I clicked on the - sign next to the forum categories and all the forums under them disappeared, but now nothing happens when I click on the + that has appeared in its place!

Oniya

Did logging out and logging in again fix the problem?  (I don't know SMF, but it would have been my first suggestion.)

I just tried that, and it didn't work.

It's an odd problem, but SMF stores collapses in its database. You will want to make sure scripting is enabled and that your browser is generally responsive, at least.

What browser and version are you using?

Cysma

I'm using Internet Explorer version 7. I am accessing this site through needin.info, but I do have it set to allow scripts.

Vekseid

You might try an alternative browser or a different POST friendly web proxy such as anon.me. Alternately, if your school blocks elliquiy.com and not the IP directly you can check out the https announcement to access Elliquiy securely, which bypasses many such restrictions.

Cysma

https://elliquiy.com is blocked by OpenDNS because it has adult content.

Cysma

Also, https://anon.me is blocked because it is categorized as a proxy/anonymizer.

So how come needin.info isn't!?

Xillen

There has to be someone coming around and actually marking that site as a proxy server. It's not like OpenDNS autodetects that.

However, if OpenDNS blocks elliquiy, can you try connecting directly to http://174.34.158.178/ without using a proxy server?

Cysma

Nope. That's blocked by Windows Parental Controls instead.

Xillen

That raises the question why you need Windows Parental Controls in the first place...

Cysma

I still can't expand the forum categories! How do I reset them?

I don't need Windows Parental Controls; I don't know how to disable UAC.

Oniya

Windows Parental Controls and User Access Control are two entirely different things.  UAC is set on by default, and WPC isn't, for one thing.  Heck, at one point I even braved the Vista Control Panels trying to turn WPC on with my husband's laptop, thanks to an irresponsible (and thankfully former) roommate.

Failed miserably, unfortunately.  Vista is not my favorite OS.

But the thing is, if I turn off UAC, I turn off WPC! How do I do that if I don't know the administrator's password?

Xillen

You ask the person that installed the computer to do it for you?

Cysma

I don't know who that is. I got this used.

You better don't, if you need to know.

Ask a friend or relative with experience in computers to see if he can help you reinstalling your OS.
