I have a question about the site's font. Is there any way to customize the site's font personally for my account? Is there an option somewhere to change it in its entirety? Not just in a single post. I got a new computer and all the font now looks italicized, making it difficult to see any words that are actually italicized. Under the tools option I forced my internet to show things only in New Times Roman but that makes it impossible to see when people customize the font in their personal posts. I know that on some web forums you can customize the appearance of the forums for your personal use. I was wondering if there was an option to do that on here and I'm just missing it?

I'm afraid that doesn't seem to be one of the customization options at the moment. You might want to throw that out in the CMS feature request thread.

Is this happening only on E? If not, you might need to reset your PC font to default.

and touches my dreams. - Harry Chapin

Thank you, Avis. I will suggest it :)

Oreo, it seems that it's only happening on E.

Which browser is this, and does it occur in multiple browsers?

I'm using Firefox but I just opened E in IE and Chrome and it's happening in those as well.

Hrm. Could you post or e-mail me a screenshot?

Narianna

Sure :)

I know for a fact that in "What exactly were her feelings on the nickname?" the word 'were' is italicisized. Also 'do' in "No, but they do joke with each other." and the 'am' in "Well I am skittish."

If you can't see that, the link to the actual pic is: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd315/Kali_83/FontScreenshot.png

I looked for help on Firefox Support in the "Getting Started" feature for Firefox and found this link that may point in a direction that might help.

Thank you, Beguile! The problem is that it's doing it in all my browsers (Firefox, IE, and Chrome) and if I force it to just use the font I want under tools, I can't see when someone has changed their font. All the pretty layouts and match-up of font to characters that people work so hard on are just lost on me at that point. I'm wondering if it is just a computer issue where somehow the OS itself is displaying all web text as an italicized default. If so, maybe I could just change that. However, my next best solution would be if there was a way to change the default display font on a customizable version of the website, since it really only affects this particular site in terms of reading.

Oy!  You do have a problem.  I'm sorry my suggestion didn't help.  I hope something can be done for you.

Either of these two could help, Narianna?

This could possibly be the answer! I just don't have a clue which font it is that could be corrupted. They said Helvetica on that site but I don't see Helvetica listed in my fonts folder...

And thanks, Beguile :) It's not detrimental to writing. Just would be helpful if I could get it fixed.

Well, E uses as a default font Verdana, so try to look into the Fonts folder and tell me if you can see it there. If you do see it there, one of them should be either regular or without any appendix (such as italic or bold). If you don't have one such, backup the fonts (just by copying it elsewhere) and try this: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-restore-default-fonts-in-windows-7

Reboot system (and browser). If that doesn't help, get out the hammer. ;D

Edit: After you reboot, you'll re-install the fonts by selecting all of them (click on the first one, hold SHIFT and click on the last one), then right click, install fonts (click NO TO ALL when the computer asks whether to rewrite existing). When they're re-installed, you can delete the backup folder. ;)

Thank you so much, Jouzinka! I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet as I have about 5 threads I need to respond to before rebooting my comp. I'll try this out soon and I think you so much for your help!

jouzinka

You are welcome, but we'll see if it helps you. ;) If not, we'll google some more "medicine." ;D

I could kiss every single one of you right now!

So apparently my computer didn't come with regular Verdana installed. It only had Verdana italic and italic bold. I found it online for free. Yay!

jouzinka

*bounces* YAY! Glad it's fixed. :-)
