curiosity of her in return. An hour or so had already passed while they 'relaxed' at the river. “We should get moving.” He told her. The safety of the pack was not unwelcome. This black fae made him uneasy. He was hungry, and tired, but he couldn't bring himself to let his guard down around an outsider. The sooner they got back, the better.

"Cursing both Sun and Moon, Twilight sent her one and only daughter to carry the sins of the world...

Her pleasant smile remained as her stride became more casual around him. And his information was easy to digest. His reasoning seemed direct and plain enough, however, she kept her reservations.
"Oh? Do I strike you as typical?" her smile brightened as she brought a paw up to stifle a lady-like laugh. "But,yes, my curiosity is satisfied on the matter. I look forward to meeting your family." she stated with a warm demure. Henceforth, she made a note of things to take in her surroundings more slowly from this point. Kiowa territory was new territory. The trees were much larger here; younger too. Once Spring came into full swing she wondered how many leaves would bud. How green did this forest get? The wind had a noticeable lack of an ominous dirge. And what's more, the lack of mud was a welcome change.

However, after more time had passed, Lavi gave a gauge of the brooding emerald eyes as she mused where he would even want to take Kiowa. "Where would Kiowa's alpha seek carry us off to?" An innocent prod, to be sure. Myr and Kiowa lands were not the cream of the crop for hunting grounds; but both territories had great access to intercepting great herbivore migrations. Hence, the reinforcement in Lavi's surprise earlier. If food truly was the heaviest factor...which land held greater hunting grounds? Would Zuya seek to wrestle lands away from one of the packs she previously mentioned? Or would his relocation plans become an outright pilgrimage into unknown lands? Where had he heard of a land of milk and honey?
