Sara Nilsson

you are already mad

i have to try and fake it

.. like i fake everything..

now i am sad.

*sighs*

Wargtass

No need to be sad, it's not like I have my character done, applied and accepted or something like that.  ;D

Oh wait... O_O

Name: Bernhard Krause
Gender: Male
Age: 42
Appearance: Bernhard is marked by a long and hard life. He has been shot and stabbed several times during his extensive military career and has many scars to show it, most notably his bum right leg which was crippled by a Minie-ball. He's still a man in his physical prime but no longer fit for adventures.
Role: Retired soldier and gunsmith.
Background: Bernhard was born in 1834 in the city of Darmstadt, Hessen, a former city state in the west of the German Confederation. His father was a gunsmith and his mother a seamstress. His ancestry drew from the long tradition of Hessian mercenaries and his grandfather had been one of many to fight on the American continent during the War for Independence, but unlike many of his contemporaries he had returned to Hessen after the war was over. He apprenticed under his father until he turned 18, when he decided that merely making rifles for the German armies wouldn't suffice. He enlisted on a five year contract during which he would become an accomplished Feldwebel.

In 1857 Bernhard was released from his contract and put in the reserves, but had yet to see any military action and was becoming restless. He moved to Berlin and became a precision rifler and gunsmith. An opportunity arised when the American Civil War broke out and the call to arms went out to all civilized countries to fight against the slavery of the CSA. Bernhard was shipped along with several thousand more volunteers to North America. The mixed regiments appaled the young Feldwebel and he tried to centralize command by teaching his compatriots English but without results. It was during the Siege of Petersburg late in the war that he was struck in the leg with a Minie-ball. Opposing amputation his leg settled wrong as it healed and he was unable to continue his service. He returned to Germany content with his contributions to the fall of slavery and once more took up his gunsmithery.

In 1870 the Franco-Prussian war broke out and despite his crippled state Bernhard was recalled to the army which was in need of good officers with field experience. Remaining mounted for the most time he found himself commanding anything from jägers to dragoons and hussars to uhlans. After the war was over a year later he was given a generous pension by the newly formed German Empire. On a whim he decided to move to the US which had grown into a very stable democratic nation, on the contrary to the German states which had moved further and further away until becoming an imperial state. His skills at fieldcraft and as a gunsmith landed him new work in the frontiers where his leg was considered a minor drawback to his proficiencies. He worked for several more years helping several settlements becoming established before he finally settled down and built himself a smith and cabin in the small town of Whitestone in Colorado. He's hoping this will be the last stop and that he can finally become settled himself.

Name: Daniel Greenwald
Gender: male
Age: 51
Appearance: A hair under 6 feet tall, still quite strong for his age
Role: Proprietor and manager of the “White Rose” hotel & casino
Background: Daniel was born and raised in Boston. His father  - Otto Greenwald – had come over from Germany and established the family business: a haberdashery. Daniel spent his childhood years as an apprentice to his dad, slowly mastering the work until he could make as fine a suits and clothes as his father. In spite of Otto’s dreams of passing business on to his son, Daniel’s own ambition went further than simply spending his life making suits for men richer than he was. At the age of 23, he took his belongings and every penny he had saved and headed west, eventually settling in South Dakota. There he worked all manner of jobs - including assistant to an undertaker, cook at a hotel, clerk to a notary – until he had saved up enough money to buy his own lot of land and set up his first business: a hardware store. Business grew slowly but steadily for the next couple of years until gold was struck nearby and he made a small fortune due to the many chancers who descended upon the area and bought their prospecting gear from him. Thanks to this boom, he had the funds to establish his second business enterprise: a saloon. Initially merely serving drinks, he soon took to prostitution in the back rooms as well. Indeed, so many young women were now descending upon the area that there was a near endless supply of prospective whores who were all eager to work at one of the brothels.

Both of his business ventures now did well enough to make Daniel a wealthy man by the age of 35. Unfortunately for him, the good times came to an end. The gold mines dried up one after another and the formerly booming community slowly but surely shrunk again. Further challenging his enterprise was the civil war, which sent much of the country in turmoil.  Thankfully, Daniel had seen the tide turn just in time to sell both his hardware store and his saloon for a tidy sum. Along with the money he had made during the good years, he now had a small fortune to spend on his resettlement. He decided to sit on his money until the war ended. Thus he arrived in Whitestone at the age of 40 and bought a large lot of undeveloped land on Main Street. There he erected the White Rose, a hotel & casino that also offered the services of girls. The entire establishment was more upscale than his saloon had been, which was his intent. Even though the place did not bring in the kind of money his saloon in South Dakota had at the height of the gold craze, it did bring in a steady supply of cash. Now that gold and silver have been found nearby, Daniel can feel the same air of opportunity in the air as before he made his fortune in South Dakota. Exciting times are surely ahead.

Name: Kitty O'Donnell
Gender: Female
Age: 36
Appearance: She is perhaps not the most gorgeous woman in  town, but her long red hair and elegant dresses will make most men turn and look as she passes them in the street. She tends to use only the tiniest amount of beauty products relying on her naturally pale Irish skin to accentuate her hair and freckles instead. Like all of her girls she tends to wear clothing that will accentuate her small breasts and hips, but to a lesser degree then her girls. She is the madam after all, and whenever she is outside she will carry her trusted parasol to protect her skin from the harsh sun. Underneath her voluminous skirts she carries a small 22 caliber Derringer for protection as well as another in her purse.

Role: Owner of Miss Kitty's House of Pearls. A newly built brothel where she and her girls care for the poor lonely men of Whitestone.

Background: Born in New Orleans from a single mother who worked as one of the painted ladies there so prostitution was something she knew all about from an early age. And like many others in the same situation she would follow her mothers footsteps. When her mother passed away from the consumption Kitty who was only 18 was left on her own and was forced to become a whore herself in order to afford food and lodging, much to her disgust several of the men who used to come for her mother now came to see her. And as one after another of the men would be rutting above her she started developing a hatred not just for them but for men in general, the owner of the whore house saw the early signs in her eyes and told her in no uncertain terms that it would be better for everyone if she where to leave town before her volatile temper got the best of her. So she left her home and everything she knew and headed west along with so many others looking for a new and better life, as she stopped in various small mining towns she saw all too often how people would spend every single cent and leave destitute. That coupled with her own mothers fate she swore she wouldn't end up broke and with no means to support herself.

She stayed for many years in a smaller trading community called Shamus Rocks after its founder an old Irish trader, there she picked up a lot of tips from him as he took her under his wing since saw in her the old Irish spirit. Even though most of the honest women would turn up their noses at her she finally grew a thicker skin and could ignore it, the only thing that would get her blood boiling was when some of the men would abuse her or one of the other working girls. And one night it came to a head when the youngest girl was brutally beaten by a drunken cowboy, and in her anger Kitty grabbed a shotgun and the last thing the man know of that night is the press of cold steel against his privates before she empties both barrels into his most tender region. Realizing that the law would come down hard on a lowly whore such as herself she quickly grabbed her belongings and fled west once again. This time she would settle in Whitestone where she built a brothel with the money she had stashed away. While the local hotel would also offer up the pleasure of willing girls Kitty decided to not compete and instead the usual whiskey and gambling that many brothels would have she set down a strict no booze rule. No more would some drunken lout hurt her girls! Also with no booze flowing there would be less fights and it soon got a reputation for a calm place where a man can enjoy the company of a charming woman in or outside of the bedroom. The main attraction would quickly be a large bathing area that is decorated to look like a natural grotto where a man can get a caring massage from one of the young ladies to limber himself up for more fun activities later.

As for Kitty herself, being the madam she only goes upstairs with the very few men that catches her eyes. While her hatred has mellowed a lot over the years she still harbors very real suspicion about all menfolk so it is rare that any man can get to experience her very real bedroom prowess. Lately she has started feeling her age and wouldn't mind settling down and perhaps have a child or two, but so far no man has managed to get past her thorns to find the lonely heart beating in her chest.

Name: Erasmus Reynolds
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Appearance: (As pictured)
Role: Doctor
Background: Erasmus was born in 1843 to a very well-off family in Boston, MA. His father a doctor himself, it was known quite early that Erasmus would follow in his footsteps, and at the age of 17, with his father's influence and money, Erasmus began his official medical education. About a year later, the Civil War began.

Erasmus continued his studies for a couple years before the call for medical personnel became more desperate. Feeling it was his duty – despite harsh protests from his mother and father both – Erasmus answered that call and offered his services to the US Federal Army. He began his stint as an assistant, using his budding medical knowledge from his schooling to work effectively and efficiently with more experienced doctors. But the hands-on experience he gained treating wounded soldiers would far outweigh his time spent in the classroom.

For three years he aided wounded soldiers as best he could, from illness to disease to amputations, he rarely received a day of rest, following the army from battle to battle. Erasmus did not pay attention to the color of a man's uniform – nor the color of his skin. He felt it was his calling to aid mankind in whatever way he could.

When the war ended in May of 1865, her was faced with many choices. He could return to Boston and try to mend fences with his estranged parents, he could work somewhere else in the Northeast, perhaps even in New York or Washington, he could even travel south, as well. But in the end, he decided to travel west into the newest frontier.

Erasmus wandered from town to town until he came to Whitestone, Colorado. He loved the climate, the rugged beauty of the area, the fresh air of freedom and the open range of possibility there, and since the town didn't have a proper doctor, he decided to set-up shop there. With what meager funds he had remaining, he bought a small building that he could use to both see patients, while having a living space in the back.

Out on the Front Range, danger lurked around every corner, even if it was a different kind than what he faced in the war. He hoped to become a part of the community, perhaps even one day considering politics, depending on the situation. Hopefully a wife and possibly some children were somewhere in his future, as well. Until then, there was always the possibility of the brothel down the street to help relieve any tension he might feel on those cold, Colorado nights. And when he was bored, a game of cards, chess, or backgammon likely wasn't far away, though he didn't gamble, generally keeping his hands – and reputation – clean.

Hmmm...

*Looks at van Cleef*

Shit, I'm an idiot!

I would lick him, but that much stubble is painful ^^

Yeah Warg, just have Lee shave, and you'll get the chicks! :P

Lee was the -ideal- bad guy. Still one of my all-time favorites. :) The only guy I liked better was Henry Fonda, I think. But Lee is just so classic.

I dunno, I always liked van Cleef better in For A Few Dollars More for some reason. And speaking of which, I think Gian Maria Volonté is a much more awesome villain.

Shit, I should have made a mexican desperado instead! D:

both are fantastic. but mr cleef always has had a soft spot in my heart from when i was a wee girl watching westerns with my dad. ok.. mostly eating popcorn and drinking as much soda as i could before mom noticed.. but still

Lee in "Good, Bad, and the Ugly" is just... just classic. All three of those guys were rogues, but seeing that show as a kid, I always imagined ALL bad guys looking like Lee. LOL!

Henry Fonda in "Once Upon a Time in the West" is probably my all-time favorite Western Baddie. Those cold eyes were so intense, and just his attitude. If I was gonna be a bad-guy flunkie, I'd wanna work for him! :)

Gene Hackman in "Unforgiven" was a pretty interesting character, too.

TONS of choices out there. But I still think you picked a -great- one.

For some reason people only seem to remember the baddies in the Spaghetti westerns.
There are good ones in older westerns too.
Like Jack Palance in "Shane" or Dan Duryea in "Winchester 73". Both essentially play sociopaths long before such characters became cinematic staples. :)

Lee Marvin

Yeah, for me though, the spaghetti westerns were just far more 'dramatic', while the older ones were more 'popcorn' westerns.... and I love me some spaghetti a lot more than popcorn. ;)  TV vs. Movie versions I suppose.

The bad guys in spaghetti westerns just felt more... believable, I suppose, but that's just me. But that isn't always guaranteed of course.

Jack Palance was great period. City Slickers, Cyborg 2, hell even Hawk the Slayer. No matter what role he took he just seemed to take it and run away with it gleefully.
